President Obama talks with retiring Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen during a ‘Change of Office’ Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ceremony at Ft. Myer in Arlington
President Barack Obama hugs Deborah Mullen, wife of outgoing Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen
Hahaha Chips; great minds think alike. I just posted about this on the last thread. For those who normally have problems with the whitehouse livestream, C-SPAN ONE will be showing the event live on tv.
Thank yoooooooou UT, just added the C-Span link ;-)
I see Michelle Obama’s trip is making the news. I don’t watch cable news or network news anymore but I did see it on Yahoo. Anyone else seen it on TV?
heard about it on the radio
The Borowitz Report is funny today on B of A’s new $5 debit card charge:
“We would not exist today without the generosity of the American taxpayers,” said CEO Brian Moynihan of Bank of America, which received billions of dollars of Federal bailout money. “And we want to thank them by assessing a special monthly ‘thank you’ fee on all of our debit cards.”…More
This is very cleaver. I think RIDICULE is one of our best weapons against the inequities in our tax policy. I hope we will see more and more wealthy Americans coming out to say that their taxes should be raised.

CALL TO ACTION #1
Jacqueline sent me a wonderful email she has been sending out to family and friends in support of the
American Jobs Act. I have posted the email on my blog, and encourage you to copy and paste it and send it to folks you know.
I am so grateful to Jacqueline for sharing this with us. So many times I have thought about sending out a note to folks I know and I have hesitated. Now that we have this wonderful letter we can just “copy and paste” it is so much easier. This is the type of teamwork that will help us win the election. We all get “political” email from groups, but a letter from a family member, friend or neighbor has a much stronger impact.
CALL TO ACTION #2
It Dems are waffling, lets stir up some support by flooding their mailboxes, twitter, and phone lines.
I have a list of Democrats who are not supporting the bill, if you hear of more names post them here and I will edit the list.
Excellent, just posted link.
The hashtag “#Boehnerfail” is now trending on Twitter!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!! Can you give us a link so we can see what’s being said?
I’m really gonna miss Admiral Mullen. wish he like Bob did have to go, but I really don’t begrudge them their retirements. I’ll really miss him but they absolutely deserve it. Bye Admiral Mullen :(

An Amazing Public Servant.. instrumental in the Repeal of DADT
Years ago when I was in college, I worked summers for the Navy Department. Those Commanders and Captains were the best people I ever worked for! They were intelligent, well educated, warm, and congenial. One thing I noticed was that their letters were very well written. When I typed a letter for a civilian engineer, I had to correct grammar, punctuation, spelling…but had to make no corrections on those of the Navy personnel. One day I asked my favorite commander why their letters were perfect. He replied…”we took English for FOUR years at the Academy.” Most colleges only demand one year, or one and a half years at the most. As a long time English teacher, I’ve never forgotten that…and have always appreciated Naval officers.
Great ceremony for Admiral Mullen this morning!!!
Lots of humour and you could tell he enjoyed working with the PBO!!!
With President Obama.
I always did love Navy blues
Beautiful ceremony…but what is Mrs Mullen saying to the president so important, leaning all into him and what not. Hubby trying to pull her back LOLOL
Thank you Adm. For your service and for that of your family. I was especially touched when I heard your testimony regarding the repeal of DADT, and I respect you even more for successful and respectful partnership with your CIC, PBO.
