Let’s do it again
Win With Women
Not an actual Huffy Post headline ….. but give them another day
We’re volunteering tomorrow for the day of action. I hope everyone can find time to do so, even if it’s just making phone calls.
I heard this very encouraging story on the local SF news
MicroBranch Bank Helps “little guy” endorsed by Catholic Church
it is nice to see the silicon valley heavy hitters helping and good that the Church took a stand.
Nice to see good news, with everybody getting involved – for social justice!
Wow WIW, that’s powerful. Thanks for sharing this amazing story.
Apparently Jon Huntsman is now exploiting his daughters for political gain ala Scott Brown:
ain’t that the truth . . .
“Romney will do whatever he can to be President, and everyone knows that,” Abby said.
When I first started reading this article, it sounded a little interesting and I was worried that maybe they could end up using this account (the daughters’ twitter account) as an effective tool. But the more I read the article, the more I realized that this sounds like a liability for Jon Huntsman. First, the girls are completely out of control. Second, the article shows Huntsman as a complete opportunist, even going so far as to admit that he was more concerned about “the most important day of his life” being ruined than the safety of his daughter when she awoke to what she describes as “a pimp and two hookers” in her hotel room (note: he characterized the day President Obama nominated him for the China Ambassadorship as the “most important day of his life”). The daughters sound sweet and normal, but the article isn’t going to do Huntsman any favors.
Plus, nothing can counter the fact that he’s a disloyal, lying backstabber who isn’t offering anything different from the rest of the Republicans running for President – and he wholeheartedly endorsed Paul Ryan’s plan to kill Medicare.
The fact that Huntsman is DEAD LAST in polling shows how ineffective he’s been as a candidate. He can’t get any traction within the Republican Party and is pulling a Scott Brown using his daughters. He’s effectively done for 2012, possibly 2016 as well. He won’t be able to pull a Romney and run again in the future expecting more traction than he’s getting now. By this point in 2008, Romney was the frontrunner until the primaries began and McCain pulled far ahead. Huntsman went too soon for his political ambitions, and it’s come back to bite him, hard, and using his daughters shows how shallow he is. I’m just waiting for him to echo Scott Brown and parade them for dating… it’s sick how these Republican men think of women as objects as opposed to human beings, but I digress.
I’m not that surprised at Huntsman’s lack of good judgement. He was advised by (jealous) John McCain to get into the race now.The same John McCain who foisted Sarah Palin on the world. I hope Huntsman’s political career is finished.
I heard an article on NPR last night that Gary Locke (former Cabinet Secretary, now Huntsman’s replacement as Ambassador to China) is enjoying rock star celebrity status in China. They love him over there. Unlike Huntsman, who was only interested in improving his family’s business prospects in China, Gary Locke really wants to do well. The people trust him, and they’re proud of his Chinese heritage. Huntsman has lost out on all counts – and I’m sure the Chinese think he’s a sell-out, too.
Huntsman has good hair and is the media’s idea of a good-looking R. That gives him a future, if nothing else as a pundit. Or future chair of the RNC.
Since he’s considered a moderate and has the good fortune to have worked for President Obama, I’m not sure they’ll let him be a future chair of the RNC.But, he can definitely be a credible pundit, if he ever decides whether he’s moderate or a tea party person.
An RNC chairmanship will be considered a bone thrown to the moderates as perhaps the first step away from Crazytown. I see him as being the second coming of Marc Racicot. We’ll see.
conlakappa, Excuse me but I don’t see Huntsman good looks.
Lol about the good hair comment.
I hope you are all correct. I keep having this recurring nightmare that all the crazy Repubs suddenly organize and throw all their support and votes to Huntsman. I keep thinking the Repubs have a secret plan up their sleeves. I am having trouble believing that they are so unorganized. They usually walk lock step together. Please everyone assure me it is just a nightmare and could not possibly happen.
I agree with you Cindy. Something is not right.
One daughter awoke to ‘a pimp’ in her room and pretended to be asleep, yet when he left she did not lock the door securely, giving him the opportunity to return with ‘two hookers”??!!
Ha! This is a curious statement, indeed. And the father had no comment, except to say that she had ruined the most important day of his life! Wow.
All this to get 2 percent.
LOL. very funny! I read through half the article and must say it comes off as very fake. I heard valley girl (dating myself) and I just don’t believe them. Too cutesie by half. Another fake and phoney!
I can’t get past his wife, way to much plastic surgery evident which I never see as a healthy sign.
Cspan is having a live debate tonight against Gingrich and Cain.
The sponsors have announced that Cain’s harassment problens cannot be discussed.
Might as well. Between Gingrich and Cain they could spend all night talking about who their ill-treatment of women. Go figure.
The Newter cares, y’all. He and his wife were in a D.C.-area diner this past week. He was the only goober in a suit, which was noted but not mocked a la candidate Obama asking for juice in a diner. The Gettin’-riches are regular people and stuff!
I sent you an interesting email. Please check it out.
Notice how any time these folks want to peddle their wares, they have to use PBO to do it (i.e., Clinton, Tweety, Suskind, etc.) What they don’t get is that some of us will never pay not even a penny for what they’re selling.
Not even a penny! Well said.
Bravo, Africa! I am with you 100%. I love to read but I will not spend “a penny” buying books by the people who are trying to make money, peddling lies and mythology, at the expense of President Obama.
That is a beautiful and touching video Chipsticks – thank you!
I’ve been traveling, driving across the country, not having consistent access to the internet, so I was way behind when I finally had some time and a good connection. So I settle down to catch up on the week, starting with Halloween, when TODville was invaded by a fascinating array of emoprogs, and ending yesterday, when the entire population of TODville was on the naughty mat. HEE-larious as one of my nephews says. To take a line from Chips, I’m just now stitching up my sides. Kind of hard to get back to real news.
And happy birthday to everyone. I’ve never seen so many Scorpios in one place!
I don’t know how you managed to catch up on so much, so quickly! I wasn’t travelling at all, and I’m finding myself struggling to keep up with all the wonderful pictures and posts. Of course, taking up permanent residency on the naughty mat/house/island will probably free up a few hours in the day. I started the day saying I’d just quickly check into TOD and see what’s up, and I’m still here. My errands are still waiting…
Theo, have you noticed that once you check into TOD, you can’t even find time to check anywhere else (except for brief forays after the shared links)? I’d love to know what Chips and her chosen minions put into the TOD water!
These days I personally try to do what MUST be done BEFORE actually signing in, because I just know the rest will be pushed aside until a ‘later’ that never comes. That life book I was supposed to be doing before peeking in this past Thursday still has not been started! First I ‘peeked in’ for so long that there wasn’t enough time to finish and deliver it, and once I determined that, I figured I had a whole week before I need worry about it again. My personal character test is to see if it will get done for next Thursday.
This is a good tip- however, I always trick myself by saying I’ll just take a quick peek to see what’s happening in the world, and then I’m ruined for the rest of the day. Once in a while, I actually have to tear myself away to get some work done at work, but usually, I’m able to prioritize and spend the day on TOD. I managed to get about one hour of errands done today – which I consider progress.
I console myself with the thought that I’ll need stuff to do in 2016, after President Obama is not required to appear in public so often, and I’m suffering withdrawals. I also assume that there will be one or two days over Christmas this year when he’s sequestered with his family, when I’ll be able to tend to urgent matters. Otherwise, I’m on Obama duty.
‘I console myself with the thought that I’ll need stuff to do in 2016,’ I love your consolation! and rationale so much I intend to borrow it!
Vcprezofan2 & Theo67: I thought I was the only one who was so addicted to spending way too much time on this blog trying to read all the magnificent comments and the shared links.
Perry just said at an Iowa conference- I will propose across the board pay freeze in all federal agencies except for the military.
Gee, I wonder who has actually DONE this?
Ahh, that be President Obama! Yup!
Always running behind….what else is new?
Did anyone point out to him that the pay freeze is already in place? What more freezing can he do?
Nope! It’s awful when obamacrats are the most informed in the political arena.
Does the pay freeze includes those do nothing Congress and Senate members?
I wish! That would be the surest way to get action, I think.
If I had any power to do so, I would refuse to pay those members of Congress who are killing the jobs’ bills. They don’t deserve any pay when millions of Americans are unemployed and loosing their homes.
Echoes of Perry taking credit for all those jobs created by the stimulus signed into law by President Obama. Is Perry going to take credit for killing Osama bin Laden and all those top Al Qaeda deputies as well?
Well, duh, he and the Previous Occupant were on the same team, whose top people now claim that President Obama was successful by continuing their policies. If A = B and B= C, it stands to reason that A = C!
Chipsticks, you’ve posted this Senator Obama video before and again, I am reminded of how CONSISTENT Barack Obama is in his thought process regarding the middle class.
Thank you for the re-post!
The 99%ers would do well to remember that this President has consistently fought for the 99%, and in fact, he’s fighting for the whole country’s future. Any speech he’s ever given that speaks about the people of this country touches on his concern for the disappearing middle class, the need to create opportunities for the poor to climb into the middle class and to strengthen those already in the middle class, and to build in fairness at all levels so that those who are successful can participate in pulling others up the same ladders and making this country’s success sustainable. Even in his book “Audacity of Hope”, this common theme runs through, and that was long before he ever entertained the idea of politics.
Excellent comment theo67! I am sorry, I still don’t buy this movement that claims to represent the vast majority of the people but is not willing to organize and vote to kick out those who espouse the interests of the 1%. May be it’s me, but I still don’t get it as to how the OWS thinks they can advance the interests of the so called 99% without electing people to public office, especially Congress and the presidency, to implement their agenda. Something doesn’t add up with this movement. By the way, and here my age may be showing, I really get turned off, and irritated, by the robotic repetition by the crowd followers of every single word that their anointed speaker, in any given setting, is saying. And these are some of the people who have the nerve to call us “obots” because we support an intelligent and hard working President.
Rick Scott recent Suffolk poll at 29% approval/
So, Senator Nelson is going after him hard-
Me thinks, the President can do the same!
All President Obama has to do is visit Florida, point out how Lord Voldemort Scott rejected high speed rail which would have created many jobs in that state, and Obama wins. Also, the Rubio flack over lying about his family won’t help Republicans there either.
I’d say Bill Nelson should go after both Scott and Rubio, they’ve both been epic failures for the Florida GOP.
Like Scott Walker rejected high speed rail……
As I’m watching the first video, I think to myself…..what has this man done to usher in so much venom and hate and total disrepect? He doesn’t have an ounce of evilness or hatred towards another human being yet he is constantly being belittled, bullied, and bashed for trying to save this country. I’m not a hater but I truly hate what this man has had to endure these past 3 years. Shame on the American people who are so hateful.
The hate from the right wing is almost completely based on the fact that he defied the odds and became the first African American President of the United States, look no further than Ann Coulter and her “our blacks are better than their blacks” comment.
The hate from the emoleft is that he isn’t taking political advice from them, and is succeeding despite that. A lot of the emoleft are Hillary PUMAS STILL bitter that Barack didn’t bow out and let Hillary take the nomination. Many others are Naderites whining about third parties, and others are Libertarians more concerned with legalizing weed than taking care of the economy. A lot of the emoleft pundits whom I defended in 2008 I’ve lost respect for: Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore, Arianna Huffington, Markos Moulistas, Glenn Greenwald, to name a few, all because they’ve shown their true colors as political opportunists wanting to make a fast buck off of those whom they supposedly feign concern about. I’ve also gained a lot of respect for Al Sharpton, having watched his show and reporting the bare facts about how the Republicans and the emoleft Democrats want to obstruct this President to make him a one term President. This President’s tenure in office truly has changed a lot of people: some for the better, some for the worse.
Your words are so accurate and reflect my thoughts exactly.
What you have to remember is that the problem lies with the people who go out of their way to hate, spew venom or whatever they do. It is their inner core that is rotten and for some, hence the projection. PBO remains true to himself, a decent man filled with humanity and humility.
Imagine this: Most of the Republican leaders professed to be what PBO truly is. Here he comes along and lives what they only imagined that they could be with their pseudo actions. They claimed to have the market cornered on family values, but then we found out that they were anything but, with their multiple divorces (nothing wrong with being divorced), infidelities, etc. He lives what they have only hoped to be and never will.
The same can be said for many, many people on the left. They’ve called him aloof, elitist, arrogant, etc. All of these people I see are trying to project their own characters and qualities (or there lack off) on to PBO.
And so what they do, they turn their ugliness on him. But he is secured in himself and refuses to buy into their negativity. That is the hell that they live in. He doesn’t give them an inch. That my friends, can be maddening, for people desperately seeking some, any kind of attention.
Tweety, are you listening?
‘He [PBO] doesn’t have an ounce of evilness or hatred towards another human being ‘
Lonnie, you need look no further for your answer!
There has been this hate forever in this country. It’s just so out in the open since we have President Obama. He is doing so many things so so well.
He is a real leader who learned as a little boy how to deal with hate. He makes me work harder to be his messenger to all – We The People.
Thank you so much, Lonnie, for saying so well everything I feel. Something is terribly wrong in this country when the so called left joins the lunatic right and the shameless mainstream media to demonize and denigrate one of the best presidents in my life time. I really appreciate Chipsticks for now and then taking us back to “memory lane,” because it helps us not only realize how consistent President Obama has been in his views and his values, but it also re-affirms why many of us are still fiercely supporting him.
Hey…look at this:)
SHAME ON AMERICANS WHO DO NOT SEE THE GOOD,COMPASSION,INTEGRITY AND GRACE IN THIS PRESIDENT! HOPE WILL PREVAIL AND YES WE WILL DO IT AGAIN IN 2012! GOD BLESS OUR AMAZING PRESIDENT! WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE HIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
Great video. It’s really hard for me to watch the 2008 clips where Obama was elected. I can’t put into words — just seeing it makes me cry.
I truly love our president and will work hard to see him reelected.
Actually Chips, went over to HuffyFluffy and their big headline currently is: BANKS!!!!
It seems Arianna’s two biggest gripes are President Obama and bankers. I’ll never forget all of the animosity she and others expressed over there over Geithner, Summers, and how they attacked President Obama as “catering to Wall Street” just because he took Geithner/Summers advice… but at the same token, they defend fat slob Michael Moore, even though he’s been thoroughly exposed as funding his films using a production company that has taken money from Wall Street and Goldman Sachs! Their hypocrisy knows no bounds and I am so glad NOT to be posting over there anymore!
What the bankers did is better than what Arianna did to her own non-paid employees when she sold them out for hundreds of millions of dollars. She doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
Arianna and others criticize Geithner/Summers but fail to realize that it is necessary to have people who understand Wall Street to control and understand it. Geithner will go down as a great Treasury Secretary.
This. The PL to this day can’t bring themselves to admit that under the most extreme circumstances Geitner got most of it right.
Hey today is “Move Your Money” day. I caught this article yesterday and tweeted about it
650,000 Americans Joined Credit Unions Last MONTH — More Than In All Of 2010 Combined http://thkpr.gs/vP7iOg via @thinkprogress
That’s a lot of ka-ching. I wonder how many more made the move today?
BTW NINTENDO YOO HOO – love the kitty kat! it’s Kewt!
That kitty kat is your very own Puss in Boots from Shrek!!! Haven’t yet seen the Puss in Boots movie, but it looks good!
And Geithner saved the global economy all the while the GOP were blocking his nominees – he was working around the clock, knowing how dire the circumstances were, with pretty much no help. All the while, Arianna was raking in the millions, and doing nothing to help anyone.
Bravo theo for speaking TRUTH!
It’s Saturday. Thought we needed a chuckle. Hope this posts:)
One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt.
> Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, ‘What
> setting do I use on the washing machine?’
>> ‘It depends,’ I replied. ‘What does it say on your shirt?’
>> He yelled back, ‘ OHIO STATE !’
>>>> And they say blondes are dumb….
>> A couple is lying in bed. The man says, ‘I am going to make you the
> happiest woman in the world…’
>> The woman replies, ‘I’ll miss you…… ‘.
‘It’s just too hot to wear clothes today,’ Jack says as he stepped out of
> the shower. ‘Honey, what do you think the neighbors would think if I mowed
> the lawn like this?’
>> ‘Probably that I married you for your money,’ she replied.
Q: What do you call an intelligent, good looking, sensitive man?
>> A: A rumor
>> Dear Lord,
>> I pray for wisdom to understand my man;
>> love to forgive him; and patience for his moods.
>> because, Lord, if I pray for strength, I’ll beat him to death.
>> Q: Why do little boys whine?
>> A: They are practicing to be men.
>> Q: What do you call a handcuffed man?
>> A: Trustworthy
>> Q: What does it mean when a man is in your bed gasping for breath and
> calling your name?
>> A: You did not hold the pillow down long enough.
Q: Why do men whistle when they are sitting on the toilet?
>> A: It helps them remember which end to wipe.
Q: How do you keep your husband from reading your e-mail?
A: Rename the email folder ‘instruction manuals’
While creating husbands, God promised women that
> good and ideal husbands would be found in all corners of the world………
>> ……Then He made the earth round.
I hope the guys here have a sense of humor! I’ve been married for nearly 31 years…to the same guy… I tell him the reason that we’ve been married so long is because I have such a damn good sense of humor! We laugh WITH each other:)
These are funny! I hope no-one takes offense, but they’re funny.
I thought they were funny:) Hope the guys here have a sense of humor….
LOVE those jokes. my husband was laughing his ass off reading them. Thanks, we needed cheering up as we have had the evening from hell.
Going to pick up my son from my parents house my good for nothing car decided to die on me on an unlit road in the middle of nowhere. The cell phone was acting up intermittently and despite being charged earlier in the day was on low battery. We called out roadside rescue and waited 1 1/2 hours in the freezing cold. I am pissed off as it is not economically viable to repair and as with most people we are not able to buy another one. Ugggg!!!! Still thank God for this site to come to where we can share a laugh and our love for PBO.
What a horrible night! Glad you got home safely, Sam, and found a laugh waiting for you.
Sorry you had such a bad day today:( Glad my jokes gave you a laugh:)
We have a sense of humor alright. Hopefully there will be some reciprocity in the offing
Halfway through I was thinking about a reciprocal list too.
Hey, desertflower, I am a guy and I thought all the jokes were hilarious! I just couldn’t stop laughing. There are many reasons why I enjoy coming to this site. First, I think that Ms. Chipsticks, and the vast majority of people who post here, are smart, passionate, and serious people who are about analyzing important issues and supporting this good intelligent man we elected President. So you see, I know for certain the the women of the TOD family cannot be accused of being men haters when they are passionate about President Obama. The Second reason why I love this site is that people have a great sense of community, supporting one another during difficult times, and celebrating with each other on happy occasions such as birthdays, people getting jobs, and news of people whose health has improved. But, I must confess, the third reason I come to this site is to have fun. I just love all the people who post here, especially our host, who have such a great sense of humor. So, desertflower (I love your name) thanks for having fun at the expense of us guys. Hopefully, one of the men on this site will raise to the challenge and dish it back to gals.
No offence at all desertflower….I had a big laugh reading them! – and u know what, I actually turned a few of them around against the ladies and posted to my friends…it’s all fun.
Oh lordy…..those are funny!!!!!! Thanks!
O/T: My husband did a CureSearch Ultimate Hike today (CureSearch is a major fund raising organization for childhood cancer.) He hiked 28.3 miles……the oldest hiker there (out of 40+)…..did it in 9:57. So far, he has raised $5180 w/few more commitments to come in. He is rooming w/a man from Raleigh who lost his 16 yr. old daughter to cancer 4 yrs. ago. Hubby said they talked and talked and shared and cried last night…….a “God thing” they got put together.
Great story – congratulations to your husband on completing the walk. I’m also planning to do a two-day walking marathon (26.2 miles) next summer for cancer – questioning how I managed to sign myself up to such a thing. But I’m committed – your husband’s story has encouraged me!
Good. I’m glad. Keep us posted next summer.
Lost a church member last year on the day after thanksgiving to cancer. Jordan was only 15. Post the link to your hubby’s donation page and I’ll send a little something in Jordan’s memory.
Oh my…..didn’t expect that response. THANK YOU!!!!!!! http://www.ultimatehike.org/knoxville/davidsmith. You have to key that into your URL. So sorry about Jordan. How is her family coping? For those who don’t remember or don’t know: We lost our 4 yr. old grandson in 2008 to childhood cancer. That’s the reason we are so passionate about this. Next year our daughter has decided to be a part of the 46 Mommas Shave For the Brave and she will shave her head in honor and memory of Walker. That is part of St. Baldrick’s so all our fund raising next year will be for her.
Yes, dessertflower, I am very proud of him. As far as looking at things differently–I believe he is beginning to do that. I sense a change in attitude. We’ll see as time goes on. He doesn’t know that for months I have prayed the same prayer nearly every day: That God will sweep across this country, and begin with him, to open hearts and minds……replace the hate people feel for at least acceptance and tolerance. I believe in the power of prayer. Even after losing Walker, I still believe in the power of prayer. So, we’ll see what time and prayer does, not just to my husband to others as well.
Bless you tnmtgirl….the power of positive thought is a powerful thing. wishing you and your husband all the best. It was a good thing he did.
sending you virtual hugs TN for the loss of your Walker
Oh my goodness tnmtngirl. God bless you, your husband, your daughter and the rest of your family. May Walker be at peace in God’s loving arms.
Thank you for sharing your husband’s donation link. I’m sure you’ll be getting donations from us here at TOD.
You’re very welcome. See that hubby has more than doubled his goal; CONGRATS! I didn’t know that you’d lost your grandson, Walker, to cancer. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Jordan was such a great kid, polite, well mannered, athletic and bright; he’s missed by his family, school mates, church family and community. His family is doing well — they cry and they laugh; they laugh and they cry — their faith in God sees them through.
that’s such wonderful news….maybe he’ll have a different outlook about MANY things, if you know what I mean:) That’s a great thing he did. You must be very proud.
Congratulations to your husband for a job well done. I’ve lost three family members to Cancer. Of course the most devastating is childhood cancer.
that pillow one has me holding my side but Desert they are all funny
Laughing is good medicine! Glad you liked them. Fred!
df, Jay Leno called…..he wants his jokes back! LOL!!!!!
Gee whiz, I laughed out loud! Didn’t know I had it in me today. Thanks, Ms. Desertflower! Your husband must have a great sense of humor, too;-)
I noticed that the “Win with Women” biographies on Barbara Boxer’s PAC don’t mention the health care reform that many of the incumbents helped to pass. In 2012, a lot of those improvements will be known to people, and it’s also a good chance to publicize the many good things being done for families and seniors via the roll out of the health reform. The President will surely be running on health care reform – and he considers it his crowning achievement – rightfully so. These Democrats who are too afraid to counter the Republican lies about health care reform simply feed into the misinformation. Every single one of those incumbents should be shouting about health care reform, and telling people the facts about how their lives will be better with it, or how their lives will be worse without it. The so-called public option or single payer will never come about if Democrats are too chicken to call the Republicans on their lies about what they’ve already accomplished. The President earned many grey hairs over health care reform, and it’s a crime that the Democrats are still running from that tremendous accomplishment.
theo67, the GOP War on Women’s Health link on the page goes further into their support of Health Care Reform. I do admire what Barbara Boxer and these women are attempting to do by joining forces. We have an opportunity to regain Congress and we need more women in the House and the Senate.
I see this as a positive step to support the President Obama’s agenda.
Thanks for calming me down, GG. I am a great supporter of Barbara Boxer(she’s one of my Senators), but when I read those biographies, and noticed the lack of mention of health care reform, I saw red. I’ll go back to the site and read some more.
As a man I must admit, those jokes were FUNNY!!!
Usmc47, I am glad I was not the only man who thought Desertflower’s jokes, at our expense, were really, really funny. Our challenge, as men on this site, is to come up with funny and tasteful jokes to match desertflower. Sadly, I am horrible when it comes to telling, or remembering, jokes. With all the idiotic madness going on around concerning our President, It’s really refreshing to come to a site that makes it possible for us to laugh and have fun while remaining focused on supporting the President.
Arianna is such a dumbass. I really need her thoughts on the little people? Fool? Please.
So this rich white woman Arianna Huff, who hangs around with Newt Gingrinch and her rich friends understands the poor and middle class. I believe that. Not!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone here ever seen this picture before? https://twimg0-a.akamaihd.net/profile_images/1540093263/326466898.jpg
I saw it on someone’s twitter avatar and thought it was pretty clever.
ha. that’s good!
Yeah, i have it as one of my screen savers only mine has a third person on Obama’s right. Malcolm X.
Here’s another version of that idea:
Is anyone here familiar with Italian politics?
I think it contains lots of sexual escapades. Sorry…no.
Desertflower, you are on a roll today! That’s so, so funny.
I have a little bit of knowledge, just because I read the foreign press. Ask me, and I’ll see if I can answer it.
Cool. Do you know anything about Berlusconi’s ideology or his stance on issues? I’m doing a report on Italy’s foreign affairs and such.
If anyone can point me to a good site with this information, it would be appreciated. I googled but there’s so much I don’t know what to look at or look for.
Berlusconi’s party is “Il popolo della liberta”, which translates to “People of Freedom”. It’s a center-right party, but mostly a political vehicle for Berlusconi, when his original party, Forza Italia, disintegrated. Their website is http://www.ilpopolodellaliberta.it/ and if you use Chrome you can translate the Italian to English.
From my observation of the man, he is a class-A narcissist. His ideology is definitely right wing, but don’t confuse that with our right wing. As pro-capitalist as he is, he’s still far to the left of our GOP. Mostly, his ideology is the ideology of Silvio: he will do whatever benefits him.
Allegations of — and prosecutions for — corruption have dogged him for the past two decades. He’s Italy’s Rupert Murdoch, but rather than orchestrate things behind the throne, he decided to run things himself out front. He came to power when Italy’s post-war political order was crumbling under multiple assaults of corruption. Italian governments never lasted long, but were always controlled by the Christian Democrats, in shifting alliances from other parties. By the late 80′s the connections between the CD and the Mafia were too glaring to ignore, and the postwar consensus shattered. That allowed someone like Berlusconi to step in.
As far as foreign affairs go, Italy under Berlusconi takes the US lead on most things. (Witness its jettisoning of its friendship with Gaddafi once PBO decided to act.)
Right now, more and more people have grown tired of Berlusconi’s playboy schtick, especially as its been quite obvious that he doesn’t have the political skill to handle Italy’s own debt problems. (Italy’s total debt is 120% of its GDP.) However, his political obituary has been written before, and he’s still around.
Thank you so much!
I only know that last year berlusconi got bashed in the mouth with a little statue by a protester. I’ve heard that he is not well liked over there. And that’s all I know.
Ok. Need your help. I just got a flyer in the mail that none other than Ben Quayle ( my crappy rep) will be at my son’s high school Tues. night. I’m going. There are SO many things that I could say to him…my mind is racing with questions. I need some suggestions!!! I want to call him out on his obstruction to the AJA..and let it be known to everyone in that auditorium what an ass he is, without the cussing:) (DAMN!)
I need ONE good question to ask him that will back his sorry ass into a corner. HELP!!!!
DF that’s a good one. well. the repubs haven’t passed any jobs legislation for what, 300 plus days now? you could just point that out and then innocently ask when they think they might get around to doing their job.
Hmmmm…….too snarky……..I gotta work on not being so sarcastic……
oh here it is: jobs clock
Did you come up with anything?
No. Actually, I have a million things to ask, but I bet they’ll only allow you one question…it’s a big auditorium. Wonder if he’ll charge us a fee to get in? He was one of those reps that thought it was a good idea to charge their constituents to see them and ask a question….Effing moron. He forgot that HE works for ME! As little work as he does, I should be docking his paycheck!
I need all the suggestions you have…and about the snarky…it’s hard NOT to be, isn’t it?
If you ask why he hasn’t supported the AJA, he’ll probably say because the Repubs have their own bill. Of course, we know it’s crap but you won’t be able to challenge him.
bah ha ha ha
Maybe this is strong enough, but you could challenge him on the weak work schedule that they enjoy this Congress. And my understanding is they will work even fewer days beginning in Jan 2012. Ask him how many meetings he has conducted in his district with his constituents and ask him how much money he made. Then ask him why he was charging his employers to be able to meet with him.
You could also bring a comparison between the 111th and 112th Congress demonstrating their woeful lack of meaningful legislative action.
I read the letter on Heath Schuler’s website that LOD mentioned in a segment Thursday night, Quayle did not sign it so he is still a Norquist toadie.
I’m not sure a question about where are the jobs will work now as the Senate Repubs are saying Harry Reid is stopping their job bills from coming up for a vote. They are all the same old cut regulation, cut taxes, and oil oriented ideas but they are saying the Dems are stopping their job bills. It needs to be a simple idea that does not need a lot of words or back and forth to back it up.
Maybe why they are favoring the 1% over the 99% might work. Most people have caught on to the idea that the 1% is not creating jobs and have only grown richer.
I heard somewhere that Ben and his mother both put pressure on Gov. Jan Brewer to fire the truely independent who was responsible for redrawing the Congressional districts because he/she put two existing Republicans in the same district. She fired the person and it all a big mess in Arizona. Asking him to explain it might put him on the spot.
I’m still trying to piece together the Quayle piece of that puzzle….I want to ask a question that gets maximum bang for the buck…and make people say “Oh no,,,I didn’t know he felt that way!”
Ask him how to spell potato
HA! Good one:)
Good plan to get your answers (and your mind) prepped before the meeting, because once the lies start flying from the GOP, you may get so worked up that you’ll forget what you wanted to say. I want to know why they aren’t having independent economists and analysts assess the so-called GOP plans to tell us how many jobs they will create – right now. And why they are opposed to so many of the ideas that Republicans sponsored and supported in the past. And what they think the people who need help right now are supposed to do while they play politics for the next year. And what the GOP plan to do to catch up to all the other countries that are speeding on ahead with the plans that President Obama laid out (subsidizing the green/renewable technology industries, education reform and focus on science and technology, the mission to Mars (my sister mentioned that an international coalition just completed a two year study on tolerance for the mission to Mars – no US participation), while the GOP continue to play games – it’s going to be nearly impossible to catch up once we fall behind. I could go on.
thanks theo…keep those thoughts coming. I need to prepare. I know that if I was alone on a room with that POS…..
Actually, I really like Bill’s suggestion above about the Jan Brewer scandal. It might be more immediately relevant, and it deserves an answer. They are playing games with people’s right to vote – and I’m sure even the right wingers in the audience might be interested in that answer and listen with open ears. If you’re only allowed one question, that one seems like a good one to use.
By the way…these are all great questions. Like I said in response to Bill…I want the most bang for the buck…I want to either have him admot something he otherwise might not have…or I want him to answer a question and have the audience say to themselves “Oh, I didn’t know he felt that way…that’s not ok with me”
I like the idea of why they are not allowing an independent economic analyst to score their plan also the part about ideas they supported before not being supported now.
Ask him what he had to do with Governor Brewer’s firing of the Independent on the Redistricting Committee……he pressured her to do it.
Gov. Jan Brewer Can’t Explain Her Partisan Political Tampering In Arizona’s Redistricting Process
PBO plays partner, advisor at G-20. Nice story
Reporting from Cannes, France — French President Nicolas Sarkozy convened a select group of European leaders here the other day for a private session in which he welcomed them and then promptly yielded the floor to President Obama.
“He said, ‘What do you think, Barack?’” one Obama advisor said, recounting a meeting in which the U.S. president acted as panel chairman for a group trying to work its way through some messy continental politics.
Nice! And totally understandable. The President is infinitely capable and fair. It probably helped them brainstorm while letting egos remain unruffled. That international group has forged a really good working relationship, it seems.
So much respect working together, a direct contrast to the nonsense we see in this country daily.
He’s just so highly skilled at group dynamics and conflict resolution…these are must-have skills for a community organizer—and a world leader. People of good will know, and so do the people not of good will, that he is world-class.
After looking at these vids, i wonder how many shoes Huff n Puff has tried on along with any of those K street whores? i get very angry when i see the toll this office has taken on the President and how it has aged him. A part of me wishes he’d tell everyone to piss off and spare himself and his family any more pain(ungrateful bastards). But i know he won’t because he has a vision. Unfortunately this vision can’t be put on speed dial so this “my and I” generation can continue to “do their thing” uninterrupted…….DeltaUniformMikeBravo AlphaSierraSierra’s
I was thinking a similar thought Yardarm. I started looking at the first vid and thought “oh my he’s gotten so much grayer”. But I tell you he’s a Timex……
I hear you. But know that the Presidency ages all of them. Look at a picture of Clinton when he entered office and one at the end of his two terms. Even GWB who screwed up royally and vacationed more than any modern President aged. It’s the stress and President Obama has to handle more stressful situations than any President I’ve seen in my somewhat long lifetime. Yes he’s grayer, but my gawd he is fine!
Sorry for the venom. i just hate what i see this job has done to the man.
I hate it, too. And I often wish the same thing about him just getting on with his life – but this IS his life. This is what he worked for, and studied for, and sacrificed for. I think he was better prepared than most people for the ugly that has come out during his presidency. He studied politics, campaigned for Bill Clinton way back when, lived through the Chicago assembly, and fought to become President. He’ll definitely go on to do more and more good in the world, but this is what he needs to be doing right now. I think he even said that he feels he’s where he’s supposed to be right now.
But for the rest of us, it’s heartbreaking to see the ungratefulness, the ugly hatred and even the stupidity and ignorance that has come to the surface these past three years. It’s also telling to see how little people bother to educate themselves, and decide instead to listen to voices that they know are lying to them. Or prefer to stick to their stereotypes, or decide they don’t care about their fellow man as long as they’ve got their own.
Coming to this site is a Godsend – and if Chipsticks weren’t here every day along with everyone else, I know this toxic environment would be doing a lot more damage.
I sometimes think PBO was sent to us as well to teach us more love, humility and understanding. He is the change he wishes to see and asked us to do the same. We only amplify the hatred of others when we return the favor. I was so challenged during the campaign! Near tears some days with the ignorance and hatred. But recently I have noticed that I am just getting so much better. I think Gary Zukof says something like: “do not pity the paraplegic, he is there to make you more fully human” empathize but not sympathize. Somedays it is much harder than others like seeing the deep ridges in PBO’s face and deeply graying hair but you are right…he is where he is suppose to be and so are we. That comforts me..somewhat.
Ohio Teaparty Fail Big time.
Efforts to block Health Care mandate backfires. Oops!!
…….”But the measure backfired. Not only won’t it block the ACA’s individual mandate, but it’s so vague, legal experts say, that it could have the damaging, unintended effect of undermining key public services and regulations in Ohio, including blocking the state’s ability to collect crucial data on infectious diseases. If passed, it could also spark a wave of costly lawsuits, with taxpayers likely footing the bill. “It’s extremely sloppy and extremely overbroad,” says Jessie Hill, a professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. “I hesitate to say whether these potentially extremely troubling consequences were intended or whether the amendment was just misguided.” And if you trust the polls, Issue 3 isn’t even energizing Ohio conservatives………”
CSPAN – THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY
If you can find the time, this was an excellent speech and interview. Gene Sperling was very informative, enlightening and passionate about the current state of the economy. He calls out the Republican Party and gives insight on his interactions with President Obama.
W.H. Economic Adviser Discusses State of the Economy
Monday, October 31, 2011
Gene Sperling, the Director of the National Economic Council and an adviser to President Obama, spoke at an event today hosted by the Economic Club of Washington, DC.
In his remarks, Sperling stated that to get the economy on the right track, “we need a bold immediate jobs plan and a balanced plan for long term fiscal discipline.”
Mr. Sperling held the same job during the Clinton Administration, and was Hillary Clinton’s chief economic adviser during her presidential campaign.
He also discussed the President’s plans to lower tax rates, how to help homeowners who are “underwater” on their mortgages, as well as the recent news that the economy had grown 2.5% percent in the third quarter of this year.
Amazing – this was a long one, but I learned so much and it was actually very interesting. I’ve seen Gene Sperling speak before, and he’s able to discuss very complex topics in very simple terms. I recommend everyone watch at least the speech at the beginning (30 minutes), even if they can’t watch the whole hour. He’s good. And it really gives you good talking points for dealing with the GOP nonsense, plus, gives some insight into the thinking of the Obama Administration.
I am so glad you were able to see this theo67. I was very impressed with Gene Sperling. While I was listening, I couldn’t help but think what a remarkable public servant he is. It really hurts to think that someone so dedicated to doing the right thing for the country is forced to work with a recalcitrant Republican Party.
I totally agree – and I think that a lot of people in the Obama Administration have probably had a renewed sense of service working for President Obama, because he renews your faith in the idea of social dependence, and the need to care for one another – no matter your station in life. Thanks for sharing this – I particularly loved how he put the interviewer straight on the lie that the stimulus plan didn’t do any good. And he said (paraphrasing) that anyone with a brain can’t honestly argue that the stimulus didn’t recover the economy from a loss of 800,000 jobs a month, or the stock market from the 6400 level to the 12000 level.
WoW! Wasnt he great! I would not move. He was spectacular in spite of the “trick” questions. He pounded the question RE: the stimulus did not work. Bang, out of the park! Would not speak a negative word about the repugs. He really has PBO’s back in a way I never trusted Rahm or Bill Daley to do.
I really enjoyed this……desertflower if you need good arguments supporting the case for the AJA……this is loaded with all kinds of economic wisdom and policy, clearly expressed.Ben Quayle’s head would EXPLODE!
Tea Party, Republicans little more than Obstructionist
…….”Problems is: Most Americans were disgusted by the recent debt ceiling debate that led to the downgrading of U.S. debt for the first time in history — and they have no stomach for members of Congress continuing to play the same obstructionist game. They overwhelmingly support raising taxes and closing loopholes. Giving Congress a nine percent approval rating, the public wants action, not GOP failed policies — and rhetoric.”
….”So, if members of the Party of No continue slavishly to honor their pledge to Grover Norquist never to raise taxes and refuse to cooperate with Obama and agree to raise revenue, they will dig their political graves.
Yep. Tweeted it.
yes yes yes!
“the public wants action, not GOP failed policies — and rhetoric.”
“A majority of Americans needs to see them for the out-of-control extremists they really are and to reject their agenda once and for all.”
thanks, africa…maybe I’ll ask Quayle why he thought it was a good idea to pledge his alliegance to Norquist and make THAT oath superior to the only one he SHOULD have taken. The one to the US Constitution!
DF, that’s a good question. I hope you get to ask it.
yes! that’s a good one. because, at least I THINK people are aware of this – it’s probably harder for us to say cuz if we’re here on this site that means we’re probably fairly well informed. But I think people are aware of the conundrum stated thusly: If you signed the Grover Norquist Pledge does that mean you have put Norquist’s Pledge above the Constitution? Does that make him a traitor? If other people in your audience even half know about this and you state that – it’s gonna stick in their minds. They’re gonna go home and tell their neighbors, people they work with, their spouses. It’s going to make other people think.
That’s not a bad show stopping question there.
if I may suggest something Desert on confronting Quayle on the Norquist thingy? a LOT of the Tea’s are now denying that they’ve signed that stuff so if you can find Quayle’s signature;can you print it out and shove it( not literally ) in his face and remind him that he pledge to upload the Constitution of the United States and not Grover Norquist?
Here is the list….
There are two Dems on it…Ben Nelson (shocking) and Robert Andrews of New Jersey
thanks for the list Linda.Doesn’t surprise me about Nelson but still …good grief!
Also Ben Chandler – D of Kentucky. If you go to the Americans for Tax Reform Website you can access a list of the signees. Ben Quayle is listed. Off to check The Last Word, I think thursday LOD did a segment on Republicans who are essentially breaking rank with Norquist
40 Reps who signed a letter saying everything must be on the table , including tax increases for the Deficit Reduction Super Committee.
11 Senators refused to sign a letter drafted by Jim Demint that reiterated Norquist’s anti-tax message.
OH, I HAVE IT! Straight off Grover’s website! As well as all the other Republican pols that signed that piece of UnAmerican trash. Great idea!
SIGNING AWAY THE RIGHT TO GOVERN
df, I totally agree with asking him why he relinquished his judgement to Grover Norquist. The reason why I like this question is that it gets to the heart of the problem with the Republican Party. They have given up their responsibility to govern to an outsider with an agenda. I think this is a question that would resonate with anybody. You take an oath of office to the Constitution and then you layer on top of that oath a pledge to some guy named Grover Norquist? There is just something unethical about that. The pledge invalidates the oath. Majority Leader Harry Reid said, Grover Norquist has become the de facto leader of the Republican Party. Of course, we can’t leave out Rush Limbaugh.
Here are three items you could use to help flush out the question:
1) Signing Away the Right to Govern
2) Reid: GOP ‘terrified’ of violating ‘infamous’ Norquist tax pledge
3) Alan Simpson Takes on Grover Norquist, AARP
Democrats say this pledge is a major roadblock to cutting the deficit, and Mr. Simpson agreed. “If Grover Norquist is now the most powerful man in America, he should run for president,” Mr. Simpson said. “There’s no question about his power. And let me tell you, he has people in thrall. That’s a terrible phrase. Lincoln used it. It means your mind has been captured. You’re in bondage with your soul.”
4) Van Jones slams Norquist’s taxpayer protection pledge
Van Jones told the Washington Times that ATR’s taxpayer protection pledge was “unconstitutional.”
Thank you, Ladyhawke..and all the smart, astute, intelligent people that I call my online family:) I think that the average person that isn’t has up to speed on all things political like we are, would be mortified….and you’re right, it goes directly to the heart of why they will do nothing to move this country forward.
I bet the too many regulations canard will be brought up. It’s been totally debunked.
LACK OF DEMAND vs TOO MANY REGULATIONS
1) When Business Owners Say “Lack of Demand,” Republicans Hear “Too Many Regulations”
2) Misrepresentations, Regulations and Jobs
I know that you’re right about that. I’ve gone to his website and he Tweeted that he has word from many business’ that too many regs are hurting their business’…I cry BS! I’ll read up on these links that you sent. I feel as if I’m going to battle!
That’s a good one. What was it Boehner called Norquist a nonconsequential person? If Norquist’s name and no new taxes pledge comes up more from more places maybe some Republicans will start thinking about it.
Can someone please send this to as many people from the Obama campaign and the White House as well?
Karl Rove accuses Obama campaign of ‘influence peddling’
I just did to Messina, Carney and @BarackObama. I can never get phiffer(sp) correctly on twitter.
THANK you;THANK you;THANK you Africa
Africa it is Dan Pfeiffer. On twitter he is @pfeiffer44. I follow him as well.HZ
OH THAT’S RICH!!!!!!!!!!!! POT MEET KETTLE!
No, thta’s not rich. That’s typical turd blossom tactic of accusing the opposition falsely of what tb and his party are actually doing/
Like Desertflower say, “That’s rich.” Rove has zero credibility with anyone with half a brain….but watch this will be the anti-Obama meme of the week.
Jay, prepare yourself. How many times, and in how many different ways do you suppose this will be raised by the children in the press briefing? It’s a wonder Jay’s ears don’t start to bleed.
Hey, does someone know how to terminate your account on Daily Kos?
Much obliged/thanks in advance. =)
Apparently,it’s impossible unless you actually write a “goodbye cruel world” diary. I just stopped logging in – and then stopped visiting the site altogether.
Maybe getting banned is a way?
You can delete your diaries if you want but the account lives on even if you are banned apparently. I am better off after I quit that whiny and nasty place.
Well you could challenge him on the pledges he signed with Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform and Alec. Also my own worthless Rep Erik Paulsen sent out a flyer saying he voted against Obamacare because it guts Medicare benefits. Completely disingenuous becasue he also supported Paul Ryan’s budget plan. These politicians talk out both ends……lying is second nature. Maybe you could challenge Quayle on some of his votes, or ask him to defend the bill the House sent to the Senate and was voted down that they claim was a jobs bill, and was a deregulation and bill oil bill.
Republicans keep ignoring the fact that demand for goods and services is promoted when the middle class has money in their pockets, which means they have to have jobs. The object is to grow the size of the pie which you do by promoting job growth and security for our middle class, and not increasing the size of the slice which is what has happened over the last decade. You don’t have to be an Einstein to figure it out.
Thank you, Sue….I will keep all these suggestions in mind…keep them coming! I’m hoping that the crowd begins to feed off each other….in a good way.People around here tend to think that if there’s an “R” behind your name, you MUST be good!
HEADLINE: Name and Shame? Obama May Go Public with Lawmakers’ Funding Requests
I say go for it Mr. President! Expose the hypocrisy!
DO IT, DO IT please…..please, please, please Mr. President. Super fantastic idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This would be excellent.
yes yes yes
if he could print and pass the letters to the media in the hopes that he’ll shame them (I don’t know if these extremists know the definition of shame but one can hope ) to every bloody network sitting in the press room
if the Dems can do the same too that would be perfect
drop the hammer on their obstructionist yet hypocritical arses;I hope he includes the Paul’s;Bachmann too
he should pull the Grover Norquist list and show a picture of Norquist sitting next to Boehner;the same Boehner who called Norquist some “random person” just this week
I absolutely love this idea. I am curious as to how they got a hold of the draft memo.
Did your guy diss the stimulus and still ask for it too? You could go there.
THE TEA PARTY PORK BINGE
Oct 30, 2011 10:00 AM EDT
They brought the nation to the brink of default over spending, but a Newsweek investigation shows Tea Party lawmakers grabbing billions from the government trough. Plus, view the letters submitted by the ‘Dirty Dozen.’
Ladyhawke – Looked through the letters and found it funny that only Rick Perry PRINTS his name, rather than using a grownup (are you smarter than a third grader, in this case) cursive signature.
Maybe he’s illiterate, in which case somebody should get him some help. Just sayin’.
Oh, what a great idea! Gee, how to put jumping up-and-down smilies in here…….!
Transparency yes. Should help to mitigate some of the lying that these ass clowns engage in. President Obama will whip that mess called Congress into shape, yet.
and he should.
They wanted transparency. I say give the people what they want.
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
If he does, all I can say is “CHECKMATE, MOFOS!!!”
I see Politico is pushing a Romney/Condi Rice ticket. They’re trying so hard to get one of “their blacks” on the tickie, obviously thinking that splitting the AA vote is the whole key. I’m wondering now if her book tour and appearances on all the “liberal media” programs is part of the plot. If so, I bet we might see an abundance of “no one could have predicted” and “bin Laden determined to strike within U.S.” ads.
I don’t think this ticket would work. When folks see Condi, they think GW. This would be same as sista Sarah and McShame.
I’m hoping for a Cain/Joe the Plumber ticket: Dumb and Dumber
That ticket is even better. BTW, anyone know how Joe the fake plumber is doing? MSNBC sure gave him some play.
dotster3 having , Condi Rice some GOP ticket won’t split the AA votes. No way, no how. That’s the end of that non-sense.
rightwingers keep under-estimating the intelligence of us black people!!!!
remember how the IL gop imported keyes to run against President Obama during the 2004 Senate race?
these rightwingers believe that the only reason we supported President Obama during the presidential run is because he is black. they try all they can to trivialize the multiple (too many to mention) and excellent talents that the Almighty endowered to President Obama.
well, you had their crap about “our blacks versuis their blacks”
The we need to see PBO’s grades! is the most ridiculous GOP line ever especially from Rick Perry who was such a sorry student. When you have an award winning graduate that was the President of the Harvard Law Review that one cannot work. I did hear it is an affirmative action cry for the tea partiers to hate him. If this is so why are they so set on picking a Black to run against PBO?
They are trying to nettle PBO and get under his skin. Even after all this time, they haven’t the foggiest clue of a clue about his character and personality. They are so out of his league. A professor at Harvard who taught the young Obama said he had an incandescent intelligence. I’m sure Harvard professors say that about all their students with low grades. There’s no doubt that PBO will flick these guys off like so many fleas in the grass.
I read a book last Sunday that completely debunked the affirmative action meme that implies AA benefit the most from it. Not true, the facts are that white women, and specifically Jewish white women have benefitted most.
Global, they underestimate everybody. Women who liked Hillary were supposed to vote for Palin because she was a woman–never mind the absence of a working brain. Hispanics are supposed to vote en masse for any ticket that has Rubio, no matter how vile he is and how much pro-Hispanic legislation he votes against. And all AAs are supposed to look no farther than skin color. The thing about stereotyping and pigeon-holding people is you don’t have to use any brain cells. You just put people in their appropriate slots and you don’t have to understand or respect them as individual human beings. The right win has given up thinking because it has a liberal bias.
dotster3 – AAs are not leaving President Obama. Period. Not going to happen. We will press on as long as HE is pressing on.
Beautiful. On the Romney side, they’ll be able to make him argue the benefits of all the pseudo-Democratic legislation he pushed as governor of Massachusetts (health care), and then immediately force him to show his tea bagger stripes. On the Condi side, they can introduce everything that the Bush Administration did while she was Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, and her complete failure to achieve anything at all in both positions. They can ask her about her role in defending/promoting illegal activities, and have her try and claim credit for the Obama Administration achievements – which the Obama Administration will reject. This is perfect – let them try!
Actually it’s an ex-dem congress critter named artur davis. His moronic words
‘It so happens that one is emerging – this individual spent a decade in the spotlight without a hint of scandal, provides foreign policy expertise as well as a graceful, fluid way of addressing domestic issues, especially education.’
Is this nut a puma ?
CHIPS, HERE IS THE OBAMA-SARKOZY INTERVIEW. HAVEN”T WATCHED IT YET, BUT THE TRANSLATOR DOES NOT TALK OVER PBO SO WE KNOW WHAT HE’S SAYING.
PART 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULre6BpVj-c
CHIPSTICKS, NEVE RMIND. DON”T OK MY POSTS. FALSE ALARM. THE TRANSLATOR DOES SPEAK OVER HIM! ARGH
A little Saturday night humor –
Video is musical “You’re So Cain” not sure why it didn’t show up as embed.
Oh dear…Cain and Gingrich are on a Tea-debate on CSPAN.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!
Herman Cain is a joke. He know that too.
Rachel says he is Performance Art!
Great! I’m gonna spread it! Even though I can’t look at him for a sustained period without choking sensations and skin eruptions!
Great video. I suggest we spread it far and wide.
That video is too funny! I look at Cain and ask myself “how could you be bought Cain”? “Do you want to be remembered by your grandchildren as the butt of a GOP joke”????
This is priceless! Well done!
Shucks, I wish she’d sung ‘You’re KOCH Cain’, using ‘Koch’ instead of ‘so’. It would also have fit beautifully.
Oh, the “Leader not Reader” sign was hilarious.
good evening and night my lovely TOD family.thank you.thank you.thank you
Night Fred – hope to see you back here tomorrow.
Note to rightwingers: PBO is the person to lead the world at this point in time.
my simple advise: learn to live with a re-elected President Obama
Thank you. He’ll win in a landslide, if we keep fired up!
The Kock Brothers did not prepare their puppet well for this debate. He does not know what the heck is talking about. He will get slaughtered in next weeks debates, and Newt is lying.
Big time. On both counts. It’s hideous, but I’m sure somebody in the teafolk audience is buying it.
It’s amazing that there is an audience who left their homes to go and watch these two scheisters talk a lot of garbage. Do they really think that either of these people should be the “leader of the free world”?
I just heard Cain use the term “boogie woogie” to rousing laughter. Wow.
Didn’t look like too much diversity in that Texan crowd – did you notice?
I did see that a bunch of the men had scowls on their faces, and a bunch of the women had bad haircuts. (You can tell I wasn’t getting much from the “debate.”)
Gulp. Trying to watch hideous Cain-Gingrich debate, which is more a love fest (as long as I’ve been tuned in), with mentions of people like “our good friend Sean Hannity,” yada yada yada.
Nobody on earth cares one iota what Newt has to say, except for Herman – who keeps shaking his head in agreement.
Maybe they can be brothers with a different mother after they both lose their current goals.
Newt just said President Obama is about as candid and truthful (or something like that) as Bernie Madoff in what he tells the American people.
Hold me back.
I’ve been listening for two minutes, and I’m already incensed. Two idiots.
I thought they were debating each other. These creatures are sad, sad, sad. They got nothing and are going nowhere.
Cain keeps telling Newt to go first. He is winging through this debate.
I think once Newt even offered to go first, since he’s trying to save his new buddy.
The crazy thing about this is debate is that they both claim to hate D.C., but WANT to live there and be apart of the federal government. No moderators EVER call them out about this double talk.
Yes, and Newt keeps trying to pretend he wasn’t part of the federal government for many years. What a crud.
Wasn’t really listening, but think Newt is now joking about sending a package to “illegals,” for them to sign for, I guess, if we are trying to locate them.
Even though I have a lurkers temperament and come in on the tail-end of these conversations, I love the brilliance of the commenters, root for those battling ill-health, and wish happiness for the birthday celebrants. Thanks to you, Chips, and to all who keep this place a hotbed of Obama support.
Lovely comment. You should comment more often!
Thank you, Theo67. We lurkers never sleep, we just keep coming back to catch-up;-) This site is a great anti-depressant—even inspires the shy amongst us to DO something that might help the GOTV effort.
re-post from afternoon thread…
PHILADELPHIA === IN THE HOUSE!!!!! Yeah, baby!!! And while these folks were protesting Mitt Romney, some OFA volunteers were canvassing neighborhoods and reminding folks that we have a local election this Tues., Nov 8th, re-electing Phila Mayor Nutter and electing reasonable judges statewide.
IF you ever want to get out of the house and IGNORE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA, call your local Organizing for America (OFA ) or check out BarackObama.com to volunteer for an event near you. Make phone calls. Walk around your neighborhood and knock on doors,
HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH REAL PEOPLE . It definitely will renew your faith in support for Pres. Barack Obama.
We had a blast today!!! One of my good friends and I walked a turf pack. She with her 15 yr old niece and me with my 14 yr old son. A brisk, sunny fall day. A perfect day to get teenagers away from the computers and us “old folks” up off our butts!!! Folks had engaging conversation for us, Got a few leaners to check out “Attack Watch ” and, of course, I mentioned “The Obama Diary”
Great news, isonprize. I was unable to commit physically today, and told OFA I am working Monday and Tuesday, but that I am informing folks via email and FB about the local elections. I admit I also have to gear myself up for the walking bit (bad knee) so’s I can be available real soon as I believe my neighborhood needs a big nudge. I so hope folks don’t give up on Nutter. I think he means well, but too many don’t trust his decisions in this unhealthy economic environment. I mean, who else is there? Karen Brown certainly is a virtual unknown, and the Independent is new on the scene as well. Good luck Philly. I’m in Delaware County, most definitely rethug territory, yet we went big for PBO in 2008.
it may have been the hurricane/margarita mix I had tonight, but I bought an IPad! Happy Birthday to me!
Thx to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I gotta say, thx to some friends from work and some family members it was one of the better birth-days I ever had.
Posted at lamh35 too, but just in case it doesn’t work:
Thrilled you had a great day and congrats on your iPad. I was having so many computer issues (laptop and iPad) until mid afternoon, I didn’t wish you a Happy Birthday so Happy, Happy.
I can no longer watch this CSPAN “debate.” Herman does not know what the hell he is talking about and Newt is flat out lying on many issues.
Watched as long as I could, too, but the two of them are, collectively and individually, a big waste of time.
The Win With Woman PAC is very exciting! I am going to be googling tonight to find out who these women are. I recognize about 4 of them. I hope some of them are running in swing states. Having a great woman running for Senate next year would be a great motivator to get folks to the polls, and bring some new a whole new dimension to the political coverage next year. You would also probably get a lot of crossover support from female republicans (poor souls).
Mucho kudos to Barbara Boxer for organizing this. Lawd knows we need new blood in the Senate, and with the GOP’s hatred of women’s rights, this is right on time.
Just visited the website. Verrrry impressive — simple, straightforward, and effective at tying so many of the issues back to women, e.g. the attack on the EPA is made personal as it goes to mother’s fears of their children breathing polluted air. Excellent work! Another conversation changer.
It’s amazing just how regressive and shameful the GOP’s agenda has been. Bastids! 2012 is their reckoning.
OT: This is a test to see if I can upload a picture.
Oh well, guess not.
I’ll try again:
but if it doesn’t work, here’s the link to ABL’s place where I got the Driving MIss Crazy picture.
Oops! Rick Scott shows he doesn’t know the basic geography of the state he is governing:
