Now lets just turn back the clock a wee bit to 2007 & the Rev Wright ‘controversy’…. everyone from Rush Limbaugh to Anderson Cooper played the snippets of Rev Wright’s sermons round the clock non stop 24-7 thus doing their damndest to scare the wits outta every ‘white’ person in America into not voting for or supporting Barack Obama. Now we have Perry, with his filthly racist FAMILY retreat.. something thus named for DECADES.. and yet it just doesn’t seem to be that big a deal.. and why hasn’t he been asked to remove himself as a candidate? And frankly why has it been okie doke for him to represent the people of Texas as their governor when a portion of that population is AA. I do not believe this has been a well kept secret- certainly not in Texas, it’s just that someone decided to make it known to the entire country.. will media attack him around the clock for it?? doubtful.
Interesting choice of words in how Perry said the name of the camp didn’t go in “the modern world.” Apparently, the name wasn’t painted over until the 1980s. I didn’t know the time before that was “the ancient world.” So, Perry, was that word “okay” in the ancient world in Texas?
Yeah, I think we’ve all had Mr. Perry pegged from the get-go. I fully expect theres a lot more to learn of his racist leanings, including his family history.
Have we all given real thought to the meaning of naming one’s HUNTING cabin such a name? There is a mindset here that ought to be clearly evident imo.
No, the media may be forced to report it briefly. But only Democrats get dumped on repeatedly and without mercy for lesser errors. The media belongs to the R’s. Expect nothing from them. We have to be our own media.
I don’t think Perry has a chance after this got out. If he does win the nomination, he will have a hard time debating PBO the First Black President. Bdw I don’t think he would win the nomination anyway…but I understand you point on the double standard.
No he gets a pass for being a white republican male.
yes indeed, we can count on that, from the media at least, and certainly from the republican/gop folks.. dems need to be speaking out about this.

5 Questions on ‘n—erheadgate’ (or if you prefer, ‘Ranchgate’)
===============================================
It takes a lot to shock this cynical political junkie, but I’ve got to admit, I was floored by “N–gerhead.” If you’ve been too busy watching football this weekend to pay attention, that’s the name of the ranch Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s family leases for hunting parties and such. Perry says his father changed the name decades ago when they bought the place. About a dozen people who talked to the Washington Post beg to differ. It’s a pretty ugly scandal, which is worse for Perry because of its simplicity. It’s his ranch. It’s called “N–gerhead.” Any questions?
So here are my five questions about what happens next…

thanks Ladyhawke
RICK PERRY WILL NEVER,EVER HAVE A CHANCE AGAINST OUR PRESIDENT. TRUTH AND JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL AND HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL!
I saw this written on somone’s dirty car “NO NEW TEXANS”. I gave the driver a thumbs up and she smiled back.
Love it Jo!!!!!
What has crossed my mind is that the information about Rick Perry that is coming to light indicates a power struggle between the Bush/Rove cartel and the Perry contingent. Perhaps Perry isn’t as controllable as others and Romney is the chosen one for the time being. Anyway, Perry has been governor for a long time and none of this has surfaced on a national level. At the same time, I agree with the double standard of coverage compared to Reverend Wright. No question.
The MSM is going to soft-pedal this, so we need to hammer it home. His people are saying that the name was changed in the 1980’s like that makes it OK. It wasn’t THAT long ago and that word has ALWAYS been offensive. Perry and his ilk need to understand that they don’t get a pass for this kind of racism.
All I heard this morning on the drive in to work was soft-pedalling of this scandal - and that was on NPR! They are trying their darndest to make this a non-issue, and say that people should wait for all the facts to come in before making a judgement, and that if people make too much of a fuss, it may just work in Perry’s favor as the victim in all this. I was shocked!
Sad & disgusting what NPR has become theo.
Rev Al is discussing this on his show today.. especially about how Cain is taking the criticism & not so much Perry- expected of course, Perry gets a pass by media and others.
also the lack of support in Congress by dems for the AJA.
Also, good news, folks are beginning to get hot about the wallstree protests & thus are planning to get out to the varied sites and register voters. Rev Al’s march is also coming up in October and it will be alllll about JOBS!
This is Rove’s dirty work (or clean, depending how you look at it)
The establishment Repubs want Perry out and are the ones driving this.
But I think this story will actually give a boost to Perry - I suspect most in the party don’t see anything at all wrong with that rock. They feel that just because some Black people say that word, it’s pk for everyone.
We’ll see how this story flies. I know it won’t be near the breathless coverage Rev. Wright got.
A word on a rock, that is painted over, is not gonna make what’s in a persons heart disappear. IT is so deep that IT is part of the dna of some. i’m reminded of the autobiography of Sammy Davis Jr. “Yes I Can” where he recounts and incident he had in the U.S. Army.
It started with the “n” word and Sammy proceeded to thump on the guy. Sammy prevailed and as he stood over the bloody soldier he uttered through bloody lips, “You’re still a nigger.”
So a little paint ain’t gonna get it done.
Absolutely correct Yardarm. There is NO excuse for such deplorable racist epithets. That he would consciously lease a ranch for years with such a racially offensive slur is reprehensible and he is a vile creature.
