Thanks for posting. FLOTUS is simply stunning. Beautiful skin and so fit. I am so amused when I think about how heads exploded that she would dare go sleeveless and show off those toned arms. Remember? Now I have to laugh at all the female talking heads who try to copy her style. Even the Faux News shrills all have their arms out. It was all jealousy and envy. They will never have the style and grace that our first lady has.

I appreciate what the author is implying, that the way we present ourselves to the world is reflective of who and what we are. I think what our culture is guilty of is attempting to define and delineate how that is supposed to look. Michelle Obama expresses herself, and is not deferential to the “fashion police”. I like that. She is beautiful, confident, healthy and spirited and I think that is reflected in the way she adorns herself.
Today, I have absolutely zero tolerance for our politcos and their judgements….so my reaction to the 1st video was STFU, the second video I could swallow, barely. It would be lovely if 1 week a month our POTUS and FLOTUS can be afforded a judgement free zone. Lord, they must have teflon fortified skin.
I really think the First Family is really so busy they don’t really pay attention to the cable noise. We on the other hand are looking for every bit of text/video produced about them.
I am struck by the comment, “she uses fashion to get our attention and then she can say whatever she wants”. This is so smart.
She is articulate, determined, and caring and she manages to promote her agenda in a way that doesn’t draw fire as overstepping her bounds. Remember when they were all over Hillary for running Bill behind the scenes. Ms Obama seems to be able to be a strong woman. with strong opinions, without making folks feel threatened.
During the 2008 campaign, I used to look forward to Michelle Obama’s speeches more than Barack’s….just to see what she’s gonna wear. I remember my mom saying, why is she wearing that purple dress, she could be the FLOTUS! and me rolling my eyes and attempting to explain how ICONIC that purple dress is gonna be.
Today, when I see a picture of that purple sheath dress, I remember that stadium in MN and the excitement of that moment.
Do you remember what Cindy McCain wore when John got his presumtive-nomination? I dont!
Michelle Obama wears her clothes, her clothes do not wear her.
What is iconic about Michelle Obama is her self confidence, her self awareness, her balanced perspective on life, her own and others.
The source of her stature is her self actualization, which is what makes her so remarkable and so indelible, her clothing choices can enhance, but they can’t erase the “masterpiece” that is Michelle.
I am not sure what connection the author is attempting to make, from my perch, I would say that fashion does not define Michelle Obama, but rather it is because of who Michelle is that allows her fashion to make such a strong statement.
Well she has said to wear what you love….
I believe she is busy foremost with her true passions, promoting healthy lifestyle and military families; her clothes are just a small part of who she is…
Beside loving her sense of fashion, I also like her selection of designers; she goes, from young to old, even the deceased and every nationality…Just Love Love Love her:-)
What I also noticed…is, that she very seldom wears high hills….I mean the 6″ high or stilleto type…she tend to like flats..or very small 3′-4′ inch (that tells me she’s more into comfort) or maybe she’s trying to accomodate her husband’s height:-) If she did wear these very high hills, i know that she would be taller than the President. Just thinking out loud She’s my fashion Icon.
I am 6′ and a little extra tall. I suppose because I am already tall, I find the current trend of 5-6 inch heels CRRRRRAAAAZZZYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to wear 3-4″ heels, but didn’t really consider any heels very comfortable, I’ve always preferred my bare feet.
I’ld imagine that Michelle, as on the go as she is probably prefers the “speed” she can maintain in lower heels, and perhaps out of deference to her just slightly taller husband. Michelle in 6″ heels would be more “AMAZONIAN AMAZING” than America could handle, they’ld have a collective ka-nip-shit.
