Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
We can’t be discouraged by what is. We’ve got to keep pushing for what ought to be, the America we ought to leave to our children, mindful that the hardships we face are nothing compared to those Dr. King and his fellow marchers faced 50 years ago, and that if we maintain our faith, in ourselves and in the possibilities of this nation, there is no challenge we cannot surmount.
Have a great day, everyone!
Well, we have our marching orders this morning – both from you, PJ, and President Obama!
We’ve gotta press on, JOB!
yay! quote of the day! Thx PJ putting it on my monitor!
Thanks PJ, I look forward to your Obama quote of the day. it is very inspiring indeed.
What can I say, PJ? I always like the daily O’ Quotes – Thanks.
Thanks again, PJ. I love the tone that the quotes set .HZ
Good morning.. Go OHIO….
Ohio,…show the rest of us….(esp here in PA) how it is done…..
The one race I would watch out for today that of the recall election of the racist sunvabitch pearce in AZ,
You bet, amk! If Pearce gets recalled today I will float through the rest of this day:) He HAS GOT TO GO!
Turn out and early ballots have been high. Some are predicting a double digit win for Lewis. I’m crossing all my fingers and toes for Lewis and also for Stanton to beat out that awful Gullet. I spent my morning contacting voters. Please Arizona, Please do vote and think of our future.
I’m here! Was surprise to walk right up front!
You are “here” where? PA-yeadon?
Yeah! Can’t wait to read your boots on the ground viewpoint!
Just occurred to me that I’m so late you’ve probably already reported. Sooo, I’ll mosey on down the thread in my own sweet time as usual.
Chipsticks, congrats on the WH stamp of approval. You have truly arrived.
I have no doubt this is the case, but I’m sure I missed a big announcement or something. Could you direct me to that? Sorry I’m so slow…
This is WONDERFUL!!!! FABULOUS!!!! Thanks for all you do, Chips, and so glad you are getting this recognition! It’s a BFD.
This is truly a BFD. This summer in Denver, I attended an OFA organizing meeting. TOD was mentioned by the regional OFA organizer as the go to place for positive comments and energy as the drudge and negativity of the campaign starts. Chipsticks, you make a difference everyday!
What does BFD mean….
thanks in advance
Big Fucking Deal.
That phrase is courtesy of our beloved Vice President Biden during the historical Healthcare Reform passage.
Congratulations Ms. Chips!!!! You do such awesome work and I’m so happy you have WH stamp of approval!
Ah, thank you princessk26 – and everyone. I’m not quite sure we have the WH stamp of approval, though – I’d imagine my, eh, lack of civility towards opponents of the President would bring tears to his eyes
well I am sure the picture of Mankini Newt would bring much laughter to his heart. lol
Or …… it could make him lose his lunch Some jewels are just not attractive.
You are ruthless but hilarious so they wouldn’t shy away from an unofficial endorsement of your site.
Thanks for linking that earlier, amk.
Roh oh, Now I’m thinking about all the comments I made…I hope I didn’t swear too much.
Yeah, Chips, you’re taking us into the stratosphere!!! Oh, boy.
WOW !!!! Chips, you are the best and you deserve this recognition and more!!!!!
Wow, Chips! Wow. I’m am so happy for you. You have created such a wonderful place to visit and chat and fawn over the First Family. Happy! Congrats, girlfriend.
From a couple of threads back…
Hopefully they don’t dive too deep into the comments, lol!
Some of us (me, included) better “clean up” our act. lol!
lol that’s what I was thinking when I read that….
No, you guys can’t. I love it when you get down and dirty. It makes me laugh and that’s sorely needed in our world today. Keep at it ladies!
Thank you Ms. Kitty!
Reposting since comment monster ate the last one.
Today we reached a major milestone in aviation fuel efficiency when United Airlines flew the first-ever commercial domestic flight using a blend of biofuel and traditional jet fuel. In addition, United announced its intent to purchase 20 million gallons of bio-fuel per year, giving this young, green industry a big boost.
This is excellent news!
This great news. I just tweeted it.
Wonder if PBO will delicately mention the Bears-Eagles game last night. Or mention that he’s not mentioning the game. Bears Win! Yay!
The Columbus Dispatch reports that turnout in Ohio, which is today voting whether to repeal new anti-union law SB5, is very high.
The paper reports that turnout is especially good in Franklin County, where the capital city of Columbus is located along with one of the highest number of public employees per capita, according to Dems in the state.
From The Dispatch:
Go Ohio, Go! Take your state back!
Turn-out is high…..
Things seem to be running very late, the President is only arriving in Philadelphia now:
Guess who was the rethug punk that went all poutraged over that sarkozy-obama ope mic nontriversy ?
The old, angry fruitcake who lost in 2008.
What a nasty old coot!! And a “fruitcake” LOL
Get off my lawn! (Go back to AZ, you old coot!)
NO! We don’t want him here! Some island somewhere would be fine. AWAY from civilization.
Good grief. I really wish he would get over getting his ass handed to him 4 years ago
I’m also relieved someone so bitter and angry is not out president. American did the right thing in seeing he was not fit to be pres. Wish people in AZ would also wake up and vote him out of the Senate
There’s live coverage of the President’s visit to Pa here too:
CHIPSSSSSS!!!! Oh WOW, Chica!! The White House is on to you!! And oh dear, us, too!! Congrats, Comrade. You deserve every ounce of recognition your hard work brings. What an honor. ****BIG cyber-celebration-chocolate-cake to TOD****
I think that calls for a wet POTUS photo to celebrate!!!
It’s on my desktop – front and center !!!
mine, too! Let’s have PIE!!!!
AP: A Washington circuit appeals court has upheld President Obama’s health care law as constitutional.
GREAT NEWS! This is an “all caps” day (in a good way!).
Hey J’OB, it’s been a crazy week and it’s only Tuesday!!
I know. Truly doesn’t it feel like its way later in the week?
I have a question that’s been bothering me about framing this issue all day: “upheld” or “struck down” President Obama’s health care law.
Isn’t it only about the mandate? Would the rest of the bill survive even if mandates are struck down?
Just asking — I really want to be informed on this.
Just to clarify, because it was confusing to me, this is a court in Washington D.C. not Washington State, which also filed suit against the law by our very partisan Attorney General.
Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi is facing growing calls for his resignation, after apparently losing his majority in the lower house of parliament.
Mr Berlusconi won a vote on the budget, but received less than half the votes in the chamber.
After the vote, opposition leader Pierluigi Bersani urged him to step down. Allies including the Northern League had already said he should quit.
Money markets no longer believe he can deal with the country’s debt crisis.
Mr Berlusconi has so far refused to resign, but said he would make a decision on his future after the vote. He is now consulting with senior ministers.
A good riddance if it happens.

Did anybody read this?
“I can’t stand him any more, he’s a liar,” Mr Sarkozy said in French.
“You may be sick of him, but me, I have to deal with him every day,” Mr Obama replied.
The exchange at the G20 summit was quoted by a French website, Arret sur Images, and confirmed by other media.
The remarks – during a private conversation – were overheard by a few journalists last week but were not initially reported, the BBC’s Christian Fraser in Paris says.
Journalists at the bilateral press conference had been handed translation boxes but had been told not to plug in their headphones until the backroom conversation had finished. But those who did heard the revealing comments.
For several days there was media silence in France about the exchange – a decision had been taken not to embarrass the French president, our correspondent says.
A correspondent for Le Monde newspaper referred to the conversation without the quotes.
But Israeli newspapers have reported it in full.It is said Mr Obama was taking Mr Sarkozy to task for voting in favour of the Palestinian bid for full membership of the UN cultural organisation, Unesco, a bid that was approved despite American opposition.
The remarks indicate a breakdown of trust with the Israeli leader which could have wider implications for the Middle East peace process, our correspondent says.
Thanks Donna, I saw bits of it earlier, however that second to last section you’ve included throws some light on the matter for me. I glad to see that even though the reporters weren’t supposed to have their mike on yet, our Prez said nothing he need feel contrition about. IMO, he was once again the adult admonishing young Sarkozy to consider before letting his disillusionment with Yahu colour his actions. [Not that it matters but I myself share Sarkozy's view of Netanyahu. ]
I myself share Sarkozy’s view of Netanyahu. ]…..*vcprez* I too share your exact thoughts. After all Netanyahou, forgive the spelling of his name, was not very nice to our beloved PBO, and the pictures reflected the tension, and really, It made me sad as I looked at the snapshots. Israel’s Leader came to our house and just plain old acted up, at our house, you might say. He has some nerve, for throwing PBO under the bus. But being that PBO Is the ADULT, that he Is, showed diplomacy Inspite of. President Obama, you make us proud, and we here on *TOD*, have your back, and proudly so :-).
Chips just let me say to you, that I just love It here, and you do a *GREAT* job In keeping us Informed all about the good stuff. The snapshots and pictures that you bring here, are the best, and really, just keep us smiling as we view them. Thank you Chips, I probably don’t say It enough, but seriously, thank you Chips, I appreciate all that you do here for our pleasure.
“Scared Mittless”…If possible Chips could you post this website? Put up by Huntsman, who has done the best jog of attacking Romney.
Great stuff for us to use if Mittens does become the GOP nominee.
Erik Erickson said he is giving Huntsman another look…….
Love the photo with the colorful flowers popping up in the foreground—–artistic!
Yesterday I had an appointment with my local VA Rep.. and I bring this up because I live in such a right wing town/ redstate (ND).. and though we are one of the few states/towns where jobs are super plentiful due to the huge oil boom here.. I still push for the AJA wherever I go.. thus I brought it up to the VA Rep yesterday. He’s a nice young man, but a republican of course. When I mentioned that the repubs had voted down every bit of the AJA thus far and that the Senate was voting this week on an aspect that related specifically to veterans.. he seemed completely unaware. His only comment being that vets needed homes, more than jobs (here- because we have a huge housing shortage). I stated that though we were booming here, jobs for vets were a big issue everywhere else- and in order to get housing, folks need jobs, imo. I told him that every vet in this state needed to be calling Sen Hoeven and Rep Rick Berg to vote for the AJA- putting vets to work. Anyway I feel like I hit a stone wall with him, he listened but said basically nothing in return. I did tell him about POTUS’s speech yesterday and the info that President Obama was doing all that he could in the Executive position to further help veterans but that the republicans in Congress were hurting us. He’s supposed to call me back today regarding the personal info I initially went to see him about.. and when he does, I’m going to give him the website info that POTUS set up for helping vets get jobs.. and ask him to pass it on to the vets in this area. I don’t know what else to do.. but I am constantly bothered by the way I see the VA in this state representing the republican point of view.
Well, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s proud of you at this point, sherijr. Thank you for speaking truth to power.
thank you jacqueline, I’m so tired of hearing repub talking points everytime I go to the VA anywhere in this state that I have a very difficult time being silent anymore
Sherijr that’s great! You met with your senator and told him the truth! Good for you. And he knew. He knows what you are talking about. I don’t get these guys. I don’t understand how they think they are doing anything good by destroying our country. They so sincerely need to get their collective behinds booted out of office.
Ok off my rant and back to you. Great Job!!!!
that is wonderful Sheri. But if I could suggest anything.I’d print out everything the President has done for Veterass;including laws signed so that he can for himself instead of just hearing crap Fox is probably feeding him every day.Folks have a tendency to say yes I’ll do the research but not do it
from housing;to raises;to healthcare;education;I’d print anything and everything and those sites of course.
he can go home if he pleases and do his own research to fact check everything but he’ll have solid proof in his own hands
that is a great idea Fred, I save everything. I worried that he said almost nothing when told about the repubs voting down everything.. in his position he needs to know who’s actually working for vets and who’s working against them- so I will do just what you said. thank you.
glad to help She and if you can print out the votes of the of candidates and statements of Romney;Huntsman;Perry on those issues as well
I will do just that and then bring it by his office.. again, thank you so much for your suggestions!
no She if this convinces this person to vote for POTUS; you’re the one who will have succeeded in doing something great
Ha- that would be awesome.. we can never give up
Good job Sherijr, I really believe they live in a bubble of Repub only listening and talking points and know nothing about what is happening in the real world. Keep up the good works.
I agree with you, people here are not real real political, but they do tend to buy into the Limbaugh line on far too much.. its sad and frustrating.
You’re a star, sherijr!
Oh you’re the star PJ, I read your morning O quotes everyday and feel inspired by each of them, thank YOU for putting in the effort to post them for us
Great job sherijr. Keep on pressing on!
KEEP THE FAITH…
you may never know if your words fell on deaf ears….
ONE voice can change more than you know…like throwing a pebble in a pond…it has a ripple effect…
Great job, Sheri! Maybe his conscious will kick in and the reference material will help. Miracles have happened.
Hope you’re doing better!
Excellent Sherijr! THIS is why I love this place and am so thankful for Chips! It is no wonder she is on the WH radar … They are some smart people and I am sure they recognize the priceless treasure we have here
The President’s on CNN from the Philly area!
He just said the little kids in the Head Start program there are “so huggable.” So, I imagine, are you, Mr. President!
More added to the post
This President knows how to play. I know that helps to keep everything balanced in his life. I love pictures of him with children.
OH, sweet!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like POTUS mentioned, I’m choking up, too. Too cute for words.
I imagine that sweet child is telling PBO “4 more for 44″
That’s exactly the first thought that came to my head when I saw that pic!
I just love the pictures of the President with the kids. He looks like he is having lots and lots of fun.
I can’t blame the President, if I was him I would rather be with these kids than the kids in the Senate and the House.
Anniebella, your comment is a winner!
Here’s some Cliff Notes for what’s at stake today in elections across the country:
ooh thanks! tweeted!
Good morning my TOD family. I’m so glad I found you. I’ve had death in my family and wasn’t able to keep up.
Thanks Chips for all you do to tell the truth.
I now see who is behind the “Fast & Furious Fire Eric Holder ” . It’s the NRA. MSNBC, the lean forward channel (supposedly) is airing an AD sponsored by the National Rifle Association.
Super Tuesday is going to be close. However, I believe the polls only manifest all the dirty tricks of slimy Koch brothers’ puppet Karl Rove.
Personally, I think most of America is really sick of the RepubliCLOWNS /CONS dooms day scenario. But, the media won’t reflect the truth.
I hate giving Daily KOS a click or credit but this is evidence of it…
Poll: 50 Percent Say GOP Is ‘Intentionally Stalling’ Economy To Hurt Obama
| A new Daily Kos/SEIU poll conducted by Public Policy Polling that comes out later today shows that a full half of Americans believe that “Republicans are intentionally stalling efforts to jump start the economy to insure that Barack Obama is not reelected.” This includes 61 percent of self-described “moderates” and 15 percent of “conservatives. Forty-one percent said Republicans are not hurting the economy to hurt Obama, while 10 percent are not sure:
Have a nice day TOD family.
Remember what Bob Marley said: Get Up Stand Don’t Give Up the Fight
Yes we can do more

So sorry to hear about your family loss, relellit – our thoughts are with you. Thank you for the Bob Marley video, always loved him.
relellit, I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you.
Thank you for the video, bob marley is one of my favorite musicians.
relellit….I am very sorry for your recent loss….my thoughts and prayers are with you. Glad you are rejoining us as well.
offering my condolences on the loss in your family.
*relellit*, the Bible says that God will wipe every tear from our eyes. You are In my prayers:-)
relellit, May the good Lord watch over you and your family and give you strength.
Thanks TOD family for all your condolences.
Your post about God wiping every tear from our eyes is so true. My 9 yr old grandson said he was glad she was in heaven because now she can walk with the angels. Then he asked why she didn’t take her cell phone with her? That was so sweet. It still brings tears to my eyes. His spirit is so uplifting.
I think Bob Marley’s message is appropriate for us on Super Tuesday, in fact, everyday. I’m glad you liked it.
A note about Bill Clinton–a few days ago Hillary made extremely positive comments about the President–I wonder if it was to head off some of the crap her hubby was going to be putting out there? THEN I noticed in his comments about Hillary’s mother the President mentioned that the Mom came to the White House and supported Hillary during some “personal setbacks”. I was surprised that he brought it up, but maybe it was a little push back on what he knew was coming out from Bill’s book. Sure, mostly Bill was positive about the President–but he knew, we all know, the media will go for anything seen as negative. Why couldn’t he waited a year to bring out his damn book?
Bubba is MESSY, and he’s just mad because Hillary talks better about PBO than she ever did her huzzzzzband. And she does it with a big grin on her face, LOL! Hillary loves her some PBO — who wudda thunk it?
He’s not going to postpone anything when it comes to finding a mic and a person behind it to ask him questions. Did it in the White House, during the Bush years, his wife’s campaign and now. As that birthday tour showed he loves the spotlight. Wants to be the elder statesman but his ego won’t let him observe protocol. I would have thought when he publicly stated Obama should invoke the 14th amendment which turned out to be stupidly wrong that he would pipe down and let the guy do has job. No such luck.
The President is laying foundations that Clinton never dreamed of and imo it’s working on him. Once the economic component falls into place (and it will) Obama is headed for Mt Rushmore. A transformational figure that changed government for the better. Clinton was a DLC’er who co-opted many Republican ideas and essentially worked in Reagan’s shadow. I give him credit for getting the economy moving and paying down the debt but it was definitely a mixed bag.
He’s not in The President’s league and he knows it. Even if Clinton had not given in to his tendencies there is no way he could match this political genius with a ramrod spine and a heart that just keeps beating.
There’s only one reason for releasing such a book now, when it can do the most damage to the President’s re-election chances. He could have called the President to give him advice if he was really concerned. He could pass messages via his wife. Notice how his criticism is always about domestic issues – not foreign policy…
This broohaha book and speaking out by Clinton reminds me of what I was worried about if Hillary won the presidency. What backstabbing vying for attention antics might have taken place could have had our heads spinning!
All of the live feeds were not streaming and were stopping and starting. Did anyone else experience the same problems?
6ABC ran pretty well, with a blip of AG Eric Holder being grilled for something. I had the sound down, listened to the speech via radio, uninterrupted.
I got that too, but I went to CNN. Very strange that the ABC link switched to Holder.
Thank you both for responding… I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one having issues with the feed…
him with the kids is precious

The blame game, redux
By Steve Benen
The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows a frustrated public, unhappy with nearly everyone. And yet, the same poll shows President Obama leading all of his Republican rivals.
Why is that? Part of it probably has something to do with 71% of Americans liking the president personally, but digging through the internals (pdf), two other questions stood out.
“Who is most to blame for current economic problems: Wall Street bankers, George W. Bush, or Barack Obama?”
Wall Street Bankers: 36%
George W. Bush: 34%
Barack Obama: 21%
this is why the MSM IS SO MAD. FOLKS CAN SEE THE TRUTH.
“When you think about the current economic conditions, do you feel that this is a situation that Barack Obama has inherited or is this a situation his policies are mostly responsible for?”
Situation Obama inherited: 60%
Situation Obama’s policies mostly responsible for: 28%
Some of both: 9%
These results have been pretty consistent for a long while. The public isn’t satisfied with the president’s performance, and they’re not at all convinced that his efforts have improved conditions, but ultimately, voters just don’t blame him for the mess he didn’t make.
Only an idiot would deny that President Obama inherited this mess.
Tell it, Theo! It’s amazing that 28% of poll responders that the President’s policies are responsible for the economic mess the country is in.
Wish one of the answers in the poll included the Republicans in Congress for who to blame. Wonder how that would have turned out?
Chips, the WH is watching you! No pressure!
I hope this doesn’t mean Chips is going to start behaving herself!!!!
You will see a new me from now on. I will never again use bad language, I will never again descend in to smuttiness, I will never again make any comments about the President’s physical appearance, I will never again post photos that could possibly be categorized as, well, attractive (like this:
… I will demand that each and everyone of you behaves at all times, and I will not tolerate giddiness.
Wet POTUS!!!!! Thank you. Also, too, you will have to keep all of your weapons in your purse!!
“Also, too, you will have to keep all of your weapons in your purse!!”
Oh crikey, yes!!! We are going to have to change so much we just won’t recognize each other!!!
Promise us that the newt mankini will be retired, at least. That one could be deemed a weapon of mass nausea.
Unless he becomes the GOP candidate, in which case we will to to get that mankini photo out to everyone!!
So excited about wet POTUS, I cant type. that would be need to get that photo out.
Chipsticks, I am absolutely convinced that both the President and the First lady have a great sense of humor. So, I am hoping that you’ll continue to enliven this place with your edgy, but delicious, sense of humor. Please, please, don’t lose your edge. I also hope others here won’t be so proper. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine for dealing with all the madness going on in our politics and media.
OMG! That photo gives a new meaning to “wet dream”.
You really need to be on the naughty mat!!
(Hello White House, I apologize sincerely for Pamela)
My bad, MY BAD. So sorry, White House. I promise to never be called on the naughty carpet again. In the future, I will adhere to “respect, empower and include”.
I guess the naughty mats are coming out again!!
Might as well just open the Naughty Hotel….
I promised to be on my best behavior until 1pm so I have 8 Minutes remaining until I sit on my naughty Mat. Dammmmmmnnnnnnnnn you Chips. He Hot, He Sexy, ok 7Minutes to go.
Okay everyone, we need a vote here – now that we’re being watched by the White House (well, by one staffer any way), should we ban M4O for life, for fear she’ll disgrace us all?
This is democracy in action – vote now.
I say we give her another 8 minutes.
If we ban M4O, we will have to ban most of the rest of us, too. I say “Free Speech Rules”!
*is thoroughly amused by this exchange and all the while pretending that she would never ever have to be called to the naughty mat*
Sorry Chips Baaaaad Girls are the Majority here at our TOD Family. We will IMPEACH you out of office if you don’t give us our Eye Candy. (Oh Please Lawd Help me. It’s only Human Nature)
What would those of us who silently let M4O speak for us. She has the courage to say what we all think. I vote for her to stay!!!!!
My goodness – if we impeach M4O, I’mma have to go to…..my words are all over that picture
I vote NO! Let M40, be a M40! At least she promised to behave for 8 minutes. Besides, she is just having fun. I am sure Michelle knows that she means no harm.
Is that a pic by Souza? I can’t find it on the White House Photo/Flickr stream…
You want to take the fun out of this! That is the picture on my desktop. My husband says its not fair! He can’t compete!
Hi Trumpdog, no that wasn’t a Pete Souza photo, as far as I can remember it was on Daylife who, for some reason, don’t provide photographer credits.
Don’t you dare – More More More
Especially the wet ones!!!! (LOL)
“Especially the Wet ones”
“Especially the wet ones!!!! (LOL)”
You know folks, I am at work here and I constantly have to keep wiping my screen for all of the steam on it!
RRRRRrrrrrrrrr………laughing too hard!!!!!!!
meta, I was laughing too hard and my partner of 16 years is about to challenge my gay creds! She said: “how could you post something so risque”? I said : “I have a dream and PBO’s “wet picture” features prominently. How am I responsible for YOUR dirty mind”?!
AHAHAHAHAHAH – you got jokes Chipsticks!!!!!!!
You lie! Cheers.
They’re Just Not That Into Him, Are They?
“Mitt Romney is not the George W. Bush of 2012 — he is the Harriet Miers of 2012, only conservative because a few conservative grand pooh-bahs tell us Mitt Romney is conservative and for no other reason. That is precisely why Mitt Romney will not win in 2012. But no worry, once he loses, Republican establishment types will blame conservatives for not doing enough for Mitt Romney, never mind that Mitt Romney has never been able to sell himself to more than 25% of the GOP voters. It’s not his fault though, it is the 75%’s fault.
Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican nominee. And his general election campaign will be an utter disaster for conservatives as he takes the GOP down with him and burns up what it means to be a conservative in the process,” – Erick Erickson.
Erick Erickson has conveniently forgotten that Huntsman is even more moderate than Romney, and apart from being more attractive (in some eyes), has a lot of the same issues as Romney. Plus, he’s got the squeaky endorsement of Palin, and seems to be quite delicate in the health department.
Woop Woop http://news.yahoo.com/appeals-court-upholds-obama-health-care-law-161931692.html
A conservative-leaning panel of federal appellate judges on Tuesday upheld President Barack Obama’s health care law as constitutional, helping set up a Supreme Court fight.
Love what President Obama had to say about setting high standards for Head Start. I am a True Believer in the worth and importance of Head Start. I was looking for something meaningful to do after kids were grown and I decided to teach at Head Start in our county—-had teaching/caseworker background. I was so proud of the great program we had with a caring, dedicated staff and administrators. And I loved the all-encompassing aspect of Head Start, teaching every facet of a healthy life, in addition to kindergarten prep. I loved that we encouraged parental involvement in their child’s education, making clear that key factor. We did so many wonderful things, great field trips to plays and concerts and museums and libraries and a train trip to Chicago, many firsts and eye-opening experiences for these kids. We watched them take great strides and grow so much, given the opportunity. With some it was starting from the very beginning—-”this is a book”—-and see them develop and end up as prepared as any other preschool kid in the community to enter elementary school. We always got great feedback from the elementary school teachers also, saying they knew their former Head Start kids were prepared. I thought all programs were like ours but know not all were, so I applaud President Obama in introducing incentives to elevate programs that aren’t up to par. Those years are so important, the most important in a child’s life. Their minds are like sponges if someone is there to feed them. I have kept in contact with many of my former students/families and have watched as many of them excelled and won awards and scholarships. Very gratifying.
I so agree with you dotster, two of my three sons attended Head Start.. my middle son attended pre-school. Interesting tidbit.. My eldest son attended Head Start in 1982, my youngest attended it in 2003 (yes theres 20 years between my eldest & youngest however, my point is that Head Start is & was an excellent program and I was able to see it progress from one son to the other.
Thank you dotser3 – my late mother was a head start teacher and she raved about the program. I wish she could have lived to see this day because I know she would have loved PBO and this visit today would have thrilled her to no end.
Head Start is proven to be a success and although many times is has been rumored to be on the chopping block – it prevails and as an educator myself I hope the program continues to thrive.
I tweeted an article of a dollar amt. that POB has available for Head Start Schools like the one he visited today.HZ
Beautiful, beautiful photos by our beloved President. “The kids are huggable” I wish I was those Kids.

I though you had gone back to work, a4A?
Back home! Saw the motorcade; didn’t get to see the President. they took him in through the back parking lot. Was going to change locations for the departure, however, my Mom didn’t want to move as we were up front in the rope line; should have insisted! Did see Sec. Sebelius. Had extended conversation with a SS agent (NO, I wasn’t in trouble…lol). Crowd was enthusiastic, wish he had at least stuck his head out the door. Off to work the polls, will download pics this evening.
Alycee thanks for that nice run down. Off I go to follow you on Twitter.
Sorry you missed him Alycee!!!
What did you and the SS agent talk about. Hope you thanked for taking such good care of our President and we know it isn’t easy. Sorry you missed the President. Good luck today at the polls.
Thanks for the tidbit, Alycee.
My son and I were there this morning!! My son and I met the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, Barack H. Obama!!!!! Are you kidding me??? WOW! And Air Force One is a beautiful sight to see. That is a gorgeous plane.
I just can’t stop grinning!!
WOW oh WOW!!!! Did you get any pictures? Congratulations! Tell us more!
OMGoooooodness….tell us alll about it….
Wow, Isonprize, just wow. Got to tell us more. Did you shake his hands? I would be grinning, too.
Isonprize, what a nice experience. Happy for you and your son.
That is magnificent isonprize, absolutely THRILLED for you and your son, woooooOOOOOOOOoooooot!!!!!!!
Just getting back to the computer after a WHIRLWIND of a day… WOW!!!
So, I’ve been volunteering on the campaign since 2007 and I always try to volunteer for the Pres. Obama events. So, it helps to work the campaign (and do what you say you are going to do!) and get to know your regional field director. Whenever there is a presidential event, try to volunteer for it and get to the training on time!
Me getting to the airport this time was sheer luck. I happened to be looking at the staffer when it was announced that they had an addtional assignment. I just said, ” I’ll do it” having NO CLUE what it was. When they said that they needed someone to help at the airport. I almost passed out.
It’s not random people that meet him at the airport. They are all screened and checked out by Secret Service in advance. We were screened also. And actually, that is refreshing to know. I’m happy that no one can just randomly meet the plane at the airport!! There were all kinds of people. Some had relatives who were White House interns, others had relatives who were Secret Service agents, some were campaign donors, others were campaign volunteers. A mix of ages, all cultures, some in suits, others in jeans, though I will say that you could tell that all the kids were “on their best behavior” About 25 people in all.
So, we waited and waited and waited some more. The kids played well together. We got told (a bazillion times) that we needed to use the bathroom before we boarded the bus because once we got to the waiting area, we would not be allowed to leave. Got screened again before we boarded the bus to go to the viewing area. They told us (about a gazillion times) that Pres. Obama may not have time to come over to meet and shake hands. Waited on the bus, which was good, because the kids could now see the runway, but we were still near the indoor waiting area. And if you had to use the bathroom, that was cool. but (guess what??) you got screened again after you came out of the bathroom. (But again, I’m cool with all of that…!!!)
The bus cranked up. and off we went for about a 2 minute ride to the runway. It was a gorgeous, clear, sunny, unusually warm November day. By this time it was about 68-70 degrees. 8) Since we were all prepared for it to be FREEZING, folks started peeling off jackets and gloves. We were situated between two of those roller staircases that they drive up to the plane, but “penned in” by the barriers that are used to close off a street.
A few planes landed, then about a 5 minute lag, and all off a sudden you see this HUGE plane gradually getting bigger and bigger, closer and closer. The distinctive ‘hump’ on the front of Air Force One was visible. I immediately knew that getting up at 5:30 this morning was ALL WORTH IT!!
Air Force One touched down as smooth as butter then disappear behind some of the airport buildings to taxi around to where we were. WHERE WE WERE!!!! I was surprised that it came so close. Then MIchael Nutter (Mayor of Philadelphia) Chaka Fattah and Bob Brady, (two Pennsylvania US Reps) were there to meet him. And I believe Secretary Kathleen Sebelius traveled with the President.
Then Pres, Obama walked straight over to us. I got video of him walking. I LOVE THAT MAN’S STRIDE!!! ( Sorry Chica, I’ll behave) My son was the 3rd hand he shook. My son said ” Hi, President Barack Obama!” He said. “Well, who is this tall young man? So, nice to meet you!” I caught the audio on tape, but not the video because I was so close and so nervous, I forgot how to use my video camera. But I recovered enough to get them in the same frame of the camera shot.
Pres. Obama just seems so down to earth, so “normal” His hands are soft, but strong. His voice, gentle but firm. He looked everyone, including me, directly in the eye. He spoke or shook hands with every single person, then waved and hopped in the “beast” I got some video of the motorcade and Air Force One just chillin’ on the runway.
Then I dropped my son off for the rest of his day. And crazy me? I went and canvassed some turf for election day. Ran into a few folks that forget it was election day(!!) got 7 campaign volunteers and knocked about 50 doors. Wanna lose some weight? Canvass in a city neighborhood. Going up and down those stairs is a workout!!! Then I voted, got the kid, got some din-din, and here I am.
All in all, an AWESOME DAY!! (I hope this post isn’t too long…)
I am so glad for you, so glad you got to meet PBO and even more than your son got to meet him. You write so well I could see the whole thing in my mind. Thanks for sharing.
IS so happy for you
Isonprize!!! lucky you. tell us everything!!!
YAYAYAYAYAYYYYYY!! I’m so thrilled for you, isonprize!!
How does one get to see him at the airport? I thought they selected a few people near the gate. I was stating earlier how I am at work on another day when PBO is in our neck of the woods, and I keep missing the motorcade. As for the plane, is it as gorgeous as PBO ?
Oh so exciting isonprize! I am so happy for you and your son!
Uhm, you know you have to give us more details than that right? His looks, his voice, his touch, what did your say if anything? etc. etc.
Did you swoon isonprize? Tell the truth, your son held you up right? :-). I am so happy you met our #1 guy!
OMG!! I am so pleased for you isonprize!! Did you see him at the airport? That is amazing.
Yippee!!! That is beyond cool and wonderful. Lucky you.
Shut UP! are you kidding? Wow!!!!!! you gotta tell us everything.
think Ison just stood up long enough to report in to us then she fainted from the experience!
That’s about right. I posted more details above after a LOOOOOOONG day…
WOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWWOOOT!!!! That is so wonderful for the both of you:) I am officially jealous:) Happy for the both of you.Hope that wonderful sh** eating grin stays on your face for a LONG time!
Love Obama’s facial expressions when he’s interacting with kids. He is such a complete person. More than.
He is so real and not afraid to be silly with kids. I just love him!! But “he doesn’t relate to real Americans” or so I have been told.
My poisonous Halloween persona, Andrea Mitchell, just gave a double segment to Haley Barbour to discredit and criticize Obama. He repeated a talking point I’ve heard numerous times now: “President Obama can’t run on his record”. They’re trying to pound that one home, again believing if they repeat it enough it will become fact. Now she has on USA Today’s Susan Page who is saying Obama is in big trouble in states with big Dem populations. She looked happy saying it. And omg—-here’s Mark Halperin to join in the anti-Obama chorus with a big grin on his face too. Ewwwwwww. Andrea must be extra special mad at Obama today—-the stupid nut and yahoo (thanks jovie) leak? What a partisan anti-Obama mess Andrea Mitchell’s program is.
We will be hearing this BS for the next year. I guess they will once again be surprised when he wins big. Your right, they do think if they deep repeating enough it will be true. How silly they all are.
Ugh….So much hate….
And now she has on Trumpka and says, for all intents and purposes, Obama hates you and unions and he’s not going to win Michigan and Pennsylvania and so he can’t win re-election. It was really ugly. Andrea is on a real bitter tear today. Trumpka was great in response, denied every single thing she said.
Burlusconi is resigning after they have agreed to the plan!
One would think with AM having breast cancer, she would be more humble. Guess she’s never heard of Karma, especially as it pertains to hating on PBO. Just saying !
folks like AM have too much of a sense of entitlement and hate in their dna’s to feel and spew anything but hate;lies and snarkiness
Hamsher is also a cancer survivor – but the illness certainly hasn’t changed her perspective…perhaps just made her all the more bitter.
The picture of just his eyes is magnificent. PBO is a kid at heart.
Court Orders Trial Over Texas Redistricting Plan Signed By Rick Perry
A panel of judges in Washington, D.C. has ordered that there should be a trial on the Texas redistricting maps signed by Gov. Rick Perry, denying the state’s request to approve the maps DOJ argues limit the power of Hispanic voters.
Trumka just said that union votes are up for grabs.
Well, when he makes comments like that, I almost wished a republican would win. Almost!
What a fool, this guy is!
Oops! Never mind! He really stuck up for the President. It was mitchel and her leading questions!
OK. My bad too. I just tweeted him a snarky note. Oh, well. I am just tired with these little threats from people on the left. If they want to vote for GOP that’s worked overtime to keep them down, then so be it.
But I am glad to hear he was sticking up for the prez.
I don’t understand why he would make such a comment. Especially, since Republicans have showed and said that they want to break up unions. Weird comment coming from a union leader.
Well, it was mitchel and her leading questions, the whole interview was very supportive of the president.
Mitchel forgot her whitch medicine. She is terrible!
Jovie, I tweeted him this:
@RichardLTrumka So union votes are up for grabs? Good luck with GOP party that intends to strip workers of their rights. Enough w/Drama
True! I wonder why they go on these shows, when all mitchel tries and do is confuse people?
I mean how can you get your message out with these very pointed questions?
I sent Andrea a couple of tweets too, telling her that the media created narrative that PBO is not going to win re-election is a farce. I quoted the PEW report citing only 9% positive coverage given to PBO.
No wonder why NBC and lagging in the ratings race.
This is the same union leader who said they were not going to give money to the national DNC, or Obama. So that comment doesn’t surprise me at all.
This is the problem with unions, so many people think union members are all democrats, not true. As to votes being “up for grabs” if union members can’t see that the entire GOP wants to destroy them, then they get what they deserve. After Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, they should be working their asses off for all Dems.
True! I agree!
Letterman bringing Maddow to Ball State, his alma mater in In. for an event and a show:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law got a boost on Tuesday when an appeals court agreed with a lower court that dismissed a challenge and found the law’s minimum coverage requirement was constitutional.
The Appeals Court for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a lower court ruling that had found it constitutional to require Americans to buy healthcare insurance coverage by early 2014 or face a penalty and had dismissed a lawsuit challenging it.
“It certainly is an encroachment on individual liberty, but it is no more so than a command that restaurants or hotels are obliged to serve all customers regardless of race … or that a farmer cannot grow enough wheat to support his own family,” wrote Judge Laurence Silberman in the majority opinion, citing past federal mandates that inspired legal fights.
“The right to be free from federal regulation is not absolute, and yields to the imperative that Congress be free to forge national solutions to national problems, no matter how local — or seemingly passive — their individual origins.”
It was the latest victory for the Obama administration, which sought the new law to try to stem the soaring costs of healthcare and to increase coverage for the more than 35 million Americans without healthcare insurance.
Court ruling re Texas voter maps
By Tom Schoenberg
(Updates with excerpt from decision in second paragraph.)
Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) — Texas legislative and congressional district maps were rejected by a panel of federal judges in a lawsuit pitting the Justice Department against the state Legislature and Governor Rick Perry.
“The State of Texas used an improper standard or methodology to determine which districts afford minority voters the ability to elect their preferred candidates of choice,” the panel in Washington ruled today.
Disputed factual issues mean the court can’t decide the case based on arguments alone, the judges said, rejecting the state’s bid for approval of the plans without a trial.
good effing riddance Berlio you pound scum.At some point years from now if not decades Italy will recovery
RNC chairman on MSNBC, claims that POTUS beating ALL of the GOP does not many anything, DELUSIONAL!!
I think characterizing his statement as delusional is harsh. People in his position can’t go on air and say, “Wow, we might as well pack it up and go home because of what polls say a year out.” When you’re running campaigns you have to say stuff like, “It doesn’t mean anything.” And for the record, it doesn’t mean anything this far out.
Republicans don’t like to argue with facts, they just like to spew BS.
Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is the new public face of America’s worldwide fight against HIV and AIDS, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday.
Clinton made the announcement at the National Institutes of Health during an appeal for other nations to join the United States in creating an “AIDS-free generation.” In a letter to DeGeneres, Clinton wrote that the “enormous platform of your television show and your social media channels will enable you to reach millions of people with the strong and hopeful message that we can win this fight.”
congrats Ellen but I have a small gripe with this choice with all due respect to the SoS.Oprah Winfrey has much better global (although diminished.Lady wth were you thinking quitting ABC for your own Network? ) influence compared to Ellen.
Ellen is a great talk-show host but with Aids ravaging Africa and with Oprah’s school in Africa imho she could have done more.
Ellen is a big Obama supporter, through a fundraiser for him.
Maybe she asked for this, to help!
let’s hope so and maybe you are right Jovie
Right-Wing Judge Okays Mandate
Tue Nov 8th, 2011 at 12:48:10 PM EST
If Laurence Silberman says that the health care mandate is constitutional then there is probably little hope that the Supreme Court will rule otherwise. Let’s review Sliberman’s record:
Silberman’s sojourn in the world of political scandal began during the run-up to the 1980 presidential election when, as a member of Ronald Reagan’s campaign staff, he, along with Robert C. McFarlane, a former staff member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Richard V. Allen, Reagan’s chief foreign policy representative, met with a man claiming to be an Iranian government emissary. The Iranian offered to delay the release of the 52 American hostages being held in Tehran until after the election — thus contributing to Carter’s defeat — in exchange for arms.
A controversy continues to rage over whether the Reagan team made a bargain with the Iranians, as alleged by Gary Sick, a former National Security Council aide in the Ford, Carter and Reagan administrations who now teaches at Columbia University. Yet no one denies that the meeting Silberman was at took place, and although Silberman has said the Iranian’s offer was immediately rejected, none of the three Reagan operatives ever told the Carter administration what had happened. McFarlane, Allen and Silberman have all since insisted that they don’t know the name of the Iranian man they met with.
After working for Reagan’s election, Silberman was rewarded with an appointment to the D.C. Court of Appeals, the second most powerful court in the country. After the Iran-contra scandal, he was part of a three-judge panel that voted 2-to-1 to reverse Oliver North’s felony conviction.
I’m going to get back to the October Surprise in a moment, but I want to note that Judge Silberman is still serving on the D.C. Court of Appeals, and he wrote the opinion released today upholding the constitutionality of insurance mandate in the Affordable Care Act.
Grrrrrrrr—–Tamron Hall just let horrible Reince Priebus get away with saying that President Obama hasn’t fulfilled ANY of his promises. DOUBLE SIGH. I wish a TODer had a show—–I am sick of anchors allowing lies without challenge. She did try a little bit on other preposterous statements, but it was weak. He and other Repubs are getting away with framing that poll which shows the public is overwhelmingly not happy with the current direction as anti-Obama, without noting that much of that dissatisfaction is with the complete opposition of the Repubs in Congress.
MOST are with the TeaNUTS no matter the networks:Mitchell/Little George and the rest of the bunch are just paid readers like Don Lemon and Tamron Hall so they’ll let the Nutz lie their lying arses off without fact-checking and correcting them on the spot.Tamron is pretty to look at but utterly useless
I don’t understand that for the life of me! This is how Republicans wil elections..tell lies until yhe people believe..i.e “Death Panels”
I love this site! When you see the President with children you can see the heart of that man. I place a great deal of value in the ability of children to see into a person’s heart. Can you imagine a crowd of kids around people like Rush, Glenn, McConnell, or Boener? They would be weeping and running–(the kids that is)–well, maybe Bonear would be weeping along with them. Never have learned to spell Boner correctly. What a busy day–lots of news.
Auni…did you see that I gave you 2 new links to let your hard right “I hate regulations” friend? Check the past posts…If you can’t find them, be happy to send them again:) I say, never give up!
A bipartisan group of senators has introduced a 600-page bill to fund federal transportation programs for the next two years, which will be marked up in the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee on Wednesday.
“I am proud to be Chairman of a committee that has joined together across party lines to write a strong, job-creating transportation bill,” EPW Committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said. “I believe that our bill will not only protect the 1.8 million existing transportation jobs, but we will also create up to an additional million jobs thanks to the way our bill leverages federal funds.”
Good pictures, he loves kids!

Putting the ‘sabotage’ question to the public
We’ve been exploring for nearly a year the “sabotage” question: are Republicans trying to hurt the nation’s economy on purpose, simply to undermine the Obama presidency?
Over the last few months, the charge has become more common and more mainstream, with the question being raised by leading officials in President Obama’s re-election team, Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill, and a growing number of pundits and political observers.
Pollsters, however, have shied away from the question — until very recently. Today, a new survey from Public Policy Polling, commissioned by Daily Kos and SEIU, put the question to respondents nationwide.
Q: Do you think the Republicans are intentionally stalling efforts to jumpstart the economy to insure that Barack Obama is not reelected or not?”
Funny. Ppp polling takes suggestions on what to poll.
That was my suggestion. I wonder if others also said this suggestion? Lol!
The Third Woman
The Daily has identified one of the women who filed harassment complaints against Herman Cain. She sounds like the usual leftist liar:
Karen Kraushaar, a 55-year-old former journalist and seasoned government spokeswoman who served on the front lines of the Elian Gonzalez custody battle, is a competitive equestrian and lover of golden retrievers. She has been married for more than two decades.
“She wouldn’t be the type to make false allegations,” brother-in-law Ned Kraushaar, a Georgia software consultant, told The Daily. “This happened [more than] 10 years ago. It’s not like she wanted to try and hurt the Republican Party.”
I believe that a man capable of abusing power and then lying about it categorically has no place in public office. That’s why I couldn’t endorse Clinton in 1996, despite my support for much of his substantive record. There is nothing more central to the integrity of the body politic than a record of abusing power and lying about it.
Totally agree with you, rikyrah.
Just saw this on FB: http://thinkprogress.org/green/2011/11/08/363844/gop-sen-alexander-will-vote-against-rand-pauls-bill-to-kill-clean-air-rule-pollution-makes-our-citizens-sick/. Must say I am totally amazed that he is splitting. Wonder if others will follow?????
Remember he resign his Leadership role in September because of the debt ceiling fiasco…he said he wanted to be more bi-partisan
Yes, I know. I even called his office and said “Thank you.” I went on to remind his aide that now he must walk the walk…..he must have the courage to step out and do the right thing for his state and for the country and said I would definitely be watching.
But he gleefully voted against any and all portions of the jobs bill. He’s still an odious Republican.
Yes, he did and was I surprised? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s this about a building collapsing in Brooklyn NY? Saw a mention on Twitter.

“Rejecting criticism by China that the Obama administration’s goals for this week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit are too ambitious, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said the U.S. will “push the envelope” to promote trade in renewable energy technology.
Congrats to our isonprize and son for getting to meet our Prez. I’m trying not to be green as Kermit with envy. I got a real kick out of the pic of Flat Stanley greeting PBO. What a great treat this will be for Stanley’s ‘classmates.’ I bet that photo will be blown up big to hang on their classroom wall.
Hiya Chipsticks, just think of how many people have or will click on the link in the article! Your reputation will grow by leaps and bounds because those who do click will be amazed at how well informed and creative this site is!
