Good morning all! Should be an interesting day.

Premature freakouts, inaccurate interpretations, unfactual second-hand information, doom-and-gloom predictions, and prophesies of the sky is falling, go that-a-way ————–>

Will await today’s development with curiosity and confidence.

Have a great day, everyone    !!!

      2. OMG!!!! The traffic is crap.

      3. OMG!!!! There’s cheese on my burger…. CHEESE!…. oh the inhumanity.

      4. OMG!!! I ordered a grilled chicken burger not a freakin HAMBURGER!!!… help! help! the waitress is trying to kill me!

      5. OMG!!!! Why won’t Sarah Palin quit winking?…. Everytime she does that my lights go: on-off, on-off.

      6. OMG!!!! Should I wear flip flops or sandals today!!!! What’s HOT in the fashion magazines?

Frankly I don’t have any more time in my shallow space to freak out about rightwing and leftwing crap. I’ll just wait for PBO to do the great thing he always does: Fixing the mess and putting the country on sound footing. ;)

Me three! You know, the Professional left is the reason why we have this extreme Congress, because they depressed the Dems, and they didn’t came out to vote. So, it’s our job to educate, and expose these impostors!

Right on Ms Chips! Trust the president! I do! Remember, he is a master negotiator. He understands that he and the democrats will not get everything they want, but I trust that he will get the best deal possible for the working/middleclass/seniors. So I say again, TRUST THE PRESIDENT TO WORK FOR OUR BEST INTEREST.

  5. July 7, 2011 at 9:43 am

Everyone chill the F**K out, I’ve got this. I would leave the other word out, but I agree with everything said here so far, CHILL OUT!!!! Let’s see what the President have to say.

    • July 7, 2011 at 10:01 am

Blue, I really agree with you, because if all had gotten out to vote in 2010, if the Independents hadn’t decided to jump ship and go Republicans, President Obama wouldn’t have to be dealing with those Tea Baggers Republicans, the debt ceiling would be raised, and he could be dealing with jobs, jobs, jobs. No things hadn’t turn around fast enough, no he didn’t do what he said he was going to do. I thought he was going to change things. I ain’t seen no change. We have to send the Dems and President a message. Well, all those who said these things, I’m going to be honest, the blame lies right with them for having those darn crazy Republicans in control of the House.

      • July 7, 2011 at 10:19 am

2010, I went out to vote and I voted Democratic, because I knew that the mess this country was in, things would not be turn around overnight. President Obama couldn’t just wave a magic wand and puff, everything would be wonderful. But thanks to certain people who all they did was complain and complain about what this President haven’t done. Well thanks to them, we got John Boehner as the new Speaker of the House. We got a Republican Party taken over by those crazy ass tea baggers.

  6. July 7, 2011 at 9:43 am

When I heard the President speak about the debt ceiling, before the press conference, he sounded strong, sure and I could tell he had a plan. I had such a clear feeling that he was in charge and it was going to be ok. As always, he’s allowing people to speak their piece and play out their game plan, all the while with his goals in mind and guiding everyone toward them. Pragmatic and progressive. He’s the man who gets sh*t done.

Great choice for your post, Chipsticks! I’m with you all the way, President Obama.

    Morning Chips,

I’m making a big bowl of popcorn for the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing on the impact of a default on the United States economy today at noon. I am thrilled that Bruce Bartlett, Columnist, Former Advisor to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush will be on the panel. He was on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell last week talking about the 14th Amendment and he was very impressive.

I love the fact that the Grover Norquist insistence that the GOP pledge “no taxes under any circumstances for the rich” has become an albatross. That rigid “no taxes” mantra just doesn’t make sense anymore. The 8 years of the Bush administration is testament to that. They have painted themselves into a corner with this outdated ideology. Every day, President Obama continues to look like the only adult in the room while the Republicans look like teeny, tiny petulant children.

JER, thank you so much for this clip of Van Jones. The brother is amazing. In less than one minute he totally discredits Grover Norquist and the no taxes pledge. I love the framing that it is a moral issue. This is the kind of video that needs to go viral. I wonder if What Is Working is aware of this video.

I pray that GOD guides the President today because the Left expects him to do all the damn fighting for them and the Right is out to get him.I pray the Holy Spirit makes him find the way to help the American people even those who absolutely hate him because as much as they are in denial the President is here to help and they too will benefit from it if things go well .I pray he wins that battle with the Right as they’ve put Party First ahead of John McCain’s lie of Country First.

  11. July 7, 2011 at 10:00 am

Like all of us, President Barack Obama is not perfect. But one thing is for sure, as we all can attest to from his actions over these 2.5 years, this man is nothing but consistent. He is one of the few politicians whose record you can look back at from 10, 15 years ago, and see that he is who he is.

How many times have we gone through one of these hissy fits? I never jump the gun until I hear what President Obama has to say. Anything else to me is just noise, and because it is just that, I don’t wast one iota of brain cell sucking up what the hair on fire peeps have to say.

Chips, Fareed Zakaria is one of the few pundits also, who has credibility when it comes to dealing with issues, not only on the domestic front, but on the world stage, as well.

This article he wrote recently speaks to us as those supporters who will not try to prejudge this president. Again, Zakaria talks about the president’s consistency.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/stop-searching-for-an-obama-doctrine/2011/07/06/gIQAQMmI1H_story.html

Have a nice day everybody. Until President Obama tells us what he’s doing, let’s go out here and spread the good news about what he continues to do to make our lives better.

Those who never supported him fully or at all are always on a hair trigger to full melt down freakout drama emo. That’s what they do and that’s what they get paid for, to stoke the anxiety and mistrust of their followers. The extreme left-wing doesn’t know to live without an eternal well of disappointment at the ready.

      • July 7, 2011 at 10:28 am

So true. That’s why to me they are just irrelevant in the greater scheme of things. For many of them, their pay check depends on selling controversy and it stinks to the high heaven. How they look themselves in the mirror is beyond me.

BTW, anyone hear more about the Murdoch scandal in the UK? This scandal begs the question if his U.S operation has done similar thing here.

    July 7, 2011 at 10:00 am

Sam Stein just posted that: I won’t post the link to that site here.

The Obama administration is pushing back against a Wednesday night report that the president is prepared to offer cuts to Social Security as part of a deal to raise the debt ceiling.

“The story overshoots the runway,” said a senior administration official. “The President said in the State of the Union that he wanted a bipartisan process to strengthen Social Security in a balanced way that preserves the promise of the program and doesn’t slash benefits.”

“While it is definitely not a driver of the deficit,” the official added, “it does need to be strengthened.”

I knew President Obama did not tell the Post that he was cutting Social Security or Medicare. I am sick of the media flashers who just want someone to read their article or watch their show by creating controversy. And as usual the PL run with their hair on fire sprewing lies without checking anything out. Stupid just stupid.

It’s unbelievable how much Pres. Obama has to deal with. It feels like nobody has his back. Bunch of cowards. I’m sick of these anonymous sources!
When I saw that last night on breaking news. I felt so bad for him as I knew he would be crucify left, right and sideways, BEFORE any facts. On cue 1-2-3…..
He’s a sellout, wimp, caver-in-chief, he’s done…..I’ve seen this so many times and I hate it. The vitriol and vicious attacks based on freaking rumors all the time.

I don’t understand these guys. They can’t criticize this president without resulting to ugly name calling. That is why I stopped watching them. And time after time, they have been wrong, yet they never come back and say that they were wrong for prejudging this man. That says a whole lot more about them than anything else.

Blowhard is way too mild to describe this guy.

      • 37 ChristiMtl
        July 7, 2011 at 10:26 am

Yea the same guy who told progressives not to vote in 2010 during one of his hissy-fit. I never forgot that.

        • July 7, 2011 at 10:33 am

Exactly. And then he had the gall to condemn PBO night after night for not going into the streets in Wisconsin. Such unmitigated gall.

This, after the president campaigned in that state warning the citizens about the dangers of turning the keys over to the Republicans.

Yeah, they wanted to teach President Obama a lesson. The joke was on them.

    • July 7, 2011 at 10:28 am

The internet is a plus, but it can be a royal pain at times. They will take something and run crazy with it, regardless if it’s the truth or not. Funny though, when they are proven wrong you don’t see these people sending apologizes all over the net.

I do need to try something here to be visible without IT having a conniption :-D As for no apologies from all the siren blowers, I think it would be helpful if, when they are proven wrong, as they inevitably will be again and again by PBO, we should tweet (if you tweet) that so-and-so sent his/her apologies to the President for misinformation. If they can’t bring themselves to do so, they need to be outed for their dereliction. Hey, fight fire with fire.

      • 48 a night owl
        July 7, 2011 at 11:29 am

People really need to decode the “everything is on the table” phrase so as not to freak out everytime they hear it.

Remember during the 2008 campaign, when everyone was worried about a war with Iran? People were asking politicians if they would be willing to use nuclear weapons in Iran. And the answer was invariably, “Everything is on the table.” Now, that doesn’t mean that Hillary Clinton or John McCain or Barack Obama seriously considered dropping nukes on Iran. It just means that, politically, ruling out certain things tends to short-circuit negotiations. It doesn’t mean that “everything” is under serious consideration, especially not the worst-case scenario.

In the present situation, Boehner is completely stupid in saying “Everything is on the table, except…” Because that is just a contradiction in terms. Either everything is on the table, and we can start negotiating, or everything is not on the table, and the negotiation is over.

    • July 7, 2011 at 10:35 am

And people think PBO is going to walk in there and let the Republicans tear down programs that benefits the American people.

      • July 7, 2011 at 10:53 am

Pbo just said that everything is on the table including declaring a national emergency. And once he does that, it gives him the authority to circumvent congress and he will be president for the next !

Actuall, that was me that said that, but it is an option!

Chipsticks, glad to know we’re all on the same wavelength–we’ve just got to Chill the F**K out :) and let our man handle things like he always does. I just posted a similar message on TOAITR, and asked that we not only stop reacting to the hysteria but that we stop supporting it as well. Here’ my response to a very enlightening comment made (below) by Betsey on TOAITR:

‘I’m all for tweeting and responding and demanding accountability, but, truly, nothing is going to make them stop except finding that people won’t play the game. Glen Beck didn’t get booted off Fox because he had a change of heart or ran out of rants. His advertisers decided he was bad marketing.”

I wholeheartedly agree with what Betsey said. We’ve got to NOT ONLY stop reacting to the hysteria of the Professional Left, we’ve got to stop supporting them altogether by clicking on their sites and making their revenue soar. Let’s just ignore them and/or give them to finger, and keep focusing our attention on reelecting President Obama and electing for him a supportive and “loyal” cast of Democratic leaders in both the House and Senate in November of 2012 to continue the job that needs to be done to help move this country forward.

    • 61 PoliticalJunkessa
      July 7, 2011 at 11:25 am

Excellent post. I’m with you. I’ve been saying for what seems like forever, that the only way these jokers are going to stop is through boycotting — refusing to view/click/listen.

I think it’s hard for people to comprehend that arguing with these talking heads or twitter-storming them doesn’t mean anything — *as long as you’re still watching*!

I have seen people watching and complaining about some of these assholes for years, for example, Pat Buchanan, but HE’S STILL ON TV. Why? Because people keep watching the shows and buying the products advertised on the show.

It’s counterproductive, but people don’t realize their power.

    • 62 lmrj
      July 7, 2011 at 11:49 am

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I worked in television for 24 years and watched that happen over and over. As soon as it’s no longer profitable for the advertiser/sponsor, a show or a person gets dropped like yesterday’s garbage. It’s all about revenue stream. A concerted effort to let advertisers know you’re boycotting a show or a person and why is what gets things done. Want results? Band together and send all comments or a petition with a lot of names directly to all of the sponsors of a show, not the person or show in question.

No blogger or pundit I’ve seen “gets” Obama better than Smartypants, who is on our blogroll at the right. For much-needed sanity and insight, I highly recommend her current entry, “My take on the ‘grand bargain’” (http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-take-on-grand-bargain.html).

Those of us who understand President Obama understand that he’s all about the big picture, the far horizon, the historical legacy. President Obama has always considered that dealing with the long-term problems currently inherent in programs like Medicare and Social Security is a “BFD” on the same historic level as passing health care reform, preventing the Great Recession II, saving the auto industry, and bringing Osama bin Ladin to justice.

The problem is not a question of what needs to be done; we know for instance that simply raising the cap on the amount of income subject to Social Security will do the trick. The problem is a political one, in that people get so hyperbolic and irrational when any kind of change is even mentioned that it is now a cliche that “Social Security is the ‘third rail’ of politics–touch it and you die.” I believe that the President’s so-called “cat food commission” was an attempt to deal with this, but it ultimately went nowhere. He now apparently sees another opening and is making a second attempt. We shall see if this time he succeeds. He may not: Republicans may yet choose to hurt the President over helping the country. But our gutsy President is going to try. And I, for one, am 100% behind him.
