Completely random pic (June 25, 2009) – and why not?
Catch you all later today, have a great Sunday
Good morning Chipsticks.
I love it when you do the random pic.
That has to be one of the finest, sexiest random pics of PBO ever!
The essence of cool.
Nice to be back from two weeks of vacation; couldn’t get to a computer, so missed all the final debt ceiling stuff, but am glad to be back and in the swing of things. Glad you’re still here Chipsticks; hope BWD is doing ok. I really miss her already and only just found out she’s taken a hiatus.
swoon I love those shades. follow me on twitter @allesiaD……the shades are featured!
I have a photo of President Obama stepping out of the Beast with his shades on. In Phila, we made campaign buttons from that shot.
BTW, I love, love, LURVE that he never tacks his ties.
I just love to see them fly up, Dilbert-style. I just reminds me that he is the coolest, nerdiest, sexiest, smartest, FINEST president we have EVER had!!!
plus most compassionate, most caring, loving family man and a leader other countries can only dream of.
Hi isonprize and obamalia, sooooooooooooo true. I love and respect our hard working President Barack Obama and looking fine as can be while he is doing his job.
i see you are a Phila native…so am i…….Wanting to do something around Toomey…have any ideas
can’t.say.them.out.loud.don’t.want.to.go.to.jail. 8) 8) Seriously, we can certainly keep jamming his phone lines. And make sure Tumor is a one term senator… Hopefully Sestak will be up for another run in 2016!!
Man…he is just ridiculously attractive. Sigh…
morning TOD family and Chips
boy what I’d give to see him wear RayBan
Right behind you Fred. A pair of seriously lethal Ray Bans on President Obama….. Holy Cow…. would have women and men swooning left, right, and enter.
He could wear Aviators. But I’d really really like to see him in some wayfarer shades. Those are muy caliente!
ps: Wayfarers are a style of sunglasses.
Where is science when we need it. What I would give to have him cloned so others, me first, could have him. He is the epitome of what I want in a man (and President, of course).
Fred and UT, I think Vice President Biden has the lock on aviator sunglasses. He is too cool for school when he wears them.
I think these are just right for Pres. Obama. President Barack Obama wearing Ray-Ban 3217 sunglasses
Aren’t Ray Bans French? Too much potential for coded-message mischief with those!
Pres. Obama already wears Ray-Bans. I searched the interwebs.
Luxottica, the parent company of Ray Ban, is an Italian company, headquarted in Milan. I would be more than happy to research other styles and colors of eyewear for President Obama!!
I love you guys…y’all ain’t no joke.
Wow, that is one amazingly fine completely random pic! Love it!
Do you think he ever gets used to seeing the SSrv guys around all the time, like in the trees here?
Sure is a fine pic tho.
Have to mention that freaky, horrible accident at the In. State fair last night where 14,000 had gathered for a Sugarland concert. A sudden storm with high winds blew the grandstand stage over on top of the crowd. Four were killed, more deaths likely according to In. State Police, many injured, some in critical condition. You just never know, do you?—-a summer Sat. night at the fair, how much more innocent?– 30 minutes earlier the warm-up act commented on the “beautiful night”. And then catastrophe.
My Indy daughter and husband were just at the fair the other night, had gone to mostly see the animals. Daughter was sad that it was past the baby piggies bed time by the time they got there but she did get to see some cows being shampooed and blown dry, and they looked “so cute!” my daughter said.
My sympathy to all the families affected and healing thoughts to those injured.
Thanks for mentioning the Indiana State Fair and the tragedy that occurred dotster. I just heard about it on the news and my prayers also go out to the families of the lost ones and I hope that the injured recover in a safe and healthy manner and everyone who witnessed that tragedy find some comfort and healing. Amen.
So sorry to hear about that dotster. I hope the people will be okay, and I pray for the family who lost loved ones.
So fine and cool, umm, umm, umm !
As for the SS, he had a team long before the usual time in the early days of the campaign ( I believe Dick Durbin put in the request) because of all of the threats he received. He and Miche have a great relationship and great respect for their details; they follow the rules because they do not want to make the agents’ work more difficult. One Valentine’s Day during the campaign, Michelle and the girls made cards for the agents and their families. I have also been told by a friend who has a relative who is an agent, that the SS really cares for the Obamas, that the assignment is more than a job. So I believe that he is comfortable enough to take their presence for granted. There was a cute story about Malia several years ago about being embarrassed to have an agent in school; she asked him or her stand behind the classroom door.
Yes, Durbin initiated that action—–he grew to really love Obama as they travelled Illinois together, very protective of him, and became very concerned for his safety after Sarah Palin unleashed the racists and Obama began receiving death threats.
I remember reading that Sasha called them ‘the secret people’ How cute is that?
Morning TOD family. Don’t see how anyone would want to trade this cool, fine swagga for Texas BS. Like Ceb said: umm, umm, umm.
Nobody here! He is the definition of awesome. I am grateful for our SS – and prayer for their safety as well.
WTF…before coffee. Sorry for the incoherence.
President Obama is so beautifully and humbly self-possessed. He is the definition of awesome.
I am grateful for the services of his security detail, and pray for their strength and safety.
Heads up guys: BREAKING NEWS: From the AP, Nora O’Donnell, CBS, NBC News. “Tim Pawlenty is officially DROPPING OUT of the GOP Presidential race after coming in 3rd. Another one bites the dust!
One down, many more to go. Bye bye TPaw. You tried to put on your ugliest, most hateful face, but it wasn’t quite crazy enough for your fellow Teapublicans.
oh-ooooooh!!! Poor Lawry! Wasn’t T- Paw the only guy in his estimation who could possibly get the nomination bc he was the only one without the baggage?……………… I guess baggage counts.
Hmmm… What would this mean for the others’ chances, do you think? Would This mean that it’s more likely to be Romney?
Oh, and it’s time to add another X to the lovely group pic.
I’m heartbroken about Pawlenty. NOT!!!!!!!!!
Good, he was a lousy Governor, and is not qualified to be our President. Go away Tim!
I concur with you Sue in Minnesota – I live in MN as well and Tim Pawlenty has done no favors for our state – we’re a mess right now thanks in no small part to his mismanagement.
Hi neighbor…..glad we concur.
I will never forget when I heard the bridge collapsed, and the world around me seemed as if it had stopped…it was so surreal.
He is friend only to the rich and richer, and never had any trouble bending over backwards for them. And his charisma factor is, well, zero…he has absolutely none.
What? You mean no more Tim Polenta jokes?
It’s on twitter that Tim Pawlenty, Mr. 2% will quit the race today. So who’s next?
UT, you beat me to it. Didn’t Lawrence O’Donnell predict Tim would be the nominee?
Good….LO’D is a know it all blowhard.
Another One bites the dust….
where is the next primary…
Yeah he did. He kept crowing that he’s (Lawrence) worked in congress before, he knows how government works and how Presidential races go. Tim pawlenty would sweep the GOP field clear. He would be the nominee and would be a very strong candidate. Blah blah blah blah. Lawrence O’Donnell really really called this one wrong. BIG TIME. A lot of people on twitter are reminding him of it now. He has sooooo much egg on his face now.
mercy…he and his predicitions..::-):
In listening to Lawrence O’Donnell from time to time I had thought he was once a Senator that worked on the Finance Committee, then I read somewhere on the blog once that he worked for a Senator that was on the Finance Committee. Which one was it? If he only worked for a Senator he certainly is blowing his importance out of perspective.
He was a legislative aide to Sen. Moynihan (’89-’95) and staff director for the Senate Finance Committee (for a couple of years). He usually says stuff like, “When I worked at the Senate … ” to do exactly as you suggest: blow up his own importance. He’s also been a writer and actor. He sometimes says he’s a “practical European socialist.”
He’s hard at work, currently, getting on my nerves.
Chips – need another blog post of the muppets with one crossed out! T-Paw is out!
Bachmann’s new campaign poster just released.
That was hilarious. I’m still ROFL !!
That is her one claim to fame, introducing the Lightbulb Freedom of Choice Act, or something, which failed. Quite the legislative record! Impressive!
Linda, I thought it was the picture of the nutty lady biting down on that sausage dog. She sure will get some votes from the porn lovers with that picture.
I almost spit out my coffee – funny!
Being stupid enough to get photographed eating that dog should be enough to disqualify her for being dogcatcher, much less president.
There is one of Marcus eating it too…
I don’t know what to say about that man. So I won’t say what I am really thinking. But those two Bachmanns deserve each other.
Yes, when the photos are so bad, one can’t even comment on them …
If it weren’t these hateful people involved, I’d almost feel sorry that their public relations people weren’t smart enough to warn them of photos like this. Amazing.
She’d better not be even close to winning the R nomination, because I just can’t stand putting our entire country in such a stupid light … again … after Bush. That goes for Perry, too, and so many others. Where do they get these people?
He is so dainty, first thing I noticed, his pinky was up. This is not fact, but my gaydar says gay. Come on Marcus, show some courage, embrace and celebrate your true self…..you know God does not make junk.
Imagine living life behind an enormous lie….I can’t.
You got me! LOL I heard her speaking on NPR this morning about how many Dems and Indies had come up to her and said they had voted for PBO last time and would vote for her now. That was downright creepy to think people would vote for her over PBO and turned my day into a downer. Of course I figure she might have just made that up.
I was surprised Tim Pawlenty dropped out so quickly since he did get third in the poll and Bachmann was born in Iowa and Ron Paul has quite a few supporters. I wonder if in bad times people are more willing to let go of their senses and vote for the “Queen of Rage”. I think I’d rather have Bachmann running than Perry though as his state has had lots of job creation and that might get folks to overlook his crazyness. The only thing they may not overlook is his views on Social Security and Medicare although when running he may flip flop on them.
Dems and Indies voting for Bachmann? Well…………the nation is turning upside down. Anything can happen in this election it appears.
The job thing is a sham from everything I’ve read. Tx. is #1 in minimum wage jobs, free rein to corps. to pollute to their hearts’ content—biggest polluter in the country– hire newly arrived immigrants at likely less than minimum wage, jobs said to not be going to native Texans who were born, raised and educated there, many farm jobs. And much of work force in Texas is in oil industry and defense, which rolls on no matter who is gov. Tx. lost 352,500 non farm jobs since 2008. And the stats that everyone posted last night, comparing Tx. with other 50 states, are deplorable—–last in h.s. grads, last in percentage of pop. w/health care, one in 4 kids live in poverty etc. etc.
I heard her speaking on NPR this morning about how many Dems and Indies had come up to her and said they had voted for PBO last time and would vote for her now.
I would not put too much stock into what she says; Michele is not known to ouyright lie through her teeth.
That’s not to say we should sit back and not work our asses off to get Pres Obama reelected, buy my BS meter went off when reading what Michele said
Michele is known to outright lie through her teeth.Corrected.
At Michelle Bachmann’s Pic of course.
Gooooooood Morning…..TOD Fam….
coffee brewing…about to start breakfast ….i think i want some home fries…..scrapple…..and biscuits……..
next week will be a busy week for the President…
but i want to repost something i said in an earlier stream…..
how do you get those stalled bills pass an almost intractible force in the House…these bills are not only good for the President ..they are good for country….very necessary for the country in order to reduce the unemplyment situation…and as the President to grow America..
In addition….there is the Super Committtee…Toomey of Pa is on the committee…he was elected with a strong TP push…how do we here in PA….impact on him…..
Well we can help by pounding them with pressure to get them signed. Call/e-mail/write/tweet and enlist others to join in that effort. Our laundry list of work they need to attend to is quite long and growing. At least they should be made to feel the pressure, take the heat.
Hey Peeps I hope you do not mind sharing with you to ease your mind
check this out.
That was fantastic. Boy , do I love to watch Pres Obama walk. So coooooooooooool.
Me and you both
Thanks for the video professorx10. Boy do I love that swagger. So freaking cooooooooooooooooooool.
I am stuck on his swagger forever, lol
Kind of reminds me of Denzel. So damn cool. Um um um !!
I need a dose of this everyday, like good medicine, or a daily meditation..good for your health and your outlook.
Watching this I could feel my whole being, lightening and being lifted up. He goes straight to my heart and soul, and I feel like singing.
“Mornin Mr. Radio. mornin little cheerio, wake up sister oriole..did I tell you everything is fine, Where?…in my mind.” – Al Jarreau
Loved it! Very well done; loved the music. Seems like long ago, and just like yesterday.
I have picture galore of Pres Obama and I dream his swagger, sigh.
Thank you, I knew coming here this morning would cheer me up after hearing Bachmann talk about how many Dems and Indies told her they voted for PBO last time but would be voting for her this time. That video was just what I needed.
I know what you mean Obama-Grandmama.
People are tripping and not thinking. That is how we got in this mess. The absents of thought.
Don’t forget when Bachmann talks the truth is usually mangled.
No Dems are voting for Bachmann. That’s a lie. No one who voted for Obama could possibly ever vote for Bachmann. That’s going from one extreme to the other. Well, maybe one, someone who’s had a boulder dropped on his head.
Look at this yahoo Perry stealing a phrase from Ted Kennedy’s 2008 DNC speech. He’s been stealing from Pres O too.
Mr. Perry is a freaking thief and a liar, that is what he does.
When VP Biden used a phrase without attributing it to the proper owner of the phrase, the GOP and the MSM (pretty much one and the same) yelled plagiarism. Yet when Perry steals Senator Ted Kennedy’s phrase, they call him a brilliant wordsmith. I hope up in heaven Ted stretches his leg out and gives Perry a swift but painful kick to the nuts.
“I hope up in heaven Ted stretches his leg out and gives Perry a swift but painful kick to the nuts.”——– hahahahahahahahahahahaha UT, from your lips to Ted’s ears
That would be a sight to see lol
Fellow Texan, Paul Begala, shared an interesting tidbit about Perry on The Daily Beast today——that Perry wears his jeans so tight that he is constantly adjusting himself and so has the nickname “Crotch”. Also warned that this not very bright politician will do and say anything to win, nothing is too low or beyond limits. Gonna get real ugly.
It’s quite apparent that this is a dumb, willfully ignorant man. Another candidacy-by-the-numbers idiot.
I watched his speech yesterday- he really is a skank and indeed not bright.. in one sentence he attacked and complained that “half of the country doesn’t even pay taxes” (lie) and then he said.. the govt needs to be subject to the people and not the people subject to the govt. So which is it- we should all pay taxes .. or we shouldn’t? Methinks he’s quite stupid. Has no plan other than to dismantle govt as we know it now.. and then really show Americans how bad govt can be- how far it can go to invade your life.
On the other hand, I see by the Msn headlines on my computer this morning that David Gregory is busy pushing Michele Bachmann on us today- “Bachmann fits the mood of the country”. Yeah okay- lemme know when there are MILLIONS of people voting for her… and not 4000 from a state fair.
What these GOP candidates will do is LIE LIE LIE- and get applause and media support while doing it. Every word I heard from these CLOWNS yesterday was BS- not a fact among them- and though I’m mostly laughing right now at their antics- I can see the election is going to be low and filthy and POTUS will need us to be kicking a lot of lying hiney… because the media will never tell the truth when the ‘nominee’ gets going on their attacks.
I think the nominee is going to be either Romney, Bachmann or Perry. I doubt Paul, he hasn’t been able to win before. They’re pushing Bachmann right now- but the GOP will never choose a woman to lead. The media seems to be gaga for another Texas Governor- God they are so whipped.. they fell all over themselves for Reagan too.
Anyway, a bit long winded today, Happy Sunday TOD family~ enjoy
“in one sentence he attacked and complained that “half of the country doesn’t even pay taxes” (lie) and then he said..”
Mitt Romney said the same line in that video that’s been circulating where he gets into a debate with constituents during a recent campaign stop.
Wowzers, LOVE the random photo!!
Here’s another good link, peeps!!
Holy cow Meta, that’s great. The GOP’s words will come back to bite them on their evil —!
That link didn’t work for me,meta..
Hmmm, not sure why. It’s a good link.
I’ll try again..not to worry:) Probably my crusty old laptop…
oh this is interesting I love stuff like this – i’ll send to my friends Thanks Meta!
wow… Our political marketing team is SOO damn good. I was surprised that they didn’t include in the cloud, Barack Obama. I’m sure they mentioned him, right?
I do not like the term Obamacare, mostly because the Republicans use it with derision and animosity. I think we should start calling it OBamneycare, so people are reminded of Romney’s role in the original plan it was modeled from.
I like that idea. I was mad when I read a typical AP story yesterday re. Obama’s bus tour this week which was full of Repub talking points and used the word “Obamacare”. The whole thing was dishonest and highly partisan, slanted right.
I call it Obama Cares. Because he does. It is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact it should be embraced.
I like that …..empasis on the positive, which it is.
CHIPSTICKS, TIME TO UPDATE THE MUPPET CHART!!!
BYE BYE BLAHLENTY!
Good morning! To wake up to that amazing photo was delicious:) He’s truly a GQ kinda guy…the best part is, it just comes naturally….oozes from his very being.Confident, smart, handsome. Thanks for that wakeup!
Thank you Fareed Zakaria for rightfully calling out the liberal emoprogs who are always bitching and moaning no matter what legislative accomplishments President Obama achieves. Yes, Paul Krugman I’m looking at you. Whiner in Chief. Zakaria said it best. “Obama is a logical centrist and pragmatist who knows that you never make the best the enemy of the good.” He called out liberals for never being satisfied with anything that President Obama accomplishes. He fought through a quagmire and in essence got universal healthcare yet they bitched that without a public option, the reform wasn’t transformative. He got a stimulus bill and yet they bitched that it wasn’t big enough. He repealed DADT yet they bitched that he took to long. He got financial reform yet they bitched that it was too weak. He saved the automobile industry, yet they bitched that he should have let them burn to the ground. WTF will satisfy these emoprogs? All they do is sit in their air conditioned Ivy League Ivory Towers and pen opinion pieces after opinion pieces that aren’t based in reality. How about you go to the average citizen and tell that citizen who now has healthcare and is covered despite pre-existing conditions that the reform wasn’t transformative enough. How about you tell the GM autoworker who has a job with benefits that his only source of income should have been left to burn to the ground. How about you tell the suppliers and makers of automobile parts whose businesses are floruishing that their counterparts should have been left to burn to the ground. How about you tell the teacher, the firefighter, the police officer whose jobs were saved because of the stimulus that the package wasn’t quite large enough. And on and on. All these emoprogressives do is talk and pass out unwarranted and unwanted “expert analysis.” They have no clue how the real world works.
I would love to see that utaustinliberal, Fareed Zakaria calling out the far left emoprogs as well.
utaustinliberal, I love it. It hits those Progressives right in the heart, if they have one.
Seeing what I have seen lately anniebella, I wonder about the Attitude of the PL.
Their universe is an alternate reality…..and we should remind them change happens in the real world. Where they end and where the extremists on the right begin is hard to delineate, at least for me. Talk is cheap, and they are really good at that.
Thanks UT, I didn’t watch it because I saw that Krugman would be on. I can’t stand him.
Good on Fareed Zakaria for calling them out.
They live in fantasy land, the insane opposition doesn’t exist, same for the blue dogs.
They are as extremist as the far-right. They view compromises as treason and think that the President could have signed executive orders left right and sideways on everything.
Fareed’s words to the PL almost make up for his having Arianna Huffington on last week. Almost.
good grief how much of an asshole can Jake Tapper be?
GOP hopeful Mitt Romney revives the question: Does First Dog Bo have his meals prepared by the White House chefs?
During the GOP presidential candidates’ debate on Thursday in Ames, Iowa, frontrunner Mitt Romney called President Obama’s economic policy “dog food.” It’s one of today’s big sound bites from the event, and has also led to a flurry of e-mails to Obama Foodorama, asking what the First Family’s dog, Bo, actually eats. (Above: The President and Bo in the Rose Garden)
“Look, I’m not going to eat Barack Obama’s dog food, all right?” Romney declared when asked about the debt ceiling legislation. “What he served up was not what I would have done if I’d had been president of the United States.”
The President didn’t watch the debate, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters today, so let’s move on to the subject of what Barack Obama’s dog food *really* is. I am routinely asked about Bo’s eating habits, and have thus queried White House staff on the topic. The answer is simple.
Bo, who is almost three years old, is a Portuguese Water Dog. He eats “like any other dog in America,” a White House aide told me. “Store-bought dog food.”
The aide wouldn’t say whether Bo eats dry kibble or canned food, however, and declined to name a specific brand. State Secrets, you know.
there is the gem
And no, the aide said, the White House chefs do NOT cook for the First Dog, which has been the subject of frequent, if silly, Bo speculation. So prevalent is this notion that ABC reporter Jake Tapper joked about it on Twitter from the GOP debate, after Romney made his comment.
“i dont want to nitpick, but with Sam Kass in the White House kitchen, i bet Barack Obama’s dogfood is pretty good,” Tapper wrote (sic).
Tapper is a sick individual, he should be committed in longview.
Tapper fails at being a comedian, just like he felts at being a journalists. Here’s a job he will be good at, cleaning up after Bo.
professorx10, with that job he can tell what Bo eats since it concerns him so much.
LOL anniebella, he got his nose so far up BO’s —–! ROFLMBO.
There’s something seriously infantile about the media. I love the First Family and think that Bo is adorable but I seriously don’t care where his food comes from.
LOL…..I don’t think Bo cares either
i think these lil ditties are attempts to create sound bites.. to cause confusion… to trivialize this President and what he has accomplished….
Tapper is like an untrained puppy, always nipping at the President’s ankles
Once again he exposes his own arressted development. It is remarkable that he gets paid for such childish, silly and pointless drivel. Don’t bother looking at Tapper for substance, deep or critical thinking, he is to busy with his temper tantrums and his sandbox battles.
Tapper can be a pain but I’ll give him a pass on this one. It was more a compliment to Sam Kass than anything else. At least that’s how I took it.
There isn’t to much about Tapper that I like. I just don’t like the guy.
You know I would have thought that Romney would have not gone the dog food route as to me that only brings to mind his dog in a dog carrier on top of his car during a drive to his vacation. Maybe the strategy is to wear out the dog vocabulary by using it on the opposition but for me nothing he could say can wipe out his dog on his car’s rooftop.
Something’s missing with Romney, as with most Repubs. Lacks empathy, compassion. That was an inhumane act, putting his dog on the roof for a 12 hour drive and then laughing about the sick consequences. And this was their family pet, poor thing.
Which GOPer was it in 2008, the RNC Chair I believe, who described the whole GOP brand as “dog food” and said that it was so bad they would be taking it off the shelves. Well, its still bad, still isn’t going to sell, and just because you have some Tea Party yahoos who you’ve persuaded to eat it and call it Spam doesn’t mean the rest of us will. Sound bites are not enough, GOP. People are hurting and we already know the racists were going to vote for you, what else have you got?
michelle and the kids are bless to have such a fine and caring men in their life and barack is bless to have such wonderful and caring women in his life. Obama is so fine he’s blows my mine, I never in all my life seem such a good looking and hot body president, God help my mind to stay in the right place.
dun, your mind will stay in the right place because of your respect for Michelle, his wife.
Good morning TOD’ers. HOPE you have a terrific Sunday.
Please join me in lighting a candle for our President, First Family and the Nation.
Lit. So far 29, 2 countries. Come on people. Let’s create a bonfire of candles and sentiment for continued successes.
Thanks for the candle link. Let’s create a wave of positive prayer and energy to carry the President to victory.
Nice Jackie – love that site – always feel more peaceful. thanks.
Thanks J4O. My candle is lit.
j4o, it’s “forever” lit!
Done. Our President has the hopes and dreams of a nation in his capable hands. What a great leader.
Hi everyone. lovepolitics2008 here.
I just read something that made my heart sank. it’s man article on Steeve Benen’s blog (see the blogroll because I can’t find the way to post the link from my Ipad here). The article is titled “Perry Pushes for Higher Taxes”. Quote from Perry: “We’re dismayed at the injustice that nearly half of all Americans don’t pay any income tax. And you know the liberals out there are saying that we need to pay more”.
God. Just look at his use of the word “we”.
Folks, brace yourselves for the ugliest electoral campaign you’ll see in your lifetime, because Perry has very strong chances to get the GOP nomination. Remember “Hope over Fear” ? It will still be, but mostly I’ m thinking of “Love over hate”, “Light over darkness”. I’m afraid it will be that bad. My hope is that the Gop will go SO far into the darkness, the hate and the division, that it will shake Americans to their core and they’ll wake up and find in themselves the courage to follow the leader who appeals to the better angels of their nature.
“My hope is that the Gop will go SO far into the darkness, the hate and the division, that it will shake Americans to their core and they’ll wake up and find in themselves the courage to follow the leader who appeals to the better angels of their nature.”
That is a REAL possibility. I am not driven at this time to worry. There’s a lot to do and ample time to get it done. Chin up everybody.
Perry pushes for higher taxes
When Texas Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his Republican presidential campaign yesterday, his speech buried the needle on the Cliche-O-Meter, offering up one generic, predictable GOP theme after another. There was, however, one line in particular that stood out as interesting.
“We’re dismayed at the injustice that nearly half of all Americans don’t even pay any income tax. And you know the liberals out there are saying that we need to pay more.”
In this context, “we” refers to Perry and everyone who shares his worldview.
The oddity, of course, is that the governor seems to be arguing that Americans don’t pay enough in income taxes. Or more accurately, it’s unjust that more Americans aren’t paying income taxes.
This is an increasingly popular argument in right-wing circles — Michele Bachmann, one of Perry’s presidential rivals, has pushed the same line — thought it’s entirely counter-intuitive. The argument isn’t even subtle: far-right Republicans are annoyed that most Americans don’t make enough money to be eligible to pay income taxes, so they believe it’s important to get more of these lower- and middle-income Americans paying more to the government.
In case anyone’s forgotten, the relevant details matters here: millions of Americans may be exempt from income taxes, but they still pay sales taxes, state taxes, local taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare/Medicaid taxes, and in many instances, property taxes.
It’s not as if these folks are getting away with something — the existing tax structure leaves them out of the income tax system because they don’t make enough money to qualify.
Perry considers this an “injustice,” one which he apparently intends to fix, and which he feels strongly enough about to include in his closely-watched kick-off speech.
This should make for quite a 2012 debate, shouldn’t it? Some of the most far-right candidates wants Americans with less to pay more in taxes. Seriously.
Ha, Pawlenty is out. So much for being the tough guy fighter. He loses a nothing straw poll and gives up. More likely his donors bailed (the ones he did have) – so it left him no choice. And he really doesn’t have any juice for a possible VP run, he offers nothing that the eventual nominee couldn’t get better from elsewhere. I wonder if his staffers were jumping to different campaigns – to Bachmann or Perry who both got in after Timmy.
Yummy pic! I miss seeing Michelle . Hope she’s having a relaxing time and recharging with the girls, Mrs. Robinson, and friends…
See ya, T-Paw, you bland, limp loser, you. Lawrence should be a hoot tomorrow evening, LOL!
Have a great day, everyone !
I miss seeing FLOTUS too.
Good Morning TOD’ers. What a nice way to greet this Sunday morning. The swag meter in this picture is off the chart. That is one fine looking man.
Our “We Want To Work Campaign” is growing by leaps and bounds. Facebook in less than 24 hours has over 180 people signed up and OFA has 15. That’s almost 200 people ready willing and able to “make some noise for jobs”.
Here are the links if you still need to join:
and if you are not on Facebook…
Have a great Sunday Everyone!!!
A good start, Donna. Way to go! Sending virtual encouragement your way.
Bachmann Refuses To Say What Spending She Would Cut If Her Plan To Not Raise The Debt Ceiling Were Followed
My Take: I could have become Michele Bachmann
Wow – Alisa Harris @ the second link is another Frank Schaeffer. Thanks for sharing that.
Good Sunday TOD family. Thanks Fred for those articles. I found the essay by Ms Harris to be quite scary if that is what drives Bachmann.
Refusing to answer questions, to debate, to speak openly to all media sources….in all their manners of avoidance Republicans keep pushing the limits of what they can get away with..I say UNACCEPTABLE, and question why Americans so freely let them hide behind their curtains of deceit.
Morning TOD. I have a twitter account – it is a4alice. I’m following some of you from the list way back in June. I’ll see how this looks on my twitter page and catch up the rest later. Now I can be part of the twitter brigade – yippee!
I’m back sorry had to step out a bit. Doing work at the same time being here.
Man U guys rock. I am soooo glad you are keeping this site running. I pray for BWD to refresh and come back to us as well.
It takes a lot of work to maintain sites and keep the truth flowing.
Kudos to you all and a big shout out.
Welcome back prof, and yes we are very grateful to Chips and BWD for the extraordinary work that they do in maintaining these sites.
sup. I am all over today but it’s a beautiful day in the hood
My son just gave us a slogan of the Perry campaign.
” Pick Rick” or for short P-Rick!
That’s the “cleanest” one I’ve heard yet. Hysterical!
For those of you who get upset constantly by the MSM, let me tell you my weekend experience: Our son and family visited us this weekend, and we didn’t watch any news last night…either 5:00 or 10:00…my husband didn’t turn on the talking head shows this morning…..What a beautiful day!!! Those men and women just live to hype and upset. When you feel yourself getting too upset….take a good break from it. The world will go on just fine, and this page will giver you the true news. Then when you’ve rested, you can go back to it.
I keep thinking about this time in 2007……Romney and Clinton were considered the nominees. The Democratic field was huge, the debates were well watched, and every pundit alive “knew” exactly what was going to happen. NOT! Big Fail! In spite of all their hype and talking, it IS the people who will determine the nominee of the Republican party. There is a long way to go, and a lot of dirty laundry will be hung out on the line. Remember how the MSM got all excited over Fred Thompson…..the “new Reagan” I’m going to cool it, go to my Republican Congressman’s town meetings, let him know how we feel, and take care of my family. If we would check out the results records of the self-deterined prophets, we would see truly shabby results. They are wrong more times than they are right. I think when the Texas Democrats get through with Perry, he will curl up and blow away. Okay…there’s my prophecy….you can hold me accountable down the line/smile/
Yep — that’s been my constant drumbeat: Turn ‘Em Off! However, that’s just my personality. I don’t like to let the crap in — I have too much to do, and the world begins to take on a dark appearance if I focus too much on the evil, the petty, the ignorant, the stupid. It steals minutes, hours, days, months and years away from me that I could be putting to better use.
Nice words, Carolyn, .
I’ve joined this club as well. I believe what you focus on expands. I try to stand on middle ground, knowing what is behind me (negative)
and what possibilities lie ahead(positive). I would whither if I didn’t keep hope alive in my life.
I’ve been doing that for quite some time and let me tell it makes a world of difference in your life.
If I by chance I choose to watch a program, I will turn no sooner than the whinning start.
I’m with you I refuse to allow the negativity to enter my world.
Another member of the club aa well. If it is earth shaking, I’ll learn about it on our blogs and take action if warranted.
I haven’t watched since the inauguration because I knew what was coming. I remember vividly how the media and the Republicans went after Clinton EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Everyday, Clinton’s enemies, would poke and find any weakness in Clinton’s facade. His infidelities gave the Republicans the foothold they needed.
Obama is proving to be a different foe with no apparent character weaknesses (he’d never step out on Michelle and the girlies). So, they’re trying to use his strengths against him.
Well, obviously I forgot how to do they smiley face…..I’ll look that up.
Another Perry slogan I’ve read: “Read my lips: No NEW Texams!”
colon capital D, no space between
Michele Bachmann’s Ames Tent Revival
Yikes is right. I just ruined about 10 minutes of a perfectly good Sunday reading several articles on Mother Jones about Michele Bachmann’s anti-everything views.
Forewarned is forearmed, but that’s quite enough for me, for one day.
From a recent Quinnipiac poll:
Florida-before and after the debt ceiling deal. Didn’t the media tell us he was losing in Florida ????
49% Obama (D), 36% Perry (R)
50% Obama (D), 36% Bachmann (R)
46% Obama (D), 41% Romney (R)
54% Obama (D), 33% Palin (R)
44% Obama (D), 39% Perry (R)
50% Obama (D), 38% Bachmann (R)
44% Obama (D), 44% Romney (R)
53% Obama (D), 34% Palin (R)
He’s Barack Obama…..
ROFLMBO! I remember that, that is too funny. love it.
I so love this, and I think he is the closet thing to Superman on this planet.
“Snap your fingers, fix the U.S.A.” LOL How many expect him to do just that?!
Caroline–that’s excellent, excellent advice. If something is draining your energy, walk away from it. If you do see, hear, or read a negative comment, vow to contribute to the Obama campaign, even if it’s only $5.00, or go write a Letter to the Editor. When you twitter or e-mail the negative source, whether on TV, radio, or a blog, tell them that for every lie and smear they deliver against the president, you give the president’s campaign more money and a renewed commitment of your time. Tell them that they have so little credibility and you accord them so little respect that instead of being discouraged by their ugliness, you are inspired to drop more dollars into the president’s coffers.
I heard from a DNC friend of mine who is working at the re-election office in Chicago that good OFA leaders are already on the ground in many states and that the campaign staff is psyched, excited and HIGHLY organized. I just sent another small contribution into their efforts–just because that lounge lizard Perry got into the race.
I sent more in last night also. I donate, even if small amount, whenever there is more crap in the papers or media.
Thanks for the great reminder taiping1 and Jacie Grumbacher. That is one good way to put our energies to work. We will prevail.
Great blog post from way back in December 2009 by Frank Schaeffer (Obama Will Triumph – So Will America). Good to look back to see how long President Obama has triumphed through all of the PL and RW blasts. We had his back then and we’ll have it through his second term! Here’s one of the reasons I like Frank, from the link:
“Who actually has failed … are the Americans that can’t see the beginning of a miracle of national rebirth right under their jaded noses. Who failed are the smart ass ideologues of the left and right who began rooting for this President to fail so that they could be proved right in their dire and morbid predictions. Who failed are the movers and shakers behind our obscenely dumb news cycles that have turned “news” into just more stupid entertainment for an entertainment-besotted infantile country … Here’s the good news: President Obama is succeeding without the help of his lefty “supporters” or hate-filled Republican detractors!
Great article by Frank Schaeffer back in December of 2009. And to think that was before Healthcare was actually passed, DADT repealed, Doma found unconstitutional, and the elimination of Bin Laden. 39% in Gallup’s polling today for the Prez. with the entrance of Rick Perry. We better keep tapping into this positive type of article to stay sane and motivated. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!
Thanks Linda. What a COOL video of our Prez. The kids can relate to this and get their mommies and daddies to vote for PBO. NICE!!
Michele Bachmann on MTP today reiterated her stance that LGBT people are suffering from personal bondage and enslavement and their lifestyle is wrong, sinful, and disgusting. Yet she says she isn’t judging them. Really? That’s how you don’t people? If LGBT individuals are suffering from personal bondage and enslavement, what does it mean for Marcus Bachmann? That he loves bondage? I have a pretty good gaydar and I’m sorry but anyone who doesn’t think Marcus Bachmann is flaming is not telling the truth. He is 110% gay and instead of both of them owning up to the truth and embracing honesty, they indulge in the nonsensical practice of “praying the gay away.”
We have got our work cut out for us gang! Gallup has the President at 39% today. The first time he has been under 40% since being President. We have got to push back on this!
Wow…..the MSM are accomplishing their work. And the GOP candidates are accomplishing their work. Now its time for us to accomplish our work. hmmm……………39%. That means the base is actually leaving?
Keith. I don’t know what it means right now. I do remember Gallup mentioning that it had to go deep into the numbers to find out why the President’s numbers continued to stay stable no matter how bad the news was. I remember thinking how strange it was for them to mention looking at there tracking approach, because the President’s numbers were not going down!. I wonder if they “fixed” their problem. I am skeptical and angry. There seems to be an organized effort on the media, the Republicans and now the polling groups to make it “look” like the President is losing his base. My interactions with people on the ground do not support this. But you know what they say. Perception is everything and NOONE is as good at shaping percetion as a determined media and political machine.
Yep, you are correct Frenchie. The ROBBERY of an election is ON. WE the people will have to prevent another THEFT of the Whitehouse. Of course the most recent was “W”s infamous thievery by virtue of the Supreme Court in 2000. ONLY IN AMERICA. It is obvious they have changed their polling strategy and/or calculations. Expect these new polling numbers to be splashed all across the MSM for the nation to digest and the Monday morning pundits to FEAST on like canibals. SICKENING!!!
No. I looked at the Gallup daily chart. Yesterday, 42 today 39, 41-44 for two months. A 3 drop in one day? Not statistically meaningful. I would not worry .Nothing happened, and it’s a weekend. No body is paying attention to Perry. People are just mad at politicians.
Gallup has been consistently the lowest for quite some time…..
yeah Linda, just noticed that. see above…
Gallup isn’t the only poll is it? We don’t vote till November 2012, why so worry? If the President was at 55 or 60, I wouldn’t be running around crowing that he’s unbeatable. It is going to be a battle we just have to get ready for the fight. Let’s get a GOP opponent for the President and we shall see the President put on his campaign mode.
Yes because this is all the morning shows will have on and say it is because of Rick Perry.
Where is the DNC? I don’t think they have been as supportive of PBO as they should be.
I’m going to contact them.
I don’t mean to insult folks but I do NOT like it when Teabaggers trivialize slavery as much and as often as they do by using it as an analogy for their bullshit.
Again I want to apologize but it just pisses me off
I totally agree.
Fred it is called the systematic dumbification and desensatizing of the masses. By November 2012 the Teafascist hope that America will consider slavery as a necessity and was not bad after all. That PBO has NO right being in the Whitehouse because he looks like a SLAVE. It fits the narrative of classic RACISTS and they want to turn this society in America upside down. They are well on the way if you want to go by recent national polling by Gallup.
No apologies necessary….it should make any decent person furious.
Re the polls, I don’t trust that they can’t be manipulated. I take them with a very large grain of salt. And think in and of themselves they lack appropriate perspective.
Yes, he definately looks like Liberace. That said, he most likely is homosexual, but he has been in a perpetual REPENT state and working on the inner spiritual metamorphysis that it would take to change into an heterosexual. In the meantime he is helping other ABOMINATIONS save their SOULS and leave homosexuality behind. Just my take.
Lol @ Liberace….Keith, I think your take is spot on……Waiting for someone to come forward with his closet dirt….
No problem Kasai!! We have to hang on. Since Perry’s splash into the Presidential race, PBO’s daily Gallup poll numbers have plummeted. We have to work hard and stay positive. Its going to be a treacherous long 15 months. The UGLY in America will be on display for the WORLD to see.
Keith, why do you say “plummeted”, polls can be manipulated and this MAY be just another way to demoralize Dems or make folks think pArry being in the race gives folks another “option” to President Obama. Don’t fall for the frame of the poll, the president has NOT fallen, the polls dropped, big difference…
“Since Perry’s splash into the Presidential race, PBO’s daily Gallup poll numbers have plummeted”
Keith?! They’re down 3 ….. that’s hardly the definition of “plummeting”. Stop reading GOPolitico
I need my bottle of brain bleach….imagining what kind of sex games these two play with each other! Do you suppose Michelle is a Dominatrix
HORRIFYING ISN’T IT SUE?
My brain just went there, now I am struggling to drag it back ……….Horrifying indeed!
I really feel sad for Marcus Bachmann, I’ld like him to shut up and go away and take his crazy assed wife with him…..but the truth is it makes me sad that he lives in such denial (I am, like UT 100% positive he is gay) and can only think of the self inflicted damage that does to his being. Anybiody know what the point of “FRED WHO” is, that completely escapes me and I am from Minnesota.
I was wondering who “Fred Who” was on the young man’s T-shirt as well. Those pursed lips by Marcus’ young companion speaks volumes. Nothing like Rightwing Christain fanatics that are HOMOPHOBIC and GAY at the same time. LMAO!! Obama/Biden 2012!!
Well….it looks like someone may have scored more than votes at the Fair.
WOW!! The Hypocricy is BLATANT!!
Wow Linda! Just wow!
Do the Bachmann’s have any son’s or adopted sons?
I think 2 sons, 3 daughters, and everyone of the 23 foster children they cared for were girls.
Chipsticks, your wordpress guy fixed the problems I was having, please send him a thank you from me..

Great uplifting video Kasai. WE need this as it seems the masses are turning on the President as we speak. I WILL KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!

FOLKS WE BETTER GET THE JOBS MEMME IN FULL MOTION CAUSE THE TEATHUGS AND THEIR CANDIDATES ARE BLATANTLY CAUSING SO MUCH DISTRATION WITH ALL THEIR LIES, MISQUOTES, AND DECEPTION WHILE SPEAKING NOTHING ON JOBS OR IMPROVING THE ECONOMY. I CAN’T BELIEVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FALLING FOR THIS BS.
And if you haven’t joined in the communication effort to the people in congress, whether letter,fax,e-mail or twitter please join in, we need to expand and increase the pressure.
Bachmann, who equated homosexuality to Satan, now claims she doesn’t judge gays
Both she and Perry will be moderating their stance on certain social issues. They know that there is a batch of the LGBT community that they can steal from PBO. AFter all, there are GAY RACIST in our society. Things are about to get UGLY FOLKS.
Don’t forget about the Log Cabin Republicans, already in place – but I think the Texas media will be helping keep the record straight.
“Rick Perry hires campaign spokesman who once compared Log Cabin Republicans to the KKK”
The Texas Freedom Network notes that Gov. Rick Perry, who confirmed Thursday that he’s running for president, has tapped Robert Black to serve on his campaign communications team.
Black is a former Perry spokesman who’s currently an Austin consultant. He’s also the former communications director for the Texas Republican Party.
In 1998, after the party famously refused to grant Log Cabin Republicans a booth at the state convention in Fort Worth, Black called LCR a “deviant group” and likened them to the Klu Klux Klan.
“We don’t allow pedophiles, transvestites and cross- dressers, either,” Black said at the time, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Good afternoon friends, I was anxious to get home from church and lunch and fill y’all in on our sermon this morning. The topic was Vision, Part 1. (Our church is getting ready to kick-off an big capital campaign, hence topic of Vision…for our church in the coming years.) Scripture was Jeremiah 29 and 30. Pastor talked a lot about Jeremiah….how he NEVER lost hope; he never lost vision…he could see what nobody else could see……said Jeremiah “drew a line in the sand” as far as his vision and hope in the future. Jeremiah bought a piece of property in Jerusalem and the people thought he was CRAZY. (Pastor compared what Jeremiah did to Noah’s building the ark when there was nothing but sun and dry land around and how everyone thought he was crazy.) Pastor talked about how the people were fighting among themselves; not sharing and NOT CARING ABOUT THE COMMON GOOD. He pointed out that Jeremiah never gave into fear…..he stayed focused on hope and vision…..that he didn’t think Jerusalem was “going to hell in a hand basket” and that for Jeremiah, it wasn’t just rhetoric when he spoke about hope and vision……he believed in it to the depths of his soul. Pastor defined vision–the act or power of seeing what no one else can see; without vision one begins to stumble; navigation is difficult; that if you take hope away, it kills the soul and how all that was happening in Jerusalem at the time when Jeremiah came in and “saved the day” because he refused to give in to fear. Now I ask you–Who do we know that sounds a lot like Jeremiah? As I wrote feverously with my Republican husband sitting beside me, I kept wondering “Does he get it?” Sadly, I am quite sure the answer is no. One reason is because he is close-minded regarding PO and another reason is he never listens to PO speak…press conference….anything. So he really doesn’t know PO’s thoughts, ideas, vision, hope, etc.
We are truly blessed to have the pastors we have at our church. I know for a fact that at least three out of the five pastors are Dems and likely one of the remaining two so only one do I have questions about. So, as far as I’m concerned, this makes us even more blessed!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful tnmtngirl. Thanks for sharing. I’m sure the story of Jeremiah gives you some hope. Thanks for spreading your HOPE here to your TOD family.
Great sermon and great retelling tnmtngrirl. As I was reading your recap, I kept screaming in my mind; This is exactly who Barack Obama is. He always speaks and practices hope over fear. He has such wonderful and long term visions of the country no as it is; but as it should be. He had enough vision, hope, and courage that he got up kicked the naysayers to the curb and ran for President even when it looked like a pipe dream. He buckled down, galvanized a nation and reminded us that at the end of it all hope will always triumph. Even when times are hard and the news is all manufactured doom and gloom, he continues to practice the art of hope and with all his legislative accomplishments, this country is on track to be a visionary beacon of what a country who advances and betters its people should be.
Thanks for your comments tnmtngirl. Wonderful thoughts that speak so much truth.
This is scarey .
Former Sen. Phil ‘Mental Recession’ Gramm Endorses His ‘Protege’ Rick Perry
Former senator and current banker Phil Gramm of Texas — well-connected to big donors but controversial for his role in preventing tighter regulation of Wall Street — told The Huffington Post yesterday that he is endorsing his former student and political protege, Texas Gov. Rick Perry…”I’m for Rick and I will do what I can to help,” Gramm said in an interview in Detroit. “He has been an effective governor. He is a determined guy from a small town who knows how to get things done.”
In 2008, Gramm, who was advising Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) presidential campaign (and was floated as McCain’s choice for Treasury Secretary) gained notoriety for saying that the country was “a nation of whiners” that was only in a “mental recession.”
But Gramm’s legacy goes much deeper than that. In 2001, he tucked the Commodity Futures Modernization Act into an unrelated, 11,000 page appropriations bill. That act ensured that the huge market in over-the-counter derivatives stayed unregulated, laying the groundwork for the 2008 financial crisis (and the implosions of AIG and Lehman Brothers). He also believes there should be no minimum wage and has derided the working poor by saying, “we’re the only nation in the world where all our poor people are fat.”
Perry was a student of Gramm’s at Texas A&M, and when Perry became governor “Gramm and his bank pushed a controversial proposal to allow the company to take out insurance polices on teachers and other workers, even though the workers themselves would not benefit.” If Gramm’s support is any indication, Perry’s zeal for financial deregulation will know no bounds.
Wow. Well not to worry. It’s a good thing Perry keeps on picking nutjobs like Phil Gramm. It makes it easier for the DNC and the Obama campaign team to point out what a horrible President he would be for this country. He would virtually eliminate the middle and working class and when more of his skeletons begin to come out of the closet; and trust me they will; then more people will just gravitate away from him.
He taught economics there…Didn’t Perry get a D in that class ? Perry’s transcripts have been posted on line.
So I have a completely random off the wall not important at all question. What was the name of the site before it changed it to TheObamaDiary? I don’t know what made me think of this but when I couldn’t figure it out on my own it irked me. So I said what better way to find out the to ask the Chipsticks herself or TOD Family.
I know. Just plain crazy!
I think it was formerly called http://www.theobamadiaryblog.wordpress.com or something like that.
Thanks! I couldn’t figure it out to save my life.
I love you guys!!! When I hear that Bachmann won the thing in Iowa I question the sanity of our country. One thing I know, our wonderful President makes people mad–simply because of what he is. Look at him–he has a beautiful wife that loves him, none of that chasin’ round that even Jackie Kennedy did. His children adore him, hang on his arms–no smart talk resentment towards Dad. He has close friends that always have his back. He has fun with sports and is really a good basketball player. His extended family, brother-in-law and mother-in-law, are fine people who really like him. He doesn’t have to deal with strange brothers like Carter and Clintons did. His vice-president respects him and there isn’t the wall between them like Reagan/Bush & Kennedy/Johnson. He has plenty of money and is loved and respected around the world. To top it all off–he’s black. Good Lord!!!! How that must grate on the Southern good ol’ boys.
You summed this up beautifully. Not to mention all those awards he’s won. And the accomplishments. They hate him, they are miserable, and I love it. Ha ha !
p.s. you forgot, he’s so darn cute!
Joy Reid’s take on the Ames straw poll:
There are three ways you can interpret the results of the Ames straw poll …
1. Iowa doesn’t matter – Iowa has, in recent years, produced victorious Republican straw poll and Iowa caucus winners who simply aren’t viable in a general election (think Pat Robertson and Mike Huckabee.) It could be that Iowa Republicans are so far in right wing la-la land, nothing they do matters. Hell, in a race where Michele Bachmann’s closest competitor was Ron Paul, this might be the operative interpretation. I’m sure Mitt Romney hopes so.
2. Iowa matters – Maybe in a normal year, the above interpretation would hold. But this is no normal political cycle, and this is no normal Republican Party. It could be that Ames exactly mirrors the mood and temperament of the GOP base, which has been driven further and further right with each Democratic president, to the point where a black president with the middle name “Hussein” and Muslim/atheist father simply blew their minds. If Ames is a reflection of where the Republican Party is, rather than an outlier, Bachmann’s big win is meaningful, will resonate in later races, and will ensure a wide re-election margin for Barack Obama.
3. Iowa kind of matters – In this interpretation, Iowa is merely an alarm bell, you know, like the one Sarah Palin claims Paul Revere was clanging as he rode off from telling the British that the patriots wouldn’t be givin’ up their guns … it’s a signal to sane Republicans to get on the stick, because if they don’t nominate a sane person, even a richy-rich sane person like Mitt Romney, some nutter is gonna be the nominee, and independents are going to think the entire GOP is crazy.
Oh, and Rick Perry is running for president.
Thanks for this brilliant, informative, and hilarious article LadyHawke. Just tweeted it.
Forgive me if this is a double post, but not sure I was logged in before.
To the point made earlier about whether Dem or Indie LGBT folks will be dragged to the R party because they may be racist … Don’t forget about the Log Cabin Republicans, already in place. However, I think the Texas media will be helping keep the record straight.

On tweeterland…one of my favorite NBA player and know a NBA commentator Bill Walton had this to tweet..:-)
#Many are alarmed that Rick Perry is running for President. But how bad could a cowboy governor from Texas who doesn’t believe in science be?
smart guy that Bill
So I tweeted back with my response:

Loved the Walton comment. I’ve often heard that as a group b-ballplayers are more democratic/liberal than other athletes.

only 4 percent of Texas Republicans say they’d vote for the governor, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll.
What a good note log off on – thank you Linda!
Well that was back in May. OF course it would be interesting to see how Perry polls post announcement. I can’t wait to see what his Texas brethren think of him running today.
What’s with the Debbie Downer thingy Keith…
We may need to keep this little tidbit handy…need to post this ALL OVER THE PLACE!
LOL @ CNN Misguided Title “Dem support for Obama’s re-election fades” and check out the Pic they chose…Big Time Fail..they can’t even write their own narrative…Shame Shame
and when you read and see the stats it tells a whole different story…..It’s almost comical
The negative narratives are astounding by the MSM. They so desperately want him to fail. Of course as you all know I have boycotted the MSM since the Invasion of Iraq in 2003, but I tuned in periodically to catch the Nov. 2008 election returns and I will never forget the pompous and biased election updates by Wolf Blitzeras disgusting and comical at the same time. Each time a state called in for PBO you could see the desperation that Wolf’s war hero John McCain and his misplaced Barbie Doll were not going to win. Kudos to CNN for continuing their fine FOX-like immitation.
Funny thing is that PBO support hasn’t change in about 12 mos…..So the Media gets frustrated, therefore re-writing a different script….hahahaha…
If this President is able to hold on these poll numbers, with all the mess and hatred that has been thrown at him…Just wait until he goes on a campaign mode and able to tell the American People….things that we don’t even know what’s been going inside DC. and trust me we saw a sample at the Battery plant this past week…and watch all the contenders bite the dust….they might even be too scared to debate this brilliant man. Can’t wait……”We must guard the change we made in 08″

POLL 13 -3-August 5-7, 2011
Okay….after reading all the data in that poll, I just called CNN comment line and pointed out their “error.” Sure, right…..not an error…..just their way of joining the bashing of PO.
I am Maritza, mother of A two legged child/daughter and married to a Vietnam Vet and the mother of two four legged boys plus a BIG democrat for sure supporting President Obama/Biden 2012.
Can we totally bully BWD to come back or should we respect her wishes and let her be? I have made donations to her fundraiser and will keep on doing till she gets back; I miss her period.
Thank you Chips for all that you do for our county.
Saludos to mi hermana Chips!
Hi Maritza – You will see many familiar names here. I often think BWD, TOD, TPV and a few others are one big family.
Suerte al presidente Obama.
I think she could use a break maritza running a blog is hard work. I am confident BWD will return when she feels she is ready. Right now, she is taking a well deserved break. The next few months leading up to the elections will be tough so I personally hope both BWD and Chips take as much time as needed before the election cycle really kicks into high gear.
anyone has the President’s h2h Bachmann;Perry and Romney please please please?
Media have conniptions about a supposed story about Romney being called weird. But offensive joke about killing PBO and his wife gets a yawn.
Shery Smith one hell of a hateful bitch.I made sure to send this to the DNC
Such a good little Christian.
Unbelievable. I don’t know if all Obama opposition is racist, but I think I can say with confidence that the tea party is. The big money backers, the Kochs, have used those willing to use racist dog whistles as a means to attract members, no matter what false reasons they give publicly. It’s been true from the get-go, almost all of the early TP signs had a racist flavor, before they clamped down on that practice lest anyone get the wrong idea, hahaha. And it is very telling what issues get attention—-the “weird” memo got lots of attention, the horrible injustice done to Michele Bachmann by Newsweek got attention from almost every single news person and pundit. But all the death threats against Obama, all the preposterous, false charges against him?—-nary a mention. And I see tonight the bad Gallup poll number is splashed on every news site. I wonder if the next poll showing a more positive number will get the same sirens flashing attention. No, I don’t wonder. I know. It won’t. This media is a big fat fail, a disgrace. It’s infuriating.
Howard G. Paster, a consummate Washington insider whose effectiveness as a corporate lobbyist took him to the White House as President Bill Clinton’s liaison to Congress, where he helped push through the North American Free Trade Agreement, died on Wednesday in Baltimore.
He was 66 and lived in Washington. As Mr. Clinton’s principal ambassador to Congress at the time, Mr. Paster had to overcome the opposition of a majority of House Democrats to pass NAFTA, relying heavily on Republican support instead.
Mr. Paster, whose style could be brusque and whose rhyming nickname was Faster Paster, was less persuasive in selling Mr. Clinton’s package of measures to stimulate a faltering economy through public works, education grants and the extension of unemployment benefits.
“It’s fair to say that the fact the stimulus bill did not pass is my responsibility,” Mr. Paster told The New York Times in May 1993. “I miscalculated over what it would take to negotiate a bill.”
In a statement after Mr. Paster’s death, Mr. Clinton said Mr. Paster had made a (“tremendous difference”) in carrying out his administration’s “crucial initiatives.”
Clinton really is the person who destroy the middle class and the banking system but he gets all the love from the democrat and all he did was made sure he came out richer, those people who he made rich are paying him back by giving to his Clinton health program,
Clinton is slick willie for real, He even got the blacks to call him the (first black president, not faithful to his wife, hint, hint)and he did not do half the stuff Obama has done for the black community.
Not having a real Education have mess up our country so bad that I don’t know if Obama can bring it back. Now I just pray for him and his family to coming out of this alive, because the whole world is about greed and one man with all the hate and lies from the money grabbing media, weak democrat, and the crazy republican, need more people to stand up with him and march on Washington mall to take this country back,
and say I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired about the jobs going over sea, I want our JOBs back and I want it back NOW!
Instead they complain about Obama won’t do this, Obama ain’t doing that, Obama don’t, Obama won’t , Obama can’t, Obama can, Obama should, Obama should not,
No he’s weak, No he’s not one of US, that not it, He’s BLACK, No he’s WHITE with black skin, all this coming from his base not only the republicans. We are screwed. I just pray him and family come out OK.
I know Obama family it time for me to step away for the TV for a while, until I come back to my sense that Obama got this. I Will do.
Hang in there, and here, dun. It is ugly because people can be uglly. They tend to forget they were created in God’s image, but right now they are doing a major disservice to humanity, and operating in sin. I shall continue to believe that PBO was appointed for a time such as this. And anyone here who does not adhere to this same belief, please spare me the indignation. We each have our own will to apply faith as we see fit. All I know is that I saw in a dream, in April 0f 2008, a beaming Senator Obama, the winner of the general election. At first wakening, I recalled the dream and assumed it was the primary that he would win. But something was unsettled with me about that assumption. The more I thought about it, it was revealed to me that he would win the presidency. I remember the suit he was wearing, which I had never seen on him before. It wasn’t until just last year, I saw a photo of him wearing that suit. Amazing to me. What’s more, I had a more sobering dream just before the mid-terms, and PBO was not a happy camper. This dream I revealed before that time, so as to give some legitimacy to my claims. I am keeping faith for all to turn for the better.
Gosh Dun sorry you are so desponded and lacking in HOPE. Please hang in there. I guess I have had a more upbeat attitude about the President’s prospect because I don’t watch all the GLOOM and DOOM. Yes, I suggest you better take a break from the news, dear. It will help you change some perspectives. Love you.
And yet this thread has been taken over by you, doom and gloom Keith, who clearly CAN’T take a break from the “news”. Shut the shit off! There are plenty of ways of being informed besides watching television. Why thrive on the TVLaand doom and gloom and spread it around, and then say, …”sorry for my doom and gloom, but be cheerful! Obama/Biden ’12!”.
Utter nonsense. Fact: Gallup has PBO lower than all other regular polls for six weeks (average 41%). Yesterday 42%, today 39%. Logical result? No. NYtimes/CBS 10 days ago, 48%. GOP never more unpopular.
Focus on the positive.
PBO is somewhere in the mid 40′s despite the right/wrong track being very high. Things are tough, and politics are rough, but he will be ok.
DTTM why are you attacking me? I am promoting HOPE. I expressed I never watch the news so what are you talking about? Any negative information I have shared has been through links coming from this site from this and other progressive sites. We are here to share information and uplift each other. Sometimes not so good info must be presented for plans of action to combat it. I am learning that now after so long hating anyone posting negative material. Obama/Biden 2012!!
The ” news” is 90% speculation, rumors and half-assed guesses about politics. There is very little actual factual information for anyone to use, let alone get upset about. Unplug from the stress box for a while and talk to real people, of all political persuasions and ask them how it looks from their perspective. Its a lot more enlightening and its more than the professional journalists can be bothered to do.
It absolutely had to be said…
Thanks Obama family for the pep talk, It look so ugly out there sometime. you are right keith in C-bus ohio the media gloom and doom will have you lacking in hope. Some time I feel so sad for Obama that it hurts to see him go through all the mess he has to put up with.
He’s such a wonderful person and so very caring about other it to bad that some people treat him so nasty, they have gone crazy. This bring back remembers of the days when I was a kid growing up in Alabama (in the 60s) I throught I never see those days again, but I was wrong. But I will keep hope alive not because of the american people but because of God.
There you go dun. God is the answer. Remember all mankind is fallible. There is only one infallible presense in this universe and we all should look to him for strength, courage, hope, and faith. PBO will get re-elected, but we are going to see the 1960′s revisited for these next 15mos because the Rightwing is DESPERATE and they know their time is running out. They will try to win at all cost. We have an edge on all the issues that Americans care about so you will see them fight and claw in the GUTTER. Watch Bachmann and Perry in action and you will see what I mean. Of course Romney is not that far behind them with his psychosis. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!! Obama/Biden 2012!!
It will be ok…
Remember, all things work together for those who trust in the Lord…
God is completely in control and we must trust that He has not brought this good and brilliant President this far only to make a mockery of him or to let him be defeated…
We must do and give our utmost to ensure President Obama’s re-election…the rest we must simply leave up to God and trust God completely…
In the end, what has been ordained will most certainly be and this in spite of the media, republicans, the PL and the others working against the general good…
President Obama is taking his message directly to the people. This is the only way to circumvent the media firewall. The White House Press Corps (aka the jackals) will pooh pooh the road trip. But we all know that’s because they won’t be able to spin what President Obama says. They hate it when he speaks the truth and makes the Republican Party look like the obstructionists they are.
OBAMA SET TO HIT THE ROAD TO DEBUNK THE GOP MISINFORMATION MACHINE
Obama begins his barnstorming tour in Minnesota, where he will speaks at a townhall meeting in Cannon Falls on Monday. He will then travel to Decorah, Iowa before holding a rural economic forum in Poesta, Iowa, on Tuesday. Wednesday will see him holding town hall meetings in Atkinson and Alpha, Illinois. It’s a chance for Obama not only to escape Washington but a chance to reconnect with voters. The people who get to see him will no doubt be as happy to see him as he will to see them.
The trip couldn’t come at a better time with the Republican hype machine going full bore. People are frightened and confused by what’s going on in Washington and by what the MSM is feeding them. The president will now have an opportunity to give them his take directly, free of unfriendly middlemen. His focus will be the economy and jobs, as might be expected.
Obama has been very outspoken in his disapproval for what’s been going on in Washington, D.C., with such comments as “Voters may have chosen divided government, but they sure didn’t vote for dysfunctional government.” He needs to distance himself from this obscenity in the minds of voters, making it clear that it is the Republicans who created our economic problems and that it is the Republicans who are working to prolong them.
As The Hill reports, “the bus is a rare mode of travel for a sitting president” and Michelle Malkin’s blog mocks it as an imitation of “Sarah Palin’s rolling menace.”
The president plans to spend several days with his family in Martha’s Vinyard following his Midwest trip according to Obama adviser David Axelrod.
It’s not even news that Republicans will oppose his vacation, citing the economic crisis they created and have prolonged, even though George W. Bush claimed we were in a battle for our very survival against Islamic terrorism while spending half his presidency on vacation.
Thanks for this Ladyhawke. The WH press corps are already pooh poohing the 3 day economic bus tour. Mark Knoller has been sending out sarcastic tweets he deems as “informative.” Saying that President Obama and the WH labeled this 3 day trip as an official WH trip and so taxpayers foot the bill. I told him so what? Bush used the WH, its facilities, and amenities to campaign for a second term and I didn’t see anyone in the MSM getting all bent out of shape that taxpayers had to foot the bill. Ridiculous nonsense. He then tweeted saying that this trip was just one more way for President Obama to blame the republicans in congress for the gridlock. And I told him to get his head out of his ass. Poll after poll have shown that the American people overwhelmingly blame the GOP for the roadblocks and stumbles in Washington. So when President Obama calls them out; he is right to do so. Sherijr also saw his tweets and has been hitting him back hard. These WH press corps annoy the crap out of me. They sit back, ask dumb stupid questions, do lazy reporting, and get paid big bucks. Oh the inhumanity!
Tell it UT. I find the jackals infuriating. They sit in the press briefing room looking like cheshire cats clicking away at their blackberries. Each question is dripping with sarcasm, innuendo and gotcha. There is nothing that resembles real journalism. I am astonished everyday at the stupid questions they ask. Most of the time the questions are just GOP talking points. I am so glad we have Jay Carney. I think he has been doing a wonderful job. I don’t know how he stands the jackals.
We have divided government and that means the Republican party has a responsibility to govern. But all we get from them is no jobs bills in seven months and hostage taking as a governing strategy. The media gives them a free ride and blames President Obama for everything that happens.
That’s where we come in. We have to be relentless in calling out the media and contacting our representatives in congress. Tweeting, emailing, phone calls, letters to the editor. Whatever it takes to pierce the media firewall.
I am thrilled to see all of the amazing articles that are fed up with the bashing of the president. I was really glad to see the segment with Charlie Rose where Fareed Zakaria told a bit of truth about the political environment that President Obama has had to operate in. Fareed Zakaria and Jonathan Chait debunked that article by Drew Westen. Westen really looked weak in his analysis of PBO’s leadership.
I hope those who can will send that Mark Knoller afew tweets and tell him about his stupid self.
WE’VE GOT WORK TO DO………
KEEP CALLING…KEEP KNOCKING ON DOORS…..KEEP TWEETING………..THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO GIVE UP
.KEEP HOPE ALIVE…LET’S GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for this video Kasai. The hope he inspires in millions of people is overwhelming. Just looking at their expressions. My goodness. All the blood, sweat, tears, time, hardwork I have will be used to spread the legislative accomplishments of this President in whatever medium; because he makes us realize that this isn’t about him. This election; this fight is about us. It’s a battle for hope over fear. Good over evil. Compassion over meanness. Optimism over cynicism. Togetherness over divisiveness. I can’t wait for the campaign season of 2012. The groundwork has already begun and boy am I FIRED UP. READY TO GO!!!!!!!!
Kasai I am in tears. I WANT TO RELIVE 2008 so bad. LETS DO THIS!!
I am with you Keith…When there’s too much gloom and doom….I am reminded over and over again…
THIS IS NOT ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA…is all about us our kids grand kids…Trust me PBO could easily not seek re-election, and don’t to have to worry for the rest of his life… but he cares so much for all of us, that’s he won’t allow us to go back, He won’t let Americans be second class citizens, He won’t let Americans forget….about that the “American Dream” is still within reach, if we allow PBO lead once more……
Yes We Can:-)
We must guard the change we made in 2008…Even though we stumbled in 2010…We must get up and get going!!!!,
Like PBO always says…THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME…it’s about you………We must re-elect this Brave Man like our lives depends on it. ..
Fired Up Ready to Go!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t pay any attention to polls this far out. Remember summer 2007……Romney was the anointed Republican candidate, and Hillary Clinton was the Democratic candidate by right. There is so much time between now and the first ACTUAL primary, and so many things can happen in the country and in the world. No president has ever been so polled as this president, and, frankly, I think no polls have ever been so meaningless. The fact that he has stayed pretty constant just annoys the press and analysts, because they have no grist for their pitiful mills.
People are just mad at politicians and “Washington” generally right now. Fortunately, football season is coming when Americans will settle back on their couches and watch endless games. Life will look much better when there is football, and politicians will not be the main targets of attention. The President always comes out better than the average joe politician. He is steady. This annoys the press endlessly.
If anyone will take notice, when a poll comes out and give the President good numbers the media hardly say a word about it, but let the numbers be down and that is all we hear. So we are not voting tomorrow, we don’t know who President Obama opponent will be, and their numbers could be worst than his. It’s a long way to go, he have not begun to fight. My confidence is still pretty good, because I believe in this President.
Keith in C-bus, Ohio, They want the President supporters to be down and feel like there is no hope. But they don’t know us. They don’t know Barack Obama. Because just when they count him out, he comes back. He is no way out, and let these idiots on the other side under estimate him, let them get over confidence, let the sorry ass media count him out. We will see who will be the last one standing. And even better than beating the Tea Republicans, is seeing the sorry ass media eat crow. I know we all who believe in this President will be right there fighting for him till we can’t fight any more. I’M IN. FIRED UP AND READY TO GO.
Me too annie. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!
I’m very very late but just had to say LOVE THAT RANDOM PIC – I could look at that each and every day = My POTUS is F-I-O-N-E!!!!!!
Wow…there are some scary people out there..Can they report this mess to the SS or the FBI
The chairwoman of the Sumter Tea Party is taking some heat after posting a joke on Facebook about killing the president and first lady. Do you think such a statement is appropriate, even as a joke?
Just to think that we have the same Tea-Party mentality running congress it’s very very scary…
We need to fight this BS…trust me they may joke about it..but this is sending a clear signal to the nuts…We’ve seen what happened in Arizona.
Let them know..how you feel.
When I say the Tea Party is the new name for the KKK, I am not joking. They are a bunch of radical racists terrorists. And if Americans want to elect something like that then this country deserve to go straight to “HELL”.
Tell it anniebella. So true, every word, especially the ending.
Thank you EDP4BHO. We have a good President, a good and decent man, and the good and decent folks need to realize that.

Bush Issued 291 Total Executive orders…Here’s the list
I was just wondering, if President Obama can sign executive orders; for example all the job bills that are ready to go, and the GOP are holding him back in getting our economy growing again so that PBO fails… Any thoughts?.
Well he can’t quite sign executive orders for job bills. Because any spending or appropriations has to originate from congress. Executive orders can also be overridden by another president. For example PBO was able to override Bush’s executive order banning funding for stem cell research. We can hope that Congress gets its act together and passes PBO’s infrastructure bank proposal or John Kerry’s other infrastructure and manufaturing bill. The other option for PBO would be a private sector govt partnership that focuses on manufacturing, trades, infrastructure and the like, the payroll tax cut, the patent bill and the trade deals.
The latest Obama Diary post in my inbox is entitled “lego” but when I try to open it it says “page not found”. Anyone else having this problem?
For those who are interested in the President’s bus tour – here is a link to Minneapolis local Channel 5 News about the event in Cannon Falls tomorrow. If you can bear with it there is an ad. followed by a brief glimpse of a scary face and then the coverage of the President’s visit starts.
Same problem with the lego post.
Wow—–hundreds lined up a day early for tickets in Cannon Falls. I felt sad about the 100′s who were disappointed and turned away. They’re excited there, the first visit by a president since 1928, Calvin Coolidge. Looking forward to this.
I know dotster! People hiding in porta potties so they can stay in line to get tickets. It was a long shot to get these tickets. Looks like a small venue so there were a lot of people who wouldn’t even try. When he was here in 2009 there were thousands of people but it was in the city and on a weekend so it was much easier for people to go.
Hiya WoS, my mistake! I accidentally made that ‘Lego’ post private – just fixed it
Thanks Chipsticks! I figured it must be a glitch or something. I see quite a few links to PBO’s visit already. The state has it’s hard line righties but also lots of admirers of the President.
Hi everyone and goodnigh, I’m off to bed. I’m preserving what little energy I’ve managed to pull together from what I lost last month and all your comments and links on this thread were a terrific help. Thank you everyone. I enjoyed especially seeing again” He’s Barack Obama, He’s come to save the day!” It was a true shot in the arm.
Chipsticks, please don’t overwork, please stay well. I don’t know what we’d do without you and blackwaterdog both!
Love to all.
