the soviet union is rising!

ThinkProgress: Of all the candidates vying for the GOP presidential nomination, Rep. Michele Bachmann perhaps has the most colorful record of flubbing historical facts … today, on the right-wing Christian attorney Jay Sekulow’s radio show, the congresswoman evinced a far more disturbing lack of basic knowledge about world history. Specifically, Bachmann said the American people are worried about “the rise of the Soviet Union.”

Apparently no one’s told her that America’s one-time Cold War nemesis has not existed for 20 years:

BACHMANN: What people recognize is that there’s a fear that the United States is in an unstoppable decline. They see the rise of China, the rise of India, the rise of the Soviet Union and our loss militarily going forward. And especially with this very bad debt ceiling bill, what we have done is given a favor to President Obama and the first thing he’ll whack is five hundred billion out of the military defense at a time when we’re fighting three wars. People recognize that.

In December 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated into 15 separate countries. It’s hard to believe Bachmann that the American people live in continued terror of an “evil empire” that no longer exists.

Thank you Loriah

You are absolutely on target, Fred! Michele Bachmann is indeed “beyond stupid.” It’s really amazing that this woman is a member of Congress and is considered to be a credible contender for the presidency of the United States.

Geez, I don’t know even know what to say about that idiot.

Calming down now, another week, another hit piece from the vile drunk Peggy Noonan. Just pure hatred, nothing else. What infuriate me the most is that she’s going to be on MJ as usual discussing her ”brilliant” article. What a hateful snob, there’s something wrong with her.

”The president was dropping his g’s, always a terrible sign, a kind of bowing that assumes he speaks from a great height. He also started saying “folks” again. That too is a tell. It’s the word politicians who think they’re better and brighter than normal people use when they’re trying to make normal people think they’re normal.”

Or they’re feeling relaxed out among normal people, Noonan. Or trying to make their audience relax. What low self-esteem you must have, you jealous idiot.

Peggy is projecting ….wow, all I can say is President Obama is really under her thin skin. She is probably threatened by his popularity, she is all about protecting the ghost of “Daddy Reagan”, her idol. She impresses me as being pathetic.

I doubt Peggy Noonan has actual contact with ‘normal’ people. Particularly if she’s spending her time with MJ. She’s a skank and shouldn’t even be allowed to mention the name Obama. Gees I detest that woman and her bigotry.

Wow, wouldn’t we all feel secure under President Bachmann. She would do wonders for our place in the world. Seriously, this is beyond belief. And just as frightening - she obviously sees the rise of China and the rise of India as something that requires growing our military. The question is - can she think of international relations in any terms other than military one-up-man-ship?

WHAT BACHMANN IS DOING IS DELIVERING HER OWN VERSION OF END-TIME PROPHECY. WHAT SHE DOESN’T KNOW IS THAT WHEN THE LORD DECIDES TO PULL THE PLUG ON THIS PLANET…ALL THE DOMINOES WILL BE IN PLACE REGARDLESS OF ANYONE’S FEAR! PEOPLE DEVELOP THESE CRAZY TRANSLATIONS…GOD WILL DELIVER ON HIS PROPHECY…NOT THEIRS! PERSONALLY, MY HOPE IS FOR HIS RETURN…IT WILL BE ON HIS TERMS NOT THE VERBAGE OF EMPTY HEADED TRANSLATORS WHO FIND IT DIFFICULT TO TIE THEIR OWN SHOES!

Wendell Potter exposes a Michele Bachmann lie and essentially does what Meet The Press David Gregory is not capable of doing - Wendell did some internet searches and then posed some follow-up questions to flush out the facts about her Obamacare accusation. Any self respecting reporter should have been able to do the same thing. This piece is long but the bottom line is Michele Bachman has an uncanny ability to lie with reckless abandon. Facts to Michel Bachmann is like garlic to a vampire. Take it away Wendell…..

    BACHMANN’S IOWA BLAME GAME:
    ============================

Candidate’s story about business that laid off workers due to Obamacare missing only one thing: facts.

If NBC’s David Gregory had asked just a couple follow-up questions of Michele Bachmann on Meet the Press last Sunday, he would have found that her anecdote about how “Obamacare” will lead to economic ruin doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

In fact, he would have found that the financial problems of the Iowa employer she cites to bolster her point are far more likely the result of the economic policies of former President George W. Bush.
    .
    .
    So it appears that

Obamacare and Dodd-Frank had little if anything to do with the problems at Cemen Tech. In reality, Cemen Tech’s problems stemmed from failed economic policies and insufficient oversight of financial institutions that occurred during the Bush years.

Let’s hope that the next time reporters get a chance to interview Michele Bachmann—or any other presidential candidate for that matter—that they ask a few pertinent follow-up questions. A little probing might force them to actually be honest with us.

And let’s not forget that the unhinged GOP presidential candidate has vowed that there will be no teleprompters in the White House.

Yet another inane, non-issue issue. I am beginning to carry a true sense of embarrassment about some of my fellow Americans. And the world watches…in horror and disbelief.

My Goodness. Idiots like this exist? The thing that infruriates me is she’s supposed to be a LAWYER!!!!!!!! She and the teabaggers tout themselves as masters of history and government. Yet she doesn’t know that the Soviet Union doesn’t exist anymore? Where do they breed these people? Where do conservatives grow up? This should be the number one reason why any draconian cuts to education are reprehensible. If education is allowed to go down the drain, we end up with a nation full of Michele Bachmanns, Sarah Palins, and other ignorant GOPTeabaggers.

Home schooling. The conservative movement has a separate educational system. People can be taught to function quite well in the world regarding money making activities and the technicalities of their profession without ever being exposed to scientific facts. History can be either scorned as irrelevant or taught in a way that presents their own community in the best possible light. Anything that contradicts their world view is simply left out or twisted to fit the narrative.
