Thanks Terrick ;-)
This was funny.
I saw this and mentioned it on the last thread.
He doesn’t enjoy it though did you see how he starts by rolling his eyes…..?!
Not at all sympatheti of those people who are happy to see the President.
He would love to enjoy that kind of popularity…
I didn’t get that at all, I just say Christie trying to take a photo, and stay out of everyone else’s way at the same time.
I give Christie a lot of points for calling the Crazies out regarding the bullshit about their screaming about Sharia law, and putting down Muslims, and telling Cantor to go fuck himself.
Anyone who thinks he’d disrespect the POTUS at this point is crazy. Come on people, we’re better than that. Aren’t we?
There were a LOT of Republicans who voted for our President. I’d like them to vote for him again, (only this time, vote D for everything else so he can get MORE good stuff done!) :D
You got it Tally. Right on girlfriend. :D
Yep. what you just said!
Tally, have you forgotten some of the disrespecful things Christie has said about the President on Joe the smuck”s Morning show. I don’t give Christie any credit because he is a User and a Liar. Just ask the Union members of NJ.
Mark my words he will shoot his big fat mouth about the President real soon.
Sure he is likely to spout off, but today, he is working with the president for the greater good of the people of New Jersey, which is a good thing. When he goes to spewing crap, we can go after him too.
Christi gets no credit from me. He is suppose to be working for the better good of the people of NJ. I don’t trust him and I don’t care how cute some of you think he looks in the photo op with my President.
A Liar is a liar is a liar….
Awww man that lady was like “hey dude take this picture of me with the president.” yeah he didn’t like that, you could see it in his face.
For all their trashing of Obama, they still “want his autograph”
Oh, my bad. She handed Christie the camera. OUCH!
I am sure that the time spent with PBO today, reinforces Christi’s reasoning as to why he decided not to run for president in 2012. :)
I believe that too.
Was thinking that earlier, myself, COS. :)
If looks could kill. . . that was epic (the look on Christie’s face)! :D
Chritie after someone’s job (Pete’s)
———– well first of all, he recognizes he’ll need a new one after 2012. Second of all, he recognizes that he can’t measure up to The Big Man so maybe he figures he’ll settle for second best( second only to POTUS). Too bad for Christie, he’s even less qualified for Pete’s job. :(
Lisa where have you been? I have been worried sick about you
Oh, hey Me4!!!! School and practicum started last week so I’ve been locked up in classes and the clinic. How are you? Have you been treating my man right since I’ve been away?— and no, Ms.Rascal, I don’t mean Chris Christie ;)
I have been a good girl as usual Mrs Lisa   Good to know you are OK.
Christie isn’t up until 2013 unfortunately. I think it’s 50/50 if he’ll even run for re-election, because if he loses it would hurt his 2016 chances. And the 2016 campaign will basically start in 2014, so the Dem candidate would run against him on that as well. NJ is a blue state and Christie only won because Corzine wouldn’t get out of the way when his numbers were in the tank.
This must have been hard on the ego. Talk about being put in your place; she treated Christie like he was her do boy, and to do it so that she could have a picture with “That One, the black guy” ouch!
That picture was great! I didn’t see that picture on Politico!
All of these pictures show the love the people have for the President! The love for him is popping off the screen!
Were any of these images on CNN? How was visit covered in the media? Sarah Palin was all over the news yesterday and this morning and she is not a candidate?
Oh, Bison. Haven’t you heard, love? CNN is FOX Lite. :(
The media is so anti Obama, they only want to show and report negative things about him.AND CNN has become FOX Jr. So I expect them to lick Palin’s and Bachmann, Perry and Romney’s behind. The same way FOX Sr. does. Any news about the President’s speech tomorrow at the Labor Day parade, what time will he speak? Will it be cover by any station?
Tomorrow’s Labor Day event in Detroit will feature Aretha Franklin & the Mosaic Youth Theater before the president’s speech at about 1:15pm Eastern. It’s going to be taking place in a big GM parking lot. Can’t wait to hear PBO address the crowd. Should be fierce.
I’m hoping it will be livestreamed somewhere. I’ll check around in the morning.
Thank for the info, meta.
I’m all for giving Christie a break here. I don’t think he had nearly the negative reaction that someone like Mitch M, John B, or Sarah P would have had. Can you picture that—-HA!
OT – I just went to check my email (which I only do once in a while ‘cos I don’t like technology) and found a letter from Jeremy Bird asking if I’m interested in signing up to be a volunteer in MY COMMUNITY. God, I wish I could! I don’t even know if there are any Americans in my community. How do people organize overseas? The fact that I cannot participate has been the biggest frustration for me because I feel so left out! I once tried to donate until I got to the declaration of American citizenship part. Once or twice when people were doing money bombs I contemplated pretending I lived at my father’s address (zip code, etc) in Texas, but decided that might not be smart as it wouldn’t correspond with my card info. Shucks! I HAVE to depend on all you guys to re-elect PBO while I offer moral support, or a shoulder to lean on, from the sidelines.
Yes you can participate as a volunter and mobilizer of those who are able to vote. you can organize events to bring people together, offer your residence (or other place) as a venue for these meet ups, join with an American to mobilize funds, collect vital state information (such as voter-registration deadlines, absent/overseas voting, policies that President Obama has enacted and how they are benefiting ordinary people), be a “store front” for merchandise to promote candidacy, work as volunter for gathering etc, etc. In my swing state we had young people from England volunteer for the campaign on the ground.
Are you kidding me?!!! Were they doing this from England, or did they have to take a trip to your state? More information, please!
the work done here was similar to that done by permanent resident (who are not eligible to vote) and immigrants who had only their labor as a contribution – remember labor is not documented the same way as finance
Most of the stuff to mobilize American voters overseases was done in the supporters’ home country by hooking up with Americans Democrats Abroad during the events put online by this group and its local affliates. clue is to start early so that people get used to you and your work ethic
actually, a few of these young people pooled transport resources to come to this midwest state for the last few months. once they got here they were housed, fed by local supporters of Then-Candidate Obama who had promised room and board. they were also linked to students group in this mainly college town and we hit the pavement together worked on office stuff such as dividing and distributing literature, data entry etc.
here is the kicker: during the last week of the campaign (actually the very last rally at the state capital – at least 50,000 people), these young people English men and women were so known by the local office that they worked the official rally as designated volunteers. they were not bothered by the Secret Service or the local police. even got to meet President Obama, First Lady Michele Obama and the precious kids Malia and Sasha on the rope line meet and greet.
Oh thank you for this extra information, Linda. You’ve definitely given me hope, as well as homework. ;)
one thing i forgot to mention is that this state is a msut-win for any republican who becomes POTUS. during the 2008, cycle, it was called for President Obama and its 21 electoral votes were added to the column amdist dancing, tears, and immense celebration in a vey huge hotel ballroom. I can still here the victory screams and I recall a person next to me who has a physical disability almost jumping out the wheel chair as the results were called.
you can imagine the huge sense of achievement these young English volunteers felt when their involvement paid off!!!
We’ll take it! :D Cheerlead away. I especially enjoy your wise comments and compassion. And please don’t feel like you are not a member of team because you are.
Thanks, Doris, I appreciate your comment. Most times I feel like a member of the team, but one who is not pulling her weight. There have been times when I’ve felt like saying some little thing then pulled back thinking, ‘Who are you to intrude there?’ Of course, when I remember that President Obama is THE leader of the world and I am a citizen of the world, then I just feel cheated (= sorry for myself ;) ) that I cannot be more actively involved in his re-election. IMO it is so important that he be given all the time possible to lay the foundation for lasting change in the way politics is enacted in America. It is my belief that if this happens it will untimately affect how politics is practised in the rest of the world. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!
vcprezofan2, i replied to you but comment is not showing – and it was long. I will wait a while and see if it does. if I forget to provide a reminder so I can give the info I had written
vcprezofan2 – Each and every contribution, large or small, of time or moral support or whatever = most appreciated!
Thanks, Jacque. There’s no choice about being on site here as I’m addicted, and still at Step 3 (Acknowledging the Problem Again) of the 12-Step withdrawal programme that Sue in M is on. ;)
vcprezofan, I totally understand your frustrations, I am in the same position as you are but know your support is valued and you are a treasured member of the TOD family. I know we are all working hard to help re elect President Obama.
vcprezofan2 I understand your frustration. In 2008 I couldn’t vote neither contribute. I was very active in talking to people in the community, I did some babysitting on election day so people could go out and vote. There is always a way to help. This year I became Permanent Resident. I still can’t vote but I can make financial contributions! Though I don’t have much as I am not working right now, I was very happy to donate to the campaign!!
Holiday Inn responds: liberal protests against cantor were a security threat.
I wrote the company and explained to them why I am not going to patronize their business any longer. Since Citizen’s United and then finding out about ALEC I boycott companies that take a political stance that undermines our democratic process.
Photo of the week from the recovery act(yeah that one):
Oh my the lady giving her “governor” the camera to take a picture of the communist, marxist, America-hating, dictator President Obama was just too funny.. Priceless.
Hahahahaaha….. Proud. Watching Christie try to get a good spot to take the picture made me crack up. At least he was being a good sport.
this time the electronic “pests” are attacking my comments and making them disappear in the yonder. I will keep trying
Hiya Linda, you mustn’t have signed in, I’m finding all your comments in ‘pending’ under ‘anonymous’. But I’m freeing them all! ;-)
thanks Chipsticks, you are right. I forgot that I had to restart my computer a few minutes ago and lost my signing in info. corrected it now
Hi Linda, you’ve given me something to think about. I’m going to send a positive response to Jeremy Bird tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again for giving me hope. I am quite thrilled at the prospects that now seem possible.
Hey Ms Chips, did you see my request to highlight Zizi’s terrific commentary from the ‘weekly address’ post? The request was even seconded, and followed up with several ‘Ayes’ of support!! I won’t mention the bribe you were offered of course, because I don’t want to offend you. ;) ;)
And by the way, how come you are still up? Do you have a labour day holiday tomorrow too?
The Gov.pretending he is the presidential photographer.
That woman gave him the camera and he took the POTUS picture with her. I just love those Jersey Girls.
The look on his face cracked me up.
I guess the Gov. likes being on the people’s team.
I mentioned this on a previous thread but Christie was all over the state making amends for his lack of leadership in December when he went to Disney world instead of staying during a big December blizzard. His approval ratings are down as he is a nasty individual. His tour with the president was all show. He is no different than all the rest of the Repub. governors, turning down fed. money for a tunnel to NYC, closing health centers for poor women, destroying public education , demeaning public employees all the while protecting his rich friends. NJ reporters were really annoyed with him as he went on all the national TV shows to talk about the hurricane and gave no specific information to NJ citizens. He even banned the reporters from listening and watching him do his TV stuff. If he ran for president, he would not carry NJ and I think that is keeping him from running.
