Oh, thank you, Chipsticks for these two. I’ll check ‘em out tomorrow! Have a great night, and I’m sure we’ve all really appreciated the great coverage today.

The world is totally upside down! Here we have a son of Ronald Reagan, the icon of right wing conservatives, speaking truth when it comes to racism while an African American male, in his 50′s, who certainly knows, and has experienced racism, is in complete denial. What is it about being a Republican that trains you to lie, disregard facts, and disregard reality?

Michael Steele is a media Wh$$$. He doesn’t believe half the stuff that come out of his mouth.

Michael Steele is such a pathetic weasel…

Notice how reverent and differential he was with Ron Reagan…

Steele has practically lost his soul for all intents and purposes…

Self- loathing and greed is a terrible coupling that must surely rot the insides of those it afflicts…

Michael Steele must stink to high heavens with those rotted insides…eeeeeww…

Priebus kept mentioning how Obama promised the unemployment would be lowered. I wish Matthews had asked about the GOP and the jobs plan they promised…. Where is it?

Hi HZ. Totally OT for this thread but I just wanted to reply to you from a couple threads back when you asked about me. I replied there but just in case you didn’t see it I wanted to say that I am fine and that there is NOTHING to forgive – sam is a boy/girl name and it is east to get confused online. It was so kind of you to ask about me, it means a lot to me. I have been busy with my little boy as he is on vacation from school and been writing again (only one chapter to finishing my book)

I am glad to hear that you are getting better, you have been in my thoughts and prayers lately. Look after yourself and thank you once again for your kindness and your beautiful, heartfelt posts here. God bless.

Thanks for reminding me why I don’t watch TV….that first video was so infuriating I wanted to scream. Chris did do a pretty good job here though and deserves some positive reinforcement for this. Reince Priebus wants to have all the nastiness of the tea party at his disposal (because they have no separate party of their own) and at the same time claim that the “official” GOP is clean and free of all the nastiness. The money men are using the ignorant, who are basically just voting for the “White” party.

Ron Reagan was really great. He didn’t let Micheal Steele get away with anything. Steele is basically saying that it’s OK to have two realities- that saying one thing at one time and then changing what you say depending on the audience is just fine.

I contrast that with some of the links I’ve seen here on this site of the President that show how consistent he has been over the years and even decades. He treats all his audiences with respect and you don’t see him treating the public like stupid children who won’t notice if you say one thing one day and another the next. This is how I know that what the President says comes from a place of true commitment. This is why I support him. When I hear these republicans talking to their supporters I cringe because I could not bear to be spoken to by someone who would insult my intelligence like that.

Oh gosh, I barely made it through the first one, and lasted 30 seconds into the second, as soon as Micheal Steele said absolutely PBO should be blamed….I was done. I am such a wimp!

      August 20, 2011 at 2:14 am

It got better Sue. Ron really held him to account. It’s hard to listen to the talking points being trotted out though. Especially when they are directed against someone you respect.

      • 22 Sue in Minnesota
        August 20, 2011 at 2:24 am

I did watch the rest of it….talking points are so counter productive IMO…..especially knowing they are designed to persuade and not to inform. Would love to see the discussion of issues elevated intellectually, and treated more pragmatically.

    • 23 Sue in Minnesota
      August 20, 2011 at 2:18 am

Ok ,bucked up and watched it……Micheal Steele clearly doesn’t like Pribus does he…….that flattened him in a instant.

I wish there was political programming that dealt with the issues constructively instead the fighting between the parties. This is like sitting ringside at a boxing match. So they know how to throw a few punches, do any of these talking heads know how to solve our problems.

Thank God today and everyday for President Obama.

        August 20, 2011 at 2:37 am

I do too. In all seriousness, how are we ever going to move forward if all we do is score points instead of working on the very real problems we are facing? Both Republicans here are saying that it doesn’t matter if what you say is the truth. It’s just a big game to these two men. Politics has become a spectator sport with both sides cheering for their team and hearing only what they want to hear. I know there are many on the left who just want to see a good put-down of the opposition and I admit to enjoying some moments like that myself. But I think we have reached a point where we all have to grow up and start focusing on solving the problems because real people are suffering and we can’t afford this childishness anymore. I know this is what the President has been trying to tell us.

      August 20, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I couldn’t watch either one…after Chris told the guy that if the question was “are you worse or better off today thanyou were three years ago”?…and Chris said if that’s what the election will be about then you (the repubs) have won…what the hell is he talking about? This is the very reason why I can’t watch any of these fools…not even a short clip!

    • August 20, 2011 at 3:13 pm

Then I am more so because I won’t watch any of it but I will read a synopsis by others who have the stomach. It’s a farce with media wh$$$ being swatted down as best they can by reality beings. I stopped watching in 2002 right after the midterms and I can see by online comments that it’s only gotten worse.over the years. The dumbing down of America by the US propaganda machine.

I understand what you all are saying, but I wouldn’t lump the Dem party in with the game playing you mention. There is a difference between the PUMAA and PL and the heart of the Dem party. The true Dem party wants to get things done for the middle and working class of this country. Pumas and PL are the ones interested in games and showmanship from the left. The GOP are the ones interested in spectator sports. The Teathugs are only interested in the next election and going to any lengths to achieve their victory. The lies, distoritions, and decptions witnessed in these two vidoes demonstrates perfection the Teathug aims.

That said it is obvious the Teathugs want the Democratic party to appear to the public to be a part of the problem as well. They want the voting public to believe all Government is dysfunctional when it is they who have done all the obstruction and sabotage since PBO has been in office. The theatrics and DRAMA will only get worse as 2012 approagches. Thank God we have a President that won’t be participation though. Obama/Biden 2012!!

Keith I hear you, I may believe in progressive ideas, but I am happy to meet in the middle, and to continue to work towards progress. I also prefer to get along with people, despite political differences. I do not want to become close minded, jaded or extreme.

I am sick of the drama, it is misdirected energy and does not contribute to real solutions,in fact it impedes progress. I do admire those like UT that have the stomach and the hide to view it, and believe some, not all, deserves our pushback….Halperin and his dickish commentary, Maxine Waters and her misdirected politics,
Reverand Al and the good work he has been doing, there is always something that we can stand up for or against, and we should. I have cancelled my cable, and watch only selective excerpts via the internet. I do feel like a wimp at times, because I have become so intolerant of what they are serving up through the MSM, I simply don’t want to ingest it..it is toxic to my spirit. I would rather invest my energy and my actions in positive ways. Fortunately the internet provides us with an alternate information highway. I am trying to convince others that they are feeding on a unhealthy diet of MSM propoganda, and help them find sources for more factual, and purposeful information.

I didn’t get to hear what you shared with Maxine Water’s staff…did I miss your replay. Thanks for being such a dedicated foot soldier in our support of President Obama. He is truly a remarkable man, and history will show what some of our contemporaries are struggling to see or accept. Namaste

You can just hear the hot-button words popping out of Priebus’s mouth – the one that jumped out at me was “Authentic.” Well we can use that one, too. Obama is as authentic as it comes for me – thoughtful, caring, analytical etc. When they use “authentic” they are trying to revive the birth certificate crap and the notion that he is not one of us. Obama sure speaks for me.

Obviously these are rough times. But I do believe Pres. Obama has built up a reservoir of good will with the American people, a much greater reservoir than there is for the Republicans or tea partiers.

I don’t know if anyone caught something Ron Reagan said or asked: Is Rick Perry running for the NOMINATION or for PRESIDENT? Zing!

Hope all of you have a blessed day. I’ll be away for this morning. Our church is doing a CIA day–Cokesbury in Action……going out into our surrounding community to do ministry and service. I’m taking food to Ronald McDonald House and serving there. Can’t think of a better way to spend my birthday—giving back and serving others, especially RMH! (After losing a grandson to pediatric cancer.) And, I didn’t choose this service–just got assigned. God thing!!!

Good morning TOD family. Happy Birthday Tnmtngirl!! Great service work. We have a Ronald McCdonald House in my town. When I watched these two segments during Hardball, it just infruriated me with how much lies came from the republican camp. Watching Michael Steele be disingenuous in the face of dogwhistle politics just made me sick. How much are your morals, ethics, and soul worth Michael? How much?
