And this is Mitt’s plan to “put Americans back to work.”

Yep. He’s gonna start building a personal residence in every state. ;-)

      Could you believe the hypocracy?

Would everyone please scour their memories for names & comments of people who made national news with outrage over the Obama’s redecorating the WH or decorating for Christmas? I know there were lots of them. Would like to be prepared with rapid responses for #mediafail -thanks

I am not interested in this aspect of Romneys financial profile. I am more interested in how Romney came to have so much money, and what ways does he give back to the communities. Most importantly is how he relates to average Americans……at all levels of financial well being or not. Far and away the majority of us are not millionarires and billionaires. What does he know about financial stresses and struggles…..especially if he has never had personal experience with them. Rich people aren’t the problem, rich people that think money is more important than people are the problem. I have a brother that has an elevated appreciation for money….I know his life is far more difficult than it looks and far less glamorous than the trappings that represent it. He and his wife have an 11,000 sq foot home which is total excess, and has created a never ending cycle of stress and inability to ever let up working to support and maintain it. They have made poor choices in my opinion and are living a life that lacks balance and a true sense of security. I try not to be judgemental, but I see how it is money is driving their bus, how it takes precedent over their relationships, and how it is driving them hard, hard, hard and probably to an early grave.

        • August 23, 2011 at 7:07 pm

Sue, Romney got his money through a company Bain Capital a private equity fund founded in 1984.The operation worked this way they brought companies in bad financial shape. Then they went and cut jobs and sold off the good parts of these companies then the other parts usually go out of business. In fact they had to get a bank bail out to the tune of 10 million dollars and Romney and his partners made 4 million dollars on the deal.So Romney is just a jackal who makes money destroying things.Remember he believed that the auto companies should go bankrupt and no bail out.

I knew that this contributed in part to his financial portfolio. I am sure there is more to know. I don’t respect jackals…..or people that take adavantage of others for their own self enrichment. Romney maintains corporations are people, when I suppose, that argument is convenient to make. I think Romney thinks too highly of money.

    • August 23, 2011 at 8:35 pm

Can you just imagine what the press would be saying if Michelle and Barack were spending lots of money to fix up one of their mansions? Knoller and Henry, Tapper, and the whole f-ing crew would trash him.

Romney is already measuring the drapes, talking about VP runningmate candidates and now wants to build his “Western Whitehouse”. It’s comical you don’t hear a peep from the same talking heads who think going to Hawaii (the President’s home state) is too exotic and vacationing in MV is bad optics, how demolishing a $12M house to quadruple it’s size seems to be a-ok and attacking it is attacking his success and you must hate money.

Problem is Republicans value money more than people. They would be happy to have all of us lesser human beings be the cogs in their money making machines.

And the guy who was interviewed is another overfed, overrich old white male. That was a predictable response. Even had the gall to say the line about putting Americans to work! I bet that is Mitt’s whole plan! You have to say this was really bad timing on his part. But he has no sense whatsoever.

Whoever the GOP nominee is (my bet is Romney) the media will prop him up as some SAVIOR and SAINT to be a perfect opponent for President Obama.

      August 23, 2011 at 4:43 pm

He’s got a lot of baggage though. I suspect there will be a lot of push back from all sides. The GOP strategists too say that he speaks with forked-tongue. He may well be the nominee, but he’s not sweaky clean.

      • August 23, 2011 at 5:11 pm

do you ever get the feeling that Romney doesn’t work as hard as anyone else to get the nomination because he figure Koch & ‘Hos Unlimited — a mega corporation that includes all the GOPoopers, Mega Media, COC, etc.–will do all the dirty work for him ( including actual theft of elections) and all he’ll have to do is–heaven forfend— go to the inauguration, sit in the oval office, say what they tell him, go where they tell him, eat, sleep, poop and piss how, when, where and how often they tell him? They guy is paper mache, nothing real or substantive about him. He genuinely is devoid of human feeling or sensitivity.

BINGO………lisa you when the PRIZE. This is what I have been trying to tell supporters. Romney is CORP America’s mouthpiece and face. He will sit the sidelines through the entire election cycle. We must do everything possible to keep this election from being stolen. I hope PBO and the administration will launchiing a counter offensive (or better yet be proactive and launch an offensive in voting dictrics nationwide) in response to what is to come. I told you all more than once that Rove, Koch and Co. has found their puppet/lacky in the form of WEAK, NAUSEATING, and FLIP/FLOPING MITTENS. GGGGRRRRRR

William Gheen: Violent, Illegal Activities May Be Needed To Bring Down Obama

William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration says he now refers to the president as “Dictator Obama” rather than “President Obama.”

We’re no longer referring to him as President Barack Obama, our national organization has made the decision and made the announcement we now refer to him as Dictator Barack Obama. That’s what he is. And basically at this point, if you’re looking for a peaceful, political recourse there really isn’t one that we can think of, and I’m really not sure what to tell people out there than I guess they need to make decisions soon to just accept whatever comes next or some type of extra-political activities that I can’t really talk about because they’re all illegal and violent.

Can someone tell me why this type of speech is legal?

This is the same guy who was lamely joking around that he was “unemployed” and accusing President Obama of being elitist by vacationing in MV. President Obama was able to purchase his home due to the money from booksales, not money gotten from daddy’s pocket or gotten from companies one was supposed to help and not render them bankrupt. I bet this is his jobs plan

ps: Amidst all the news both international and domestic, the DOW closed, gaining 322 points. When it tanked, the msm blamed President Obama. Now that we’re in the green, so to speak……………crickets.

      August 23, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Call for action: Please tweet and/or email this sentiment to all major/minor talking heads. Let them know that we are not going to sit silent on their BS. If PBO can be blamed for the DOW dropping we demand equal time praising him when it goes up.

  10. August 23, 2011 at 4:55 pm

Coverage of Romney is boring. Wake me up when he wins the nomination.

  11. August 23, 2011 at 4:59 pm

what the guy being interviewed should have said instead of ” the bigger you are, the bigger target you are” is “the bigger the ass you are, the more people call you out on it”—– guy’s obviously batting for Romney’s camp. If you can’t see just how out of touch Romney is, I don’t know what to tell you.

  12. August 23, 2011 at 5:05 pm

Wish Romney would get the hell out of my state. People like him to have to build bloated craptastic houses on our beautiful beaches for a couple of people to inhabit, who don’t know what to do with their money, just make me sick. I hope this blows up in his face.

    We’re looking for interns
    By Steve Benen
    FacebookTwitterDiggRedditStumbleUponDelicious

The Washington Monthly is looking for a couple of super-bright and motivated interns for our D.C. offices beginning in September. It’s not a paid internship, alas, but the interns get hands-on experience working on the print magazine and the website (research, fact-checking, promo, and some writing), and the chance to say that they — along with Slate’s Jake Weisberg, the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein, and Politico co-founder John Harris — got their start as Washington Monthly interns.

Send resume and any writing samples to editors@washingtonmonthly.com.

Steve Benen is a contributing writer to the Washington Monthly, joining the publication in August, 2008 as chief blogger for the Washington Monthly blog, Political Animal.

Chipsticks are you interested in hanging out with Steve Benen

Even THIS is Obama’s fault. No, not the earthquake but he’ll probably get blamed for that too—–did you know he was golfing while on vacation! when the earthquake hit???? as was mentioned 3 times in an Indy Star story?—-but this is about Obama being so mean to poor Ar. Gov. Jan Brewer, keeping her from finishing her book that absolutely no one with a brain cell will want to read. It’s Obama’s fault, she said. Everything is. Read all about it:

    • August 23, 2011 at 5:56 pm

So it doesn’t look right for President Obama to go on vacation with his family, but it is just find for some GOP Presidential candidate millionaire to be enlarging his mansion. What an enlists.

      • August 23, 2011 at 5:59 pm

I guess it’s alright for the white man to have his ass stuck on his shoulder. But how dare a Black man act like he is something? Some people are something.

Too bad President Obama is working 24/7 and keeps interrupting her with what he’s trying to do for our country, while she’s trying not to be interrupted so she can make money for her purse. Too bad.

Romney and his handlers can’t be this tone deaf – he has to be doing this now for a reason. Maybe he’s expecting a long hard primary fight and this is his initial attempt to woo California primary voters.

  19. 48 carolyn
    August 23, 2011 at 8:02 pm

Romney is that tone deaf. Tearing down and rebuilding a mansion in La Jolla will win no plaudits from the average Californian, who is quite concerned about environment and ecology. California is way ahead of other states in environmental policies. They suffered the effects of smog in the 50s, so had a jumpstart on the reality of pollution, which others, like Texas, are still denying. I would like someone to find out if an environmental impact study was done before the permit was given. These huge mansions spoil the ocean view for us regular folk, and I detest them. These people think they OWN the ocean…..fortunately, California has a number of state owned public beaches.
Speaking of earthquakes…..the BIG one will take his big house right into the ocean….

“the Big one will take his big house right into the ocean”…..and that’s Karma baby, it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.
