Port truck drivers thank ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protesters
By Agence France-Presse
Monday, December 12, 2011
A group of port truck drivers thanked the “99 Percenters” on Monday for bringing attention to their profession, which they claim is rife with labor abuses. “Normally we are invisible,” they said. “The companies we work for call us independent contractors, as if we were our own bosses, but they boss us around,” the truck drivers said. “We receive Third World wages and drive sweatshops on wheels. We cannot negotiate our rates.”
“Why are companies like SSA Marine, the Seattle-based global terminal operator that runs one of the West Coast’s major trucking carriers, Shippers’ Transport Express, doing this?” they continued. “Why would mega-rich Maersk, a huge Danish shipping and trucking conglomerate that wants to drill for more oil with Exxon Mobil in the Gulf Coast conduct business this way too?” “To cheat on taxes, drive down business costs, and deny us the right to belong to a union, that’s why.”
Wow! Glad they’re getting a light shined on this inequity! Thanks creolechild~
This is where the OWS movement can do some good. Out of the parks where they irritate surrounding residents and into areas where real working people need to have attention drawn to their mistreatment. This and registering voters are good steps.
Don’t ya just LOVE it when you see him having fun!! There was a picture of him and Sasha at the Iowa Fair in the bumper cars. I’m not sure who was having more fun.. — her or him!!
^^^ ^^^ The pic of PBO and Sasha at the Iowa State Fair. I LOVE that picture!!!
There’s also a pic of him and Malia on a roller coaster type ride with Malia screaming and PBO looking at her as if he doesn’t quite understand what she’s screaming about!
Do you have that picture, hopefruit2?
This is not the exact picture I’m referring to but it was similar (except malia was clearly screaming and PBO was giving her a side glance)! I can’t seem to find the original one.
Thanks for the effort. Boy has Miss Malia changed in 3 short years!
Chelsea Clinton reporting on touching stories around America. Jenna Bush as a contributor to the Today Show. Gag me.
Now, now. Let’s not talk about peoples offspring. Except for Cheney’s.
I saw Cheney’s spawn (luckily I hit the mute button in time) and Cheney himself (ditto) somewhere on TV tonight. The offspring is quite upset that PBO ended her daddy’s war, I guess, which is still coming back to haunt him. All I can say about Cheney besides the obvious disgust I feel for him is that he is looking like he’s aged 20 years in the last couple.
Cheney’s spawn is another one I can not stand. If she is so upset let her suit up and go over to Iraq with Liebermann, McCain, Graham, and all those who wanted the troops to stay in Iraq.
Don’t forget Meghan McCain. She’s fair game because she is a political pundit. I thought she was learning but she interviewed Michelle Bachmann and could not understand why she doesn’t get more attention. Meghan said Bachmann was ‘more smarter’ than Palin.
Bachmann more smarter than Palin, that’s not saying very much. Or maybe it’s saying alot, maybe Meghan McCain isn’t that smart. She is John McCain’s daughter, after all.
Well, that’s an impressive yardstick for you. Technically, Meghan is probably right. Compared to Palin, Michele probably is smarter, but who isn’t? If Meghan thought it was Palin’s smarts that got her attention, she isn’t thinking like a guy. SP was the R sexpot of the moment, as inconceivable as that seems to the sane.
“More smarter”. She did not actually say that, did she?
Is our children learnin’?
Nighty night Chips. Thanks for the amazing job today!
Brought to you by “The Paranoia Posse.” Please explain to me why this bill has so many sponsors?!! Overreact, much?
House bill could outlaw negotiations with Iran
By Eric W. Dolan
Monday, December 12, 2011
Legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at beefing up economic sanctions against Iran could prohibit the United States from negotiating with the country, Reps. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and Fortney Pete Stark (D-CA) warned in a letter to their colleagues. The Iran Threat Reduction Act, H.R. 1905, is expected to pass this week under a suspension of House rules.
The bill has a whopping 368 co-sponsors. Section 601 of the bill would make it illegal to contact any Iranian official who “presents a threat to the United States” unless the President certifies to Congress that not talking to the Iranian official “would pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the vital national security interests of the United States” 15 days prior to that contact.
This is like grade school. How exactly do you work things out with an enemy unless you leave a door open for them to become an ally? The Iranian government is all kinds of horrible, but they have a lot of influence in the area, are “friends” with China and Russia, and are holding a lot of people hostage who want freedom. If it becomes a crime to try to resolve that situation, then this basically makes them a permanent enemy, and erases any incentive for them to cooperate. This is the stupidest thing I’ve heard, and just one more step towards World War III.
I cannot imagine that this bill will not be vetoed by the president who understands the consequences very well–even assuming it gets through the Senate. Maybe this would be a good time for some sensible Democratic senator (who’s not up for re-election) to exercise a “hold,” just like the R’s do every day.
This is a clear encroachment into the presidential territory. 2010 electorate must rank as the most stupidest in american history
368????? That means there are a whole bunch of lily-livered Dems that haven’t got the msg that there is a new MFing DEM sheriff @ 1600 PA Ave — he got the pirates, OBL, 22 of 30 top AQ, sparked Arab spring, etc, etc, etc. DEMS you don’t have to go along to get along on defense and nat’l security; PBO has proved that Dems can keep us safe with SMART foreign and defense policy!
It seems to me this is part of the GOP Congressional push to take away Presidential actions allowed by the Constitution.
God Bless President Obama – that he’s willing to put up with four more years of this nonsense.
Thank you, Norbrook!
Yes, Republicans. Again.
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
― Isaac Asimov
And the current crop of Republicans running for President seem bound to demonstrate that.

Bobfr as always, u rock!
You’re an inspiration to us all, Bob. I so admire your quick mind.
OT: Just got a tweet from the morning anchor of WEAR TV in Pensacola, FL. WEAR is one of the local stations PBO will be conducting an interview with tomorrow about the end of the Iraq war. Earlier, I tweeted the names of the stations and mentioned how wonderful it was that PBO was once again bypassing the lame white house press corps and going local, and the reporter retweeted my tweet and sent me a nice tweet back saying thank you and also telling me how proud and happy they were PBO chose their station.
That’s another reason I’m happy PBO is going local. The local stations get so happy that he chose them and they advertise the interview all day everyday. It’s all good.
ps: Also got retweeted by @whpresscorps and got a tweet. I don’t think they were happy with me calling them lame. Oh well. Tough titties. Truth is truth.
Call ‘em like you see ‘em, UT.
Keep up the good work and keep the msm on their toes,ut.
way 2 go UT
Thanks ut..the whpresscorp couldn’t be any more lame if they were paid a $million bucks to be more inept.
utaustinliberal, Who cares what they like? The truth is the truth, then again maybe they don’t know anything about the truth, Henry, Tapper, Todd, O’Donnell, just to name a few.
This is fantastic ut! You do us proud on Twitter
Something tells me that some of those local media folks lurk here from time to time.
What a great story!
Two thumbs up, UTAL! I love the local coverage as well.
I think this is an example where reaching out to journalists can make a difference. They are human beings with human reactions to positive and negative communications from listeners/readers. Awhile back I was so annoyed by a snarky article in the Wash Post that I wrote to the reporter, he wrote back, and I could tell from his response that he was a bit embarrassed by what he had written. I don’t read the Post regularly enough to follow up on his articles after that – I should do that. But I know that I made some kind of impression on him.
I once heard a journalist talk about how sometimes they get threatening, really hostile mail sometimes, and it can’t help but affect how they approach a story. I’ll never do that. But I do feel reaching out to the writer in a positive way, or with constructive criticism, can make a difference.
We’re always so ready to feel outraged, indignant +++. We should remember to praise the good stuff, too.
I’ve had some back-and-forth emails and tweets from reporters, too. Wish I could remember the details but an AA reporter for a Pittsburgh newspaper divulged his true feelings about something that happened in an editorial board meeting in one of his columns and there was a huge buzz about it (during the ’08 campaign). I emailed him to thank him and he wrote back to say he hadn’t heard of it and would I send him some of the links. I did that and he wrote back another couple of times. Funny but I think he later pulled back on his story a bit, probably at the direction of his editor (their paper was being singled out for criticism). But he had the fun of being a journalistic hero of a sort around the country for a couple of days.
Chuck Toad and Andrea Mitchell both disagreed big time with my criticisms on a few occasions in the past. Chuck was very condescending about it, but Andrea just tried to defend herself by saying she was always covering “both sides.” I’ve since given up on both of them.
Recently, I tweeted approval of something to Goldie Taylor, Charles M. Blow, David Corn (whom I don’t usually agreed with), and Roger Simon. They all tweeted back. You are right – they don’t always get kudos when they (finally) write something palatable.
Anybody from OFA during the last election cycle would remember Ed Schultz and some of his disgusting personal email responses, but I’ve decided to let that go for now, since he’s suddenly a big supporter of the President.
Wonderful, ut! So glad you have mastered the art of multi-tasking in your life! We need you leading the way to election day 2012.
Good to know..thanks, utweeter!
I heart you.
I’m keeping the message going and tweeted something similar about President Obama bypassing the WHPC.. You inspired me.
This article was written with a European audience in mind; however, in my opinion it’s also beneficial for Americans and reaffirms what the President has been emphasizing during his time in office.~
Educating youth benefits us all
December 3, 2011 – 12:32am
Pablo Zalba Bidegain
“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” On this point, I completely agree with Nelson Mandela. Education is probably the most important key for development and welfare. We live in a world of continuous changes. In order to keep up with and make the most of them, a solid structure is crucial, and this structure is built upon education. We are suffering one of the worst crises in our history, but with the belief that we can tackle it together. Unity is the only way out.
Europe is becoming an old continent and we have to seek a balance between young and old people. This is why education must be general and open to everybody for everybody, and flexible to be adapted it to people’s individual needs and skills. When we talk about education, we should mean educating the person as a whole, and not just academically.
Chips – Another money shot! Love that photo. Oh, my.
SAVAGE OFFERS GINGRICH $1 MILLION TO DROP OUT OF THE RACE
(SUBJECT TO ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO BE EXPRESSLY STATED BY DR. SAVAGE, INCLUDING GINGRICH DROPPING OUT WITHIN 72 HOURS OF TODAY)
THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL FIELD HAS COME DOWN TO TWO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE A REAL CHANCE OF GETTING THE NOMINATION: NEWT GINGRICH AND MITT ROMNEY. WHILE IT’S TRUE THAT ROMNEY IS NOT AS STRONG A CONSERVATIVE AS MANY WOULD LIKE HIM TO BE, THE MOST PRESSING ISSUE BEFORE AMERICA TODAY IS DEFEATING BARACK OBAMA. AND THAT IS SOMETHING NEWT GINGRICH CANNOT DO. FOR WEEKS ON MY SHOW, I HAVE ENUMERATED THE REASONS WHY GINGRICH CANNOT SUCCEED IN AN ELECTION AGAINST OBAMA:
WHEN HE WAS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, GINGRICH FAILED TO DELIVER ON HIS SO-CALLED CONTRACT WITH AMERICA.
HE MADE ADS WITH NANCY PELOSI PROMOTING THE FALSE THEORY OF GLOBAL WARMING.
HE’S IN FAVOR OF AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS.
HE’S TAKEN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC, TWO OF THE MOST CORRUPT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN HISTORY.
HE’S CHEATED ON TWO WIVES AND LEFT BOTH OF THEM WHILE THEY WERE BOTH SERIOUSLY ILL, WHICH WILL DESTROY HIS CHANCES AMONG FEMALE VOTERS.
HE CALLED THE REPUBLICAN PLAN TO REFORM MEDICARE “RIGHT WING SOCIAL ENGINEERING.”
IN A PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE AGAINST OBAMA, REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL HE DOES, ON TELEVISION, HE WILL COME OFF BADLY COMPARED TO OBAMA AND LOOK LIKE NOTHING MORE THAN WHAT HE IS: A FAT, OLD, WHITE MAN.
NEWT GINRICH IS UNELECTABLE. MITT ROMNEY IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WITH A CHANCE OF DEFEATING BARACK OBAMA, AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT FOR FUTURE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THEREFORE, I AM OFFERING NEWT GINGRICH ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO DROP OUT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE FOR THE SAKE OF THE NATION.
IF NEWT GINGRICH REALLY LOVES THIS COUNTRY AS MUCH AS HE SAYS HE DOES, IF HE REALLY WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR AMERICA, HE WILL SET HIS EGO ASIDE, CALL ME, AND ACCEPT MY OFFER. HIS CONTINUED CANDIDACY SPELLS NOTHING BUT RUIN FOR CONSERVATIVES, REPUBLICANS, AND ALL TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS. ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN EXCHANGE FOR PRESERVING THE NATION, NEWT. I SAY TAKE THE MONEY… AND DON’T RUN.
Sorry I didn’t want to link Michael Savage -Anti Obama Website *And yes it was all in Caps)…lol You can tell they want Gingrich out…..
LOL Please pass Popcorn…
Not Dan Savage being snarky, huh?
No it’s that racist rightwing nutjob Michael Savage.
So, #1 – the “most pressing issue before AMERICA today is defeating Barack Obama”? I guess America only consists of the rabid Republicans – the rest of the people are interlopers, which is why they’re trying to eliminate their chances to vote. AND #2 it’s a shame they don’t realize that Romney doesn’t stand a chance to win against President Obama, either. I almost feel sorry for them. No, not really.
Hit it, Theo. When you put the defeat of the president above everything else, you have already lost.
Good night Chips & TODville. Thank you all for a day well-spent.
Quick one. Has anybody yet heard any of the returning military who are back from Iraq mention anything about thanking President Obama for the promise kept? I realize the media might block that, but I was just wondering. They’re not supposed to speak out in uniform on anything political, but some seem to be getting out of the service now that their latest tour has ended – and would be free to talk.
Saw an interview on the Ed Show tonight with a soldier back from Iraq speaking in a complimentary way about coming home.
This link might be helpful. It’s the same guy that was on the Ed Show. The guys name is Jon Stoltz.
The powerful forces arrayed against PBO are mindboggling — Iran hawks, military Industrial complex, bankers,Fundamentalist Christianists, toothless PL/Emoprogs, die-hard PUMAs, angry old white males, Kochtopus, big Oil, Wingnut teatard party and corporatists bluedogs.
Wow. no wonder GWB told PBO in 2005 (Audacity of Hope) that he must watch his back cuz the knives from both parties will be out to get him.
All PBO has is his faith, family, persistence and us. We gotta have his back.
First, I loved your descriptions of the various groups! I’m with you – we gotta have his back. The good part is that I’m pretty sure he knows we do.
HE KNOWS…WE DO! HE KNOWS WE LOVE HIM AND HE KNOWS WE WILL STAND WITH HIM!..:)
There are an awful lot of us and we’re not going to let the ugly, the angry and the greedy defeat us. Also PBO has one of the sharpest minds and impressive campaign organizations in history.
ooooh! I love that fishing picture. He looks so……. joyful. I just love this dude. I can’t help myself.
true WOS we r living in a truly remarkable time.
Goodnight friends sleep tight
Good night all. I pause to reflect on the meaning of today’s meeting of PBO with the Iraqi Prime Minister. Such a contrast from shoes flying at the head of a president. It’s sobering to think of what the Bush/Cheney cabal wrought in Iraq and just how far PBO has brought us in only his third year in office. So much blood shed, so much money wasted, so many hearts and minds poisoned. So much time gone. I am thankful to our brave men and women for all they’ve sacrificed, and I’m thankful that we now have a wise leader in the White House.
May we quote you in the morning? (Get it?)
I mean it! Well said.
You’re sweet, JOB. Thanks and nitey nite ♥ .
Speaker-for-Life Pelosi will be the exclusive guest on The Ed Show tomorrow night. Should be good.
1,2,3- sure enough, what happens the next day when the President has good poll numbers?
Yup. New ones showing the opposite.
USA today Gallup has both Gingrich and Romney up 6 points on the President in 12 battleground states.
Be prepared, this poll will be spoken about every segment on Tuesday.
They are predictable!!!
To hell with them and their stupid reactionary manufactured polls – we know this pattern well enough to call BS!
But the uninformed voter is who they are targeting. This poll will get it’s due, on every news show possible.
I don’t know how that happens, unless the RNC has friends in high places, at every news show in America.
This is why their messaging is borderline state run tv, but just for republicans.
They have had polls like that before. At one time Michelle Bachman was supposedly tied with PBO according to their polls. However, we all know that these are propaganda polls because the GOP’s internal polls (that they won’t show you, me or the public) tell a VERY different picture from the manufactured polling they put out in the media. That’s why they are flailing and are so miserably unhappy with their current frontrunners Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.
You don’t pay your frontrunner a million bucks to drop out of a race if you truly believe that he/she will beat Barack Obama. You don’t pen columns claiming that there is still opportunity for a “latecomer” in the race if you are confident with your current field of candidates. From time to time they need to manufacture polling that shows PBO as “vulnerable” in an attempt to depress DEM voter enthusiasm.
Exactly. It’s just like when I see polls were Ron Paul supposedly beats PBO in a majority of states both blue and red and I hear morons like Scarborough and other rightwingers crow about how Paul is going to wipe the floor with PBO. It’s just all pure nonsense. They’re so scared of PBO winning in 2012 that there’s been a collective effort to tarnish their frontrunner and put the robotic Willard in his place thinking that he’ll fare better (NOT!) When Fox News poll after Fox News poll (Yes; that Fox News) shows PBO ahead of all the GOP Clowns in 2012 and when breakdowns of internal GOP polls show PBO doing way better than they expected, then you know the ground is shifting and any other nonsense poll where they try to pretend that 44% 46% or 50% approval rating is such a low sucky number is complete and utter hogwash.
Regardless – as President Obama said last night, as long as the opposition is espousing GOP failed policies, then it’s a clear choice – regardless of the personality. It may take a different style, but the facts will still be the facts. One side is working for America, and the other side is working for the wealthy – no matter where those wealthy reside.
Well said, Hopefruit.
Inside the manufactured numbers by the lazy, President Obama still beats Wllard by 1 and Newton Leroy by 5 nationally. The lazy ones want a horse race.
Remember that Dukakis was beating GH Bush in polls until the fall of 1988. And that didn’t work out too well for MIchael.
I’m not worry about the gallup poll. Everyday there is a new poll and when it’s good news for the President it is hardly mention. Six points up, that’s all. Look at it like it’s a basketball game, six points is not a big lead. So the President is still in the game, I remember it wasn’t long ago that Romney was leading the President in Florida. NBC poll had the President leading Newt and Romney in Florida. I have faith. I don’t believe Americans are going to be stupid enough to vote for these crazy radical Republicans.
Obama is interviewed by regional television outlets.
Obama delivers remarks at a campaign event.
Biden hosts a Cabinet meeting.
Carney briefs the press.
I’m late, I’m late…..but wanted to say thanks for the great pics of FLOTUS and BO at the Childrens Hospital. Looks like the kids enjoyed it and loved Bo coming along.
Some of us on the West Coast are still here!
Sorry if this been posted, but this is why we’re going to win, and win big:
I like GQ objective reporting. So much of our journalists are subjective and biased. Not this person, he just reports what he sees!
This makes me so happy! I like this:
“I ask one advisor—who, like nearly everyone, will address strategy only anonymously—the question of the week: Are you doing anything differently to prepare for Gingrich? She laughs. “Depending on which month you’d stopped by, you would’ve been asking ‘Are you ready for Bachmann? Are you ready for Perry?’ We’re built to win,” she says, “irrespective of who the nominee is going to be. We don’t get to pick that guy.”
They’ve got their eyes on the prize.
Oh yeah! And, that’s where all our eyes are!
That picture was taken here in Montana in August when we were fighting for health care. The whole family had flown in to Bozeman airport. He gave a speech in the hanger and then went fishing. I was with a union group zcountering the. Tea Party. It was a very large crowd. We. didn’t getto see the President but we did get to see. See Air Force 1.and harass. abunch of Tea Partners.
I am sorry for all the crazy mistakes on my post. I am on my DROID and it is driving me crazy.
WASHINGTON – First it was a campaign-style speech in the heartland.
Then it was a sitdown with “60 Minutes.”
Tomorrow, President Obama makes clear he’s in full reelection mode when he addresses his most ardent campaign fund-raisers in Washington.
The Democrat is scheduled to speak to some of the Democratic Party’s top financiers during their winter meeting near Capitol Hill.
The backers are also slated to hear from Obama for America National Finance Chairman Matthew Barzun, as well as Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Obama has been on an aggressive fund-raising schedule as he prepares to seek a second term next year.
More straight reporting from thus journalist. Well done. They must be novice.
Alert: Brave US Military Enlisted, #ChichenHawk #NEOCONSTER #Newt #Mitt #Cheney will spill your blood for their greed, 24×7. #ZEROGOP2012
Never forget, Bush & Cheney paid ZERO attention to all the warnings before 9/11 and then launched an illegal war on Iraq – a sovereign Nation that had nothing to do with 9/11 and everything to do with contracts for Halliburton & other friends of Cheney.
Ike warned us in Jan 1961 mcadams.posc.mu.edu/ike.htm #PresObama was born in Aug 1961. He’s the 1st US Pres to get it. Thus, NEOCONSTERS hate him.

Roflmao! They got the big flat screen now! Speaking of idiots..WNutDaily flew over a football game in Texas asking where the real birth certificate was? Showing the world in a very expensive way how completely moronic they are.
Thanks Chips for the multitude of pics and info you’ve provided us with today~ And, thanks to everyone on this TOD Board!
Congressional negotiators have resolved most of their differences on a $1 trillion omnibus bill but will not release legislative text on Monday as they had hoped.
Aides differed on the exact reasons for the delay. A GOP aide said the delay is technical in nature and that “a bipartisan, bicameral agreement” is in place on the package. A Democratic aide said that the White House, which has been intimately involved in the omnibus bill behind the scenes, was still reviewing the deal.
“There’s still a couple of open items that need to be ironed out. These aren’t deal breakers or game changers but are still important issues that need to be resolved,” the aide said.
Obama to speak to TV anchors about Iraq, spending
(AP) – 12 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is sitting down in the White House for interviews with four TV stations whose cities have large military communities.
The Obama administration on Tuesday will wade into the increasingly divisive national debate over new voting laws in several states that could depress turnout among minorities and others who helped elect the president in 2008.
A dozen states this year tightened rules requiring voters to present state-issued photo identification at the polls, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Although Democratic governors vetoed four of the measures, liberal and civil rights groups have been raising alarms about the remaining laws, calling them an “assault on democracy” and an attempt to depress minority voter turnout.
Supporters of the tighter laws say they are needed to combat voter fraud.
With the presidential campaign heating up, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. will deliver a speech Tuesday expressing concerns about the voter-identification laws, along with a Texas redistricting plan before the Supreme Court that fails to take into account the state’s burgeoning Hispanic population, he said in an interview Monday.
In trade says the President has a 50% shot at winning re election.
That is where he starts out, before he starts to campaign.
Romney has a 42% chance of winning the primary, and Gingrich has a 37 % chance of winning primary.
Intrade is very accurate.
Employers in the U.S. plan to hire more workers in the first quarter of 2012, indicating growing optimism over the economic outlook, a survey showed.
Manpower Inc. (MAN), the world’s second-largest provider of temporary workers, said today its employment index climbed to 9 percent, the highest reading since 2008, from 7 percent for the October to December period on a seasonally adjusted basis. The gauge increased for the first time in a year.
A pickup in employment would raise the odds that consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of the economy will sustain recent gains into next year. Uncertainty surrounding the outcomes of the European debt crisis and the U.S. budget battle may be holding companies back from expanding workforces even more, the report said.
“Slow-but-steady momentum has improved employer confidence,” Jonas Prising, president of the Americas for Milwaukee-based Manpower, said in a statement. While “this uptick is encouraging,” there is “continued uncertainty about the future and ongoing caution when it comes to staffing plans,” he said.
Sure enough- morning idiot is all over that USA bunk battleground poll.
Doom and gloom for the President. Now, 1 day after saying the President is in great shape for re election, Joe and his mindless panel, says he is doomed.
Doomed, I tell ya.
I don’t watch Morning Joke. It’s not just because of all the anti-Obama stuff. It’s because I just don’t like Joe and that host of his. Never have, never will. So to hell with Morning Joke.
The problem is- the rest of the day, msnbc will report on this breathlessly.
Conclusion- dont watch msnbc during the day, which has a center right bias anyways.
Who are these idiots? Seriously.
The tax plan proposed by Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich would add $1.3 trillion to the U.S. budget deficit in 2015 alone, a new analysis shows, complicating his goal of balancing the government’s books.
The analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center compares the federal government’s take under Gingrich’s proposal with projected U.S. revenue if current tax law ran its course and existing income tax cuts expired as scheduled after 2012.
In other words, don’t look at this very important fact, look instead at the Presudents battleground poll numbers.
Uh huh, uh huh!
Chuck Todd finally done something good–
Any news on 4th quarter fund raising ?
Not until the deadline of January 15.

More than 20 years ago, Congress ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate toxic air pollution. It’s done that for most industries, but not the biggest polluters — coal and oil-burning power plants.
The EPA now plans to change that later this week, by setting new rules to limit mercury and other harmful pollution from power plants.
When Congress first told the EPA to regulate toxic air pollution in 1990, pediatrician Lynn Goldman was investigating the impact of mercury from mining operations on Native American families living near a contaminated lake.
“We had children that had levels that were many times higher than levels that are considered to be safe,” Goldman says.
Their families caught and ate a lot of local fish, and Goldman says she had to advise them to stop. The fish had too much mercury.
Morning MUST READ
Again, all politics is local. Republican Rick Scott is the least popular governor in the United States—right now at 26 percent and still sinking. Scott and Haley are prime examples of governors who were supposed to show a new and better way, with politics forged in the cauldron of Tea Party fervor about an absence of accountability, and so on. But these politicians have turned out to be just like all the old ones, except less competent. And if Obama holds Florida, he can afford to lose—take note of this list—Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Nevada, New Mexico, and either Michigan or Pennsylvania, and still rack up a winning 270 electoral votes. (Here, go click the states yourself.) But of course, if he’s winning Florida, he’s likely not losing any of those other states, with the exception of Indiana. Indeed, if he’s winning Florida by around double digits, he’s winning Missouri, Arizona, and maybe Georgia (yes, even—I’d say especially—against Gingrich).
I agree- but notice the GOP has polls they can pull out of their asses, and they are the ones that get all the attention!
Reality was never their strong suit. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
Mika and Joe are going off on each other. Mika is castrating Newt, Joe is castrating The Prez.
I have never seen them argue like this before.
What’s next? Mud wrestling?
Did anyone just see Tina Brown bashing President Obama on Morning Junk ? She said he does not like being President and he seems depressed .
Now, she is an empath. She knows how and what the Prez feels.
Man, the hatred of this President is severe, at least in DC!
She also said he did not llke politics. Did she see his 2008 campaign, perhaps one of the best run campaigns in modern history? I simply do not understand the MSM and their aversion to PBO.
That idiot sound like Chris Matthews….he doesn’t like being President? Did she say he didn’t seem grateful enough?…
Ok now he look depressed……….I swear these ”analysts” are the worst…..they have nothing, absolutely nothing of value to say, just making ***** up.
It drives me crazy.
It’s just garbage.
Who is tina brown ?
She runs the Daily Beast and Newsweek .
Um, is she important enough for us to care ?
She is a British media whore who is now editor of Newsweek and the Daily Beast.
Never heard of her.
You have not missed anything.
US November NFIB small business optimism index ruses to 92, above estimates-
The House Republican leadership managed to get one thing right in its bill to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits. The bill does, indeed, extend the payroll tax cut for another year, but, beyond that, there is a lot to dislike. To help pay for the package, for instance, the bill would cut social spending more deeply than is already anticipated under current budget caps without asking wealthy Americans to contribute a penny in new taxes.
