Carolyn’s comment here reminded me to post this again … the right wing sure are original, hey?
Let them play their little games. How dumb do they think we are? These are two of my favorite presidents in my lifetime. I wrote a letter to Teddy Kennedy when he was still with us and told him how the nuns rented some old yellow school buses to take us to see JFK give a speech when he was running for president and how much fun we had. A bunch of silly college girls. I received a lovely letter from Vicky and Teddy thanking me for my letter. I look for the good and ignore the crazies who remind me of broken records playing it over and over again.
It appears “they” think we’re pretty dumb and easily manipulated. Just think of all the blaspheming lies they’ve thrown to the public, starting with Reagan–people actually voted him to the presidency. There is always a faction that awakens unhealthy emotion in people and when that happens, all reasoning leaves the room. It’s taught in Marketing 101, that’s why we overspend, overeat and (ssshhh get addicted to smokg). “Rove College” teaches ‘get ‘em excited, put an image out there.’ He knows the tricks. That’s why Beck wears those dark rimmed glasses in front of a greenboard with his chalk–gives the impression he knows what he’s talking about–an image of an ‘educator.’ Sucks them into his stupidity. I watch him to keep up with what the enemy is doing. Good for research.
As a retired teacher, DNH,
I think that the republicans’ attacks on public education is a way to keep the population ignorant enough to allow emotions to overrule their ability to think critically when it’s time to elect politicians. The majority of the republican leaders are well educated, and they know that the best way for them to win some political contests is for them to appeal to the emotions of low information and un/undereducated voters. I see it as the exploitation of gullible voters for the purpose of promoting and achieving their own personal and political agendas, and I have always thought that it despicable to take advantage of one’s fellow citizens and call one’s self a Christian while doing it.
