o, ho-hoooooo!!! Awesome! “to the extreme” hehehehehehe. Nice job DNC, painting them with the Teahadist brush. hehehehehhe
It seems that all their ideas are harmful to our citizens who are trying to work hard and take care of their families. I really don’t know any millionaires that need more money, just working people who need good jobs.
Hahahahahahahaha. Brilliant Ad. Short, factual, and to the point. Also 100% true…….. to the extreme
I didn’t know that the BFF of Arrianna Huffington was still running.
Which one – Mankini?
I was wondering what you were talking about h2 lol….Thanks for reminding me of that pic! Now it’s stuck in my head ewwwwww.lol
shocked me too. Like when you haven’t taken out your trash in a while and become desensitized to the smell. Then you leave the apartment one day, then come back, open the door and it stinks to high heaven……… Hello Newt.
I wonder do Miss Puffington Huffington think Newt need therapy?
Anniebella, I really think that Ms. Huff Puff might need that therapy more thank anyone. What a hate of a person. Shameless people indeed.
The other day there were reports that was some report that someone formed a company, donated $1 million to Romney and then dissolved the company.
I think I read in one of the threads here or over at BWD yesterday that the money was donated by someone from the Bain Company that Romney was affiliated with before.
Anyone know if there has been any further reporting on this?
not really. you got it right. It was a former exec of Bain and the guy said he talked it over with his lawyer and his lawyer said it was legal. Nothing else has come of it.
Nice flurry of post there ChipsChica. You have been on fire tonight. Thank so much. Don’t know which I like more.
The reason GOP foments fear, racism, and works to suppress the vote is that they are extreme. Even GOP voters depend on SS, Medicare and have parents in extended care on Medicaid.
You mean aside from the fact they’ve got really nothing positive or substantive to run on…
That’s the one question my husband keeps asking me over and again. He asks if these people don’t have parents, relatives and the sort that benefits from this program. He is baffled by how stringent they are.
But for them I think it is all about the hypocrisy. Michele Bachman uses the same federal program she rails against. But I guess she can do that because she can get away with it without any serious push back from our so-called media.
Its about power in my opinion. These people are revealing their morbid insecurity. I hope none of them ever assumes the highest office.
A lot of narcissists and sociopaths dwell amongst them too Africa…
Think about it…
Cantor, Palin, Ryan, McConell, Norquist, Joe Walsh, Scarborough, Buchannan…the list is endless…
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2011/08/then-fairy-tale-of-drew-westen.html great post refuting the trash column in NYT today on how disappointing President Obama is for losing his passion.
Read the link that leads to Sprung’s own assessment. Pretty clear people have selective memory.
From that article, this guy assumes that the president is not up to the task of presidency. More than that he impugns the president’s character. The excuse that so many have made that this president should have just waved a magic wand and fix the problems facing him drives me nuts. That they would ignore not only an opposition that would stop at nothing, even destroying the country to see him fail, yet gloss over it and tells us about how he is not up to this job or it has to do with some character defect, shows them to be disingenuous and fraudulent, at best.
This statement, to my mind, is spouting Republican talking points, one that we have heard over and again. and so when we hear hit we know.
“……A second possibility is that he is simply not up to the task by virtue of his lack of experience and a character defect that might not have been so debilitating at some other time in history. Those of us who were bewitched by his eloquence on the campaign trail chose to ignore some disquieting aspects of his biography: that he had accomplished very little before he ran for president, having never run a business or a state; that he had a singularly unremarkable career as a law professor, publishing nothing in 12 years at the University of Chicago other than an autobiography; and that, before joining the United States Senate, he had voted “present” (instead of “yea” or “nay”) 130 times, sometimes dodging difficult issues. …..”
This. is. pure. garbage.

S&P Blames GOP For U.S. Credit Problem, Associated Press, Politico Cover It Up
The Standard & Poors’ rating agency decision to reduce the United States’ long term debt from AAA to AA+ was explained in a press release that specifically mentioned “the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues,” should, itself, make headlines like “Standard And Poors Blames U.S. Credit Rating Reduction On Republicans.”
But the fact is, some publications, most notable The Associated Press and Politico, are working (thus far) to cover up S&P’s finger-pointing at Republicans. Instead, they appear to be pointing their own fingers at President Obama – someone not mentioned in the Standard and Poor’s press release.
Allen’s Politico article had a lot of Republican quotes, not many Democratic quotes, and in all failed to tell the truth of Standard & Poor’s message.
And then there’s the Associated Press’ article by Martin Crutsinger. It fails to include, or mention Standard & Poors’ GOP-directed press release quotes, and wrote:
Another concern was that lawmakers and the administration might fail to make those cuts because Democrats and Republicans are divided over how to implement them. Republicans are refusing to raise taxes in any deficit-cutting deal while Democrats are fighting to protect giant entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.
Which would lead one who didn’t read the S&P press release to think that it was balanced and mentioned (“giant) entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare
,( but the press release mentioned Medicare here: “It appears that for now, new revenues have dropped down on the menu of policy options. In addition, the plan envisions only minor policy changes on Medicare and little change in other entitlements, the containment of which we and most other independent observers regard as key to long-term fiscal sustainability”)
But Standard and Poors does not attack Democrats the way Republicans are addressed.
It’s purely irresponsible for The Associated Press and Politico to fail to accurately report the contents of the Standard and Poors press release. If The Associated Press and Politico want to damage President Obama, they should just come out and say so. Heck, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that his objective was to make President Obama “A one-term President.”
Thanks, Dun. do you have a link to this story?
I love that ad! Too much fun.
Say wasn’t there a conversation here about NCLB? Or was that somewhere else? Anyway…The Obama Admin is going to let States opt out of NCLB: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/us-to-grant-waivers-for-no-child-left-behind/2011/08/05/gIQA52ra1I_story.html YAY!
You’re right, Tien…the conversation was over at TPV….:)
Boy, Chipsticks, I check in before I go to bed and what an array of threads! So much to obsorb. Thanks for the Ed clip. I refuse to watch or listen to his radio.show anymore.
Today I was having a disscussion with a friend today. I was shocked when she said what we need is a real leader. It wasn’t the time to talk more but believe me I will bring it up again. She was a Hillary supporter.
Good night all.
you should ask her what she thinks Hillary would have done better. I’m sure even SS Clinton would admit that these are difficult times that require the courage to lead through compromise rather than drawing invisible lines in the sand and ducking for cover. I didn’t vote for a showboat know-nothing, do-nothing. I voted for a man of action and common sense and love of country. Perhaps you could remind your friend of just who PBO is………. I know exactly how you feel mt. When I went home for a quick visit last week, my mom said almost the same thing, except her stance was: “for me, he compromises too much……… he needs to save some things for the democrats-his own party.” Uh….. what do you think saving Medicare, Medicade and Social Security is about? What do you think health Insurance which allows me to stay on your plan is about? What do you think the Auto Industry, Fuel Efficiency Standards, DOMA, DADT and all the other long lists of accomplishments this president has advanced is about?—— The only thing she could complain about was the Bush tax cut and then she corrected herself by saying: “oh yeah, he got unemployment insurance instead.” —It’s like they don’t think. They only see the flashing lights and they don’t look beyond it. When did politics become tabloid trash, where the media is only interested in taking people down and exposing them and when did citizens become that bored customer in line who reads the front of those rag magazines as they are waiting to ring up their purchases. This is a sad state of affairs in our modern history. The death of truth in journalism and the continued stupidification(made up word) of our citizenry. I could almost blame the repugs for this. Isn’t their motto: ‘the stupider you are, the easier you are to manipulate’ as evidenced by the Teaheads? This has taken quite some time to do: divorcing the American people from it’s government through outright lies and innuendo. It’s gotten so bad that smart, educated people have become dumbed down when it comes to politics. The GOP no longer relies on true adherence to Republican principles that will get people out to vote for them, so they started to blatantly cheat, attempting to stymie or hobble the competition prior to the race. The GOP, our very own Tanya Harding. The fact that their attack is so blatant, with a thin vail of false pretense: voter fraud……..really?—is patently disgusting but unsurprising when we realize with whom we are dealing. I know some here asked that we tone down the vitriol when it comes to discussing these people (and yes I can choose to not post all the bad things I hope happen to the repugs , tepugs and loony left and I’ve chosen to acquiesce on that front), but we should never get hateful, unfounded speech confused with truth telling. If we call these people hostages, it’s not that we are bad mouthing them, it’s because it’s the truth. If we call them greedy and lacking common human decency, it’s the truth. It may not have been the truth of your grandfather’s republican party, but unfortunately, those days are over. What we have here, is a failure to care on the part of the republicans. They don’t care that they shot the hostage after they got their money, just because they want to get at PBO. That kind of absolute hate does not deserve respect. It’s sick. We should call it out any day, anywhere, anytime, and anyway we can, because if we don’t, it starts to seep into everyday people’s conversations. And people like my mother who yelled at me early on in the campaign when most people didn’t know exactly who Barack Obama was- but on whom she had had her eyes- to do my civic duty, pay attention and vote Barack, to then turn around and say or imply, that he is weak and won’t win the next election. That should not and will not stand. The only thing the repugs can do, and do well, is lie. Every time they do it, I will call them out and say that they are liars, they are thieves, they don’t love or believe in this country or its people. If that is vitriol, then I will own it because to me, it’s the truth. So, repugs can go fuck themselves, I’m no $2 whore that can be easily rolled. And I refuse to allow them the opportunity to screw over my fellow Americans.
ps- as you can see, I had time last night to sleep on yesterdays discussion and what I found was, I’m not going to pretty up the truth for anyone.
Thank you Lisa.
I Just heard the tea party dummies in Wisconsin cheer, because some people are callling the S&P decision, the “tea party downgrade”!
Oh yeah, tea party m*****f******s!!!!!
Whatever money I can spare usually goes to Obama’s reelection, but boy that ad makes me wanna fish out few more dollars to the DNC. Their ads used to piss me off because it seemed like they would miss all the hot points, but now….wow.
