be nice ;-)

Just a very, very polite request: please keep things civil when you’re arguing with others here – as the man said, “disagree without being disagreeable”.

Argue away, but show each other some respect.

Thanks. ;-)

truer words have never been spoken. I love how PBO lives by the words he preaches. It makes it even better cause he’s so hot. Check it: a seriously HAWT man without turpitude who has a strong moral compass. Don’t think it can get any better. :)

Fallows over at The Atlantic has a great article on the Bank of America PR mess with Rick Perry. I can never link anything properly, so someone will probably have to re-post the link. Can I just say I love our President? He is just so classy. I’m glad he doesn’t get down in the mud like the PL is always yelling for him to do. It’s clear that is not how he was raised. He is civil. He tries to believe the best about everyone. When he’s crossed, he lets you know it, but always in a classy way. And those who treat him unfairly just end up self-destructing on their own. (Hillary, Weiner).

Hope we do see some nice, lovey-dovey pics of him and our first lady. The right wing heads will explode again.

Thanks doris. I can see the words, but not the video. Yes the gremlins have been acting up lately. It’s weird I will get most pictures and videos on a thread, but one of them wouldn’t post. I know in an earlier thread I saw other people were having the same issue. Chips said it was probably Word Press.

          • August 20, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Hi Sjterrid, it’s a day later and I also only have the words and a white space! Come to think of it, I also had a white space a couple of days ago with the Perry post, not that i minded not seeing HIM. I’m on Explorer and wordpress if that helps Chips when she’s troubleshooting, Usually I’m happy if I see all the Prez O videos AND the words. Not seeing the other guys doesn’t matter. ;)

            • August 20, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Hi VC – and everyone else having problems. :-(

I’ve contacted WordPress Support again about the video issues (and other problems people are having), still waiting to hear back.

Could I just double-check if everyone having recent trouble playing videos is using Internet Explorer?

If you are, could you try playing one of those videos on a different browser just to see if we can narrow the problem to IE? (WordPress recommend using Firefox)

Here are a few more suggestions from WordPress Support (http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies):

Some issues that you encounter with your WordPress.com blog or account can be solved by changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies.

Note: We recommend that you use Firefox for optimal performance with WordPress.com.

              Force Refresh

A force refresh or reload will cause the browser to re-check with the web server to make sure it has the latest copy of the web page you are viewing:

              Windows: Ctrl + F5
              Mac/Apple: Apple + R or Cmd + R
              Linux: F5

              Clear Your Cache and Cookies

Each time you access a web page, your web browser stores a temporary copy of the files needed to display the web page to you. Those temporary files are called the browser cache. If your cache is not updating properly or if it’s stuck, you could be viewing an older version of some of the supporting files.

If you are experiencing problems displaying WordPress.com pages, clearing the browser cache is a good first step to try to resolve the issue. If that doesn’t help, you should also try clearing the browser cookies. Instructions for clearing cache and cookies are different for each browser and version. Google has outlined the steps for all major browsers:

              Clearing cache and cookies
Note: It is also possible for your Internet Service Provider to create a cache at the network level. This means that instead of viewing the WordPress.com web servers for some files, the ISP has created a cache to store files on their network to try to reduce bandwidth costs and also to make loading some web pages faster. If a network-side cache is causing you trouble, you most likely just need to wait for it to clear out on its own.

              More Troubleshooting

If you are still having trouble, here are a few more things you can try:

Upgrade your browser and Flash Player to the latest version available.
Make sure wordpress.com, wp.com and their subdomains (*wordpress.com / *.wp.com) are not blocked by your browser. This also applies to your firewall or anti-virus software settings if you have any.
Try an alternate browser. If it works, then the issue is with the browser settings. Look for troubleshooting tips on your browser’s support documentation.
              Internet Explorer Solution Center
              Troubleshooting Firefox
              Safari Support

              *******
Hope one of these suggestions works. Sorry again to everyone having problems, I’ll keep at WordPress until they help me fix them!

Hi guys, the comments on the other thread scared me a bit. 48 per cent Democratic turnout? Please tell me that’s an exaggeration. Since I can’t vote or contribute to the campaign, I’ve decided to start tweeting and hopefully be able to influence those who can. My username is Turtleofzen and I’d like to know how to get started. I’m following PBO, VPB, White House and BWD. Who else would you recommend?

      August 19, 2011 at 10:43 pm

Hiya Esmerelda. Thanks so much for your contribution in our fight and determination to get PBO re-elected. As for the 48% democraticc turnout, that number is hogwash. First of all it’s too early in the election cycle for that nonsensical number and second of all, when the real campaign season rolls around, democrats are going to be more than fully engaged because the republicans have nutjobs running on their side.

As for twitter, my twitter handle is @utaustinliberal. If you follow me, I’ll follow you back. Also, I follow a lot of democrats in the house of reps and senate, a lot of media people, blogs and newspapers. So you can take a look at the people I follow and you can get an idea of who you want to follow.

      Here are some suggestions: @TheObamaDiary @NancyPelosi @DCCC @democratsforprogress @thepeoplesview @weeseeyou @pfeiffer44 @PressSec @SenatorReid @ChuckSchumer @JohnKerry @SteveWeinstein @SteveBenen @SteveKornacki @TheReidReport @TheRevAl @washingtonpost @msnbc @CNN @davidaxelrod @goldietaylor @RBReich @Clyburn @SenatorDurbin @nytimes @WhipHoyer @USAToday @DWSTweets @DNC @OFA @RepJohnLewis

      Hope this helps :)

        August 19, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Exactly. These polls about the so-called “enthusiasm problem” for Democrats are nothing more than BS propaganda pieces. Notice that you cannot find an equivalent article about the Republicans’ enthusiasm problem (which happens to be VERY LOW at the moment). So low, that the GOP debate on FOX last week was among the lowest rated time slots of FOX news. So low that Chris Christie is being constantly begged to run because voters are totally unsatisfied with the current crop of NINE GOP candidates….

But they want to push a meme about Dems lack of enthusiasm. It worked for them in the midterms, but it’s not going to work so well in a presidential year.

        • 29 JoJothecat
          August 20, 2011 at 11:48 am

The GOP enthusiasm will continue to exist because the GOP wants to get rid of many of the programs republican and independent voters want and they will never increase taxes. These people know you can’t continue to cut taxes only for the wealthy and send a $250 check to everyone else…that’s BS. If the GOP is so happy with the way things are going then why are they constantly looking for better candidates. They should stand behind Rommeny and call it a day. We know that the south will not vote for Mittins. The GOP is in big trouble with no candidate just a bunch of kooks.

An encouraging word…..we should be glad this stuff is happening this year, not next year. By this time next year most of this junk will be forgotten. Can you remember what upset us this time last year? I really can’t. These people are going to throw everything they can at the President, and he is going to stand tall and come out on the other side stronger than ever. I have learned to believe about 30% of what I hear, 30% of what I read, and 70% of what I see! This is rumor season.
People have been desperate to find “dirt” on this president and there is none. Therefore, they have to manufacture petty things. LIke the Freedom Riders, he will come out strong, and his attackers, like those thug cops with water hoses, will look awful and mean. Give it time.
It’s good that Rick Perry is being faced with 24/7 scrutiny. He never has been before. He rarely campaigned in person, didn’t interact with regular people. Remember how upset some were that Newt Gingrich was given an hour on Meet the Press? He buried himself in that hour. Showed himself up for exactly what he is. Justice Brandeis said “Sunlight is the best disinfectant” and I believe that. As long as Rick Perry and others operated away from public scrutiny, noone held them accountable. NOW, people see them for what they are. I LOVED that video from New Hampshire, that was funny and great. He didn’t know what to say! Those people won’t put up with him. He does NOT impress them!
So….take a deep breath, get rest this weekend, trust President Obama, and don’t believe the rumor mongers and the haters. We’re all in this for the long haul…..I’m in this for my precious grandchildren!

Here’s one for the CBC and the rest of the blowhards out there!!! For all the foiks who are talkin’ loud and sayin’ nothing… –

For those of you who don’t remember each and every word of this song, like I do (since I was in high school when it was released and STILL have the album), the lyric is a thing of beauty.

You Haven’t Done Nothin’ – Stevie Wonder

    “You Haven’t Done Nothin’ ”

We are amazed but not amused
By all the things you say that you’ll do
Though much concerned but not involved
With decisions that are made by you

But we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
    “You haven’t done nothin’ “!

It’s not too cool to be ridiculed
But you brought this upon yourself
The world is tired of pacifiers
We want the truth and nothing else

And we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
    “You haven’t done nothin’ “!

Jackson 5 join along with me say
Doo doo wop – hey hey hey
Doo doo wop – wow wow wow
Doo doo wop – co co co
Doo doo wop – naw naw naw
Doo doo wop – bum bum bum
    Doo doo wop

We would not care to wake up to the nightmare
    That’s becoming real life
But when mislead who knows a person’s mind
Can turn as cold as ice un hum

Why do you keep on making us hear your song
Telling us how you are changing right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
    “You haven’t done nothin’ “!
    Yeah

Jackson 5 sing along again say
    Doo doo wop
    Doo doo wop – oh
Doo doo wop – co co co
Doo doo wop – sing it baby
Doo doo wop – bum bum bum
    Doo doo wop – um
Sing it loud for your people say
Doo doo wop – um um um

Doo doo wop – stand up be counted, say
Doo doo wop – co co co
    Doo doo wop – ow
Doo doo wop – bum bum bum
Doo doo wop – ah hum

Unlike the stalker Romney, Sen. Scott Brown had a reason to be in Martha’s Vineyard this week, to conduct a townhall, since he represents Massachusetts. Just read a lackluster report of his event, and I’ll only pick this part of the link to share … because he’s one Republican who wouldn’t dare criticize the President for being on vacation in his state:

“He also spoke of his work on tourism issues in the Senate. ‘I know you’re going to have the first family here, and obviously it will be a boost to tourism, and tourism is critically important to Massachusetts,’ Sen. Brown said.

    http://www.mvtimes.com/marthas-vineyard/article.php?id=7137

That’s right, Senator, keep it short and sweet, and pray that the President and Mrs. Obama return to Massachusetts during the campaign!
