Good morning My TOD family, I guess you have all the HUGE victory our By standing President accomplished today. Anwar Al- walaki the number one Terrorist was killed in Yemen. Thank you GW Bush it’s all because of u.
Rev Al is just fantastic. That was an excellent segment exposing the hypocrisy of Smiley & West and Troubled Waters. Bottom line, they don’t speak for the entire AA community. They have never been on board with President Obama. So who cares what they think right now.
I fell out when Rev Al went to the James Brown lyrics of Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing to end the segment. That was awesome…..
Like a dull knife that just ain’t cuttin’
We’re just talkin’ a lot and sayin’ nothing
Just sayin’ nothing, what, sayin’ nothing
I just love myself some Rev. Al. I’ve even got my Mom and sister watching him. Let us see if the witch Maxine Waters have the guts to show up on Rev. Al show.?
Really, people like Tavis, Maxine, and Cornell, makes me feel ashame. They make me drop and lower my head, when I hear them . They’ve got a LOTTA nerve! I don’t like umm umh, no way, I don’t like their kind of talk.
LadyHawke, I loved the way he ended that segment with James Brown lyrics! I hope he continues to do so! Say It Loud!
YES.WE.CAN, Again…Obama/Biden 2012!
I so appreciate seeing this interview. Both of these gentlemen hit so many important points and spoke with such clarity and wisdom. These are difficult conversations to have. What I like is that our President is making all of us look within and ask the difficult questions of ourselves. All of us are cleaning house in a way to be prepared to meet his challenge to change the world for the better in whatever way we can. Everyone is included in this call to become the best we can be. These are very important times, my friends.
eh I did it again, my comment went away, forgot to sign in.. again.
Anyhoo I wanted to say -cuphalffull- your comment is so wonderful.. we are truly living in amazing times with President Obama at the helm.. and the conversation by Rev Al & Rep Cummings was honesty- something rarely seen on tv anymore.. more of this and Americans may actually wise up.
I love this. My grandson wanted to know what was happening. I was cheering and I just said FINALLY, someone is speaking for me on tv. Thanks to Rev. Al and my congressman, thank you both.
I don’t want to overstep my boundaries here, but it is my thinking that some old school African Americans are more comfortable with a white person in charge. It’s their normal. It’s why some never supported Obama, even in the beginning. You would think that Obama rising to this level, the highest position in the country, in the world, would be the ultimate in achieving the goal of being judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin. And you would think that all in the black community would support this amazing and lofty achievement with all their hearts and souls, would see that they too have a vested interest in his success.
I’m sure no one here considers you overstepping, dotster. Seems we all agree with you in everything you’ve just said. You certainly spoke for me
oh no, everything you said is absolutely correct. I still marvel at the fact that he won the presidency. It wasn’t too long ago that I was saying to myself that I would not see a Black president in my lifetime. No here we are and he is kicking ass!
Yeah, I hear what you’re saying *dotster*, but these are supposedly educated old school African Americans. LOOK, It’s time to BE educated Tavis, Maxine and Cornell! Like Really, how do you sound????????
Dotster3, I posted a long rant that included the point you’re making. You’ll find it on the “Crybaby Caucus” thread from a few days ago. Read it and tell me what you think.
YOU ARE SO CORRECT…SOME BLACK FOLK STILL DWELL IN THE MASTERS HOUSE MENTALITY….MEANING ONLY THE WHITE MAN CAN LEAD…AND ITS SO SAD. THIS IS WHY IM MOST PROUD WHEN OUR PRESIDENT SPEAKS TO YOUNG PEOPLE.THEY ARE NOT CAUGHT UP IN THE UGLINESS OF THE PAST…THEY WILL ONE DAY LEAD THE NATION AND THE WORLD. IN HOPES OF CONTINUEING THE TASK OF FORMING A MORE PERFECT UNION HERE IN THE USA AND ABROAD!!!!
I agree with you totally!
Thank you Mr. Sharpton. Excellent analysis and I appreciate that he specifically showed video of the hypocrites. More in the media need to follow suit.
dotster3, I think it has more to do with being self proclaimed ‘keepers of thegate’. They see their influence slipping when someone dares to get ahead without paying proper homage. Read that ‘butt kissing’.
they would accept anyone regardless of color who played according to their rules.
It’s not about race it’s about percieved power.
Got it in one Lunar Sea.
Rev Al just speaks truth every freaking day and I thank him for it.
I think this is a conversation that we have all needed to have, that was inevitable once president Obama was elected. It’s painful, but I think it is necessary and good to get it out in the open. We all hurt for him, but he is not naive. He is the right person for this time, and he is on the right side of history, and to be this person is difficult, as others have experienced: MLK, Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony…name them! Whenever we elected our first AA president, this would have happened. Something similar would have happened if Hillary had been elected, the first woman, though more coded and hidden. The power establishment just can’t stand it, and won’t give up power gracefully. The winds of change are definitely blowing, and that is distressing to any powerful people. I have quoted Justsice Brandeis several times: “Sunlight is the best antiseptic” This whole feeling has been bubbling underneath the surface in our country…..both white and AA, and has been festering. We have lanced a boil….the healing will begin.
THIS PRESIDENT IS TAKING A BEATING FOR THOSE WHO WILL FOLLOW…I SO RESPECT AND HONOR HIM!!!!
#44 TOOK DOWN THE LAST FOR WHITE ONLY SIGN WHEN HE AND HIS FAMILY ENTERED THE WHITEHOUSE JAN20,2009.
AND THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO JUST CANT GET PAST THE FACT THAT WHITE SUPREMACY IS OVER AS WE ONCE KNEW IT!!!!
IT TOOK COURAGE TO DO WHAT THIS SKINNY KID WITH FUNNY NAME DID…ALL I CAN SAY IS STRENGTH AND HONOR SIR!!!
AND I INTEND TO PRESS ON….OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
LYNN: SUCH GREAT SENTIMENT IN YOUR POST… I FEEL E X A C T L Y AS YOU DO… THIS AMAZING HUMAN BEING HAS HAD THE CRAP BEATEN OUT OF HIM, FIGURATIVELY, BUT HE JUST KEEPS ON KEEPIN’ ON… AND OH HOW I LOVE AND RESPECT HIM FOR DOING SO… HE FIGHTS TIRELESSLY, CEASELESSLY, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US…WE SHOULD ALL BE HUMBLED THAT SUCH A MAN WOULD EVEN ACCEPT SUCH A JOB!!!!!!!! Thank you for all you do…and Thank Chipsticks for providing us this sacred place where we can collectively heal and help heal the nation and the world…
I wonder what percentage of African Americans in water’s district support her and what percentage support the President. I have gut feeling that more support the President. Having that information should put a lid on her continual complaining.
Herman Cain’s remarks in that clip reminds me of my friend’s husband who said Black people believe everything Pres. Obama tells them. He’s also Black but he seems to think he’s more enlightened than the rest of us. Mind you now, in a conversation from long ago, he was trying to convince me that the Alex Jones “documentary” on Pres.Obama being selected by The Bilderbergers to bring about one world order was true. I mean this guy is a true conspiracy theorist and I’M the gullible one?
Unfortunately, though they would deny it, there are still Black people who, because persistant and insidious stereotyping, believe (maybe unconsciously) that White people are smarter and will do a better job than a Black person. Bigoted White people believe this…look at the crap President Obama is continually taking from them. Smiley, Waters and West and the like, for all their so called intellect, fall right into this same game of disrespect and as someone here pointed out, are the kind of people Harriet Tubman would have shot. Add into the mix their enormous egos, pettiness, and overwhelming jealousy and you get an outdated “poor peoples bus tour” that none of them ever thought of doing before. Why? The Black community has been discriminated against, shut out and under-employed FOREVER. Where have your balls been all this time?
But here is the truth family…Barack Obama is the Truth to the lies that have been told forever about Black men in this country. He is brilliant, educated, high character, morally upright, forward thinking, steady…shall I go on? He’s exposed the LIE to the world. That’s why I want to slap the shit out of those who question his Blackness because they are buying into the lie that is continually being told to them by bigoted White folks about how we should behave as Black people.
Actually I think those people who are criticising President Obama and was never on his side to begin with and it’s due in part to their feeling that he’s not one of them. His parents didn’t experienced the Civil Rights movement. He’s not a descendant of slavery and one part of his parent is not from America. The other part is white and he was raised by his white grandparents. They also thinks that his background of growing up in Hawaii and living in Indonesia doesn’t match their background. He’s achieved much more in his career and is more educated then even the professor, that they don’t feel he’s one of them. They can’t connect. They’ve tried, they’ve called him “brother” but they don’t really feel it.
So the professor, the congress woman, and the media personality, would rather an all American white President, than a half black, exotic, not from the hood president. They also feel that Clinton connected with them much better than a president who doesn’t feel the need to suck up. President Obama has a very closed knit of friends and he doesn’t need to cowtow to the likes of those personalities I mentioned before. They don’t understand why they’re not in the inner circle and somehow feels they are entilttled to. Perhapes they were important to Clinton, but they haven’t made the same kind of relationship with Obama and they resent him for it.
“So the professor, the congress woman, and the media personality, would rather an all American white President, than a half black, exotic, not from the hood president.”
See, this is exactly what fries me…the assumption that we all (Black people) come from the same experience! These people know better than that. Being from “the hood” doesn’t make one any “blacker” than one that raised in the suburbs. And just because someone grew up with a different or less difficult experience doesn’t mean they can’t embrace or truly emphasize or fight for those that did. This is a no brainer to me. Hell, look at Che Guevara(sp)…he grew up in priviledge and look at the path his life took.
I have searched but have not heard smiley, west, or waters criticizing the comments of cain. Where is their outrage?
Claire you won’t hear them say anything because their problem is with President Obama. It’s personal.
Well, all right Al; pardon me, Reverend Al!
I have watched all 3 Republican debates and not once have they mentioned the AA community.
They figure it won’t do them any good to talk about us since we are all brain washed. I heard this guy say that 70% of white folks for the south vote for white candidates, I plan to email the pizza man and ask him are the white folks brain washed?
