Man, do I need to hear President Obama. I need the sour taste washed from my brain as I just read a story in Chgo Trib about the “T Con” (tea party convention) going on outside Chgo today. Joe Walsh was one of their featured speakers today, and the quotes are not to be believed. I think Glenn Beck is their headliner tonight. Herman Cain was the only Repub candidate who was shameful enough to attend.
Here’s the craziness: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-walsh-gop-leadership-too-afraid-to-fight-in-washington-20111001,0,4285117.story
Yes, it’s enough to read your summary,Dotster. I can do without actually diving into the muck. That place will need to be cleansed after that so-called convention.
I wouldn’t worry about weird Walsh. He is going to have to find another district to run in come 2012. They wiped out his district. And the T-pty in Illinois is limited. The state is solid Democratic. At least it is when the Dems come out to vote. And they will in 2012. Notice the T-pty’s positives is in the single digits. So anyone associated with them come 2012 better watch out.
People are tired of them holding the government hostage. When everyone need so much. I think President Obama got this election covered
Brezzydee, That is great news, Walsh need to go fine another job so he can take care of his children. Only something like the Tea Party would be proud to have a deadbeat Dad representing them. It speaks volume as to what these T-Party folks are all about.
I am waiting for my President and this time no drama Obama will remind our gay brothers and sisters that it’s them that sat out the 2010 election because they where mad at him for not passing DADT and this time he will instruct them to get their act together and go out and organize and vote.
The Media on the other hand is waiting to see if he will use the Bedroom Slippers if not then they will push this crazy meme that he only talks to Blacks like that. Stay tuned.
Thanks for the reminder Chips. Just raised my head for a second out of the world of physics and calculations having to do with physics. Have to get back to physics now and constructing energy slopes and yadi yada yah.. but I’ll be watching. Thanks again Chips.
Ah! Thanks so much for the heads-up, Ms Chips!! And for the record… this is the first post I’ve had that wasn’t blank since last Sunday! Thank you so much for fixing the problem!
I’m with you Gail. Everytime he is scheduled, I have to count on my fingers to make sure I don’t miss him. Later this month it will be a little easier with only a two hour difference for me. Even my dog can count to two.
Another Saturday night and I’m once again in the “thank God” for technology mode!!!!! Watching my Phillies on tv (bottom of 7th, 7-3, 2 on, 2 outs); reading the blog in one window and waiting for the President in another. Life is good; I am blessed… the feed is now on, the Phils just scored another 8-3; life is real good………….
Have I missed him? Its 6:22 here in ND.. and just got home from grocery shopping, my 12 year old son seems to think feeding him is MY job This child just grew 2 inches in less than 3 months! Anyhoo, hopefully I’ve tuned in on time to hear Mr. President.
Oops I’m thinking this guy speaking right now may be introducing POTUS.. saying some wonderful truthful things about Pres O.. ’bout time.
The introduction alone was much much better than what he got from the CBC last week. So if the MSM is going to compare what PBO says on both nights, they need to compare the reception he got from the leadership of the HRC vs the CBC.
Help, help, I need a bit of direction. Am taking a long overdue holiday, will not be using Internet often or regularly. Chips? How do I temporarily suspend emalls from TOD, oh and how do I best deal with withdrawals from not being able to read everyone’s posts?
Apparently the drone strike that killed al-Awlaki and his English-language propagandist Samir Khan, also killed Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri. And who is Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri you ask? Well he was the guy that designed and constructed the underwear explosives that the underwear bomber wore in his failed bombing attempt. I guess that’s what happens when you get caught DWBAT. Driving While Being A Terrorist.
“Meet The 4 Democratic Senators Who Are Refusing To Raise Taxes On The Rich”
Meet the four Democratic Senators who are so worried about their own reelection campaigns that they are refusing to raise taxes on the wealthy.
Yesterday, I wrote an article based on Sen. Dick Durbin telling a local Chicago radio station that some Democrats in the Senate are refusing to raise taxes on the wealthy in an election year. At the time of publication, I didn’t have the names of the Democrats who won’t raise taxes on the rich, but I do now.
Lots of commenters wanted the names and contact information for the Un-Fantastic Four, so here they are.
1). Sen. Bob Casey -Email Twitter
2). Sen. Mary Landrieu- Email
3). Sen. Kay Hagan- Email Twitter
4). Sen. Joe Manchin- Email Twitter
Some readers suggested that we should withhold criticism of the four senators until we hear what their motivation is, but it is clear that their motivation is reelection in 2012. Sen. Kay Hagan was wishy-washy about the number of jobs the bill could create, “You know, I don’t think anybody has a crystal ball that we can tell you the exact number. But when you look at our state, we have a lot of veterans in our state. His plan really targets veterans.”…
Landreau has problems with the oil subsidy cut given she’s from LA, supports most of the other stuff. Manchin is sweating to see if changes would screw with Coal. Casey, that’s still unclear. Keep in mind we’re talking about industries that make up huge parts of their states’ economies. That’s no excuse, but it means things will stay difficult with their votes unless/until something can be done to ease their issues, or we can get enough Repub votes to pass. If that’s possible, some may vote for cloture while not having to vote for the bill itself.
you all have to read this article on President Obama……from 1995. He is so consistent and I wish so-called Black leaders and the left would read this and study it. They could learn from him.
Absolutely, Gobrooklyn. That was a fantastic read. This man walks what he talks and has been doing so for ever. He is so freaking consistent it is scary good!!
Loved it. I turned over to CNN after the speech ended, and they already have on the ticker about PBO condemning the GOP for not standing up for the soldier at that debate. That’s right PBO; call them out.
Elton John was there?! I remember him from the 2008 primaries..he called Obama supporters “misogynists” because we didn’t support Hillary. He was a big HRC supporter..and I didn’t like him very much after that.
My how times have changed for some people. Course, Tavis, Cornel, and Maxine are still beating a dead horse.
GGail, metaphysically speaking, those ‘chills’ are referred to as a ‘Translation of Truth’, a fantastic affirmation from Life Itself that what your are hearing, or what you are speaking, is indeed the Truth, throughout all of life throughout the universe!
8 GOP presidential candidates stood on a stage and let people boo a gay soldier defending our rights serving in Iraq. You want to be Commander In Chief then you have to support our troops.
I wonder if any of the gasbags on the Sunday Shows will bring this up.
3.2.1. Tavis Smiley and Maxine Waters are going to be whining about why PBO didn’t tell HRC to put on bedroom slippers and stop complaining. And in fact, look for some in media to rear this debate.
And we will be ready to push back with the difference in the introduction that our President received from the HRC leadership…Maxine Waters & Cleaver were not even present to introduce the President, much less give him credit for anything. Joe Salamon did BOTH – he gave PBO a very warm and enthusiastic reception and welcome, and highlighted how much this President accomplished for the LGBT AND compared him favorably to ALL OTHER PRESIDENTS on the issues of LGBT rights!!!!
The argument to be used against the Smiley/Waters/ West spoilers is that PBO didn’t have to ask for that because, unlike the CBC, the introduction stated clearly that they want to and will support PBO who not only supported them but produced results in a big way.
Exactly! They recognized it was a long hard struggle. Said they worked with him, for their issue, and said they were going to continue to do so. With that kind of commitment it is easier to ask them to broaden the notion of their struggle from single-issue based to across the board struggle if it hasn’t been. Unlike the folks at the CBC celebration these folks are not legislators and Choi and Aravosis are not hosting this dinner. Many of them in that audience—which was so unnervingly majority white—may need a bit more nudging across constituencies;-) But gays and lesbians cross all communities in spite of societal stereotypes that focus on caucasian and monied gays.
Holy smokes was that a call to action or what. He slammed the podium again!!! And he called the GOP losers who didn’t chastise the teabagger audience that booed the gay military soldier. Love MY President!!!
President Obama fantastic again. E Pluribus Unum, out of many we are one. As we continue our slow, steady, sure march toward a more perfect union. He’s the absolute best—ever!
I had tears in my eyes. He has done so much; we have so much more to do. So glad he is talking about values and who we are as Americans. We can work together to make America more inclusive, more just, more equal, with opportunity for all. The Smartypants post about his seeking the Illinois Senate seat in 1995 is great: even in 1995 he was talking about how we all need to come together to realize change. Yes we can!
What a terrific speech. I can’t wait til the R’s finally choose their chump to run and the whole nation will see the contrast clear as day. I loved that he had tangible legislation, real change he could cite, it wasn’t just inspirational sounds but real deeds. I thought the audience reacted as strongly to the crusade against bullying as they did to the end of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. And I loved how he talked about the R candidates not standing up for the gay soldier, can’t remember the exact line but it started “You Wanna Be President?……” He is tough as nails. And “We are not a small country” – great line. I am so proud to be his supporter.
Elly, the Repubs won’t have much to say,m facts don’t lie!!! There are so many things the President can enumerate, I wonder what nonesense they are going to come up with on the other side…
That was an awesome speech and the audience was extremely responsive. Loved it. I watched on the link Chips provided and it appears there were 4520 viewing.
Loved this heartfelt speech to the gay community. I really think they will have his back this time. Look how many LGBT members of his campaign staff and administration there are in addition to all the legislative progress. Podium thump!
made the mistake of pausing at CNN and of course they have on the eternal complainer John Arivosis (host of AmericaBlog) who is attacking the President. Man these people never quit their vitriol
This guy is a Republican Teabagger who just happens to be gay. Like his Libertarian buddy Dan Choi. Utter silence from both of them when the GOP audience booed and not one of the candidates said ANYTHING!!! Neither of them speak for the LGBT community any more than West or Smiley speak for the Black community. None of them EVER supported this President!!!
I used to read Americablog back when they had Bush to complain about, now I simply can’t stand it and don’t want to give them any traffic. There are a few good writers but Arivosis or whatever his name is is just awful. He will never give Obama credit for anything. As many people have pointed out, why do we let these ex-Republicans shoot off their mouths so much? Maybe it’s just Republican DNA that they know how to bully their way to the forefront. And another thing – his blog notes that the blog is his source of income so please send financial contributions, supporting the contention of many of us that these folks make noise so they get recognition so they make money. But enough about that guy and please don’t even talk about him anymore, let’s just bask in the memory of another wonderful speech by PBO.
Very telling who CNN invited on to comment/criticize. Out of all the gay people in the country, they choose Aravosis who has been consistently, stridently anti-Obama from the beginning? Ridiculous. Look! Don’t look over there at the gay community applauding and cheering Obama. Look here! Here’s a gay guy who doesn’t like him. We found one! And we’re featuring him on our network. Because we’re not really interested in reporting truths, we just want to stir up anti-Obama stuff. We’re selling controversy. We’re shameless.
Are you serious dotser? They brought on Aravosis? Good grief, the guy who makes a living out of spitting bile all over the President and whose saddest day was when DADT was repealed …. because it made him look like the complete idiot and liar that he is? Great. Did they have Choi on too?
Time to twitter cnn and aravosis? I don’t twitter but I applaud your setting up the Twitter Brigade, Chips A way that viewers can actually react instantly to the corporatemediawhore$$.
Cnn seriously does not want President Obama to be re-elected by The People again.
this is going to be a campaign this country will never ever forget. The gop/ their media will spin and game everything and POTUS will just come out day after day and kick ass. Folks are going to wake up, I feel it coming.. maybe I’m just ultra fired up after this speech, but I swear I really think President Obama is going to take this country by storm alll over again.
It was brilliant- the whole speech, he told all he’s already accomplished for the gay community but then wove and connected their needs and wishes to all of the rest of the country.. he continues to plant us all together, to remind us of our interconnectedness.. and it wasn’t so much for his audience there as it was intended (I think) for all folks around the country to remember- rights for LGBT folks are rights for all of us, Perfecting our equality in America makes life better for all of us here. I just love him, I have since I read his book: The Audacity of Hope.. he truly spelled out who he is, what he wanted for America.. and I so wholeheartedly embrace his vision. I tell you he will be considered our greatest President when the history books are written.
I am with you, Sherijr. I see all the poll numbers and I see the media gimmickery, but I anxiously await this president on the campaign trail. The Republican nominee, I don’t care who he is, will feel welts after this is all over and done.
The media is full of it. Right now their stupid polls are their only weapon against this president. So they are milking the hell out of those slanted polls.
Exactly. It is as if they are invested in the GOP winning, but no matter what they do, they can’t change the fact that these people have absolutely nothing to offer this country. Nothing!! I honestly can’t wait for PBO to begin campaigning in earnest.
I am laughing my head off everyday with their silly new shiny thing that is Christie. IMO Christie is pulling a Palin. He knows media will latch on to anything to make news, and so he will milk it for a while to collect some cash.
The media has become a circus with a bunch of uninformed clowns.
Absolutely correct Africa. Everytime I see a new poll deriding PBO or the GOPMedia trotting out Christie, Palin, Romney and the rest of the circus freaks; I laugh continuously because you can practically smell the desperation. The GOP have nothing. no one. no ideas. NADA. Our guy (PBO) is going to take names and kick asses all around the 50 states. Cannot wait!
Sherijr, you put in words exactly how I feel tonight. My confidence in the President has never wavered and I am happy to see the momentum building up since he introduced the American Jobs Act. I had the same feeling, this election is more important and will be very exciting with a greater impact than the one in 2008.
This is the President’s magnet that will attract the majority of voters in 2012 – a consistent, positive vision of America. The Republicans have NO ONE, at least no one we’ve seen to date, with a comparable vision
thats right- “a consistent positive vision of America” Isn’t that what most of us grew up with.. the belief that we’re equal, the belief that we can succeed, the belief that this country is about US.. President Obama speaks for me everytime he speaks.. since he spoke at the Dem convention, I’ve known he is speaking of the America I believe in- the America we have to evolve for all our sakes.
Another epic moment for our wonderful Prez. What a wonderful introduction
and what a FIRED-up crowd and what a great speech. Pbo is a man to be reckoned with.
Will any of those 8 on the other side ever learn?
I loved how this group gives credit to our Prez for all his hard work. The CBC could
take notes on how it’s done….God Bless you Mr President, we have your back.
Anyone ever heard of Deneen Borelli? I hadn’t until just now. Watched a FOX clip referenced on twitter—-won’t link because it’s too ugly—-but it’s 4 women, including Deneen, sitting around gossiping and talking nasty about Michelle Obama. Deneen seems to be one of those African Americans who allows herself to be used by people who hate her and her race to disparage other African Americans. Besides a contributor at FOX, she’s a columnist at Daily Caller—isn’t that Tucker Carlson’s outfit?—-and belongs to something called Project 21, an organization of black conservatives—or something. She’s also a teabagger and appears with Rove and Hannity and what in the world is her problem? What’s wrong with these people? Is it self-hate or what? I ask sincerely because it burns me up.
I saw those cackling, jealous hens. I’m trying to find out about her too, so I can send her a nasty note. They all just reek of jealousy at the first lady.
Same here, I don’t even wanna hear about it. POTUS just made an awesome speech at the HRC, that’s all I care about. The haters can hate themselves into the ground for all I care.
The way I view people like her is that they know they are being used as tool, but they play the game to line their coffers. But she best believe it, when she does rub them the wrong way, she’ll get the boot quicker than you can bat an eye.
Anyone here remember Armstrong Williams? Black guy, mouthpiece for George Bush, was booked on every TV program. Then it was discovered he took I think, 2,000 to push some thing to do with education. Once that became public (I think they made him pay it back), he became persona non grata in Republican circles. I don’t watch TV much, but my hubby tells me he does not see him at all. This was a guy that was a regular on every program.
Folks like those women, can say whatever they want to about our wonderful First Lady, it won’t change one thing. Jealousy and envy make people do alot of things. And it’s clear those bitches ( excuse my language please)are jealous of FLOTUS
Hey there Donna, you inspired me. Now if I can only figure out what to do once I get on Twitter. Anyway, I’m @ifuhav2ask. Get your what to talk to PBO cue cards ready.
Watching the HRC speech, I am overcome with joy and admiration for POTUS. This man is just good inside. He is a remarkable human being on so many levels. A fierce advocate for the American people. We are so blessed to have him as our leader. No one in the Republican Party or any of their presidential candidates can hold a candle to him.
The gossip Mark Knoller reported on twitter that POTUS & FLOTUS went to a DC restaurant to celebrate their wedding anniversary early. Hope we get to see photos. Oh, Chips…..
Press pool is reporting President & Mrs Obama are at Restaurant Eve in Old Town Alexandria to celebrate their wedding anniversary, which is Monday, October 3rd.
Now, as an old African American dyke who has been outraged by the Choi’s and Aravosis’ I cannot tell you how proud I am of the celebration, gratitude and applause at this dinner. Oh, not just because of lesbian rights—although I am pleased that the president speaks in the validating language of love and encouragement, but because I am also dependent on Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security and all of the benefits of our national safety net. I am not merely or only gay. I, like so many others of my peers am representative of a host of different qualities that cross different demographic realities. And the gays and lesbians that I have demonstrated with in anti-racist and anti-imperialist struggles would not dare call the president or the black community a racist epithet. It is the inclusivity of these struggles for social justice that has brought me to support candidate and President Obama. He has a heart, character and courage and speaks out of those values—to ALL groups.
In African American churches and schools, there are gays and lesbians; in gay and lesbian organizations there are Blacks and Latinos, in economically disadvantaged communities there are people of all races and sexual identities and gender realities. This is the picture of the patchwork that is America. It is what I live and have no choice but to fight for if I want to live. It is what the president sees and it is this vision that is the hope for America if we want to survive and prosper.
Beautifully stated fancieful. Beautifully stated. And I’m so happy that slowly but surely the LGBT community is beginning to have rights that all people should have.
Thank you for that, fanciful.. you expressed so eloquently the way I feel about the President.. I love that President Obama is the way you describe him.
Hi all. Had to come here because the net is full of “poor Obama isnt doing well in the polls” and other down stuff. What happened that caused all this? He had another foreign success that the left attacked because the guy was an American. So were they supposed to let him continue to kill and plan to kill Americans? And now even Booman is discouraged.
If his poll numbers are so bad what are the Repubs…much worse. And the candidates for Pres only want to get Obama , not improve our Country.
So you actually believe these polls? When are we going to hold the media accountable for their unethical use of polling data – from polls which we know are deliberately manipulated and biased to put the President in the worst possible light? Polls that are designed to shape rather than report public opinion?
TODville. I have a favor to ask. You’ve seen my occasional rants about how people with disabilities are (mis) treated in these United States.
Will you please, please, PLEASE sign this White House ‘We the People’ petition and pass it on to your friends and families? http://wh.gov/4PD
It’s about funding Medicaid so that people with disabilities can get the proper supports they need in the community in which they live.
You’ll need a WhiteHouse gov account which you can get from the link. and Please remember to go back and sign the petition. We need 5,000 signatures for it to get to the Policy folks at the White House.
Sign and share the petition http://wh.gov/4PD – Support people with disabilities and seniors!
Thank you. Me and my son really REALLY appreciate if you can take a few seconds to do this.
isonprize, could you remind us about this again tomorrow. I tried to create an account to sign your petition and the site is down for maintenance right now.
Yep that last picture is a clear indication that he has completely lost the GLBT support.
but seriously- Passed the Hate Crimes Bill, Issued an order to treat gay partners equally when a partner is ill in any hospital that receives medicare or medicaid, Lifted the HIV travel ban, Repealed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, No longer defending DOMA in the courts and more to come…
Chipsticks, I have tried to sign up or log in with WordPress and it’s giving me FITS! I am not sure, but I might have already sign up and have forgotten my password or log in name or something, but WordPress is NOT MY FRIEND. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Oh no! Not MORE WordPress gremlins! The only thing is GGail, your comment came through (without ending up in the dreaded pending queue), so you must have been signed in okay when you posted it. Let me know if you’re still having trouble and I’ll look in to it tomorrow.
I have a question and I mean this in all sincerity. What is the purpose of the “Occupying Wall Street” protest? Do they want to shut Wall Street down permanently or temporarily or are they looking for some justice?
I guess I just don’t understand what they are trying to accomplish. I’m not against this protest. I’m just not sure what’s its purpose.
I had the same discussion with a friends a lunch earlier this week? I support their right to protest and even their desire to protest, but I haven’t heard what they hoped to gain. Bringing attention to how corrupt the banks are? Make the banks start loaning money? What’s the end game?
Until they announce that they support the AJB, that’s when I will care about occupywallsttreet, I saw on Larry that many are Ron Paul supporters so I have no idea what they stand for.
I’m with you, Donna. This just seems like ‘hey, let’s protest and oh, the occupation model worked in Wisconsin and Egypt, so let’s do it that way’ to me. Sort of like the peaceful protesters in Seattle WTO a few years ago that got co-opted by the anarchists and turned violent. No real point at all, just protest for the sake of protest.
I saw a clip on the evening news where some strategist are starting to say that this is a counter to the Tea Party and might translate into votes in 2012. The problem with that for me is that I don’t get the sense that these are people who support the President.
It seems to be a pretty amorphous crowd protesting for economic justice. They are angry about the bailouts and want something to happen. What, I do not know.
They are angry about what a lot of American are angry about, even what some of the of T-baggers are angry about. Wall street swindled the country and got away with it. The sense that they may not support Obama is prabobly true. After all, he helped with the bailout and didn’t march any of them to jail. In the meantime, people are being thrown out of their homes by these same guys. Obama was soft on these guys and now they are showing their contempt for him, witness all their big money rushing to Mitt and others. It’s worst of both worlds, you team is frustrated and the other guy hates still you. Those are the chips.
So you’re saying that these protests are really about President Obama, and a way of complaining about what he has or hasn’t done? Is that what you’re saying? And by the way, the T-baggers are NOT angry at Wall Street. I’m not sure where you got that from. The T-baggers are angry at the person who currently resides in the WH. And more and more I’m beginning to suspect that some of those people in the current Wall Street protests have the same underlying issue that will soon come to the forefront.
I find it extraordinarily hypocritical to suddenly demand that President Obama singularly “do something” about Wall Street when all of the other politicians seem to be getting a pass. What about the NY Senators Gillibrand and Schumer, both of whom have gotten donations from Wall Street, and are now balking on the AJA for that very reason? What about Andrew Cuomo, the governor of NY? What about all the other GOP and Dems in congress? For your information, President Obama DID try to do something about Wall Street when he passed his financial reform – where were all these protesters then? Why weren’t they rallying support for the bill to make it even stronger? What exactly are they trying to do NOW? Distract from the American Jobs Act now that the President has proposed his bill? What exactly is their agenda? They better come clean. Because as I stated before, if their REAL agenda is to cause damage to this president while allowing the Republicans and other Democratic politicians off the hook, then their cause will not be worthy of ANYTHING, and they will be exposed for the hypocrites that they are.
You’ve written some of my thinking on this wallstreet protest hopefruit, I’m hard put to understand their goal.. I’ve read their demands and don’t see what exactly is sensible or doable there.. I’m welcome to hearing what is, but thus far have not been able to see a concrete goal. And then there is this, as you mentioned… how timely is it that just when POTUS rolls out hs Jobs Act.. suddenly there is this ‘protest’ on wallstreet, nothing whatsoever to do with jobs.. and I have wondered if it’s another distraction designed to take our eyes off the Jobs ball. Now with that said, I’ve seen folks like Van support it which gives it more credence in my thinking.. but still I’m hard put to understand what it’s all about.. and is the next march/protest- which I’ve read on twitter is supposedly coming to DC.. by the same folks- will that be on Congress or directed once again on POTUS?
Thank you hopefruit2 for what you said, I couldn’t agree with you more. The tea party angry at Wall St., no they are angry because there is a black man in the White House.
No. I don’t think they are “mad” at the president. They just think he can’t/won’t do something about these guys and they might as well take matters in their hands. Instead of demonizing them, the Dems would do better to channel this uprising the way the GOP did the T-baggers. And yes, there are a lot of different type of T-baggers, many of whom hate wallstreet guys but chose to blame it on Obama. They point out guys he had around them, Summers, Giethner, etc.
This type of speech – like the one he delivered last week @ the CBC dinner – is exactly why the GOP is still searching for a candidate,.despite having 9 of them to choose from. He’s been in gorverning mode these past two and a half years, now he just shifted to campaign mode….he got them cornered and the baggers can’t see a way out. He seems to tell them…”you wanna get to the white house? – you gotta pass through me!”.
I will repost my comment from a previous thread :
It is very telling that at this stage in the Presidential nomination process for 2012,50% of Republicans don’t like the list being presented to them for the position. If you analyze this deeply, it’s not really that they dislike these people or that they’re not conservative enough or tea-bagging crazy enough….they feel it in their bones that no matter who they finally choose, that person will stand man-a-mano with PBO to debate the issues – and that scares them shitless!.
This vacillation from one crazy candidate to another is less about dislike of what they see but more about the fear of the man Barack Obama. The have thrown the so-called kitchen sink at him and he’s still standing and polling better than St. Ronnie at the same point in his Presidency.
The MSM cretins who obviously would prefer a horse-race for their ratings, are the ones enabling and propping up all kinds of vermin coming out of the woodworks : First it was Bachmann who was going to energize the party and was the one to beat….we all know what happened when America heard her open her mouth; then they all started to rope in the cowboy from Texas with their daily tripe on the networks…they claimed he will wipe out Romney from the maps if he entered, but it took just 3 debates for America to realize what a bumbling bufoon he was; now they’re all casting their nets and going all gaga over the guy from NJ. For now,he’s stringing them along and basking in the limelight….until he gets deflated like a pin on a balloon.
My message to the GOP is simple…..nothing you do or whoever you choose will stop you from losing the 2012 elections big time.
I can’t stop laughing! Co-sign every word you wrote. They got nothing and they know it. They are so desperate you can feel it coming off Morning Joe and Chuck Todd every day.
I tell you Proud, it’s just laughable.
They have the whole msm and WH press corps on their side and still can’t seem to do any lasting damage. It is this tacit acceptance of the inevitability of PBO’s re-election, that’s driving them batshit crazy….that’s why GOP governors across the land are passing voter supression laws all over the place. So, we have to continue the push and vigilance.
Just so. You tell it like it is. You did forget that other great savior, Donald Trump, and then Jon Huntsman was going to be the big threat. What a group!
Uche, you are so right. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’ve come to the delightful conclusion that the Republicans’ dissatisfaction with their candidates, much to their chagrin, is a tacit admission of how highly they view PBO and his political gifts. They may not realize it but they are paying PBO the highest of compliments. They are saying in effect, “We have no one that is fit to breathe the same air as President Barack Obama.” On that we agree. It is the one and only thing that they are right about. (which is why they are trying to rig the vote to compensate for whoever they ultimately settle on)
Ok am looking for the commander in chief clip but I can’t find it any where, most video links don’t work on my iPad and that was the best line of the night. Can any one up load the clip where he called out the GOP clowns on being silent while a soldier was booed? Thanks.
Marc Ambinder was on Twitter saying that PBO essentially called the 2012 GOP candidates cowards. I couldn’t resist sending him a tweet in which I asked him if he thinks people will be upset because they will hear the truth, and I also stated that truth is something Americans don’t get enough of. No response from him so far. I guess I was too truthful for him. PBO didn’t lie. Not one of the 2012 GOP candidates said anything when some in the audience booed the soldier. Not one. There’s no excuse for this. Those with media platforms in this country don’t use them to tell the truth and so do a disservice to our democracy. PBO was right to say that if you want to be POTUS, you need to stand up for that soldier who was booed. This is what pledging to uphold and defend our Constitution means. Also, LogCabin GOP was on Twitter asking HRC if its members were happy pledging their support to PBO a year before the election and trying to hammer PBO on his position on marriage equality. PBO stated clearly that DOMA belongs in the same trashbin as DADT. WTFrack! I tweeted them back, telling them to read PBO’s speech on the HRC web site and asking whether they’d recovered from Stockholm Syndrome yet. They have a nerve. They’re planning to vote for a republican in 2012 from a slate of candidates where every candidate would deny them their constitutional rights. Sick. Just sick. I didn’t receive a response from them, either.
No majii he didn’t call them cowards, excuse my language but we’re all adults here, but essentially he called them “Pussies”!
These fake Rambos have been running around for months thumping their chests and calling PBO weak, but when they had the opportunity to step up and lead, they wilted like hothouse violets.
Thanks for being a twitter bug, majii!! Love it! Yeah, the gop 8 are freakin’ cowards.nice of Ambinder to point it out. Asshole.
And, the log cabins..I can’t even believe how obtuse they are. Hammering PBO on something he clearly is working on and not giving him credit when it’s due. What’s up with that?! What exactly do they get out of a lying fascist repub admin? Tax cuts? Is that what this is about ?
I went to the Meditaite site to watch the entire speech and saw a comment posted that was dead-on about the president.
“Anyone who says Barack Obama faces an uphill reelection battle only needs to remind him or herself of his oratorical prowess by watching one of his speeches. His problem isn’t about moxie, it’s about message. There’s this fog, resulting from an infinite, scattered, and louder than ever media. There’s a reason the GOP is unsure of it’s current field: it realizes that its current field consists of candidates who are either too extreme to appeal to independent voters, or too oratorically weak to share a stage with Barack Obama and get the better of him. Those who think this isn’t a gargantuan task only need ask Hillary Clinton and John McCain. “
Hey, hey, hey Chips I thought you were heading in for the night?
You know people forget, this is the same man who went to the republican retreat and took them on one-by-one, and essentially thanked them for coming to his smack-down…LMAO!
Mr. President, May the Force always be With You! I cannot help but feel God is on his side, he speaks of kindness, love, joy and compassion. Helping each other. Faith. Hope. How can anyone choose otherwise?
None of those eight clowns were willing to stand up for that gay soldier who is serving his country. They claim they didn’t hear the booing, which is alot of B.S. Now Perry is talking about he will be willing to send those soldiers to Mexico to fight the drug problems over there. Not willing to stand up for them, but only to glad to send them in harm’s way.
Here’s the craziness:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-walsh-gop-leadership-too-afraid-to-fight-in-washington-20111001,0,4285117.story
Thanks but no thanks. I don’t want to read or hear anything from those radical crazy ass tea baggers.
Thanks Chipsticks! I needed the heads up here on the West Coast. (as she counts backwards on her fingers…7, 6, 5, 4:15pm PST)
I’m with you Gail. Everytime he is scheduled, I have to count on my fingers to make sure I don’t miss him. Later this month it will be a little easier with only a two hour difference for me. Even my dog can count to two.
BTW, TOD friends I notice on the bottom of C-Span 1 tv screen that it says “preview of Pres. Obama’s speech to Human Rights Campaign 7:30pm ET.
It has started.
Where are u watching it from Hope?
From the link here (Human Rights Campaign site) provided by Chips.
7:15 cpan says 7:30 I hope I don’t miss it.
Here it is live: http://www.hrc.org/apps/obama/
The program has begun on hrc.org. Giving POTUS credit….and applause and he hasn’t come on stage yet!
Yes that was the first person he credited.
“No president, No president has done more to improve the lives of LGBT than President Obama.”
“No president has done more to improve the lives of the LGBT than President Obama”
Joe Salamon Oct 1, 2011.
Oops I’m sorry I misspelled his last name: It’s Solomnese and not “Salamon” as I wrote.
Have I missed him? Its 6:22 here in ND.. and just got home from grocery shopping, my 12 year old son seems to think feeding him is MY job
This child just grew 2 inches in less than 3 months! Anyhoo, hopefully I’ve tuned in on time to hear Mr. President.
Oops I’m thinking this guy speaking right now may be introducing POTUS.. saying some wonderful truthful things about Pres O.. ’bout time.
OH do you all know who the gentleman who introduced him was? What a great intro.. so heartfelt.. and oh my my my what a HAPPY crowd too!
Joe Solomnese, I believe, head of the Human Rights Campaign.
“He kept his word.”
NO PRESIDENT HAS DONE MORE FOR THE LBGT COMMUNITY THAN PBO!!
That was quite the introduction. That disputes all that Rachel and afew others have said. I love this man.
Well I can’t see it using my ipad I will wait for c-span to show it.
The introduction alone was much much better than what he got from the CBC last week. So if the MSM is going to compare what PBO says on both nights, they need to compare the reception he got from the leadership of the HRC vs the CBC.
Amen hope.
Tell it hopefruit2!
POTUS is such a wise speaker. He reaches each and every audience he stands before. Him sooooo smart!!!!

Good DWBAT is a new one to me and it made me giggle
PASS THIS BILL! See how he weaved AJA into this speech!!!! Smart, so very smart!!!!
He got those folks FIRED up!!!
Goddamn it, he went there.
OMG He went there! U Go my president!
I love that he goes after the Repub canidates for not standing up for the soldier that was booed.
Silence leadership.
OT: http://www.politicususa.com/en/4-democratic-senators-refusing-to-tax-rich
He said “I’m FIRED UP TOO”!!!!!
you all have to read this article on President Obama……from 1995. He is so consistent and I wish so-called Black leaders and the left would read this and study it. They could learn from him.
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2011/10/obama-circa-1995.html?spref=tw
OMG, that was a great read. He hasn’t changed. He is saying the same things today. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
Absolutely, Gobrooklyn. That was a fantastic read. This man walks what he talks and has been doing so for ever. He is so freaking consistent it is scary good!!
Mine went off
HE’S ON FIRE!
I love it. He slapped the podium again!!!!!!
Loved it. I turned over to CNN after the speech ended, and they already have on the ticker about PBO condemning the GOP for not standing up for the soldier at that debate. That’s right PBO; call them out.
I was wondering already whether I was the only one who noticed. Love that!
I just saw the speech this morning (link to original speech). I loved it, too. I awaited for the end to see whether or not he did it.
DAMN…this President…..WOw….
Was that Elton John ? Did he get a face lift ???
Elton John is in Las Vegas for his 3 year stint.
oh…thanks…
Elton John was there, oh my. Too bad I can’t watch
Lost respect for Elton after he performed for Rush Limbaugh.
Sorry, I realize its business but some things should transcend money.
He is really really FIRED UP!!!
Anyone thinking the speech at the CBC last week was a heralding moment in what we can expect from President Obama from now on was correct.
Segments of this speech are going to be great YouTube material for all of us to use.
#PRESSON
yep exactly Bob. Taking the president to the people in his own words is powerful.
OH MY GOODNESS! POTUS gives me chills when he speaks the truth!!!!!
GGail, metaphysically speaking, those ‘chills’ are referred to as a ‘Translation of Truth’, a fantastic affirmation from Life Itself that what your are hearing, or what you are speaking, is indeed the Truth, throughout all of life throughout the universe!
I missed the last part. Damn it.
Oh sorry you missed it Me4
.Hopefully Chips will have a video up soon.
Wow that was fantastic. I hope there is a replay pretty soon – I’d like to hear that again.
President Obama said (paraphrasing)
8 GOP presidential candidates stood on a stage and let people boo a gay soldier defending our rights serving in Iraq. You want to be Commander In Chief then you have to support our troops.
I wonder if any of the gasbags on the Sunday Shows will bring this up.
Oh my lord he is fucking BEAUTIFUL Is he not!!!
What a crowd, what a human being he is.
3.2.1. Tavis Smiley and Maxine Waters are going to be whining about why PBO didn’t tell HRC to put on bedroom slippers and stop complaining. And in fact, look for some in media to rear this debate.
That’s how predictable and unserious they are.
And Joe Salamon also stated that POTUS accomplished more in 2 years than any other President!
Ooops! I spelled Joe’s last name wrong – it’s Solomnese.
Yeah well what does Joe know?
Gitmo. Public option. No ending bush tax cuts. No glitter shitting ponies.
/snark
Cowards they were, and he told them in not so many words. Love my president!!!
President Obama fantastic again. E Pluribus Unum, out of many we are one. As we continue our slow, steady, sure march toward a more perfect union. He’s the absolute best—ever!
He smacked the podium again….YES !
OMG I LOVE OUR POTUS!!!
Been buried in my Spanish textbook and I missed it…
I had tears in my eyes.
I see I had the quote wrong – he said “You Wanna be Commander in Chief?…….” much more effective. I want to watch that part over and over.
Another gret speech by President Obama!
This man is really, really a great speaker!!
You want to be commander-in-chief, well you need to stand up for the soldier that was booed!
You want the truth!
You want the truth!
You can’t handle the truth!
I’ve got to stop watching him. He’s gonna make me march to Washington, DC in my BEDROOM SLIPPERS!!!!
Me too…
He can fire us up and we’re not even in the live audience!
That was an awesome speech and the audience was extremely responsive. Loved it. I watched on the link Chips provided and it appears there were 4520 viewing.
Yes Jackie, on watched on that link and saw the number at the bottom!
I meant to say “I watched”
I watched it there too Jackie and that number only represented those who watched it on hrc.org!
I saw that. Of course CNN would bring out the fringe person. I immediately turned away.
Jeez, I hate to ask what the bastard had to say. Wha’d the bastard say;-)
The line of the night: Obama: “You wanna be commander in chief? Start by standing up for men and women who wear the uniform.”
proudofobama , I loved that line too. I was cheering right with the crowd when he said that. You tell them Mr. President.
I hope as she usually does, Chips will post video soon. My audio was fine, but not the video.
Just posted a clip africa, two more coming
Thanks, Chips, as always!!
Melissa Harris Perry is on c-span…
this is going to be a campaign this country will never ever forget.
I too, have this feeling.
I agree too.
‘I so wholeheartedly embrace his vision’
This is the President’s magnet that will attract the majority of voters in 2012 – a consistent, positive vision of America. The Republicans have NO ONE, at least no one we’ve seen to date, with a comparable vision
thats right- “a consistent positive vision of America” Isn’t that what most of us grew up with.. the belief that we’re equal, the belief that we can succeed, the belief that this country is about US.. President Obama speaks for me everytime he speaks.. since he spoke at the Dem convention, I’ve known he is speaking of the America I believe in- the America we have to evolve for all our sakes.
Thank u Chips, I missed a lot but I will wait patiently for the rest of the videos.
Hiya M4O, just posted the three clips I was able to record – major gremlins tonight
You are amazing. Thanks!!!!
Thanks you so much Chips, Just finished watching the 3 clips except one which he called out the GOP clowns.
Melissa Harris Perry is giving a lecture on CSPAN right now. Topic is Race Relations and American Politics.
Watching this now. I wish I’d known about the lecture when it first started.
I wonder if C-SPAN will have video of it online?

ARGH, I only caught the last couple of minutes. Looking forward to Chips To the Rescue.
Love the podium slap. He almost knocked that thing over this time.
“I loved how this group gives credit to our Prez for all his hard work. The CBC could

THIS!!!!
Thank you HOPE44.
I just found video of the whole event here:
http://www.mediaite.com/online/watch-obamas-speech-at-the-human-rights-campaign-dinner-livestream/
They all just reek of jealousy at the first lady.
dotster3, I appreciate you watching mess like that, but I can’t watch it, I refuse to watch these fools.
Go figure.
Folks like those women, can say whatever they want to about our wonderful First Lady, it won’t change one thing. Jealousy and envy make people do alot of things. And it’s clear those bitches ( excuse my language please)are jealous of FLOTUS
Sounds like self loathing to me.
I’m just going to be honest: ANY Black person who is found, ON TV, disparaging our First Lady…..
well, I know she must not come around her family, and has no Black friends.
whatever ‘ issues’ are imagined with Black folk and POTUS (at his 87% approval rating)
…there are NO ‘issues’ with FLOTUS.
as Black Snob once wrote:
Talk about POTUS, and we’ll shrug, because it comes with the job.
Disrespect FLOTUS and.. we.will.cut.you.
I’m trying to join this site and follow on twitter. Hoping this works
Hey Cookemom. You made it….I’m NoShock on twitter.

WHAT LADYHAWKE SAID.
PRECISELY, Ladyhawke!!!

The gossip Mark Knoller reported on twitter that POTUS & FLOTUS went to a DC restaurant to celebrate their wedding anniversary early. Hope we get to see photos. Oh, Chips…..
We are on the same page, proud!!
Knoller tweeted this about the restaurant PBO and Michelle are eating at. He’s such a nosy, gossip. LOL.
NYTimes review of Restaurant Eve: “French-style dishes…pork belly confit w/ fava beans…stuffed rabbit w/ chanterelles & garden peas.”
For once his gossip came in handy.
Other times he’s a jerk.
ROFLMAO!! They are really nosy and gossipy.
I can’t stand Knoller
Press pool is reporting President & Mrs Obama are at Restaurant Eve in Old Town Alexandria to celebrate their wedding anniversary, which is Monday, October 3rd.
19 years. What a fantastic marriage.
And he looks at Michelle as if they were on their first date. They are just so lovely and inspiring.
It is what the president sees and it is this vision that is the hope for America if we want to survive and prosper.
fancieful – that was beautifully expressed. Thank you so much for sharing this with us here at TOD.
Beautifully stated fancieful. Beautifully stated. And I’m so happy that slowly but surely the LGBT community is beginning to have rights that all people should have.
Thank you so much for those beautiful and heartfelt sentiments:) I think above all, this man is genuine and inclusive. I love that about him.
This is the longer much more eloquent version of what I’ve been trying to say on Twitter. Thank you. Well said.
Thank you for that, fanciful.. you expressed so eloquently the way I feel about the President.. I love that President Obama is the way you describe him.
Wow, you packed everything important and heartfelt into your post. Thank you, fancieful. Your support is appreciated.
Awww man I missed it!! Those pics are beautiful…..
. Let me do some catching up. Thanks for everything Chips. You make life a lot easier
What Ladyhawke said with a cherry on top
See on Twitter that Barack and Michelle are out for din in Old Town Alexandria to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Nice!
How wonderful for them. We don’t need any pictures, for once let this be just for them. God Bless Barack and Michelle Obama.
Yikes its good to see positive stuff/
So you actually believe these polls? When are we going to hold the media accountable for their unethical use of polling data – from polls which we know are deliberately manipulated and biased to put the President in the worst possible light? Polls that are designed to shape rather than report public opinion?
No I dont believe them and we do need to hold them responsible. Thanks
Don’t believe polls
Peace,
Isonprize
isonprize, could you remind us about this again tomorrow. I tried to create an account to sign your petition and the site is down for maintenance right now.
I just signed the petition Isonprize. I’m #144. Good luck and God bless you and your son.
I was #142
Yep that last picture is a clear indication that he has completely lost the GLBT support.
but seriously- Passed the Hate Crimes Bill, Issued an order to treat gay partners equally when a partner is ill in any hospital that receives medicare or medicaid, Lifted the HIV travel ban, Repealed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, No longer defending DOMA in the courts and more to come…
Simply the best, Better than all the rest!
Had openly gay judge confirmed; transgender staffer; gay social secretary; inclusive in staff appointments. He walks the talk.

Hiya aristac, you must have forgotten to sign in with your comment about the polls, I found you in the pending queue – but rescued you!
Thanks Chipsticks! And once again – thank you so very much for providing us a place to support and enjoy our PRESIDENT!
You ROCK Chipsticks!
And oh, btw, I’m glad the media isn’t covering it. I don’t want it to detract from the President’s message.
PRESS ON!. obama/biden 2012.
(which is why they are trying to rig the vote to compensate for whoever they ultimately settle on)
Agree. We still need to be vigilant as they will win the election by cheating.
THIS!
Ok am looking for the commander in chief clip but I can’t find it any where, most video links don’t work on my iPad and that was the best line of the night. Can any one up load the clip where he called out the GOP clowns on being silent while a soldier was booed? Thanks.
Here you go:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/abrams/obama-responds-to-gop-candidates-silence-afte
Magnificent! Thank you for sharing it bjw.
Hey, hey, hey Chips I thought you were heading in for the night?
You know people forget, this is the same man who went to the republican retreat and took them on one-by-one, and essentially thanked them for coming to his smack-down…LMAO!
Goose bumps. Excellent comment.
How true is that comment,bjw2:) How totally true is that!
Word!…..I like the fake Rambos description of the GOP candidates upthread. All chiken littles!.
Right on…
bjw2 thanks for bringin’ this to our attention!
YES.WE.CAN…DO.(Much)More, Together!
YES.WE.CAN, Again…Obama/Biden 2012!
PRESS ON!
Mr. President, May the Force always be With You! I cannot help but feel God is on his side, he speaks of kindness, love, joy and compassion. Helping each other. Faith. Hope. How can anyone choose otherwise?
That loud scream you hear in the morning will be the GOP finding out that President Obama left a horse’s head in their bed.
Wow, what a line – now THIS will make a great commercial!
“You want to be commander in chief, you can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States.”
