Have you contacted Congress yet?
Pass. The. Bill.
What an absolutely awesome picture that is!
Yes it is!!!!!
Going to do my emails. MD folks are IN, but I’ll be emailing everyone else I can.
Yes! 3x already!
PASS THE BILL! Thanks so much for the contact link. We’re on it!
Yes. And I have tweeted Boner and Cantor and e-mailed MSM, as well.
I have, also.
Listening to you President Obama. I’ve been tweeting congressional information contacts so that it aides people in contacting their congressmembers be they democrats or republicans.
SenatorReid Senator Harry Reid
Starting momentarily, Reid staff to tweet on the senator’s behalf #AskReidTH
Chips, please delete. Sorry.
I meant to post that Harry Reid is beginning a Twitter town hall live feed here: http://democrats.senate.gov/askreid/ & #AskReidTH
This is why the GOP hates the EPA:
They fine companies and make them cleanup their shit, everyday! Lisa Jackson is probably the strictest EPA administrator we have ever had!
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are thousands of “Superfund” sites out there that should be cleanup but weren’t. The responsible parties disappeared under bankcruptcy and start up under another name.
To give you an idea of how bad things are, there are literally thousands of gasoline tanks buried all over this country where gas stations use to be plus fuel oil tanks that were abandon when people converted to gas.
Yes Yes & Yes: Fired up over here
Today I called both my senators and also my representative to support and pass AJA.
I love you Barack
I love you back…If you love me you got to help me pass this bill.
Pass. This. Bill.
Tweeted the Congressional contact list from WIW. Will do so multiple times.
Just saw on Twitter (from janieo) that Rep. Louis Gohmert just introduced his own “American Jobs Act” in the House, stealing the President’s title. These GOP are like children. Aren’t there some restrictions from using the title of an already circulating piece of legislation? So, now, when people say “pass the AJA”, the right wing can confuse the issue? They need to grow up.
It was never filed by a Democrat in the House so I guess the name was up for grabs.
No, because it has not been introduced yet! Gilbert introduced his, now the president will have to change the title if he wants it to come to the floor’
This is what people call a co*k block!
What the ??? Usually Nancy Pelosi is pretty quick. What happened ??
Oh my goodness, seriously? So completely childish of Gohmert. Is he in kindergarten or is he a member of congress?
They can change it to Working for America …or something, what a piece of shit Gohmert is, every time I hear him speak I think box of rocks!t
I’d just go for ‘The Real American Jobs Act’
I like that idea Chips!
Count me in – I’ve contacted my critters…and passed information onto friends and family on whom to contact in their various states. PASS THE BILL!
The GOP’s Genius Plan to Beat Obama in 2012
Republican state legislators in Pennsylvania are pushing a scheme that, if GOPers in other states follow their lead, could cause President Barack Obama to lose the 2012 election—not because of the vote count, but because of new rules. That’s not all: There’s no legal way for Democrats to stop them.
They’re desperate, and they’re going to try to steal this election from every possible angle.
I wish I hadn’t read that….I feel like vomiting, but at least I am aware.
How do we combat this?
This is atrocious! But it’s also quite revealing! They can’t defeat the Black guy fairly, so they change the rules. And these are people who claim to be Christians who love freedom and Democracy? As the President said today, please “give me a break!”
45 to 32 percent
Pass the bill
This looks like good news – health industry is launching a huge campaign to sign up the uninsured under “Obamacare”
Finally! It’s in their best interests, after all. NOT TO MENTION IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE WHO NEED HEALTH INSURANCE.
Once a day until the bill passes! When is the People’s march on Washington to corner these GOP/Tea Party yahoos?
That’s where I want to be…in the streets marching on Congress.
Called Sen. Barbara Boxer. She’s supportive (no surprise, as she sent out a petition requesting support for the bill.) Called my Rep. in the House. She’s supportive of the bill. Called my other Sen. Dianne Feinstein, her rep said she doesn’t have a stated position on the bill yet but he’d take my name and zip code and pass on the info to her.
California’s unemployment rate is higher than the national average but my Democratic Senator does not yet have an official position on the American Jobs Act of a Democratic President. Of course, this is the main reason that I am an Obamacrat first. I do not understand Democrats who “do not yet have a position” on creating jobs during a national job emergency.
I am certain (kinda) that she’ll come around but in the meantime I need a moment of Zen.
I’m with you, FiredUp. Feinstein’s response is disappointing, to say the least. I’m scouring Twitter and the internet for good news to cheer me up.
Then, read this again: http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/09/14/7760560-the-liberal-disaffection-myth
That article was a breath of fresh air because it’s in the public record for all to see. I suspect the White House pollsters have been aware of this for some time and just yawn at reports of massive losses within the base.
Independents are the most baffling of the political species because it’s hard to know which way they’re are going to break because they are not consistent and they wait until the last possible moment to indicate which way they’re going to vote.
They seem to favor bipartisanship now. Yet they could have cared less when W won independents. They seemed focused on deficits now. Indies didn’t care about that much in the Gore v. Bush matchup. I wouldn’t want to trade places with the Obama team as they try to appeal to the mixed-signals sending, often formerly Republican and consistently fickle (they’re already disgruntled with Boehner’s House) independents.
HELL FUCKING YES!!!
The thing that’s making me rage is the GOP-paid blog warriors are out in force today – posting comments on news sites. They’re so pathetic. Found one where it’s almost the same comment over and over, and they just changed their name.
So glad Randi is back from her vacation.
And I’m super PMS which is not helping.
I want to slap the stupid out some people.
Can we give you a list?
Way to go Fired up – thank you for sharing and taking the time to contact your rep.
Well done FiredUpInCA! I sent an e-mail to our courageous, No Nonsense, Sen. Boxer thanking her for her support of the Bill and for always having the President’s back. I also signed her petition. I sent a polite e-mail to Sen. Feinstein expressing my strong support for the bill and telling her that I am counting on her support. I have not yet received a reply. I tried to phone but the line was busy. Reading you comment I am really disappointed by Sen. Feinstein for not being a strong supporter. I also e-mailed my Representative, Susan Davis (CA-53). I have yet to hear back from her, but she is normally very strong in supporting labor and teachers and I am quite sure she will be on board supporting the President’s Jobs Bill.
Like you, ” I do not understand Democrats who “do not yet have a position” on creating jobs during a national job emergency.” But I am determined to keep putting pressure on Senator Feinstein so that she can be on board. I don’t know what her problem is, but she has never been a vocal supporter of President Obama.
Emailed and called both my Senators and my Congressman. Tweeted them too…
EVEN here in the land of the lost of Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison,& John Cornyn and sill write, tweet and call to no end.
emailed both my Senators and Congressman too. Got this reply back from my Republican Congressman:
Thank you for contacting me with your support for the American Jobs Act the President presented in his speech before a joint session of Congress. It is good to hear from you and I welcome the opportunity to respond with my thoughts on this important matter.
Like you, I want to get Americans back to work as soon as possible and set our economy back on a path towards positive growth. I look forward to working with the President on ideas where we can find common ground, such as incentives for hiring new employees through the offering of a payroll tax cut for employers and extending the payroll tax cut for employees which will put more money back in the pockets of hard working Americans. Reforming unemployment compensation to include a job training component is another potential area for compromise.
However, on the whole, the America Jobs Act is a $447 billion attempt to recycle a failed stimulus from two years ago with the addition of an even more damaging $467 billion tax increase on job creators. Two years ago, the Administration guaranteed if the stimulus bill passed, unemployment would stay below 8%. For the last 31 months, however, unemployment has average 9.4%. The first stimulus bill did not work in 2009 and there is no reliable data that guarantees it will be effective this time around.
I understand how many who support the President’s bill would focus on the benefits of spending on infrastructure and state education budgets. Similar to the first stimulus package, continuing to provide short term relief to state governments for temporary jobs does not remedy the underlying problem of forcing legislators to make the hard decisions necessary to balance their budgets. I firmly believe the federal government should work towards a balanced budget, and requiring the states to do the same is no small part of that effort.
In addition, in the President’s speech we learned he planned to pay for the bill by demanding that the Congressional Super Committee, which has an already daunting task of identifying $1.2 to $1.5 trillion in budget reductions, find additional savings to pay for the American Jobs Act. As you may know, I have previously expressed grave concerns about the potential failure of the Super Committee to find these significant cost savings which would result in an automatic $600 billion in defense spending cuts on top of the $350 billion signed into law by the President in the Budget Control Act of 2011.
If the Super Committee is unable to find additional savings, the $447 billion bill would be paid for with a previously mentioned $467 billion tax increases. This tax increase would fall squarely on the backs of job creators, the very same people we need to invest capital, expand their businesses, and begin rehiring those currently out of work. Rest assured, I will continue to support ideas for job growth and economic recovery that do not add to the deficit nor unwisely burden job creators.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. If you have any additional comments or concerns in the future, please feel free to contact me again.
Member of Congress
Duncan Hunter is officially a FUCKTARD. Anyone have his twitter address???? I intend to tell him how much he is LYING about the first stimulus and every fucking thing else.
He is indeed “a FUCKTARD,” Tally! He is following in the footsteps of his father. He lies repeatedly! I still have to learn this business of twitting, but you do find a way to twitt abou Duncan Hunter, you will do people in his district a great deal of good by exposing his lies. The problem of course is that the local media in San Diego, including the San Diego Union-Tribune, always give the Hunters a free pass when it comes to all their lies and corruption.
Carla – you need to WRITE HIM BACK and call him on his lies.
This has pissed me off so fucking much!!!
3.6 MILLION JOBS 2.9 PERMANENT ONES from the first stimulus is NOT FAILURE.
If the RICH created JOBS, **IN AMERICA**, we’d have the most vibrant economy on PLANET EARTH by now because these ridiculous non-tax-the-rich-&-corporation policies have been in place for OVER A DECADE. But we DO NOT. And THEY ARE FAIL.
FUCK YOU DUNCAN HUNTER.
I called my repub. rep again today. I will do it every day and my husband sends him e-mails.He’s begging for FEMA money but will stick to the party line for the Jobs bill.
I used the link above to contact my members of congress! thanks!
