NYT: For several months now, Reggie Love has been living two lives. Some days he is a part-time student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, pursuing a master’s in business administration. On others he continues his role as personal aide, shadow, caretaker, basketball buddy and roving diplomat for the president of United States.

Recently his juggling act – White House work by day, statistics homework by night – proved too much, and Mr. Love, 30, made what friends and colleagues called a painful decision to leave the president’s side. His schedule had become so packed that “when he would describe it to you, you’d want to go to sleep,” said Arun Chaudhary, until recently the White House videographer.

WOW – but not the least surprising as we’ve always known. I’ve done google searches and found the exact wording for a given topic on multiple news outlets

They all subscribe to the same news service and Hollywood gossip news service. As newsroom personnel have been cut to the bare bones, they all just use what is handed to them by AP or Reuters. If you check news websites, you will see the exact same AP stories everywhere across the country. No one does their own reporting any more. Newspapers just assemble AP stories on their pages. I picture some AP writer somewhere chuckling about his immense power, selecting and shaping the news for the entire country.

That sounds like a description of Rupert Murdoch and son Jimmy.

          • November 11, 2011 at 10:40 am

Bingo! It’s a method that’s been used consistently by Faux News to help shape narratives and muddy the issues…at least that’s what “some people say.”~ This is an excerpt from a documentary about Faux News broadcasters. The documentary, itself, is fairly long but it’s been broken up into separate videos for YouTube.

            • November 11, 2011 at 11:05 am

Thanks creole. Is there a linky for that entire documentary ? would love to watch it.

murdock and darth are the two most evil bastids in the entire world.

              • November 11, 2011 at 11:36 am

amk, I don’t think the entire documentary is on YouTube. You may want to check because I may be wrong. I do know that you can rent it for $2.99 at Amazon Instant Video. You can find it on Netflix, too, but it isn’t streamed so you’d have to have the DVD mailed to you.~

                • November 11, 2011 at 11:42 am

Oh, I forgot to mention that Murdoch is a sick, twisted puppy. According to the documentary, and via on camera interviews with former employees, several stated that they believed they were being watched to determine who they associated with. Others believed that their calls were monitored (tapped) to discover who they talked to. Sound familiar? It’s an excellent documentary…

I saw the documentary on Netflix online streaming but do not remember the name of it. I was searching in the documentary section and pretty much louded most all political documentaries onto my que. It had a photo of Rupert Mordock on it and was all about Fox News. Very informative. Sorry, I don’t store titles in my mind. I guess I am prone to senior moments like Rick Perry, BUT I would never pretend I am presidential material.

Who is Mitt “the flip flopper” Romney lying too? ” I think people understand I’m a man of steadiness and constancy.” They must have change the meaning of those two words ( steadiness, constancy ) since I have been out of school.

I swore I expected that wooden man’s nose to start growing while he stood at that podium! “…steadiness and constancy” my ass!

  12. November 11, 2011 at 9:23 am

Cain and his R pals are playing a dangerous game alienating women. They have been looking at the world with blinders on for so long, they assume that everyone thinks the way they do. It would be the sweetest of ironies if women, who constitute slightly more than half of the population and live longer, abandoned the R’s en masse on election day. It seems impossible for any of the candidates, and I include Michele (I’m still living in the 50’s) Bachman, to recognize that they are living in the 21rst century where women have power, run countries, head multinational organizations and graduate from college at higher rates than men. The Koch Bros. generated Tea party tried to push us back to another era. But as their ugly and destructive intentions have become clearer, their schtick has grown old. Not catching the temper of the times, the R candidates are all engaged in the ‘wind the clock back’ mode of campaigning. That they are falling flat means that they are out of synch with the times and self-delusional about their appeal to the majority of Americans.

And speaking of self delusion. How much self-delusion does Romney have to have to think there is any universe in which he’s regarded as steadfast and constant? Of wait, I guess it’s the universe created by, for, and about Willard Romney.

    • 57 hopefruit2
      November 11, 2011 at 9:25 am

The more people see the GOP candidates the more they hate them. The opposite is true for President Obama – which is why he will win in 2012. Look at this new CBS poll showing the frontrunners down from the last poll. Now Mankini Newt is rising so I guess it’s his time to be flavor-of-the-month before he TANKS shortly thereafter.

      From Twitter (via Mark Knoller)
// Cain now at 18% (down from 25%), Romney at 15% (down from 21%) and Gingrich at 15% (up from 10%). //

      • November 11, 2011 at 9:37 am

The fucking ‘generic; republican, which the fucking pollsters use all the fucking time against Obama, would do better against any of these immoral, soulless, corrupt clowns.

    • 59 utaustinliberal
      November 11, 2011 at 9:28 am

You’re absolutely correct Jackie. They alienate women at their peril. Women vote. Let me repeat that. Women make up the bulk of voters and women make a lot of financial decisions in the home as to where campiagn donations will go. So they’d better wise up (tough thing to ask I know) and stop regarding us as inferiors.

As for Willard thinking that the word consistency and constant applies to him, that’s like me waking up and yelling “I’m King of the world!!!” It’s all bull sh*t.

      • 60 57andFemale
        November 11, 2011 at 10:32 am

But what about Republican women? Are they okay with these accusations? Are they okay with Cain’s mocking of these women since this story broke?

Right after the story broke there was an interview with a woman who is head of the Republican party in Iowa, I believe. She was all about ‘forgiveness’ because that was Christian, and his stated family values were that mattered.

How many Republican women are going to change their vote to Obama or not vote at all? Republican voters are still a peril.

Now the sort-of good news: this should wake up the Dem’s who would otherwise stay home.

Oh, none of this matters. Romney’s the nominee.

        • 61 Lovepolitics2008
          November 11, 2011 at 11:32 am

Republicans voted back David Vitter in the senate didn’t they? The republican “base” are authoritarian followers. They have been trained in their far right churches to not think for themselves, to not question their leaders and defend them against any “agression” from the outside. They are behaving like a cult.

        • November 11, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Romney’s willingness to support the Mississippi proposition with all its implications for women tells you all you need to know about where he stands on women’s issues.

    • November 11, 2011 at 11:15 am

Even thought I was a then Candidate Obama supporter (previously a Hillary supported because I didn’t know who Barack Obama was), one of things that actually blew my mind during the 2008 campaign was hearing women say that Hillary should not run for the presidency. That her role was at home or in some supportive capacity. Granted I am city ‘gurl’, but it never occurred to me that there may be women who still believed this way.

So there’s another book being pimped about PBO…..”Barack Obama in Hawaii and Indonesia………….”, by a Mr. Sharma. No, I will not buy another book about him. Even though this book seems to want to demystify the personna of PBO, I’ve kind of had my fill of folks making money off ot him. The author just gave an interview, and he basically summarized what PBO already wrote in Dreams for My Father. Nah, I think I’ll take PBO’s word about his relationship with his dad, and his “discovery” of himself, so to speak. If however, I draw that the book is truthful and favorable, I might give it a read, down the line. Right now, any monies I spend related to PBO, will be toward his re-election campaign. So there !

MEET THE LESS THAN ONE PERCENT WHO VOLUNTEERED TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY

    ========================================================================

From the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA)

It’s Veterans Week 2011 – Have you met the less than 1%?

They are less than 1% of Americans. They volunteered to serve our country. They led the battle overseas. Fight for those who serve. Invest in the new greatest generation.

So it’s just about 2 months away from the first GOP primary, yet 72% of the GOP voters still haven’t decided on a candidate. And the media wants to tell me that the GOP voters are “enthusiastic?” Sure.

    • 83 Lovepolitics2008
      November 11, 2011 at 11:56 am

I read a couple of weeks ago that it was 80%. Now at 72% is still very high. Which makes me question the validity of the polls we’re seeing day after day. Either the numbers only represent the 20-28% who have chosen their candidate, or the people”undecided” are asked to pick someone anyway thus the numbers for each candidate include some very shaky support.

When you publish a poll, the % of undecided and/or refusal to respond should always be included.

If I may, on a personal note—–remembering my uncle, Harley, a WWII glider pilot, who had flown numerous, dangerous missions behind enemy lines, a gregarious, spirited, fun-loving personality and loved by all, had arrived safely back in Ca. after the war. His excited wife had arrived at base to re-unite and accompany him back home. He and a buddy either volunteered or were asked on the last day there to test a new design of plane, which they did off the coast of Ca. Something went wrong, the 2 planes crashed, and the bodies were never recovered from the ocean. A very sad tragedy. So many servicemen have given their lives in all kinds of circumstances. Thank you to all.

11/11/11- Not Just a Funky Date

Posted by Paul Rieckhoff on November 11

    =================================

With the Iraq War set to end soon and the Afghanistan War entering its second decade following the death of Osama bin Laden, this may be the biggest and most important Veterans Day for our community ever.

So we’re celebrating in a big way. From Atlanta to San Francisco and Dallas to Chicago, hundreds of IAVA Member Veterans and supporters will be leading marches and events all across the country. And in New York City, at our country’s largest Veterans Day parade, nearly 500 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans will be marching up Fifth Avenue behind Aaron, reminding the country that they are the New Greatest Generation. They served bravely overseas, and now, they’re ready for their opportunity to serve at home.

Good morning, TOD~ President Barack Hussein Obama ” has pushed the envelope” on foreign policy. Sorry, but I just couldn’t resist it! :)

    Obama’s Foreign Policy Successes

The Republican candidates for president haven’t talked about foreign policy too much. Given that economic issues have been dominating the campaign narrative, it’s perhaps understandable that national security is largely absent from the debate. But also, the Republicans don’t really have much to criticize. Indeed, foreign policy has received scant attention during the televised GOP presidential debates. But that’s about to change. This Saturday, Nov. 12, CBS News and the National Journal will host the first debate focused solely on foreign policy at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. (CNN, Heritage and AEI will host another one on Nov. 22).

I just watched the video of PBO speaking at the National Women’s Law Center. Should be a MUST WATCH. You will never see a clearer distinction of where PBO stands on the side of not only women, but the country at large. Please watch, and as you do, think of all the Republicans running for President, and how they differ in their opinion of the women in this country…and the people in general. There is only one that stands for the women and people of this nation of ours. Barack Obama.Hands down. Please watch.

Seems I may have discovered the one thing about which Willard Romney is completely consistent, has never wavered or flip-flopped. His guiding star, his core. There is only one statement he has made that he has yet to contradict: “Corporations are people, too, my friend.” That’s Mitt in a nutshell (yes, pun). All his domestic and foreign policy hinges on that one statement. As President, he will do whatever it takes to protect and defend the Corporations of the World.

Wall Street And Corporate Greed Has Awoken A Sleeping Giant

After the Japanese launched a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is alleged to have said, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Americans have been under a sustained attack by conservatives for 30 years and since President Obama has been in office, they have escalated their assault on the people for the sole purpose of enriching the wealthy and their corporations. The Occupy movement represents the initial stirring of the sleeping giant that, like a hibernating grizzly bear, is slow to awaken but once fully conscious, will transform from a groggy, sedate giant into a ravenous carnivore. Arrogant Republicans appear to be oblivious to the increasing poverty and deplorable conditions their policies have inflicted on 98% of America, and instead of amending their agenda of preferential treatment for 2% of the wealthiest Americans and their corporations, they are continuing to assail the rest of the country unabated.

At the CNBC Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, the assembled candidates laid out their vision for America that is an expanded version of Bush-Republican policies that tanked the economy and contributed to the income inequality America suffers from today. The American people are waking up to a GOP plan that includes more deregulation, increased tax cuts for the wealthy, and elimination of crucial social programs and federal departments of education, commerce, EPA, and energy. The Republicans cannot give any positive benefits of their agenda to the American people, but they give away their intention every time they utter the words job creators that is not-so-subtle code for rich people.

    OH….MY….GOODNESS!~

When the Navy ship named after Medgar Evers made a test launch last week in San Diego, his widow wept.

“When that ship hit that water, I just boohooed,” said Myrlie Evers-Williams. “I just cried.”

On Saturday, she will christen the 689-foot dry cargo ship, smashing a bottle of champagne against the hull. It is the first Navy ship in history named after a leader from the modern civil rights movement.

The entire Evers family is expected to attend, including Evers’ brother, Charles, who took over as the Mississippi NAACP’s top leader after his brother’s June 12, 1963, assassination.

Well, I am not one for confrontation, but I am proud of something I did this morning. An acquaintance of mine has repeatedly put about a complaint on her FB page about President Obama not following through on his campaign promise of GMO labeling on foods. I have never once seen her put anything up on FB supporting the President, but just this persistent complaint. It no doubt rubs me the wrong way, so I added this to her complaining post…

“Do you think Cain, Romney or Gingrich will further the cause for GMO labelling? Let’s concentrate on supporting the President and point out all that he has accomplished so far and see to it that he is elected for another 4 years so he can continue to make progress in so many areas and let’s see to it that the republican controlled house and senate has a major shake up in 2012. The President has accomplished so much. Thank goodness he concentrated on health care reform when he did because the current “just say no” congress would have been no help! There is a great list of everything President Obama has done so far. I believe it is honestly called “WTF has President Obama done so far?” Check it out and get on board with supporting the President or see all the progess that he has made get wiped out if the likes of Romney, Cain or Gingrich get into office. That is my 2 cents. President Obama recently said something along the lines of this “quit your complaining. I don’t have time to complain. There is too much work to be done. Take of your bedroom slippers and put on your marching shoes.” “We must Press On!”. If your complaining turns voters off to voting in the 2012 Presidential campaign and a republican wins how will you feel then and how much closer to GMO food labeling will you be?”

I feel good for at least saying something. I hope she rethinks her position of singling out PBO as the reason she does not have the GMO food labeling yet. It makes me think of a child putting all her hope for one toy in the fantasy figure of santa claus and then if the toy doesn’t arrive her complaining that santa didn’t bring it, but ignoring all of the other beautiful gifts santa did in fact bring!

Good for you. Some people don’t expect confrontation when they whine like that. They think you’ll just nod your head and say, “yeah” and walk on. But when you confront, they really have nothing and sometimes conflate like a popped balloon. I tried this with a couple of whiners and it really worked. Show you don’t accept their nonsense and your fighting back.

Good for you, L&l! Isn’t it just a terrific feeling to give a pushback of truth? I wouldn’t call your response a confrontation, just sharing your opinion like your acquaintance did, with the added bonus that you offered a lot of truth.
