the wisdom of youth….

Chicago Tribune: Congressman Joe Walsh fielded some tough questions this morning from a high school government class in Mundelein, with students asking why he plans to boycott a jobs speech by President Barack Obama and how he’s handling his ex-wife’s lawsuit alleging he owes child support.

…. When asked about the money he allegedly owes in child support, Walsh responded the same way he has in other public venues:

“It makes me sad that my ex-wife did what she did,” he said. “I am going to fight it because it just isn’t true. … I am going to fight it privately and legally because anything I say can be held against me.”

His ex-wife, Laura Walsh, is seeking $117,437 in unpaid child support and interest in a case filed in Cook County Circuit Court. The couple has three children and divorced in 2004.

… When asked about the Tea Party and its beliefs, Walsh first turned the question back to students, asking them what they think when they hear the term “Tea Party”.

Students’ responses included: “Republicans,” “reducing taxes” and “Fox News.”

Self-proclaimed liberal Samuel Cruz, 16, described the Tea Party as “a small group of people who are insane and out of touch with reality.”

The man in the article makes me sick to my stomach. How could anyone NOT show up to vote for a much better candidate?

Even better! :) But we actually need him both in “government” and to make “history”!

If all of our upcoming next generation of voters are like these students, the poor, shrinking middle-class and seniors will be in good hands. Bravo!!

What a wise young man! I really did laugh out loud (too good for the abbreviation) – anyone know what Walsh’s answer was? Samuel, major props for speaking up to Walsh. Hope he runs for for student council president, if he isn’t already.

Walsh comes from one of the rich suburbs and reflects the thinking in that part of IL. He’s a stain on Americas skivvies.

Wrong. His district covers a wide range from low to high, most middle class. It was the tea party who showed up to vote—-none too wealthy by the looks of them—- and those who didn’t who are responsible for his narrow win. A fluke, really, with the addition of a green party candidate, which was probably purposeful to sap votes from Dem incumbent, Melissa Bean. In any case, from the comments in our local paper in his district and in the Trib, it appears that his nuttiness and shameful behavior has been uncovered for all to see, and most everyone is embarrassed and not happy. He has been redistricted out, so —so long Joe—-he’ll have a tough race wherever he decides to run because all are the wiser. And the best part of this story—–the kids—–they’re current and smart.

I love how Rev. Al is focused on Nikie Haley of South Carolina. He has pointed out her hypocrisy before.

I missed it. Was he talking about her trip for jobs which resulted in no jobs but cost S.C. taxpayers mucho dinero—-while she and her contingent stayed at 5 star hotels in France and dined at the Ritz Paris? Some politicians are really in it for the personal perks, aren’t they?

I can’t wait for more and more young people to reach voting age. The electorate is changing right before our very own eyes. I just hope that they are consistent in voting and show up for mid-term as well as Presidential elections.

I think our kids are really smart. They know how hard this POTUS work for them.
