Hopefully this shuts the CBC up with their ranting and raving about how PBO supposedly is not paying attention to the struggles that black America faces, but I won’t be holding my breath.

This is an awesome presentation on EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. Go Lisa, Go Lisa. An outstanding public servant doing exemplary work for the American people.

I have to pinch myself sometimes. I can’t believe I am lucky enough to be living in the age of President Obama. It is just remarkable to witness the most brilliant politician of our time.

Ladyhawke, that is how I feel everyday that I have been given grace to wake up and see this great President work like no other in my lifetime. I feel an honor that makes me weep with joy and blessings each day of my life. I worked so hard to teach students that this could happen to them, if they studied hard, listened to me and others, and to keep working for something better each day. I pray that they are watching and doing what so many of them had the ability to accomplish the same great things in life. What a joy to see him as our President.HZ

I’m going to be 50 next June, and in my politically-active life I can never recall a President of the United States that has been more concerned with the trials and tribulations of the average American. Never. Not even close. Not close for African-Americans, not close for struggling White middle-class people, not close for immigrants, not close for poor Whites, poor Blacks, poor Latinos, poor Asians. This man is the greatest voice for people on the “outside,” EVER, in American history. Having lived in Illinois when he was emerging as a political force, I knew this all along. Glad the rest of the country can experience it now.

I am with you, 100%, Ladyhawke! Just to be provincial, I am just so grateful that President Obama, and his incredible family were the first to represent the Black community in the presidency. I too count my self lucky for having lived to witness two incredible events that I never imagined will take place in my life time: First, the ending of Apartheid in SA, followed by the election of that other Black giant, Nelson Mandela, as the first Black President of SA. Second, the election of President Obama, who is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant politicians this country has ever had. Small and petty people can complain all they want, for me I am lucky to be able to witness greatness. I am sure that even those who hate him must privately concede his brilliance.

Okay, this sounds mean-spirited and bad but….. I wish there had been a better way for PBO to spend his Saturday night. First because he’s always so busy it would have been cool for him to have the night off. Secondly, because he’s wasting his valuable time of all corrupt people….the CBC.
    ps- Miche looks banging!!!!

    • September 24, 2011 at 8:33 pm

Is it just me or does the event seem not that well organized. PBO deserves better.
      Michelle looks AMAZING.

      • September 24, 2011 at 8:35 pm

It’s not just you. It totally feels/looks/sounds like Amateur Hour at the CBC and that bland introduction was ridiculous.

        • September 24, 2011 at 8:39 pm

I’ve heard mic checks in the church basement sound more exciting. That was so sorry..and yes, disrespectful. I can’t believe the CBC has the nerve to hem and haw and then when it’s time to show up for the world they act like they’re doing HIM a favor instead of the other way around.

        • September 24, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Seriously! It seems like they have all these top tier guests but have no idea how to pay proper RESPECT.

No matter, PBO is talking about what’s important, at last. HE IS THE MAN.

      • September 24, 2011 at 9:17 pm

No, It’s not you. It’s not well organized :-(

    • September 25, 2011 at 11:57 am

First off no one here is a ‘tea bagger’. Secondly if you listened to POTUS’s entire speech then you will note that he not only addressed the concerns of the CBC, but also addressed how he has responded to those issues over these 3 years of his administration. My question is what has Maxine Waters done? How does getting up all over teevee bashing POTUS HELP the CBC’s cause? How does getting on tv attacking the President’s Jobs bill help Black folks across this nation? What is her bill? What is her solution? Is she on your tv attacking the GOP members of Congress? Her co-workers? POTUS has SOLID accomplishments that have helped the entire country- which includes black folks and the freaking tea baggers, he however does not have the ability to turn back time, nor the ability to fix whats been broken for a multitude of years in a mere 3 years.. but he has implemented ways to stem the bleeding and is trying dang hard to create solutions to very long term issues in this country. So I’d like to know why is it that he has to ask a room full of grown ups to get on board? Why is it that every damn thing he attempts to do to HELP is met with a reason for one or another ‘supporter’ to find their face on tv attacking him? What the hell good does that do the black community exactly? Why isn’t Maxine Waters ‘unleashing’ her fire on the GOP? Why isn’t Maxine Waters and Tavis Smiley and Cornel West ‘unleashing’ on the multiple obstacles in POTUS’s way- In OUR WAY? Why isn’t every single unemployed person in this country being made aware of whats in the jobs plan by their Reps? Why aren’t these reps asking their constituencies to CALL The GOP members.. why isn’t Waters, et al up in arms about John Boehner? Its just too dang easy to stand in the Chorus and whine on teevvee that POTUS is the bad guy.. when theres a whole bloody congress acting like their hands are tied, acting like their job is to complain to the President on national tv. B effing S.

“The danger is that when Blacks see the President hobnobbing with whites and feeling their pain, they don’t see him doing the same in their community. All we get is a “shut up” and quit complaining. Come November, a lot will just not show up to the ballot box and we’ll see if Jews, gays and the professional left can get the President re-elected.”

This is not remotely a danger. Not by a long shot.

Black people know this is the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. They knew before he was elected and afterward that this economy would take a long time to turn around. They knew that he would face unprecedented resistance. Black people know that the economic downturn has hit black people disproportionately since the beginning of time and did not think that electing a black President would translate into near-full employment among black people overnight.

The fact is all of the items that the President listed have helped black people but I would remind you that these employment trends have been in place for as long as the CBC has. What have they done for black people lately at the local level for the constituents they represent? Holding a job fair in 2011 that yielded few jobs is not exactly a Marshall Plan to put black people back to work.

The answer is not in bashing the CBC and it certainly isn’t useful at all for the CBC to bash the most powerful person with so far the best plan to put a lot of people to work. jobs are the answer. Period.

The private sector is sitting on $2.05 trillion dollars that they acquired under a decade of favorable tax rates. They are in the midst of a capital strike and refusing to hire until, they claim, there is more certainty from Washington and the market. There is no more certainty to provide. The debt ceiling matter is settled. That is certain. The House is in GOP control. That is certain. Taxes are as low as the were under Eisenhower. That is certain.

There is only so much the President and the CBC can do when you have a powerful economic segment of the population willing to crush the rest of the country until they extract every concession they can.

Neither the CBC, nor the President are the bad guys here. Corporations in the midst of a capital strike are. So it does no good for the CBC to aim their acerbic rhetoric at the President and he is right to say ‘back up, we’re in the middle of a once-in-generation, near-Depression and I’m not the one holding jobs hostage. Get real, get off me and get to work. Bashing me is not the work that needs to be done to get black people hired.’

As i watched PBO and thought about the venom that came from the CBC, the actions by the CBC, Smiley, West, et.al. These were fo foretold by Black leaders all the way back to 1915. PBO’s election has somehow or other compromised certain individuals in the CBC.
So to get your mojo back, you attack the perceived cause of it’s lost.

“We must realize that our greatest enemies are not those on the outside, but those in our midst. When we recognize the enemies on the outside, and do not allow them to pass. Then we have those on the inside working with us to destroy us, without our knowing”—–MARCUS GARVEY

Thanks for sharing these quotes. They reminded me of what Dr. John Henrik Clarke, a great historian, and one of my heroes, said when Black folks in the 70′s and early 80′s were fighting over socialism, nationalism, and integration. He said that Black folks have been out of power for so long that they really didn’t know what to do once they got close to the “promised land” of power. Instead of unifying and confidently assuming power, the would get to the door of the “promised land” of power and then start arguing “whether to cross with the right foot or the left foot.” Here we are with a brilliant Black President, the first in history, who is doing all he can to turn around this horrible economy he inherited, while at the same he is facing the most vicious opposition that has ever been faced by any other president, and the only response from members of CBC, and privileged people like West and Smiley, can come up with is to say that President Obama is not doing enough? instead of “picking up the mop” to help clean up the mess he inherited, all they can do is complain about how he is not cleaning up the mess quick enough. By the way, these people were there when the mess was created by Bush and the Republicans. Yet we saw no Smiley/West “poverty bus tours,” or constant t.v. appearances by CBC members blasting President Bush and the Republican congress.

          • September 25, 2011 at 1:34 am

True but it’s interesting to note that Marcus Garvey was circa 1915. This tells me that quite a few AA will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming into this century.

    • September 24, 2011 at 8:55 pm

The old timers should know better than anyone the struggles and hardships of black folks. it has never been easy and I know my folks never sat around complaining about what somebody else was or was not doing. No PBO should not have to roll up in the joint and deliver a message to the CBC, a group that has been in existence for decades. But they have been living in a time warp and bubble of corruption and black privilege. They have become LACKIDASICAL, and the Black President had to ask them to put on their marching boots, stop complaining, and do their fucking jobs.

Call banked today in the state of Florida…we have over 11,000 active volunteers. The college democrats are very active this coming election. I will tell you that after volunteering in 2007-08….we did NOT have this kind of organization this early. I remember being one of maybe 30 volunteers in two counties…Broward and Palm Beach. This state will NOT elect another Republican in 2012.

SS and Medicare have strong support. No drilling off our beaches or in the Everglades is also huge.

Florida is Fired up and Ready to Go! I had one mom that asked if she could bring her children as young as 9 to call, canvass and register voters. Education is a huge priority to the parents here. Rick Scott has killed education in this state. Broward is now going to have to break the Constitution on class size in order to function this year and next.

There is absolutely NO REASON that every single person in the CBC is not doing everything in their power to help President Obama. The fact that we have had Waters and Cleaver and others stabbing him in the back is just infuriating. He is our champion and theirs. It’s time for the CBC to cut the crap and rally behind President Obama. He is being brutally honest with them. Who’s side are they on???

    • 171 nathkatun7
      September 25, 2011 at 1:43 am

AMEN! You are absolutely right, Ladyhawke! Time for CBC to tell us whose side they are on. How come Senator Barbara Boxer, here in California, can send out a petition asking us to support the President’s AJB, but we hear absolutely nothing from Maxine Waters and the CBC? Is Maxine Waters urging his constituents to call, fax, e-mail, twitt, and write to members of Congress to urge them to pass the Jobs bill? If members of CBC are so concerned about Jobs why aren’t they out there mobilizing the AA community to pressure Congress to pass the President’s Jobs Bill? Instead, they are out there asking AA community to “unleash” them to attack President Obama. What’s wrong with this picture?

DOUBLE AMEN! Do members of CBC not realize the forces that have been mobilized — from day one of Obama’s presidency — by the right wingers, the MSM, and the so called progressives, to ensure that this first Black president is deemed a failure? How come the vast majority of Black people, unlike SOME members of CBC, are able see through the racist games being played by the forces arrayed against this President?

We just have to make it go viral some how. It’s just too awesome.

Since the joint session of congress and the introduction of the American Jobs Act, President Obama has turned a fire hose on the GOP. He has been mopping the floor with them. They can’t catch their breath.

He gave them a detailed plan for the AJA and deficit reduction. He provided amazing supporting documentation on the whitehouse.gov website. He has gotten positive feedback from experts, governors, mayors, and the business community. He took the AJA on the road to Richmond Virgiana, Columbus Ohio, Raleigh North Carolina, Cincinnati Ohio. He has been in their face for weeks now and calling them out by name.

The best part is that he is on the right side of the issue. The American people are overwhelmingly with him on what he wants to do. The Republican Party looks like petty little children. All they have is NO REGULATIONS, NO TAXES. That’s it. They got nothin to offer the American people.

I’m loving more and more that 42 and 44 played golf today. The photos will be like a smack in the face to Rs, and also will show the PUMAs that there’s a new guy in town! And the President name-dropped his golf partner Bill Clinton’s name, for extra measure.

PBO mentioned that the people in the room have a heart! That progress for us has come slowly! We’ve had faith, that good kind of crazy that says you can’t stop marching! Even when it looks like there’s no way, you find a way, you can’t stop. We know the rightness of our cause.

Well, he just summarized the sameness between those who fought the good fight for civil rights, like John Lewis, and himself – since he fights everybody in the whole country, it seems, just to do his good work as President!

“I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself!” And he just told the CBC to stop crying, and press on!

  90. September 24, 2011 at 9:02 pm

“AND HE DID IT TO THEIR FACES!!!!!! Prez O. walks in, stands before them all and says what needs to be said!”

Well said, vcprezofan2. Truth be told, this is not the first time this President, who is falsely accused of not having courage, has done this. He did it to the Republicans when they invited him to address their Congressional Caucus. Any one notice they’ve never invited him back? He did it again when he slammed Paul Ryan’s misguided effort to privatize SS and to replace Medicare with vouchers. He did that when Ryan was sitting there right in front of him. Unlike the cowards who attack him behind his back when they appear on television, President Obama never backbites any one. When he has something to say to his adversaries he says it to their faces. Like you, “I love the honesty and integrity of THIS PRESIDENT!”

Well, LadyTNT, you were not alone. I am a sixty plus old man and I was almost in tears! The sincerity of President Obama really shone through his speech. Here is a man who is trying to use all his political skills, in the most hostile environment I’ve seen in my lifetime, and yet all he hears from Black members of Congress, and self important people like West, Smiley and so called media pundits, is some more piling on. I’ve listened to almost all the President’s speeches and he is always very focused on his mission. Yes, I am just as determined as ever to “PRESS ON.” I wish all selfish, and self important people, who crave attention will wake up and realize what’s at stake: We must re-elect President Obama if we want to see this country continue to progress.

  106. 295 globalcitizenlinda

Yes, as President Obama said: “stop the whinning!!!! I do not have time to feel sorry for my self, …. I have to keep pressing on”

Do you hear that Obama-doubters, haters and eternal complainers (I am looking at you Tavis Smiley, Cornell West, Maxine Walters, James Carville, CBC and other democratic backstabbers in and out of congress, Obama=haters from the left anf right wing)????

I felt like I was in church listening to my pastor. We know what hard times is, we’ve faced them all our life, but we as a people got through not because we went running to the white man ( Maxine Waters, Tavis Smiley, Corney West) and turn on each other, but we held together to keep fighting on, pressing on. There are stumbling blocks in President Obama’s way and instead of attacking the stumbling blocks , Waters and others decides to go after the President. Waters and the rest of the CBC know dam well what the T- Republicans are up too. They are the enemy, and we ought to be fighting against them, not going after the President. Bless you Mr. President and First Lady Michelle. We here still support you 100%.

I am with you, Meta! The President was clear, energetic, passionate and, as always, fearless in telling the Truth! Nothing he said tonight was not true about the long term experience of Black people, the dire circumstances currently facing black people in particular, and the entire country as a whole, and, the programs he has implemented, and is trying to implement to ease the suffering, in the face of the most vicious opposition, aided and abated by the MSM, the PL media and the right wing media. Once again, I feel vindicated for my passionate support of this President!

  132. September 24, 2011 at 9:27 pm

It really is amazing and exasperating when you think about it. Black people have come through slavery, lynching, Jim Crow, Civil Rights, Katrina and more, and you have black members of Congress going on tv and bitching and whining about the first black president of the United States.

These crybabies have been sitting in Congress collecting government money and perks for term after term, on their cushy behinds. They saw the teabaggers come into Congress and they must have known they were bringing trouble, and they must have known that the teabagging movement is basically a racist, radical movement born out of a backlash to the election of Barack Obama.

So what do they do when the teabaggers start carrying out their slash and destroy mission? Do they come up with a strategy? Do they come up with a vision? Do they even stay strong in silent support? NO! They feed right into the enemies’ hands and run right to the cameras like weak, silly cowards. Harriet, WEB, Booker and Martin couldn’t have saved them — they would have run to massa.

They are so used to not having to WORK in Congress and collecting the crumbs thrown their way, that having to actually justify their record is driving them to bitch and moan and take it out on PBO. Just lost. Blind leading the blind. And they’ll probably still be whining come next week. They don’t know any other way. The only way to change it is to replace them with fresher, hungrier, smarter people. People who are ready to fight.

Get on board, or get out the way!

    • September 24, 2011 at 9:35 pm

you nailed it all PJ… I don’t expect them to get quiet.. I suspect they’ll be right back on tv next week whining. But POTUS let it be known he ain’t playing around with anyone.. he’s got work to do, grab a mop & help or get outta the way.

Too right – and when the GOP started launching their attack on voting rights and unions, why didn’t they spend their energy calling them out, and encouraging people to register as quickly as they could? They have done more damage by demoralizing the minority populations, lying to them that the President has done nothing for them. And now, they do bus tours demanding that the President use specific words, like that’s going to counteract the effects of their own destructive actions. They needed a smackdown. And they got it.

Preach it…..so true. They act like all was fine in the AA community until PBO came to town. AA unemployment has always been twice that of whites, when we were losing good jobs, the CBC did nothing, they cheered on Bill Clinton when he took away many of the safety nets for the poor, when unions were being attached they stood by and did nothing. When GWB attacked education, they stood by and did nothing. Now they want to go on “Poverty Tours” in the AA community like it’s something new. Bunch of hypocrites. They better not ask me for any money. Thank God Al Sharpton is a voice in the media that will support this president.

SPEAK TRUTH, PJ! It’s really amazing to see these members of Congress who clearly know the complexity of the structure of American government behave like this. Why are they all of a sudden joining the teabageers, the privileged holier than thou PL progressives, racist right wing Radio, and the shameless MSM that caters to Republicans, in pilling on President Obama? Do they really think the President can wave a magic wand to force Congress to enact legislations that will instantly end unemployment in the AA communities? Why not mobilize the AA community to put pressure on Congress and the MS media?

And of course Arianna HuffnFluff has NOTHING about this can of whoopass PBO has served on her blog. She has threads about Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, birthers, and of course a negative hit thread on PBO involving his poll numbers.

And these professional left chuckleheads wonder why PBO doesn’t give them the time of day, because they spend too much time crying and complaining about him to warrant their attention.

PBO needs to continue to use the bully pulpit to not only smack down the Republicans, but also these clowns on the professional left. If they cry and bitch, TOO BAD!!!!! Reverend Al has plenty of Kleenex he can send them to wipe their crocodile tears with.

QUIT CRYING, QUIT COMPLAINING, AND PRESS ON!!!!

It’s not even under her “Black Voices” section?

      • September 24, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Nope, but there was this thread about FLOTUS, albeit in the lower middle right of the page:

        http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/20/michelle-obama-un-general-assembly-2011_n_971721.html?ir=Black%20Voices

The contempt and jealousy that Arianna and the other professional left have for this President is obvious. Whenever PBO uses the bully pulpit, there’s NOTHING about it on these professional left blogs. But whenever he’s in the Oval Office working, there’s always a thread with a big negative headline about how PBO has lost his base, how he’s a sellout, or whatever snake oil the professional left want to peddle.

While PBO was speaking primarily to the CBC for their crying and whining, he was also speaking to the professional left for their crying and whining. That’s also why I suspect that Arianna has NOTHING about this speech PBO gave to the CBC: she’s way too thin skinned.

What is so baffling about the CBC crybabies is that their success is tied to President Obama’s success. So exactly what is the point and how is it helpful for them to be going off the reservation and attacking THIS PRESIDENT.?

The CNC couldn’t get arrested in the George W. Bush administration. They were non entities. What do they think will happen with a Romney or Perry administration? So we get the first black president and the CBC thinks he should have special programs just for the AA community. Apparently, they were not listening to the speech he gave the night he was elected. He said he was going to president for all Americans, even those who did not vote for him.

    September 24, 2011 at 9:40 pm

This is the mistake people always make : they invite him to their lair hoping to intimidate and get him to cower or apologize….remember how he cleaned the GOP clock at their congressional summit last year.
Maxine Waters and Cleaver have been feeling smug all the while they’ve been on their PhD (pull-him-down) missions across the cable networks….but PBO slapped that smugness of their faces and kicked their negro behinds back to reality tonight!. Was he FIRED UP!!??.
He was hyped, speaking from somewhere so deep that you could hear it in his voice and facial expressions…and he had to slap that lectern at the end for good measure…the equivalent of dropping the mic and walking away!.
I think he was pained that he had to come to CBC of all places to school them on all the achievements of his administration as they affect the AA community specifically, because they should know better.
The best part of the speech was the last 2 minutes….gonna see it again tonight!. The most poignant for me was the ….”I’m not gonna feel sorry for myself..” : …” stop crying, stop complaining….take of your bedroom slippers and put on your marching shoes…” Just brilliant!!!

      • September 24, 2011 at 10:48 pm

Oh. It was when Paul Ryan brought out his deficit reduction plan that basically called for the end of Medicare, Medicaid and SS as we know them. PBO invited The Twerp to a speech he was giving at Washington University ( I could be wrong about the locale) and basically ripped Widdle Paulie’s plan to shreads!!! It was fricking hilarious because Widdle Paulie accepted the invitation thinking he had backed PBO in a corner and PBO was gonna be all conciliatory and accepting. Imagine his great shock when PBO called out the Repugs plan to demolish our social compact with the middle class?! and there began PBO’s populous message about the nature and the promise of the social compact. In the speech he was like: “why should we ask the elderly to pay $6400 more in order from people like me to get a $200,000 in tax break?!” PBO tore the Gross Old Pricks the heck up with that speech.

    • September 24, 2011 at 9:55 pm

The professional left are projecting their weaknesses onto PBO. The professional left (Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore, Tavis Smiley, Cornell West, Ed Shultz, Glenn Greenwald, Jane Hamsher, Adam Greene, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Cenk Uygar, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich) are so damned weak at getting THEIR message out and they want to blame THAT on PBO. They do NOT take their case to the American people, they just rant and rave and collect million dollar paychecks… no different from the propagandists on Fox!

There are other names I might have included, but I would rather defer to your brilliant selection. So, TRUTH OR DARE: Who among the people you listed is courageous and strong enough to challenge President Obama? I say to all the people you listed: Step right up folks! Show us your courage in challenging the weak President Obama. Please don’t tell us that you are looking for another candidate. If you are so certain that you know what needs to be done, and how to go about accomplishing the pure progressive agenda you advocate, then it’s time to step up and show us how it’s done. Otherwise, your relentless attacks on President Obama is cowardly. It’s patently obvious that your attacks on President Obama have absolutely nothing to do with improving the conditions of the oppressed. Rather, they seem to be aimed at creating deep divisions within the Democratic party. It is no secret a deeply divided Democratic party would certainly guarantee the election of a right wing teabag-Republican. If that’s you goal, then have the guts to say so!

Arianna Huffington: For Voters to Believe Obama’s Second Term Will Bring About Change, He Needs to Acknowledge What Needs to Change in Himself

“While Obama’s ideas about the changes the system needs in his second term are welcome and necessary, there is another kind of change he needs to talk about if he is to be believed. He needs to make clear the changes he intends to make in himself.”

WHAT… THE… HELL?!!! Changes in himself? President Obama should be happy being who he is, and shouldn’t change to impress the likes of Arianna HuffnFluff.

And this is why the professional left are so DAMNED WEAK at getting their message across, they focus on character and NOT substance. I swear, President Obama should do a meeting in front of these professional left just like he did the CBC and bitch slap sense into them like he did this evening at the CBC, but they’d rant and rave about him attacking them… BOO FRICKEN HOO!!!!

        September 24, 2011 at 10:47 pm

I totally agree with you. The more she speaks, the more it seems that in reality she has NEVER quit the republican party.. Arianna claims to fight “for the people” but if you look at her life style, her choices, the way she conducts business, the way she treats her employees, and people in general…..She doesn’t LIVE the values she claims to believe in.

She’s friends with Newt, with Darrell Issa, ( one of the worst crooks in Congress!!!!) . Her vendetta against Sumners and Geitner was so over the top that’s when I began to SERIOUSLY wonder WHO she was working for, or with…She has given a platform to some of the worst propagandists of the republican theology. And when President Obama seems to get back some momentum, right on cue she comes in quickly and tries to undermine him. The signs are becoming really obvious.

And she likes Huntsman ???!!!!! A candidate who approves of Paul Ryan’s economic ideas ??!!!! Ha !! Mrs “oh the poor and the middle class are getting screwed” likes Huntsman ??? Now if it doesn’t prove she’s no democrat, nothing will.

For the record, I have these suspicions only about Arianna. I think Cenk, Ed, Markos and others are simply ego-driven, authoritian in their thinking, and very poor listeners.

This President is more than any of us deserves. He has much he could feel sorry for himself about but he just shakes it off – rolls up his sleeves and keeps on going. He is so ready for his next 4 years and all I can say is we are gonna see CHANGE like we can not believe. He is scary good and we don’t deserve him but I am glad we have him!!!!! I am ready and I will fight for this man all the way !!!

My goodness! I laid down to take a nap for a couple of hours not knowing that President Obama was going to speak tonight and I wake up to my cell phone blowing up with messages about President Obama’s speech. This speech only confirms what I’ve been thinking for a long time. President Obama had to keep his cool and try to get as much done as possible i.e. heath care, consumer protection bill, black farmers bill, student loan bill, DADT, and many other bills passed. Now he’s able to go on the attack the way he wants to. Unfortunately the CBC didn’t understand what his strategy was, now they do.

Here, here! Just clicked for my 3rd listen of the night! THIS is what the whole nation needs to hear. A message for the moment. Not who just won a damn straw poll, but of a President who fights for his countrymen and women. C’mon have we EVER had a leader with this much passion and determination in the face of such adversity? Do I even need to ask?

bwaaah @ ‘this negro is living my dream’.

I’m telling you, if this speech —this very direct, ‘no need to read between the lines’–speech doesn’t corral the caucus together as a united front behind this President, then they need to have their cards revoked. Seriously. They act like all this unemployment and AA strife is brand new.

  172. September 24, 2011 at 10:36 pm

To the whining crybaby caucus (black, white or green) I hope they heard the President LOUD and CLEAR. Stop crying and whining and get to work. Half of the folks who have been in Congress 20, 30 40 years have been bringing home a paycheck and doing little for it. For those stupid people in the Professional Left and their minions, I hope they finally understand why the President HAD to attempt compromise when he entered office. He couldn’t come in with guns blazing. NOW he can say in all honesty how he ATTEMPTED time and time again to work with, compromise with the opposition, only to be rebuked at every turn. NOW the gloves are all the way off and the President WILL CONTINUE TO WORK. He is the SAME President he’s always been. It’s the clueless people who haven’t understood his strategy/

    To The Twitter Brigade.

The Sunday Shows gasbags need to be hammered with the facts tomorrow that the Republican Party is yet again holding the country hostage because they want to KILL JOBS in order fund FEMA. The media needs to be held to account for reporting the facts. The GOP has had THREE HOSTAGE TAKING BITES at the apple since taking the majority in the house. The budget, the debt limit and now the CR is their last gasp. But the media is shielding the GOP obstruction from the public. This is an outrage. They need to be exposed. Tell the media to do their job. Stop carrying water for the GOP and TELL THE TRUTH.

REPUBLICANS KICK THEIR OBSTRUCTION INTO FULL THROTTLE IN ORDER TO PREVENT JOB CREATION

    =================================================================

Media pundits and commentators are unwilling to accuse Republicans of sabotage or criminal hostage-taking, but this author is not. Republicans have deliberately sabotaged the economy to portray the Obama Administration as ineffective and in the process are destroying what is left of the economy. There is not one instance of Republicans doing anything that will have a positive effect on the economy, but they have done everything to kill jobs. Their Draconian spending cuts and deficit reduction schemes will never create one job and are responsible for millions of Americans losing their jobs. When Democrats sought to restrict outsourcing of American jobs, Republicans blocked the legislation, and they blocked tax incentives for small businesses that hired new employees. The Republicans are undoubtedly making every attempt to send the economy into a full-scale depression by keeping Americans poor and unemployed while raising middle-class’s taxes and giving them to the wealthiest Americans.

A little ‘blast from the past’ :)

“I do get angry but it tends to be a controlled anger. … I tend to be very steady, but, what I don’t do, and I think this will also be confirmed, is .. I don’t like people trying to take advantage of that. … This is why, if you watch any of my political interactions, I’m always best as a counter-puncher. You know, if somebody comes at me, I will knock em out. If not, then I will try to understand their point of view, and that actually serves me well. I give people the benefit of the doubt, I try to understand their point of view. If I perceive that people are trying to take advantage of that, then I will crush them (laughter) .. That was just a joke… sort of, kind of ..” (laughter)

At the end of his speech and with a quick flick of his wrist, President Obama’s slap on the podium was a signal to all of us that know the deal. Those of you that don’t know what that slap signified are lost. You don’t learn that slap in school, or on the playground, or anywhere that hasn’t known struggle. There was only one place for President Obama to deliver that podium slap for full effectiveness, and trust me that slap was heard in every barbershop, church, nail salon and laundry mat.

    • September 24, 2011 at 11:20 pm

I came to the party late, but thanks Chips for the videos. PBO basically told the CBC to STFU and get to work. I loved it. When he slapped the lectern at the end, it was like, “Take that you backstabbers, I’m done with you!” Does anyone know if Maxine and her wig were there? As I have often said, I do not know why people keep trying to mess with him, and why is it that after all this time they still do not know that he will take them down if they keep at it? From cardinals at Notre Dame, to Paul Ryan, to Donald Trump; from a room full of republicans at their own summit to Osama bin Laden, he has faced them down in their own territory and destroyed them. Each time that he vanquished his enemies, he immediately pressed on to the work at hand. He crushed them as effortlessly as he crushed that fly. This is a formidable man. The CBC should have known better. Well, they got told and everyone will soon know about it.

Hey lexusv, I noticed that too. I thought it was funny. I showed the picture to my husband last night and told him how it looked like The Ole Reverend was channeling old man Fred Sanford and just trying to remember the ’60s . . . :) The President likes and respects Rev.
