First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden at a ‘Joining Forces’ event before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 20 in Homestead, Florida
I absolutely ADORE the First Lady.
That is all.
Our beautiful FL doing good work for those protecting us. Chris Matthews can go suck a lemon!
You took the words, well almost the same words, out of my mouth. :) So, so, proud of the FL and Dr. Biden. I’m a NASCAR fan and know that many other fans are conservatives so it’s good to see them welcomed at this event.
Hiya, Chips!!! How’s work treating you.
♥ ♥ ♥ Good Afternoon Chips! Good Afternoon TOD Family! ♥ ♥ ♥
Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
“In the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it.”
Have a great evening, everyone! :-P
Perfect selection for the quote of the day!
I agree with the person that wrote about FLOTUS’ team should have known not to send her to a NASCAR event. The East Wing should have known as a black women she would not be received well at an event like this!!
She should hide from haters, instead of being out there proudly, doing good work? I think she’s got thicker skin than that and they only embarrassed themselves.
THIS!!! I watched it and she was pure class act. The vet’s wife stiffened, and Dr. Jill blinked slightly confused, but Michelle NEVER wavered. She still smiled and talked to the young boy in front of her. She was stellar! That is true grace and beauty under fire. Remarkable woman.
It was an utterly insane decision to subject her to these Teabagger scumbags.
Clip here – nowhere near as bad as I feared, but bad enough:
Sorry, but I ****ing hate these people.
PS Okay, I know a lot of you disagree and think it was right for the First Lady to go to this event – I completely understand that, and definitely, the booing further exposes these hate-filled f***ers. It just kills me to see such a warm and magnificent woman exposed to this hate, that’s all I meant. It ****ing breaks my heart.
gosh can’t bring myself to listen to that shit and I hate being right especially in this case :(
Oh boy! I wonder if rush or hannity put them up to it?
Their are a lot of military, that love NASCAR and are staunch republicans.
Maybe she feels she can reach them in a benign atmosphere.
But, Not so harmless, afterall.
They are a vile bunch. These are the kinds who used to go to lynchings and would bring the kids along to take a picture in front of the hanging dead black man. These are their descendants. They are pure evil. Make no mistake, these people would have boo Sasha and Malia if they had the chance.
But people recognize what went down here. The First Lady looked totally classy and poised. And the nascar fans looked like the inbred squirrel eating illiterate hillbilliy bigots most of the country assumes them to be anyway.
“The First Lady looked totally classy and poised.”
Absolutely itgurl, she is class personified. I love her. Sorry for bringing all this gloom, jeez I put someone on pending for this the last few days! I shouldn’t be remotely surprised by this, I really did expect it when I read she would be appearing in front of a NASCAR crowd, but it’s still so depressing.
he Chips. How’d you get only the love in “I love her” to be italicized? every time i try some thing like that, the entire sentence or paragraph gets bolded or italicized. :(
Here you go Lisa:
gracias, Chips! :)
Yes, Mahalo Chips~
Come on guys, are you going to let this tear you down. FLOTUS and Dr. Biden carry themselves with the class we know they have. Chris Matthews bother me a hell of alot worse then any booing. Our wonderful First and Second Ladies will be just fine.
itgurl. Your comment is pure poetry!
I want to listen, but I just can’t. Maybe another day.
Just going to appreciate Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden, and think I’ll contact them both on the White House website later, with my own little message of thanks. Even if a million of us said thank you, that would still not be enough of a reward for these two classy ladies.
It’s a shame we have so many small-minded, hate-consumed people in this country. But I’m not sure I agree that she should have stayed away. I think she should proudly go wherever there is an opportunity, to continue to reach out. She’s the one who is on the good side here, there to support the military outreach. It’s those in the crowd who chose to boo, who showed disrespect and an absence of decency, who should be embarrassed and shamed for their despicable behavior, and they are the ones who should not be there. Or anywhere. I’m proud of Michelle for her determination to do the right thing, to expose the hateful remnants, to help to bring the change.
That was it? A quick smattering of boos which nobody really seemed to notice or pay that much attention to? If that’s the best they can do in a deep red part of the country then I’d say the Obamas are doing better than I thought.
That’s true derbingle, but that they’d boo a First Lady at all – whatever about a President – is mindblowing.
In a crowd that large your always going to have a few stinkers. No surprise there. I’m just glad that the majority refused to go that route. Like I said if that’s the worst they can do in that part of the country then I understand completely why The President and his crew are opening campaign offices in all 50 states. Mrs Obama is probably going go back and tell him, “we can win this state.” :)
I think she’s done a lot of good by going there. First she’s great with the military families themselves, which is her prime objective. Second, she has just demonstrated to everyone who isn’t a racist redneck, that she’s got courage and class and the rednecks don’t. I would hesitate to generalize that ALL Nascar fans are racists, so I think the ones that aren’t may very well have been embarrassed by the booers and thought well of Michelle. I don’t think that the White House or anyone else should just assume a class of people are hopeless. We should try reaching out to everyone.
Completely concur Jackie. Apart from the fact that she looks gorgeous, she recognizes the fact that she is there for the military. She is there to shine a llight on the great job our men and women in uniform do everyday and the hard task their family undertakes in keeping the wheel turning. The haters and ignorant people may boo her, but I bet that at least one if not more people watching, found her visit useful and will commit themselves to doing a little bit more for the military in terms of community service.
Agree with your comment. I hate that she was booed (really hate), but she has just demonstrated strongly the type of woman she is, regardless of how this is covered. She didn’t just send Dr. Biden or a taped message—she showed up and no can say she ever excluded being around certain groups of people. Sensible people that hear about this will see her as willing to do anything for the military, and as I mentioned on the previous thread, there are a lot of Republican/Independent women that like FLOTUS, even if their partners and husbands may listen to Hannity and Rush. Also, the military gets detailed information about all these Joining Forces events and what is said and done on their behalf by FLOTUS and Dr. Biden. Keep this in mind if the media says this was embarrassing. I have a strong feeling that FLOTUS knew this would be a possibility, and chose to go and looking at these beautiful pictures, I know why she went. Classy woman, that’s our FLOTUS!!!!
The one thing about the talking heads :WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TWEETY, that I will absolutely commend, is the fact that they treat Miche with respect. I’d be surprised it I didn’t hear the heads expressing exasperation at the booers for treating Miche so disrespectfully. While PBO is fair game to them, they seem to treat Miche with the grace she deserves (from what i’ve seen so far—that is of course. with the exception of that dog faced clown, CM).
And as the President has said all along, he’s the President of all of America. The First Lady can put her feelings aside when her mission was clear–support military families, which is a bigger cause then some bozos demonstrating how not grown up they are. More than just NASCAR fans will be made aware of what happened and how she took it in stride. Don’t ask Her Mooseness about it though. She might just bring up her daughter being booed in Philly, which is how she chose to interpret what happened.
And it ‘s obvious the majority of the crowd did not feel that way. Yea to them. And boo to the booers.
She and Jill will go into “enemy” territory for the Military and their Families! I’d been reading the comments under TPM earlier and I liked this one. Most of them made me feel better about the whole thing..

“I am sure the administration knew this would likely happen. It is totally classless and ignorant but not unexpected. Michelle and Jill likely said bring it on. They have the grace to handle it.”
Brittany, you are so wrong, FLOTUS should not hide from anyone ever! Who cares what the racists think or do!
I completely disagree. This wasn’t a KKK rally. Nascar fans aren’t wild animals acting on instinct. They can control themselves and many people cheered like adults. It was booing, she can handle it. She wasn’t physically threatened. There are racists where ever she goes. If you really believe in what you said do you think Pres. Obama shouldn’t have ran for office? FLOTUS shouldn’t limit herself like that.
@gobrooklyn you are correct. But why does is still make me sick(literally) ?
Our beautiful FLOTUS doing what she loves. Supporting military families and passing out hugs.
I’m proud of them both (FLOTUS and Dr. Biden) for doing that. This day was about the military families. Who’s the one that show class, that show that they were raised by humans instead of animals that boo. Despite it all Michelle and Jill comes out looking like the wonderful caring loving people that they are. And I love and admire them both so much.
nice to see you FLOTUS and you too Dr B :D :D
I’ll wait to see/hear the tape of them booing FLOTUS. Can’t believe it until I hear it with my own ears.
It’s up thread. they boo but not as badly as what you expect. the boos can be heard just slightly above the applauding. It’s almost at the end of the vid. Miche was great through out. She walked away making everyone in the crowd that booed feel petty. She didn’t blink once the boos started. She was just herself.
And the First Lady handled it perfectly because, despite the ignorant claims that PBO didn’t know what he was getting into when he sought the presidency, they had to know very well what lay ahead, especially the effects of being the first black First Couple in America.
Wow, there’s a lot of chatter online about NASCAR crowd booing the FLOTUS & Dr Jill Biden standing with a Military family, is there a video on that somewhere? That’s disgusting and disrespectful, no matter what your political views are, keep that sh1t at home and not at an Event where the First Lady and VP’s wife is going to be. What is wrong with people in that crowd?!
On a lighter note, FLOTUS looks beautiful as ever and so does Dr Jill Biden
I listened the mediaite piece and it’s DISGUSTING
I just sent $50 to the campaign. F**** those neanderthals.
Great, great idea. F*** them. More donations for the campaign, and more boots on the ground throughout the campaign.
Let ’em boo and cry when they see President Obama re-elected.
Guys! I think it’s time to do a little money bombing! I’ll follow BWD’s example and show those tools where to stuff it: right in OFA’s back pocket!
Hey guys – while you’re bombing…..don’t forget Chipsticks. Her total is at $5,810 and her goal is $6,000. :-)
I was watching football, but I was wondering about the First Lady and the NASCAR event.
Thanks For the pictures that is!
You know, No matter how much I hated bush, I would not boo Laura bush.
It’s sad because it wasn’t like she was out there campaigning or anything. Even if you don’t like her, respect what she is there to do and that was to support military families. So they think they did something by booing her but really all they did was made themselves look stupid. I doubt that the booing even effected her. She is much tougher than that. That’s why she is FLOTUS and no matter who boos her she will be FLOTUS until 2016.
Oh God, now we’re gonna have a whole thread with “did they boo Michelle?” “did they not boo Michelle?” “Michelle shouldn’t have gone” “Twitter is saying this!” “Facebook is saying that!” agita. Oy vey….
I’m glad PBO and FLOTUS are unwavering in their positivity, and never take the easy way out. Bless ’em. Have a great night, everyone.
It’s okay. There’s already been a suggestion from BWD that we all just donate to the campaign, and #PressOn!!!!! I like that.
PJ, you made me laugh out loud – literally! By the way, thank you for today’s O’ Quote!
Here’s the link. You can hear what sounds like booing close to the end:
Miche was superb. A truly remarkable woman who showed what grace and beauty under fire looks like.
The gosh darn video won’t play for me. I guess that means I don’t need to watch it. I probably shouldn’t anyway. I don’t want to curse on this beautiful Sunday.
When I read Chips note about “teaming up” I was reminded of the blogs efforts to “team up”
We are making a list of folks who live in the same state, can work together to pressure local media, provide moral support and in general just work as a team.
Desertflower asked me to make a call for submissions today, so I am doing just that.
If you haven’t already given the information, please list your state and city below and I will add you to the web page.
The information is kept here
Bless you, WiW! You are right on schedule :) Let’s sign up, let’s do this on a local level, and get the truth out via local venues….I think it will be very productive and focused. 50 people/50 states….think about that :) Just because someone has already listed that state, DOES NOT mean that you shouldn’t sign up as well. Often times, the state is large and there are different newspapers, TV station websites etc…depending on the area you are in. ALL HELP IS WELCOME AND NECESSARY! Let’s do this thing!
We’re getting there! Just checked the site….WE CAN DO THIS!! TOGETHER !
Mary Gray Lake City, Florida
I am not sure how to do this. I am from Colorado!
What small, petty, hateful people those boors are. Big up to Flotus and Dr. Biden. They will be Flotus and Vflotus for the next 5 years, so this haters can go walk off a short pier. Bastids.
Don’t forget – what goes around comes around. People like that will regret it, someday.
So true and I hope sooner rather than later.
100% agreed with you on that!!! :-)
I can’t listen to stupid. I’m so glad that FLOTUS and Dr. Biden went and did this. They are SO much bigger than the ugly underbelly of America, and this proved it. Have you ever seen more beautiful women…inside and out? They are who they are for all Americans, whether the haters like it or not. I’m so proud of them! If there was booing, then their ignorance was just seen by everyone there, and on TV…NASCAR has a huge audience (though, sorry…I don’t know why) Some people there HAD to be ashamed. Maybe the pier pressure of those that were ashamed, calling the haters out in their own way, will make more of an impact. One can hope.
At least they can’t say that the WH is partial to just one group of Americans.
You know First Lady Michelle Obama and the White House are very much aware of the makeup of the Nascar crowd. Do you think that this is the first time that she was booed and spoken about in a derogatory manner. During the 2008 election they said mean things about her and they will continue to do so because of the pigment of her skin. It took nothing from her, but for those booers they should have had a ruin afternoon because they were very much affected by the presence of her. The announcer was disrespectful as well. He did not used protocol. He should have announced the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden and then the family.
First Lady handled it with grace.
God thanks for blessing the United States of America in spite of a few who are very ignorant and mean spirited and hateful.
So this makes the second time Republicans have booed our military. Smh
“NASHUA, NH — Accepting his most notable congressional endorsement to date at an afternoon rally here, Mitt Romney used the upcoming Congressional supercommittee deadline as his latest weapon with which to bludgeon President Obama.
“That committee looks like it’s headed for failure and some of the Democrats were asked well, what’s the president’s role been to try and help the supercommittee come to consensus and the answer is he hasn’t had any role,” Romney said. “He’s done nothing. It’s another example of failed leadership. He hasn’t taken personal responsibility to get this supercommittee to find ways to balance our budget and cut spending.”
Standing in the same public plaza where John F. Kennedy began his 1960 campaign for president, Romney also accepted a coveted endorsement: that of New Hampshire’s junior senator, a conservative rising star, Kelly Ayotte.”
1) The President convened the deficit commission that the Republicans once supported and then voted down after it receive the President’s support.
2) The President was the one in Washington pushing for a Grand Bargain, which this congress, in particular, John Boehner rejected.
3) The Constitution calls for each branch to put on their big boy and big girl pants and do their job. It’s long past time for congress to do the job that they agreed to do months ago.
4) You’ve been running for President for 6 years, yet you’re tied for frontrunner with three unelectable people and the highest-ranking congressional endorsement you have is a junior senator from New Hampshire?
I humbly sumbit, maybe President Obama’s disinterest in holding congress’ hand to make sure they eat their peas and do heir homework is not where your focus should be.
Mitt why can’t you close the deal?
I haven’t been to a NASCAR race since 2003 but I can tell you this, people who attend these sorts of events just aren’t the
sharpest tools in the shed.
New post here:
Join BWD and fight the hate with love.
Sorry for freaking out everyone, I was completely dumb to let these ****ers depress me. BWD has the right idea.
hey Chips – I am sure FLOTUS is fine. What happened today isn’t new. What is important is that the message got out to support our military families.
There are lots of places where folks believe the Obamas or Dems should not go because they believe it is a waste of time. But the Obamas give no quarter and that is how they win. Connecting to one heart at a time.
Thanks for all you do on TOD.
Thanks a million nospin, you’re completely right – and I feel way better after reading your comment. I went away and took a very deep breath after my NASCAR rant, even though the video wasn’t half as bad as I feared it just really upset me – as I’m sure it did everyone else. But BWD was right, all you do is dig deeper and fight back with even stronger support. Thanks again nospin.
I first heard of it when I was on TPM and the comments actually cheered me up. It was unsettling to me at first because she and Jill were there to talk about Joining Forces and I just hadn’t thought about them getting booed. I posted this up thread but I’ll repost this comment that made me feel better as well as most of them on there…for you, Chips..
PBO said that he is everyone’s president, even those who did not vote for him. Miche and Jill were there to continue their service to military families and this is where many of them are. The white house and she are well aware, as we are, of the profile of this group, but they do not demonize or assume that a group cannot be reached. Early in the campaign she had concerns about how she and the family would be received in Iowa, but she learned that many were warm and open. It was a good that she went there. She has the thick skin that is needed to survive in politics and as a member of a group that has been marginalized in this country. Those who booed are the lesser for their actions. She was not diminished in any way.
Nascar driver Kurt Busch flipped the bird at Michelle Obama on the track today. Time to go after his sponsors. I’ve never in my life seen anyone publicly give the finger to the First Lady in my life. Absolutely disgusting.
Here’s his twitter address: http://twitter.com/#!/KurtBusch22 Perhaps he should be shown how grown folks can disagree with other grown folks without being nasty about it?
Are you serious?!
Dead serious. He stuck his middle finger up at the First Lady of the United States.
NASCAR officials should also be contacted. Make him explain himself and ask them about codes of conduct. On whose team does he drive? Contact them too.
Wow! And, the other drivers gave them a pre-show standing ovation. Well, that should make tweety and joy reid happy..they may as well have too.
Kurt Busch needs push back on that and made to be held accountable .
Just donated another $50 to the Obama campaign. Keep booing folks…
In Des Moines, before delivering a rousing speech to defend President Obama and make the case for his re-election, Mayor Rahm Emanuel sat down with Chicago Sun-Times Political Writer Abdon M. Pallasch to discuss his rocky relations with unions—as he is called a “Republican Banker” by the Chicago police union president and a “one-percenter” by Occupy Des Moines protestors.
Rally to recall Wis. Gov. Walker draws thousands
Tens of thousands of marchers swarmed Capitol Square through a cold drizzle on Saturday to protest Gov. Scott Walker’s policies and promote a petition drive to recall him in two months. Capitol police estimated that 25,000 to 30,000 people marched, many holding signs calling for the Republican governor’s ouster.
Walker has been targeted by critics angry about his cuts to public education and the new limits he imposed on the collective bargaining powers of public workers. Organizers have until Jan. 17 to turn in more than 540,000 signatures. They have said they plan to seek 600,000 to 700,000 signatures to account for signatures that may be invalidated.
United Wisconsin, the coalition spearheading recall efforts, said the group is well on its way to having those totals. Spokeswoman Heather DuBois Bourenane said the coalition gathered more than 105,000 signatures by late Friday, putting them 15 percent of the way to 700,000 after four days.
Romney says, Obama should stop military cuts. Really?
Lisa says: Romney should keep his fucking mouth shut.
Military spending went up under PBO. This guy Willard Romney is clueless and disingenuous.
Wisconsin Christmas tree to grace White House
As the whine of a chain saw cut through the quiet, Sue Schroeder turned her back. “Oh, I can’t watch,” she said. The beautiful, 18 1/2-foot tall balsam fir quivered and shook, then began to lean before falling, not with a thud, but a soft balletic swish onto a green plastic tarp.
It’s not that Schroeder hates to see any of the evergreens on her family’s 160-acre farm cut – Schroeder’s Forevergreens sells several thousand Christmas trees each season at their retail lot in Neenah. It’s just that this tannenbaum is a beaut. And unlike most of the trees Sue and her husband, Tom Schroeder, sell, she will see this one again.
Destined for the most famous address a Schroeder evergreen has ever graced – 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. – the balsam fir will be displayed in the White House Blue Room. The Schroeders will present the tree to Michelle Obama the day after Thanksgiving.
h/t Meg Jones
Jovie–appreciated your comment that you would never boo Laura Bush. It’s a great point–and it’s what distinquishes us from them! If Kurt Busch did flip off Mrs. Obama, we just need to contact his sponsors–if he did he is going to be damn sorry! Upsets me to think about how the President will feel about his beloved wife being bood. Chips–it’s OK to sort of flip out about it–I am furious!!!
I just sent Kurt Busch a email. Will it do any good, no, because I’m sorry to say the world is fill with people like Busch and others. But I’m so thankful that this world is also fill with people like Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, and those military families. Michelle probably is on her way back home to have dinner with her husband and two daughters and Bo. I have a feeling she will be just, and I want all of us to be alright too, because the best revenge is not to get angry, but get even. What do I mean by get even, do all we can to re-elect President Obama. Then we can tell Kurt Busch and the rest who booed that day, to go straight to hell.
Ah tribalism, American-style. Not surprised at all. I distinctly remember that in 2008, the BAM racing group was gonna race one of its cars sporting the Obama campaign ad at a NASCAR Spirit Cup event in Pocono , but after so much angry backlash from Palin’s white hot rally crowd and other wingnuts, it led them to pull the deal.( http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2008/07/11/1658347-obama-passes-on-potential-nascar-sponsorship )
So I doubt the Obamas were surprised by what happened today. It’s to the NASCAR crowd’s loss that their rudeness was on full display.
But I don’t want no fucking Chris Matthews to tell me that PBO & First Lady Michelle Obama must “show gratitude.” For what? A regressive but corporate-backed segment of a country whose racism hangover keeps it backpedalling to the 1790s rather than embrace the diverse cultural tapestry of the 21st Century? Naw…
But the First Family is more gracious than I am.
Brava. You told it like it needed to be told.
preach Zizi preach
When you want to think about those losers who booed, take a look at the pictures of the military families. How warmly FLOTUS and Biden were welcome. Now I have to send that Alex Witt a email, but she sit there and allow Matthews to spew his hate. That wasn’t right.
I’ve been to Nascar races in California and been given dirty looks by other fans in attendance. But I was also welcomed and chatted with other fans. I think Carl Edwards is on the President’s Council for Fitness (maybe I got the name wrong). Personally, I think it’s better to money bomb the Obama campaign to show your support. It’s just impossible to address all the hate and stupidity in this world.
Just left church feeling good about the message re: Christ the King. Pastor reminded us that Jesus was spat upon, scourged, and then nailed to the cross and after all that still pleaded with his father to “forgive them for they no not what they do”. I’m sure Michelle like plenty of others who grew up outside the anglo world, got mistreated plenty of times and when she came home crying her mother told her like mine told me. Ok, I’m paraphrasing so bear with me: “Dry your eyes and hold your head high, because there will always be those who try to tear you down and as long as you know that you are a child of mine and a child of God you will not falter.” So my First Lady did and will continue to show class and dignity. And God will take care of the rest. Sorry to bring church in here but it is Sunday.
jacobslily, please do not feel sorry about your words of wisdom, or your Mother’s words of wisdom. Thank you for them. We can not let people like that get us down, we have to keep on marching. And they won’t get me down, because I believe the booing will not bother our wonderful FLOTUS and Dr. Biden. They will keep fighting on and we have to do the same.
Where can I get FLOTUS’s blouse? I want that top.
Hi Chipsticks and TOD Family:
I just woke up. Yes, I did not go to bed until after 3:00AM this morning . So I missed part of the day with my eyes and ears,(guess it was those sweets that my neigjbor placed at my door this morning.) But I took my med., and ate a lite early evening meal. Then I reached for my computer to catch up with my family here.
I read a little news and saw the word on Twittter about FL being treating so disrespectfully. Ofcourse, I am hurt, we are humans who try to live within a certain humane code of goodness within our core. But when I read the comments from Chipsticks, but heart sank.(And all of the comments for that matter.) But Chipsticks is very beloved to ALL of us within this family, and my heart pained to read her words. Chipsticks, you speak how you feel. This is your site and you hold so much in that we will probably never hear of or realize what trash you see everyday before you put up the threads for us. So I am lighting a candle for you, Chipsticks during this beautiful rainy evening in Cali. Yes, it is pouring down. I will meditate that the God of the heavens will wash away the vile, and hatred spirits that pained your heart from this incident, Chipsticks.
I love you and your candle that is burning will remind me to send some sweet energy to you tonight. We all love you, Chipsticks so very much.HZ
Hiya HZ, you have the kindest of hearts! Everything’s fine now, lots of deep breaths, and nospin helped calm me down – and BWD’s call for a moneybomb to respond to this madness was just the perfect reply.
I hope you’re doing okay HZ, how are things health-wise?
HZ…your words tonight and last night regarding our beloved first Lady had me thinking all night and today I could hear your words coming back to me. When I heard about what happened at the Nascar event I thought how you would be saddened once again. I am always reminded by my 82 year old father what Jackie Robinson had to go through when he first joined the NY Dodgers. The boo’s, the name calling…he said nothing, kept his head high and showed the world what he was made of. His actions, his grace opened the door for others to follow. She it is with our first family, and all of us here defend our President, but it is our beloved first Lady that we want to protect. She is not the politician here, she is a first Lady. What I fail to understand and I suppose it will never be “understandable”, is how someone like C Matthews says our first Lady needs to do more , “… like How bout connecting with the American people bout being Americans? I don’t think she’s … I don’t think she’s happy. I don’t think they like being in the White House. and the American people can tell that. They don’t seem thrilled at the fact that the American people have selected them as our first family. I don’t sense the gratitude.”
Why is there not an uproar from Americans about this statement? “I don’t sense the gratitude!!” How have other first ladies connected with Americans…being Americans?? Give me one example. Where are the questions asking CM how he has such a double standard? Meeting with military families …how is that not American? So like you my heart breaks, knowing we can do little, but our money bombs do feel good. I get paid next week and will contribute, but how I wish I had the money to combat these lies. I wish I could talk to Oprah and ask her for help in getting our voices heard. Where is all the money from those that have supported our President in the fight to stop the lies and double standards? Not from all us small donors but the ones that can afford to call a press conference, build a coalition of all our voices, asking the questions that the MSM fails to do..where are those that can? Are they not heartbroken too to hear what the CM’s of the world are doing? My husband tells me CM is ignorant, don’t listen to him. I don’t, but just because you have free speech does not mean you have a platform to spread lies. He has a powerful platform.
Not sure if you will see this HZ…but my heart hurts too. I’m in California also, San Diego.
She Walks with class and grace….
There’s a reminder of a painting at the white house of a little black girl with that same strength..
She knows her past, her ancestors were..Lynched, beaten, hung and bled for freedom…
The Beauty of her strength was in display today…She smiled HA!!! You think a little Boo-ing will tear me down?
First Lady Michelle Obama ~ I love you
I absolutely detest living in Miami every single day, but today I can honestly say I am ashamed to live in an area where FLOTUS and Dr. Biden are booed at an event where they are encouraging support for military personnel and their families. There are no words…
Oh dear. I just checked in and saw what happened at the NASCAR race. This is so sickening and sad. These people are a disgrace. I know the First Lady is gracious and brave but this has to hurt. I read all your comments and decided to respond the way BWD suggested by committing to a monthly donation to OFA.
No one could have worked harder on behalf of military families than Michelle Obama and Jill Biden. In fact, as the spouse of a man who served in the military back in the 80s I have often thought about the fake lip service that many people give to support of the military, thinking that pinning a cheap ribbon on a truck is somehow supporting the troops but doing very little to actually help. The things that this administration is doing for veterans is more than has been done under the Republicans for all their empty flag waving.
I’m glad the President and First Lady will be together tonight. I think of the way Michelle has held talks with young women all over the world encouraging them to see the possibilities in themselves and taken them on tours of universities and colleges and I think of the way she spoke to the young women in South Africa and what an inspiration she was. I admire her so very much and only wish I could approach the grace under pressure that she demonstrates all the time. These haters are cutting themselves off from everything that is good.
God bless her.
One more thing. The First Lady left home to take care of business knowing that someone just took potshots at her house. I’m just sayin’.
