President Obama on Monday will deliver his deficit-reduction speech at 10:30 a.m. from the White House’s Rose Garden, according to an administration release.
Later on Monday, the president and First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to New York City for the UN General Assembly and a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings. While in New York, he’ll also deliver remarks at the Clinton Global Initiative. The president is scheduled to return to Washington on Wednesday.
Tuesday: Meeting the chairman of Libya’s governing council, and a high-level meeting on Libya; then, a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, one with Brazil’s president, and a session with Turkey’s prime minister to talk about Syria and Israel
Wednesday: Obama’s speech to the General Assembly to “address dramatic change” since last year’s meeting, like in South Sudan; then a meeting with Japan’s premier, a luncheon with the U.N. secretary general, a speech to the Clinton Global Initiative, a meeting with Britain’s David Cameron and then France’s Nicolas Sarkozy, and possibly a meeting with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu.

God Bless President Obama. . . It will be a tough road, but WE HAVE HIS BACK!
4 MORE FOR 44!!!!
Good Morning TOD’rs I am just catching up on what is going on in the blogs. I have been staying with some friends that needed some assistance. I have been lurking just not commenting.
Chips thank you for all you do to keep us informed. Have a great Sunday.
Morning Roberta, have a perfect day!
I am now addicted to Twitter!
Retweeted a tweet (hope I am saying all of this correctly) and got a response back from Jake Tapper. The tweet was about the media blackout for the Wall Street protest yesterday. His (stupid) response was that the assignment desk did not know about this. I replied that how can they not know! There were 50,000 people shouting and you could not hear it?
You are on Twitter for G-ds sake! If it were the 5 tea-baggers you would be all over it! I have not gotten another response!
Morning Marlz!
“The assignment desk did not know about this”?!?!
That’s beyond belief – if it’s true, he should be embarrassed to admit it. Amazing.
Good Morning Chips. . . I know its not true. This has been all over the blogs about the protest and he is on twitter. This is just proof of not only the low information followers, but the low information journalists!
I am glad that I have an education and not having to depend on these losers!
Good morning Chips….yes that is beyond belief and no self respecting news org should admit it. Sadly, with lack of resources a lot of “news” reporting today depends on press releases. Still, this was Wall Street…in NYC, the media capital of US! They knew about…if not before hand, at least while it was going on…
Oh, Ms Chips I tweeted you an article about “Obama winning cap and trade war” with new SPA regs
Thank you mb32! I haven’t signed in to Twitter for a few days so I’ll check that out – thanks again.
No problem…that was supposed to be EPA regs…I hope the environmentalist give him credit but I suspect we’ll hear crickets from some of them
I don’t accept the lack of resources excuse. It is intentional. Advertisers don’t want this to be a story. Corporate media only kowtows to corporate interests, period.
What I mean by lack of resources is lack personnel…media orgs were hit hard during recession. In my division of our publishing co., we lost every editor below managing editor…now the people who are left are expected to push out 3 print mags as well as continuously update the websites…sometimes we miss stuff. I’m really not trying to excuse Tapper and the rest of MSM…cause I’m sure they have more resources than we do as a b2b…plus this story should have been hard to miss especially for NY based media…but this lack of resources is a real concern for many media orgs…
See mb32, I would have been a lot more sympathetic to the “lack of resources” explanation if it weren’t for the fact that the same supposedly “under-resourced” media devotes TIME, HUMANPOWER and resources to reporting every hate-filled Tweet from Sarah Palin, every 50-person strong Teabag rally in the backwoods of Kentucky, Michelle Obama’s 1700 calorie meal at a fast-food chain, etc… as long as an event, however trivial, can be used to attack the President and not the Republicans, the media can certainly find the time and resources to do so.
Jake Tapper can spend his time defending Sarah Palin, but cannot report on an important and relevant event of concern to the country? Please, I’m sorry but I refuse to buy that explanation.
I can’t disagree with you on that…what they are going after is the low hanging fruit-it doesn’t take a lot of research or time to write plus it meets their corporate aka Koch agenda and they know they are going to get a gazillion clicks but it lessens the credibility of journalism. It’s a shame and a real problem as is the lack of resources for many orgs
I haven’t seen that 50,000 number confirmed. Saw a couple of tweets that said otherwise. Thousands maybe but not 50,000. I could be wrong but whatever the number Jake Tapper is lying. They’ve covered tea party protests w/10 people present. why don’t they know about people protesting Wall Street?
It just goes to prove what we think of Jake Tapper is true. He is not worth dog doo. Let it had been something negative concern President Obama and Tapper would have had it all over ABC News. He’s a sorry no good bastard.
The NYT reports ~ 1000. Even so, the media reported Michelle Bachman’s400 person strong campaign in CA, and they have reported in great detail just about every TeaKKKlan rally in the backwoods of Iowa and elsewhere from 5-500 persons strong. Surely, they could report on 1000 people in the financial capital of the US/World!!!
Morning everyone!! Marlz, I am addicted, too.
But regarding Tapper, he actually is telling a bald face lie. They’ve covered t-partiers when it was a hand full of people outnumbered by camera men.
Go figure.
Martz….why don’t you Tweet Tapper’s BOSSES now, and ask THEM why they didn’t know about the Wall St protests (still going on as I read…they aren’t leaving)Tell them TAPPER didn’t report because he said you (the boss) didn’t know about it! What kind of journalists do they employ?? And why do they waste money employing people that don’t report THE NEWS!
Hey Ardent Obama Supporter, now following you on twitter.. Can say this much about Tapper, at least he responds to his taunting tweets, which he excels at. Obama supporters gave him an ear full over his Obama/Palin Smear Equating Tweet: All the folks rightly upset about the unfounded smears against POTUS are all surely just as upset about the ones against Palin, right? I say keep it up, continue to challenge these blowhards who insist on taking the same ridiculous on-air media fail to the twitterverse.
Good morning Chipsticks. Have a wonderful Sunday!
You too Halo!
morning TOD family
these idiots on ABC will talk about another “book” blasting the White House for being a “hostile workplace to women”
This is the same PBO who’s appointed more women and minorities in his administration. You wonder how far these people won;t go to mae a buck of him.
PBO is lucrative business for lots of people.
Good morning TOD friends. So now they are trying to discredit PBO with women voters. They are going after one group at a time. PBO is to respectful of others to allow hostility in the WH. If it is happening, I am sure he is not aware. What next????
makes you wonder why all of these women are still working there doesn’t it? hell Clinton was sitting in the Situation Room when they were getting OBL. I can’t help but think they are trying to make it as if the black man sitting in the Oval Office since this is the stereotype assigned to black men is treating the women badly
Today young people are the target. In AP’s every day march to tamp down enthusiasm with every core group of supporters, today it is waning support among young people. They’ve already tried to make that same case with African American voters, Hispanic voters, yesterday it was women voters. None of their assertions held much water, if any. Today’s young voter story made no sense either. It was about College Republicans running ads about the “hope” and “change” which their candidates represent. There’s change, alright, a nightmare change. And their featured “disappointed” college voters said they would vote for Obama again, except a Ron Paul voter and a Huntsman voter, who are both polling at about 1%. Again, no perspective offered. No reporting about 25,000 showing up for 5000 tickets on college campuses where Obama appears, the loud supportive crowds there etc. And I think recent polls show Obama getting about the same support as in 2008. And if Repubs think young people are going to be voting for their candidates who are anti-educ., anti-sci., anti-climate change, anti-gay, anti-middle class, they’re dreaming.

Yawn. They getting desperate.
It’s possible Anita Dunn and Christina Romer said a couple of comments out of frustration at their colleagues. I would bet Larry Sumners and Peter Orzak have a bit of an ego and are not the best listeners. However, those comments are beeing blown out of proportion and used against President Obama. Wanna bet that these women are quite embarrased right now that they’re being used as an instrument against a man who has personnaly been very respectful to them and to women in general?
I was just thinking the same thing. I bet it’s more about the atmosphere with Larry Summers. I still wish they would have waited to talk with journalists, especially Anita Dunn, who is a communications specialist and should know very well what happens with words once they leave your mouth and fall into the hands of MSM.
Anita Dunn eexplicitly DENIED that she said the WH was disrespectful towards women. She also qauestioned Suskind’s negative spin on the administration’s general functioning.
/// “Dunn denied to the Post that she made the remark, adding: ‘The president is someone who when he goes home at night he goes home to a house full of very strong women. He values having strong women around him.’ ///
And she also dismissed the nonsense about the supposed “dissension” among Cabinet members:
///” In an interview today with the Post, Dunn takes issue with Suskind’s depiction of the White House.
‘It’s a place where there is vigorous discussion back and forth. At various times people have issues with their colleagues, but we were united. I’ve been very clear that this is a president who values a diverse set of voices on every issue,’ she said.”///
I am not going to link to the RW source this but it’s in the UK DailyMail and on the googles if you are interested.
Thanks Hopefruit for bring us this from the horses mouth. It smelled of “spin” to me.
And I might add that if the biggest “dirt” you can find on an administration is some dissension among the economic policy team regarding an extremely complex issue of repairing an structurally damaged domestic and global economy in an internationally competitive environment, then that actually speaks volumes for the high-level functioning of an administration that actually works!!
The fact that Suskind needed to embellish his book with questionable reports about supposed mistreatment of female cabinet members suggests a desperation on his part to make his “information” seem more relevant and appealing than it actually is. He’s clearly trying to manufacture outrage among PBO’s large base of female supporters. But anyone woman who REALLY knows this President can readily dismiss the drivel that comes from Suskind’s book.
It seems to me the same old thing of if they can’t find a drama they are manufacturing one. What I have noticed is this administration seems to be full of very competent people with varied opinions and has not had corruption issues as has previous administrations. It would be a shame to replace these hard working Americans with another back to the same GOP cronyism, incompetent, corrupt people making up the administration team.
What ? Who is the author of nonsense ?
some susking asshole
suskind/susking I don’t know . . .
don’t remember Bush clearing bush with Condi or golfing with her
as for Clinton we know wtf he did with 1 of them and it wasn’t his wife
Susking,Suskind…whatever – he suck!!
Ron Suskind? He wrote a book about Bush and used to write for the Wall St. Journal. I’d place him in the Bob Woodward club.
thanks for the 411 Meta
Are they JOKING???????????? This man and THIS WH has shown the most respect for women in my lifetime! That doesn’t make sense on its face! They’ve all gone nuts.
This is funny. . .
BorowitzReport Andy Borowitz
With 9% unemployment, Republican hopefuls are seeking the endorsement of someone whose catchphrase is “You’re fired.
Hahahaha.
Whoa. Busy week ahead for PBO.
//begin rant
Just look at President Obama’s schedule since getting back from vacation. Dealing with Libya, an earthquake, hurricane Irene, a joint session of congress to introduce the American Jobs Act, on the road in (Richmond, Virginia), (Columbus, Ohio), (Raleigh, North Carolina), medal of honor, Hispanic Caucus event, and now he is off to the United Nations, On top of that, I think he will be speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative.
Think about that…….. I certainly hope President Obama had some time this weekend to enjoy his beautiful family.
And the feckless media stenographers were too happy to obsessively report on the ‘OPTICS” of President Obama taking a WORKING VACATION in Martha’s Vineyard. You can just image that they were working tirelessly on the roll out of the AJA. Our energizer bunny president works harder and any president or elected politician I have ever seen (Democrat or Republican). And he is effective and he gets things done. The nonsense about vacation optics is just outrageous. And it really looks petty and stupid when you consider how how President Obama is working for the American people in just the last couple of weeks.
//end rant
His schedule is breathtaking. Any other president before him would have be hailed for his work ethic. Yet all we get from a few loud bloviators is how “weak” he is. Even as the evidence shows otherwise, they continue to sell the kaka to the few sheep that will follow them and hang on to their every word.
History will not be kind to a bunch of people after PBO. Personally, I will never let them forget. The Internet is full of their lies and distortions.
Good morning, TODville!! Hope your Sunday is relaxing and enjoyable!!
I’m really looking forward to PBO’s demonstration of leadership once again at the UN General Assembly. There’s a lot to iron out with Karzai, Cameron, Sarkozy, Erdogan, the new NTC of Libya Mustafa Abdel Jalil, new Prime Minister Noda of Japan and maybe Netanyahu. Unbelievable!
This is truly the leader/thinker of the WORLD!!!!!!!!
I see upthread that you’re addicted to twitter now!! It’s easy, isn’t it?! I’ll follow you.
Jake Tapper is making a career out of being a smart ass drama queen. He’s disrespectful to everyone and is always getting his feelings hurt. I challenged him a lot on twitter and he blocked me. He’s a real jerk who’s being promoted more and more by abc. Not surprising.
For a lot of these guys who are quick to spout foolishness, they are so thin-skinned. A whole bunch of them are like that.
I have this theory that people who don’t know what they’re talking about are very thin-skinned and cannot take criticism. That’s why PBO insists that people who disagree with him come forward and express themselves. He’s confident in his knowledge but welcomes a challenge to learn and strengthen his ideas. I LOVE this about him. It’s what makes him strong and compassionate.
Bingo. You nailed it.
YUP!
hey bobfr i got your follow this morning on the tweets! yay! So I was playing a bit of catchup (always do – you’re so wicked fast chips). I’m glad that someone started talking about the protest on wallstreet I bumped into it out in Twitterland and thought – “huh? what’s this?” but wasn’t seeing anything else about it – then had to go to work again.
does anyone know if the sunday news shows are paying any attention to Axelrod’s memo?
Just a head’s up///Political Carnival notes that Tavis will be on Colbert Report on Thursday for all of you that want to Tweet him:)
He must be pimping a book.
Good Morning Chips and TOD Family. Thanks Chips for our haven of knowledge and conversations. I hope all of you will have a great Sunday. Love you all.HZ
So far i believe it is Looking VERY good for Our Incredible President, He just has to keep up the fight and not weiver once. Stand and Stay Strong, the majority of the American people Love and Support You Mr. President.
