swimming fool

Steve Benen: Lindsey Graham sure does sound confident about 2012: South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says the 2012 presidential election is the GOP’s to lose. “President Obama has done everything he knows how to do to beat himself,” Graham said on CNN’s “State of the Union….

Now, as I recall, Graham’s record of election predictions isn’t exactly sterling. A week before the 2008 election, Graham was in North Carolina touting John McCain’s chances:

“McCain fits North Carolina like a glove…. I’ll beat Michael Phelps in swimming before Barack Obama wins North Carolina.”

A week later, Obama won North Carolina.

Michael Phelps was unavailable for comment…..

What would you expect a Republican to say? The truth??????? They don’t know what the word mean. Ask Lindsey what is he willing to bet, since he is so sure.

When you said “…ask Lindsey what is he willing to bet, since he is so sure.” it reminded me of all the polls taken and how the MSM uses the polls to determine what should be done as if the people say something one moment that should be the measure to use for facts on the issue. If Lindsey says it it must be the truth. ..WTF!!!! Unusual fact finding method. Goes with the theory of not believing in science just whatever we think should be the way to determine the answer. GOP theory of if you say it it is so. Sad that the MSM goes with that theory too.

These loud mouths does not know anything and they are completely out of touch. They have passed their usefulness to America. 2012 will show them with them changing voter’s laws, spending billions of dollars, lying, stealing votes, etc. with not net a victory for the Republican party.

What language do you suppose Lindsey Graham imagines to himself he is speaking? As an early childhood educator, I am not at all certain it is English.

For the Republican (anti-government) Party, big government is just fine when it is executing people and interfering in women’s reproductive rights by restricting abortions.

    THE DEATH PENALTY DISCONNECT

    =============================

Given this, Dahlia Lithwick had a terrific piece the other day, noting that the right’s skepticism about government seems to have a special carve-out for death sentences.

Either you believe in government or you don’t.

The current field of Republican contenders for president are hard at work to prove they don’t. The best government, they insist, will leave you alone to repair your own ruptured kidney while your neighbors bring you casseroles and cigarettes. In recent weeks, leading Republicans have made plain they don’t believe in government-run health care (lo, even unto death). They don’t believe in inoculating children again HPV (lo, even unto death). They don’t believe in government-run disaster relief (ditto, re death), the minimum wage, Social Security, or the Federal Reserve. There is nothing, it seems — from protecting civil rights to safeguarding the environment — that big government bureaucracies can’t foul up.

But there is one exception: killing people. These same Republicans who are dubious of government’s ability to do anything right have an apparently bottomless faith in the capital-justice system. Everything is broken in America, they claim — except the machinery of death.

    Hey folks,
President Obama is trending 4th on Yahoo so far, so I clicked onto two “positive” articles about how he wants to tax millionaires, and his deficit reduction plan to keep him in the top trending. The articles are ok, a little less opinionated than others, but at least it might get some to think about how the President is for us not the GOP.

You would think that these yahoos would stop trying to second-guess our Beloved President. He is a master strategist and always one or more steps ahead of these idiots. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in those empty spaces between their ears and then I realize what I am dealing with. There are more for President Obama than against him and God has His Hand on him.

I learned from 2008 that Sean Quinn is one of the best reporters on the Primaries. Here’s a sample of his work from his blog that illustrates why Bachmann can’t beat Perry. His up close and personal comments about Marcus Bachmann are priceless: http://goo.gl/lnQx7

I have sent an Open Letter to Warren Buffett via twitter asking him and others to consider holding a press conference supporting the “Buffett Rule.”

What I would also like to see if it is within legal political purview, he and some of these same folks cut ads for TV, Radio, etc. These greedy stations will play the ads because all that matters to them is money!!

  11. September 18, 2011 at 1:16 pm

Graham is mad because he wants to stay on Iraq! Earlier this week, he said Iraq is a disaster!
Not only that, but the pentagon does not want anymore cuts, and are lobbying congresss hard!
This is just passive aggressive behavior!

How many times have you heard someone say “Oh, I’m not that into politics”? This really drives me crazy because every aspect of our lives is impacted by “politics”. The amount of taxes you pay, the quality of schools in your neighborhood, the quality of the water and air, the amount of crime, the quality of transportation, homelessness, on and on. So when I saw the post below, it was just what the doctor ordered. The next time I hear someone say they are not that into politics or they didn’t vote in the 2010 midterms, I will ask for their email address and send them this post.

100 Things You Can’t Complain About If You Don’t Care About Voting, Or If You Think Voting Is Unimportant

If you don’t vote, don’t complain, because voting effects a lot more than you realize.

    • September 18, 2011 at 2:01 pm

right on. Along the same lines, Rev. Joseph Lowery pointed out how politics /voting affects significant aspects of our daily living. He calls for the youth to get involved and be aware of what is happening in the system. The Reverend’s book is titled Singing the Lord’s Song in a Strange Land.” This book is insightful, humorous and full of wisdom. He was the great chaplain who delivered the benediction on Barack’s inauguration.

And why doesn’t he have any reaction to this? Because these folks are not people that he associates himself with (they are only HIS constituents, after all) They don’t feed his big money coffers. These are normal, everyday Americans. The ones he got votes from but refuses to think about now. WAKE UP. PEOPLE IN KENTUCKY!!! As far as he’s concerned, you are all on your own!

We are on the right side of history here. The Tea Party is a temper tantrum and we are the force creating the future. Keep that in mind, trust that President Obama and his team know politics and know their jobs and turn off the damn MSM. We’re going for Four More Years.

That’s the fighting spirit I came here to be part of!! Thanks!! I woke up this morning listening to NPR as I got dressed as I cannot stand to listen to my local progressive stations news. I was greeted with a lot of negative Obama news this morning as if I were on a totally different station. It is amazing how your spirits can be pulled down listening to that spin. I am uplifted by coming here and reading the articles highlighted. It just tells me we will have to work that much harder as the average person may be affected in a much stronger way listening to the hype day in and day out.

Phew! You scared me Chips! I thought this was gonna be about something slick Michael Phelps said about PBO which really would have disappointed me because I’m a Phelps fan and, if I remember correctly, he’s the progressive sort. Glad to see it’s just more asshattery from Daisy Graham.

  19. September 18, 2011 at 2:07 pm

graham is a fool, downright wrong. Does he even believe what he’s saying… In late Sep 2008, I was in Fairfax County, Virginia and there were huge signs in the freeway saying Virginia is McCain Country. Repubs acting like they already own VA. But at the Obama volunteer hq, the energy and enthusiasm was palpable, throbbing unnoticed like your heart. I thought then that Barack would win VA.

    Happy Sunday TOD’Fam.

Today’s Sunday Menu is Homemade Pizza, Honey Baked Ham, Steamed Cabbage, Roasted Potatoes and Homemade Key Lime Pie. (How blessed I am that my hubby loves to cook)

I’m sharing this meal virtually with all of you in appreciation for all that you do here everyday to motivate and inspire each of us to work our hearts out for the President’s reelection.

The Grassroots Fundraising Challenge has a new goal for me this weekend. My goal is to recruit three donors to the campaign this weekend. Will you donate $5.00 to my grassroots fundraising page today? CLICK HERE TO DONATE:http://bit.ly/qY8HD5

I remain #1 in number of donations and have climbed to #2 in dollar amount for my opportunity to receive a phone call from President Obama or VP Biden. I owe much of this to your generosity.

Hey Donna D4O, if you maintain both positions does it mean you will get two calls, one from PBO and one from VPJB? That would be suh-weet!  Good luck! A friend in Florida is supposed to be donating on my behalf (as a gift), so I’ll let you know when she lets me know that it’s been done. She didn’t say when she’d do it, but I have forwarded your page address to her.

Folks like Lindsey Graham will keep Obamanation and the administration on our toes. Let them continue to SPOUT ARROGANT and POMPOUS attitudes. It will be interesting to see how well they do with all their cheating, supression, and manipulating of our voting system. Continue to add fuel to our FIRE Teathugs.

That statement “The Republicans to lose” is interesting. That statement usually means complacency, and if that’s what the Republicans feel, good. They listen to themselves, they are an echo chamber, and are absolutely out of touch with the people, but that’s okay. We will work, and let their complacency bring them down.

OT: I just read on Twitterverse that Michael Moore wants Oprah to run for President…ROFLMAO!!! Sure Mr. Moore, sure…think Nader and all your friends on the PL would go for that?!?!

    • September 18, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Seems that he doesn’t know that Oprah is staunchly in PBO’s corner! I imagine that Oprah is laughing her behind off after reading Moore’s nonsense. He doesn’t seem to know that he just made one of the biggest jokes in 2011.

Who will ever forget her face at Grant Park on election night, leaning on the shoulder of a stranger, crying like her heart was breaking with happiness while waiting for the 44th President to come out onstage. Someone interviewed the man later, he said he had never met Oprah, and was so thrilled at that hour that Barack had won, he didn’t even realize it was Oprah!
