President Obama at Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School in Columbus, Ohio
Wow, what a great photo with “AMERICAN JOBS BILL” perfectly centered with our awesome President Obama at the podium. I think the crowd likes him.
I think so, too!
And could he make the message any clearer?
And what a nice, diverse mix of human beings behind him.
That’s what I love about the President’s events and democratic events. There’s always a diverse mix of people that represents the true face of America.
Of couse these are all excellent updates chip, thanks!
What’s astounding is John boner gets most of his money from big coal and he says we are willing to shut down the government if we do not put a moratorium on EPA regulations!
It is just to much fir one man to handle, they are desperate to regain the narrative!
While the President is talking about jobs, boner is threatening to shut down the government over policy riders!
Boner cannot play that hand again, real democrats will freakout!
Love my President!! He was on fire today as always. Any one know how big the crowd was? It is hard to tell when they are outside.
Thanks you so much Chips for the updates and photos. You are the best!!!
Is iad an chuad is fearr do……
Chipsticks I left you little message in what I thought was Irish last night……Eleroy thought I had lost control of my keyboard
today I requested to again translate “You are the best” into Irish via the internet. Problem is today’s translation does not resemble yesterday’s translation with the exception of the word fearr, so now I am wondering what in fact I wrote I’ll stick to English from here forward.
I’ld like to join Debz in saying …You Are The Best!
She is the best in any language!!
Sue, you just made me laugh so loud the roof nearly came off. I seriously could hardly breathe after reading this: “Eleroy thought I had lost control of my keyboard”.
I completely missed your Irish greeting last night, thank you sooooOOOOOOooooo much, that’s just the cutest thing ever!!!!!!
My Irish is not good at all (well, apart from ‘Is féidir linn’ obviously), but I think what you wrote was:
“Rick Perry rocks.”
You’re a sweetheart, love ya!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn…please don’t banish me from this paradise! Eleroy was like Sue?????? WTF
Love you back!
Thank you Chips fantastic beautiful this President can deliver I hope everybody have contacted their Representives
Senators all of my family did all ready here in my State. so America this our opportinity to put pur country where it
needs to go foward to the 21st century we are all AMERICANS do not forget. Si se puede.
Elizabeth Warren announcing Senate run tomorrow.
That is awesome. Bye bye Scott Brown and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
I hope she gives full support to the American Jobs Act as part of her candidacy speech. Put Brown on the spot right away.
Great to hear about Elizabeth Warren. I think the T-Republicans are going to regret blocking her from that position. When they will have to deal with her in the Senate, and she kick Brownie Boy out.
Great news we need to get the seat back and do we think the PL would not like Obama to campaign for her??
of course he will. I remember the PL was saying that Obama trew Elizabeth under the BUS. LOL.
She’s on my list for campaign donations….Scott can get back in his truck and head back to Boston.
Oh heavens, per TPM, the house progressives are complaining that PBO’s jobs bill isn’t good enough. These jackasss!!! They just can not support this President on anything.:-x
We need to blast them. Send Raul a tweet. I need to find his last name but I think he’s the chair and Keith Ellison is very involved.
And Woolsey and Shakowski I am sick of thse people
I sent Grijalva a message and said we are tired of them not standing behind our President. I will do the same for all members.
I sent a tweet to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Steny Hoyer – they need to get their people under control. This is ridiculous.
Yes. They have a job to do. They can’t allow these people to continue to hurt this president and thus the Dem party.
@USProgressives is the Twitter name for the progressive caucus. @officialCBC is for the Black congressional caucus.
Grijalva. Raul Grijalva from AZ:)
His name is Raul Grijalva he gives me the crips another Allan Grayson. Everybody let’s tweet and E- Mail the
hell until he stops his B.S.
This is WHY I can’t stand the damn dems….every damn caucus will be out complaining instead of supporting President Obama. I think Debbie is the only one I like, that I can think of right now……I’m about to curse.
Steny Hoyer has sent about four tweets this morning and over the past few days about the jobs bill. I’m hoping him and Debbie can rally these wayward Dems.
I am tired of the impression this creates, that everyone is simply piling on. Having said that would someone help me understand if their is a political upside to this, more kabuki theater I suppose….but does it help frame the President’s plan as moderate. I really don’t want to set my hair on fire again, after what I did to it last night
Well, I would think that saying we need an even bigger jobs bill could help in the long-run convince people that Government Spending is actually helpful to getting our economy back on track. But doing it by blasting the President isn’t good.
It’s one thing if they sayy “Let’s pass this bill, ahnd then work on gettiing another one going.” But, if they’re just complaining . . . I can’t see how that helps. Negativity is just too contagious. I don’t think moderates or independents are too swayed by that kind of thing. Only folks on the edge of the spectrum thrive on anger.
Ooops, I didn’t even think of that….You’re right,
It could, Sue..they can whine all they want about it not being perfect enough as long as We The People help President Obama to get this JOBS Bill Passed!
It would depend on how they’re doing it really. If it’s “kill the bill – this plan is shit” than I agree. However if they’re saying “Look it;s a good start, but we’d like to see a much bigger one” than I can live with their criticisms because if they come out in full throated support than it makes it easier to paint the bill as partisan to please the President’s base. The Progressive caucus saying it’s not enough makes the American Jobs Act framed as middle of the road.
They really just need to learn how to be for more while still supporting what is in front of them.
As a commenter on TPM said, PBO kept the cost low to take away a republican talking point and these “progressives” are giving the talking point back to repugs by wanting it to cost more. They are stabbing PBO in the back here.
They can want it to be more all they want, and the GOP will want it to be less (or none at all) it makes the American Jobs Act look middle of the road. If they came out saying “This is brilliant and all we ever wanted” that would be giving the GOP it’s talking points. The Progressives are a minority caucus in the minority party.
Now if they’re saying “it’s not enough, it needs to be bigger or it will not work and we will not vote for it” than I’ll agree as the GOP can jump on saying “Even the President’s own party says it won’t work”.
Every time the Prez has proposed anything they come out and say it’s not good enough. They are just grandstanding. It has nothing to do with any strategy on their part. The jobs act is already middle of the road.
they shouldn’t complain about it. They should be all over the networks, radios or blogs selling the bill or they could repeat what Pres.Obama has been saying. I swear, Dems really don’t have a messaging problem, they have a teamwork problem.
I mean to say they know what the message is but they can’t seem to get passed their own self-interests. I know they care but they’ve been demanding a jobs, now they have it.
And always, President Obama not only has to deal with Repub opposition but Dem opposition as well. I think it’s nuts, especially given this obnoxious GOP which blocks Obama at every turn. A little help, friends, please.
And I had Thom Hartmann on the car radio today when he received the Repub talking points which went out to all their talking heads. They’re to refer to the Jobs Act as the “Obama Job Bill”. I guess Obama is the poisonous addition there, a la Obamacare, and it’s supposed to portray the jobs act as Obama’s winning re-election job bill.
No, they are doing it because they are all Hillary supporters and are being pushed by special interests!
That said, in the primaries, we can vote them all out!
They need to be replaced!!!
This is not a time for that. It’s past time for these damn Dems to put aside their egos and just get behind the President. Period. No more games from them either. As the President said this is about a win for the American people.
That’s my impression that they need to be better communitcators, particularily in such and intransigent enviornment.
Politics can really set my teeth on edge sometimes….actually most times
Thanks StR, I know you think things through very strategically.
Dems need to spend some time educating the public on just exactly WHY their ideas work. PBO does it all the time, but they all need to do it. They need to understand why in times like this only the government has the leverage to get things moving by spending. They need to explain it simply, so that everybody understands why they are saying the bill needs to be bigger. Yelling at the president is just a stunt for their own egos.
What is Working has links to all elected officials. Tell them what you posted here. It will make a difference. If WE don’t tell THEM who will?
Yep. I’m going to do tha. Thanks.
Thanks. I’m going to do that.
I think tomorrow I’ll focus my e-mails on the CBC and the Progressive Caucus……give my Congressional representatives a break, for tomorrow anyway. In addition to asking them to support the plan I am asking them to be more public in their promotion of it, and I’ll add your comments about educating the public as to how spending stimulates the economy. And not to malign the President in doing so.
Thanks everyone, appreciate the input.
Give me some names of these house Progressives so I can call or email them.
Send a message to the Grand Obstructionist Party: PASS THE BILL – STOP THE BULL!!
Love that message hgerhard!! pass the bill- stop the bull.
can I tweet that?
Go ahead and tweet – we need to take our message as far as we can.
CBO on PBO jobs plan
WAs Cantor waiting for the CBO report Africa? so what would the excuse will be now??
Wow! what a speech. He’s fighting hard, I wish the democratic party would fight like that in congress. I send a message this morning to the GOP now, I need to call the Democratic and tell them NO MORE OBAMA BASHING!
I have a serious question. I looked at the pictures of the school the President visited. WHERE THE HELL do they get the money to build a school like that? I worked in the inner city schools in Broward County as a school bookkeeper. We did NOT have the money to buy overhead projector bulbs in the school let alone get computers. Library audit two years ago was a FAIL. Libraries are required to have the reading material to support the curriculum. The books in my library were old, moldy, rotting, smelling, and just plain missing. I could not even purchase 1500.00 worth of books to remedy the problem.; Where do you go to get the money to help these students??
And you wonder why there is an education disparity in this country.
This school may have been rebuilt with help from the local businesses.
Hey, the school was built during the civil war and has just been renovated.. Did you hear the President speech in which he said he was happy that the school was being modernized.
My youngest daughter teaches at a state of the art public high school like that in Indy—–has everything known to man. I think it was paid for by a public/private partnership—-I know Eli Lilly has been generous there. It’s not as pretty on the outside as the one today, but it is fully equipped inside—-music room which would be the envy of any recording studio, ballet and dance rooms, computers in every classroom, even a tailoring class with sewing machines which do my daughter’s alterations, workout room with all the latest etc. There is a partnership that pays for an after school tutoring program with teachers available in all subjects, with entertainment and snacks and pays for the late bus rides home. My grandkids in Ct. attend a great neighborhood elementary school also with all the stuff—-the parents fight and fundraise for all the amenities. All kids should have great schools like these. All should be proud of their schools, and it’s our future that’s on the line.
Rob Zerban Is The First Wisconsin Democrat With A Chance To Beat Paul Ryan
Just the prospect of that happening makes me smile. Bye bye Eddie Munster !
Ryan has been asking for it.

Bachmann’s ‘Retardation’ Attack On Perry Spreads Vaccine Myth
Bachmann: Gardasil causes “mental retardation”
Shouldn’t you be reading more uplifting, heart warming stories? They are out there.
Bachmann’s vaccine doubts ‘dangerous and irresponsible’
To bad gopolitico didn’t say anything when she was saying all manner of outlandish things about the president of the country. To them I say bah
Oh mah gah. Look at this chart and scroll down to Huntsman: http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2011/09/13/poll-itics-sarah-palin-and-michele-bachmann-have-seen-their-scores-hit-new-lows/
Huntsman, the pride of the MSM. that score it too funny.
Seriously, a -1 ? oy!
After Helping Banks Water Down Dodd-Frank, Scott Brown Tries To Claim He’s A Wall Street Reformer
Facing possible Warren challenge, Brown burnishes image as Wall Street reformer
Wall Street Reformer my butt. Just show that video of him with the Koch brothers. nuff said.
Ha! Let’s see his donor lists. He’s the banksters favorite candidate.
Perry’s ‘Ponzi Scheme’ Kept 14 Million Seniors Out Of Poverty Last Year
That program that Perry deems inappropriate for the federal government, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, kept nearly 14 million seniors out of poverty last year, as well as 1.1 million children:
Wow the photos say it all. PBO does not like black people. /SNARK!
PASS THE MOFO BILL, CONGRESS!
From the photos, it is clear they don’t like him either.
But…. but… BUT…. He’s lost his AA base! Maxine Troubledwaters said it! And Tavis & Corney said he’s doing NOTHING for the AA community!…. SMH…..
All those cheering people! But some keep telling us that his popularity rating is in the trash. To hell with the firebaggers who are trying to depress voters.
CBO GIVES BOOST TO THE JOBS ACT:
So far in ten minutes, CNN has run three stories- one on those damn kids defaulting on student loans, another an anti-immigrant story and finally a anti Muslim story!
I gotta ask, is Roger ails now running CNN?
Now a story about terrorism to scare us! Lol! Unbelievable!
Did someone here say CNN cut away from PBO’s speech? As to who is running CNN, i think it’s the Koch brothers.
CNN has really taken an ugly turn. Who’s making the decisions there?
So glad I don’t watch and give them credibility or ratings.
I love it that he has the actual bill in his hands to show people! That is powerful stuff…..not just good abstract ideas, but a concrete bill.
Shutting down the government…….didn’t work very well for Newt and the Republicans……..that shows more than anything how tired and dead the R “ideas” are.
Great speech. I’m so glad to see all those people there supporting and showing love to him. Maybe the democratic party should learn from them.
Let them go down in flames! This is MY PRESIDENT! Call your congress critters:)
JUst wondering if the picture fox used wasn’t photoshopped, because the one in this thread had no clip on it.
CNN just said to expect another bus trip soon!
Who’s taking another bus trip? Palin?
No! The president!
Oh. I wonder where he’d go this time. I know he’s in NC on Friday, and is due in Cali – but that’s a fundraising trip and thus will be campaign funded and won’t risk using “The Monster” on that.
Maybe Georgia and Florida? Pennsylvania? Nevada-Arizona-NM southwest trek?
Just wanted to pop in and say hello to all TODers and report that the Teapublican debate tanked for CNN only 3.4M down from 5.7 that watched MSNBC’s debate. I guess the verdict is in, that no one wants to drink The poison Tea anymore.
That is 3.4 million to many drinking their koolaid.
It may have been 3.4M horror film fans!
Is there a link for that Me4obama? I’ve been trying to find a good link to pass that on elsewhere and I can’t come up with anything solid.
I’ve been reading TOD for weeks now and have enjoyed it immensely. It is nice to have a pro-Obama, troll-free place to read news, comments, and enjoy the pictures. I’ve even referred several of my friends over here to lurk.
I only have one “small” suggestion. Can people lighten up some on the OMG-type links? I was here last night also and read all the threads. I think It gives the appearance of concern trolling which I had enough of at places like the Dailykos (which is downright depressing to read now).
Otherwise, this is a delightful sight and I, for one, am enternally grateful to Chips for setting it up.
Carol, Chipsticks has asked over and over for users to stop it but for some reason they don’t respect Chipsticks and her requests. I personally suggest Chips put them on personal time out and revoke their rights until they stop.
I agree. I love this blog, but when the OMG’s get too much, I stay away for awhile. There is a belief here that all the negative must be reported in order to combat it. I cannot come to a conclusion about that, since it does not seem to effect change in the MSM, but I understand that POV. Regardless, I would prefer less OMG’s as well. Chips has tried to tamp down on it.
I agree with all of the comments. That stuff pulls me down and I take a break.
Welcome carolrptr. I agree, but I’ve learned to scroll past those posts once I sense the tenor of the comment.
Here is the new tool from OFA we can all use:
Thanks Jovie good to have this site!!
Interesting new site and accompanying hashtag #attachwatch http://www.attackwatch.com/ OFA site where you can get the facts to respond to lies and also report attacks against PBO in media, etc.
Alternative fuels to meet half of USAF needs by 2016!
This is wonderful!
That is awesome !
US retail sales up 1.3% from one week ago!
Been busy calling this afternoon. All 8 R reps in TN; Senator Alexander’s local office (because I have struck up a “relationship” with a young man named Keith). He got an emotional “ear full” but I wasn’t mean or disrespectful, just emotional…..shared lots of facts I had in front of me, etc. Told him I had just spoken with my next door neighbor this afternoon and she said she and her husband have decided they are going to vote straight Democratic ticket in every election–local, state and federal. I said “same for me and I’m betting there’s a lot more like us who aren’t being vocal.” If I do say so, I made a lot of good points with him and he was very nice……said I can call anytime. Then I called Boehner’s office; was on hold for almost 15 minutes and couldn’t wait any longer so called back and left a msg. Pass. The. Bill. as ONE package, no piecemeal. Then added that I found listening to the patriotic music (though is is beautiful music) insulting. Why? Because it is patriotic music and the Republicans are anything but patriots. If they were, it would be country first. Also called Reid’s and Pelosi’s office and stressed getting lots of Dems in front of every camera and microphone and do it every day.
You are smoking. Imma need gloves just to touch your arm -keep up the good work.
I too have been calling and passing out phone and fax numbers. I have also made copies of a sheet of paper with the words written large on it ‘pass the bill & get to work’ to everyone I know (and told them to pass it on) with fax numbers to send it too. I got tired being on hold on the phones. I wonder if they’re just leaving the phones off the hook. But faxes are another story. Would like to see their offices plastered with paper saying Pass the Bill –
off to do more…
That’s what I am talking about …..creative and effective approach! Kudos!
Thanks tnmtngirl. Good work!
Way to go! Kudos, pointing out the irony of his music selection was spot on!
Interesting article from Bob Cesca on the brilliant chess move by POTUS regarding the funding for this jobs bill. But shhhh don’t tell the loonies. He must have them so confused as to which way to go. This is probably one of many reasons why they have been uncharacteristically quiet (scattered) in their response so far. Well that and still waiting for Luntz to give them their new buzz words. lol
POTUS Pulls Another Rabbit out of his Hat:
The Republicans are growing a little worried about the mission they mandated to the “Super Committee” because the Obama Administration is now seeking to use that committee to pass the president’s jobs proposal. http://bit.ly/otD5Cr
Bob’s article is interesting. Funny if repugs are complaining about too much deficit reduction.
I’ve contact all my reps several times since Thursday, even the bloodless Pat (Ugh) Toomey, asking him to put the people of Pennsylvania above party politics, which is probably way beyond his understanding. I’ve also written to the Justice Department , asking what they were doing to combat all the voter suppression legislation being passed in the states. Wish a whole lot of people would start asking the Justice Department this. I’m starting to feel that Boner and his pals are over doing the craziness, like not funding FEMA after all the disasters and undermining the EPA and standing in the way of jobs legislation. Even the some of the loonies in the progressive caucus are sounding unhinged and then there is the Republican candidate freak show. If even a portion of this craziness starts to sink into public consciousness, PBS is going to seem like the only sane man in the United States. I am well into my sixties and I cannot remember in all these years a more totally lunatic and ineffective Congress, not has there been a sorrier group of presidential candidates. These people are starting to make General LaMay seem like Albert Einstein.
Now you are starting to hear those T-Republicans complain about the President’s jobs bill.
hee hee. 5000 at NC State tomorrow!
what a sexy President!!!
