morning ;-)

The Obama campaign announced in an email this morning that the president’s reelection effort and the Democratic National Committee raised a combined $70 million in the third quarter of the year:

— In the third fundraising quarter of this year, 606,027 people donated to this campaign — even more than gave in the record-breaking previous quarter.

— Those people gave more than 766,000 total donations – 98 percent of them $250 or less, at an average amount of $56. That’s more than twice as many donations than we had at this point in the historic 2008 campaign.

— We are focused on building infrastructure that will help us win in 2012. And each quarter we set a combined goal for the campaign and our allies at the Democratic National Committee. We far exceeded our goal of $55 million this quarter between the two organizations. Great work.

— Together, Obama for America and the DNC raised more than $70 million. And it all happened during a summer when the President was focused on doing the job he was elected to do — a summer when we had to cancel a series of fundraising events and ask everyone to dig a little deeper.

The Obama campaign raised $42.8 million on its own and the DNC took in $27.3 million, an Obama campaign official said.

The announcement follows an $86 million second quarter for Obama and the DNC, and sets up the president to outraise by far the whole GOP field, combined, in back to back fundraising periods.

Great news chips. Still better is close to a million donors. The real base loves him.

Morning amk, great news to wake up to! After the President had to skip all those fundraisers I never thought the figure would be that high. 606,027 donors? Excellent!

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! $70 million; when our goal was just $55 million. :D It’s a beautiful day. Suck it GOP; no matter how much obstruction you throw his way, he just keeps knocking you down. Suck it GOPolitico for predicting – as usual – that PBO would fall far short of $55M. Suck it Scarborough; who’s been on a malicious tear against PBO this morning. Suck it GOP ClownCarCrazies; when our guy gets into the race full time, he’ll wipe the floor with you sorry sickos. Suck it GOPMedia, why? ——> Karma is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch.

I watched the interview last night on Maddow’s show about the new Suskind book. How can I put my reaction into words? First I should say that one of the best things about our President is his learning curve so I know he is rapidly acquiring expertise all time on doing this extraordinarily difficult job and it shows. However, the discussion last night suggested that now that the President is being considered for a more favorable ranking in the liberal pundit approval ratings, it just has to be all about his finally listening and doing what he was being told to do all along. No mention was given that the facts on the ground have changed, no self awareness that the pundits themselves are terribly fickle and reactionary, and definitely no acknowledgement of the incredibly difficult things he has managed to accomplish while he was in their dog house. Its like, if he meets their litmus test, they might condescend to support him.

On the other hand I really really liked Rachel’s segment on the “other” that the Republicans seem to have time for. That was brilliant and should go viral as far as I’m concerned.

For some strange reason the PL thought they purchased a president. Remember last year’s cliché, “I have buyer’s remorse”? I haven’t watched Rachel since Rev. Al got a show. You have to keep positive and fired up because these wackadoodles in the media and congress can bring you down.

And horrible, disingenuous Chuck Todd on his daily doom and gloom report on the Today Show, always negatively spinning, said that not only can Obama not get the Repubs to vote for his jobs act, he can’t even get the Democrats to vote for it, forgetting to mention that it was all Dems BUT TWO who voted for it. Yesterday Ann Curry, while interviewing Biden, said that a “majority” of Dems did not support the jobs bill. So much misleading and false information is being slung out there. Viewers who don’t pay attention like we do are hearing completely dishonest sound bites.

Yes upChuck Todd needs a whole watermelon shoved up his lower orifice. Yesterday he snarkily tweeted that PBO was taking the S.Korean President to a Korean restaurant, which is like the Korean President taking PBO to a Morton’s in South Korea. My mother went to Boston for two weeks, most Obama supporters have no clue what he has accomplished up there.
Thus, when he starts to campaign, he needs to inform them, maybe surprise them,

When you have a guest in town, how out of the realm of reality is it to imagine this conversation:

No surprise there. When in doubt take credit for someone else’s achievements. I suppose they took credit for the 600,000 donors this quarter considering they don’t canvass or phone bank.

It burns their britches watching a successful President who could not care less what they say or think.

Here we have a grown man. A grown man with a family. A grown man who came a very long way in a very short time and these bobble heads treat him like he is some child. Like some “boy king” that is being raised by his elders. I’m tired of it. I’m tired of the ‘oh we just want to help be a better president’. How would they do that exactly when they’ve never even ran for office? Bill Clinton don’t even say crap like that. You’re right Linda. I flipped to various news outlet and no one is reporting that he was only predicted to raise $55M and far surpassed expectations by raising $70M and that “606,027 people donated to this campaign — even more than gave in the record-breaking previous quarter and those people gave more than 766,000 total donations.” They also aren’t reporting that small donors really came out front and center for President Obama and unlike the NYT piece of crap article he’s not losing his base and he’s certainly not losing small donors. It must be a case of sour grapes and jealous feelings. No matter how much they try to tear President Obama down, he keeps rising up like a phoenix. I’ve been sending tweets to them and basically telling them to SUCK IT. Feels good. :D Here’s a sample:

Barack Obama in trouble with Democrats? Um, no.

    Collapse of the emoprogs?

    ====================

So what does that mean? It means that the Smiley/West/Sirota/Greenwald/PCCC/FDL crowd is failing at its prime directive: peeling Democrats away from Obama, so they can steer them to a third party candidate, or generate a primary challenge. So for at least, a solid majority of Democrats are sticking with the president.

I quickly scanned through the comments and towards the end, I saw a comment which caught my attention. The comment was from AAMOM (an Obama supporter) and she was expressing curiosity over her observation that a lot of new trolls suddenly joined Old Orange on September 17th and that Markos should look into it. Well, the Sept 17th date caught my eye – know why? That was the exact date that the original OWS folks in Adbusters proposed to start the protests!!!

I think it’s pretty ironic that Perry actually did what Blago threatened to do but never did, and Blago’s facing a 30 yr. prison sentence, and Perry’s running for president. Lots of quid pro quo, graft and corruption in Perry’s Texas, as he became a wealthy man while governor.

Not one dime exchanged hands with Blago. Not one job was awarded. Not one. But a Democratic governor, who I admit was a little weird, is facing the rest of his life in prison. Despicable.

Blago did a great deal for SCHIP, including poor parents who were able to afford health care. He did a lot for animal rights issues. He was a jerk when it came to playing the political game, and what passes for Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly is nothing more than Daley-esque political thuggery.

    • 72 hopefruit2
      October 13, 2011 at 9:16 am

The point is they may have raised “a lot” but how much came from individual small donors? Most likely, that “a lot” came from corporate sources that are not going to be identified any time soon. In addition, how much did each individual GOP candidate raise? PBO raised ~42 million..I think Rick Perry raised the most @ ~ $17 million in 49 days (I’m sure most coming from wealthy evangelicals). Mitt Romney is expected to raise ~18 million (and he was campaigning/fundraising ALL the time, not governing like our President.) Furthermore, Romney is now the “Wall Street” guy, so let’s see how many small donors he got relative to President Obama, who’s average donation amount was $56.

  19. October 13, 2011 at 9:00 am

    but but but but…

That CBS hack Mark Knoller on Monday October 10th tweeted this

// Still awaiting Obama Campaign release of its fundraising total for the July-Sept 3rd quarter. Expected to be less than $87-million in Q2. //

Today – CRICKETS from him on the fundraising issue.

I guess he’s waiting to receive his “instruction” on how to spin it as bad news for the President, as are all the other MSM hacks. The President WELL exceeded his combined goal of $50 million. He even exceeded the NUMBER of small donors that he had in the 2nd quarter. It will take more than 24 hours to come up with a way to spin this as a negative – hence the silence in the media up to now.

    • October 13, 2011 at 11:49 am

there is no way that Herman Cain will siphon off votes from AA from PBO! No way. I believe I read that Obama has a 96% rating from AA and Herman Cain has 4%.

Don’t believe the hype. The ONLY AA Cain will ever get against PBO are the 5 Black Republicans left (all of which are probably strategist).

Besides, GOP like Cain cause it proves that the GOP can’t possibly be racist, since “hey look, we like Cain and he’s our kinda of Black fella”.

I will say it again, what is the upside to making Cain the VP or nominee. The GOP ain’t getting Black people to vote ’cause they put a “brutha” on the ticket (Obama’s got that sewn, I saw a poll that said Obama vs Cain was 96% for Obama for Black votes). I don’t think Cain is a dumb guy. I actually think he is way smarter than Bachmann/Perry/Palin combined. But it’s obvious once you look past the exterior, that Cain has no idea what he’s talking about. He seems, IMHO, to be running a con on the GOP who after Obama, Michael Steele so don’t want to be deemed racist.

      Oh…and they hate Romney too!

It’s the more like that those same white Dems who were resistant to Obama for some mysterious reason (racism!) are the ones who may think hey, “one brutha is the same as another”…

What really ticks me off is the DNC gave Sen. Ben Nelson aka turncoat, $240,000 towards his campaign ads. He’s not a democrat so let him ask the GOP for money. Nelson needs to be voted out in 2012!!
