That’s good news!
Burma’s President Thein Sein has signed a law that will allow citizens of Burma, also known as Myanmar, to request permission to stage peaceful protests for the first time, BBC News reported. All protests were previously banned in Burma. This is the latest reform measure taken by Burma’s first civilian-elected government since the military junta handed over power earlier this year. According to the law, anyone planning a protest must request approval five days before the protest from the police, who can deny permission but must offer a reason for doing so, the Associated Press reported.
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton toured Burma earlier in the week. “It is a powerful endorsement for the government of Myanmar,” said Jim Della-Giacoma, the International Crisis Group’s Southeast Asia Project Director said to GlobalPost about Clinton’s visit. “It provides them with an opportunity to forge a new strategic relationship with the US,” he said. “But to really make this work, they’ll need to give up something in return.”
h/t Mariya Karimjee
I walked across the border into Burma a few years ago and found it fascinating. It was not westernized at all, very few cars and absolutely no advertising signs. The reason I mention this is that the heroine of the country Aung San Suu Kyi, is one of the most fascinating people in the world, and few know of her. She won the Nobel Peace prize in 1991, and having been under house arrest for 15 of the last 21 years she was unable to attend the award ceremony. President Obama called her from Air Force One recently, and the first thing she asked him was how was Bo. The highlight of Hillary’s trip to Burma this week was having dinner with her. She has a degree from Oxford and a Ph.D from the University of London. And at the age of 66 she is beautiful. Anyone interested in the life of a woman who has given her life for the freedom of her country should spend a few minutes on “the Google” under her name.
I hope she becomes the first president of Burma.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! That tweet is freaking funny and spot on.
I can’t leave the Newt “poor kids scrubbing toilets” thing alone. It speaks to the entire way of seperating the have’s from the have not’s. I remember Bush speaking at some toney dinner–”It’s great to be here among the haves and the have mores. You are my people”. My daughter has a mental disorder and lives on disability, food stamps etc. So, in Newt’s world my grandson should be cleaning up after the more well to do kids!!!!! I can honestly say I hate the man. My hair is on fire! I make sure my grandson and daughter have the things they need, but without my help their lives would be pretty narrow. The whole “welfare queen” of the Reagen administration is such a joke. Now Newt is saying food stamps can be used to get you to Hawaii. I would like to see him and his plastic wife live on food stamps for a month.
Besides all of that, it’s clear Mitt knows nothing about business or institutional cleaning. My cleaning days are well behind me, but I remember we had to use stuff that was simply too powerful, powerwise or chemicalwise, to use in a private home. They had to be that way to clean up after god knows who many with diseases no one knew they had. Why would Newt want to expose children to such danger.
Food stamps get you to Hawaii? I have been on food stamps several times, both the book and card. and I’ve never known anyone who got -or had ever gotten enough to get you out of town, let alone Hawaii!
Or bus fare or gas to find a job. Newt is worse than slime.
This is why I love that President Obama will be speaking about the “haves and have nots” this coming Tuesday, and reminding the Republican Party what they used to believe, and what the values of this country should be. The GOP has dragged this country into the gutter, and they now revere ignorance, hatred, racism and greed. They’re about to get a lesson from President Obama.
I know. What has my hair on fire also is Newt’s statement about poor kids not seeing anybody working except those engaged in illegal activities. I’m sure this was a dog whistle to the racists, but there ARE poor white kids who live in cities and RURAL areas. The fact is on any day during the week go to a bus stop or subway station at 6:00am and see all the “poor” people who live in the “poor” communities going to work. They are known as the “working poor”. I detest this man. In fact, I detest Republicans.
auni. Sorry to butt in but I totally agree with you in your condemnation of that pond life Newt! Having a husband with a mental disability and learning disability among other health issues I can understand your position totally. Your daughter and grand children sound like wonderful people and they are blessed to have such a kind and selfless person like you in their lives.I know what a struggle it is for us to manage on disability pay and I want to say thank you to you for all you do for them, you are a hero.
Brazil gets tough on foreign companies
BMW, creator of German luxury cars, said this year that it would consider opening its first South American factory in their country. The announcement was yet another sign of confidence in Brazil, an up-and-coming emerging market that has seen rapid growth. Brazil has become a top investment destination as businesses seek burgeoning markets amid the crises in the US and European nations. In turn, Brazil has worked to lure investors with the promise of a business-friendly environment and the opportunity for robust growth.
So BMW wanted to set up shop in South America’s largest country, with its booming business centre and potential for big sales. And then Brazil hit back. The Brazilian government raised its tax on industrialized products by 30 percentage points for companies that produce less than 65 percent of their goods in the region. It was a bold move by a developing nation. Traditionally, nations hungry for investment have been willing to offer huge concessions to lure foreign companies. But Brazil, an influential member of the powerful BRIC nations, has turned that model on its head.
President Dilma Rousseff, who rarely plays by the rules, said publicly that she raised the tax to keep foreign companies in check. “All the companies that are complaining don’t produce anything here in Brazil,” Rousseff said in a recent television interview. “What we want is for foreign companies to come to Brazil. So in order not to pay higher taxes, they have to produce here, they have to create jobs for Brazilians.”

Maureen Dowd completely neuters Newt.
NEWT GINGRICH’S mind is in love with itself.
It has persuaded itself that it is brilliant when it is merely promiscuous. This is not a serious mind. Gingrich is not, to put it mildly, a systematic thinker.
His mind is a jumble, an amateurish mess lacking impulse control. He plays air guitar with ideas, producing air ideas. He ejaculates concepts, notions and theories that are as inconsistent as his behavior.
My favorite description of Newt to date (by Paul Krugman): “he’s what dumb people think smart people sound like” (or something to that effect).
I don’t like this woman, but she tears Gingrich to shreds here. You can almost see Morning Joke quoting her on Monday. The establishment don’t want him, so with talking points in hand look for the crew to knock the Grinch around.
Let the infighting begin.
Concur with your comment Africa. I despise and loathe Maureen Dowd. She was an original PUMA and has never been content with the idea of Barack Obama as President. The personal nature of her attacks against PBO in what she calls “journalistic articles” are despicable. I’m glad she realizes what a cretin Newt is; but she is no better herself.
Agreed Ut. She is just as despicable. I was thinking exactly the same thing when I was reading it.
THIS! not even the prospect of her tearing the Newtster a new one is enough to make me read her crap.
You and me both, lisalovesobama. No clicks for Dowd. Dislike her intensely. Anyone remember how she behaved during the trip to Ireland? I do.
In addition to her gross personality, she’s a terrible writer. UGH.
Yes, she was terrible. We had to decide whether to believe her or our lying eyes. To travel all the way to Ireland to bad mouth PBO’s visit while the country was celebrating it was stupid on its face, completely tone-deaf.
count me in. I refuse to read anything from Modo
I’m right there with you Lisa…
My enemy’s enemy is still not my friend…
There is nothing Maureen Dowd could do or say to get even an inkling of support or agreement from me…
I find her to be no less despicable than Newt Gingrich and every other low-life that swims right alongside both of them in the hate-filled, malicious, narcissistic, bitter, empty, sad swamp where they permanently dwell…
I’m with you on that, ut. Of course, Maureen took down W quite nicely, which was why I used to check her column. But I haven’t paid any attention to her whatsoever, since she started going after our President.
I’d be surprised if Dowd were a PUMA, though I may have missed something. I stopped reading her in the 90′s because all she could do was spew bile about the Clintons, especially Hillary. Bitter, angry people aren’t getting any of my energy, period. Of course, these days, that leaves out a lot of people! It’s why this site is so great. Even on the very occasional hair on fire days, most of the gang are optimistic and positive.
MIght have been more of a “for the sisterhood” thing than any actual love of HRC. She is the one who started the Obambi crap about the President and acts like he’s that guy who didn’t call back.
Problem with Mourning Joke is that the only way Huntsman gets a second look is if Newt stays ahead of Romney. They take out Newt and Romney wins Iowa and NH and the rest of the primary is his coronation.
Huntsman will have problems with Tea party primary folks. They hate PBO and will view Huntsman as a traitor. I don’t see him getting anywhere, despite Joke and other MSM.
Every once in a great while, Maureen, like a stopped clock, gets something right.

Breaking News: Arianna Huffington endorses Newt Gingrich for President……Before you faint, this is from 1995. But Jeez she’s had more flip flops than Willard Mittens Romney.
Before we faint…?
I don’t think anyone would be surprised if Arianna Huffington endorsed Newt Gingrich…
Actually the surprise would be if she did not…
Sarkozy sells out to Merkel on euro rescue
PARIS, France — In recent days, the French press has accused President Nicolas Sarkozy of selling out to the Germans. Liberation, for example, said he had morphed into “candidate Angela Sarkozy,” writing, “if you closed your ears, you could hear Merkel speak.” The taunts are unlikely to cease as Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel work on their grand plan to save the euro zone, forcing Teutonic fiscal discipline down EU throats.
In a speech on Thursday, Sarkozy parroted Merkel’s ideas, arguing that the developed world was entering a “new economic cycle” dominated by debt reduction, with tough times ahead. Those who hoped he would announce a forceful intervention by the European Central Bank — with the creation of euro-bonds or a massive purchase of bonds — were disappointed.
Worried about losing its AAA credit rating, France had until recently been pressing Germany to lift its effective veto power on the European Central Bank and buy up sovereign debt to reassure markets and bring down interest rates. Germany instead has appeared more intent on punishing profligate EU members into balancing their books. And in the tete-a-tete between Berlin and Paris, Sarkozy blinked first. The president now says he is pushing for more fiscal discipline across Europe — Germany’s central demand.

Because she deserve one?
Vermont’s Push to End Corporate Personhood
Friday 2 December 2011
Over the last decade more than a hundred cities and towns across the country have passed ordinances putting citizens’ rights ahead of corporate interests. They have banned businesses from dumping toxic sludge, building factory farms, mining, and extracting water for bottling. Some have also refused to recognize corporations as people.
On Jan. 21, 2010, however, the US Supreme Court firmly rejected that idea in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case, ruling that corporations are “persons” with First Amendment rights and cannot be prevented from spending unlimited funds on political campaigns.
David Cobb is determined to change that, and returned to Vermont this week to promote the next steps in a campaign to amend the US constitution. Last January, Cobb, a former Green Party candidate for president who leads the Move to Amend campaign, spoke about the issue in Burlington, Waitsfield and Montpelier during a tour of the state organized by the Women’s International league for Peace and Freedom. He also met with 11 state senators who agreed to support a Vermont resolution calling on Congress to initiate the process.

Green party for president you say?
I hate being productive on the weekends. That should be an absolute no, no.
Your “librul media” at work! Here comes another GOP Media Bias Sunday!
Hey kids! Tomorrow is Media Bias Sunday! Let’s take a sneak preview of what’s coming up on the Big Sunday Talker Line-Up, per the L.A. Times, okay? Okay. This is not a complete list; Paddy provides that to you tomorrow. I didn’t include panel members-slash-pundits.
Face the Nation: Reince Priebus (R); Robert Gibbs (D).
Meet the Press: David Axelrod (D); Reince Priebus (R)
This Week With Christiane Amanpour: Rick Santorum (R); Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.).
I hope Priebus gets called out for this lie.
Despite A 0.0002 Percent Rate Of Voter Fraud, Reince Priebus Claims Wisconsin Is ‘Riddled With Voter Fraud’
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus made a curious claim on MSNBC today, alleging that Wisconsin is a state “that was absolutely riddled with voter fraud.”
The problem? A recent study by the nonpartisan Brennan Center for Justice found just seven cases of voter fraud out of three million votes cast in Wisconsin during the 2004 election, a fraud rate of 0.0002 percent. All seven of these cases involved persons with felony convictions who weren’t eligible to vote after being released from prison.
This Priebus fool is a person with zero integrity. He lies as easily as he breathes. I hope he doesn’t have children.
First time I listened to him was on that very same MSNBC show. He is one nasty dude. He reeks it.
Like many of today’s republicans, he is a classic sociopath…
A very sick and deranged man unleashed on an unwitting audience…
There are many functioning crazies making the rounds these days as perfectly ‘normal’ beings…
But scratch the surface just a tad and the crazy springs out…
Please tell me you are joking.
Question for all you brilliant folks: now that Cain has “suspended” his campaign, when does his secret service protection end? I don’t want to see the guy hurt, but, how long do the taxpayers pay for his protection? When is he officially out? When Mitt or Newt win the nominatin?
That’s a very good point. Not sure if the “suspending” part changes things or not; otherwise, he shouldn’t warrant Secret Service protection if he’s not a candidate. Also don’t want him to get hurt, but let’s not make a further mockery of our prudent systems via this loser’s hands.
GOP aide goes on trial in Maryland for suppressing black voters
A former Republican governor’s aide accused of election fraud in Maryland defended himself in court on Friday against claims an automated phone message he authorized was intended to suppress black Democrat voters. Paul Schurick, 55, campaign manager for former Maryland governor Robert Ehrlich, testified that the phone calls made to more than 100,000 Democratic, mostly-black voters on election night last year were intended to inspire them to vote.
The message assured listeners that Ehrlich’s Democratic opponent — incumbent Martin O’Malley who had defeated Ehrlich’s reelection bid in 2006 — and President Barack Obama, who was not up for election, were already “successful.” “Our goals have been met,” said the message delivered in a woman’s voice starting at about 6 p.m. on November 2. “The polls are correct and we took it back. We’re OK. Relax. Everything’s fine. The only thing left is to watch it on TV tonight.”
What a dog. And looks like every dog DOES get his day.
Ready for this. . .
Newt gets a makeover now that he is front runner. http://t.co/Pxzhcm11— Gary York (@lindberg49) December 04, 2011
Unless he gets a new Newt brain….its all for naught. Can dress him up, but you can’t take him out.
Sorry about the double posts!
WHOA!! That about sums it all up.
Ouch! Ineed to go bleach my eyes now.
That’s scary. Scary enough that if seen to often could have you waking in cold sweats.
I think Chips will find a space for it in her arsenal……..We must be good TODers!!
I LITERALLY SNORTED! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *deep breath* hahahahahahahahahahahahaha…….
That image will haunt me in my dreams…
Good night guys.
Watching The Ides Of March right now. Interesting movie.
Would love to be watching the POTUS live right now though . Looking forward to the Kennedy Honors tomorrow.
Ryan Gosling AND George Clooney!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to see them…I mean, that movie, so badly….let us know:)
I saw that movie. I’d give it a B. George is always an A+, but the story was just a-ight.
Agreed. It had an interesting narrative but somehow I was expecting a bit more.
But the bottom line was “dirty politics” or maybe that’s just redundant.
IDC what anyone says, I know I”m right. Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade is the best of the franchise…period…Who could disagree?
I actually don’t care for any of the Indy movies. Never understood the fascination with them. But that’s just me.
Romney got the Iowa newspaper endorsement
Apparently they also endorsed him last time – which didn’t help.
Looks like they loooove hitching their wagon to a one-trick losing pony.
Or he has dirt on someone important there. I shouldn’t think that the buckets of ducats he spent on opposition research was limited to potential opponents. His running for the office is as single focused as The Newter’s.
herb’s ‘suspension’ of his ‘campaign’ must be the longest known secret.
I thought it was pretty twisted the way he showed up late and let a bunch of people give speeches about how much they believe in his candidacy and will fight for him to win the White House. But then they proved they were willing idiots.
I really hope he just goes away. Just a really despicable coward.
I don’t know what it is…but we all need to do something about this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seniors think these folks are HELPING, but they are HURTING THEM. Nothing “grassroots” about this…this is astroturf!
Daily Fox News poisoning.
Best comedy movie in years: The Hangover just starting on TBS. Watch it to escape from the sad political comedy that is the GOP!
The Hangover is hands down one of the funniest movies I’ve seen of all time. I cracked up in every scene. EVERY scene. I totally understand why it is the #1 comedy of all time. That was a money maker for sure. Hangover 2 was cool but Hangover 1 was wayyyyyyy better. #FunTimes.
utaustinliberal: for sure for sure. I’ve seen it at least 6 times and still crack up in every scene. OMG the writing and the acting is insane. If I had to pick a favorite scene it’s with Mike Tyson when they are singing Phil Collins song
One of the best scenes ever!!!!!
It was on twice last night on tbs. caught the second airing.
Actress Eva Longoria blasts Newt for his comment about poor children
Cool. Thanks, africa.
Okay TODers. I’ve returned from the North woods and as i promised Chips, i’d display the real deal. Behold another “Bear” in the woods. . i’m gonna remove it in 24. i don’t want anyone to get ill. (i wonder if Cain will sleep in the house tonite?)
Hey, yardarm, you are very cool! Keep it!
Gloria is apparently absolutely 100% beyond a doubt in total support of THE Herman Cain! Yes! She don’t mind a thing!
Yardarm — welcome back! Nice pic. Hope you enjoyed your trip; you were missed. Don’t know if he’ll sleep in the house tonight, but check twitter for what might have been said last night. #thingssaidinthecainhousetonight
Just unfollowed Van Jones. Couldn’t stand another huffcrap or ows retweet in my timeline.
Me too . .. tweeting Arianna. . . Don’t need to see her face! He is so fascinated with her!
I know. I think Arianna will end up being the biggest fraud unleashed on the Left ever.
That’s a rather crowded field of alleged lefties who are faking the funk, innit?
She already is…
You have a lot of patience. I unfollowed him after just a couple of weeks. He got huffy with me when I asked him very politely to explain something he said. I think he’s bitten off more than he could chew and I can see why PBO let him go when he offered to resign. He has a good heart but lately not clearly in command of the political landscape in any kind of mature way. Just my opinion.
They all seem to have thin skin when called out on their B.S.
I have had an uneasy feeling about Van Jones. I guess the correct word is “uneasy”. I don’t know. There’s something about him that I don’t like. I had this feeling before OWS. I don’t assess people based on my “feelings”, but I just don’t know about Van.
He was okay until he tied his fortunes to Huffington and then it all went down hill from there. He lost all of his independent thoughts and its really sad since he was such an forceful voice.
He’s an opportunist unfortunately and tried to get in on the financial/influence-wielding hustle which just totally blew up in his face…
What a shame too…
He could have been a voice for good for what it was really worth, but now he is persona non grata with the PL crowd who never really trusted him try as he did to earn their trust by turning on the President…
Worse still, he lost what would have been his true and natural support base – Obamacrats like us who appreciated his support of the President but now loathe him for his cheap, greedy & dishonorable flip…
My post won’t show up.
I see you.
Who are you? I don’t know Phil. Apparently, I’m a guy who marries hookers!!!!!! The Hangover TBS. #MovieQuotes
The Hangover is my JOINT! I was weeping with laughter watching it. A lot of poor imitations since then that don’t even come close to touching it. The minds that came up with that movie are totally nuts in a genius sort of way.
100% agree. When I watched it in the theaters, I thought I was going to choke on my snacks. It’s just too damned funny. The other movie that came close to being as funny for me was Chris Rock’s Death At A Funeral.
I need to check out that Chris Rock flick, then.
Naked Asian man jumps out of the trunk and is beating them with a tire iron: “You gonna fuck on me??” “Nobody is gonna fuck on you!” #Hangovermoviequotes
That whole scene was just hilarious in an “I can’t believe I’m seeing what I’m seeing” sort of way.
You know this. I’m a stripper. Well actually, I’m an escort. Stripping’s just a great way to meet the clients. #TheHangover.

First post in a loooong time…but I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet (sorry if I missed it). Something that should be sent to your congressperson:
Keep up the good work! Regards to all,
I’m watching Cyndi Lauper on Piers Morgan. I’m just surprised he hasn’t posed the question to her yet. He’s getting around to it I’m sure.
OHHHHHH HERE HE GOES!!!! Bringing up PBO!
Cyndi is not falling for it – She is DEFENDING PBO and saying that she thinks PBO is trying really hard given the enormous debt he inherited from the 8-yr GOP reign, and the Republicans are blaming the black guy after all the damage GWB did. Cyndi is going off on the Repubs.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! You got PUNKED Piers!
The only time I’ve seen Piers’ show is when Beyonce was on it. From the sounds of it, Mr. Morgan has been bitten by the Obama bug — he eats, drinks and sleeps PBO. Maybe he’s here, undercover. Ha!
He did come from the Murdoch stable.
I’m guessing Piers didn’t realize what a big supporter Cyndi is of the President. What an idiot.
His booker is going to have to answer to someone…
I will try this again.
Des Monies Register Poll
My post has gotten eating. Every time I try to post something from TPM it get eaten.
Desraye, I’ve seen all of your posts and the links. Perhaps it’s just you who can’t see them. For instance, I just read the one about Gingrich leading in a TPM piece. (And to comment on this latest one, I think the Republican field is so downright awful it doesn’t much who is “leading.)”
About not being able to see your posts — have you updated your program lately? I hate stopping and updating and was having problems and my husband sat down here and updated everything. Instantly all my problems disappeared.
… it doesn’t much MATTER who is leading. Sorry.
I’m so sorry. I put roofies in our drinks so we could have a good time. I wanted you people to like me. #TheHangover.
You are literally too stupid to insult. #TheHangover

NEWFirst Lady Michelle Obama shares the White House decor.
10:30 PM EST
Ooo, thanks for the heads up. Sounds sweet.
Thanks rikyrah for the heads up. Will tune in.
Hmmm, I’m not seeing it?
Shit. There’s a Republican forum on Faux Noise? Whaaaaat??? Haven’t we been tortured enough?
They have to drink at the fountain of Huck. These people are clueless.
You know, I think Piers Morgan needs to have some sort of “Obama” segment kinda like Tweety has “let me finish,” Ed has “PsychoTalk” and L’OD has “Last Word” segments on their respective shows.
He’s now asking Shaquille O’Neal the same question. I will tweet Piers and suggest that he reserve a segment just to ask people their feelings about Obama. I will suggest a variety of names for segment including but not limited to: “Dreams of Obama” “Musings about Obama” “Feelings for Obama” “Obsessions with Obama” “Ogling Obama” “Stalking Obama” “Haunting Obama” SHEESH.
What did Shaq say? Piers Morgan can suck it by the way…
Shaq supported PBO and his accomplishments 100%. Said he’s solidly for PBO in 2012.
Not only did he unequivocally support him, but he expressed full confidence that PBO would win in 2012. Now Piers is talking to Magic Johnson. He will ask him the magic question about PBO soon.
Hmm…good for Shaq, I know Magic was a Hillary supporter, not sure if he is on the Obama train
JUST SAY NO TO DONALD TRUMP
Well, lookie here – Ron Paul will not subject himself to the humiliation of participating in the Donald Trump debate farce. Paul says it is beneath the office of the presidency. And Jon Huntsman plans to curl up with a bowl of popcorn to watch Mitt and Newt suck up to Donald Trump. Ouch! Trump and Paul are tearing each other apart. A real cat fight has ensured. Popcorn please…..
1) Ron Paul Rejects Donald Trump-Moderated Debate
2) Huntsman Spokesman Declines ‘The Donald’s’ Debate Invitation
Maybe they realize that Trump=politcal kiss of death.
This is hilarious. I had to go and pop some popcorn when I started to read these 2 articles.
you will not believe i am having a twitter battle with Roseanne Barr. she has serious psychological issues. She says Obama is a Manchurian candidate, who parent are secret Cia agent. This is not snark the is real. Something is definitely wrong with her.
Tulips, she is not dealing with a full deck. She’s been picking fights all week with all kinds of people. She truly believes she can win 2012 election to become POTUS. In other words, she’s totally NUTS.
Yes, she got into it many days ago with some folks on Twitter with her paranoid rantings about PBO being a murderer and Wall St. Puppet, etc. Marion blogged about her bizzare Twitter exchanges.
I saw her tweets the other day when people were first talking about her – geez louise.
Interesting….I remember seeing her on one of Oprah’s last shows before it ended and she was singing PBO praises. She told Oprah that she was mad at her at first for not supporting Hillary, but that Oprah had made a good choice and agreed with her. Sometimes I wonder if some of these 2nd rate stars just evoke the Obama name just for publicity. The media will rush to any celebrity that speaks negatively of him, but of course she could be delusional and medicated as well. But I expect lots of people wanting fame to kick up the negativity during this election season.
Her lastest ramblings are seriously delusional and paranoid. It’s not really a matter of publicity-seeking. She’s ranting and saying things that are just nuts.
Yes I saw her tweets….good grief. She needs some help for sure.
I sent her a tweet the other day suggesting she might need some help. She’s delusional in a medically concerning way I’m afraid. She’s claiming she is running on the Green Tea Party ticket although with one little problem – she’s registered in 0 of the 50 states. I tried to watch this and only got thru the first few minutes of her announcing her campaign outside the White House grounds.
She well could be the ‘hail mary’ candidate for the GOP
Time for some fun …
Hey #RoseanneBarr, don’t go ‘green’ go ‘GOP’! After tonight’s farce you could be their ‘hail mary candidate’ with Palin as awesome VP choice
lol. I saw a tweet from her where she said both parties are the same: GOP owned by Koch brothers and Dem party by George Soros. I think she is seriously in love with her clever name “Green Tea Party”. She was a pretty damn funny comedian years ago.
More Roseanne lunacy….I too was enlightened by her crazy tweets to me. LOL! Her response in part…’facts are your friend’ #operationpaperclip! The nut tweeted that both Obamas parents were scientists employed by the CIA thus the Manchurian Candidate conclusion! Upon my fact-finding mission I learn that Operation Paperclip was an OSS program to recruit Nazi scientists to the US after WW2. So you see how easy it is to conclude that Obama’s parents must have been in on Operation Paper Clip! NUTS NUTS NUTS
Wow! The deep end doesn’t get any deeper than that.

I saw it!!!!. I left a comment. Well Chips did say chat away and that’s what we’re doing. We’re being rewarded for having to endure the #CainWreck of today.

That is so politically incorrect to be funny but it is sooo funny.

Stu’s father-in-law: “Remember; what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Except for Herpes. That’ll follow you.”

Following in the footsteps of George Wallace
by Dennis G.
George Corley Wallace is remembered as a symbol of American racism. Folks remember the image of him standing in the school house door to block integration and his words “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever”. Folks remember his two runs for the White House on a “Law and Order” platform that seemed to be entirely built out of racist code talking and dog whistles. Wallace worked hard to earn his status as an icon of racism.
And yet, I don’t think George Wallace was a racist. Rather, I think he was an ambitious man who decided that pandering to racists was his best path to power. In his early political life, Wallace was liberal—a progressive. He was an alternate Democratic delegate to the 1948 Convention and did not join most of the Alabama delegation as they walked out to protest the Civil Rights plank Harry Truman had added to the platform. He returned to Alabama and served on the Board of Trustees of Tuskegee Institute. He was elected a Circuit Court Judge and was remembered as being pretty damn fair regardless of race. In 1958 he ran for Governor and sought the endorsement of the NAACP while speaking out against the KKK and refusing their support. His opponent pursued the opposite strategy. Wallace lost badly and told a friend “you know why I lost that governor’s race?… I was outniggered by John Patterson. And I’ll tell you here and now, I will never be outniggered again.” In response, he tossed his values and beliefs overboard and perfect the pander to assholes as a winning political strategy.
And this brings me to Willard “Mitt” Romney. He is just as ambitious as George Wallace and like the former Alabama Governor willing to say and do anything in the pursuit of that ambition. Like Wallace, Romney has decide that pandering to racists and stoking their fears is a winning political strategy.
Now, you could argue that this is true of most of the GOP Presidential Candidates and there would be some truth to that. But many of the other candidates have built their entire political careers by shameless pandering to racists for their votes—they never had a moment where they could have been identified as a moderate let alone a progressive. For example, you could never identify a moment of his political career when Gingrich wasn’t pandering to assholes. It is all he has ever done. Newt is more like Strom Thurmond or Jessie Helms. Romney is different. He is more like Wallace.
Funny – Newt’s being compared to southerners like Thurmond and Helms. Newt was actually born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (oh, I’m sure they’re so proud). Remember when his mother was interviewed once and was asked what Newt had said about Hillary Clinton? Here’s the short reply his mother gave. Not much different than how Herb Cain seems to feel about women.
That damn cigarette got he hollering..*she’s ah bitch* LOLLLL!!!
you all are cracking me up with the Hangover lines
Gingrich, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, has support from 25 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers, up from just 7 percent in late October, the poll conducted for The Des Moines Register newspaper found.
Texas Representative Ron Paul and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney finished second and third, with support at 18 percent and 16 percent, respectively.
Look who was shilling Nasty Newt for his righteous ‘moral imperative’ to lead on the moral crisis in this country in 1995. None other than Arianna Huffington……..Make no mistake HuffinPuff is still a Republican! In light of his recent remarks about school children as indentured servants, the following promotion from Arianna is stomach turning.
Via Twitter > @michaelscherer RT @thegarance: RT @crampell blast from the past: Arianna Huffington in 1995, on “Why Newt Must Run” for president > http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Protected/Articles/000/000/007/009pomwg.asp
The first moral imperative was expressed by Gingrich in his first speech as speaker: “How can any American read about an l 1-year-old buried with his teddy bear because he killed a 14-year-old, and then another 14-year-old killed him, and not have some sense of “My God, where has this country gone?” How can we not decide that this is a moral crisis equal to segregation, equal to slavery, and how can we not insist that every day we take steps to do something?”…………
…..Precisely because Gingrich is right about the moral crisis the country is facing — millions of lives and entire communities destroyed by drugs, alcohol, gangs, and violence — there is a moral imperative for him to fill the leadership vacuum and address the growing devastation.
…..But just as the Gingrich of November 1995 is different from the one who assumed the speakership, so too the Gingrich of November 1996 could be a far different, far more inspiring public figure. Gingrich may be a lightning rod, but he also embodies the revolution like no one else. He is its most articulate, self-confident, and unapologetic voice, and he burns with conviction that America can and will be a better place because of it……..
The idea of Arianna being the judge of anything moral is a joke in itself. There is nothing that woman won’t sell for the right price. Those who actually think she has any principles whatsoever are sadly, sadly mistaken.
Good morning, TODville.
Here’s a quote from Juanita Jean that I think sums up Repubs and Herman Cain:
I wish to thank Herman Cain for reinforcing every damn stereotype the Republican Party has about black males: he jives, he’s unprepared, he’s entitled, and wants to hoochy your wife. He was the perfect idea of what white Republicans think a black man is.
I think I may have blinked. Can someone point me to what happened with Van Jones and the PL? Or give me the Reader’s Digest version? I didn’t realize he was no longer in their good graces.
I think Van Jones has some good ideas, his problem is that he hasn’t figured out the right platform to deliver them. As far as the PL goes, they have been reduced to propping up the #OWS movement while simultaneously praising Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman.
