President Obama greets supporters after speaking on his proposed American Job Act at North Carolina State University in Raleigh
Yes, he has. That’s why they all look soooooo sad!!
And Look! 45 Percent to 32 Percent
Pass the darn bill
hum . . .
FBI seizes items at home of former top aide to Gov. Walker
Love all the pictures but that first one is so sweet. The guy is practically hanging on to every word President Obama is saying. His rapt filled, intense demeanor is quite wonderful. To gauge his intensity, one sees that he went so far as to abandon his seat, get on his knees just to hear every word PBO says. I watched the speech live and students were pumped up. When PBO went to shake hands they just lunged at him in their excitement. I sincerely hope they carry that excitement forward and call their congressmembers and urge them to pass the AJA.
Me too, UT. One thing I’m beginning to take heart about is that the media, like the GOP tend to overreach. It becomes nauseating for folks. They have no balance, and that’s why I believe in my heart that with our hard work and support, PBO will make a liar out of all these folks.
His heart is in the right place, and I just believe he is the man for this job in this particular time of our lives.
I heard a young 26 year old interviewed on NPR this morning. They had talked to him shortly after President Obama was inaugurated, and he said he was optimistic and would spend his time going to school until the recession recovered. They went back to talk to the young man again today to see what he thinks now, two years later. He said he’s been going to the culinary institute in New York, just like he said he would. He’s still personally optimistic that he’ll be able to find work when he graduates in a little more than a year, and he’s still fairly optimistic about his own future. He mentioned that he thought the economy would have recovered by now – but generally was still optimistic.
The reporter even asked him how he manages to stay optimistic when all their news reports are about doom and gloom and so negative about the economy (I was shocked he phrased it this way). The young man said that he’s still got a lot of time and he’s using his current time wisely. I think the youth are going to be fine. They may not have paid attention during the mid-years, but they listen to the President, and they know who’s looking out for their futures.
Theo, To support your comment—NOBody loves PBO teehee!
Excellent – thanks for the support!
Thank God for the Internet and Blogs like this who reach friends and family on what’s the REAL truth about how much PBO has done and how much he and FLOTUS are much loved.
To be sure theo67, a lot of these young’uns have excellent b.s. filters. It’s essential to there survival in this day and age.
Yes, the President lost 8,000-9,000 youths today, alone:
He lost about 20k people today. I guess that’s why all those young people look so angry. Oh my!!!
After the speech the first girl he shook hands with said “I love you so much” if you watch the end of the CSPAN video, you can easily read her lips. One of those young people he lost.
They all love him. Think of all of the new voters that will come of age by 2012!
Debz we have to remeber that young people they are glu to potical cable they know wha’s going on at least
I see in my younger kidss and nephews and nicesin talking to them they say they never hear of RM,Ed, Blitzers
any of the so-call experts know shit about our kidds what I can tell they say Obama is a very SMART PRESIDENT.
check this out:
I saw this on twitter earlier. What I did not know is that 6 million people are eligible for Medicare and won’t sign up. wow!
No wonder the GOP wants to reapel Obamacare!! because OBAMACARES IS REALLY WORKING , and remember
the GOP keep saying that part of the problem of the deficit been high is because of the Obamacare wow, those guys
think we are a bunch of idiots.
I can’t stand when a pundit talks to 3 students that disapprove of the president and come to the generalization that my generation has turned our backs him and his administration. The same can be said with the elderly, Jews, African Americans, Hispanics, women, progressives and all other constituencies that vote for democratic causes.
They’ve probably talked to 30, and decided to report on the 3 negative ones. They are on a mission.
They are desperately trying to prove their “no one likes him” meme, but they are not going to be able to hide the truth for long. Look at that huge crowd today and the reception he received. This is just for a jobs bill, once the campaigning starts they will have to show the truth. I’m sure those 3 students aren’t going to run out to vote for Romney or Perry.
I’m sure we are all keeping in mind that the pundits don’t really have to even talk with “3 students” to put that out there.
The corporate media and the PL want to brainwash us, so we don’t gin up the votes or vote ourselves for PBO’s re-election.
And so we don’t keep our eye on Republicans. Just like the fact that, nationally, we weren’t keeping our eye on the overarching pattern – that now includes at least 38 states – to suppress votes by changing voter i.d. regulations.
Charlie Rangel helped that theme today—basically said unless there’s a nutty tea party candidate, African Americans won’t show up to vote for Obama. AAs are “disappointed” in Obama, he said, and have no enthusiasm for his re-election. Mind-boggling.
What a jealous, bitter old man.
LOL!! If AA’s showed up for his crooked behind they will show up for Pres. Obama who is doing the right thing everyday.
You took the words right out of my mouth. What kind of legacy is he leaving for his constituents in Harlem?
I’ll ask the same question of Rep. Rangel that I asked Rep. Cleaver: is this what your constituents actually said, or are you talking out of your ass? I love how these CBC clowns claim they speak for African-Americans but they sure as hell don’t speak for this one.
Because Obama would not come to his corrupt defense……Charlie Rangel can kiss my you know what. I pray people get rid of these no good Dems. They have not done a dam thing in years and what to blame the state of this nation on PBO. I am so glad PBO woke up the electorate. These people are just worthless…that include Maxine Waters and all the CBC.
Charlie Rangel’s twitter account is @cbrangel. I sent him a note already – please do so.
Is the RNC paying MSNBC today—–I’ve been in and out, but every single time I turn on the teevee, there is the most horrible Obama bashing going on. They used the NY election as some Big Sign to take off and run with the Obama’s Doom theme. Tweety began his show by saying that Obama’s re-election chances are “crumbling away”. Now he has on Fineman referencing Jon Stewart!!!!! as an indication that Obama is losing his supporters. Fineman said Stewart has turned on Obama “the last couple shows”. Where he has been? Stewart has been on an all anti-Obama all the time for at least a year. It gets worse. Now Tweet is quoting some Politico story about how awful and depressed the mood is in the WH—–”hopeless”. And then he said “It’s a bad night for the Democratic Party and the president.” I don’t know how you stop all this s__t. I’ve been fighting back every time I see something like this and I know thousands of others have too. But they do what they want, facts be damned. And people say not to watch, but I want to know what they’re saying. I think we have to keep track. The only good part is the majority of the country is not tuned in, they’re rushing Target’s website and stores to snap up the new Mussoni collection which sold out across the country within hours. That’s what made people get out of their slippers and put on their work boots—–to get to Target. Sad.
I did use the Target correlation myself. Many voters have the attention span of a gnat. Most working people, progressive or conservative, don’t watch MSNBC during the day, or even at night. When something “big” happens, like the takedown of bin Laden or when the President presented his jobs speech to the joint session of Congress, 30-56 MILLION people watch. I think all of the odds are in our favor … meaning, of course, the President’s favor.
As has been said, all of the President’s speeches around the country are being covered in local newspapers and their websites, which is where groups of people hear his message who aren’t watching cable news. Also in PBO’s favor.
I’ve been tuning in and out to MSNBC and once I figured out what their agenda was going to be today, I decided to save myself from the useless noise and watch cartoons and other comedic shows. Jon Stewart is a DOUCHEBAG of epic proportions. For the first time ever, I turned him off. When he began mocking President Obama and The American Jobs Act in an unhinged manner, I told myself, I’ve had enough for tonight. He was a disgusting pig. He knows that he’s viewed as a leftie and no one isn’t saying he can’t or shouldn’t criticize the President in a logical, thoughtful, and funny manner. For him to mock the AJA was just senseless and it gave rightwingers and the GOP Media another chance to play the meme 24/7 that “powerful” liberals are turning on President Obama. Stephen Colbert is a million times better that Stewart. He always speaks truth even while being funny. Stephen has always been impressive but from the beginning of the 2011 season he’s just been outstandingly phenomenal. he knows who, when, and how to mock and he realizes that 2012 is no joke so he doesn’t rabidly and senselessly attack President Obama like an unhinged emoprog. Stewart kept mocking President Obama for not being more “Shaft” like and governing in a boring manner. As though governing is supposed to be one big freaking concert. Who mocks a bill that is going to put millions of middle and working class folks to work and grow the economy?
As for the Target Missoni shop-a-thon, I prefer to see it as good news. It means that a lot of consumers nationwide have extra money to spend and that in turn stimulates the economy. I hope that they re-direct their money to more small businesses so that more people can be hired.
Stewart needs to remember that President Obama was in his “boring,” governing mode when he killed Bin Laden, passed healthcare, ended DADT, etc….
You need a break, UT. You’ve been steadily ingesting that GOP filth for weeks now. It’s bound to do some damage. Take a break and then lauch back in when you’ve gathered your strength. I enjoy your summaries, but not at the expense of your sanity!
Hahaha. Thanks Theo. I took a break today once I knew it was all going to be doom and gloom predictions about President Obama’s 2012 chances due to NY09. I’m just going to watch cartoons, Jeopardy! and other comedic shows like my delightful Colbert Report.
Great point. I really appreciated that Colbert made jokes about the bill from a conservative view and then brought on Krugman to basically endorse it. Stewart can go suck it. I changed the channel when he started in on that “where’s this guy been?” bull shit. Anyone paying attention would know that 99.999% of the things Pres. Obama said in his speech were things that he has been saying from day one.
Same here. I am literally shaking I’m so furious. WTF is up with MSNBC?? Chris is such a dick. Babbling away with Howard Fineman & whoever that woman was. At the same time showing PBO in Raleigh today.
So I briefly switch to CNN – big mistake. They were actually asking if PBO should even RUN for re-election! Not to mention all the insanity over the two special elections yesterday. I might as well start watching Fox! Screw these polls – how many people does anyone know that has ever been contacted? Off to give them a giant piece of my mind.
I used to like Jon Stewart. The sad thing is that I know many people that actually only watch him for the news? Seriously?? I have “friends” that are totally into Ron Paul. I gave up even trying. Fine, let them write him in, better for us anyway.
As far as the Target deal goes, I frequent a “deal” site cause they do have some good tips and current deals like at Target, Kohls, etc. The site even gets national media attention. Let me tell you, they’re looking for deals (aren’t we all), but many if not most of the posters spend like crazy. Hate to see their CC bills. But it still illustrates the point.
Ok, off to tweet, email, call all these channels and their hosts. AND the advertisers. Too bad I don’t drink anymore cause a couple cold ones would sure hit the spot right now.
Hey, quick thought, but it would be cool if someone creative here (which isn’t me unfortunately) could come up with a Twitter avatar for the “4 More 4 44″ slogan.
There are many of us who can’t stand to watch any more. Watch if you must, but it would be good to follow up with continued tweeting, e=mailing and calling them about their misinformation and blackouts. They still get your ratings point for watching, but the more they hear from their viewers who are willing to still watch them, the better.
I am as frustrated as you are Dot but I couldn’t help but my arse off with that Target thing
How are people rushing to sell out Mussoni when they’re all supposed to be terrified that the economy is going bust because of the “failed stimulus”? This is what gets me. The restaurants are packed. Airports are packed. Planes are overticketed. Mussoni selling out. But they keep telling us consumer confidence is down. Economy is tanking. etc. All lies. My own eyes see what’s happening.
My daughter works at a local Target, theo, where Missoni (?) was for sale in the store for the first time yesterday. She reported that the entire line sold out within minutes and reported that one woman brought her daughter into the store and bought over $1,000 of the product line. The store placed an order for more of the line yesterday, and she told me today that people were already calling to see if the new order had arrived. People ARE spending more money than even the MSM entertainers are reporting.
I hear the issue on MSNBC today. I hear the question of whether this means Obama is on the ropes. But every time I popped my head in to see what was happening on the tee vee, there was someone refuting the meme. There was someone saying that the district has been trending Republican, is not representative of the larger American electorate, that Israel and gay marriage were used as wedges.
And as a Jew, let me tell you that the insular nature of the Orthodox Jew is rabidly racist.
Although the question about the implications were asked, I’ve seen plenty of authoritative push back all day long.
Seems Gohmert pulled a fast one – he stole the name of the bill. Now the President will have to change his if it’s ever put on the floor. GOP could even vote on Gohmners “American Jobs Act” and they say “Congress – both Democrats and Republicans – strongly voted against the American Jobs Act”.
The GOP is playing games at the expense of American lives.
If this is true, it will be worked around.
Well since Louie’s bill doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of going anywhere, he can call it anything he wants. No one will confuse the two bills and I’m sure the Prez doesn’t care what congress chooses to call his bill either.
Why would Pres. Obama have to change the title of his bill?
So much hatred, it’s very disturbing lol
I know President Obama is a politician but he has the ”it” factor, he’s a star, that’s why he drives the haters so crazy, they will never get that away from him. It’s not something you can put in a bottle and sell. You either have it or you don’t.
That’s why people who are not blinded by hatred, racism, ideology or ignorance to cloud their judgment go crazy when they see him, in the States or abroad.
How can anyone not love this man? Do you know many people who can get this type of reaction from a crowd? Just look at the reception he had in Dublin for example.
He’s amazing, very unique and very gifted.
I just love the pictures, there’s the truth…..not what we hear in the RW media.
This is so true. I was looking at the lines from yesterday’s event, and I managed to log on to the local live stream before it began and saw people waiting patiently for a VERY long time, and cheering every time they saw something that brought them closer to President Obama. I even stood outside the White House for a VERY long time last year to catch a quick glimpse of Marine One overhead as he came back home from some trip – and there were many of us who were there waiting. I’ve never done that before for anyone, especially a politician. This man is much more than just a celebrity or politician – he’s just a genuinely good person who is doing an enormously big job in unbelievably difficult circumstances. The whole world is on his shoulders and we are living history, watching him work. Even David Letterman said he is thrilled just watching the President work. Anyone with half or even a quarter of a brain can see that this is a remarkable human being, and we are lucky to be witnessing this time.
He’s a star that’s still shining unlike their shero Sarah Palin.
What a rousing and enthusiastic welcome. Went to the Raliegh Newsobserver and left a comment, thanking them for their gracious welcome and their enthusiastic support. And reminded them to do their homework…..to contact their Congressional representatives and ask them to support this legislation.
How can Louis Gohmert appropriate the title of President Obama’s bill? Sorry folks, that dude is a nasty piece of work. Sorry that we have to suffer the likes of him.
Like everyone here, I hear a lot about this “disaffection” – people repeat it because they are bombarded with it every day. But what the pundits don’t understand is the fact that their “disillusionment”, “disappointment”, “unhappiness” are often expressed in reaction to the political gamesmanship that has taken over Washington and is not directed against the President. What people are disappointed about is the lack of responsibility on the part of the media who have created a circus atmosphere and on the part of politicians who are only trying to save their own positions and lack both courage and integrity, resulting in an inability of the political process to work. Of course, the consequence of these attitudes is an economy that has stalled and lots of people are hurt. They expect the President to act and may express frustration, but if you ask the follow up question, they will acknowledge that they see the process stymied by the President’s opponents.
I met a woman yesterday who had previously indicated her total lack of interest in getting involved with the President’s campaign. She seemed quite disaffected and mentioned that she had lost faith in all politicians. I asked her if she intended to vote next year. To my surprise she was almost angry at my suggestion that she would skip voting, having voted faithfully for almost 50 years. I asked her who she intended to vote for and she looked at me as though I was not quite there. “President Obama, of course” she said, “I’m not happy with what’s going on, but I couldn’t imagine voting for anyone else” and then she added, “Just don’t expect me to hold any signs”. I think she is quite typical of our “large disaffected base”. We have work to do, but our best resource is still our smart, compassionate and persuasive President.
The photo of the young Man Admiring the President brings tears to my eyes.
