The only president since Jimmy Carter to constrain out-of-control spending by Congress was Bill Clinton. But deficit spending during President Obama’s first term has so far only been in response to the recession, part of his administration’s expansionary fiscal policies which have included tax cuts and credits for most Americans.
Chipsticks, What a wonderful graph. It is one thing to think about a huge amount of debt, but the hard reality of a statistical graphs makes it so clear. Wahoo. It is also shocking to see how small the debt used to be going back to Jimmy Carter.
