“america, you know not what you have”

America – He’s Your President for Goodness Sake!

By William Thomas

Extracts – full article here

There was a time not so long ago when Americans, regardless of their political stripes, rallied round their president. Once elected, the man who won the White House was no longer viewed as a republican or democrat, but the President of the United States. The oath of office was taken, the wagons were circled around the country’s borders and it was America versus the rest of the world with the president of all the people at the helm.

Suddenly President Barack Obama, with the potential to become an exceptional president has become the glaring exception to that unwritten, patriotic rule.

Four days before President Obama’s inauguration, before he officially took charge of the American government, Rush Limbaugh boasted publicly that he hoped the president would fail. Of course, when the president fails the country flounders. Wishing harm upon your country in order to further your own narrow political views is selfish, sinister and a tad treasonous as well.

….At some point, the treatment of President Obama went from offensive to ugly and then to downright dangerous.

The health-care debate, which looked more like extreme fighting in a mud pit than a national dialogue, revealed a very vulgar side of America. President Obama’s face appeared on protest signs white-faced and blood-mouthed in a satanic clown image. In other tasteless portrayals, people who disagreed with his position distorted his face to look like Hitler complete with mustache and swastika.

Odd, that burning the flag makes Americans crazy, but depicting the president as a clown and a maniacal fascist is accepted as part of the new rude America.

In President Barack Obama, Americans have a charismatic leader with a good and honest heart. Unlike his predecessor, he’s a very intelligent leader. And unlike that president’s predecessor, he’s a highly moral man.

What America has in Obama is a head of state with vitality and insight and youth. Think about it, Barack Obama is a young Nelson Mandela. Mandela was the face of change and charity for all of Africa but he was too old to make it happen. The great things Obama might do for America and the world could go on for decades after he’s out of office.

America, you know not what you have.

The man is being challenged unfairly, characterized with vulgarity and treated with the kind of deep disrespect to which no previous president was subjected. It’s like the day after electing the first black man to be president, thereby electrifying the world with hope and joy, Americans sobered up and decided the bad old days were better.

Please. Give the man a fair, fighting chance. This incivility toward the leader who won over Americans and gave hope to billions of people around the world that their lives could be enhanced by his example, just naturally has to stop.

Every time I see this photo of that massive crowd it brings tears to my eyes.

This man is phenomenal. What an honor and a privilege to be in a time of this great man.

    May God bless him always.

Thanks for the article chipsticks. Its quite evident that some of these unprecedented criticism for him comes due to his race.Even those who disagree with him, will admit off the record that he is a smart and intelligent and a man of virtue! Rest of the world envy him for the kind of a leader that he is! What I dont understand is Republicans and their allies criticize the president and tarnish his image without proposing any viable alternatives to the huge challenges your country and the world is facing! They just let the man handle everything alone and were concentrating on blaming him for everything he is doing. Its crazy. I feel so sad sometimes.

It was due to the last president’s creeds America lost respect in the world. I hope they dont risk it again by treating their president like trash! I remember the saying which goes like “Person with eye sight dont realize the value of eyes!” Its like that now with half of Americans dont realize what a good President they have!

I surely don’t like being cynical, but the answer to President Obama’s disrespectful treatment is that he is a challenge to an inordinate amount of adult sixth grade level intelligence that permeates this country. He’s intelligent (threatening), he’s articulate(he’s Black); he’s a great father (but he’s Black); he has a kind heart (but he’s still Black); His qualities as a man and a good leader have absolutely no credibility because (he’s undeniably Black.) Sorry, but the treatment of President Obama is that he IS a Black man and that is the bottom line in this country. He can’t change that and I doubt he would if he could.

This nation will find itself on its knees calling out for forgiveness and this nation will come to no good end because of this very Black man. Now that you can take statement to the bank. Unless that bank takes your house, your car, your 401K’s, which this Black man stopped once.

America, you deserve what is inevitably coming to you-destruction without a doubt. You Christians out there are mired in the spread of this sedition and hypocrisy. Yet you scrub yourselves on Sunday morning and off your pious selves to worship. Christ knows what’s in your hearts and so do you. And those of you who don’t believe, you too will be judged with all those church going, holier than thou so-called CHRISTIANS. President Obama will be victorious and you will be left standing there scratching your heads at your failure to “take him down”.

Very well put Obaman, very well put…

It’s amazing how people outside this country see so much clearer than many who live in it-

You know when I think about what is going on right now with president Obama it reminds me of the trials and tribulations that MLK, Ghandi and others who made a great difference in the world had to go through.

    Suffering comes with the territory.

This is how I know that President Obama is an extraordinary man.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

    – Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love, 1963

Some of us are very much aware of what kind of President we have and we don’t take it lightly, for he is a wonderful person always thinking of helping others as a President is suppose to do. I pray for him often and I know that God is his source and for certain God did not bring him this far to leave him. I never knew how prejudice this country really was until this black man won the election in 2008. For someone to say that they hope the President fail is cruel and inhumane.
