President Obama at Manchester High School Central, N.H., Nov 22
….. ‘drumming’ along to the music after his speech
….. receiving a drawing from a child after his speech
Mitt Sees the Light:
OMG, those are genius!!!!!!
Words, like character, are a _itch when they are loose and used to mislead.
Take that Mittens!! We can play your game too. How do you like those apples (or oranges?)
We are learning that Mitt “Who Am I This Time” Romney is consistent at something – it’s LYING and MAKING STUFF UP. The dishonesty of his ads and criticisms of President Obama reveal a serious character flaw. There is a lack of integrity with Mitt Romney that is very disturbing. Flip flopping is bad enough. Now we can add that he is dishonest. That is a deadly combination and not worthy of someone running for the highest office in the land.
You’re basically describing the entire Repub Party over the last 30 years or so. I’m not joking.
Yes, and, it’s all wrapped up and robotized in one mittmopper who is front and center in the 2012 Election, major character flaw(as Ladyhawke so well described him) touted for all the world to see.
I totally agree with you, Ladyhawke, just Like I did this morning when you honestly labelled Romney a “Lying Flip Flopper”. The flip flopping was disturbing enough but this blatant dishonestly-lying- is IMO, an automatic disqualifier. We MUST get this message out to even the lowest of the low info. voters. Those 2 ads are a great start; hope they go viral. We need to do more.
What I can’t understand is why media outlets don’t have an independent truth squad that refuses to run dishonest and deeply misleading ads. Are there no standards for truth in advertising?
This is the time for Mitt to make his move. The TeaOP loves whoever is nastiest and ridiculous toward PBO. So Mitt, in order to finally become the republican frontrunner, has to go nasty. Their base isn’t interested in reason, progress or solutions. They just want a riot — the angrier and meaner, thebetter.
Let’s see what happens. Romney has a way to go to “out angry” and “out mean” the Newt.
Hey guys….don’t forget that Rev Al will probably air some of his interview w/PBO on his radio show today. Her is a yahoo radio link to the show…
When is he on?
1p – 4p. He just said that he would be airing the entire interview in a bit.
oh good, thanks :)
Ari Fleishsher, said Mitt Romney had a good day by putting out that lying ad. That speaks volume about Republicans.Because to me being proven to be a LIAR is nothing to brag about. There were already questions about Romney’s character, and this doesn’t help. Romney just proven himself to be a flip flopper liar.
LOVE THIS MAN. Steady, honest, forthright.
OWS are jackasses !
I can’t shake my anger. I’m not President Obama, he’s exceptional…..always respectful no matter what.
That movement that started in Canada mind you has been coopted by the far left from the start, Naderistes, and Republicans like Ratigan and Huffington.
They treat President Obama like a dog…. from day 1. No respect whatsover. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Now they’re going to heckle the President? You disrespect this great man, you’re a ********* loser in my book.
They treat him like a dog. Say it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-7XNfZDczs
If that heckler is the kind of people in the OWS, forget about my support.
President Obama didn’t tell that fool to go get a bath and get a job. He showed him respect, even though the heckler didn’t show the President any.
“I’ll listen to you, if you listen to me.” That’s what a leader says. No anger, smile and carry on.
But the love in that room is fantastic!!!
Look at those pictures!!! There are still so many more decent people in America than there are the ugly ones.
That is what President Obama keeps reminding us over and over again. That the nasty ones are the exception.
Which is why he refuses to feed into it and focuses instead on all that is best about America!!!
I look at these images and I’m struck by how the silent majority continue to validate our President’s faith in the goodness of us.
ROCK ON President Obama, ROCK ON GREAT MAN!!!
Excellent comment, Eleroy! I really loved the way President Obama’s supporters refused to allow the moronic mantra of OWS to disrupt the meeting! As usual, the President responded to them with his usual cool demeanor.
Love, love, love this President. that’s how you handle protesters. You don’t yell or lose your cool like flip flopper Romney, you just let them air their grievances – however misguided they may be – duh OWS he’s been fighting for you since day one – and then make your own point. Loved how that woman in the crowd wouldn’t give up on her Fired Up Ready To Go! chant and then the crowd began chanting Obama! Obama! Obama!. People who pay attention know how hard he’s been fighting or them and are not easily swayed by the movement du jour.
PBO knows how to handle any situation very well, AND MAKES HIS OPPENENTS LOOK STUPID so there will
be a bunch crazy people planted by the GOP when ever possible, but the PBO counter attacks are going to
be so good and very possitive ADDS nasty adds are not going to work against PBO this time they did not work
before and they will not work now trust PBO. The people in NH responded so nice that I am LMAO.
Say on, say on, say on!!
“Loved how that woman in the crowd wouldn’t give up on her Fired Up Ready To Go! chant and then the crowd began chanting Obama! Obama! Obama!.”
Thanks for highlighting this, UT. Today the media got a taste of President Obama’s “ROCK SOLID BASE!” Those “Obama! Obama! Obama! chants completely drowned out the OWS’s efforts to disrupt his speech.
It was simply magnificent…
I think the media was clearly reminded today that in spite of their best efforts, this spectacular Presidnt still enjoys the fierce support of a huge, diverse majority…
And they haven’t even met us TODer’s yet…
good on him.. he didn’t have to kick folks out, or be rude.. he was just Mr. President, always polite, always class, even when others are about showing their asses.
I find it utterly amazing that any OWS group would go after him.. with all the OBVIOUS obstruction by the Republicans on every single thing thats good for the low/middle income folks in this country.,. and they go after the loudest, most consistent advocate for the low & middle class in this country. Seriously OWS, are you that lazy? Are YOU that out of touch?
Until this, I’d not formed a difinitive opinion on these folks, I’ve just been keeping them sort of in my periphral vision.. but this behavior/decision of theirs bites. They need to quit following their latest media personality into the abyss of foolish.. and focus on the real culprits in this country.
sherijr, What were they bitching about? I couldn’t understand. Those people do not represent the 99ers. I am betting on anarchists.
I think about the arrests of ows people around the country. Which is really laughable in my opinion. Cops arrest people WRONGLY in this country every single day.. and they are known for being rough, overly aggressive OFTEN.. and yet you’d think overnight arresting people became something new under POTUS- and of course he made it happen. I’m so tired of everybody’s go to bad guy being President Obama. Its bogus. And it’s lazy.
I’m tired of every single news anchor asking, “Is President Obama to blame for this?” of every single guest about every single troubling situation, whether it’s here or around the world. It’s gone way beyond the absurd. A bit ago I heard a CNN anchor ask a reporter in Cairo if the protesters there were chanting anti-Obama slogans. Much to her disappointment, the reporter said they are protesting against the Egyptian government.
You nailed an important aspect of all of this: The media’s very large role in everything that portrays Obama as the ‘perp’. I mean thats exactly what they’ve been doing with black males for as long as they could get away with it.
That CNN anchor sounds really stupid. People in Cairo aren’t going to protest in the streets and be prepared to lose their lives, simply because they want to protest President Obama. It makes her look like she doesn’t even understand what’s going on over there.
I couldn’t understand what they were saying either. So they involve themselves in protests and think they won’t be arrested? Have they watched ANY of the civil rights protests. Going to jail comes with the territory.
It’s all about white privilege! No wonder they wouldn’t let Congressman John Lewis speak. He might have told them that civil disobedience most often results in being arrested and jailed. He would be speaking from experience given the number of times he was arrested and jailed during the 60′s.
Oh, I forgot. All the president has to do is snap his fingers and everything is solved. Talk about naive. They should be heckling their mayors and their governors–NOT the president.
Dorothy, you should read this:
I will say this–the President handled this with class and dignity. He’s a better man than me.
We have a couple of classy wonderful people in the White House in POTUS and FLOTUS. Look how FLOTUS handle those redneck idiots at NASCAR, and look how POTUS handle that loud mouth fool in that crowd. So proud of POTUS and FLOTUS. God Bless Them and I love them.
It’s so nice to see you back commenting! You’ve been very quiet lately. I hope all is well with you and your family.
I’m not convinced these hecklers were OWS members — who knows who they were???? I wouldn’t put it past PBO opponents to infiltrate the crowd!
As Dr. Phil sez – “this ain’t his first rodeo”. POTUS knows how to handle unruly children. :-)
So basically we now have the perfect response to the mic check. O-Bam-A O-Bam-A. Drown ‘em out and move on.
Exactly, Tien! That Obama! Obama! Obama! chant was very effective in silencing them. It also clearly demonstrated that, at least in that hall, supporters of the President overwhelmingly outnumbered his so called “disgruntled base.” On top of that, our calm and steady President handled the protest beautifully. He showed no anger or unease, but at the same he reminded the protesters of the importance of civility.
Brewer Prepares To Reimpeach Election Official Who Was Illegally Fired For Making Arizona Elections Too ‘Competitive’
Gov. Jan Brewer may make another attempt as early as this coming week to fire the chairwoman of the Independent Redistricting Commission. The governor said Friday her attorneys are studying the brief order issued late Thursday by the Arizona Supreme Court voiding the governor’s Nov. 1 decision to fire Colleen Mathis. She said all options are on the table – including recrafting the letter she sent to Mathis firing her in a way that might pass court muster. [...] In their brief order, the justices said that Brewer’s Nov. 1 letter to Mathis, “does not demonstrate substantial neglect of duty, gross misconduct in office, or inability to discharge the duties of office.” Those are the only reasons in the constitution that a governor can fire a commissioner.
Brewer noted, though, the justices did not say what would be legal and how she could fire Mathis in a way to satisfy the court.
h/t Ian Millhiser
The election official should just ignore Brewer and continue to do her job as usual.
I think that’s exactly what she intends to do!
check it out Arizona friends. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/group_that_recalled_russell_pearce_targets_jan_bre.php
GO ARIZONA….get rid of her!
Nice to see you creolechild. I am so glad I no longer live in Arizona.
Hi sweetie!~ Nice to see you too. How is every little thing?
good enough I guess. Getting ready for an exhibition and reading and typing as fast as I can. xo
She better be thinking about her own a$$ because we got a recall for her on the table right now. In AZ, politicians serve “at the will of the people” Just ask Russell pearce how that worked for him. If the people “will it” this arrogant B will be so GONE!
Aqua! Hi Boo-Boo…how you b? :)
Hola, Kiddo! I’m good but busy making life difficult for some in AZ and preparing for the holidays with my Fam. How’s by you?
LOL! I would expect nothing less from you. If you’re not making life difficult for someone in Arizona, I’d have to think about making a quick out there to find out why not! In all seriousness, aqua, I have no complaints. Just wrapped up my midterms, getting ready for finals, and looking forward to spending time with my family during the holidays before the spring semester begins. Have a good holiday “my little hell raiser” and try not to get yourself into too much trouble!~
He has lost the Seniors ???? Bwaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I’m so choked up looking at our President and that lovely senior man. God Bless Him.
Dakota that is such an amazing photo. So many elderly men and women are thrilled to be alive at this moment in time. I feel lucky in that same way. Never thought I would ever feel so attached to a president and feel as if I too have to protect and help him.
“Never thought I would ever feel so attached to a president”
Hi Dorothy. Did you not know that, according to msm, you are not supposed to be able to “connect” with this President, that he can’t “affect” the American populace. You must be from somewhere else…. LOL. Good to see you here :-D
Well said Dorothy! I feel exactly the same way you do about this President. I also feel so blessed to be in a company of very smart young people who recognized the goodness of President Obama and have bean unwavering in their support.
So many people know that their very lives depend on keeping this man in office, and all the hard work he does every day is for them.
As I wrote in the other thread, Seattle Brown, the girl in pink, was crying moments before President Obama came over to her. I was assuming it was because her mom said that they were going to meet the president, and it looked like he was getting ready to leave and she wasn’t going to get the opportunity. So I was happy to see him come over to shake her hand. All better—-President Obama to the rescue—-no more tears.
So..this is the man that doesn’t connect to Americans? I guess my eyes are lying.
Yeah right. I was furious this morning when Jon Meacham said on Morning Joe that President Obama “did not like people”, and that people who feel like that “should find another line of work.” And PretendDem Harold Ford AGREED with him.
I was born in DC and spent several DECADES working in the government under Presidents of both parties. This President and his wife relate to people better than any other President in my memory,
Jon Meacham is not the only one I’ve heard say this CRAP about Pres. Obama not liking people. I have NO IDEA where that line comes from, but I guess if you say ANYTHING often enough somebody will believe it. Everybody on Morning Joe start spewing that nonsense after one of Joe’s rants, and he CALLED in. He wasn’t even present on th set this morning. I’m trying to find a way to contact Meacham right now to tell him how I feel about what he said.
The propagandists find PObama’s strenghts and go after them. And, tweety a$$hole went along with it too. There needs to be Major pushback on this. They should be held accountable for their propaganda! Speaking of Tweet-ing.
All we need to do is send them all these pictures that Chipsticks has assembled, and then ask a simple question that Carla4Obama posed above: “Are you telling us our eyes are lying to us?” I’ve lived under nine Presidents. I know of no other President who connected with people, both young and old, throughout the world, the way President Obama does.
Pure projection. The only people President Obama has problems with are the Beltway people, the cocktail party goers, the gossipers, the corrupt, the cowards, the lazy.
All those people who are peddling this absurdity that President doesn’t like people ought to be INONDATED with photographs who scream the exact opposite, accompanied by the truth: “PBO doesn’t have any problems with ORDINARY americans. GET OUT of the Beltway bubble, you might learn a thing or two…”
I’ve never, ever, ever seen a president treated that way. I’m not sure racism is that big a factor. It seems to me that the most important thing is that PBO is a TRUE outsider, a true defender of the PEOPLE, and is a treat to the status quo in Washington. He refuses to play their games, he refuses to trade favors, he refuses to pander to political operatives and media people. I wonder if deep down inside, they know that he is exposing them for their intellectual lazyness and their moral corruption.
They just want him to go away.
They want him to go away because he is so much smarter than them and does not have to listen to them, follow their advice, or come on their shows. He’s just not that into them!!!! Their feelings are hurt – awwwwww!
‘The only people President Obama has problems with are the Beltway people, the cocktail party goers…’
And there is the nub of their problem with PBO IMO, because in the world of the critics the Beltway are the only “people” who truly matter! Notice how often and how many of them comment on the fact that they are not invited to the White House** (often enough), that they are not included in the inner circle, that the Obamas are aloof (to THEM), that there is not enough partying that includes them, yada yada. They are mad that the Obamas do not court them but do not want to come right out and say this. When we Obamabots accept that this repeated aloof comment is valid only as it applies to them, we will no longer be surprised when it is aired. In fact we might just smile when we read that the Obamas ‘did not like people’ if we mentally substituted ‘fawning beltway types’ for ‘people’ and mutter ‘The Obamas are so smart’. ;)
** I have actually been amazed by how many let it slip that their feelings are hurt BECAUSE they haven’t been invited to the White House! They probably anticipated a swinging door policy since in their opinion the Obamas should have felt SO privileged to be included in the movers and shakers DC group. Imagine their disappointment that the Obamas created their own group of movers and shakers, ie. regular people!
“Pure projection. The only people President Obama has problems with are the Beltway people, the cocktail party goers, the gossipers, the corrupt, the cowards, the lazy”
Lovepolitics2008, you hit the nail on the head! I think people like Matthews and Olbermann are miffed because the President has not granted them a one on one interviews.
I am waiting for the msm to inform us about the amount of folks attending GOP rallies/events.
So far, I only hear mice pissing on cotton. That is how silent they are on that topic. They know that would stop the foolishness about folks not connecting with our President.
HA, love that, never heard it before and if you don’t mind, I will steal it
Simply beautiful. I love him to death. What a mighty man!
This is the man who’s supposed to have so much trouble “connecting” with people and is supposed to be disliked in NH. Guess these New Hampshirites didn’t get the memo. There isn’t candidate or celebrity in the world who wouldn’t kill to get this kind of reception. I’m sure people will be rushing forward to hug Newt when he travels there.
You speak the truth. I get so sick of people acting as if he is a robot. I had a friend that PBO has no feelings for others. You notice I said had a friend.
The proof of his extraordinary connection to people is in the way children react to them. Children know when adults don’t like them, and whether they are safe to approach them. Children LOVE this President. When is the last time you saw a child run out and embrace a President the way they do this one? IN my experience–NEVER.
Children are the key……we’ve known this for years. They are God’s little angels, and they know love when it is presented. And no, no other president has ever commanded the attention of little ones. And a lot of us big kids, too :-D
That last picture spoke to me. He must have said something to the President and that hug from PO said. . . just hold on. Just a little while longer.
I love it. Thank you Chips.

Reality has a well-known liberal bias
By Steve Benen
As expected, the super-committee failed. And as expected, major news organizations are dutifully telling the public that “both sides” are to blame, as must always be the case in all instances.
In an online discussion yesterday, Washington Post reporter Paul Kane was asked to justify this kind of coverage, given that “there is no factual basis for blaming both parties equally.” Kane didn’t seem pleased with the question, responding:
My disgusting rag of a newspaper had an article blaming PBO for the failure of the Super Repugnant A$$hole Committee. I wrote them a blistering LTE. Will see if they have the guts to print what I wrote.
I’ve got PBO in my ear right now……so soothing. Interview with Rev Al, just about to end. Lovely !
I just looooove how the President gets down to little people’s level and meet them where they are. I feel like he just hugged every child in America! By the way I am a child at heart, Mr. President!!!
hoping for a Presidential hug Frenchie;aren’t you? ;)
I’d pass out if the POTUS were to just walk past me much less give me a hug
I know Fred. I had a dream one night that I got a hug from the president and I woke up with my arms around myself and a BIG smile on my face! True story.
we’ve all had that dream Frenchie
I do need a big HUG from PBO he is just wonderful how lucky was the nice man and good for him.
The Great Rope a Dope trick
Barack Obama learned a political trick from Muhammad Ali called Rope a Dope. For you youngsters, this refers to the epic Rumble in the Jungle Heavyweight fight against George Foreman in 1974. Here is the Wikipedia explanation.
Last summer during the debt ceiling hostage crisis, Obama appeared to be the loser, but yesterday Republicans woke up to the reality that they lost Big Time–that we were going to get $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions, with 50% of the cuts coming from the military and none of the cuts from Social Security and Medicare. The Congressional water carriers for the Military Industrial Complex are in a panic.
President Obama immediately threatened to veto any attempt to undo the spending cuts. That means that Republicans would have to get a 2/3 rds majority to undo the first meaningful cutback in the Military budget in 60 years. In addition, if Obama also threatens to veto any attempt to restore the Bush Tax cuts in 2012 (they expire automatically on January 1, 2013), progressives will have totally changed the inequality dynamic, without having to pass a single piece of legislation.
So why aren’t progressives celebrating this morning? Got me. As long time readers know, it has been my contention that the key to revival of our democracy and our economy lies in radically reordering where we spend our collective resources. That more than 60% of our discretionary budget flows to the Military Industrial Complex is just the most egregious example of Crony Capitalism. If you had suggested to me last spring that a Republican House would pass a bill cutting $600 billion from the Pentagon budget over ten years, I would have called you crazy. But that is just what happened. So there is only one election that matters a year from now. And that is that President Obama will be reelected and able to keep his veto threat. There is no possible 2012 electoral realignment of the Senate and House that would give the Republicans a 2/3 rds majority. This is an amazing victory and all we have to do to hold on to it is reelect the President.
h/t Jon Taplin
excellent creole thanks for the article!
Maybe it’s time to stop calling these whiners “progressives,” and to start to call them what their actions define them as: Obstructionists on the Left, the Shortsighted, Saboteurs, etc. How about defining them by their incomes, professions, social positions, political track records, or by their allies?
I guess a better name for the ‘progressives’ would be ‘regressives’. I can think of plenty more names for them but I won’t repeat them in civilized company!!
Yes, great! Exactamundo! And so many of them are one percenters! It’s mindboggling!
Yes! Saboteurs is the perfect word for me, it’s the same word in French……I can relate, les saboteurs.
They are saboteurs, they love misery and deep down they don’t want anything to change for the better. It gives them a sense of purpose.
We Progressives are CELEBRATING! WOOT HOO! It’s the Inveterate whiners and suckers for greenham-huffnpuff-moore-cenk-ko-et all who are still stamping their tiny feet and crying about unicorns.
Look at those smiles!
I love the love and respect that PBO receives on his foreign trips, but there’s nothing like an American home crowd to energize the Prez, and he deserves every bit of the good vibes. I always send a silent “thanks” to my fellow countrymen and countrywomen who greet POTUS with such enthusiasm and joy. Nobody does it like we do it.
I’m filled with overwhelming emotion when I see these photos! I look at every face for the vicarious pleasure it gives me. It is so reassuring to have such an unafraid leader in times of such distress. He carries much on his shoulders. And his confident and loving spirit fills the room and makes others feel hopeful—as if we WILL survive this, we WILL overcome—all of us working together!
Yes F, I also enjoy watching the faces that watch the President when he is talking or when he is greeting the members of the audience. There have been times when the look alone on the face of someone in PBO’s presence touches something deep inside me.
Yes we can, and I believe, Yes we WILL in 2012!
I know Mort Zuckerman has always had his critics. But I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him as atomically lame as he is on MSNBC this afternoon. In particular, he just claimed that Super Committee Republicans proposed a plan that had $250 billion of new tax revenues, almost all of which would come from the wealthiest Americans.
I’m sitting here talking to my congressional reporters. And as I thought, that claim is demonstrably false. I wonder what white papers he’s smoking? He seems just to be parroting claims from Rep. Hensarling (R) and Sen. Toomey (R), but ones where the available numbers simply didn’t back up the claims.
h/t Josh Marshall
Everytime Mort Zuckerman appears on Morning Joe, all I hear are lies, BS, lies, BS, lies, BS, lies, BS and on and on and on.
Pretty concerning. We can rejoice that President Obama has put republicans in a difficult position. Problem is that the DAMN MEDIA is too incompetent or too coward to contradict the republican talking points.
This becomes a PR battle between President Obama and the peddlers of misinformation. It will take a lot of effort and imagination to win this battle.
I hope David Plouffe and his team bring their A-game into this. Whole pages In local newspapers, national address,… The works. And if he could put Jack Lew in front of a camera… The man is fabulously competent and exudes honesty… Very credible. God, what I would give to see Mr. Lew crush republican “experts” in a public debate.
Lovepolitics2008~ don’t forget that the POTUS has US, a legion of supporters in his corner! Pragmatic blogs are growing and filling the void for people who have come to the realization that the “peddlers of misinformation” (I like that phrase!) are doing them a great disservice. So, we have to do our part too by pressing on and calling the GOP on their lies every single chance we get!~ :)
Extremly well said, Creolechild! The MSM can go on peddling “misinformation” and, sometimes, no information. Out task is to ignore them and keep “pressing on.” Like you, I am absolutely delighted to see the impressive increase of pragmatic progressive blogs. This development must be reinforced by our active involvement in grassroots organizing and grassroots donations to the campaign. We need to render the MSM irrelevant!
I keep imagining our own publication on newstands! Our own Barack Obama truth in advertising. Our own daily webcast with interviews and discussions about the initiatives and accomplishments, plans and organizing needs for moving the country forward. Our own television show! Oh, but it’s only a dream. How to break through. How to pay for it? Who would organize it? Funny, but apparently OFA can’t even keep it’s own website troll free! How gross is that? No offense, OFAers, but why is that? Is it dedication to freespeech, or a lack of monitors, neglect–what? Is there no way to have a separate space or section for those who want to have free-wheeling, dispiriting conversations where chaff and wheat can roll around together, rather than sabotaging a goodly endeavor with interlopers of the negative kind? *sigh*
I hear that! But, in lieu of that, fancieful, TOD is the best thing I’ve seen as far as getting facts and truth out! And, Bonus History in a running Photo Journal of the Obama Years in Office. I haven’t gone to the OFA website and read the comments..oh, dear..that would keep me busy. But, there’s no time left in the day after RL, TOD, and all the other pragprog boards I visit. Good thing I’m retired.
Oh, indeed, Cha! I also don’t work outside the home and this is the first and last place I come to for daily nourishment of the inspirational kind.;-) I also visit many on the blogroll, but really nothing works for me like this site. That’s why I miss BWD. It was she who brought me ‘out of the darkness’ (lol) of Dkos! I only continued to go for her and Sisterspeak. Now, I don’t even go there for Blackkos(?) anymore. I get Dee Oliver at Motley Moose or nowhere unless someone like Smartypants tempts me for a hit-n-run to the GOS.
But, maybe Talley could host a webcast, podcast whatever about our candidate and his admin. We could have an AV version of The Obama Diary. With her skill level it would be a hit! Utaustin could do recaps; zizi could be our internationalist, etc.—oh, the mind reels with possibilities!lol
Zuckerman is a know liar…. Remember when he claimed he wrote a speech for our President ? The white house said…. Huh?
Anyone who got taken in by Bernie Madoff has no credibility with me. Zuckerman lost a lot of money with Madoff.
Awwww—–look at the hug with the old guy—–young and old—–we all love him. Proof is in the puddin’.
Wow—–look at all that “not connecting”!
He doesn’t connect with those hard working white people and he lost the youth vote, and don’t forget the women!!
AWWWW…look at those precious pictures……..Thank you so much Chips:-)
the lady with a white sweater with her hands over her mouth is in AWE looking at the President hugging the little girl:-)
O/T I am pissed and lost all credibility on #OW..they can go to @$@$@%
They lost me weeks ago when I saw so many of them talking about “writing in a candidate” for President next year because wait for it……………………………………………………………………BOTH SIDES ARE EQUALLY BAD. LHM!!!!
By the way Herman Cain is claiming now that his race will help him win over African American voters
is he right????????? realy?.
yup. Cain is right Mel. I think the Republicans SHOULD nominate Herman Cain. He will certainly bring in the AA vote.
Go ahead GOP. Make Cain the nominee. Really. Don’t take my word for it. Just ask Herman’s wife what she thinks about ol Hermie’s chance of being elected. Gloria’s response when she was asked about her husband’s qualifications on Greta Van Susteren pretty much reflects the mindset of AAs. Gloria spoke for me — eye roll and all.
Fox News: Angry Senior Citizens lunge at President Obama over proposed Medicare Cuts
Chris Matthews: Tonight on Hardball “Is President Obama happy? New Pictures from NH say otherwise”
Ben Smith/Politico: Young People desert Obama in droves….Obama plays to empty high school gymnasium
BWAHAHAHA. We’re all getting really good at this.
well done LOL.. between you & Chips we have the media’s outline for most anyday always at hand ;)
I see msn has a headline that reads: “Obama’s Reversal of Fortune in NH” I just know I don’t want to read it.. thus I’m asking if anyone here knows whats up? Is today’s media talking point all about how POTUS “haz lost NH”.. ??
His speech was right on today (of course) but what was really entertaining and touching was the crowd afterward.. so happy to shake his hand, hug him. The one little girl standing up with a picture of POTUS she apparently had drawn of him- the one he caught & hugged when she nearly tipped over.. was too sweet. He is loved. The media/GOP is gonna have one very rude awakening come November 2012.
I don’t know what today’s talking point is, but it probably is what LOL wrote above. :-)
I was going to post about this earlier..it’s First Read, MSNBC’s political blog’s morning summary. So they state that the Prez is in trouble (shocking). But here is why. They state that if the Prez were to lose so many states (FL, NC, and a couple of others) and win a few western states (NM, CO) he would NEED…NEEEEEEED I say…..NH’s 4 electoral votes. But he is in trouble because of the following asinine reasons:
Williard’s from that area, even though he has lived there for the past 4 years and STILL has not locked up that state for the GOP Primary
The Population is 93% white, even though Iowa, Maine, Rhode Island is just as white maybe even more
They just needed to cobble some BS story about NH together because the Prez was going there….but judging from the pictures they can take a long walk on a short pier :)
I’d say your last paragraph is spot on LOL ;) Thanks for the info.. I can rarely bring myself to read or listen to the nasty about him.. it is almost invariably madeup/lies, etc..
I knew that after all his many successes last week- the media would be in overkill attacking him from all arenas this week.
It is just such a blatantly circuitous argument. Didn’t NH have the same percentage of whites when Obama trounced Mr. New Hampshire “John McCain” in 08? Where they not pimping that “Obama is not a real black- so blacks won’t vote for him” argument in 08. Even the “Browns vs Blacks” story was played. If you are going to write a story, at least write something that has not been proved demonstrably false with you know, voting.
Oh yeah….the BS story of the day will be Tony Rezko being sentenced to 10.5 years. Get Ready for the insinuations
Yep you’re right.. and thanks for the headsup on Rezko.
They’ve already released the headlines as “President Obama’s fundraiser, Tony Rezko…”. We knew that was coming.
Hahaha. The Romney ads are hilarious. Keep up with the lies Willard; you’ll just keep making a fool of yourself and giving the Dems and PBO more Ad ideas.
Mr. Romney is a goofball.
Right on. So Mit you can shovel it, but can you take it??
Word is that Romney leads with a glass jaw.
Oh mittmop can shovel it high..but, he cannot take his shite be truckloaded back onto to his robot, wind him up and out pops a lie, self.
Change in Pennsylvania electoral votes going nowhere
It was a b.s. transparent attempt to screw over the D’s so I’m glad it fizzled. A Republican-sponsored proposal to change how Pennsylvania’s electoral votes are counted in next year’s presidential election appears to be running out of steam. Gov. Corbett, a key supporter of the idea, suggested Monday that it was going nowhere for the time being.
The proposal surfaced in September, with Corbett marketing it as a way to more fairly divide electoral votes to reflect the preferences of Pennsylvania’s voters. It split Republicans and drew heavy criticism from Democrats, who called it a partisan attempt to hurt President Obama’s reelection campaign and to minimize the influence of the state’s large number of registered Democrats.
h/t Taegan and Paddy
It’s going to go nowhere because it would end any Presidential level interest in the state as the split would be a forgone conclusion, whereas now they always poll as a toss-up state and with it’s big numbers both candidates give it a lot of attention.
Corbett is a snake and I don’t trust him not to resurrect this monstrosity if he feels it will give him political advantage. My hope is he gets so snarled in the Penn State scandal that he can’t even think straight in the months ahead. He dragged his feet on this scandal so that he could win the election. He put more children at risk for his own ambitions. I want everybody in the state to know that in the months ahead.
I had similar thoughts when I saw this, Jackie. I wondered if he was backing off because he had his hands full with the Penn State scandal that was covered up for so long?
Regarding any polling in New Hampshire, remember it’s basically Romney’s home state these days. He’s lived there for years, and is entrenched there campaigning for the GOP Primary. All the voters have been getting the last six months is GOP candidates telling them how bad Pres Obama is and how bad shape the economy and America is.
Please remember that New Hampshire takes great pride in not being taken for granted. In 2008, they chose Hillary over Obama in the primary because they wanted to stop PBO’s momentum and demonstrate how “independent” they were. And then they came home on election day and helped make Barack Obama president. New Hampshire is like the girl who doesn’t want her boyfriend to assume he’s got her. She wants to be courted. Today PBO played the first scene in the first act of courting New Hampshire. He just told the voters there how much he loves them. And they smiled and said, I love you , too.
And then they gave him a hug. :)
I normally do not watch TV during the day….but left it on after this…. I flipped over to MSNBFOX and Rachel Maddow just kind of put Mrs Greenspan in her place.
Mrs Greenspan asked her to comment on the “some are saying” that PBO was not engaged with the Stupor Committee. Rachel set her straight on that by reminding her that the Republicans did not want him to interfere. Then when they knew it was going to fail…they tried to drag him in and blame him.
So good to hear positive reports from the corporate propaganda section! Thank you, LInda. Mitchell gets outed as a whining gop talking point carrier by Rachel Maddow. Sweet.
Listening to Rev Al, Melissa Harris-Perry stating that since PBO was her state senator in Hyde Park, he has always been a highly strategic politician, and that msm who thinks they know him, or discount him, know nothing of who he really is. That he never plays all his cards at once. Rev Al says just maybe PBO knows he needs to play this way, was smart enough to do so……that’s why he ended up in the WH. This is what I have been telling people for 3 years, who rail against how steady and seemingly aloof PBO seems; why he won’t shout or debase anyone. This also explains how he can be in his limo in 80 degree temps while Reggie Love was hot as hell…… :-D Mr. President Gorgeous is just….COOL!
Notice how those who want him to shout/debase are the ones who are the shouters and the debasers? They want Prez to be just like them. Isn’t that special? gag.
Here’s a blast from the past…
CHART OF THE DAY: If Congress Does Nothing, The Deficit Will Disappear
June 24, 2011, 6:20 AM
On Wednesday, the Congressional Budget Office released its updated long-term budget forecast, which looked surprisingly like the previous version of its long-term budget forecast. It showed, as one might expect, that if the Bush tax-cuts remain in effect and Medicare and Medicaid spending isn’t constrained in some way, the country will topple into a genuine fiscal crisis — not the fake one the Congress is pretending the country’s in right now.
While all this — from the findings to the politicization of them — is perfectly expected, the forecast also presents another opportunity to remind people that the medium-term budget outlook is perfectly fine if Congress adheres to the law as it’s currently written. That means no repealing the health care law, for one, but more significantly it means allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire, and (unfathomably) allowing Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors to fall to the levels prescribed by the formula Congress wrote almost 15 years ago. In other words, no more “doc fixes.”
Helpfully, CBO juxtaposed these two alternative futures in a pair of graphs and, just as last time, it projects that deficits will disappear entirely by the end of President Obama’s second term (if he gets a second term) if Congress were to just sit on its hands and do nothing.

Some of the OWS people really need to learn who the true enemy is
Are the folks pictured here OWS hecklers? Which one gave him the note?
They don’t get it…..the problems with the police are local issues…..The failures are with the local mayors.
I think the Governors are the ones that need to stop this. It has nothing to do with the Federal Government at this point.
See they cry about how they are apolitical and will not be co-opted but want the President to come in and stop the pushback from local police. It just seems you can’t have it both ways. Either you believe that he supports your cause or you think he is the enemy. I just wish they would make their minds up.
They compare what is going on with Egypt and Syria…they have a problem!! there’s no comparison whatsoever.
They are mad at the President for not speaking out, they are mad at the President if they think he might co-opt the movement, they are mad at everything.
And the like of Micheal Moore feed that anger for his profit…didn’t he say last week that President Obama gave the green light for police brutality? It was a lie but it spread like wild fire online….President Obama was a traitor….I’m sick of these people.
The Egyptians demonstrated AGAINST a dictator; these folks are demonstrating FOR one? Yikes!
They claimed that they were “apolitical” only when people asked why they weren’t ccupying congress to support the president’s jobs bill or why they weren’t registering voters. But when it’s to make demands on the President to call out police, banks, Wall Street or anyone else at their behest, they aren’t “apolitical” anymore.
Exactly. I smell hypocrisy. They’re bitching at the one eprson who has been on theri side from day one. That’s just pure and utter senselessness.
Funny how that works, huh? The Freedom Riders received much worse abuse than what is being meted out to OWS; bricks, bottles, and racial slurs was what many black school children in the late 60s received while on their way to try and receive a decent education; Civil Rights activists were hosed, beaten to a pulp, jailed, had police dogs sicced on them, and were murdered; many communities of color are routinely under seige harrassed by police officers–many times for no good reason other than the color of their skin; young black and Latino males are stopped and frisked at wil; and how many have been killed by “overzealous” police officers who receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist as punishment in the form of desk dutry or paid leave.
Perhaps some of the younger members of OWS believed the movement would evolve into some sort of Power to the People New Age Woodstock type of deal? This is not an attempt to disparage those who are actually raising valid issues and have a strategy to help change occur, but if members of OWS who are demanding that the President intervene had actually given this some thought along the way or had a deeper understanding of the blood, sweat, and tears that was experienced by participants of the Civil Rights Movement they would have KNOWN what was eventually going to come their way. How could they not? Unless their particular status in society (white privilege) didn’t allow them to consider the possibility that THEY would be treated like the OTHER…
What a rude awakening, that power doesn’t give up its power easily. Now, they’re upset! Really? Well, welcome to our world!~
see creolechild. That is why I am hard pressed to even blink an eye.
nospin~ there you go! OccupytheVotingBooth…’nuff said.
Hopefruit, I just wanted to thank you so much for all the fearless work you did in exposing this OWS movement. From your comments, and the links you supplied, I began to have doubts about the motives of the leaders of this movement. Consequently, I began a serious examination of this movement. Although many of their ideas are commendable, it’s very clear that this is a movement that embraces anarchism. It also appears to me to be a movement made up of a great many people who are anti-President Obama.
More importantly, the more I examined OWS the more I realized that the movement had not really formulated specific goals for bringing about fundamental change. Positing Occupying Wall Street as the main goal made absolutely no sense to me. The only way Wall Street behavior can be changed is through the political process. This requires electing members of Congress and a President who supports reforming Wall Street behavior. IMO, any movement that prides itself for being “apolitical” is not seriously engaged in bringing about fundamental changes on Wall Street.
They remind me of teenagers who want daddy to leave them alone, to let them do their thing, but who will ask for help the minute something goes bad.
I’m sorry but they make me sick!
I have a lot of time for the sincere OWS people Donna, but sadly – and predictably – the movement is being hijacked by Firebagger types, and self-promoting fakes like Moore, Greenwald and Uygur.
Chips, I guess because I spend a lot of time on FB and see how this has evolved into a both sides are bad meme and nothing, I mean nothing positive IMO is being done by this group other than having “the conversation” and disrupting stuff with no clear purpose. They are all over the place with no clear direction and I guess as an activist I just feel its a waste of energy. Poll after poll is now saying that they are losing the publics interests because they did nothing with all that goodwill they started out with. I’m just frustrated with this group. I knew they would start mic-checking him. It was so predicable.
They march through the streets calling him a puppet of wall street and a bankster and then after talking about him like a dog and putting him on the same level as those selfish dolts on Wall Street they pass him notes to come to their rescue. He is a better person than I (Thank God!). Sigh!!
I read an article on TPV which states that Greenwald is POed at the Unions for taking over the movement. Jealous I guess.
Also here is an article about PBO’s latest pardons http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-pardons-5-commutes-1-sentence-for-convictions-ranging-from-selling-drugs-to-gambling
I agree Donna. I am sick of hearing about them and seeing them. If they have a message what is it?
When the results of a poll showed that almost 60% of OWS did NOT vote in the 2010 elections (punishing the President for not waving a magic wand and fixing everything 3 seconds into his presidency) that’s when I was pretty much done with them. These are the people that opened the door for these Tea Party snakes and now they’re in the streets going nuts because they’re without jobs. This is their own fault! And they’re the ones being punished.
The thing about OWS is that they are not realizing that sleeping in parks are doing nothing to change the income inequality in this country. Politicians on Capitol Hill are making all kind of laws to continue the income inequality in this country, and they are more worried about yelling and sleeping in parks. The movement will be over soon, because snow will come soon.
“snow will come soon”
They won’t vote for President Obama in 2012…they know nothing about politics, about the separation of power…what the President can and cannot do.
Most are very ignorant……perfect target for Michael Moore to make more millions.
That note is nothing but a set-up. Another tool to use as an excuse to try and bring down. PBO has lots of enemies, nearly all of whom are political and social neanderthals. But for his sake, he has more friends, who will see to nothing less than having him continue on as our Commander-In-Chief. I think we can all, smugly, say that we were forwarned about OWS, and chose to not get suckered into this s0-called movement, which to myself, was always an attempt to take the momentum from PBO’s Jobs Bill. So plain to see.
I wondered what that note said when it got passed to him. Someone had a good telephoto lens. And I’m totally cracking up at the editing. Geeze, too much.
I think there are legitimate frustrations out there but this OWS movement has been totally co-opted by dirtbags. And I really don’t understand why it’s about occupying pace. Why are people fighting for the right to sleep on the street? It’s stupid.
should read, “occupying space”
Thom Hartmann had callers call and say a short message to the police officer in Seattle that pepper spayed and used his club in the midsection of a pregnant woman who was saying she was pregnant at a Seattle OWS protest. The woman just miscarried.
I am deeply sorry that this happened and my heart goes out to the pregnant woman and her family. But this was a SEATTLE policeman who lost his head and way overstepped his bounds. He has many disciplinary layers over him, from from Police Chief, to the mayor, to the governor and probably a lot of oversight boards in between. The president of the United States cannot supervise every policeman. This is an example of very fuzzy thinking on the part of OWS. It’s like they walk around in a daze and can’t keep straight who they’re supposed to focus on.
Oops, guess we should have been paying more attention to the Obama administration’s crackdown on police brutality
I must admit that watching the OWS supporters rail about police brutality all of the sudden is rather interesting. Apparently the truism about it depending on “whose ox is being gored” has been born out once again.
I remember some of the same people who are doing the complaining now are the one’s who wanted us to STFU about Professor Henry Gates getting manhandled and arrested inside his own home (and no, I’m not making an equivalency argument, but that shit goes on in the African American community every g-damned day). They also didn’t want President Obama to comment on it because it was a distraction from the “really important issues” of the day.
Now all of the sudden they are suggesting these police tactics are somehow the President’s problem and demanding he do something about it. Here’s a recent twitter by Joan Walsh that set off a firestorm last night.
The militarization of cops came after 9/11 under Bush. It wasn’t that Davis decided to go nuts. Our president now has something to do w/it.
Read more: http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2011/11/oops-guess-we-should-have-been-paying.html
Perhaps Joan Walsh should spend less time on Twitter and more time becoming familiar with the articles that are posted on her site BEFORE running off at the mouth and making a fool of herself–yet again!~
Obama cracks down on abuses by big-city police departments
Monday, May 30, 2011 4:01 PM Eastern Standard Time
In a marked shift from the Bush administration, President Obama’s Justice Department is aggressively investigating several big urban police departments for systematic civil rights abuses such as harassment of racial minorities, false arrests, and excessive use of force.
In interviews, activists and attorneys on the ground in several cities where the DOJ has dispatched civil rights investigators welcomed the shift. To progressives disappointed by Eric Holder’s Justice Department on key issues like the failure to investigate Bush-era torture and the prosecution of whistle-blowers, recent actions by the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division are a bright spot.
In just the past few months, the Civil Rights Division has announced “pattern and practice” investigations in Newark, New Jersey and Seattle. It’s also conducting a preliminary investigation of the Denver Police Department, and all this is on top of a high-profile push to reform the notorious New Orleans Police Department — as well as criminal prosecutions of several New Orleans officers.
h/t Justin Elliott
I’m not understanding your response. The woman was part of the OWS protest and told the policeman she would leave as she was pregnant not to hurt her. This was not a blaming PBO incident nor did Hartmann. This was an unfortunate occurance due to the police using too much force and not allowing protest. You are correct that there are many layers involved also there is always a chance of problems in participating in any protest, but I feel it shows how force used can always have potential of problems. That was the same place the 84 yr old woman was pepper sprayed in the face.
I replied before reading all the posts below my first post. Didn’t know about the blaming part till now. Sorry.
Oddly, the most egregious behavior by police happens in cities run by very liberal Mayors. Seattle police have a history of playing dirty. I’m sorry this woman lost her child, but let’s not condemn the officer until it is proven that his actions resulted in her miscarriage.
We all pretty much knew this ‘movement’ would get out of hand; it was inevitable. Full time protesters never make for change.
I always joke about the photos GOPolitico use of the President and First Lady – the most unflattering they can find.
Good grief, they are utterly pathetic!
Chips you have them dead right. They are beyond pathetic!!!
And pure ugly, Donna, pure ugly.
I did have to laugh. It is so to be expected. I wonder when they will start darkening his skin?
Give the evil devils time, dorotohyrissman. Just give them time. These are evil people deep within their hearts and their deeds willl always come out as evil.HZ
HuffCrappo used to do the same thing. Always making him look sad, angry, tired, sallow.
Yes, they do meta. You are so right . However, we see him differently, thank God. With all of the crap that he has to take day in and day out, only by the grace from God, he keeps stepping with grace, class, beauty in spirit and mind, and loving us.
That is what keeps me going. Yes, I cry like hell alone and with my best friend via phone, and I cry out to God to please serve justice on these hateful people, and I believe in my heart it will be done.
This is why I love Chipsticks so much because she is calm, intelligent, beautiful in her spirit, but she calls it like it is and does not take crap from anyone. That is the spirit that is within us here. Yes, we are going to have our rants, but we know where our North Star is , and that is the difference.
Do not think that our President does not have his days and nights in that WH, just like some of us. He is human as well, but he also knows where his North Star is as well. He is a very, very strong and tough young man. His faith is strong. He has his core from two very, very very strong parents. And don’t even mentioned his beautiful and very, very strong grandparents. He is no spineless President, not matter what the evil fools say. Oh, no..
They better watch more carefully and read some excellent well written books on this President.. I totally enjoy going back and reading several. Today, My President read to me from “Dream From My Father,” Yes, it helps a lot. Study up, firm up on the details and factual information about our President. We will need it to get us through this 2012 election, believe me. Re-read “The Audacity To Win” by Plouffe as well. Gird yourselves up with the power of his words from the past!!!!! Gird yourselves up with truth. We Will Prevail Through This.HZ
The thing that’s odd here is that the GOP spent an entire year trying to get people riled up about the deficit and demanding spending cuts. Now suddenly they’re against spending cuts? Huh?

Pennsylvania’s electoral scheme faltering
By Steve Benen
A couple of months ago, Pennsylvania’s Republican governor, Tom Corbett, and GOP leaders in the state legislature launched an ugly election scheme, hoping to help tilt the 2012 presidential election in their party’s favor. As Keystone State Republicans see it, if they change how Pennsylvania doles out electoral votes — awarding by district, rather than winner-take-all — they can conceivably deny President Obama at least 10 electoral votes next year.
How’s the plan going? Not well.
A Republican-sponsored proposal to change how Pennsylvania’s electoral votes are counted in next year’s presidential election appears to be running out of steam.
Gov. Corbett, a key supporter of the idea, suggested Monday that it was going nowhere for the time being.
“I see no movement on it. I’m not going to push for movement, but I still support it,” Corbett, a Republican, told a Pennsylvania Press Club luncheon.
It’s an obnoxious, abusive scheme. The fact that it’s struggling is an encouraging sign.
That first picture had me in tears! Problem connecting? Come on!
Here is the C-SPAN video link for today’s NH speech by PBO…..
Thank you Chips for these lovely Pictures of PBO. I will now go send them to Tweety and Andrea Mitchel. Plus BenPolitico will have to see how Obama has lost him base.

False equivalencies are the real ‘shame’
Long time readers may recall that I had some concerns about Ron Fournier’s coverage of the 2008 presidential race, back when he was the AP’s Washington bureau chief. The high-profile political reporter, who admitted in 2007 that he entered talks to join the McCain campaign as a paid staffer, and later sent encouraging emails to Karl Rove, covered the Obama-McCain race with a series of questionable pieces.
Fournier is now with National Journal, publishing pieces like these on the breakdown of the super-committee process.
Shame on Republicans for a stubborn unwillingness to seriously consider tax increases.
Shame on Democrats for keeping a closed mind to significant benefit cuts.
And shame on President Obama for standing idly by as Washington failed again to get the country’s fiscal house in order.
Well, one of those sentences makes sense. The rest are just lazy and superficial arguments that aren’t supported by the facts.
I remember Al Giordano’s epic take-down of Fournier. He did some masterful investigative journalism that helped get Fournier fired from AP.
If Newt were President all the children would be cleaning the bathrooms instead of seeing and meeting the POTUS.
Only the poor children. And the unbathed. And those who weren’t already working in their orphanages. Per Newt.
I am so glad Barack Obama is our President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the latest abject humiliation for Mitt Romney, as yet another unelectable clown becomes the front-runner. It’s not often I agree with Paul Begala, but the Democrats must be somewhat aghast at their good luck. Check out the favorable/unfavorable polls on Gingrich assembled here. Republicans like him, but not without some severe doubts. But the general public really doesn’t. His best rating is a negative 3. More typical is a negative 16. Even Rasmussen’s white/GOP-leaning sample backs Obama over Gingrich by 6 points, with Pew and Quinnipiac showing Obama’s lead in double digits. His foreign policy team – breathlessly unveiled by Fred Barnes this morning – puts him in the neocon, pro-torture, “America-is-never-wrong” camp. Among the kinds of statements we can expect more of – get ready tonight for more “profound”s, “total”s, “completely”s – is the following drop of oil on troubled budgetary waters:
The Congressional Budget Office is a reactionary socialist institution which does not believe in economic growth, does not believe in innovation and does not believe in data that it has not internally generated.”
The CBO is just a branch of the Congress that is widely respected for its scores for legislation and refuses to build into its calculations now-discredited theories about how cutting taxes increases revenues, among other such “conservative” innovations in math. To pick on the CBO as “socialist” is to attack, as Newt has since he first appeared in politics, yet another respected institution in Washington, the better to condemn them all. But note how even McCain’s leading 2008 economic adviser reacts to Gingrich’s nuttery:
did we EVER get West Wing Week?
Yes, we did, R, BUT it was less than a minute in length.
Rikyrah: It’s at the bottom of the picture section of this post, and it’s dated 11/17/11 – A Preview (52 seconds in length)
thanks guys…I’ve seen that one..I thought we’d get a whole one by now :(
I support the President completely but I also support the sincere expression of OWS and it makes perfect sense to me that they would ask the President to speak out on their behalf. If I know my President he will find a way to help. In situations like this I have always welcomed his addresses for example after Gabrielle Giffords was attacked and other people were killed. He can make a difference for the protesters’ safety.
What does OWS want POTUS to say? I don’t even think they know what they want him to say or do. They are confused about their agenda, and OWS will end soon with no accomplishments. Heckling him at a rally will not stop police brutality.
These days, OWS has become the fringe left version of the Tea Party. They want bloody revolution and believe everything is President Obama’s fault, and believe the only possible person to fix it all… RON PAUL!!!!!
I initially supported OWS but they’ve become too co-opted by Michael Moore and the Ron Paulites that it’s become a perpetual joke. OWS claims to have “no leaders” but are allowing people like Michael Moore and Ron Paul to speak for them, what the hell sense does that make?
OWS had the potential to be something, but it’s been wasted thanks to the likes of Michael Moore, the Ron Paulites and the emoprogs. They’re just a bunch of loud obnoxious folks who piss pretty much everybody off… heck they don’t even tolerate dissenting opinion or criticism. I just wish there were more people like the Kenny Mack fellow who called out Cenk Uygar and Dylan Ratigan for co opting OWS. Oh well.
I’m not sure he will be able to “help” them to their satisfaction. I sincerely believe OWS is an anti-capitalist movement at its core. He believes in capitalism. He wants a strong banking system. He wants balance, but he isn’t going to go as far as they want with things like student debt forgiveness or a massive redistribution of wealth. He can’t do it even if he wants to.
What do you want him to say? Most of them hate the President. Stop by DK to see what they say about the President, all supporters of #OWS…..They are Naderiste, Paulites, libertarians….for the most part.
Glenn Greenwald was p******d about the SEIU plan to OccupyCongress….I don’t know what date it is but it’s soon.
”the Democratic party and its retainers are going to try to co-opt Occupy Wall Street.”
”Having SEIU officials — fresh off endorsing the Obama re-election campaign — shape, fund, dictate and decree an anti-GOP, pro-Obama march is about as antithetical as one can imagine to what the Occupy movement has been. And pretending that the ongoing protests are grounded in the belief that the GOP is the party of the rich while the Democrats are the party of the working class is likely to fool just about nobody other than those fooled by that already. The strength and genius of OWS has been its steadfast refusal to (a) fall into the trap that ensnared the Tea Party of being exploited as a partisan tool and (b) integrate itself into the very political institutions which it’s scorning and protesting”
They don’t want his support, they don’t want him to coopt the movement BUT they want him to talk about police brutality. It’s local issues….It’s not Syria.
That’s the movement………..
Glenn Greenwald is certifiable. He was the main voice behind the talking point that killing Al Awlaki was a murder of an American citizen, just because he happened to be an American citizen. He also had the audacity to compare BWD to a Nazi over Twitter… IMO Greenwald is NO different from the Rush Limbaughs/Sean Hannitys/Bill O Reillys of the right.
I got put in the time out chair at HuffyPuffy for going after him……
What are the legislative or policy objectives of the Occupy movement? The main message that I get from the OWS movement is that they will occupy spaces until they are forcibly removed by the police and then they will find a new place to occupy.
The sit-ins of the Civil Right Movements had a clear objective: to protest and dismantle racial segregation through non-violent civil disobedience.
What are the objectives of the Occupy movement? To keep occupying and re-occupying until…. what is achieved?
At best the Occupy movement was the start of something. It showed the world that there are a number of like-minded people willing to publicly protest wealth inequality. That’s the start of something.
But until that unleashed energy is translated into events like the Move Your Money movement, that inspired 650,000 people to move their money from banks to credit unions, instead of being the start of something great, by winter it will be the end of something pointless.
Nahhhaa…their objective is to “have a conversation” anywhere they please to raise awareness and then when they get arrested blame the President.
Christi, DK has become the breeding ground for OWS. Kos should just go on a head and change the name of that site to #OWS and get it over with.
They definitely have an obsession with OWS.
Why should he speak out? They going said to that its too late and what took you so long. They have also accuse him of being a bankster and being responsible for the attack on OWS encampments. How come they don’t ask the governor in their states to said something? It is always Obama fault.
The message on the handwritten note is just as confused as the messages from the OWS movement. They note asks the President not to speak up for the 99%, which he has consistently done since he ran for office, but rather for the less than 1% of the 99% who are part of the OWS movement.
I am starting to feel as much affiliation with the one percenters of the 99 percenters in the OWS movement as I do with the one percenters on Wall Street, which is none.
OWS is all about them – it’s not about any message, it’s about “hey, look at me, I got arrested, I’m just like the freedom marchers/riders now!”, “look at me, I’m fighting the police”. Long lost is any message about 99% against the 1-percenters. Now they try to get Chancellors to resign and cops to be fired – how many banksters or lobbyists have they had fired? How many elections have they had any positive effect in?
Why is it when Dems and Police unions worked together in Ohio and Wisconsin good things happened electorally, but all OWS wants to do as fight the police to get their badge of “look at me I’m a hippie” honor.
He’s already spoken out on their behalf–both thru Jay Carney and in responses to questions. I will look for those quotes later. He has also spoken out on their behalf in legislation passed and in legislation proposed. While he has articulated in less polarizing terms the overarching message of OWS (income inequality) he should not get involved with the personality/ties of OWS. His voyages throughout the world and treks across the country demonstrate his commitment. Those behaviors say “I am not powerless, and therefore, you are not powerless. Stand with me and we can solve this without polarization.” THAT’s his demonstration on their behalf. Have they no obligation AT ALL to support those whose actions support them?
They want a speech? They want him to do it their way? He’s the president of the cops and the criminals, the rich and the poor, the black and the white, the gay and the straight—and all those in-between! Stop this shit, people! Give him a bigger stick, and you’ll get a bigger victory!
However, if you distrust government, then…..Well, here’s hoe Booman analyzes that:
Let Me Explain Myself
….People are wallowing in self-pity and petty recriminations. There’s a party on the right that is attacking us on every conceivable front, and some that aren’t even conceivable. I am not going to list them because you know the list. And so many liberals just ignore all that and find something they can fault in the president. If liberals want to be ascendant again, they have to embrace power again and step inside the system, take responsibility, get their hands dirty, and cut the holier-than-thou bullshit.
PPP: Obama, Romney Tied In Pennsylvania
President Obama’s approval rating in Pennsylvania is down to 42 percent in a new poll from Public Policy Polling (D), as the President ties former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney in a head-to-head contest at 45 percent. In a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans, Romney ties Obama by pulling more Republicans to his corner (81 percent) than Obama pulls Democrats (76 percent) and then wins independent voters by two points.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, currently surging in the GOP primary process, is down by six in a matchup with Obama. PPP said that all is not lost for the President in a state he won by ten in 2008, but much improvement is needed to keep it. From PPP’s analysis:
Luckily for the president, he has not yet fallen behind the Republicans hoping to depose him next fall…The president is ceding 11-16% of his own party’s vote, more than the 10% reported by exit polls in 2008. He is losing independents by up to three points and winning them by no more than seven, when he beat McCain by 19. He is cushioned by still taking 8-15% of the GOP (versus 13% in2008)…“Pennsylvania is Barack Obama’s most worrisome state for 2012,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “He’s slipped there more than in any other large state and the electoral college picture changes fundamentally if it goes into the GOP column.
MORE POLLING TROLLS. OBAMA HASN”T EVEN STARTED CAMPAIGNING.
Oh please, we haven’t even started the campaign season and Romney is the same as generic Republican in people’s mind’s now. Wait until he starts opening his mouth and people in PA really hear him. I believe that the Dems will come home big time in Pa and that he will get a majority of independents. OFA people will be all over the state in a few months. They have started earlier with a better structure than 2008 and they will go into warp speed when the time comes. Pa also gets great support from NY, Washington, DC, NJ and MD when it comes to canvassing and phone calling. Remember that PBO lost big to Hillary as late as May before the election and then McCain put major resources into the state in late summer because polls showed Obama was weak here. But on election day, the PA cities woke up, poured it on and gave PBO a huge lead over McCain. So Dean Debnam can stuff it.
When Romney gets past 32% as the Republican nominee.. . . maybe I will pay closer attention to polls.

Family Leader Narrows Endorsement Consideration
Evangelical Iowa organization The Family Leader has just released a statement letting voters know that they are “still praying for clarity on whether or not to endorse a candidate, and if they endorse, who to endorse.”
In the statement, Family Leader President Bob Vander Plaats told supporters that he had narrowed the field down to four contenders. “Congresswoman Bachmann, Speaker Gingrich, Governor Perry, and Senator Santorum all have many presidential traits that will serve our great country well,” he said.
The organization has not placed any timeline on their decision.
If these people have presidential strengths they are are disguising them so well they are invisible. This is too funny for words.
Goodness, gracious; Americans don’t like Obama! LOL Love this pics, Chips.
The very old and the very young. Nobody likes him! Look how sad he looks.
Thanks, Chips, for the wonderful goodies on a rainy day.
Republican Acknowledges GOP Pushed Ryan Plan In Super Committee Negotiations
Brian Beutler November 22, 2011, 12:34 PM
If you’re having a hard time buying that one party was more reasonable than another in the Super Committee negotiations, read Republican co-chair Jeb Hensarling’s obituary for the panel in the Wall Street Journal. Specifically, check out this part about the GOP’s big ask:
Democrats on the committee made it clear that the new spending called for in the president’s health law was off the table. Still, committee Republicans offered to negotiate a plan on the other two health-care entitlements—Medicare and Medicaid—based upon the reforms included in the budget the House passed earlier this year….
Republicans on the committee also offered to negotiate a plan based on the bipartisan “Protect Medicare Act” authored by Alice Rivlin, one of President Bill Clinton’s budget directors, and Pete Domenici, a former Republican senator from New Mexico. Rivlin-Domenici offered financial support to seniors to purchase quality, affordable health coverage in Medicare-approved plans. These seniors would be able to choose from a list of Medicare-guaranteed coverage options, similar to the House budget’s approach—except that Rivlin-Domenici would continue to include a traditional Medicare fee-for-service plan among the options.
He and others have alluded to this before, but never so bluntly. It explains why Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued such a blistering statement after the Committee’s demise. “Republicans relentlessly sought to end Medicare as we know it by privatizing the program and putting seniors and future generations at the mercy of insurance companies,” he said.
Gingrich from his alternate universe called the Congressional Budget Office a “reactionary Socialist institution.”
These are better/worse than Bushisms!
THE SNARLING PIT BULL THAT IS NEWT GINGRICH
Gingrich “The Historian” Evades His Oen Past
Every dog has its day. With Rick Perry and now Herman Cain felled by brain freezes, and Mitt Romney unable to close the deal, snarling Newt Gingrich has surged into a statistical dead heat in recent polls.
He has little money and less charm. He’s set new indoor records in hypocrisy. He’s now connected to Freddie Mac, long seen by Republicans as Freddy Krueger. But in this field, don’t count him out.
Romney and Gingrich are emerging as the front-runners because they’re brighter than their rivals and they prove it repeatedly in the only arena that counts — the televised debates. We can look forward to at least 14 more episodes of the hit show “Real Candidates” scheduled between now and March, which means that the characters, who love the exposure, have no incentive to drop out.
I mean, really, to see that older gentleman in NH hug the President like that – in the photo. Just wonderful.
There was another video like the one Chips posted, not sure if this one has been posted here.. but its Think Progress version: ‘Mitt Romney In His Own Words’ video” – http://youtu.be/sjJorv8HBU4
How easy it is to go ‘tit for tat’ without the President having to lift a finger lol
Buckle up….Tony Rezko was sentenced to 10.5 years today………Pox Spews will drag PBO into this….3…2….1
Hi everyone, new post here:
South Korea’s parliament has ratified a free-trade deal with the US, after years of wrangling over the issue.
Members of the ruling Grand National Party, which has a majority, convened to force the bill through in a 151-7 vote.
Most of the opposition abstained. One politician set off a tear-gas canister before the vote and others jeered as the bill passed.
The US Congress ratified the deal last month and it has now been made law.
It is America’s largest free-trade deal since the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico in 1994.
The bill – first agreed in 2007 – was ratified in a snap parliamentary session.
“We have decided to push the free trade deal through parliament by voting, as it is almost impossible to reach a compromise with the opposition,” GNP politician Park Jun-sun told local media.
It is expected to increase US exports to the Asian economy by as much as $10bn (£6.5bn). There was almost $90bn in trade between the US and South Korea last year.
But South Korean farmers and some workers oppose the deal, saying it threatens their livelihoods and favours US workers.
Favors US workers! Wow!
AP: Pakistani Taliban has ordered a nationwide cease-fire
The Pakistani Taliban has ordered a nationwide cease-fire in an attempt to broker a peace deal with the government, a senior commander of the militant group anonymously told the Associated Press late Monday. The commander, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not the official spokesperson for the Islamist group, said the cease-fire has been in effect since the start of November.
The Pakistani army denied involvement with the alleged peace-talks on Tuesday. Government officials have not made a public statement on the report. The Pakistani Taliban is an umbrella group of Islamist militants and political groups that have worked with Al Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban. The nature of the reported talks remain unclear, as the AP reported: “Both the army and the militants have engaged in misinformation before. Some reports have said any deal would only cover one region in the northwest, South Waziristan, but could be extended.”

AIDS-related deaths at lowest level since 2005
AIDS-related deaths are down 21 percent from their peak in 2005, according to a report released today by UNAIDS, the joint United Nations program on HIV and AIDS. That’s the lowest level since 2005, the BBC reported. The number of new HIV infections is also down 21 percent from its peak in 1997. “We have seen a massive scale up in access to HIV treatment which has had a dramatic effect on the lives of people everywhere,” UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe told BBC News. About half of people eligible for treatment with antiretroviral drugs, or ARVs, globally are now receiving them, BBC News reported.
Officials from the humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders warned that the financial crisis threatens such progress and called for increased funding to combat AIDS and HIV to sustain the momentum, USA Today reported. Donor funding for AIDS prevention decreased from $7.6 billion in 2009 to $6.9 billion in 2010, Doctors Without Borders reported, according to the LA Times. “Just at the moment when we know how to manage HIV, we’re hitting the brakes,” Sharonann Lynch, an HIV policy adviser at Doctors Without Borders, told USA Today. “Without more investment, we’ll be squandering the best chance we have of getting ahead of the new wave of infections.”

I don’t like police brutality either, Lord knows we have enough it where I live. Just what the hell Obama has to do with police brutality in the hood, at OWS, or elsewhere mystifies the hell out of me.
The way President Obama handled those protesters was incredible to me. He was respectful, polite, considerate, as a president should be. Had that been Bush, we all know they would be escorted out immediately.
I just wanted to add my two cents about Occupy Wall Street: What the movement is fighting for (more accountability on Wall Street, tougher regulations, an end to corporate dominance in Washington, etc.) is admirable and I am extremely supportive of those goals. The vast majority of the OWS movement is filled with decent, hard working people from all ways of life that see the problems this country has and want to change it. It’s people like this, at the president’s speech, that threaten to undermine the movement.
President Obama is the foremost advocate in Washington, or at least the most visible, for the middle and lower class. He has been fighting tooth and nail for provisions that an help the 99% and he has been remarkably successful considering the borderline treasonous behavior of the Republican Party. And yet, this is how this small group of protesters treat him? If they sit out, and Obama loses and we get Romney or Gingrich in the White House, they have no one to blame but themselves.
These are the same folks on the left who constatnly whine and moan about the president. They are very loud and because of that their voices are heard in the media. They are supposedly representative of the entire political left. This is simply not true. In my experience, and looking at poll after poll, the VAST majority of the left supports the president, and for good reason. If these “loons” as BillO the Clown might say hijack the movement, then all the potential infuence OWS could have on this election could vanish in the blink of an eye. They’d be seen as too out of touch.
I am still upset about the mic check crap that happened today. President Obama handled it with grace and class, but I can’t help but feel really sad about it. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning..
Knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. Loved how cool the Prez played it and the support he got from the crowd. It just shows that these fools haven’t got a clue, totally lost their way in their ’cause’ and don’t know who is on their side.
That first pic just tugs the heartstrings.
