night everyone

The song, ‘God damn you’re beautiful’, is by Chester See – you can see his own video here – I posted this video on YouTube in early 2009 … one of the comments read: “I am Chester See and I approve this message.” ;-)

Hey people, don’t let the haters get you down – almost 70 million people voted for this good man in 2008, and they will again in 2012. Remember, for every Teabagger and Glenn Greenwald there are thousands of decent people not consumed with hate.

See you tomorrow.

That picture of POTUS and FLOTUS were she has this red dress on, her eyes are closed, and he is standing behind her look like he is whispering something sweet in her ear. Folks that is one Sexy, Hot picture to me. Good Night.

    Something everyone here should familiarize yourself if you haven’t already:

    “Society at a Glance 2011 – OECD Report” – http://www.oecd.org/document/24/0,3746,en_2649_37419_2671576_1_1_1_37419,00.html

    A timely reminder that the United States of America ranks dead last in social spending among the 34 Nations analyzed.

    Social spending as share of GDP: 7.2%

    Growth from 1982 to 2007: – 2.2%

    The largest economy in the world has a higher infant mortality rate, a higher homicide rate, a higher child poverty rate than many other Nations in that list of 34. And, we all know where the Congressional teabaggers (aka Republicans) focus – yep, making the poor even poorer, and driving almost everyone else into similar impoverishment in their monomaniacal service to their wealthy masters.

    We must strive, every moment from not until Election Day 2012, to make it clear to all Americans that the course set by Reagan and brutally implemented by Bush II has caused considerable damage to our society.

    We need Election Day 2012 to be the largest ever reaffirmation of our values manifested in landslide victories of Democratic candidates – from City Councils to the US Congress and Presidency – across all 50 States.

    The contrast between Republicans and Democrats, as of these past two weeks, is now more stark than at any time in my life.

    The Republicans own those statistics reported by OECD and they made it abundantly clear yesterday that they want to make the situation more dire for most Americans as to service the very few.

    To further illuminate the contrast, what needs to be at the core of every Democratic candidate’s message to their fellow citizens is empathy as demonstrated in a pragmatic, sustainable social compact that fundamentally redefines what we mean by national security.

    The semantics of national security are almost exclusively associated with armaments, intelligence gathering and readiness of military personnel.

    We know how brittle and unsustainable a military budget is that is nearly equivalent to the sum of all the military budgets of every other Nation. Because our DoD budget is so fiscally irresponsible, it ends up being a direct threat to its very mission – protecting our national security.

    Beyond the obvious need for sufficient military and diplomatic resources to protect our borders and honor treaties, we need to expand the semantics of national security, and I humbly suggest the following parameters as elements of an empathetic, sustainable enhancement of our social compact, and thus our genuine national security:

    1. Lowest infant mortality rate in the world;
    2. Highest child nutrition level in the world;
    3. Highest level of literacy in the world;
    4. Highest number of college graduates in the world;
    5. Highest number of employees in high-tech manufacturing jobs in the world;
    6. Lowest number of homicides in the world;
    7. Absolutely equal pay and promotion opportunities for women;
    8. Largest number of electric vehicles in the world;
    9. Largest amount of solar-generated electricity in the world;
    10. Least expensive, universal health care in the world.

    And, to pay for it:

    From a budget perspective, implementation of what I term the 1.5 to 2 rule – for every 2 dollars appropriated for DoD (inclusive of all funds for NSA, CIA, etc.), a mandatory 1.5 dollars is appropriated for all the programs that currently fall in the “12 % bucket” (aka discretionary spending). Given a fixed budget, that means we will have truly begun to perceive our national security as being comprised of two inextricably coupled components – military and societal expenditures.

    From a revenue perspective, we simplify our individual and corporate tax code.

    Begin with resetting the tax rates on individuals making more than $ 150,000.00 to what they were prior to Bush II’s tax break fiasco.

    Additionally, my approach to simplification is to begin by focusing on ‘the cream’ – above a certain level of either individual income or corporate profit you need to share the cream for the sake of our national security. My approach is that above that level the individual or corporation is going to pay an additional 5 % to the Federal Government irrespective of whatever the tax rate is on the amount below that level.

    So, no matter whether the tax code is changed otherwise (removing loop holes, limiting deductions, etc), and no matter how fancy an accountant one can afford to hunt loop-holes in the tax code, the individual and the corporation are going to contribute a bit more to our national security than the majority of individuals or businesses.

    For example purposes, let’s set the bar at $ 300,000.00 gross income for an individual. So, if you make $ 350,000.00, no matter how many deductions you can legally claim with the existing tax code, you are going to pay 5 % on that $ 50,000.00, in addition to whatever the tax rate is on the amount, post deductions, you have to pay.

    For corporations, any profit greater than $ 1,000,000.00 would be taxed at the rate of 5 % on the difference. Note, that’s applied to the profit as opposed to whatever tax rate applies to their pre-tax gross margin.

    And, regarding capital gains – really simple. No deductions allowed and a flat 30 % on whatever the amount is.

    And, regarding tax deduction on mortgage for residence – only one residence allowed per individual filing separately or for a couple filing jointly. Any other property is taxed according to whatever type of property it is and “mortgage” deduction does not apply.

    And, I’d raise the FICA deduction upper bound on individual income to $ 250,000.00.

    Just a few thoughts on the current deplorable state of America’s national security. No Nation is secure when it is so deeply, deplorably inequitable – 34th among the 34 largest economies in terms of social compact tells us just how non-secure America is, today.

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.MORE.TOGETHER.

    Chipsticks,

    THANK YOU for continuing to bring us all these photos, videos, and clips. I am so enjoying them. This video is extra sweet — what a gorgeous love story! I also love the clips of a younger, idealistic, Obama — he’s made of fortitude and consistency, as these clips show.

    This site is a gift. Thanks for all your hard work. Enjoy your weekend :-)!

      Politicaljunkessa, I just posted this comment about your gravatar over at BWD’s site:
      “Hey Politicaljunkessa, I love your gravatar of the President with his two little girls when they were just wee babies. Our Prez looks a little different there, squatting on the edge of the water in his swimming trunks and sporting facial hair; nevertheless, he looks as handsome as ever. Was he in his mid 30s in that photo?”

    Now I can add this video as one of my favorite’s, too. Some parts of the video are new to me. My favorite new moment is the part where the video is running in fast motion and then Sen. Barack Obama is seated with his arms folded as Michelle and the girls playfully tease him. Although he is engaged in an endearing and playful family moment, he looks incredibly sexy. Another epic moment. :)
