Facts are a powerful tool.
Just shows how obstuctionist these basterds really are.
I think their obstruction going back to the 111th Congress should be seered into America’s conscience. I don’t buy into the notion that the Tea Party has created this situation, it has been a Republican strategy from the get go.
I totally agree with you, Sue. The Republicans in the Senate were have been blocking everything from day one of his presidency.
Yes they are Sue. Love, love, love this administration.
…they keep us informed.
This should be tweeted and passed along to every professional left loudmouth that has called and deemed President Obama a miserable failure that has set liberalism and progressive ideology back decades.
Exactly. It’s a powerful, powerful chart on several levels.
Thank you, President Obama, for everything you are doing and trying to do for our country.
MAKES ME ILL JUST LOOKING AT IT! UNAMERICAN!
THE DAMAGE THE REPUBS. DO TO THIS COUNTRY..AND ALL BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SEE PBO FAIL! PBO WILL NOT MAKE FAILURE AN OPTION!
First of all, I commend and thank President Obama for allowing and increasing diversity on the courts to represent the true America. Second of all, to play politics with judicial nominees when the amount of judges affects peoples lives day in and day out is just frustrating and unfair.
BOTH AWESOME AND ETHICAL JUDGES…CAN’T SAY MUCH FOR BUSH’S BENCH CRONIES!
I’m going to tweet this at everyone who I can think of who should be doing something about it. This is a crying shame.
While it’s great they are finally focusing on this – I don’t know what this chart is really going to accomplish. I’d have loved to see Reid keep the Senate in through the August recess to get this backlog cleared up.
Seems that recesses are forever done. Senate Dems better not ever allow a Republican President to make recess appointments.
This is from Wiki on recess appointments (if accurate): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recess_appointment
Yeah, Reid own fault really. I think the Berwick recess appointment was the one that really rubbed the GOP wrong. But if they’re blocking recess appointments, it means they should be forced to allow up or down votes. And if they want to block them, then they don’t get to have their recess break.
The President has brought this problem up from time to time. This is part of an informational campaign to illustrate more about the do-nothing Repubs. It’s important because the logjam is nearing emergency proportions.
I can hardly wait for the President to hit the campaign trail. We have a tough fight ahead of us, but I know he’ll be ready to combat all of the lies and misinformation. We have got to pray for his strength and endurance because there is so much garbage out there even coming from his own party. I think this is why the First Lady is resting up because I think she is going to hit the campaign trail hard. If folk thought she was tough the last time around, they ain’t seen nothing yet. Let’s put our armor on folks, we’re going to need it.
As for FLOTUS and everyone wondering where she is, I came to the same conclusion, Doris. She is resting up to fight for her man :-D And for us.
POTUS and FLOTUS have a date night tonight. So glad they have jumped right into vacation mode.
I would love for them to left completely to each other, but at the same time would love to rubberneck. I think they deserve a place in history for many things, not the least being their ‘awesome love affair’.
..for them to be left
this is a crying shame.
Looking at Sotomayor and Kagan, I wonder if Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Stephen Breyer will retire next year or risk a Republican being elected and having to try and hold out for four or eight years or being replaced by a Perry. OTOH the Senate will block any nominee that isn’t to the right of Alito.
Two will never retire in the same year, so I suspect RBG will retire with Breyer will stick around. Bader Ginsberg will be 79 and has beat cancer twice, Breyer will be 73.
If President Obama loses in 2012, the Dems will lose the Supreme Court for a generation. Because President Romney would replace the remaining of Breyer/RBG, along with Scalia and Kennedy, probably with Judges in their early 50’s to have a 6-3 advantage for 25 years.
OTOH if President Obama is re-elected, he’ll very likely replace both RBG and Breyer, locking down the liberal wing for 20 years. And then 2016 would be a HUGE election as Scalia and Kennedy will be looking to retire.
This is the true face of obstructionism. And the telling sign of that is that 93% have bi-partisan suppo. In straight up and down votes they would probably all be approved with over 60 votes. But most of these aren’t evn being filibustered. My guess is that many of them are cases where a ingle Senator has placed a hold on the nomination and therefore a vote can’t be taken.
Didn’t a reporter dig up who was holding a judicial nominee up just awhile ago and then the Senator stopped the hold and the person got either a 100 to 0 or 99 to 1 vote? Maybe more of that kind of action should be taking place now.
To My TOD Family: First, I am not going to say too much on this, but I took the time to write letters to my terrific Senator, Barbara Boxer, Sen. John Kerry, Sen. Durbin, Senator Schumer and the Chairmain of the Judiciary Committee, Patrick Leahy about this problem. I love law, and have a precious family members who are in law and are very active. I was concerned because I knew how they were not getting President Obama’s nominations through and it is costing us a lot of money plus a lot of very serious cases are being put on hold because there are not enough judges to handle the cases. Plus a lot of the judges were appointed by other Administrations and they are messing up in some states the entire system in their rulings. We all know that tis is not right and just. I watched on C-SPAN the entire manner in which these Senators perfomed their usual comic theater for the public on President Obama’s current nominations. I did a little research, and then I wrote to the President, David Plouffe and others to share my concerns. One of my Senators wrote back with a very encouraging response. The Wh is very frustrated. They need us to write our Senators, the Judicial Committee, Harry and McConnell. This is very important. I hope we will get on the phones, e mail, write letters, and use all of our tech tools to help the President with this important matter. Our families, friends, and other citizens’ lives are being negatively affected by this mean-spirited holding up of the President’s nominations. Please help me with this one. Thank you so much. I believe in my heart that someone somewhere put this great tool of information that is so valuable for us to be able to use when we call with the facts. I wrote some of the same information in my letter. I think that the lay out of this information is brilliant. Let’s help ourselves and our President. We can do this. Thank you so much TOD Family. I will go now and not bother you all anymore tonight. But this really hurts me because I realize what is happening with the holding up of President Obama’s Judiciaal Nominations. I love you all, and I apologize if I have upset anyone in my family here. Love you all so very much.HZ
Thank you HZ. I will take time tomorrow to write to my Senators on this.
I will write and e-mail. HZ you are never a bother, quite the contrary, you bring such light and inspiration. Love you back!
Question HZ…do you recommend writing every member of the commitee? Both my Senators Klobuchar and Franken sit on this commitee so no problem……just wrote Reid and McConnell, I could feel my blood pressure rising with the later
Just wondering if you think it is best to approach each member individually?
How can we spread this info broader???
I think Asian-Americans are under-represented in this country and it’s sad. Thank you President Obama for having such a diverse administration (and family too!). BTW- we need more pics of his cute little Asian niece, Savita :)
