President Obama arrives at the White House after a six-day, four-nation trip across Europe
Yeah! Mark Knoller must know we were all waiting for word of his arrival. Thank God they have arrived safely. What a great visit.
Chips, thanks so much for taking good care of POTUS and FLOTUS on this tour. HATS OFF!!
hey everyone. thanx 4 this wonderful site. glad our prez made it home safely. boy, is he like a whirlwind
Oh, now I can breath. I have been waiting patiently for this good news. Welcome home Mr. President. And thank you chipsticks for releaving my worry. Oh happy day and happy me.
I’m with you Me4obama. I feel like I can finally take a breath and a sigh of relief. When I saw the post that PBO was back… I let out a big whoop of joy. It’s like when a family member you love and respect goes on a trip and arrives home safely, you feel that same sense of happiness that he/she arrived safely and in good form.
FINALLY!!!! Now where are the pictures? I know you have them Chipsticks.
I’m glad he’s home. I hope he gets some well deserved rest.
Thank you God……………
Thank you for keeping a close eye on our President, We missed him so much.
and thank you Ireland, France, UK, Poland for welcoming our President with open arms, joy and so much love.
Americans have a few things to learn from you:-)
God Bless President Obama and his lovely family:-)
Double Amens! Thanks so much Kasai for you beautiful comment.
Ain’t that the truth!!
Kasai, what a lovely comment. It was a joy and a privelige that President Obama visited our country. He is hugely popular and loved here, in Ireland and in the rest of Europe. He brings joy, love, intelligence and compassion everywhere he goes. Thank you America for electing such a world class leader.
God bless you Kasai and God bless President Barack Obama and his wonderful family.
You such a lovely person Sam…
Thanks for being a huge part of this blog family…
And thank you for supporting our phenomenal President…
Aww thanks Chi, you are too kind. It is great to be a part of such a caring and thoughtful blog family. It is an honor to support your great President. When I first started supporting him after his phenomenal 2004 keynote speech no one I knew over here in the UK had heard of him. Now obviously they all know of him and most support him and/or love him.
God bless. I am turning in now as it is 1 a.m here and my son has some friends sleeping over so I need to be up early to entertain and feed them. I just had to wait up to hear that PBO had arrived home safely.
Welcome Home Mr. President!!
I am doing my happy dance!
I’m so glad he’s back home safe and sound. Thank you Chipsticks for the incredible commentary on the Obama’s visit to Europe. What a week!! I still can’t believe I saw him here in London, I am still floating on air. I will try to copy a couple of photos from London tomorrow when my friend will be able to show me, I am such a dumba** when it comes to computers lol!
Good night all and I am so glad POTUS has arrived back in Washington safely and I bet he’s so pleased to see FLOTUS and the girls again. Already missing him here, It was such an honor that he visited the UK, I will never forget this week and the way I felt on Tuesday.
I’m so glad you got to see him Sam. I spoke to my sister in England and she said the world seems a nicer place this week because of the visit.
I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy.
Aww – he still looks fresh. Looks like he got some sleep on the flight. Thank you, for making sure we got this news and picture a.s.a.p. Chipsticks! I can tear myself away from my computer now.
Good! I am always relieved when people I love arrive home safe and sound. And what a magnificent trip, outstanding at every stop. And on he rolls, off to Missouri tomorrow for another important task, to see firsthand the devastation, console those who are grieving, to confirm and solidify the federal aid and to speak at a memorial.
LOL….I feel like a kid when my father would leave and come home from a trip how my siblings and I would scramble to be the first one to get a hug.
Someone was anxious to get home to his ladies! He was ahead of schedule; this seldom happens for presidents. I’ll bet he told the pilots to punch it. Daddy’s home!
I bet Sasha has first dibs, quickly followed by Malia, FLOTUS and Bo!!
I can just imagine Sasha and Malia seeing Daddy for the first time in over a week, Sasha specially, she’s the baby. I even bet Bo ran to him the minute he walked in. And his smile lite up the whole White House. I’m imagine Michelle said it hasn’t been that long since I’ve seen you, but baby I’m glad you’re home. Ha! Ha! Ha! Welcome Home Mr. President.
Awwright! Thank you, Lord! Hopefully he used the length of the flight to unwind a bit, maybe even sleep for a couple of hours. “Job well done, Mr. President! We are impressed with, and proud of, your representation of us abroad! Our heads are held high today. Also, congratulations on whatever groundwork you were able to lay (ex: with Russia). We know we will see the fruits of this in the months to come. A huge welcome home, Mr. President!”
I just watched him run down those AF1 stairs like NO one’s business. Well he never listens to our worries. I guess this is what we signed up for.
Whew. And he can still bound down the stairs like it was nothing. I’d be all draggin’ @$$ down the stairs. So, so glad he’s home.
He looks terrific.
Is it just me but does the pilot in the first picture look like he’s glad to have our President safely home, too?
He’s probably a little nervous and a lot amazed at how our President flies down those stairs! And girls….he does have big feet
Hahahahahaha…… I was trying NOT to go there. Bad Sue, Bad, Bad, Bad.
Especially with the picture of the Lincoln Memorial. Visual representation much?
Sorry. Washington Monument.. not Lincoln Memorial. But still … Visual representation much?
LMBO! Oh there will be lots of replies to this comment. You ladies crack me up.
OMG Sue!!!!! I must admit those are big feet indeed …..brought back some memories in Brazil…that glorious photo with him sitting……….. what a sight it was….but please don’t carry me back to that faithful day after all he is a married man and I am trying to live by the word of God. Lord please forgive my thoughts…….sigh
I Got that picture in my stash of hotness.
You Obama-ites are something else! I come on site, read about six comments then go to type my own and when I post and return there are ‘tons’ more comments ahead of me.
Don’t you just love usVC prezOfan2?
Don’t you just love us VC prezOfan2?
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a wonderful place to hang out – especially when you are ‘home alone’. a
Welcome home Sir and thanks Chips for a wonderful trip through Europe!
I can imagine POTUS and FLOTUS just sitting and relaxing together, laughing and saying, “did we just do all that?” So happy that they had some good time with the people of Moneygall and the Queen and the lovely time in London. BRAVO!!!!
I”m relieved that he is home. I always feel anxious when he travels abroad.
And I want to add my most sincere thanks to chips and the amazing job she did with this trip, keeping us up to the minute with all the news and photos and vids. We experienced every occasion with her good work, all the inspiration and beauty of every event. It was such fun, and I am most grateful.
Chips does a wonderful job, doesn’t she? She should charge us travel agency and entertainment fees. My first big presidential tour to Brazil under her aegis was unbelievable, and you’d better believe I’m booking with her for all upcoming presidential tours!
VC, you just made me roooOOOOOooooar laughing!
Amen, and welcome home sir. We missed you terribly while you were gone.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Malia and Sasha daddy is home!!!!!!!!! Wonder what the President bought for his babies? I know when I was little I use to look forward to my daddy bringing something for me…usually snacks but with a dad like theirs I guess it’s more like a souvenir lol!! Bet ya Michelle got his bath water running lol…he deserves it!!!
I was thinking about this earlier in the week – with his high profile and busy schedule when would he be able to personally choose anything for his girls? They are probably trained not to expect anything tangible, just his presence.
and that would be just enough to light up there world! Just being in their daddy’s arms
The sunshine welcoming him is significant to me. Welcome home Mr. President, I literally have tears of gratitude for all you are and all you do, for America and the world. May God be your strength and your shield.
I am missing HZ….has she been commenting in the last 24hrs? I hope she is just busy with other things…
I thought the same thing about the sunshine – it’s interesting that the sunshine kept coming out during the Europe trip just enough to cast a positive light on important events. And the fact that it was there to greet him when he got home is significant, too.
As for HZ – yes, where is she? I hope all is well.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen HZ here or at BWD’s. Wonder if she went visiting?
I think she has a post at BWD today, in the list of things everyone loves about PBO.
Welcome home, Mr. President!
Now get some rest tonight. It’s going to be a long day in Joplin tomorrow.
You’re so right Kay360; a long and emotional day.
You are right about that kay360. Looking at what those tornados done is horrible. I hope Michelle goes, because I know alot of people down there or out there could use a hug or two.
and she’s the First Huggable Lady! hoping she goes as well!
Welcome home, Mr President and a job so very well done. God bless you, Sir and your family and may He continue to guide your steps and decision making. May He open your eyes to His wisdom and always strengthen you in the mammoth task of leading the USA.
God bless you too Chipsticks for your hard work and for providing us with this wonderful site of shared love and togetherness
What a relief to have him home. I was actually exhausted just following him on his itinerary. I don’t know how he kept going, looking so young and vigorous and serious and affectionate toward everyone.
And what an accomplishment to get Russia to agree to help get Gaddafi out of Libya. Not only that, but to actually mediate with the rebels and Gaddafi forces to agree to a place for him to go.
This is what diplomacy looks like. It’s six feet, one inch tall, has beautiful hands, a handsome smile, and the longest feet I’ve ever seen in a pair of black leather shoes.
And he’s OUR president for the next five and a half years.
Woohoooo… HUBBA HUBBA.. YOWZA!… WOOHOOOOO!
Yes Joan, I really NOTICED the hands for the first time this week when he was signing whatever he was signing. They are indeed beautiful.
I know most of the girls here are enchanted with the size of his feet, but Joan I have to say his hands are so beautiful…..they totally send me. And just to be clear, I especially love his left hand with it’s beautiful and meaningful wedding ring. Michelle and Barack are IMO, the iconic “lovers” of this century. Sorry Brad and Angelina!
Welcome home dear Mr. President…
Thank you so much for all your great and impossibly hard work on behalf of the American people and the world…
Hey, check the total comments! From six to 50+ in a half hour. Wow, TOD-ers are on a roll!
We’re all on Monster Energy Drinks. It makes us exxxxxtrrreeeme!!!!!
That’s what you’re calling his return, ‘Monster Energy Drinks’? Works for me.
Here’s my little poem for President Obama welcome home:-)
O nly you can make the world smile:-)
B orn to lead was your destiny
A mazingly you bring comfort when we dispair, even a child knows your heart
M asterfully you conduct your daily duties
A Gem like you is rare on earth
Awww.. such a sweet and delightful poem. Thanks Kasai for being so thoughtful and witty to boot.
I kid you not…I was waiting all day to go grocery shopping…nothing to eat…LOL..and didn’t want to miss our President arrival…. finally I got something to eat:-)
Thank you all for the kind words.
Completely lovely. Thanks. He truly is the rarest of humans.

That is beautiful and so true.
Hah, Hah, Sam, I read above that you were turning in for the night in UK but we are glad you are still here with us. I suggest that you put something out for the kids because you may sleep through your intended wake up time
Thanks a lot for being part of the generous welcome President Obama, Mrs Obama and the whole team received from a decent and loving people. You made us proud to be part of the global family!!!
Hi Linda. Good intentions of an early night rarely happen, especially when PBO is travelling. It was an honor to have this great man here -(I know, I am repeating myself a lot but it’s true). Even with the late night I was still up at 7 am with the little guys. Only just had time to log in though.
Thanks again guys for the friendliness and love on this site. Love you all!
Awww this is soooo my pookie!!! Thanks Kasai
You’re welcome P
Please send that to him on his Birthday. Lovely and true.
I will Sue come August 4th…our President’s Birthday he will be 49.
I blessed the day……that Hawaii became the 50th? state of this United States (1959) only 2yrs prior to little Obama’s arrival.
When it comes to this President, I believe in divine intervention.
Actually he will be 50!!!!yay…..!!! I cannot wait!!!! I hope Michelle and the girls throw a big b’day bash for him
Oh yes 50…Wow…We must do something special for his half century celebration.
LOL @ Austin you are too funny…..But I hear you couldn’t get nothing done…till I saw him on American soil:-)
Hurrraaaaay! My President is back. Thank you lord for bringing him back home safely to us.
IT IS SO WONDERFUL TO SEE THE PRESIDENT HOME AT LAST…SAFE AND SOUND WITH MICHELLE AND THE GIRLS…AND OF COURSE ‘BO’ THE CAMERA HAM WITH FOUR PAWS!…:)
Thank God he is home. Wow! What a jam-packed week. Thanks Chipsticks, you outdid yourself this week.
Yeah, he’s baaccckkk, he’s Barack! and I’m breathing easier for it.
Welcome back Mr. President and congrats on the wonderful journey and accomplishments of this past week. Please know that even if the media doesn’t do it’s job in reporting it, there are legions of us who support you, care about you and are immensely proud of you.
Hope you get to enjoy your evening with your family uninterrupted. You’ve worked for it and you deserve it. Blessings all around.
So glad he is safely home. Hope he managed to get some sleep on the flight, especially since he will be traveling again tomorrow. What a guy!
Thank you Chipsticks for creating this fabulous site and for the hard work you put in covering President Obama. I hope you get some deserved rest this weekend because, like the President, you’ve been working non-stop. Thanks also for the wonderful people, full of love and positive energy, who post in this site.
So glad he is safely home. Hope he managed to sleep on the flight, since he will be traveling again tomorrow! Thanks for all the fantastic coverage of this European trip, Ms. Chips, you are the best.
Thank God for watching over our wonderful
President. I am so happy he is back safe and sound. Now I can get back to my regular sleep pattern. I wish he did not have to face the sorrow tomorrow in Joplin.
OMG OMG!!!!! Conservatives/ repubs are vile, hateful creatures. I’m watching c-span and they’re showing the Media Research Center ‘Dishonors Award’. They’re currently bashing PBO. They called a special award the Obamagasm award and insulting journalists who give PBO a fair and positive coverage. Neal Boortz is a piece of garbage. He’s denigrating the importance of PBO’s historic election and conservatives in the room are all whistling and cheering. He said that when Chris Matthews heard PBO’s Yes We Can speech and said he feels a tingle up his leg that he was a pervert and that he can PBO can go make love on LOGO( Logo is a gay rights channel on cable). He said that reporters who are covering PBO in a positive light are disgusting b/c PBO had a domestic terrorist Bill Ayers write his book: Dreams From My Father and he partied with him in his house and then he brought up the stupid Rev. Wright thing.
God these people are ANIMALS.
Frack Neal Boortz. His last name got it right, he’s a BOOR! None of the rats there are even laughing at him! Forget that, I’m gonna see what’s on FX
CSPAN is becoming a travesty. UGH.
I just went there to see that for myself. You know what, God does not reward hate. Mark my words, Rethugs will continue to fail. It’s a new day and we rule, if we remember God has a firm hand on what PBO is able to accomplish. Let’s continue to keep him and us in prayer, fight the hate, and just trust God. He’s got this one.
They’re pissed off that a bunch of reporters semi-conservative and otherwise said that PBO is better than Reagan. The reporters said that Reagan was more parochial, but PBO is a 21st century world leader. PBO understands that we live in an interconnected world. A bunch of teabagger folks are in the room too and are cheering. (and they wonder why we refer to them as teabaggers)
I don’t like what Tavis Smiley says about PBO but this Neal Boortz’s comments are bordering on racist. He said that Tavis Smiley works for white people and is always trying to rise above his station. That everything bad that happens to Tavis; he always labels it as white people’s fault. The hatred and vitriol in the room is frightening and disgusting. To think that any building in Washington, D.C. would allow these people to spew such racist, hateful words is scary. Every one who disagrees with them or has ever said a positve word about PBO or called out the teabaggers is subjected to hateful words. I mean they’re insulting Bob Schieffer for calling out the tea party and their members for spitting at congressmen and hurling racial epithets during the healthcare reform debate. They also insulted Keith Olbermann for calling them out and said that he’s on a channel where they hope that a car wreck takes out half his viewership. Who wishes that on another human being?
Alright, is c-span, the station we use to find out all the positive PBO news the other stations won’t show, now on our hit list? I accuse them of spreading racist speech. Game time.
What kind of progam is this, please?
OK but there’s no real benefit in bringing that trash behaviour here. We all know where to go if we want to read about “the crazies” – just google or do a search on Youtube using hate words for Obama and we can find it just as easily and sadly more than we can imagine. This crap is nothing new. It’s been going on since the 2007 primaries and will go on until at least his last day in office (hopefully that being January 2017). These hateful jealous people feed off the hate and our reaction to it – it’s best completely ignored.
Yes, we should ignore them, but I couldn’t help sending this message, as this viewing has just eliminated the last station I had to view anything positive in the political arena:
“I was alerted to the current program on at 8 pm , 5/28/11, with conservatives. Didn’t look long enough to get name of show, but heard that the dialogue is racist in nature. Shame on you all for allowing discourse such as this, which does nothing to enhance the mood of the nation, nor the economy, nor our standing in the world. If this is considered allowing free speech, then same can be done without benefit of broadcasting, with the main intent to insult the citizens of this nation. You may as well broadcast a KKK meeting (or maybe you also have that in mind). I used to rely on your station for intelligent coverage of positive gatherings, seminars, news items. No more. You have shown the need to compete against the normal cable chatter which does nothing to further any intelligent discourse. So sad. Good bye. ”
So, I have no more reason to view cable news programs. Chips, this makes me even more indebted to you. Bless you.
I’m with you, FORUS50. I used to complain (not here) when people would breathlessly de-rail (imho) a very positive thread with sewage and start with “This is OT, but…” and throw all the garbage all over the thread.
But, I’ve come to realize that some people just like to vent. It is what it is. It is not my site and I don’t call the shots. I’ve learned to just scroll on by, read all the beautiful comments, and enjoy my good vibes no matter what.
I’m just gonna enjoy that PBO is back on American soil safe and sound.
Sorry for getting everyone kinda down.. but I was shocked that c-span would allow such programming. I actually thought I was mistakenly watching Fox News. I think c-span wanted to give all sides “fair” coverage? I believe in arming myself with all kinds of information; pleasant or otherwise, b/c knowledge is power and I can use it to frame my discussions and observations in an intelligent manner. I can also use information to counter the naysayers and show what delightful things PBO has done and the level of vitriol that the other side often spew.
Agreed. Chipsticks has created a safe haven for us. A place where Obama’s leadership is cherished and respected. There is no need to bring that nonsense here. I admit I’ve been guilty of it as well, but I think it’s time that it stop. I truly think that one of the reasons that Obama is so successful is because he is slow to anger and he stays lazer focused on his goals, and he dares to dream BIG and more importantly he keeps working.
UT, they hate their own lives, hence the only way they can feel a modicum of peace is to denegrate others. Sadly, the gratification is only short lived because they have to wake up in the morning and look themselves in the mirror.
*cartwheels thru thread * YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!! he’s home and he looks mighty good!
All is well.
Can’t co cartwheels, doing “jumpin’ jacks thru post” – oops excuse me everyone – *smile*
welcome home President Obama and the supporting “cast”/team who have worked so tirelessly for us all/
thanks very much to the people of Europe for leaving no love behind as you welcomed our First Couple and thanks a lot for allowing us to have them back – no one would have blamed you if you held onto President and Mrs Obama.
special thanks to Ms Chipssticks and the TOD family for your hard work and generosity towards each other and POTUS. You make me especially proud to be an unapologetic and eternal Obama-supporter!
ps, pls do not forget to send a word of thanks for Team Obama and especially POTUS and FLOTUS through the White House website
I forgot about the support crew–Reggie L, Valerie J, Jay C, David P and COS and others. They are probably worn out too. Glad they are all home and back with their families. Thank the Lord they are home safe.
Love love, LURVE that my president is home. His women are waiting for him, I’m sure! Hugs, all around!

So glad he’s home, and so glad he did such a wonderful job in Europe! He is amazing. Glad others have noticed the President’s beautiful, strong, graceful hands. I trust the country to those hands.
Okay, so I’m seeing all of these welcomes. Hey everybody, please send your greetings directly to President Obama. I would love to know that he is receiving all this love directly. Flood his email box and let him know how concerned and grateful we are. We can all do this
I here now theo67 and VCprezOFan2. That is so very special to read your comments and to see how thoughtful you are about my whereabouts. I am crying more now. Thank you so much. I was crying as I was looking at all of the wonderful photos from Chipsticks from the arrival of our President, then there were your comments. You see, we have the best site ever. What a family of wonderful friends. I have been ill, but I also have a dear friend who is struggling with her marriage and I have been listening, praying and crying with her. Then I must rest because of my heart condition. But I will continue to listen and try to give caring words where I can. I love you Chipsticks for bringing us together like this. Thanks so very much. I love you all so much. And Welcome Home, Mr. President.
I hope that your health continues to improve and that if flurishes with the coming of the Summer sun. Clearly your kind and generous spirit is needed here, in your family and friends and especially the one you are consoling. I will keep you and your friend in my thoughts and prayers – may emotional comfort and a better future come your way
And you will be in my prayers for your heart condition HZ, as I have prayed for you before. I’ll even put in one for your friend.
Thanks so much EDP4BHO. You all are so special on this site. You are my family. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Your kind words shall keep me going.
Oh there you are HZ! Glad to know you are okay. It was Sue in Minnesota who first noticed that you hadn’t checked in yet today, so I’m sure she also will be relieved to see you. Will try to remember your friend in prayer tonight, and take care of yourself.
HZ I was worried, I always look forward to the spirit and kindness of your words. I know you have some health issues, and frankly was worried that you were under the weather. Of course you were giving of yourself to others….that is so you. Glad to hear your voice, but take care to give yourself what you need to get back to wellness.
Sue, thanks so much. I hope you and my dear friends here now how much I love you all. You all are so kind and respectfu, and that is one of the many things I love about our family here. I got a call from my neighbor(the one I spoke of with marriage problems) and I did not get back to respond, but here goes: “Thanks to my Chipsticks family with the house full of so much love.” You all make me cry tears of joy. Sue, VCprez, theo67,globalcitizen, and EDP4BHO, thank you ALL. I am lighting ‘Loving Thank-You-Candle tonight with music. Love you all.
Thanks you VCprezOfan2. What kindness you have. Thanks for informing me that it was Sue. I just sent a thank you. You all are the best. And Chipsticks is God’s beautiful angel for all of us. What a beautiful family we have here. Thank you so much.
They could have at least let Bo out to meet him, lol.
i was thinkin the same thing, it would have been lovely to see the ENTIRE family go out to greet him. this way he looks lonely
How lucky we are to have someone in charge who took the oath of office and meant every word of it, welcome home Mr. President, we’re so glad you’re back, thank you for giving so much of yourself.
Add me to the lengthy list of people that are so glad that our President made it home safe and sound. Off to Joplin tomorrow to comfort all those people that are suffering after the tornado blazed a devastating path.In our prayers once again.
So happy to see the only adult return to D.C.
Don’t leave out the VP, gobrooklyn. Joe Biden is a VP President Obama can count on. I do believe that.
Welcome home President Obama
Is is just me or has any other president had to be Mourner and Comforter in Chief as much as PBO? Is it just that times are more hectic or is it that we demand more of this president than any other previous president? Granted, I’ve really only ever been cognizant of Clinton and Bush and was a baby and not living here under Hurbert Bush, but still. I don’t remember Clinton and Bush doing anything other than Oklahoma, 9/11 and Katrina. Not that those three things aren’t huge and extremely important, but PBO has had to go to the site of an oil spill, the tragedy in Tuscan, Alabama, the coal mining tragedy, Joplin, and I’m pretty sure I’m missing some other stuff. The point is, previous presidents have only gone to the sites of MAJOR incidents. But PBO has to be president, governor, mayor, father, brother, preacher, teacher and I could go on, and on and on. PBO is uniquely capable and gifted to do these things, but my point is, how comes we ask more of him in my opinion, than ANY other president- then the American people turn around and diss him, talking about how he’s no good, he’s Hit*er, and a socialist and the devil, but when they are in trouble, he’s the first one they call like he’s Jesus on Earth? There is some cognitive dissonance going on in this country and we need to highlight that to the American public. You can’t believe this man is wholly evil and then beg at his feet for help when you are in trouble. That is really pissing me off. I really hate that he doesn’t get the love and respect he deserves, damnit! I really feel for all those people he’s gone to comfort and I feel for the people of Joplin and my prayers are with them- this is not intended as a diss towards them, I’m just making a point on the larger issue. NO other president has ever, will ever come close to this one, and if the American people don’t see that, then they are seriously in need of help. Regardless of what the Kochies do and regardless of what the repugs say, just the fact that he drops his a agenda and runs to help people should be more than enough for them to see that PBO is the best of the best. It irritates me to no end that they can be so easily manipulated. Yes the Kochs have alot of money and yes, the repugs lie well, but we play a part in our manipulation too. Case in point, death panels….really? WTF? Really? Also the Parasite Losers…. “if we don’t get all we want then PBO is Bush-lite with a tan” ???? Really?…..Really? Sometimes I don’t know how PBO does this crap. I’m truly disgusted with politics and to some extent, I’m sick of our gullibility. Where does it end?
Co-signed to your entire comment above.
Glad to have him home.
Me too co-signed, you are so on point.
I believe that there’s a double standard when it comes to this President. They are itching to find something out of ordinary, they tried everything they could make up…from birthers to religion and everything in between.
For centuries this country couldn’t even believe that a black man was equal to a human being, let alone getting used to a black man being in the White House, even in 2011 educated black men and women have to work 3 times as hard to get a nickel raise.
I believe there;s still a lingering racism, in some parts of this country, still has a hard time facing reality, therefore they have a new standard. They just weren’t aware that this President raised his bar higher than anyone could have expected. He also knows. what’s going he lived it, even as a child, and his mother thought him well, to rise above the pettiness and keep on moving or keep dancing
I’ve never seen the blatant disrespect towards this beautiful human being ever.
One thing we know for sure is, that Love Always Wins and Hate Kills
That was exactly what I meant when I posted about the disgusting Media Research Center ‘dishonor awards’ that c-span allowed to air tonight. They mock PBO, call him a coward, and all sorts of names, but at the first hint of trouble, everyone wants a piece of him. They want him to fix all their problems with a magic trick, they want him to write speeches that show he’s a “human being” and all that jazz. Thank you Lisa for articluating all our frustrations so eloquently.
I agree the ill will and nasty, disrespectful treatment that is exploited by our MSM is gut wrenching. I wish I knew of an effective way to marginalize our MSM.
Reminding myself of all that we are witness to, via this website, Pete Souza, BWD, et al gives me perspective, encourages me, and assures me that in fact we have the momentum. Remember what you focus on expands, be aware, but don’t dwell….give your attention to what is positive and inspiring. Yes.We.Can.
Well I just have to chime in here. To me it’s the old “mammy and uncle” syndrome. Historically, during slavery and thereafter, black people were either in the fields or in the big house, doing the daily work of keeping their white slaveholders (I refuse to call them masters) in comfort of all sorts, never compensated. Black people were counted on to birth white babies, nurse white babies, be their caretakers, bear the troubles of the misses, and basically became as favored for these forced labors as family members. Yet, being held as chattel, were never respected as human beings. Fast forward, black folk are still relied on for housekeeping and caretakers, cleaning staff, etc., entertainers for the delight of some who continue to see blacks in the historic view—-only for the comfort of white folk. Therefore, we are still not respected for intelligence, even though it is plain that we have brains; not appreciated for being able to govern a country, citing many African nations in disarray with corrupt leaders; viewed as sidekicks (TV) much more often than as lead characters. In other words, we are subordinate to white folk. So, President Obama is that nurturer, that “uncle” so to speak. He is only President by default in some people’s eyes. If this were Bush or any other past president, there would never be this kind of condescension. Bottom line, it’s pure racism. I insist we needn’t ever ask why.
xxco-sign. Right there with you on this assessment. The historical archetype “noble savage” and modern permutation of the “super duper magic negro” bears witness by the sheer weight and volume of expectations thrust upon this president each and every day. For communities like this, people of color and especially african americans it is hard to stomach. We just feel it deeply. We worry. We lament. We celebrate the moment our president returns home to his family and country.
Oh yeah! I’ll sign on to that Lisa. These very thoughts run through my head on a daily basis. Thanks for saying it so well.
It’s celebration time, come on, celebrate!!!!!!!!
This place really jives a good song and poetry and cheers, even tears. We are all so bonded together in our admiration
and reapect for our President. All this good noise is sending out warm energy to help refresh him. I can see Sasha, Miss Energy, trying to jump up and be held by her daddy. She is still the baby, only growing, and needs to hug but not strain daddy’s back. I noticed this in recent times. Malia, gentle like he daddy, will give some loving to. I can imagine how happy he is to see them. Even BO with his good manners will want to give him a big hello. I know Michelle is glad to have him home even though it was just a short separation.
HZ, sending out warm, warm energies your way with prayers and a lightening of candles at gratefulness.org Please accept our wishes and prayers for you and let the warmth surround your heart in healing.
Chips, you are the bearer of good news and we all love you. You work as hard as the President with a little help from your friends. Thank you and all the TOD crew for the happiness you give to others.
Thanks barb. I love you for your kindness. I am having a nice piece of cheeze cake now with my candles and music. Thanks for the candles at gratefulness.org. I am going to go over and light one. Prayers and good thoughts. Thank you so much.
I hope he has some good quality time with his family tonight before he moves on to Missouri tomorrow.
Like a lot of you, I’m suffering sleep deprivation from simply trying to keep up with him.
Bless you all and thanks Chipsticks for putting our minds at rest and letting us know he arrived safely.
You all, we are going to make it. You know why? Simply because we believe in our President. We trust him, We respect him, we will continue to work hard for him, and we will lift him up in prayers to God. Remember, they can’t take our love, devotion, our prayers, our good deeds, our hard work from us. Those are ours. If our hearts are filled with goodness, doing the right things with our President, we will prevail. Evil hearts, minds, and deeds will come full circle for all that they do. Just remember that. Some of us may be here to witness it, and some of us will not, but in any case, it will be repaid to them. So, let us rejoice in the good that we see our President doing each day, and let us give thanks that we are able to be a part of his wonderful presidency, and we will be just fine. Yes, we get upset, angry, really, really mad, but we let it go after we come to each other and feast from our wells of love, respect, true facts, and knowing that God has given us a once in a lifetime President to enjoy and do great things with. Let’s move toward that. I love it that we have each other to vent, but know that God is faithful to us and He will have his angels right alongside of POTUS to protect, guide and direct him. Our President has faith. Remember he told us that he prays each day. So let us NOT allow them to suck the living joy out of us. We Will Enjoy This President. I decided last year, no more will I allow the negative, ugly spirits of these ugly ones hold us back. We are going to move forward with Presiden Barack H. Obama. We will keep smiling and we will put on our “Do Not Piss (excuse me, please) Off Now Face. Just like POTUS. I love you all and you are my family. Now let us go and light some candles in our spaces, have a cup of tea/coffee, eat some chocolate, put some jazz on, read a great book, pour a lovely glass of wine, and the heck with the others. And let us pray that wisdom will be granted to POTUS in his trip to Joplin and may his words comfort, encourage, and lift so many people up. He gets peace and joy from these times also. I believe they make him even stronger. Be not dismayed, we will overcome all of this. I love you all, and I thank God for Chipsticks for all of the hard work that is constantly put in on this site for us to enjoy and interact in a positive and respectful manner. I love you all!!!!
Oh HZ May the good Lord continue to bless you and yours for all of your lives and beyond. This sweet post just made me well up with joyful tears and hope in my heart. I know that even though there are unpleasant vitriol that we have to made aware of so that we can fight lies with TRUTH b/c as they say: Knowledge is power; but there are sites and people here that have PBO’s back every second of every day. I hope your health continues to improve in leaps and bounds b/c the TOD family needs your eloquent words of love and wisdom. I will take your advice and switch to TV Land to watch Everybody Loves Raymond and The Nanny. I hope you have a wonderful night HZ and I sincerely hope to “see” you online tomorrow. Once again thank you and stay blessed.
Amen, co-sign and hallelujah. Sometimes my frustration with the mendacity gets the best of me, but I trust and believe in PBO and his vision. We really do have to keep the faith and endure the nastiness because just like PBO said in his Ireland speech,: after the storms comes spring time…. if people keep on telling you that you can’t, that it won’t get better, remember all we’ve been through before, and if they still come at you, just remember a simple creed: YES WE CAN!!! IS FEIDER LINN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN!!!!!
Those are beautiful words HZ. You put my mind at rest. I will say a prayer for your health tonight and also for your friend who is having marriage problems. It is such a comfort to know that there are good people out there spreading love and peace. Good night and God bless.
Bless your soul HZ, thank you for such kind words of inspiration, my prayers and good wishes are with you for your well being.
Much love to you
He sure looks good coming down those steps. Not tired at all. Rushing to get home to his babies. He had a wonderful and successful trip and off again tomorrow. Wish he could bottle that energy and sell it!
Always lovely when he returns home safely. Love our President!
My last post for the night. While some here have cautioned against venting about negativity toward PBO, I think we all have to consider each person’s views and how he/she is affected by current events. This site is a haven, no doubt, which is why it should be a place where supporters “can” vent when the need arises. Where else can one release the frustrations of witnessing the media doing hatchet jobs against President Obama, and receive assurance that we are all in this together? That our needs will be met, and our President will garner the success he so deserves? While I don’t propose we dwell on the negativity, there will always be occurrences that just get our goat, and we need a friendly ear, and reminders of the strength of PBO and the model he maintains for our own self-improvement. We need to “listen” like PBO does, yet be reminded not to take into our spirits the ugliness rampant in the politics of the day. Just my 2 cents
Thank you soooooooo much for this EDP4BHO. This was my thought exactly when I vented about the c-span conservative programming that mocked PBO and others in a vile, disgusting manner. I will keep on repeating this: Knowledge is power. We might want to escape all things unpleasant, but we have to be aware of lies that are being perpetrated out there in the MSM and be free to come here, vent to the TOD family and together come up with actions that can stop the lies one at a time. Through the TOD family we have found out that the Koch Brothers are republican funding machines and we have found out how to let our displeasure known through emails and signing of petitions of various groups, politicians and media outlets that pander to crazies. So once again thank you for your “two cents.” It was greatly appreciated.
UT..I am with you, we cannot let the Media get away with lies after lies….
We must make our voices heard…loud and clear.
I know that some might say, we need to ignore them….Well, we did just that in the primaries of 2010 and we saw the result….the media covered all the noise from the teabbagers…and the silent majority remained silent.
I believe that when the President says ” I need you to fight for me, I need you to spread the word in what we doing…he means just that….we must fight, we saw the persistence of media matter and other liberal sites, they bombarded the media and it’s sponsors with email, calls, and boycutts to finally get rid of Glen, slowly but surely it works.
What doesn’t work is, to sit, listen… to the garbage thrown at this President day in day out and DO NOTHING.
I would rather make noise now…than be sorry later.
your two cents were well worth reading.
My thanks Ed.
Your 2 cents works for me:-)
Coming late to this thread tonight, but would like to add my words to the wonderfully long chorus if well wishes fir PBO’s safe return.
With this being my 1st week as part of the TOD family, I went to sincerely thank Chipsticks and all you here for a truly enjoy environment to be a part of during PBO’s historic European visit.
That is what I know as all of my family member have stated above. We need this place to vent because this stuff really hurts each one of us. And it may take a moment for some of us, and yes it may take days for some of us. But we know this, we are family here who know that we have a foundation of a healthy love for each other’s pain and hurt of how our leaders is being hurt each day. I love it that we all realize that we are a good and decent family who can come to the table and say,”I need to talk, or I need some help in this situation, I am hurting so badly. And now for sure I feel so angry, can we talk?” And what will a loving family member(s) do. We sit , listen, cry, speak, and encourage each other. I know, because my dear and gentle brother is on another coast with a high profile judicial career, and I long to just be able to drive over to his home and just talk, but I can’t, so I choose my college best friend(who is like family) and my Father, and you all. So we will not be shy in sharing our venting , but we know that there is a higher power out there who will keep us calm, and firm with love and truth to the haters. So let us gather around the table and feast on the wonderful loving family member that we have here to get through these next 6 years. We will make it. Just come to the table and be fed with warm loving, tasteful, homecooked meals of joy, love, and peace. They can’t take that away from us. Chipsticks has built the foundation, so we are stable. We need each other and we will support each other. You are so correct, each member of our family will respond in different ways, and we know that and we will honor that because that is who we are. “We are better than that.” Barack Obama. Remember those words. Our family is better than that, and we love each member no matter how hard it may hit us. We have each other. I know that we will always care, love, respect, and enjoy each other. I just feel that. We will thrive on the goodness about each of us. So we will support each other, that is what family does. We have one of best families in this cyber world. Amen. I love you all. Goodnight Chipsticks, and thank you so much for this beautiiful haven. Oh, remember to pray for POTUS for tomorrow in Joplin. Love you all.
Vent away UT Austin Liberal. I think it’s great that we can come here, and express our admiration for the President, as well as our frustration with those who continue to deride him.
Many of you have expressed so many of my thoughts and feelings. I too sometimes get discouraged, but I try to look at it this way. It has taken people some years to get used to a new kind of leader. I know a lot of this is racist, I feel it. But, I also think that whatever Democrat was elected, the neocons would have tried this hatchet job. That is their only weapon. Imagine what they would have bried on VP Biden, with his funny remarks that soe people get in a snit about! (Think BFD! what a tempest in a teapot!) They would have ridden him on a rail. I know that President Obama has surpassed all his enemies, outthought them, outplanned them, outcharmed them, outnegotiated them……and with our support, and the quiet support of tens of millions of others will prevail.
As someone also mentioned, we need to make noise: write the media! write the Demo senators, encourage Nancy Pelosi and Debbie W-S, and write the President and encourage him. I try to write, not too often, but often enough to join with others in encouragement.
So happy he’s home too. What a journey this past week has been, thanks Chips for taking us on the ‘ride’ with them.
Everything within the poem is Barack Obama. It made me think of another poem that I love that also speaks to everything he is. Desiderata by by the American writer Max Ehrmann (1872-1945).
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.
