but, but, but …..

Aaron Blake (Washington Post): … Obama’s team made a point to reinforce that they’ve still got the enthusiasm of the grassroots. They noted a total of more than 550,000 donors – another record for this early in a campaign – 98 percent of whom contributed $250 or less…

This is good news for Obama, who many thought might lose his grassroots support when he ran for reelection as an incumbent. His report shows that he can still tap the average American for money and suggests there’s still plenty of enthusiasm for his presidency.

More here

MSNBC: The best news for Obama: More than 550,000 donors contributed to the campaign with an average of $69 per donation, which means that Obama’s small-money army is there and can give again – and again and again. (In fact, it says that 98% of its donations were $250 or less.)

It’s just been a horrible week for the firebaggers. They once again cried chicken little over POTUS negotiating skills, and now POTUS has raised nearly $86 million. So much for the “Primary Obama!” crowd.

Always important to TALK BACK to those folks as well but with the same important elements the President has modeled and recommended: respect, empower and include, no drama, have fun and last but not least WIN.

It’s been wonderful watching their collective heads spin. A lot of PL folks on twitter were passing around peitions urging people to stick it to President Obama because he was caving in to the republicans and slashing medicare and SS. Boy did that faux campaign backfire on them. Obots fired back on twitter, urged people to gather proper info on the debt ceiling debates and urged people to donate, donate DONATE. Hahahahahahaha….. choke on that S-U-C-K-E-R-S!!!!!!!!!!

Yes the ”Primary Obama” crowd is definitely not happy this morning.

They went nuts this week….God they’re annoying.

Hey I just read that headline:

I don’t know why I laughed so hard, wow, it’s dangerous.

I’ve read that Ed Shultz is telling his viewers not to vote for Obama again. And with this amount of money raised, it pretty much eliminates the threat of a primary challenge from another Democrat. Is Ed going to push his viewers to vote for a Republican like Michele Bachmann or Mitt Romney, or is he going to push them to vote for a third party nutter like Cynthia McKinney?

I laugh at the PL tantrums, they aren’t and never will be “the base.” A base of crybabies maybe, but not Obama’s base. These PL clowns need to take a HUGE cup of STFU.

      • July 13, 2011 at 11:58 am

Doesn’t matter what Ed says this time. People are smarter and the PL is the minority. The money raised shows just how much we are not paying attention to his loud mouth. And I’m a pretty good reader of people and I watched him a little yesterday and his expression throughout the show was not the same as it has been. It was the expression of someone who knows they are being beaten. Like something is going on. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

Did he actually said that? for real?

I know that he said that the Pres. will be a one term Pres. a few weeks ago but I had no idea that he’s telling his viewers not to vote for the Pres. again!

Damn idiot…he didn’t learn his lesson in 2010?

For someone soooooooooo concerned about the 99ers and the middle class…..yea lets make it easier for the far right to control all branches of gvt.

He really sucks. He knows he doesn’t make enough money when there’s a democrat in power. They need an opposition so they can shout holy outrage. Now that the man in charge is a JUGGERNAUT, Ed and his crazy buddies invented their version of an oppostion so they can convince their anti-intellectual PL base that President Obama is the boogeyman under the bed. Unfortuntely for them, these numbers prove that their abhorrent rhetoric has not dissuaded the real base. Desperation is about to set in, in 3….2….1

Chips thats fantastic can you post according to Media Matters that News corp did not pay any taxes but had refunds but they whine about GE because the CEO supports The President. On another note I am tired of news organizations referring to the President as Mr Obama he is President Obama whether they like it or not its so disrespectful

I don’t mind Mr. Obama, it’s done after in articles or whatever they refer to him as President Obama, they then refer to him as Mr. Obama. I’ve called him Mr. Obama some times in the past, it’s not really disrespectful… what I really don’t get is why news orgs continue to call the Quitter from Wasilla “Governor,” you don’t even hear Mittens being referred to as “Governor Romney.”

    Hi All,

Greetings from sunny Trinidad & Tobago.

Well today is one of those dawns I talked about that always comes after midnight. Things were not looking so good a few days ago but look how wonderful things are today – fantastic fund raising numbers, enemy in disarray, Goliath is lying flat on his back with David’s stone in his forehead and he is not getting a hand from Cantor. In fact Cantor wishes that he will roll over so he could put a knife in his back and finish him off. Mc Connell tried to give him a slimy hand but he got so much push back that he had to walk away and leave him lying right there.

Obama’s love hug to the Speaker at the press conference on Monday is working. Cantor trying to sabotage Speaker and everybody upset with Mc Connell – chaos in the camp.

Some were asking why they were taking so long to give the fundraising numbers. Well, they are learning from their boss who is a pro – wait until it will have maximum effect. This morning was just right. Now that we have them flat on their backs, let’s put our feet on their chest and keep them there.

Every day will not be like today, but when things are bad we must remember how sweet today felt.

I have that picture on my desktop. I love it. Thanks Chips for keeping it in front of us. This is a good day. For those of you who haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend Janny Scott’s book “A Singular Woman” about the President’s mother. It is very enlightening. Pass it on. Great summer read.

      July 13, 2011 at 2:41 pm

Hey MTmarilyn, I recently finished reading Janny Scott’s book “A Singular Woman.” It took me a few days to complete reading it — which is unusual for me. I usually am able to finish a 350 to 500-page book in one or two nights. I agree that the book was a very enlightening in terms of shedding new light on the life and times of President Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Duhnam, revealing that she was much more than just his “white mother from Kansas.”

I have to admit, though, I was a little disappointed in the writing style. It know it was a biography, but it came across a little dry, a bit too journalistic, maybe even too historical, to me. I guess I was so impressed with President Obama’s own magnificient writing style in his autobiographical books “Dreams From My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope,” I might have judged Ms. Scott’s writing a bit too harshly as I was reading it. Overall though, I think Ms. Scott’s book was a good read if you want to learn some fascinating details about the President’s mother. :)

Good Morning and Afternoon to my TOD Family. First, thanks to Chipsticks for the beautiful haven. I can’t say enough because I am so grateful and I know all of our family here are also so grateful. I feel good things happening for our President and team. We will keep supporting and standing together. Oh, you are so correct MTmarilyn, the book, “A Singular Woman” by Ms. Scott is eexcellent. A great gift to give to those we are trying to bring into the conversation about getting to know our President. I have a small group of friends who are interested in getting involve with the 2012 events, and they are a part of a book club, so I am hosting a get to know Our President by discussing great books with great research on him in our “House Invites.”

HZ, good morning/afternoon to you too. Please don’t forget to include his “Dreams from my Father” book. It gives you a picture of the maturation of Barack H. Obama and is a very good read. Not boring at all. Much success in your book club. :-)

I agree GGail. “Dreams from my Father” is the book for me. I love it because it’s so unguarded and open. It reads like a novel and I found myself first liking Barack Obama and then I was a zealous supporter. I was just so impressed with this young man’s story and character and brilliance. It was fascinating to me. He obviously has had a very interesting life and his writing style is enthralling. He really has no need to be in politics at all. I also read Audacity of Hope which was well written and lays out the President’s views but was written after he entered politics and so was not the same personal revelation that the first book was.

After his Presidency ends in 2017 I will be eagerly looking forward to the next book. That should be a real treat!

I’m curious to know if Ed’s audience is shrinking. With the rise of Al Sharpton, whom I hope MSNBC is smart enough to keep, I think Ed will be down the tubes. I wrote the powers that be at MSNBC and requested they give Rev. Sharpton his own show…..replace Ed or Cenk….how great that would be!

Madam de Farge, about 90% of Democrats support Pres. Obama according to Gallop.

    http://pollingmatters.gallup.com/2011/06/little-change-in-liberal-democr

Sorry, if you are among the disgruntled “left” who got his feelings hurt because Obama didn’t sing you happy birthday or hand you a blankie for your tears, but liberal Democrats are letting the pollsters know that they support the President.

I am one of those small donors. Glad Messina made it clear that the President is not accepting donations from undisclosed PACs, unlike Romney’s campaign, which is mostly PAC funded. Huntsman, the richy rich candidate extraordinaire is self-funding half his campaign at this point. The RNC is so far behind in funding, it might not even be feasible to discuss their numbers.

My guess is that this whole debt ceiling mess and the capture of bin Laden is giving Wall St. pause about supporting Republicans. Wall St. appreciates the Republicans anti-tax fervor, but are weary of incompetence on the economy and national security. Republicans once owned these issues. Not anymore. Not since Obama became President.

We have to remember folks that while this 86mil is a tremondous figure for a quater and we have doubled the total Rethug contributions it still does not match what the Teapublicans will be getting as far as unlimited cash through any means necessary due to Citizens United.

That being said I pray that Dem and Progressive/Lib groups have been forming their own PACS and outside subgroups to raise cash for Dem campaigns. We will need it once the GOP elect their nominee. Remember the Supreme Court has created this atmosphere so it is legal. I know President Obama has made a pledge not to accept PAC and Special interest monies, but how else will we compete? These small donation figures are staggering, but will pale in comparison once Coporate America gets started with their unlimited cash cow to the Rethugs.
I know the PL is raising their own cash. Hope that doesn’t take away from potential legit doners to PBO and other Dems. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!

I am so trifling. I need to start working on my donations this week. Its up to 250 right? Ii have been taking for granted that we did this once so there is no urgency because we can do it again. But, those dogs are sharpening their teeth and ready to eat their way to White House power. Wake up Democrats! We need to do a replay! We cant sleep on this!
