‘bombs away’

P M Carpenter: At ‘Netroots Nation’ yesterday:

four panelists – [gay-activist Lt. Dan] Choi, immigration reform supporter Felipe Matos, America Blog writer John Aravosis and Fire Dog Lake Founder Jane Hamsher – said they are planning to hold the White House’s collective feet to the fire for its decisions on civil rights, whether it would hurt Obama’s reelection chances or not.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to chuckle. I realize these are serious issues, and in no way do I diminish their importance. But being threatened by the adolescent malcontents of the utterly insignificant, whining teapot-tempests of Americablog and FireDogLake is like being under fire from the Italian infantry, circa 1943. One scarcely notices.

*****

Be good to yourself, subscribe to PM Carpenter’s blog, it’s utterly sublime

****

Thank you Betsey

So, if their behavior threatens the President’s re-election chances, what’s their answer to the millions who will go without help on a number of fronts. Or doesn’t that matter to these idiots? I’m so sick of their adolescent behavior.

It won’t. Any more than the opinions of my pre-K students will affect the rotation of the earth. Nada que ver, as they say on the novelas.

They’ll just say that is the President’s fault too. It’s worth it to have a Republican stack the Supreme Court, in addition veto power and the ability to write regressive Executive Orders. It’s worth it to cut off your nose, to spite your face. After all, everything bad is the President’s fault. Everything good is because of them holding the President’s feet to the fire, the same President who can’t do anything right and never listens to them.

DADT ended because of heckling and Lt. Choi taking off his West Point ring. There is no way that DADT would have ended without these acts. Those were the events that irreversibly altered the debate. President Obama and his extensive negotiations that got buy-in from the top brass had nothing to do with it. It was heckling and Daily Kos diaries that made all the difference.

These people are not to be taken seriously.

I am not crazy about polls being taken every other week on this President but I do like the fact that he consistently proves the insignificance of these professional pessimists. They speak for a sliver, of a particle, of a molecule of fringe and no one else.

The President himself had said that changes implemented in these laws had been works in progress for a long time before Choi got himself umbillically attached to a fence.

Wasn’t Dan Choi gay and in the military when Bush was president? Did anyone ever hear of this Dan Choi person demand any equality from Bush?
How is it possible this guy who did not vote for or support this president can demand/command that PBO specifically cater to his every need while holding him to standards higher than the previous president with whom he shares a party affiliation and of whom he never demanded shit!
How is it possible that a gay republican can get away with disrespecting the commander in chief especially one he never supported or voted for by usurping the now forever tainted and ridiculous “progressive” movement!

You need to ask Rachel Maddow the weiner woman these questions, then also ask Lawrence O’Donnell also. These folks love to have the Choi on their show.
