Liz Sly is the Washington Post’s Baghdad Bureau Chief
Hi Tally. (((((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))))))) HZ
My twin sons served multiple tours over the course of 5 years in Iraq. These was the most intense time of my life. When I look back on those long years of worry I sometimes don’t know how hubby and I got through them but we did and now that awful war is coming to an end. I thank President Obama for keeping his word and bringing that war to an end. I pray for the soldiers and their families as they return home.
Donna, so glad that your boy’s returned safe and sound. Think we can check the block for another promise kept. Thank you, President Obama!
Indeed! Glad their ok!
I can only begin to imagine how stressful that seperation must have been. Thank God they have returned safely, please know I am deeply grateful for their service, as well as the sacrifices you as a family endured.
So glad this war is being brought to a close.
Donna– I can only imagine how difficult that must have been–with many sleepless nights. A good friend’s son was in Iraq and she could barely keep it together through his year of service. To go through multiple tours must have required tremendous reserves of strength. You must be very proud of your sons.
WOW. THANK YOU for your family’s service and sacrifice! Most of us (INCLUDING ME) have no clue. NO CLUE.
Donna, that had to be very difficult and stressful as parents. I am so grateful that your sons are back home and safe. May I thank you and your hubby for your sacrifice as parents. Then may I thank you and your sons for their service, sacrifices that demanded so much courage, strength, and clear focus on a task that had to be very stressful and difficult at times. Just being away and fighting in a war, no matter what position you are serving in, it is STILL ALL VERY IMPORTANT to all of us.
So thank you as parents who made the sacrifice, and please thank you sons for me. I am totally grateful. Thank you, Donna. Love you so much.HZ
Please thank them and thank you and your husband for all you endured.
My heart is with you and all the others that had loved ones that served in Iraq…including my nephew. A couple times. This useless, senseless war is finally coming to an end. Thank you, President Obama!
oh Donna, I’m so happy for you and your family and all military families who have soldiers coming home
Wow! Wow! (twin wows) Thank you and your sons for your amazing service to our Country. I’m so glad they survived. What a blessing.
Please thank them for their service, donna dem 4 obama! So glad they made it home safe.
Donna, as a old and uncle to one had time in theater I REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.Because my brother and me being vets know the horrors of war.So we spent a lot of long nights worrying like you and hubby did.Tell your sons thanks for their service and so glad they are home safe. And Thank GOD we HAVE A PRESIDENT WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT OUR TROOPS.4 MORE FOR 44
Donna – I know you must be feeling an even more special bond with President Obama for keeping that promise – on behalf of your family and all of the military families. God bless you and yours. Let’s pray for peace – beyond Iraq.
Glad your sons are OK Donna. All I can say is you are one hell of an admirable person. This will truly be a blessed Christmas.
Donna, Thank you and your incredible sons for their service. I may not be American but I am so grateful for their service both for the USA and the world.I can not imagine the worry of having your precious children in harm’s way. As someone who lost a dear friend in the 1991 Iraq war I pray every night for the troops and their families and am eternally grateful when I hear that members of the armed forces arrive safely home after their tours of duty. My heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones in this (and other) wars.
Thank you President Obama for bringing the Iraq war to a responsible end. God bless all our wonderful military families.
Donna, I give you and your a heartfelt thanks for the service your family has given to this country.
I can’t even imagine how difficult it was for you and your husband during those five years. That worry leaves such a huge hole in your life when you reflect on that time. Thank God they came home safe and thank God for President Obama. I wish people would just think about what the Bush Administration put us all through and realize that we cannot go back to those horrible short-sighted policies.
donna thank you for the tremendous service and sacrifice that your family has given and endured over the years. Glad your sons are back home safe and sound!
Good evening! Some news you can use — Pennsylvania Dems have started holding info sessions for those interested in being a 2012 convention delegate; link — http://www.padems.com/2012-delegate-selection . I’m sure each state is probably doing something similiar. If you are interested in being a delegate, you should check with your state’s Dem party.
Welcome home brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers and friends.
Donna, so glad the twins returned safe and sound. We live across the street from twin boys who are now 10, they keep their Mom really busy.
My military story for the day
Equipment leaving Iraq saves tax $$$
Another promise kept. Thank you President Obama.
Thank you, President Obama for bringing our men and women home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thanks to all of the families represented here who had family members over there sacrificing for all of us. I Thank You.HZ
Reposting from late in other thread because I think it’s unbelievable. Crazy goofball Gov. Rick Scott said he will not allow Florida to implement the Affordable Care Act because “it is not the law of the land.” Except that it is. Law prof said this puts him at odds with the U.S. Constitution and he is violating his oath of office.
And the segment on 60 Minutes about homelessness was in FL. One-third of our homeless population nationwide is in FL!!!!! At least, that’s what the report said. You FL folks, is that true?
What do you expect. This is a guy who defrauded the government for medical abd never went jail and now is governor? He does not understand civics period.
Some one or some group of people will have to sue him and they will win. He got confused at the last election. He thought he was elected dictator, not governor.
As a Floridian, I can tell you without a shadow of doubt he is hands down the WORST governor we have ever had. I am dreadfully ashamed to say he is my governor…
Olivia, I in Pennsylvania and I know the feeling.
I feel for you two, Jackie and Olivia and all the Democracy loving people in your states.. Here’s to 180 degree better governors where you live in the not too distant future.
He sounds like the worst Governor any state has ever had.
Why isn’t the enough for us to kick this piece of —- out of office. He is killing this state just like he killed many fine hospitals in the 1990s.
♥ ♥ ♥ Good Evening Chips! Good Evening TOD Family! ♥ ♥ ♥
Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
And if those Republicans come at me with the same fear-mongering and swift-boating that they usually do, then I will take them head on. Because I believe the American people are tired of fear and tired of distractions and tired of diversions. We can make this election not about fear, but about the future. And that won’t just be a Democratic victory; that will be an American victory.
–Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Speech, November 10, 2007
Have a great night, everyone !

“Fear is a useless emotion. Don’t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility. Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn’t. Don’t ever make decisions based on fear.”

Dang! I was there and smack me silly but I hardly remember what she said because I was so thrilled to shake her hand and so fired up and ready to go to get Barack Obama elected President!
Thank you for sharing this here.
LOL. She is amazing, I can imagine I would be bowled over, too!
That Nobel Peace Prize — yeah, he wears it well. Another promise kept.
Thanks PJ for both of the beautiful quotes. You are so wonderful in sharing those to also remind us of what a great President and First Lady we have serving in this nation. Thanks again.HZ
Hi HZ! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Our economic mess in the U.S. and the political cynicism behind the debt ceiling crisis and the supercommittee has consumed most of my attention on economic matters.
So I haven’t been following the Euro crisis with as much focus, even though we are definitely threatened by it in the U.S when you consider that “American financial institutions have $767 billion worth of exposure via bonds, credit derivatives and other guarantees to private and public sector borrowers in the euro zone’s weakest economies.
And as the European Central Bank continues to hold back from printing money as its peers in America and Britain have done, investors now see a much higher likelihood of a broad market crash and a worldwide recession.”
So I’ve been playing catch up on the Euro Crisis. For anybody else in the same boat as me, here are a couple of sobering links to help get a quick, broad and unsettling overview of the Euro debt crisis (If anyone has a lucid analysis from the European press I would like to read that link):
Who Owes What to Whom graphic.
New York Times: Time Runs Short for Europe to Resolve Its Debt Crisis.
These two paragraphs below, excerpted from the NYT article above, put the crisis in stark terms for me:
“Bernard Connolly, a long and persistent critic of Europe, estimates that it would cost Germany, as the main surplus country in the euro area, about seven percent of its gross domestic product per year to transfer sufficient funds to bail out the deficit countries, including France.
That amount, he has argued, would far surpass the $400 billion World War I reparations bill forced upon Germany by the victorious western powers — the last payment of which Germany made just last year.”
Most horrible US war ever – so many lives lost for absolutely NO reason other than war games and blood money. In addition to the 4,483 American soldier deaths there are between 150,000 to 1,450,000 Iraqi civilians killed. Just mind numbing numbers and so god awful that the media doesn’t even care to report on it accurately. Sickening. Bush and Cheney and Rumsfield need to be put in the back of one of those C-130s (that’s flying empty to pick up supplies now)and let those Iraqis who survived their murderous 6 year rampage have justice served on them in Iraq.
JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq – Once again the “Black Jack” brigade has added to its successful legacy by officially transferring another base in the Diyala province to the Iraqi government.
Soldiers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Advise and Assist), 1st Cavalry Division, transitioned their fourth and largest base in the U.S. Division – North area, Contingency Operating Base Warhorse, in October 2011.
Black Jack soldiers arrived at Warhorse early May 2011, following a long lineage of units that have operated there for more than eight years.
The COB was originally called Camp Boom until late 2003 when elements of the 4th Infantry Division took control of the base and changed the name to Warhorse, according to Globalsecurity.org.
The 2nd Bde., 4th Infantry Division, helped the Iraqis establish a working government and redefined the legal system within the Diyala province. Other units such as the 1st Inf. Div., 2nd Inf. Div. and 25th Inf. Div. continued the efforts in rebuilding Iraq, leading to the final brigade’s charge.
The Black Jack mission was unique and vast as it advised, assisted, trained and equipped the Iraqi Security Forces while enhancing the provincial leaderships’ capacity and ability to govern, said Col. John Peeler, commander 2nd BCT.
I am hoping that there are many parades across the country welcoming all the soldiers home from Iraq. We should have a day of celebration and remembrance.
Some more video of the Obamas at the basketball game yesterday:
I just noticed that the Secret Service is all around the First Family.
Gas prices are down 6 cents across the country, record breaking sales Black Friday, according to CBS. As Hopefruit says. that’s all PBO fault.
LOL, and we won’t hear a peep out of GOP about this. They will probably try to take credit for this one, just like they tried to do with bin Laden, etc.
Thank goodness we are ending the war that never should have been. I am so proud of our brave men and women who continue to serve this nation. Let us not again send them in to a war based on false fear mongering.
President Barack Hussein Obama. He brings dignity, meaning and sincerity back to the office he holds. We shall all be sure to give him the time he needs next term, to finish what he has begun, on our behalf. Thank you, Mr. President. Bless you!
Hello fellow TOD-ers! Quick question: I donate to the President’s campaign regularly and will continue like all of us. But one of my concerns is I’m seeing and hearing more and more of the Karl Rove LYING GARBAGE and similar cr*p from other groups. (And I don’t even listen or watch that much!) But I NEVER-EVER see or hear ANY OPPOSING facts and ads on TV or radio to set the record straight about the President his wonderful record of accomplishment and his administration. Did I mention NEVER? It DOES bother me about where my money might be going. Does anyone know if I’m just misunderstanding the strategy? You know, maybe we’re just waiting and delaying and saving the funding for later to try and keep the general public from getting too turned-off early and waiting until it’s the right time? OR…maybe my market here in Albuquerque, NM isn’t a targeted market? Any ideas? I’m worried that all this LYING BS unopposed will get stuck in the consciousness of too many independent voters that don’t really pay attention. I’M SICK IN ALBUQERQUE of seeing and hearing the ignorant BS and NO fight back!!!!
That’s because they are gearing up for when PBO officially enter the fray. Right now, Democratic superpacs are supposed to be combating Rove and his azzhats. The money we contribute to OFA is for Romney.
Here’s the link to Priorites USA Action, one of the first SuperPAC’s that will be doing commercials to counter propaganda. You may want to contact them.
I don’t know much, but it could be that the campaign has not begun yet. I don’t think it will be feasible for PBO to answer every ad before he starts campaigning and using funds to answer every ad by Karl Rove.
I could be wrong, but my two cents. PBO will need all his money to fight back at his opponent.
All those ads by Rove and co. cost a lot of money, so it’s actually a good idea to let them waste all kinds of money now, when people aren’t even focused on the election. What Rove does not have is a ground game and that is probably where most of our contributions are going right now. Building the state by state infrastructure that will deliver the message directly to people. There will be lots of presidential ads and they will come at just the right time.
Makes sense. THANKS!!!! (Still ffkknn HATE IT!)
Dave, when ever you see one of these ads, contact your local station or newspaper and complain. Correct the lies and tell them exactly how you feel. This is one way to fight back right where you live.
Also, I agree with what others have told you. Right now most people are focused on the holidays not on elections or politics. I volunteer with OFA, Please don’t worry. Your donations will be and are being put to good and positive use.
Jackie’s correct, Dave. The money is going to open offices and pay staff in all 50 States. Having a ground game in place this early in the process is a HUGE advantage. It has got to be disheartening to watch those ads, but rest assured, the average person is NOT paying close attention to that stuff. At some point it becomes counter-productive. Given a choice between ground game and air game, ground game wins every time.
It has to be frustrating to Rove and Co. that no matter how many ads they buy they just can’t hold the President’s approval rating down for very long. They succeeded in getting it down to 38% over the summer, but it bobbed right back up AGAIN last month. No matter how hard they try, they can’t change the fact that people like the President, and not just Democrats.
So fire up that remote and mute the ads or just turn off the television entirely, radio, too. Preserve your sanity.
HI, Dave! So glad you asked that question You need to sign up for our very own TOD State Task Force…I see from WiW’s website that WE HAVE NO SIGN UPS FOR NEW MEXICO! http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/10/tod-participants-found-in-states.html
As someone that is knowledgeable about the goings on, we have made it our mission to get busy on a state level to set the record straight about the accomplishments of PBO, counter the lies and smears, and just generally inform those that don’t know the FACTS, because of media doesn’t report them. It is up to us. SO it is my hope that you will engage on a local and state level in this regard. If you’re on a local TV news site, newspaper site, local blogs, state blogs…you can also write letters to the editor…all these things are helpful in addressing the need to get the truth out. Many are ignorant, and just watch the news, read the lies they hear…that is how opinion is formed….often times, the WRONG opinion is formed because people don’t know the truth. MSM is not reporting, and there is no pushback or follow up with their questions….
We can effect this on a smaller, local scale. One reader at a time. Are you in? We could really use your help and you what you can do on this smaller scale will go a long way in the reelection of this great man.The impact would be larger on a state/local level…..
If there is a subject that you want to ask about before you pushback and correct someone on….there are TONS of smart folks here that can help…with all the backup proof that you can cite in your rebuttal. We need you, and we’d love to have you join us….what do you say?
Dave, it might help if you would take Desertflower’s complete comments, if you are concerned for your state. We here are very involved with working together to help in ways that will help each person in their local communities doing what is effective for that community throughout the process of this re-election.
It seems from your concerns that you have not been able to ascertain how your donations are used. Then I would suggest that you contact the headquarters in Chicago and speak with Jim Messina or someone in his office(I just did about something else) and he was very generous with answering my questions. Do not allow these negative ads hinder you from getting the proper information from the OFA office in your state, or like I said contact the main office from the main headquarters, if you so desire.
Another thing, make sure that you write down the station, the contents and context of the ad, time of day that the ad comes on, and the duration of thse types of ads(once a day, once per week, etc.) They like that information. Also be very specific about the contents of the adi and the dates that you see these negative ad in New Mexico.
And lastly, I concur with the post above, we can all have a positive effect on a local level which is done in a small group by siging up on the
site that is provided by What Is Working. Ck. the site listed in the comment just above mine. This is a great way to get a very helpful and informative tool in your case. Join in with us and start within your state and that way ,you can push back on what you are hearing and seeing in these ads that are running in your state of New Mexico.
Everyone helping out will make sure that all of our donations, time, and many hours of work will be very effective for all of us.
Now, are you in? We would love to hear you say, in the affirmative. Get started with this now in your state by siging up and encouraging others in your state to sign up also on the site as listed above, Dave. Take care and keep your eyes open and ears open, and let us know how your new sign up is working. Take care, Dave.
Thanks for the encouragement. I’ll put some hours in during the general and keep spreading the facts where I can. With my 55 hr. a week job and raising a 10 year-old, I can’t go full time. Unfortunately I only have limited time to read some of these great posts and make the occasional comment. I didn’t mean to rile anyone by mentioning my frustrations about what I hear and NEVER hear when I do watch a little TV.
You may not be in the right market to see those ads. I don’t see any here in New York but I have read the Dems and Priorities USA putting out TV and radio ads PLUS the Obama administration does have some of their allies on the Sunday shows sometimes. The campaign will ramp up once its down to 1 or 2 GOP candidates but be comforted that these lies aren’t taking hold because Pres.Obama’s numbers and popularity and odds of winning keep going up the more the GOP candidates talk.
“OT: Syracuse University announced this evening it has fired assistant mens basketball coach Bernie Fine, who has been accused of sexually molesting boys.
“At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine’s employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately,” university spokesman Kevin Quinn announced.
The firing comes the same day that ESPN released tapes of one of the men who has accused Fine of abuse discussing what happened with the assistant coach’s wife.”
With this action, Syracuse has sent a strong clear example to other organizations facing similar circumstances.
Namely that we will support our accused employee and smear the accusers and impugn their motivations and threaten to sue unless the victim had the presence of mind to tape the conversation with the wife of the accused admitting to the allegations, and a major news outlet prints the transcription of the conversation, at which time we will take the accusations seriously and swiftly fire the accused six years after the initial accusation.
NOTHING has changed since Penn State.
I think you summed that up accurately, FiredUp. These people – and their institutions – are despicable. If we were talking about some money scam, that would be different. But these were YOUNG CHILDREN who were abused. Even if it hasn’t been proven in a court of law yet, the children – not the denials – should be our first priority as a country and as individuals.
Michele Bachman’s video attacking other Republicans, I love it.
Thanks for this WIW. As long as they continue to attack each other so well, this allows the DNC to save money.
Oh, Michele, you have done the impossible. You actually make these loonies look sane, or at least saner than you. By the way, I don’t know the date of the first Romney ‘pro choice’ clip, but this position is exactly the opposite of the Mormon churches’s and you can bet he was lying through his teeth and trying to keep a straight face.
These Repugnants will all be hung by their own tongues!
I would like to hang this one by his tongue.
Kyl doesn’t care about anything except the cushy well paid job he’s got lined for when he quits the Senate. We need to focus on who will replace him and it won’t be Flake if I have anything to say or do about that. Also, my sweet DesertFlower, we have got to put some focus on getting rid of the Baby Quayle. Can you believe he has his Mommy fronting for him now? This little pissant needs to be so GONE!
I know! Poor little baby has to have Mommy help him! Little pissant is right!
Imagine that – a politician keeping his promise.
God bless our President!
Lol! Buddy Romer says his first choice for VP is Lieberman!
Ha, there goes his OWS Third Party chances…
And, wasn’t it said that Romer was more sane than the rest of gops? Forget about that.
You can only keep up an act for so long.
Ha! Ha! Ha! Good one Cha.
I can’t watch the stupid. I can’t. This is MY town. This is where I live. Last week, some kids found a gun and one kid got shot in the face with it. THIS IS NOT OK!
There is a mentality that these people have about guns that I will never understand! This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen.
That is ridiculous. Stupidity. Not quite the same, but the partner who my daughter works with at her Chgo. co. took his 15 yr. old son hunting last weekend, another hunter thought they were deer and shot them both, leaving the dad, father of 4, dead, the son injured. I keep thinking how much smarter it would have been if he had taken his son to a football game instead. I hate anything having to do with guns. It’s out of control in this country, back to the wild west in many areas.
How sad. And useless. It’s gotten to the point, that in AZ…I assume that everyone i meet has a gun on them…and guess what? I don’t feel safer!
Well that settles it then. Some other family could pose for Santa pics with a suicide bomb vest and IEDs in the Town square. How about that? What could possibly go wrong? And dare the good folks of Scottsdale call the FBI to report “terrorists”? What is good for the goose…
(Reuters) – U.S. retails racked up a record $52.4 billion in sales over Thanksgiving weekend, a 16.4 percent jump from a year earlier, as early hours and attractive promotions brought out more shoppers, an industry trade group said on Sunday.
Among the early winners after the traditional start of the holiday shopping season was Best Buy Co Inc, a reversal from 2010 when the electronics retailer’s erroneous bet on 3D televisions led to a disappointing season.
Best Buy drew in shoppers by being one of the companies that opened its stores at midnight Thanksgiving night, and unlike in 2010, it focused more on having lower prices for big TVs and other popular items.
Any $2 HDTVs from Best Buy?
Imo this shows that many Americans are living above their means.
Mr. Kyl…..JERK (OFF) OF THE CENTURY!
This is so beautiful. Don’t we all remember how awful it was when this creep Bush & his cohorts invaded Iraq, we all knew it was a lie.. Thank heaven for Barack Obama, and finally the end of this horrible war. It should be covered non-stop by the media… but after having pushed it and waved it like the almighty flag.. they now just ignore it’s ending.. and the President who ended it. Shameful.
We are fortunate that our two Marines came home earlier this year but they are thrilled that the rest of our troops are now returning. Safe journey home to our service men and women, be blessed.
Thank you Aquagranny911 for making that sacrifice for all of us. Thank your two brave and courageous two Marines for us. I am elated that they are home and safe as well.
Please thank them for me. I am so grateful to them. Yes, may the troops that are returning now have a safe and blessed journey home to us. We are so grateful for all of their service to this country. God’s blessings be upon President Obama and Vice President Biden.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. My family is blessed to have my sons home, safe and sound.
donna dem 4 obama, my husband is a Vietnam Vet for Obama and some of us know how…
I watched a progam called “Our America” a few weeks ago about Veterns, and their families. It opened up my eyes to what many veterns and families from past wars and from Iraq and Afghanistan wars are still dealing with.
Donna dem and Aquagranny, I want to join in to thank your warriors for having made it home safely and that I can trust our President not to jump into anything without cohesion with other nations. Give them all a hug from me, a wife who had two babies and a husband in Vietnam on the DMZ. He made it home safely but it took him away with Agent Orange. I lost him young. I thank FLOTUS and Dr. Biden for their service. We are so fortunate to have President Obama as our role model and leader. God Bless, I just couldn’t give up my sons for a war and salute you for keeping strong for your boys.
Barb, I’m so sorry. I hope your babies are thriving grownups these days. Vietnam was a nightmare for this country. So much of our thoughts were consumed by that war and so many fears for our families overwhelmed us. We can never again engage in stupid wars whose purpose nobody can adequately explain without outright lies. Every single R candidate would gleefully lead us into another war without a second thought. This must not happen!!!
Donna, we are all blessed to have brave young people like your sons serving our country and grateful that they’ve returned home safely. Thank God for President Obama, who has worked tirelessly to bring our loved ones home to their families for the holidays. I pray we can keep in office so that he can finish the work of ending the “war without end” in Afghanistan before long.
The U.S. Week Ahead: 120,000 jobs expected in November (2:21)
Nov. 25 – Reuters Correspondent Jason Lange says Friday’s Jobs Report is set to show the recovery is gathering steam but dangers still lurk around the corner.
By Alicia M. Cohn – 11/27/11 11:23 AM ET
Former Bush administration Secretary of State Colin Powell on Sunday dismissed chances for a Tea Party candidate to win the presidential election, criticizing the hard-line stance taken by the majority of the grassroots movement and advocated by their favored political candidates.
“The Tea Party point of view of ‘no compromise whatsoever’ is not a point of view that will eventually produce a presidential candidate who will win,” he said on ABC’s “This Week With Christiane Amanpour.”
Powell said taking the no-compromise position isn’t helping get things done in Washington, and called on members of Congress to “come back to the center to compromise” in order to see progress.
I see Michelle Obama will be attending the funeral of Maggie Daley tomorrow morning in Chicago. There were long lines today for the wake of the admired former first lady of Chicago, most well known for her promotion of After School Matters, an educational and career program for city kids.
Oh, I’m so glad FLOTUS is attending. That will surely mean a great deal to the Daley family. (The Obamas always do everything the way it should be done.)
Guy tweeks his GPS to sound like President Obama
Wow, the guy is truly creative. I see this DIY voiced GPS system coming to a store near you. Really cool!
Cyber Monday has officially begun and nearly 123 million Americans plan to take advantage of the many online promotions that retailers will have available for the next 24 hours, according to a survey by Shop.org, an association of multi-channel retailers. Last year, the day, held the Monday after Black Friday, attracted 106.9 online shoppers.
Mitt v Mitt: The story of two men trapped in one body. . .
Tyler Perry’s open letter to Penn State 11 year old. . .
A handy dandy little chart!
Now Mitt Romney wants the money ($600 Billion) that was scheduled to be taken from the defense budget to be instead taken from other programs. Nice try Willard!
Unfortunately, it looks like he has Carl levin is helping him! Imagine that?
I don’t care who is helping Romney, the President is not for it. The Republicans had a chance to prevent these cuts but they refuse to raise any taxes, so deal with it Romney, and Carl Levin.
Can’t understand why these politicians don’t look beyond their noses. When you look at it, there will not be any cuts. The money we are saving from the Iraq war are the cuts! What a BRILLIANT PRESIDENT!
hopefruit2, who cares what Mitt “the flip flopper liar” Romney wants.
Easy Monday: Defense spending, judicial vote in the Senate
By Pete Kasperowicz
The Senate meets at 1 p.m. Monday to continue debate on S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act. So far there is no clear way forward on how to proceed on the bill, which now has 270 amendments pending.
By 5 p.m., the Senate is expected to take up the nomination of Chris Droney of Connecticut to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit.
The House is not in Monday , and returns at 2 p.m. Tuesday to consider suspension bills.
More signs that the GOP is still NOT satisfied with the current field of candidates. They are trying to run ads for Sarah Palin to get into the race! And the comments to the article are even more desperate – here’s an example:
// Obama already knows that he can easily beat any of the present GOP candidates. It was Palin that he was afraid of. I think that she can get the GOP nomination and beat him but it will take a great deal of campaigning. I’ll give any much money as I can to her campaign. I want her in the WH! //
Go read ej Dionne piece on the Washington post- rise up against the right.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! He was afraid of Sarah????!!!!! That’s news to me! He would wipe the floor with her. The mere THOUGHT that this person thinks that Palin has a chance to beat PBO, shows how utterly delusional they really are. Bring It!
This is a group of diehard Palin supporters who are throwing in all their resources in a desperate last effort to get her to run. If you read any posts by them, they are truly delusional people who consider Looney Sarah as their Queen Esther savior. But Palin is a spent force and the poor saps will end up losing throwing away their money for no purpose.
Who will be next? Are they going to go dig up Ronald Reagen and beg him to run.
Hey anniebella, don’t put the idea in their heads!
A plethora of news tidbits worth reading…
Sure, Hopefruit, because in Mitten’s world, nobody ever has to stand by what they committed to or voted for unless it’s politically expedient. All facts are optional and all morality is flexible. If it were a deal he liked, he’d put on his faux serious face and tell people they had a ‘sacred’ trust to adhere to the bill they voted on. There is not one truly genuine thing about him, except unbridled ambition.
Aquagranny and Desertflower will appreciate this article by Steve Benen. It may have been posted already. I am so very glad Jon Kyl is not running for re-election next year and we have a strong Democrat, Don Bivens, running for the seat.

Mr. “I think it’s fine to drill on a million acres of the Grand Canyon for uranium”…seriously? would love for you to pass along info you see for Bivens and Carmona….:)
