good morning TOD family;may GOD guide the President as he has to deal with the Left and the Right on the whole debt ceiling debate and may the Holy Spirit find a way for him to win that battle with the Righties and may GOD bless and protect him as well
Timng being everything, this was a joke to be delivered at the WHCD the night before the nation was advised that OBL had been killed.
The nation had no idea at that time, however the President knew OBL’s days were “so yesterday.”
Hahaha Keith, the joke had nothing to do with the public’s attention span. The White House Correspondents Dinner was held on Saturday April 30th, 2011 and when David Axelrod went over the day before (Friday) to help the President wih his jokes, he suggested using Bin Laden as a middle name for Tim Pawlenty, because T-Paw is soooooooo boring and the middle name would be the most exciting thing about T-Paw but the President said, “that’s so yesterday” meaning, on Sunday May 1st, 2011 he and Seal Team Six were going to bring down OBL so he suggested using the name of the Former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak as the punch line to the T-Paw joke; because if he had used Bin Laden’s name it would be morbid.
OH, WOW…..I remember watching clips of the Correspondence Dinner. I especially like the roasting of Donnie Trump throughout the Prez’s standup. Thanks for you thorough explanation of this video and the meaning behind this thread ut. Appreciate it.
Thanks for the explanation utaus, but that’s a complicated joke, not that funny, to ME, I’m like Keith, I would have never ever understood what that was about, however, I’m so glad you explained It fully. Thank you
Wow! What a story. President Obama’s coolness level just shot up the roof! Everytime I hear snippets or behind the scenes stories of the mission to bring down OBL, I’m amazed at how cool, unflappable and calm President Obama was. Only super essential people knew what was going on. I watched the President’s comedy routine at the WHCD yesterday, and when Seth Meyers made the joke about Bin Laden not hiding in the Kush Mountains, but hosting a show from 4-5pm on c-span, not only did the President laugh, but Bob Gates chuckled along too. Looking back one wonders how these men didn’t crack under all that overwhelming pressure. How do you resist confiding in many people, so that you can receive more input. Just imagine, at that time Trump the Chump was being an absolute nuisiance, repubs were threatening a govt shutdown and there was the economy to deal with. Yet the President casually tells David Axelrod, “that’s so yesterday.” Wow!…. just Wow!
And because our beloved Prez Is so brilliant, he’s ALWAYS a few steps ahead. I tell you, It’s oh so wise of our Prez to only tell a few people, about the OBL situation. My Mom taught me at an early age, If you don’t want your business spread all over town, then you don’t tell a SOUL, her exact words. That’s wise, and also good advice.
Utaustinliberal, as always, you hit the nail on head! Your ability to capture the essence of President Obama is very impressive. Clearly, this President knows how to walk, dance, and chew gum, all at the same time!
The President said in his interview with 60 minutes that only a small circle of people knew and he was so happy that no one leaked the information about the mission. As much as he respects and trust Axelrod no sharing and no jokes about laden… If I recall Seth made the only joke about bin laden… ha ha ha…..
Chipsticks do you have a way to suggest to me how to locate the audio of Vice President’s speaking to the teamsters in Las Vegas on 7-1-2011?
Lastly, have you posted the ECHO chamber clip featuring Bernie Sanders?
Thank you for the above link to the speech.. I now it was on fire because when I google trying to look for it I see right wingers were upset.. ha, ha, ha,,,,
This is the link to ECHO chamber but I forgot how to do the Youtube thing so as to hide other suggested videos..
Jovie, could you repost the link to the Washington Post article on what was revealed from the treasure trove of items seized at the compound. I thought I bookmarked it, but can’t find it now. It was a fascinating read. Thanks…..
Sigh, I wish for once these groups would defend the president’s record on their pet projects. He’s doing the heavy lifting. When do we step in and help carry the mantle. Not a slam on you Jovie. It’s just everyone is saying how he must bully pulpit this and get the message out that. It is frustrating for me, so I can imagine how he must feel. I know these environmental groups have their websites and hopefully they are keeping their readers informed, but that’s basically preaching to the choir. I can’t help but wonder if they are getting before their local press and highlighting things like the ban on mountaintop mining or such.
Jovie, here you go again posting another link about what people are telling President Barack Obama to do from a souce who prays and wishes the President to fail. All these quote on quote super people should run for President if they want to do so much…
I find it curious that you always seem to find sites that Chipsticks has clearly asked you not to post here. Your lame excuse was you didn’t know the difference between a right leaning site.. Well the hill report is not a fan of the President and you can clearly see when they start their stories… Now if you think you are a troll maybe you should work on that perception.
Jovie, just be mindful that The HIll is edited by Hugo Gurdon, former editor of right wing British hate rag The Daily Telegraph. Like GOPolitiico, I have no problem with straight news pieces being linked from there, but I don’t want stuff that is infested with right-wing talking points and propaganda. Thanks.
There’s lots of balanced, top class reporting and commentary out there Jovie – eg Steve Benen, Michael Tomasky, Steve Kornacki, etc. Check the blogroll for links.
Hey Chips. Hope you’re having a great sunday! Sorry to be shallow here…. but Steve Kornacki is sooooooo HOT! Mix his hotness with his intelligence and pragmatic quest for truth and Hamna Hamna Hamna……. ssssmoking!!!!
Glad you checked him out Sue. I don’t think I can get a hold of myself. Everytime someone mentions his name, my brain melts. When I see him on TV, forgetaboutit I just start yelling….. I think you’re HOT!!!!! Ohmigod.. you’re sooooooo HOT!!!.. Hamna… Hamna… Hubba .. Hubba… mama likey!
So went and had a look-see at this Hotness and found several articles he’s written on the rise of the Chris Christie Democrats aka Dirty Dems. Interesting. Apparently, Christie was able to get his union busting bill and overhaul of benefits to workers due to Democratic support that had less to do with politics and more to do with deals cut between Party bosses and the new gov in early 2009. A follow up article shows that one dem party boss who was instrumental in getting Christie’s bill through got a sweet deal in appreciation from Christie for doing his dirty work: the sale of NJ’s new jersey network to a new york company who will contract with one party boss’s friend’s son’s company….ugh!!! I know I’m not explaining it right. I’m adding a link to Steve’s page which catalogs his articles. The most current one is on top so start from the bottom, there are only three articles about this, but I think it’s ridiculous and shows that partisanship ends where greed begins. I’m so disgusted. Can’t believe this. Shame. :
I think that the president and Tim geitner has effectively warned the public and the press, what would happen if their was a default.
We could at least be even in the blame game, at least.
If the republicans ideology really wants to Do this, do you know the presudent has the authority to end alll subsidies, and tax breaks for the wealthy?
Plan b is the biggest line item veto in the history if the nation.
I have a feeling we are going to prevail on the debt ceiling debate. The numbers are in our favor, especially public opinion. Allow the President to work his MAGIC folks. He has given Congress till July 22nd to wrap things up.
Keith, I believe in my gut that the Republicans have overreached here. Timing is everything. Just look at how it is only now that the Democrats are pushing their message that Republicans are out to sabotage the economy for their own gains in 2012. They are taking their lead from the president during his press conference when he literally told the Republicans to stop this nonesense.
On Friday Chuck Schumer held a tele-conference with reporters pushing this. And while the Dems don’t have too many reporters sympathetic to them, there are a few that you will see pushing this message.
And on top of that, I would really like to see us dedicate some time to this message via our tweets, e-mails, facebook, etc. We have to be religious about it for the next couple of weeks.
Wishing you all a Happy 4th! weekend. Don’t you just love David Axelrod’s zingers? “…it’s a target rich environment.” I remember his line minutes after POTUS was announced the winner. “I’m willing to concede we won.”
I love his quick but so very dry humor.
Is everyone else as addicted to this site as I am? Never mind,,,,I think I know the answer.
I think of it as my daily dose of positivity. Expand on the positive……this site is case in point…..the community just keeps growing and growing. Cue Stevie Wonder’s song” Positivity”…….which I love, also Time 2 Love.
Axe was awesome, on point, discussed all policy successes. What did that woman say? She said something like: “everybody is professing their love for the president, I work in the Administration…” ? is that what she said? and if so, why did you hear the crowd gasp or chuckle or whatever it is they did?
ps- I liked how he put that jibe about Hunstman in: “I was surprised because I was with him in China in 2009 and he was very effusive about the president, but I guess this is politics so I shouldn’t be surprised.”——-or something like that. Basically all I heard was: Disingenuous Backstabber.
He definitely was. But I wish he would have told Klien that he was talking a lot of bull when he said that the president did not tell the public about his acomplishments, i.e. tax cuts, etc. I am sitting here wanting to crack my computer screen.
The news media chose not to report those stories. Instead, they want to write about Teaparty coming to Washington, D.C., Britney Spears underpants and other fluff.
What is wrong with these people? If you and I know about these tax cuts and other things, why don’t those sitting in the room know? They want the president to get out there yelling from the top of his lungs like he is on some Jerry Springer show. I don’t accept Klein’s contention that this is the only president he knows who gave out tax cuts and he did not tell the public. The media chose not to tell the public. I am not finished watching the tape. I had to stop it and write this comment. Sheesh. Now back to finish the video.
Loved it when Klein said he wished the public knew about the fierce pushbask against the financial instutions and Axe came back with this brilliant retort: Maybe we can get a good writer to write about it. That was sweet, right on the money. The information is out there but these reporters won’t write about these issues. To my mind, Klein questions and some from the audience seem to come from the same old tired PL playbood.
Anybody here has a deficit in passion for this president? Last question guy stated deficit in passion. I disagree completely. He needs to stop by here or over at BWD, TPV, WeeSeeYou.
I truly enjoyed listening to Axe answer those questions, but I was also tuned into what some of these people were asking. And I think some of those questions could be answered best if they have been listening to the president.
Bravo Africatimes2a! Thanks you so much for articulating so well everything I felt about that interview. Granted Axe is not the most charismatic representative for Obama, but he really answered all the questions very well. By the way, any one who has seriously listened to what President Obama has been saying, instead of listening to the pundits’ reframing of what the President said, and then constructing a memee that he has failed to communicate, would have known that most of those questions were bogus! I say the questions were bogus because they were based on what the media said and not on what actually happened. The President has been talking about infrastructure. The President has been promoting green jobs. The President has repeatedly talked about the tax cuts for 95% of Americans. The President has repeatedly confronted Republicans, including the time he addressed the Congressional Republican Caucus, pointing out that their policies had been tried and failed. The President has been talking about investing in education and and research. Most importatly, the President has been talking about reviving U.S. manufacturing to make sure that the U,S, competes on the world stage. Repeatedly, in many of the clips of his speeches, during his travels in the country, that this site and BWD site posts, I’ve always heard the President emphasize the importance of manufactured products made in the good old USA.
I’ve said this before, and I will say again, President Obama is one of the best communicators, so far as I am concerned. Since I became a mature adult, I’ve lived under nine Presidents, and I know of no other President who has been so focused in connecting with the American people as President Obama has. The problem, IMO, is that the main stream media (MSM) deliberately make sure to filter, or completely ignore, transmitting his messages to the people. In the end, most people believe in the filtered message, about President Obama, that they get from the MSM.
HOLY MOLY! holymoly – thanks soooooo much for that video!!!!!!! I am so proud that Axe took the time to speak and I was disappointed when the video ended. I looked around for part II. WOW! See Chipsticks – this is why your site is so invaluable – we are able to see, hear and discuss so much needed information.
.@ABC assuming we'll tire of asking Qs re @JonKarl's collusion with GOP over doctored Benghazi emails. Let's disappoint them, keep asking. 12 minutes ago

so yesterday indeed
good morning TOD family;may GOD guide the President as he has to deal with the Left and the Right on the whole debt ceiling debate and may the Holy Spirit find a way for him to win that battle with the Righties and may GOD bless and protect him as well
And the congregation says Amen! Amen! Amen!
Amen
And the preacher says can I hear it again? Can well all say, Amen. Amen, Amen, one more time!
Amen.
Amen !!
In Jesus Name, Amen!
AMENNNNNNNNN
Can’t believe I’m first. Thanks Chips. Anyways don’t understand the post. The “so yesterday” theme.
The President referred to OBL as “so yesterday” when it was suggested that his name be used in a joke.
Timng being everything, this was a joke to be delivered at the WHCD the night before the nation was advised that OBL had been killed.
The nation had no idea at that time, however the President knew OBL’s days were “so yesterday.”
Guess I’m not first. Congrats Fred.
thanks Keith
Oh, thanks Bill. Guess the Prez is very aware of the short attention span of the public. He is brilliant.
Hahaha Keith, the joke had nothing to do with the public’s attention span. Hi Michele, so sorry, only saw your message now, still catching up after missing most of yesterday here!
I’ve been trying to find a video of Biden’s speech to the Teamsters but no luck so far – there’s just a very short clip here:
http://www.ktnv.com/multimedia/videos/?bctid=1034524799001
I was hoping the International Brotherhood of Teamsters would have it on their website, but not yet.
Would you have a link to the Bernie Sanders video?
Thanks Michele.

Environmental groups hope the president defends his green record:

So do I.

Michelle, way to early in the morning for you to think I am a trioll.
The point us he has a good record on the environment and he should run on it!
I find it curious that you always seem to find sites that Chipsticks has clearly asked you not to post here. Your lame excuse was you didn’t know the difference between a right leaning site.. Lol! All reporting are all against the president.
That is my take. Next.

Plead guilty.
Where was this video from? I love Axelrod, I would love to watch the whole interview.
WOW. LOVE that clip! I love the peek behind the scenes. I can’t wait for the books to come out years from now. My Prez is one cool customer.
Is there a video of the whole interview?
here you go
Brilliant Holymoly, thank you!
pleasure
Thank you holymoly!
