Oh that was so wonderful & touching.. we never hear about the good people, the involvement for years and years of their lives- just doing the right thing for the rest of us. I was so moved by this and by their obvious affection for the President I love & respect so much.
Great news about Gaddafhi. Personal day for me today and just getting back home. I had to turn on FOX news to see how they were spinning the news of Gaddafhi’s death. They are talking about VP Biden’s remarks about the jobs bill helping keep law enforcement on the street to avoid crime from going up.
I should have known the right wing were spinning because I just heard a question asked at Jay’s press conference about exactly the same thing. The reporters are so predictable in pushing the republican agenda.
Haha…Ed Henry strikes again! So, remember, he quoted Mitt Romney in a question to the president, and today, he’s quoting Marco Rubio in a question to Jay Carney. He’s literally asking a question by saying “respond to this Rubio b.s. quote. He’s not even coming up with his own questions! This is evidence of someone who is either: a) dumb, b) in the tank for the righties, or c) both.
Basically Rubio said some nonsense about how the US didn’t play a leading role, this was all due to Europe, not the US. So Ed asked Carney to respond. Carney basically said that now is not the time for that, we should be satisfied with the outcome. He mentioned that Rubio did praise the US troops in his statement, so I guess that was Carney’s way of saying that Rubio wasn’t all down on the US in his statement.
How they imagine repeating republican talking points is a question is beyond me. Getting the President’s response to every stupid thing that comes out of a repugs mouth is hardly what the American people “need to know” or even care about.

April Ryan needs to sit down and STFU. If the Libyan intervention had had a different outcome, she would have pounded PBO forever. This is a victory for the Libyan people and for PBO who chose wise diplomacy and strategy rather than the “going in with guns blazing” the GOP prefers–the one that failed so miserably in Iraq. Ryan is not a long term thinker. Sometimes in order to have a more lasting peace, one has to get rid of the stumbling blocks that stand in the way. OBL and Gaddafi were two of those stumbling blocks. If a robber with a gun were threatening her family, would she stand there with a gun in hand and not use it to restore her family’s peace of mind? She’d pull that trigger, and she knows she would. She’s not being honest or naive, she’s trying to start another vicious smear about PBO.
I also think it’s funny Rubio and his GOP brethren called Libya “Obama war in Libya” and yet are pretty quick to dismiss this as a “French and European” win ONLY.
BTW, I happened to catch Karen Finney on Dylan Ratigan show (not too long though can’t stand Dylan), and I gotta say, I’m glad she was not named Press Secretary. She is not effective at all. I know being on TV and being Pres Sec are 2 different things, but still she is NOT forcible enough at pushing back. Maybe she would have been different as Pres Sec, but IDK….
She wastes half of her response time on ‘agreeing’ with Republicans with ‘they all do it’ or some such nonsense, while the Republican shill is talking over her. She is the kind of pundit that gives Democratic messaging a bad name.
I’m really sick of it. I know I’ll get a barrage of “the media won’t let us speak” but too many of our spokespeople still suck. Some of it is better under DWS and Steve Israel but not up to the same force and energy and focus of Republicans.

(According to comedian Sarah Silverman, he’s a real ‘thoroughbred’). But I’m inclined to agree with Fred that we shouldn’t worry too much—FLOTUS got that! I think it’s kinda funny the way some of us here at TOD (my married self included) get jealous when “other” women try to get close POTUS.

I’d imagine Romney would drop this attack now, but I suppose one never knows with that guy.

Just beneath the wide assumption that Marco Rubio would be offered the Republican vice presidential nomination has always been a wavelet of chatter from Florida Republicans that he had feet of clay.
And this, well, isn’t good:

There’s a lot of issues re. Rubio which would be coughed up again. I remember all kinds of misdeeds with the Fl. Repub Party credit card—-family trips, replacing carpet in his home, lots of wine stops at the local wine shop, groceries, car lease payments etc. etc. etc. He had a bit of a Palin type grifter reputation there until the Repub Party decided to elevate him to senate candidate status and lots of stuff got swept under the rug.

He interviews a latina who formerly was a recruiter of hispanics for the GOP but has now left the party due to their anti-immigrant rhetoric. She blasts Rubio in the video — saying that he is hypocritical because he and his family took advantage of government programs in order to get here and stay here, but then he turns around and supports the most vile anti-immigrant legislation and rhetoric.
I just don’t know what the deal is with these self-hating AAs and hispanics that stay in the GOP. It takes a different mind.
Rubio’s complimenting the French will come back to haunt him. Republicans hate the French…..of course, we owe our freedom from Britain in great part to the French fleet and Lafayette…..but they never admit that. I think President Sarkozy is much more concerned with his new daughter today than this.
