President Barack Obama makes a toast at the start of the 2011 Governors Dinner at the White House, February 27

…with Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire

…with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick

The ex-future GOP President, Chris Christie

That Jindal person

I love Barack and all but where’s the pics of Chellie?
Just added one, but for you fashionistas there’s no full shot of her dress yet.
That jindal person. lol! Are were sure is a person?
Why did they punish my FLOTUS? Gov. Perry? No, not right!!!!
year, this is not right – bad manners from Perry may be communicable
CTGirl, a group in Texas has founded a fund for scholarships for WHITES ONLY. Interesting — they want to level the playing field. The Hispanics are catching up to the whites and whites may soon be in the minority. Story here with a picture of the group: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1361139/Texas-group-launches-scholarship-white-men-ONLY–need-equal-shot.html?ito=feeds-newsxml.
Years ago I read a piece by someone whose expertise was demographics who claimed that, with the way Hispanics and African Americans and others were growing in the country, that intermarriage would render the population sort of an overall tan. There was no Tea Party at that time, but if there had been, they probably have had a fit.
But I thought it might put the tanning salons out of business. One time I tried to figure out how much US dollars go into getting the much-needed tan before swimsuit time and came to the conclusion it would have to be close to a couple of million dollars a year.
Thanks for sharing that Joan… sometimes I wonder about Texas!
‘So far it has raised more than $1,600.’
‘More than’ – It didn’t take them long or much to earn a positive spin! Hope their ‘Former Majority Association’ doesn’t turn out like Tom Delay’s Texas foster homes with nobody really getting any benefit from it!
Don’t feel sorry for FLOTUS the person being punished is PERRY. Maybe that will give him a go ahead to secede from the UNION.
If only perry would put his threat into action
I concur. There has to be a just Almighty! You can talk all the “smack”(Perry) and then things are quietly working out for the best. Our FLOTUS knows who she is, Perry is still struggling to find out what his purpose and whose purpose he should be putting his energies into. I think it was a great seating arrangement. No match for FLOTUS!!!!! POTUS and FLOTUS just keep destroying the hatefulness with intellectual kindness. I love it.
Is anyone else worried that the pompus Chris Christie is close to bursting out of his shirt? he is not one of my favorite people – too arrongant for comfort
It is always the secure who are humble – as with President Obama…
Rudeness, brashness and raucous arrogance are the weak man’s pathetic imitation of “strength” as lived and displayed by the likes of Christie…
Hear! Hear, Chi! ‘… the weak man’s immitation of “strength”…’
I feel that Governor Christie needs to have a quiet place of “Gentleness, Kindness, and Humbleness Chambers” installed in his office, and should be required visits for him each hour of the day. He speaks like he made the Universe. That attitude turns the young people off who are looking for a fair, and better future for themselves. They do not like “Bullying Politicians” He will learn. We are at a state in our country and in our world, where compassion, intellecual conversations, kind deeds, and longterm solutions are needed. I like deep thinkers who can come out of the gate swiftly but with humblness, graciousness, and a love for the people that is shown in their deeds. That is why I feel so many of us are willing to listen and help our POTUS accomplish his goals for us as a nation. We are grateful for President Obama.
My Michelle is damn beautiful as always. Very strong woman indeed. Love her to pieces.
She is GORGEOUS ~ I cannot wait to read her memoirs after 2016. It will not only be a record shattering book deal, it will be a bestseller for generations.
I concur on every level. Please pray for me, in that I will be around and able to read her works as well as POTUS works after 2016. (I am a senior) I just prayed for that yesterday. Lord, please give me a fruitful and healthy life to read the books written by our POTUS and FLOTUS before I leave this earth!! Please say good thoughts for me in this matter. Thank you!!!
Who ever does the flowers for these special occasions deserves some special recognition. They are always lovely.
I wonder what’s in the president’s glass? I’ve never seen wine that clear. It’s either water, doesn’t hurt at all, in fact a good idea, given the occasion, or it’s vodka, which is unlikely in the extreme.
That pose of New Jersey’s governor Christi gives him a Sidney Greenstreet look. Or Orson Wells in “Citizen Kane,” at the end of the movie.
Yes, Christi always has an interesting look, though unfortunate politics.
I remember reading that POTUS usually has water in his glass as he performs the toast
Watch, POLITICO is going to have a story on winegate tonight. It is more than likely water, something he has done on many dinner occasions. But the media, rather than reporting real news, harps on the useless. And I loathe Christie I don’t understand how some call the Prez arrogant and this bombastic overgrown oompa loompa gets a pass…ugh.
Just noticed Christie’s stubby little fingers ~ That explains the loud, obnoxious behavior. It appears someone is trying to overcompensate for serious shortcomings. Physical, intellectual and elsewhere. Ha ha!
oh!
LOL so true about the New Jersey bully. Okay, I’m going to be bad, too. Our Prez, on the other hand has large hands AND feet. Is it a wonder Michele is always glowing?
As she feigns fauxrage, STOP talking about our president like that *I have wondered about that, you JUST know they are—-okay, I’m going to bed*LOL
LOL
Lol, oh my
A big LOL!
Just a note on the subject of hands — I don’t feel good about stubby fingers, either. Fat hands in general on men really bother me.
A Sidney Greenstreet syndrome perhaps. My, he excelled at portraying disgusting characters.
TO which group Christie certainly belongs.
Oliver Hardy comes to mind.
President Obama is always served water at these occasions.
I am very impatient tonight, I want to see the rest of the First Lady’s dress!!!
Come on press, you know that a good chunk of us want to see what Mrs Obama is sporting tonight and how much more admiringly her “Human Gem” looks her over with no doubt that he is not thinking celebate thoughts!!
Like so many others I also love to see what FLOTUS is wearing. I love her earrings they are GORG!!!! Better shot of FLOTUS’ dress Plzzzzzzzzz ppl of the press! PBO looked handsome as always. Wish he had a better fashion sense though; mix up the tox colors ah lil bit lol!
Hiya P, I’ll keep checking but I think the same thing happened last year, there were only head shots of everyone sitting at their tables – we might have to wait for Pete Souza’s photos in the next day or two. But I’ll keep looking!
Ok no problem Chipsticks. I know you are on top of everything with our President and First Lady so i’ll be waiting very patiently!
“That Jindal person”…
I hope you’re impressed CT, I was going to be rude but I decided to behave.
Well since Chip is behaving, I’ll start it off. Jindal looks like the creepy water who keeps asking if you need anymore raspberry sauce on your steak?
*Creepy waiter*
I am telling you Chipsticks, you got it right with those 3 words… pure perfection!
He has done absolutely NOTHING for Louisiana. He hasn’t helped the suffering school system (mostly the NO), hasn’t tried to orchestrate a mass effort to rebuild after Katrina or cleanup after the oil spill. He is absolutely useless and LA declines into a poorer state.
That man looks good in a bow tie.
All I can say is thank god for adblock. I can’t handle seeing Christie dinosaur looking ass or Jindel.
In more better, pleasing to my eyes news, POTUS remains classy stunning GQmofo etc…..FLOTUS is gorgeous.
LOL!
I think I may have found the dress, not on Michelle, but on a model from Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2010 line (http://www.elle.com/Runway/Ready-to-Wear/Spring-2010-RTW/PRABAL-GURUNG/PRABAL-GURUNG#mode=base;slide=6
Slide 7.
thnx for the link. Looks like alot of people are trying to view it, the site is taking forever to load. *waits*
ok just saw it..simple and pretty. I am sure flotus is working it. Can’t wait for a pic.
I know…. I can’t wait to see how she “FLOTUS-ed” it up. *waits till the morning*
I have to say it, but they had to picture two of my least favorite people, the bully from New Jersey and the nut from Texas.
I am pleased to see my Governor, Deval Patrick, next to our First Lady. Looking at what some Governors are doing to advance their destructive agenda, I am more than grateful for Deval. We had a tough election fight, but his decisive victory makes every effort in that campaign worthwhile and an investment in the future. I wish his admonition would be heard around all the tables at that dinner, namely that we need to solve our problems by turning to one another, not on one another. And I might add by not sacrificing our working families around the country.
lol that Jindal person
What’s the scoop on Gov. Christine Gregoire? I confess I’ve never heard of her before, but I liked her little speech and the fact that she acknowledged all my favourite participants. Also, she didn’t seem to choke on any of the compliments.
I love how PBO reminded the govs that we are one nation. Hope those words stabbed those weasels Brewer and Perry in the heart. Also, loved Christine’s words of praise for our president and that they stand with him. Awesome.
Potus looked yummy, our Flotus beautiful as usual. Nice speech from Gov Christine Gregoire, have go google her to find out more about her. And what a wonderful speech she gave! Perry, jindal and christie, all I can say is uuurrrggghhhh. Nice to see my wonderful Governer, Gov. Deval Patrick. We in Mass love you and are greteful for all you do.
When I see Perry, Christie, and the other republican governors I always think of them as snakes in the grass, waiting for their next opportunity to denigrate our beloved president for their own political gain, and I can’t think of them as having his, or the nation’s best interests at heart.
It’s really amusing when the media fall all over themselves trying to congratulate any of these hate-filled idiotic opportunists like Huckabee and Christie for some obscure “good” deed like “defending” the First lady from their own contrived attacks…
It’s all so ridiculous and insults the intelligence of even a third grader…
It is infuriating to see so many Republican governors joining the lunacy of the Republicans in congress to dismantle (for purely ideological partisan reasons) any accomplishments of President Obama.
As Steve Benen wrote recently, this is what President Obama is up against:
—————————————————————————–President Obama, in other words, not only has to resolve crises unlike anything his predecessors have dealt with in generations, he has to do so with a ridiculous Republican Party in Washington that approaches public policy with all the sophistication of a junior-high student government, and Republican governors who resist effective policies for purely ideological reasons.

A PARTISAN WAR ON TWO FRONTS….

The toast from the chair of the Governor’s association was really wonderful and touching.
LOVED Governor Gregoire’s toast. Really, really wonderful.
I did also, but who is she? No-one answered my question from above. She spoke respectfully and supportively, but does she back up her words with supportive gestures in real life? I wonder, because positive support for the Prez, from his colleagues, seems to be rarely shared in the media, and I can’t believe I missed hearing her mentioned before in this context.
That last sentence of mine reminded me of a problem I had with reporting last Fall(Sept-Novem). It was the fact that I could easily identify the idiot GOP candidates [Angle, McDonnell, Miller, etc. etc. etc.] but could not identify half as many Dem candidates. The jokers got an enormous amount of free publicity because of their whackiness, but they also were getting a lot of name recognition. I wonder what portion of that translated into a vote or two, even if they didn’t win in the end?
Very good points – that’s half the reason why they act so wacky in the first place. So people remember them, they get face recognition from TV coverage, and some lazy people will just vote for the one they recognize.
First Couple looked fly and loved the toast too.
I just want to say that the pictures, the decorations are beautiful. Whenever I see POTUS and FLOTUS, just puts a big smile on my face. They are not only smart, and Intelligent, they’re just plain old “Good Llooking”. They compliment each other quite well. Makes me so very proud of them
Look, they got It going on my Friends.
‘It’s Monday, Monday, la-la, la, la, la!’ Have a terrific one, guys and gals!
Happy Monday VC!!
I have one complaint about this event, i.e., the President’s attire. He looked so suave in his tux, and commanded the room. But, he blows it with that damn flag pin. I know why he started wearing it, but that was something he began during the ’08 campaign, to satisfy some. It’s been over 2 years now, he is the President and everyone knows it. Time to take off the pin because to me it makes it look like he’s complying with a double standard. The black guy has to continually prove his American-ess. It’s like a former and current foreign-born neighbors of mine. They will fly the American flag when none of us natives bother. I want to tell them they don’t have anything to prove to us on our block but they feel compelled. I don’t necessarily blame them for wanting to feel accepted, but I think it’s demeaning to require some to prove their loyalty.
I agree with you regarding the flag pin…..it’s forced artifice, and really reflective of nothing of substance. He should start a new trend. Pierced ear, jeweled flag earring-diamonds, rubies and sapphires…bling guaranteed to make heads E.X.P.L.O.D.E.
I jest…our President is so beautiful(inside to outside) he really needs no adornment. My own impression is that President Obama isn’t overly invested in a need to make a fashion statement. He’s lucky to have a physique that serves as a great hanger for clothes, and to possess the confidence, good looks and charm that outshines anything he could possibly wear.
