Genesis 12:1-4. President Obama will always protect Israel from their enemies. I’m so proud of him and his speech to the United Nations was one of his best. God bless our President, our County and our closest friend, Israel.
His speech per say wasn’t about 100% protecting Israel. Israel and Palestine have their faults. His point was that both parties have to stop acting in an immature manner and come to the table to resolve this burdensome, tiring conflict. Poll after poll shows that young Israelis want the conflict to be over. They want Netanyahu to negotiate a peace settlement with Abbas. Netanyahu is being an obnoxious brat and Abbas has got to cut the cord with Hamas if he wants to be taken seriously. The U.S. protects Israel and Palestine so as to reduce the level of conflict there and PBO’s point was that if they both don’t want to alienate and isolate themselves from the international community, they should both better straighten up and act like adults. Israel isn’t necessarily our closest friend or ally; we have many close allies around the globe.
Thank you for your opinion, I stand by my facts.
Have a Blessed Day. :-)
Thank you for your views, I stand by my facts. Israel is surrounded by enemies who wish to destroy them, aint gone happen, so why does Abbas continue the charade with the terrorist group hamas.
Have a blessed day.
What about the Palestinian people Lorraine, don’t they deserve peace, security and statehood too?
I’m thinking about your question and trying to respond. I think if the Palestinian people stop terrorizing Israel and act like human beings, of course they do. Several things should happen. If they get a statehood it should be demilitarized, hamas should be exiled from the region and the Palestinians MUST accept Israel, completely period, no further discussion.
Israel has also been “terrorizing” Palestine by continuing to build more and more settlements in the West Bank even after being told to halt construction as it only creates more conflict. This is not a black and white clear cut picture and Israel is certainly not 100% innocent in this conflict and they certainly haven’t acted like “human beings” on mnay occasions. Palestine deserves the right to statehood just as Israel deserves reassurance that they won’t be threatened. Both sides have to come to the table and stop acting in an immature manner. Palestine isn’t 100% to blame. They both share the blame.
The Palestinian people are ‘human beings’, Lorraine – it’s that kind of dehumanizing of them that makes the whole debate so ugly. I doubt very much if every single Palestinian supports ‘terrorizing’ Israel, so it’s hardly fair to paint them all with the same brush. I’m guessing you wouldn’t like if a foreigner made an assumption that every American was a Teabagger? Israel and Palestine deserve peace, security and justice – how can you not agree with that? And while Israel has suffered endless pain at the hands of terrorists it’s also true to say that the Palestinians have been a brutalised people for much of their history. A homeless people, too. Until they get justice, and until their leaders recognize the state of Israel, there will be no peace at all. Both sides have to give here, as in any conflict.
Absolutely spot on Chips and UT…
That’s exactly how I interpreted the speech too UT, hopefully in the not too distant future there will peace and justice for both Israel and Palestine.
he has always been on the side of Israel
Chips, someone on another thread commented on the right pane of the blog stating how nice the layout was, well I have to agree “GREAT JOB”!
Ah, thank you bjw! I’m still working on it, trying to make it better with useful links, etc – but we’re getting there! Thanks again ;-)
Yeah, but what do the people in Israel know. The domestic critics here have said he hate Israelis and by darn they know best.
