President Barack Obama speaks during a town hall meeting at Lower Hannah’s Bend Park in Cannon Falls, Minn.
I got a seat right in the front row, peeps!!
I’m saving a bunch of spots for the rest of us. Please bring water cause I know some of you will be fainting!!
Way to go! You’ll never forget today. Have fun!
I’m watching from the West Coast!!
OMG! You’re going to love it. He’s so amazing at these events.
I’m just kidding folks – kind of a cyber speak “front row”!!
Meta, this really made me laugh out loud! Sorry I didn’t get back in time to sit beside you. Going back to listen to Chips posted video now, before reading the rest of the comments.
The Republican Party is apparently having a cow about this economic bus tour to talk directly to the American people. They are wringing their hands about the fact that the tax payers are paying for the trip. We all know that what they don’t like about the bus tour is that it is circumventing the media firewall. There won’t be any jackals to pose the GOP talking points questions. When the American people get to see and hear President Obama “unfiltered” they like what they see. He is an adult and he just makes sense.
I really find this amusing. Talk about desperation and rank hypocrisy. I asked in a previous comment if the RNC Chairman really wanted to go down this road. Steve Benen responds and refreshes our memory about the problems the previous administration had with tax pay financed campaigning.
The report covered multiple areas of wrongdoing related to the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal officials from using their office to influence the electoral process, and found “a systematic misuse of federal resources” on the part of Bush administration officials.
Taxpayer-financed travel was one of the Bushies’ favorite moves. In one especially relevant example, at this point in 2003, the Bush White House sent three cabinet secretaries on a six-city bus tour — they even used the same luxury bus that Aerosmith used — to promote the administration’s tax cuts. Taxpayers paid for all of this.
The trips were all coordinated by the Bush/Cheney Office of Political Affairs, which was overseen by Karl Rove, and which was supposed to be prohibited from using public funds for partisan political purposes.
I can’t find any evidence of the RNC complaining about any of this.
For the record, I’m not suggesting Obama’s bus tour is inappropriate, but justified in a both-sides-do-it sort of way. I actually believe the opposite: the president is well justified in using public resources to talk to voters about the economy, but the Bushies almost certainly broke the law when they misused tax dollars to finance the politically-motivated travel of Bush cabinet secretaries.
To the Republicans, how is this any different than the multitude of town halls, factory visits, and face to face events he has conducted through out his Presidency. It’s no longer enough to obstruct in the halls of Congress, now you want to obstruct him from the people, and the people from him!
No words adequately describe the digust that Republicans inspire in me.
Sue – Hang in there. I could think of the words, but it wouldn’t be polite.
Since there is NO election this year, I don’t see it as campaigning. He is talking to the people, which ALL the presidents have done to sell their policies, visit plants, visit schools, visit healthcare facilties., etc.,
Here’s a map of the tour:
This sounds corny, but I love that map! I’d like to see more of that, as the campaign goes into full swing. Good way to know where PBO has been, and where he’s sprinkled his magic Obama dust on our fellow Americans!
Alright people…it’s showtime. One of the best examples of the so-called American Dream, and great American Patriot, Warren Buffet, has just kicked it off for us and President Barack Hussein Obama, and given us a very simple and clear Organizing tool. Please read, print out, and share his NY Times Op-ed with everyone one you know…moderate swing voters and crazy Teebaggerz alike:
The MegaMedia will work to diminish or simply ignore Buffet’s opinions, since he’s been saying this same thing for years, but now he’s put it out in such a clear and concise way, we can easily communicate the message ourselves to the rest of the electorate. Let’s do this!
Indeed it is a great article and a great idea.
Thx, bonkers. Warren Buffett is the man for THAT job! Well done. Just sent it along to a few folks who might “need” the inspiration.
I see Al Franken! Love him. Hope he and PBO were able to laugh a little.
I am watching on c-span and it says that Hank Paulson is coming on after this to talk about the economy.
brb… I am going to get a shoe to throw at the TV.
Paulson has said that Senator Obama understood and was very helpful during the TARP negioations and that Senator McCain did not have a clue what was going on. Paraphrasing.
Woohoo so excited!!!. PBO said we’ve added over 2 million jobs and the crowd agreed by clapping.
Wow. The visuals for his speech are amazing! The river background and lighting are perfect. Just saw the map too…what a great area to do this.
Oh, I have a complaint. My gorgeous president is wearing pleated pants. OH MY! I admit he always looks great, but I have always disliked those pants. I guess if that is the only negative thing I can say, then YAHOO Mr. President.
this is the first time I’ve ever seen the president sweat. For a while there I was beginning to think that he really didn’t have any sweat glands! then I saw it glistening on his forehead and throat…………….. let’s just say I developed a whole new appreciation for sweating and this president.
Some people find sweat kinda “hawt”. Lisa’s temperature is on the rise
Dorothy I actually think they fit his physique better than flat front pants, they accomodate more smoothly that great back side of his.
I always notice how his jeans, and flat front pants bunch up at his waist in the back. I am a seamstress so I think it’s why I notice little details like that……or maybe, I just like really checking him out
Sue, thanks for the breakdown on the issue. His butt does look particularly great today.
ha ha ha. I’m getting a kick outta you ladies. Great analysis!
Clearly I pay too much attention to that feature. You have an artist’s eye…….fashion no longer personally excites me outside of the creative aspect required to design it. President Obama’s physique makes for a beautiful clothes hanger, a favorite phrase of a professor I once had in college..
nothing better than to be rained in with the potus. hopefully my power doesn’t go out.
HA! He just talked about Buffet’s Op-Ed! Thank you, Mr. Buffet. People…this is our central Organizing message. Let’s go!
My god…he is just going to mop up the competition once the campaigning really heats up. It’s all about winning back the House right now and strengthening the Senate majority. We have got to succeed in this.
I so can’t wait for the real campaign season to begin. Right now the msm is letting the GOP fill up the space and airwaves with hot air. But when President Obama gets into real campaign mode…. my goodness; opposition watch out; because he is a BRILLIANT campaigner.
One thing I’ve really learned from watching him, and true Organizers in general like Al Giordano, is the importance of timing. Repubs/MegaMedia go absolutely berzerk whenever they feel like the have an issue to really hurt President Barack Hussein Obama. “True progressives” react equally fast and get all pissy about how Stanley Ann’s son let’s them trip all over themselves with their MegaMedia-driven lies.
Well, over and over again, President Obama shows how it’s better to wait, let the dust settle a little, and then pounce after they’ve all used up their gas. Like any athlete knows, pacing is the key so you are at the top of your game when coming up to the finish line.
He is extraordinary in so many ways. Thanks for a good comment, Bonkers. I had been consumed with medical issues for so long, I was not attending to politics very thoroughly. And finally came back. To…..holy shit.
Glad you’re able to be back – hang in there, ’cause it’s gonna get better and better. I can feel it!
I am afraid that the msm, which typically ignores anything PBO has to say, with primarily cover the repug candidate. I see the headlines now–Obama in trouble, 1 point ahead of repug candidate. All they care about it drama. Drama that they make up to keep them rating up.
What I am really curious to see is how MSNBC will deal with all of this. Perhaps they will get beyond the let’s belittle the president talk points.
Check out this fabulous video of Steve Harvey bringing down the tavis&cornie show. It is great. It is a real treat.
I am sorry, I forgot to give credit to Oh Crap I Have a Crush on Sarah Palin–great name for someone who cannot stand her. OCIHVSP used this clip this as part of a terrific piece on TPV.
Thank you for posting this Ms. Dorothy, it kills me everytime I hear it.
It was my first time, but I think I could listen to it over and over again. Great piece.
I think I’m on time 10 of listening to it. the later parts are my favorite.
who the hell has 3 days to sit down with yo’ Black azz?
I just saved it and will watch a little later (granddaughter here – gotta get offline). But that last snippet was FABULOUS.
rikyrah, I think that was the funniest part. The Tav wants Obama to spend three days with him. Hell, Michelle probably doesn’t seem him more than a few hours a day. The Tavis wants three days one on one.
I Love, love, love, love this clip!!!! Amen pastor, gonna look out for them “uncle toms” too.
Oooo, I can’t wait to watch/listen to this later.
Thanks for this clip. Tavis Smiley and Cornel West are whoring the plight of the poor people.
That young female voter who asked the first question was delightful. I loved how she thanked PBO for giving young voters like her, hope that the future will be better for her and other generations.
Perhaps this is projection, but the emotion in the people’s voices and their expressed gratitude to President Obama spoke volumes to me. I am proud of my fellow Minnesotans today, and feel well represented through them.
I was glad that he was actually able to see and hear from people who get it. They get that he’s been working very hard under some of the harshest conditions ever. I’m glad Cannon Falls let him know that he wasn’t alone, that despite the #GOP FAIL #MEDIA FAIL, we still know who’s got our backs and that we in turn have his.
Wasn’t that nice of the girl with the first question to ask about biofuels?
It’s just so beautiful in the park up there.
Ahhhh…..a guy who runs a broadband company.
Folks, I know many of you empathically assume he is depressed, disenchanted, etc, but look at him! He’s cool. Feel sorry for the country if THEY take over. POTUS will be fine. The polls made me unhappy as well, but I am going to fight it.
“Depressed and disenchanted?” I think that’s a PL/MSM/GOP assumption – not from the majority of us here.
Good. Some days it seems so. It was pervasive at times at BWD. OT – didn’t expect to miss her blog this much. Chips – need you!
I miss BWD, too. That was the first place I went every morning.
Not to worry – she’ll be back. She’s on Twitter everyday!
I miss her too but love her tweets!
Me too, I actually check twitter everyday now whereas I didn’t before.
I miaa BWD too. Hope she lurking here. She would be so tickled to see these pictures. Hi BWD!
misspelled – “I miss…”
The gallup poll is indeed a little depressing. We have a lot of time before the election. It is very strange that I always feel that Josh Marshall on TPM is happy when Obama numbers fall. Oh NOes, Obama is failing. I am sure he would love for someone to primary Obama. He is all buddy with Jane the Shame.
I honestly think Josh Marshall is in Obama’s corner but his team and their need to draw in eyes take over and so we have this breathless reporting over his numbers.
gobrooklyn, I hope you are right. Those writers are always making mistakes in what they write. Most of the commentators are usually angry with writers because of all of their hyperbole. Bunch of nasty trolls on a comments page today saying just the ugliest crap. That kind of people will bitch if Obama is not reelected because if he had been truly progressive, this would not have happened. What a bunch of losers.
I am sure half of them today were from Gos.
I love how MSNBC which is supposed to be the “liberal” network isn’t covering PBO’s VERY important speech. Even CNN aka Fox News Lite is covering it. Yet all weekend long, MSNBC covered ad nauseam the GOP’s event in Iowa. #EpicMediaFail.
It is being covered on C-Span 1 Live Tv.
Chuck Todd, especially breathlessly hung on to and passed along every single word Bachmann and Perry spoke. He is instead on twitter passing along a silly tweet from John Dickerson.
And oh, while I am not one to follow the polls because I think they are useless at this time, someone tweeted that PBO numbers are at 41 percent today. Think the media will breathlessly cover that? Naaah!
Like I told Todd in one of my tweets, history will not be kind to them.
History will not be kind to many, many factions of this era. Even Bush may get a few weak points, for staying out of it since he left this disaster. But an advanced country like ours, to countenance and display these horrors – I cannot imagine the post mortems. Like the “Reconstruction” in the 1800′s. Opportunity arose, but….
Hey Africa…was that 41 gallup? 42 Saturday 39 Sunday…if it was Gallup, just shows how volatile daily polls are…and perhaps should not get people too up, or down.
Yeah, I never look at daily polls because of their up down nature. Look for trends over time. Daily polls are crap in my estimation and only tell you what people are thinking about right at that moment, they aren’t reflecting on the big picture.
What’s crazy is that Chuck Todd himself noted the up and down swings of the daily tracking poll on one of the morning shows…all of this just fits into this narrative they are trying to build about how the Pres is in trouble. But looking at that townhall in Cannon Falls…the enthusiasm and the questions they asked…I think the MSM narrative is wrong, very wrong
Uta, Perhaps the President is actually okay by that. At least they are not talking about him in a negative way. I do have a terrible feeling that the president will be ignored by the so called lame stream media during the 21012 election period.
I liked that the guy thanked the President for the Stimulus money for his broadband business, but I feel like he could have chastised the Republicans for the discourse.
True, but he did ask the President to talk with his “colleagues in Washington,” I think, so I read a little more into that as meaning Republicans. He seemed as though he wasn’t going to openly criticize anybody (older gentleman, had old-time manners). Anyway, that’s my take.
But it would have been nice to hear them being chastised out loud by a Minnesota voter!
He’s bringing up the answer at the Debacle the other nite about no one taking a 10 to 1 spending cut to revenues.
Such a gorgeous setting. Very positive crowd.
New poll averages…..
Thanks, nasty stuff, but in American’s minds – “The buck stops…” As the economy rebounds, and it will, he will. I almost blame the media more than the voters, who are exhausted and scared, for shoving false reality down everyone’s throats.
POTUS is an inspiration. I woke up wanting to strangle Wolf Blitzer, but Obama uplifted me.
I lay the blame at the feet of the MSM/Republican coalition…..they both really pull my chain. It’s collusion on their respective parts.
OTOH – I am thrilled for YOU today, Sue.
I am thrilled as well that the President made room in his daunting schedule to visit our state today, and am equally excited for the people in Iowa. You could tell the people were really happy to be sharing his time as well. I’ve had a sense of calm all day today….call it the Obama effect.
Loved the guy who thanked PBO for the stimulus money for Broadband Connection businesses and the young man who told him that PBO had his vote in 2008 and he has his vote again in 2012. These are the real people not the jinned up fake outrage paid and portrayed by the media. Love love love PBO in this setting. He’s so brilliant, warm, on point, on his game, connected and the people see it, feel it, and realize that he’s not the monster that the media portrays him to be.
Exactly- everything you said ut. I’m so enjoying this.. loving it.
It is more evident now that KOCK Bros and R/W corp. are paying trolls to infest the web, with their talking points in trashing the President on the blogs/Yahoo…Based on what we see today, I am glad that PBO is taking it straight to the people, and by the way they interact and respond, they know they have “THE REAL DEAL”
He’s really speaking “rural” here. “We can’t eat our seed corn” he replies to a question about education.
ok….is this really Rick Perry ???
I hope someone asks him about the recent court ruling on ObamaCares….
They just did
Geesh…I missed it….what did he say about it ?
See utaustinliberal post below Linda
Did anyone else make the connection to his comment that he didn’t mind HCR being referred to as Obama Cares. Yesterday someone suggested referring to it as just that!
The President claimed it in his town hall at Cannon halls #obamacares
PO totally “owned” the Obama Care title. He said, yes He Obama does care.
Too funny. I think I wrote about that yesterday when someone recommended we call it something else. My thought was, why would we consider doing that because he does care. lol
They’re gonna HATE the day they named it “Obamacare.” LOL.
You and I had an exchange yesterday……you suggested Obama Cares, a much better idea than Obaneycare as I had suggested . When he said that today, I mmediately thought of you….WOOT WOOT! Think they visit here?
“Think they visit here?”
lol Sue – If the President is as smart as I know he is, he certainly has someone checking out TOD and BWD’s site.
That was too cool though, when he made the statement, I cracked up. Thinking . . . of course you do. OWN it. lolol
It hit me immediately, I think I jumped up from my seat….and all I could think of was the wisdom of your words. I love that you capitalized on the positive, and will remind myself to do the same. My hats off to you
I’ve seen someone or some people use Obama Care’s in the blogs before. I just can’t remember where I first saw it but Obama’s team surely got it from the blogs – A PRO OBAMA blog.
Hahahahahahaha I loooooooooooooooooove this President in campaign mode. He said I love the the other side’s term “ObamaCare’ Yes, ObamaCares is a good thing because I do care. I care about families who can now purchase healthcare. I don’t want to be the other side who doesn’t care. I care that people with pre-existing conditions are now covered. Whoooohooo
Watch. Now they will stop saying it. President turns what they think is a negative into a positive.
Africa….He’s a Genius….:-)
given that they go opposite of anywhere PBO is. I can’t wait to watch the GOPoop try to undo their conditioning when they are talking about ACA. ” Obamacare—uh, scratch that- the ACA.” Just them trying to reset their ugly is gonna be fun to watch. I especially can’t wait for Batshit Bachmann to use it now. Every time they use Obamacare, it’s gonna be a nod of respect to PBO since he now owns it, ” yes, Obama does care.”
Ooo, thanks for the pics, Chips! Looks fabulous — now THAT’s real America right there. That’s a REAL American President right there.
I LOVE how informed and intelligent this audience is!! Incredibly encouraging and as PBO always says, he trusts the American people.
Yes I am impressed by their knowledge
I AM LOVING THIS TOUR!! Absolutely brilliant!! This was a great kick-off session.
Can you imagine any one of the GOP presidential candidates handling a town hall so beautifully? President Obama is just so comfortable in his own skin. He is brilliant and audience gets it. The Republican Party is having a cow over the bus tour. What is ironic is that the main reason he has to do these events is because of their intransigence. President Obama is tired of the GOP obstruction and hostage taking as a governing strategy. He’s taking it to the people.
nope. that’s why no matter who the nominee is, PBO will CRUSH ‘em in a debate. Cause nobody is smarter and more effective a communicator than PBO. I almost feel sorry for the sore loser who things s/he is man enough to try.
Just saw POTUS shaking hands with his “biggest supporter”
THANK YOU CANNON FALLS!!!!!! You did us PROUD! The questions, comments, and verbal support was RIGHT ON TIME!!!!
Amazing to me he still talks to people like Adults, not like their auditioning to be the next dress-up BozoPresident, by now I would be mouthing my message to them in a Bumper Sticker Slogans!!
I just loved the line where he saw it’s fine with him if the other side want to call it Obamacare, the fact is I do care, Obama do care. I am looking forward to the 6pm town hall in Iowa. That guy with the strip shirt said he voted for the President in 2008, and he plans to vote for him in 2012.
Look at all those happy folks. Are we sure they’re Americans?
And, Chips, all those photos of Pres Obama from behind. What are you trying to do to us girls?
PPB (Perfect Presidential )
If they’re bad, then we’re all bad!
PoO, Chips is a really thoughtful, loving and caring friend. Have you noticed that she went back and added other pictures of the Prez to ‘hide’ the photos ‘from behind’ so as not to send you into meltdown?
Wow, MSNBC is showing the republican candidates responding to his bus tour and Perry was saying that Obama should put a “moratorium” on regulations. Wow. He said it’s regulations that killing jobs around the country. Yes, corporations are doing so horribly (record profits and cash on hand), that we should just remove all rules of the road because we also know corporations are always very responsible and should be able to regulate themselves!
What it really shows is that Perry has no idea what either the microeconomic or microeconomic factors to this recession are or he’s just lying through his teeth.
These people are simply economic cultists spouting economic dogma. No thinking required. They went to the Church of Tax Cuts and De-Regulation founded by Ronald “voodoo economics” Reagan where Grover Norquist is the head deacon. They have been evangelized and they are true believers. They can spout the doctrine at will, all real-world proof and reality to the contrary, they will keep on preaching these lies.
I loved that the young guy spouted PBO’s talking points back at him. I love how effective PBO is!!!!! He is a great teacher because all of us have the Powerpoint presentation down pat: no balancing the budget on the backs of the middle class and poor. Fair and balanced deficit reduction between spending cuts and closing tax loopholes that fund the jets of millionaires and billionaires and hedge fund managers, etc. etc. I’m telling you, it pays to be informed!!!! How can the media complain that PBO isn’t good with messaging when we can all spout ad nauseam what his rules and recommendations are? Idiots! PBO was sooooo fine though. Loved his manly sweating!! yum-yum!!! It was so hot, for a while there I thought he would undo a couple buttons. —- the women in the front would have all had conniption fits and SS would have trouble on their hands with all those lovely women chasing PBO’s fine behine down. mmmmmmmmmm hhhhmmmmm If I said it once, I’ve said it a million times, PBO is too fine for his own good.
ps- can’t wait for the next townhall
Simma down, mama….simma down!
Lisa. calm down before the SS is on your tail.
quick, go take a shower.
OMG!!!! You just slay me, lol, talking about the president. I’m starting to feel he Rrrreally needs those SS GUYS to stay close if your nearby LOL.
This was just awesome. Man, he looked so so so good. Confident. Full of energy. It’s the best I’ve seen him in a long time.
Damn straight, Obama cares.
You are as awesome as ever, Chip.
Ah BWD, the Queen of Awesomeness!!! Wasn’t that just completely uplifting, the fella even looked 20 years younger today! He needs to get out of DC, as often as possible – you can just see how much he is energized by campaigning and fighting his corner. Loved every minute of it – more please!
Hope you’re doing great BWD, love ya.
What’s really amazing is how informed these people were. We hear so much from the ignorant, we forget not many people are not. That they actually pay some attention.
I’m okay, my love. Super busy, as you know, but okay. Thanks.
OMG!!! ((hugs and kisses))) Love you!
I miss you BWD. Good to hear your voice.
Great shots of our President.
Wanted to share this wonderful video with you, produced by SEIU (my husband’s union). spread it around.
SEIU AD – Republicans Don’t Get the Message About Jobs
The SEIU is very impressive and has been effective. Love the ad! I’m a regular visitor to What is Working although I haven’t commented. I love the positive information at your blog. There is so much that is good going on and we lose sight of it if all we do is pay attention to the negative. The negative doesn’t create anything at all, it will be forgotten. But the new ideas and innovations will live long in our lives. President Obama recognizes this and always faces forward in making his dreams and ours real.
Thought it was great, informed questions as others have noted and President Obama always impressive at these kind of give and take and off the cuff remarks and answers to questions. He knows every issue backwards and forwards and sideways. He made clear where the problems lie, not with our government, our government is not broken, it’s our politics which are broken. And he made it very clear to the people to ask their representatives (Repubs) to put country over party, that there are no problems which aren’t solvable if Repubs would stop their nutty political games and put country before partisan politics, that we should expect the same decency and compromise from Congress that most people use in their everyday lives. That’s the clarion call—–country over party.
More good news for health care
Cost of Medicare’s Part D drug plan is dropping
This townhall was a reflection of the real America. Not the jinned up fake outrage that the media shoves in front of our faces. For now, I don’t give a fuck what the MSM’s takeaway of the townhall. In the next 5 minutes I might care…hahahaha. NOT. This President knows how to fire people up. I’m even more pumped up than ever to call out the GOP shill machine that is the media. To show you that the townhall was 100% real and unlike Bush, questions and questioners weren’t carefully screened and selected, a person asked about marijuana and medical marijuana and wasn’t cut off or dismissed. The people of Cannon Falls, MN were amazing. The voters knew the issues, they didn’t listen to the nonsense and demonization of President Obama that is ever prevalent in the media, they were informed, their questions were relevant. This gives me hope that more and more voters are hopefully getting real information. Suck it MSM.
“Suck it MSM”——— UT, I couldn’t have said it more eloquently, with as much class or panache or with as much disdain. You totally rock!
Chrysler to add 1,100 jobs at Toledo plant
Hmmm, WIW, did you say JOBS? I thought President Obama was ruining the jobs market. Musta been one of those other guys – like BOEHNER.
This is either a really cool idea or an experiment that won’t work. I have my fingers and toes crossed. Anything that promotes local agriculture.
Localize It: Podponics Grows High-Tech Organic Produce In Shipping Containers
Wow! Speaking of produce, my eight-year-old granddaughter and I just discussed fruits, vegetables, and exercise. She told me Mrs. Obama is on The Disney Channel and she says to get 60 minutes of exercise every day, so she does that. She said she LOVES Mrs. Obama and that she’s BEAUTIFUL. Said it in hushed tones, as though she knew she was very special.
Reason #4,986 why I love my grandchildren. (Well, I’d love them anyway, but you know what I mean.)
How awesome, so sweet! Thanks for sharing.
I love children and I love the elderly…they often come to the same conclusions. Children from a place of innocence, and our elders from lifes lessons and the wisdom that it brings. Your grand daughter just tugged on my heart strings.
WHEN WILL THE MEDIA TELL THE TRUTH??
I am reposting this item from The People’e View because it should be required reading for everyone especially the media (left and right). I continue to be amazed at the brilliant writing coming from The People’s View. The lazy media stenographers would never take the time to do the research required for this post. This is exemplary reporting. The title is – Yes, the President is Focused on Jobs. When Will the Media Tell the Truth about the GOP Jobs Blockade?
THE GOP JOB BLOCKADE
The President has been trying from his first day in office to put through measures to boost job creation. Again and again, he’s been met with Republican obstruction – or what I like to call the GOP Jobs Blockade. During the first two years of Obama’s presidency, the GOP Jobs Blockade took the form of undemocratic and unprecedented number of filibusters in the US Senate, slowing down the government’s response, and blocking needed action on job creation. And since the Republicans took over the House in last November’s elections, the GOP Jobs Blockade turned into active efforts to kill 3 million jobs.
So maybe it’s time for the media – on the Left and the Right, both traditional and “new” – to wake the hell up and start covering the actual story on jobs. The actual story on jobs is not that Washington has been ignoring it. The actual story on jobs is that the President has been putting his ideas out there – ideas that are solid, time-tested and real, while the GOP has been mounting a jobs blockade against the American people for the past three years after causing the economy to fall off the cliff in the first place. That’s the truth; you people in the media might try telling it for once.
Deaniac has been brilliant since I “met” him on DK years ago. Many of us ladies have proposed to him
I do not believe the Media will change unless everything changes in DC – all Dem, and resoundingly so. Then, we shall see if they want to be invited to the party or not. IF there is the sea change I fantasize about, the Right Media could lose revenue – and lose staff, verbiage, and power. (a girl can dream…)
Let’s make #Obamacares trend.
great idea and we can post key benefits of the healthcare plan.
Do we pick a specific day to do it or just random?
I think it’s time to let MSNBC know that a whole segment of the population is not happy with their current anti-Obama FOX immitating programming, the cheering for Repubs agenda that they are now engaged in. I see on twitter that Andrea Mitchell cut off Obama after a couple of minutes and aired a Rick Perry segment. I’ve seen only anti-Obama propaganda today on MSNBC. They only mention him with a negative story. They keep talking about Obama losing his former supporters, Smiley and West, and what doomsday that means, as if those 2 ever were supporters. They keep talking about Obama’s miserable poll number from yesterday, that news already outdated but it’s not stopping them. They seem only to want to report on the Repub candidates and promote them. A really ugly turn for MSNBC, our “liberal”—-hahahahahaha—-station. So far, no mention of Obama’s town hall.
I’ve been letting them know by not watching MSNBC. It’s very tempting at times – and I go peek – but I just hate their coverage now and all the bashing. Used to watch them HOURS and HOURS every day. Did remember to watch Rev. Al one day last week, and will try to think of it again! If they change, I’ll go back but I’ve pretty much been sickened by them.
MSNBC made a sharp right turn when they were purchased by COMCAST with Republican fund-raising CEO at the helm earlier this year. We cannot keep expecting MSNBC to be the same they were prior to January of this year. THEY ARE NOT the same at all. They’re part of the Republican echo chamber now.
Pardon my french. Pull the fucking plug on them….MSNBC is owned by Comcast. Cancelling my Comcast subscription was a very empowering experience. Their lean forward pitch is ‘razzle-dazzle’, it’s a lie. Reverand Sharpton and Lawrence O’Donnell can still be followed and supported via the internet.

Can we please, pretty please, have some pictures of FLOTUS? I really, really miss seeing that beautiful, gracious, classy lady!
KB2, me too. I miss my FLOTUS.
These photos made my day everyone! Isn’t the Worlds Biggest Obama Fan delightful?
Thank you Chips!
Ok where is my favorite SS agent, the bald gentleman, I think his name is Joe? I see the other two bald men and think they might be him but it’s not. I haven’t seen him with POTUS for a while, does anyone know if he’s not on this duty any more?
Al Sharpton was on fire. Great job so far
The Republicans look at this first day of President Obama bus tour and they are shaking in their boots.
