And to you and yours, overseasgranny! This is also the first New Year my baby great grandson will ring in, since he wasn’t even born on Jan. 1, 2010! Now, that’s something to be happy and excited about!
And to Chips: because I’m one-quarter Irish, I smiled that you once again have found a good reason to post the video of the President in Ireland!
Agreed, Jovie – the Rethug House does feel like a dangerous menace. I have been a staunch Democrat my entire life and while there are certainly fundamental differences between Left and Right ideologies-I did not necessairly feel that Republicans were being obstructive, divisive, and infantile just for the sake of being so. Casually playing with people’s lives with reckless abandon.
And a Happy New Year to you Chipsticks and to everyone here at The Obama Diary. It’s sunny here in northern Utah after a terrific wind storm last night. 30.5 degrees f, and we’re getting our veggie garden ready for spring.
Hey, it’s our anniversary today. Ha, my husband claimed me on his taxes the next year and my dad was NOT happy. Sure do miss both my parents.
I think this is a good sign though. I had been 18 for a month, got married and still married to a great guy. I was a “Mimi” when I was 35 – yikes! But love every minute of it. And it’s our FORTY FOURTH
anniversary. A good sign for the next 4 years, doncha think?
Jennifer–Happy, happy anniversary! How cool to be married on New Year’s Eve–the whole world celebrates with you. Forty four’s a lucky number–for all of us.
Something seriously wrong with this dude. Like Chips, I lurk from time to time on conservative websites. They HATE Willard. They dislike him for different reasons than people on the left do, but one thing the left and right have in common is their disgust at his inauthenticity and downright weirdness. This plastic imitator will never be president.
Why MSNBC is pushing him so much is disturbing also. There must be some $$$$ flowing between the two entities somehow. That usually explains the bedfellow connection.
I keep saying the very same thing. Something is “off” with him. He’s too fake, everything he does seems too contrived. I don’t think there’s a genuine bone in his body.
I’m okay df. i let my skivvies get bunched up yesterday and had to put myself in the “Time-out” corner. I forgot that I started out with nothing…and I still have most of it left. I will endeavor to hold my peace in the future. Happy New Year back atcha!
So glad that you’re alright I missed the dust up, but I did see the apology from hopefruit…a family spat…hug and make up. We all must have one another’s backs…that cruel world out there can get us sometimes….but we need to have each other. Happy New Year. Better days ahead:)
Yardam, so nice to see you. I relate to your feelings being left a widow when my husband died of Agent Orange from Vietnam and I certainly remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. I may not have been chased by dogs or had fire hoses aimed at me but I can certainly feel compassion for those who did. My brother who is 74yrs of age did experience some of those indignities when he marched along side Dr. Martin Luther King, JR. As a woman entering my 70th decade, I wish you well with health for 2012 and await you wonderful comments you bring to TOD. God bless you.
I also want to thank everyone at TOD for a rousing Happy New Year of action and perseverence as we work hard for our beloved President and stand firm with our voices on the internet, email, letters, twitter and 1 to 1 in our support. You guys are the greatest and blessed be to you Chips for this haven to allow us to keep our eye on the ball.
Thanks Barb i appreciate your kind and heart felt words. i am so sorry for your loss and can appreciate where your Boo came from. Believe it or not, Emmitt Till and lived in the same neighborhood, back in the day. That struggle was far worse than what we have today. Things today aren’t as life threatening as they were then. Except in certain locations .
In any case, the young have it so i must let it go. The new year is rapidly approaching and i will celebrate being on the right side of the grass for 71 years. BE BLESSED!
yardarm, Emmitt was a neighbor. That is so hearbreaking. Truthfully, you have to live through that time to feel the full percussions of it.
To loose family, friends or accquaintances jars the psyche of a person that stays with them forever. When my husband was in Vietnam, I had two babies under 3 years of age. I was extremely anxious and scared. That is why I admire our First Family so much because they realize it is every member that suffers during wartime. You are a survivor and a strong man. We can walk proudly into this next cycle with our heads held high and the experiences that made our life what it is today. Peace………….age 70 and holding strong. lol
If you didn’t get a chance to scroll through Pete Souza’s photo-summary of 2011 please do! He writes a caption for each one. So much more interesting knowing a little about what was being said, etc during the photo. He likened the girls screaming “Barack” and “Michelle” in Dublin for POTUS’s speech to the screaming of girls in the 60s for the Beatles.

I read each and every caption — I loved getting his take on the photos. He is extremely talented and very generous and warm with his comments. Very enjoyable and inspiring.
Happy New Year to Ms Chips and all in the TOD family. May 2012 be a prosperous, fulfilling, rewarding, thriving and pro-active year. By the way it is a leap year which is said, round these parts, to mean fertility, all things blossoming and blooming, richness and abundance.
Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said Thursday that imposing sanctions on Iran would be an “act of war,” according to ABC News. He added that threats by Iran to block a key oil route over potential sanctions would be justification.

Re-posting from the last thread. You’re too fast for me Chips. Much love to you sister <3
———————————————————————————–
In 2008, i was active on OFA blog pushing back against the lies and helping with the fundraising efforts.
However in 2012, I can’t stay on the sidelines. I have 3 weeks off next year and would like to use them as a foot soldier for the campaign in anyway they see fit.
I’m not a US citizen and have a French accent but I’m sure an extra helping hand wouldn’t be refused by OFA. Please let me know how I can apply to travel where and when my help is needed.
This is not only about the president reelection, this about us, citizens of the world. What happens in your country affects us all. the GOP is a madhouse run by madmen. We cannot let them win the presidency, the house, the senate or any state or local majority. They showed us their true colors in 2010. We have no excuses now to sit back and wait. We now know the dark forces behind them. We’re fighting for democracy, no less!
With all that said, I’m very hopeful for us and our president (yes he’s mine too but I believe in the power of action as well as emotion.
In 2011, the Arab spring showed us that a united front of fed up regular citizens can topple dictatorships. In 2012, the American people have no choice but to also stand against attacks on their rights and threats to democracy as we know it.
What a generous offer. I am sure OFA can use you. Where do you live? and what is the nearest swing state? Maybe we could hook you up with some folks on this blog who live near you and could use the help.
Thank you for all you do for this community and PBO. WiW, I love your blog and the uplifting stories you share.
I live in Vancouver, BC on the NW coast. I don’t know where and when the campaign can use me best. I need to know in advance so I can make arrangements with flight and hotel reservations. I tried to apply to volunteer on OFA website but they ask for a zip code
Any suggestions on how I can connect with OFA volunteers and see how we can make this happen?
‘I tried to apply to volunteer on OFA website but they ask for a zip code’
So did I earlier in the year with the same results. I also checked out Democrats Abroad in hopes of helping the branch closest to me, but apparently they only accept contact/help from American Citizens!
Last time around during the GE Campaign the Headquarters in Chicago had a phone number that had actual people answering the phone. They were helpful and when they did not know an answer someone would check and call you back. I do not know if that is set up this early or not.
Hey Joyce, another Canadian here with a french accent,…haha….impossible to get rid of it.
I can relate to what you’re saying so much!…..A superpower cannot be govern by RW extremists, it’s too dangerous and volatile. It’s scary not only for Americans.
I do what I can, I talk to people, I send information as often as I can.
I get frustrated often about the misinformation out there.
On Christmas eve, we have a tradition at my house. I have 2 sons in their 20′s and all their friends with who they grew up with are invited, they can bring their girlfriends as well, the more the merrier….
So everybody was having a good time, my support for President Obama is no secret for anyone. At some point one pointed at the painting of President Obama that I have in my living room and said:
” Ron Paul for the win”.
And I hear cheers from the rest of them….they were about 25 of them including the girlfriends and my sons……
”Yea yea Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul”……
I couldn’t believe it…..we had about 2 hours of very lively conversation after that…….I said to them at some point : Oh God I’m glad you’re Canadians and cannot vote”.
But they have a lot of American friends online and interact with them regularly……I was discouraged,.
Nothing I said resonated with them……legalizing pot, drugs was THE thing…….no wars……
There’s nothing in Ron Paul agenda that is realistic, the man is crazy……and there’s so much more to his agenda than legalizing pot…he would dismantle everything, no rules, no regulations…..it doesn’t make any sense, it’s madness.
{{ChristiMtl}} – Chin up! I have to believe that there is another group of 25+ young adults in the same age range who are more aware than these guys seem to be. Unless they were deliberately pulling your chain,
When I was working with teens on a daily basis, just about the time I would get discouraged that some seemingly ‘hopeless’/'clueless’ individuals/group would be in charge of MY old age, I would be blown away by the insight, maturity and or compassion of another group. I often consoled myself with the fact that the ‘smart’/'astute’, etc young people were out there somewhere, (ps. Think of the ‘smart ones’ we have here in our TOD family) even if they weren’t quite as vocally opinionated as the others.
Canuck Joyce, you will be welcomed with open arms by the OFA to help in campaigning. In 2008, our county was lucky enough to get the help of a young man from Paris and what a terrific canvasser he was. Of course, he didn’t hurt that he charmed everyone with his good looks. But the point is that all are welcome.
BE IT RESOLVED:
TO RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA AND VICE PRESIDENT JOSEPH BIDEN to a second term of office in the United States presidential election on November 6, 2012.
4 MORE FOR 44
{{{{Happy New Year to everyone in TODville!!!! I look forward to your company in the years ahead.}}}}
So sorry to hear about your injury. Chalk it up to 2011. We will all help heal in 2012 by re-electing President Obama and giving him a Democratic Congress he can work with.
Take good care of it and yourself! While it’s a bad ending to 2011, we’re sending healing vibes that it will be the turning point towards a stupendous 2012. Best Wishes for 2012!
Sorry about your wrist, loving. Had a friend who did this and now she’s going great. Think of it this way, as the early weeks of 2012 go by, you’ll be getter stronger and stronger ala Rocky style.
LAL, may (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Healing Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) be yours for the start of 2012. Take good care of yourself.HZ
So the aide holding the rickety chair he was standing on the other day was a “meticulously stage-managed Romney event”? Perhaps it was. Intended to create a little excitement so the crowd would watch breathlessly to see if he would fall off of it. Otherwise, without rickety chair events they would all snore through his lies — I mean speech.
Has anyone else noticed the depressing lack of diversity at all the GOP events. When President Obama speaks, even in the whitest of areas, people listening look like America: all ages and races.
Thankful at the year’s end for our wonderful Obama and Biden families, their integrity, commitment to service and for Chipsticks (her awesomeness) and all the TOD family. In 2012 we will press on and reelect Obama/Biden and a democratic congress. Yes we can!
Even when PBO is in a predominantly white area, and pretty much the whole crowd is white — at least it’s a diverse white crowd. Different ages, walks of life, hair color (lol) — a happy, smiling, shiny, diverse white crowd.
And just look at the enthusiasm and joy in all the videos Chips posted. Can’t think of any current politician that can elicit such a response from people around the world. Or look at the members of the TOD family: all ages, races, and international. Yes we can! We are part of history and will create and support the change we need. Yes we can.
I have always been so wonderfully proud ,when I see the beautiful and diverse crowds about POB. That is because POB speaks to the hearts, minds, and souls of what America should look and be like. I love that about all of us. It makes the ‘better angels of our beings’ come together. That is ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Just Beautiful)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) HZ
These people are just not any good at their jobs. If they have to resort to that kind of ‘staging’ to get attention, all it does is call attention to their lack of professionalism. If they have to explain what they did, then it is an utter failure. OFA never leaves this sort of thing to chance. They pulled off amazing professional events over and over and over for months on end. That’s meticulous staging.
The difference between OFA and these groups is the difference between professionals and amateurs. All the money in the world doesn’t seem able to buy plain old competence and common sense.
Has everyone else also noticed that nobody ever appears to even be smiling, when they come out to witness the tragedies that are the Republican candidates in Iowa?
Thinking of President Obama’s campaign crowds just makes me smile more!
Finally coming up for air after the Christmas visit from my two sons and their great girlfriends! Happy New Year to Chips and TOD – thanks so much for all of the great pics and links!
Happy New Year to our wonderful esteemed leader here at TOD, Chips and to all the family here at TODville!! I do believe 2012 will be a great year! We are going to all be out there working to reelect the Obama/Biden team!!! To the best president and VPresident ever.
Love going back over those videos. Ireland is still my favorite trip. The feeling from there is so strong. Hope all of you have a great day.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday welcomed US Vice President Joe Biden’s remarks that the Taliban “per se is not our enemy”.
Biden’s comments to Newsweek magazine last week caused uproar in the US, which has been fighting a 10-year war against the Taliban-led insurgency, but reflected an increasing focus on finding a political settlement.
“We are very happy that America has announced that Taliban are not their enemy. This will bring peace and stability to the people of Afghanistan,” Karzai said during a ceremony in Kabul.
Karzai has agreed that if the United States wants to set up a Taliban liaison office in Qatar to enable peace talks he will not stand in the way, as long as Afghanistan is involved in the process.
Wishing all of you here a very Happy New Year and I hope you all enjoy yourselves.
I’m visiting friends this evening but will be ready to start doing all I can to help re elect President Obama next November.
God bless you all and God bless President Barack Obama.
GOP’s bullying tactics are winning Obama’s reelection for him
I have had enough of political bullying. What candidates are doing and saying to each other is tantamount to character defamation and harassment, both of which are against the law.
I am a retired teacher mentor. I substitute, provide professional development for teachers and mentors and enjoy working in a school setting. We are all there for the same reason — student achievement and success in the real world.
But the adults in the real world who want to be president are misbehaving. If politicians would step out of their situations and take a birds-eye view, they would see that their campaigns focus on picking apart the other guy or gal, or the other party. It does not have to be this way
I have been a liberal Democrat all my life. However, I would consider voting for any candidate who would step forward and say: “Let’s solve these problems together and collaborate, making this the best country it can be. Let’s stop bullying each other and work together for our nation, its businesses, its people and its ideals. Let’s talk about issues, not attack each other.”
It should not take a tragedy like the Gabby Giffords shooting to get the people in Washington to reach across the aisle. Bipartisanship should be the presumption when decisions are made.
Who will be the first to stand up against political bullying? I have a feeling it will be Barack Obama, simply because the Republicans are still having too much fun harassing each other.
Group’s Ads Rip at Gingrich as Romney Stands Clear
By NICHOLAS CONFESSORE and JIM RUTENBERG
Published: December 30, 2011
The attacks began three weeks ago and have not let up since: Television ad after television ad slamming Newt Gingrich for having “more baggage than the airlines,” for being fined by Congress for ethics violations, for his position on illegal immigration, even for admitting that he has made mistakes on the campaign trail.
Democrats and Republicans alike have singled out the $2.8 million-and-counting air deluge as the biggest factor in Mr. Gingrich’s precipitous drop in polls of Iowa voters and Mitt Romney’s corresponding rise, reshaping the critical first contest of the Republican primary season to Mr. Romney’s benefit.
The ads, which continue to blanket Iowa days before the caucuses here, were created and paid for by people with deep knowledge of the Romney campaign’s strategic thinking, close relationships with Mr. Romney’s most generous donors, and even research on what television viewers like and dislike most about Mr. Romney himself.
Yet neither Mr. Romney nor his staff has had to lift a finger or spend a dollar to make it happen. In a stark illustration of how last year’s landmark Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance has created powerful new channels for outside money to influence elections, the negative onslaught is the work of a group called Restore Our Future.
They’re going to do the same with Obama—–it’s not going to work because the Obama team will have the means to fight back, Gingrich did not. But it is going to be costly and nasty—-there is going to be a flood of negative ads. That Supreme Ct. decision was a complete disaster. Reporters in Ia. said it is constant on TV and radio, Romney’s scary and dark anti-Gingrich ads. They took care of Newt in pretty short order. Ugly. Romney produces positive ads under his name while his billionaire buddies do the dirty work.
Also, negative ads against PBO might end up backfiring because they don’t comport with what the voters see or experience. The recent Romney attacks like “marie antoinette” “birth certificate/grades” etc so far do not put Romney in a good light. I have no reason to believe that his subsequent attacks will.
Rick Perry campaign plays blame game
by JONATHAN MARTIN and MAGGIE HABERMAN | 12/31/11 7:09 AM EST Updated: 12/31/11 11:12 AM EST
DES MOINES — With a revamped message and a significant TV presence here, Rick Perry is hoping to revive his disappointing presidential campaign with a surprise finish Tuesday.
But even as they hold out hope that Perry can find a way back into contention, some of his advisers have begun laying the groundwork to explain how the Texas governor bombed so dramatically in a race that he seemed to control for a brief period upon his entry in August
Their explanations for the nosedive come against the backdrop of a campaign riven by an intense, behind-the-scenes power struggle that took place largely between a group of the governor’s longtime advisers and a new cadre of consultants brought on this fall. In the end, the outsiders won out — and ever since have marginalized Perry’s longtime chief strategist while crafting a new strategy in which the Texan has portrayed himself as a political outsider and culture warrior.
In a series of interviews with POLITICO, sources close to the campaign depict a dysfunctional operation that might be beyond saving because of what they describe as the political equivalent of malpractice by the previous regime.
“There has never been a more ineptly orchestrated, just unbelievably subpar campaign for president of the United States than this one,” said a senior Perry adviser.
……………
“They put the campaign together like all the other Perry campaigns: raise a bunch of money, don’t worry about the [media coverage], don’t worry about debates and buy the race on TV,” said a top Perry official. “You have to be a total rube to think a race for president is the same as a race for governor.”
Read in the Des Moines Register that someone at Perry’s event in Ft. Dodge Ia. today asked him if he, as a sitting governor, would fight for an amendment granting embryos the same legal status as people. Ay yi yi. And Perry responded by saying he would no longer be the gov. of Texas, that he would be “in the fray”, wink wink, as the Repub nominee for pres. Confidence! False confidence! Some lady asked Anita Perry if she would have one key worthwhile project as first lady like that nice (white) Laura Bush.
Romney’s Super PAC Is Destroying Gingrich
And he can thank the Citizens United ruling
Newt Gingrich might well be the first big-name casualty of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling that rewrote the rules on campaign financing. The decision cleared the way for “super PACs” like the one backing Mitt Romney called Restore Our Future, which has poured $2.8 million so far into nonstop TV ads attacking Gingrich, reports the New York Times. Gingrich’s standing in the polls has plunged since the spots started airing three weeks ago, and it’s all perfectly legal because the group operates independently of the Romney campaign (even if it’s run by former Romney aides).
These super PACs can take in unlimited donations, unlike the candidates’ official campaigns, and the arms war is just beginning. “Iowa is ground zero of what we can expect in every competitive state for the rest of the presidential election,” says the executive director of a group that tracks such things. Obama backers already have formed a super PAC of their own, called Priorities USA Action.
Also Newt had NO GROUND GAME to counteract the smears. And sadly for Newton everything negative said against him is true. He does come with a lot of very stinking baggage and he is a big blowhard. When they go against he president they will be telling blatant lies and the folks on the ground and on the phones and the man in the White House won’t stand for it.
African-American churches can make a difference in 2012 presidential election
By LESLIE WATSON MALACHI Other Words The Star Democrat | 0 comments
The 2008 election was a hopeful one for African-Americans in our democracy not because of who was elected, but because of who turned out to vote. We voted at a nearly identical rate to our white neighbors for the first time in U.S. history. In fact, African-American women had the highest turnout rate of any group of any race.
More than 40 years after the end of the Jim Crow era (albeit amid the resurrection of what many are calling the “New Jim Crow”), we closed that persisting gap of participation. In greater numbers than ever before, we stood up and we spoke with our vote
But since 2008, our right to vote which is essentially a form of free speech has been under an unprecedented attack. Shortly after the election, over half of Republican voters said that they believed the presidential election had been stolen for Barack Obama by ACORN, a now-defunct organization that worked to register new voters, including many African-Americans.
In response to this false myth promoted by right-wing media and politicians, state legislatures across the country have been trying to make it harder to register to vote. The most common form this takes is voter ID laws, which, under the guise of preventing the over-hyped problem of “voter fraud,” in fact keep millions of voters from the polls. These laws, which are on the books or being considered in 41 states, target voters who don’t have certain types of government identification. They are overwhelmingly young, elderly and persons of color.
What’s even more discouraging than the faulty basis of these restrictive laws is where they come from. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a group funded by large corporations that writes legislation for state legislators, is pushing these voter ID laws to states around the country. Why do big business interests care about restricting voting rights? Because voting is the only way those of us without millions of dollars to spend on elections can make our voices heard.
I wonder if Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield and Rice will dare to use their passports in 2012? LOL, too afraid to travel for fear of arrest. I don’t think of all of them only Bush has ventured outside the US and that was only to Canada and Haiti. Other than Rice, none of them ever really went anywhere while they were in office (remember Cheney at the funeral in his big hooded parka? How embarrassing for the US.) But whether or not they would ever travel I’m sure they are bothered that they aren’t as free to travel as you and me.
A Lion of the Pulpit, Aging Now, Has a Message for New Generations
By SAMUEL G. FREEDMAN
Published: December 30, 2011
Several hours before the other ministers were to arrive, a young preacher named Reginald High drove up to a tidy town house here, the home in retirement of the greatest black churchman in America, the Rev. Gardner C. Taylor. At 93, after a lifetime of religious and political vigor, Dr. Taylor was finally bending to the ravages of age. He said he had been thinking a lot lately of the biblical Jacob — “old and weak, leaning on his staff,” yet still worshiping God.
That week in early December, Mr. High helped Dr. Taylor get out of bed and change from nightclothes into olive gabardine slacks, a brown checked jacket and a gold tie. That done, Mr. High settled Dr. Taylor into a cushioned seat, discreetly replacing the wheelchair he has recently required. On this day in particular, Mr. High knew, Dr. Taylor needed to preserve every atom of his dignity.
During his long career, Dr. Taylor led Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, from obscurity to national prominence. He had been one of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s closest allies in the civil rights movement. He had received more than a dozen honorary doctoral degrees, had been named by Baylor University as among the dozen most effective preachers in the English-speaking world and had been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Bill Clinton.
Behind the public figure, though, resided the private man, a mentor and teacher and inspiration to dozens of younger ministers. It was this less visible part of Dr. Taylor that mattered perhaps most within African-American Christianity, where a black pastor is measured by his living legacy, his “sons” and “daughters” in the ministry.
Happy New Year to everyone in TODville! I hope everyone has a healthy and happy new year. Thanks to Maritza’s reminder on the previous thread, I just gave two small end- of-the year donations to both Chipsticks and DonnaDem4Obama fundraising pages for President Obama. I believe 2012 will ring in a lot of Democratic winners in the new year — especially 4 more for 44!
I wanted to repost Donna’s remarks about New Years Resolutions for 2012
Just a few words as the New Year approaches…
We are on the brink of an election cycle unlike any we have ever seen before. PBO will be attacked with outrageous ads from both the Romney camp and out side agencies. We will have to put up our body armor to deflect the vicious distractions that the Repubs will constantly spin. Our wonderful blogger “What is Working” always reminds us that we cannot control what the media will do but we can control how we react to them. These are wise words. So with that said I would like to share some ideas I have been thinking of as “Election Year Resolutions” that we as a community might want to pursue.
1) We have talked about this but have never really formalized the ideas but it would be great to form a media team that pushes back on the negative spin (twitter, emails, phone calls) but it must be coordinated and in great numbers. We would have to have someone take the lead on this. I have been reading comments both here and on twitter over the last month to get a gauge on our viewers and there is a whole crew of supporters who watch every cable show that comes on throughout the day. I believe we can make that work to our benefit. Just as a FYI – President Obama has 11.6 Million twitter followers and 24 Million Facebook followers.
2) Each one teach one ongoing campaign. Every month until Election Day we each commit to engaging someone on the fence or on the other side politically to share successes of the Obama administration and share your story (good or bad) with the blog community as teachable moments for us all.
3) Step out side of your comfort zone. Try and do something for the campaign this election cycle that you have never done before. (Lurkers this is especially for you) One of the things that impressed me the most during my experience in my quest to win the fundraising challenge was the overwhelming number of “lurkers” who contacted me via email after I thanked them for their many donations. There is a huge ‘silent’ majority who support this President and follow this blog everyday. What you have to share is paramount to the success of this re-election campaign. Please don’t discount what contribution you can make to this blog. Share your stories and join us with our online efforts and conversations to ensure the Presidents re-election. We need ALL hands on deck this election cycle.
4) I believe that this blog community can raise a ton of money for this election. Your five dollar donations one donation at a time can help Chips and little ole me to raise tens of thousands of dollars by November 2012. It’s a tall order but as a wise articulate Senator once said: “nothing can stop the millions of voices calling for change”. Yes We Can
5) Believe it or not every one of us knows someone who is not registered to vote. It could be a recent high school graduate, a college student or an older relative or friend that just never registered. Help them register online to vote in their state. Its easy and so rewarding. Once you get them registered commit to be their “god-voter-parent” that ensures on Election Day that they actually get to the polls and vote for Obama/Biden.
6) Last but not least is to commit to volunteer in some way large or small (every effort is important) with OFA. I think that this is going to be the key to our success in 2012. It’s going unnoticed by the media (I’m actually quite pleased about that). The Republican Party has nothing to compare with our grassroots organization. They may have conservative talk radio and Fox news which is in effect their grassroots but a few million volunteers on the ground and online doing everything possible to get people to the polls for this President next year is our secret weapon.
Please think about participating in some of these Election Year Resolutions for 2012. We are a powerful force when we set our minds and actions to it.
My dear TOD family, may 2012 bring each and every one of you exceeding prosperity, vigorous health, outrageous joy, and delicious satisfaction in love and life.
And, oh yeh,… HUGE Democratic majorities in both Houses of Congress, all local and state elections and a blow-out re-election victory for President Obama!
As I have caught up from yesterday I was struck by the number of comments on how “stupid the media” is – Tweety, Unger, VP biden rumors, the list goes on and on. Item #1 in Donna’s post suggests forming a media team
So….. Let’s do it.
I am happy to participate and help with organization. I am hoping Donna could lead us. Donna you have the vision and are an articulate writer who could make sure we are all on message. I hesitate to ask because I know you are uber busy, but if you have the time, we will all pitch in.
Donna – could you send me your email address again.
Anyone who is willing to join in the team please send me an email message at whatisworking@gmail.com
Please, please call your state Democratic Committee and ask what the state-wide strategy will be for overcoming the barriers set by these laws. If they don’t have one, OFA will. We must make sure every registered voter has a photo ID and if not, we have to have clear instructions on how do get one and offer help if necessary. Same is true of every new person we register to vote. In PA there has always been an ID requirement for first-time voters and the state has always made it hard to vote. We will have to work very hard to make sure that we don’t let these new suppression techniques work.
i have lived in different states and have always voted. Here in Oregon we get mail in voting ballots. I like it the best. When I was in Alaska I went to a precinct to vote. Mine was the firestation. When we went to the table to sign in our name was already on the rolls and we had to sign our legal signature under our name. It was already there. I believe I showed my drivers license the first year and after that they knew me there. I also remember having a voter registration card I got when I registered to vote with my signature on it that was sometimes used to compare with the signature on the roll. Besides Oregon, and Alaska I have lived in WA, MA, CA and IL. When I lived in CA, MA, and IL I was still a resident of Oregon because my husband was in the military and we both voted absentee ballots.

Enjoy the payroll tax break while it lasts
By Steve Benen
Last week, after a needlessly-contentious process, Congress approved a two-month extension of the payroll tax break. As part of the agreement, a conference committee will try to come up with an agreement to extend the cut through the end of 2012.
I’ve been rather pessimistic about the likelihood of success, and yesterday, the odds got worse.
The Senate Republican leader announced Friday that he had chosen three of his colleagues to try to thrash out a bipartisan deal on payroll taxes, unemployment benefits and Medicare.
The three Republican senators will join four Democratic senators and 13 House members on a conference committee wrestling with the issues, which tied the Senate in knots for more than two months.
The newly named Republican conferees are Senators Jon Kyl of Arizona, Michael D. Crapo of Idaho and John Barrasso of Wyoming.
These aren’t three senators you’d appoint to a conference committee if you want to be constructive. These are three senators you’d appoint to a conference committee if you want to be destructive.
Then we are just going to have to make a lot of noise about Republicans killing the middle class. If they want to play games, they need to hear a large and sustained noise from all of us with lots of reminders that this is an election year and the wrath of voters will be harsh. I am so sick of these dweebs.
Hi Donna, I haven’t spoken to you in a while. How are things going where you are? Would you like to share my snow with me? I’m feeling particularly generous today.
Thank you for your wishes and for your videos this past year. May you have a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous 2012! God bless!
My dear Alice, you can have all of mine, I made it through the winter to date with my winter coat open and no show to shovel, but it seems like two days or so ago the snow and real cold decided to put in an appearance. Shoveling snow is a real pain for me, and today’s kids don’t need to earn money for odd jobs anymore. Ah well! I shouldn’t complain. It is winter after all.
Obama campaign offers to sell Romney’s son a birth certificate mug
By Alicia M. Cohn – 12/31/11 11:16 AM ET
President Obama’s campaign would be happy to sell Mitt Romney’s son a birth certificate mug from the president’s campaign store.
Romney’s son Matt joked Friday that his father might release his tax returns when Obama releases his birth certificate.
The campaign tweeted from Obama’s official Twitter feed: “Mitt Romney’s son thinks President Obama should release his birth certificate. Guess he doesn’t have one of our mugs? http://OFA.BO/N13uCf”
The mugs read “Made in the USA” under a photo of Obama, and included a replication of the president’s birth certificate.
Look at all the gorgeous video footage of the past year!
I cannot imagine any of the teapublicans in such an inspiring light. No matter whether they put their candidate on a chair, on a motorcycle, in a pick-up truck, in a cornfield, on a bus, on a stage, or anywhere else — no amount of propping or primping will make any of these clowns into a champion.
Happy New Year everyone. From my heart to each and every poster and lurker, I wish for all of us more prosperity, more better health, more peace, more blessings, more love and more than enough. Thank each and every one of you for just being and sharing your wisdom, facts, humor and love to all of us here. Chipsticks, I can never say it enough, thank you for the labor of love you bring to us each day, it is truly appreciated, welcomed and needed. Much love everyone!
Excellent news! Thanks for sharing this story WiW. We must never forget that so many of our veterans have serious emotional and physical issues when they come home from war; far too many turn to drugs and end up homeless and go without the support they need to help them return to spiritual and emotional wholeness. I’m so glad to see this issue being addressed.
Reminds me of this very poignant clip from the best television show ever.
I especially like Toby’s response to the President’s question at 1:49. I agree completely.
“I am involved in the re-election of President Barack Obama because I believe in his philosophy of working to create the highest quality of life for all citizens. ”

Mitt Antoinette
By Steve Benen
It’s a campaign tactic that’s been around for a long while, but Mitt Romney seems eager to perfect it: identify the candidate’s most damaging flaws, then project those flaws onto the candidate’s rivals. This week offered a classic example.
Mitt Romney on Thursday sought to portray President Barack Obama as out of touch with the struggles of everyday Americans — a charge he himself has often faced — by comparing the president to a former French queen who was overthrown during the French Revolution.
“When the president’s characterization of our economy was, ‘It could be worse,’ it reminded me of Marie Antoinette: ‘Let them eat cake,’” Romney said, referring to the infamously dismissive remark toward the poor attributed to the queen.
As Jon Chait noted, this is “in keeping with his favorite method of deflecting attacks.”
Romney anticipates his greatest vulnerability, then peremptorily lobs the charge against his adversary. That way, when his opponent uses the charge it’s repetitive.
Romney first deployed this technique against New Gingrich. He has deployed a furious assault against what was briefly his chief adversary, painting him as a flip-flopper who has wavered on abortion and even supported health care reform in Massachusetts. Gingrich was left stammering helplessly in response. After sifting through the charges and counter-charges, all the Republican voters knew was that you had two candidates accusing each other of flip-flopping and trying to help sick people get health insurance. The natural next step is to open his general election campaign by portraying Obama as a callous aristocrat.
Accusing President Obama of being an out-of-touch aristocrat will really be effective when Mitt runs those ads of the President surrounded by his grinning band of outsourcers as currency spills out of their shark suits. Then they can run clips of the President insisting that corporations are people and casually making a bet of $10,000 that was too exorbitant for Rick Perry.

America – if you want to protect habeas corpus then DO two things on 6 Nov 2012: Re-elect #PresObama & Elect Massive #s of Dems to Congress
And, just to be sure:
Our4thEstate Bobfr
America – if you are concerned about ‘indefinite detention’ & habeas corpus you now have a stellar reason to re-elect #PresObama & DITCH GOP
Happy New Year everyone and the President has, once again, strategically not only crushed the GOP he’s provided an enormous contrast between his protection of Americans and the disregard for basic legal rights that characterizes the GOP.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TOD Family!!!!
Not much planned today. I got a chance to really go thru this site and it’s awesome. Joined attack watch and re-watched the Presidents speeches. They are better the third and forth time around Could you add the President’s smack down to Paul Ryan Medicare Plan and Republican Caucus Speech & QA in Baltimore, Maryland. I have links if you need.
The Contact tabs – media and congress – is a one stop handy reference. Thanks for including because I will be contacting them in the new year. My personal ‘press on’ push-back – let no lie or misinformation go without rebuttal.
“The administration also pushed Congress to change a provision that would have denied U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism the right to trial and could have subjected them to indefinite detention. Lawmakers eventually dropped the military custody requirement for U.S. citizens or lawful U.S. residents.
“My administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens,” Obama said in the signing statement. “Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation.”
I don’t know that the President could be any clearer. He is unequivocally on record as saying that his administration is against indefinite military detention.
I want to wish everyone here a happy and healthy New Year. I’m planning on going to a Gen44 South Jersey Obama for America Campaign kick-off reception on January 3rd.
Wishing everyone a very happy 2012 — including the re-election of President Obama and the election or re-election of as many Democrats as possible at the federal, state and local levels.
The right’s new target: Girl Scouts?
By Steve Benen
Conservatives’ antipathy towards the Girl Scouts has generally been found on the fringes. In 1994, for example, James Dobson’s Focus on the Family published a memorable attack on the Girl Scouts, insisting the group “lost their way” after the Scouts made a religious oath optional for membership. (For the religious right, faith shouldn’t be voluntary; it should be mandated on children by authority figures demanding vows of allegiance.)
I can’t find it online anymore, but back in 2005, Amanda Marcotte had a great item about various paranoid voices on the right, complaining about “radical lesbian feminists” having taken over the Girl Scouts.
In general, most of the American mainstream ignored all of this, and the Girl Scouts were not caught up in the right’s culture war. But just over the last few days, conservatives’ hostility seems to have reached new heights.
The right-wing media closed out 2011 by attacking the Girl Scouts of America for, in the words of Glenn Beck website The Blaze, publishing a book that “refers young readers to Media Matters for America as one of the primary sources for debunking lies and deceit.” Fox News led the charge, devoting more than 15 minutes over two days and three programs to the GSA’s “liberal ideology,” including its purported ties to Planned Parenthood.
It was a quite week for these attacks. The cast of “Fox & Friends” told viewers the Girl Scouts have a “liberal bias”; a co-host of Fox News’ “The Five” called the Girl Scouts’ book “indoctrination”; and CNN contributor Dana Loesch not only lamented the “moral decline” of the Girl Scouts, she also suggested conservatives should stop buying their cookies as a form of political protest.
That photo is hysterical. Also, I’m thinking somebody in the audience should tell Santorum that the “sweater vest” over the quite large mid-section is not a good look for him. That is all.
Someone commented that Santorum is so conservative he doesn’t even buy sleeves. I’ve never seen him in anything but sweater vests—-I’m not a fan—–he must think they make him look presidential. Wrong again.
Oh, and I’m trying to remain positive for New Year’s Eve, but would somebody please also tell Newt’s wife that “helmet head” hair is not a good look for her, either. That is really all! I’ll try to be good.
On to 2012! May we all have the strength, dignity and generosity to keep up the good, hard work ahed, and to not let our spirits flag. We have each other, and PBO has us! Thank you for welcoming me into this family!
Happy New Year TOD Family! It’s been a great year for The First Family and TOD. Wishing you, your families and the Obama Family as well, much joy in the year of 2012. See you all next year!

Romney claims Obama will be a ‘footnote in history’
Posted by
CNN’s Kevin Liptak
(CNN) – Mitt Romney chose to ignore his GOP rivals at an event in New Hampshire Saturday, opting instead to issue a sharp line of attack against President Barack Obama.
Romney, who is running well ahead of his competitors in the Granite State, said Obama would be remembered only as a “footnote” in history.
“I was asked yesterday by a reporter how the president would be remembered in history,” Romney said. “I said as a footnote in history. We have major challenges and he hasn’t dealt with them. We have a debt problem. What’s he done about it? Made it worse!”
Even if Obama were to lose re-election next November, he will have made history as the first African-American elected president.
…………………………………………
Speaking about Obama, Romney painted the incumbent as someone without the skills required to improve America’s stalled economy.
“I don’t think he’s a bad guy, I think he’s overwhelmed and over his head,” Romney said.
“I was asked yesterday by a reporter how the president would be remembered in history,” Romney said. “I said as a footnote in history.”
Romney and his son have tin ears.
The President who gave the order to eliminate the mastermind behind the worst terrorist attack on American soil is not going to be remembered as a footnote. The President who presciently delivered a speech in Cairo to the Arab world called a “New Beginning,” which preceded the historic Arab Spring is not going to be remembered as a footnote. The President whose candidacy became a cross-generational global phenomenon is not going to be remembered as a footnote.
Romney doesn’t know how to attack with guile, subtlety, respect or humor. He’s so desperate to be President he’s going nuclear already.
He needs to watch the old clips of Bush 41 when he ran against Bill Clinton. Three moments ended his Presidency.
One when he looked at his watch during a townhall with voters. Was something there another engagement more pressing than a direct conversation with the American people?
Secondly, when this happened:
“A woman in the audience is given the opportunity to ask a question to the candidates. Her question is as follows: “How has the national debt personally affected each of your lives? And if it hasn’t how can you honestly find a cure for the economic problems of the common people if you have no experience in what is ailing them.”
George Bush starts answering the question on a general national level. He starts to mention the different interest levels before stopped by the moderator. On a personal level, Bush finds it very difficult to create an answer that will please the audience member who asked and American public who are struggling financially on a daily basis. He mentions his concern for future generations in his family, but has trouble relating the recession to his own personal life.”
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you Chips and TOD Family for 2011. I never would have made it without all of you. Happy Anniversary, Jennifer.
My prayer is that we will go all go foward together to re-elect this wonderful President in peace, grace, style and humility. Let us emulate his character and integrity as we search deep within us that this is “Our Season” to make a change, be a change and encourage, enlighten and educate others whether they ready or not ready for this shift. It is going to happen whether agree or disagree with it or not.
This President at this moment in time, is a visionary that has awaken and stirred some things in us that we may never feel again. And personally, for me is hard to explain. I am committed to work hard, pray and fast for the President and all of you here, stand strong and do not give in or compromise when the going gets rough. We can do this together! We must ! The foundation has been laid and the stage is set.
Let us see ourselves the 2012 Inauguration meeting and greeting each other under the TOD Family banner. We are winners already because we have a great President who has represented us so well for fours years and for that I am grateful and proud. Four more years will be bitter sweet. Because I do not want this experience to end. One thing for sure is that we will be stronger and better human beings. I have no idea what any of you look like on this blog…..and you know, it does not matter. I respect your views even if I do not agree with them. But I feel the love and mutual respect which I attribute to this audacity of change and hope that we as a country so desperately needed.
I am off to donate tonight to all three donations…..not much but with more love than you can ever imagine.
CNN has No shots of the crowds at these republican events.
A good crowd is not 200 people!
But, if the President gets less than he had in 08, say in at Louis- when he got 100k+, if he only gets 75k in 2012, the msm will say -Obama is losing support and people are not enthused.
Bet?
Anyone remember in the GE last time when McCain and Obama had rallies McCain’s rallies never showed the audiences and the reporters acted like they were huge. When we saw Obama’s they were huge. I gauged by the faces behind the speakers how big the audiences were. If the faces were large instead of really small I could tell there were not that many people there. That was always the case with the GOP crowds. It made me wonder how the polling could be correct when it showed McCain ahead.
We will get a better idea as the time goes along. I know it is important that truth is out there for people to know and that the voting is not suppressed.
Oh the irony: Newt Gingrich calls politics a ‘nasty, vicious’ business
===============================
Freshly knocked off the perch where he was certain he’d be the Republican nominee (thanks to the evils of unlimited corporate money injected into campaigns … ahem …) Newt Gingrich — yes, the Newt Gingrich — has taken to weeping publicly about his mom and ruminating on the nastiness of politics. Seriously.
From ABC News:
In an interview with ABC News, Newt Gingrich accused his Republican opponents of lying in their negative ads and offering “no hope they will be any good as president.”
“Politics has become a really nasty, vicious, negative business and I think it’s disgusting and I think it’s dishonest,” Gingrich told ABC News aboard his campaign bus in Iowa.
Of course, Newt only believes that when the nastiness and viciousness is directed at Newt Gingrich. …
Will CNN, msnbc and fox give the same coverage to the President when he starts to campaign?
I will be watching on Tuesday, in Ohio, if all three cut him off after five minutes…
Iran Could Be Big Story Next Year
by BooMan
Sat Dec 31st, 2011 at 01:58:36 PM EST
I’m finally done fighting with my brand new Christmas smoker. I got it up to temperature and it’s smoking a 4lb. brisket. Now I can get back to blogging. One thing I feel is likely to come to a head in 2012 is the situation with Iran’s nuclear program. I’m pleased to see that new sanctions and threats of even more sanctions have finally brought Iran back to the negotiating table. The invasion of Iraq freaked the Iranian government out for a while and they stopped working on a nuclear weapon. At least, that’s what our intelligence community concluded, much to the neo-cons consternation. But it appears that they started it again once it became clear that we were bogged down in Iraq like a dinosaur in the La Brea tar pits. As Iraq marks today as a new national holiday, signifying the official end of the U.S. occupation, Iran can no longer count on America’s overextended military for protection. They can threaten to close the Straits of Hormuz, but they can’t think they’d be able to do it with impunity or that America would be stretched thin by their response.
The Obama administration does not want a military conflict with Iran, and it may not need one to stop Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon.
Top negotiator Saeed Jalili has said Iran is ready to rejoin EU-led talks with major powers on assuaging Western concerns over its nuclear programme even as tensions with the United States soar in the Gulf.
“We will give a resounding and many-pronged response to any threat against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Jalili told Iranian diplomats gathered in Tehran in comments reported on Saturday. But both he and other officials left the door open to resuming long-stalled talks led by European Union foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton on Western concerns over Iran’s nuclear program me.
“We officially told them to come back to the negotiation based on cooperation,” Jalili said.
Hope this isn’t a duplicate post, because I kinda got kicked out.
Turned to CNN, which I had muted, and they are covering Romney in Le Mars, Iowa. Or it could have been Le Pluto. Anyway, the audience seemed to be in Le Stupor.
Chips, your last video included a song I’ve just downloaded to my MP3: “Rule the World” by Take That. Never heard of them before, but I loved the song. *hums*
Keeping the focus on Romney’s tax returns
By Steve Benen
Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry expressed some interest in Mitt Romney’s elusive tax returns last week, and the Democratic National Committee is trying to keep the story going this week.
For those who can’t watch clips online, it’s a 40-second video noting that every major Republican presidential candidate in the post-Watergate era — and if we go back a little further, this includes George Romney in 1968 — has released their tax records. Mitt Romney, at least for now, refuses.
In releasing the video, DNC National Press Secretary Melanie Roussell explained the likely rationale for Romney’s reluctance: “It would show that on the millions of dollars in income he enjoys each year, Mitt Romney pays a lower tax rate than teachers, fire fighters, police officers or other middle class wage earners. Mitt Romney will tell you that it’s not required by the law that he release his returns but when he’s advocating for policies that benefit the wealthy and the well-heeled, voters have a right to know what conflicts he might have with his own finances.”
Thanks rikyrah~ I think it’s a Good Ad. It also reminds the American People what a bunch of scammers the gops were whether they released their tax returns or NOT. Wonder if nixon did?
HAD A SUPER LUNCH AND DINNER TODAY WITH MY OBAMA SISTER AND HER HUBBY. OF COURSE ALL WE TALKED ABOUT WAS PBO AND I SAT THERE AND ENJOYED THE LOOKS I GOT BECAUSE I WORE MY ‘O’ SWEATSHIRT. IT HAS A GREAT PHOTO OF THE PRESIDENT ON THE FRONT. I ENJOYED EVERY BIT OF MY ‘RUBBING IT IN’ TIME IN KKK LAND!
I love my Obama navy sweatshirt from the Obama store, speaking of sweatshirts. It’s got a retro look, real comfy and soft and like the way it fits—-actually flattering for a sweatshirt. Just ordered some more stuff. Such as—button for me and extras for my purse so when anyone comments, I say, “Do ya want one?” And they say, “Sure”. And I say, “Here ya go”. And they say, “THANK YOU!”
I like to do that too, or I will take off the one I am wearing (not my bling, tho), and hand it to them, which is a terrific feeling, and people are incredulous, they put in on right away, smiling and feeling proud!
Chips…I watched the MOV…from Pete…is there a way you can send it to me in an email…I have the rights to post video on newsvine blogs. I would love everyone too see how much our President is relating to us but on a more important note….people in every picture are in AWE of him.
Don’t forge to donate before mid night….GOP has big corporate doner’s….Dems…it is just us.
Chips dear I wish you and your Mom the best the coming year can bring.
Man I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone virtually. This has been a tail wind of a year for Obama supporters and I’m looking forward to getting to work to help re-elect him again.
Stay safe tonight and I will be lifting a glass of champaign to you all tonight.
MIDLAND, Texas — A man was detained Saturday after trying to go through a security checkpoint at a Texas airport with explosives in military-grade wrapping, federal and local officials said.
The man was stopped at a security checkpoint at the Midland International Airport about 9 a.m. and taken into custody by the FBI, they said.
FBI spokesman Mike Martinez declined to say whether the man was in military uniform or how many explosives were found in the bag. He said he did not know where the man was being held, saying he was at either the airport or at the FBI office in Midland.
City of Midland spokeswoman Tasa Watts said she had no information on the suspect but the explosives were wrapped in military-grade wrapping. She said the specific grade won’t be known until the explosives are tested.
The Transportation Security Administration issued a statement saying one of its officers spotted a suspicious item in a carry-on bag during X-ray screening. It said the checkpoint was closed for about an hour while officers investigated and removed the item.
Watts said the man was entering a terminal when he was stopped, and a sweep was done to clear that terminal before normal operations resumed.
Want to add my Happy New Year greetings to our Chips Mommy and all the great people here! So thankful for all of you and all you do to fight for President Obama. Here’s to a fantastic 2012—-with lots of determination and perseverance toward a successful election outcome. We will not fail.

Ron Paul’s staggering obliviousness
It’s top-down ahistorical hornswoggling like Ron Paul’s, or, in his case, just historical ignorance, that so often feeds, perpetuates and I daresay even consecrates America’s bottom-up stupidity. Paul’s is the dullard’s choice of demagogic sincerity: It is important to note that not all demagoguery comes in the form of deliberate misrepresentation; some, like Paul’s, is populist quackery straight from the uninformed heart — and to the broadly unenlightened, nothing appeals like the clean, radiant integrity of the alarmingly unenlightened.
At this all too obvious point in the prolonged, blood-curdling pratfall known as the Republican presidential contest, slamming Ron Paul with further evidence may seem superfluous. But what the hell. Here he is, speaking to an Iowa audience on Wednesday, observing that “In many ways, I identify with both groups” — the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street — which “are just tired of it all”:
I think it makes my point. There’s a lot of people unhappy, and they’re not so happy with the two-party system because we have had people go in and out of office, congress changes, the presidency changes, they run on one thing, they do something else. Nothing ever changes.
That string of stunning fatuities, indeed, makes my point.
In a customarily squalid re-advertisement of Republican indifference to intellectual integrity and human decency, John Boehner’s spokesman told the NY Times:
Americans expect their elected leaders to work together to boost job creation, even in an election year. Divided government can be challenging, but that’s no excuse for [Obama] to put his presidency on autopilot when so many Americans are looking for work.
That statement, as you might have guessed, was in tailored response to the president’s announced re-election strategy of: I’ve had it with the wretched Republicans. Haven’t you?
Ron Paul’s principles and Glenn Greenwald’s duplicity
Saturday, December 31, 2011 |
Posted by rootless_e at 11:12 AM
Glenn Greenwald: Whatever else one wants to say, it is indisputably true that Ron Paul is the only political figure with any sort of a national platform — certainly the only major presidential candidate in either party — who advocates policy views on issues that liberals and progressives have long flamboyantly claimed are both compelling and crucial. The converse is equally true: the candidate supported by liberals and progressives and for whom most will vote — Barack Obama — advocates views on these issues (indeed, has taken action on these issues) that liberals and progressives have long claimed to find repellent, even evil. [..] He has institutionalized the power of Presidents — in secret and with no checks — to target American citizens for assassination-by-CIA, far from any battlefield.
This is the bill Ron Paul introduced in Congress in 2001.
The President of the United States is authorized to place a money bounty, drawn in his discretion from the $40,000,000,000 appropriated on September 14, 2001, in the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Re- covery from and Response to Terrorists Attacks on the United States or from private sources, for the capture, alive or dead, of Osama bin Laden or any other al Qaeda conspirator responsible for the act of air piracy upon the United States on September 11, 2001, under the authority of any letter of marque or reprisal issued under this Act.
Yeah – they look super pumped, fired up, ready to go! That crowd is WILD! I think that’s the most worked up I’ve ever seen a crowd at any political event in my lifetime. Our President could take some lessons….
While at the gym today I had warm fuzzy feelings about the TOD community.
Chips, thank you SO SO much for making this wonderful community where we can be positive, supportive, and excited about our wonderful President! It’s so great to have this safe haven. I know I can always find the truth here when the media spreads their nonsense.
Another thing I have to comment on is how caring everyone is here. Its so heart warming. When anyone is down or has something to celebrate, there’s always support available.

Last Call

This week’s “Obama is DOOOOOOOOOOMED” article comes from CNN, where commentator Brad Chase accuses the President of ignoring the youth vote…and in turn, America’s twenty-somethings will completely abandon the Democrats and stay home in 2012 unless the President tackles the student debt crisis.
The sobering reality: just 55.3 percent of Americans between 16 and 29 have jobs. And earlier this year, Americans’ student loan debt surpassed credit card debt for the first time ever.
Rather than develop a lasting initiative to help young unemployed Americans, the President launched “Greater Together” – a campaign tool that offers community forums rather than jobs. Rather than provide a bailout to those crushed by the burden of educational loans, his student debt relief program was pathetic – only reducing interest rates by a measly 0.5 percent.
He missed the fact, college Graduates have a 4.7% unemployment rate. And the Republican House and Senate will not allow any of this. So, his answer , is to vote Republican! Huh?
They conveniently leave this out in order to smear him.
Has this guy ever heard of Congress?
Is he aware of what happened in November 2010 and that from 2011 the House and Senate Teapugs have stymied every initiative and attacked student loan reforms and tried to roll back the assistance given in the bill signed alongside the Affordable Care Act ?
Does he not think that the policies in the Affordable Care Act have helped those 26 and under with Health Insurance and jobs re not having to be hostage to a type of job or application because of health care?
He dismisses what the Prsident did this year by Executive Order but he could not do more because Congress would not pass his Jobs Bill or any portion of it. Dah…..
MASON CITY, Iowa – The events start when they’re supposed to. The candidate says what he’s supposed to. The staff does what it’s supposed to.
To watch the Mitt Romney operation in action is to see Swiss precision applied to the campaign trail and it helps explain how he finds himself contending for victory in Iowa, a state he ignored for much of the campaign.
I tell you there is something wrong with this guy. Off script, he loses it. He has a nervous tick that he works hard to keep in check. He will be exposed in due time. He can’t do spontaneous.
Matt Viser of the Boston Globe reports that during a campaign stop in Le Mars, Iowa this afternoon, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney promised to veto the DREAM Act if it ever passed while he was president. Romney’s promise to veto the legislation is merely the latest escalation in a campaign that has already been marked by extreme anti-immigrant rhetoric from Romney and his fellow Republican candidates. A Pew Hispanic Center poll released earlier this week showed Romney losing Hispanic voters to President Obama by a 3:1 margin, far worse than John McCain did in 2008.
MIDLAND, Texas (AP) – A man was detained Saturday after trying to go through a security checkpoint at a Texas airport with explosives in military-grade wrapping, federal and local officials said.

93-Year-Old Tennessee Woman Who Cleaned State Capitol For 30 Years Denied Voter ID
A 93-year-old Tennessee woman who cleaned the state Capitol for 30 years, including the governor’s office, says she won’t be able to vote for the first time in decades after being told this week that her old state ID failed to meet new voter ID regulations.
Thelma Mitchell was even accused of being an undocumented immigrant because she couldn’t produce a birth certificate:
Mitchell, who was delivered by a midwife in Alabama in 1918, has never had a birth certificate. But when she told that to a drivers’ license clerk, he suggested she might be an illegal immigrant.
Thelma Mitchell told WSMV-TV that she went to a state drivers’ license center last week after being told that her old state ID from her cleaning job would not meet new regulations for voter identification…
This story may have been posted, but it’s worth posting again b/c it plainly shows what we are up against in 2012.

President Obama’s home beer brewing operation at the White House made global headlines in 2011, after it was first reported here on Obama Foodorama that the White House chefs are the only ones in history to try their hand at hopping Presidential brews. There were more headlines when the President shared homebrew with Medal of Honor awardee Dakota Meyer in September, during a get together on the evening before the ceremony…”
“We’re continuing to make beer,” Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives Sam Kass told Obama Foodorama.
To date, there have been three kinds of White House beer brewed, all using honey from the White House Beehive, the first to ever be on the grounds: White House Honey Ale was first served at the President’s 2011 Super Bowl Party, when 90-100 12-ounce bottles were made using about a pound of honey. Meyer was served a different version of homebrew, White House Honey Blonde Ale. There’s also been White House Honey Porter brewed, which was ” unbelievably good,” according to Kass.
Hey, seems like UTALib has gone to ‘Tahiti’ on Christmas vacation! Or maybe she’s in Hawaii? I don’t remember spotting her signature exuberance in the past couple days. Well, I sure hope she’s having a good holiday wherever she’s at.
CHICAGO — Darkness was beginning to envelop the city of Chicago late Friday afternoon, but at President Obama’s reelection headquarters the vast open room that houses the campaign staff was still packed with workers.
Jim Messina, the campaign manager, said there would be no New Year’s weekend passes for his army.
“Iowa is Tuesday,” he said.
Messina was referring to Iowa’s precinct caucuses, but not those drawing all the media attention — the ones that will start the process of selecting a Republican presidential nominee. Democrats, too, will be caucusing Tuesday night, and the Obama campaign views the gatherings as one more opportunity for organizing in a state they expect to be among the many that will be fiercely contested in November.
Happy New year Chips and the entire TOD Family!! I love that I found this site. You guys teach me so much and you make me look like I know what I’m talking about when I talk to people when I actually am reapeating everything you all said.LOL!! I just made my donation on Chips page. I look forward to 2012. I am ready to do everything I can to get the President re-elected.
So Linda – you’re probably not around any more but i finally looked back to see what was going on – it looks like you’ve created local news stories for people that have put in their state locations to you. How’d you do that? That’s amazing! So we should share these with our local news media?
At the offices of Mitt Romney, who has built a ground organization aimed at matching the intensity of his television advertising barrage, aides are methodically analyzing data on each voter to create the perfect pitch: those worried about illegal immigration, for example, are invited to join a conference call with a border county sheriff in Arizona.
Hi all. It is 2012 here in the UK so from ’2012′ HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Just got back from our friend’s house where we had a great time. My friend is also an Obama supporter and wishes him well for the election she has even offered to take my son to school for me on election day as I will be staying up all night again. I guess I may already have told you what happened on election night 2008, we stayed up waiting for the results and it was 4 am here when it was called for President Obama. my husband had just gone into the kitchen to make a drink when it was announced that he had won and I screamed at the top of my voice “YESSSSSS!!!! HE’S IN!!” Obviously we knew what I meant but a couple hours later when I went out to the car my neighbor was just leaving for work and gave me a strange look and smiled, saying “You must have had a GOOD night last night – or were you pleased with the US election result?” He had stayed up watching too but couldn’t resist being cheeky. We often converse about PBO’s achievements in office and he is at a loss to comprehend the media’s treatment of him.
Thanks everybody! It is so sucky. Thank goodness I have an amazing husband, but life is going to be tricky during the next few weeks or months. Having a little one who recently turned two adds to the trickiness. It could be worse certainly and I will try to stay positive while figuring out this new unexpected situation. Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot. By the way, I was in NH for the last few days. It was weird to see all the republican signs all over the place…especially since I know none of them will even have a chance against PBO! . Love you guys.

happy New Year, Everyone!
Happy New Year everyone!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! A perfect 2012 is my wish for you all, too. An exciting, happy and motivating year for us all.
Oooo! I have 4 grands but no great grand yet. You do have something to be happy about.
Here is baby new year-

We survived the Republicsn House. Thanks to the President, for getting us through a crazy year!
So true!
Thank you Jovie for all that you bring to TODville. Happy New Year mon ami
Which can’t come soon enough for me!
Happy anniversary, Jennifer. Forty four is a good number!
Also Jovie, the baby new year doesn’t come up for me — anyone else have trouble?
I wonder if somebody can get the video of Rudolph and baby new year?
44th! Good sign
Happy Anniversary! Ours is on Monday…might as well get everything over at once! Our 31st….crazy!
Jennifer–Happy, happy anniversary! How cool to be married on New Year’s Eve–the whole world celebrates with you. Forty four’s a lucky number–for all of us.
@ Jennifer . Happy Anniversay!

Too cute! Thanks for all the good wishes – now off to take a nap to see if I can make it to midnight this year for a change!
Congrats Jen. 44 is a SPECTACULAR number!
44th is definitely a good sign, Jennifer!
CONGRATULATIONS to you & Mr. J! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ May you enjoy many, many more years together!
Wishing you both an OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!
You betcha!
Nice! Thank you, Chips…thank you family

Barack Yo’ Body!
What hip action in these dances!
OH, NO! No more happy hours in Utah?? Sorry, Joan
Utah, desertflower, is the land of the dinosaurs don’t you know.
Love Iman Crosson, Todrick Hall & the Dancers in Barack your Body-Rock Your Red White & Blue! Thanks, maritza!
Apparently, now it’s Mitts turn. He started talking about his patents and got very emotional, but he said he will not cry!
Tears are not good for people made of tin unless you have lots of oil cans standing by.
And he looks phony as hell, given it’s the very day after Newt shed tears and got some good press for it. Romney is always the phony copier.
MSNBC & Bain are bed.
I keep saying the very same thing. Something is “off” with him. He’s too fake, everything he does seems too contrived. I don’t think there’s a genuine bone in his body.
Ugh, Jovie, that is truly awful. A very bad move. He’s just underlining his phoniness and sealing it with an exclamation point!
He’s the Manchurian candidate.
If we feel his phoniness just imagine how would world leaders ever believe anything he said?
MSNBC’s ties to Bain I hope will be exposed by the Dems. No way are we going to allow that FRAUD in the Whitehouse.
AMEN! PRESS ON to a PERFECT 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy and fully blessed New Year to the TOD family.
♥ ♥ ♥ Good Day Chips! Good Day TOD Family! ♥ ♥ ♥
Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
Happy New Year, Everyone!
Happy New Year PJ.
There you are! Someone(sorry, I can’t remember who it was) was worried about you! Happy New Year, yardarm!
It was eveingeorgia wondering about you…wanted to know you were alright
I’m okay df. i let my skivvies get bunched up yesterday and had to put myself in the “Time-out” corner. I forgot that I started out with nothing…and I still have most of it left. I will endeavor to hold my peace in the future. Happy New Year back atcha!
So glad that you’re alright
I missed the dust up, but I did see the apology from hopefruit…a family spat…hug and make up. We all must have one another’s backs…that cruel world out there can get us sometimes….but we need to have each other. Happy New Year. Better days ahead:)
Amen to that!
LOVE YOU, YARDARM!!!! Life is too short, let it out!! I look forward to your “saltiness”
Happy New Year, and here’s to a WONDERFUL 2012~~~
Happy New Year, Good Sir! ♥ ♥ ♥
Yardam glad to see you back. I know something I posted yesterday was hurtful to you. My sincerest apologies.
Except in certain locations
.
In any case, the young have it so i must let it go. The new year is rapidly approaching and i will celebrate being on the right side of the grass for 71 years. BE BLESSED!
Same to you — Be blessed, too!
Apology accepted. Tomorrow is a new day and a new year and a time for new thoughts. Peace be with you.
yardarm, Emmitt was a neighbor.
Peace………….age 70 and holding strong. lol
Happiest of New Year to you, PJ!

You can’t imagine how many times you have added a touch of humour to my days here.
May 2012 offer you your greatest heart’s desire!
Right back atcha, vcprezofan2! I feel it: 2012 is gonna be a GREAT year! ♥ ♥ ♥
Happy New Year to everyone who frequents this site. I’ll be back for my daily repreive.

Happy New Year to Ms Chips and all in the TOD family. May 2012 be a prosperous, fulfilling, rewarding, thriving and pro-active year. By the way it is a leap year which is said, round these parts, to mean fertility, all things blossoming and blooming, richness and abundance.
I like the sound of a leap year.
Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and your loved ones!
Sounds wonderful. That means it was a leap year in 2008 and look how productive we all were. Bless you, ladyjazz.
Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said Thursday that imposing sanctions on Iran would be an “act of war,” according to ABC News. He added that threats by Iran to block a key oil route over potential sanctions would be justification.
–
Whose side is he on?
Makes you wonder, huh?
May Peace & Joy prevail!
Wonderful. Thank you for the help. We’re going to need every moment of volunteer goodness in the coming year. We Will Prevail.
What a generous offer. I am sure OFA can use you. Where do you live? and what is the nearest swing state? Maybe we could hook you up with some folks on this blog who live near you and could use the help.
Happy & Prosperous New Year WiW and Tien Le!
Thank you
‘I tried to apply to volunteer on OFA website but they ask for a zip code’
So did I earlier in the year with the same results.
I also checked out Democrats Abroad in hopes of helping the branch closest to me, but apparently they only accept contact/help from American Citizens!
Hi. I tweeted an OFA worker in New Mexico.
Here was the response I received:
On a personal note: Joyce, thanks so much for your desire to help us. This is one of the many reasons why I love our neighbors to the north of us
Last time around during the GE Campaign the Headquarters in Chicago had a phone number that had actual people answering the phone.
I had a very sore throat after that,……
{{ChristiMtl}} – Chin up!
Bonne Annee a toi et a Canuck J!
Oh, Chips – SWEET.
BE IT RESOLVED:
TO RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA AND VICE PRESIDENT JOSEPH BIDEN to a second term of office in the United States presidential election on November 6, 2012.
4 MORE FOR 44
{{{{Happy New Year to everyone in TODville!!!! I look forward to your company in the years ahead.}}}}
Amen to that.
Happy & Joyful New Year to you meta. I know you from way back on OFA (2008) and I’m grateful for your commitment to PBO.
Hey, Joyce!, nice to see you here. Hope all is well. Looking forward to a big scramble on the ground this year.
Looking forward to it too as I’ll be joining you on the ground this time. See my post above.
I second the motion. Resolved! *slams gavel, Pelosi-style*
Right on!!
I’m all for that!
Friends…..I broke my radius bone up by my wrist! Such a complete bummer! This does not feel like a good start to 2012.
That is a real bummer!!! Hope it gets better fast.
((((((loving and laughing)))))) ~sending healing vibes~
So sorry to hear about your injury. Chalk it up to 2011. We will all help heal in 2012 by re-electing President Obama and giving him a Democratic Congress he can work with.
Hope your radius knits back together quickly!
Oh, noes…..but it’s still 2011. 2012 will bring the healing! Be well soon, friend.
Oh, LAL! That sucks. I’m sorry. That’s a total bummer, here’s hoping the rest of the new year only gets better.
Oh, OUCH. But it’s good you can still type!!
So sorry to hear that
Typing must be fun…..hope it heals quickly and you feel good as new!
So sorry LandL. That really is a bummer. May 2012 bring quick and smooth healing for you.
Ouch, I hope it gets better soon!!
Very sorry to hear that.
thanks everybody!
So the aide holding the rickety chair he was standing on the other day was a “meticulously stage-managed Romney event”? Perhaps it was. Intended to create a little excitement so the crowd would watch breathlessly to see if he would fall off of it. Otherwise, without rickety chair events they would all snore through his lies — I mean speech.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1211/70977.html
You mean the “Fool on the Stool?” Snorefest is right. ” And for my next trick!…. I’ll cry like Newt!”
LOL @ “Fool on the Stool!” Love that term df
Perfect, don’t you think!
Yes we can!
Yes I’ve noticed the depressing lack of diversity, and also the depressing body language and facial expressions on those non-diverse crowds.
Absolutely!!!
Has everyone else also noticed that nobody ever appears to even be smiling, when they come out to witness the tragedies that are the Republican candidates in Iowa?
Thinking of President Obama’s campaign crowds just makes me smile more!
Happy New Year to all here who keep me sane everyday. May 2012 bring you glad tidings and all of us a stunning Obama victory in November.
I second that sweetbay!
I third that. Happy New Year and thank you TOD for brighteneing up my day. I really appreciate you so much xxx
Hi Sam UK. Hope all is well with you and yours. Have a wonderful 2012!!!!! HZ
Happy Four More Years Year.
Love you, Chip.
Happy New Year TOD Family!
I wish you Love, Health, Happiness, Peace and Blessed Abundance for 2012!

Thanks Chips… I am loading it on to media player.
Can you add Hey for 2011′s final moments?
Bet we didn’t hear THIS on the news…
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/31/karzai-welcomes-bidens-taliban-not-our-enemy-remarks/
Happy New Year Sam! Enjoy your night out with friends
Looking forward to seeing you here in 2012.
Fired up and ready to go!

X 2, Sam. Hope your dad, son & the rest of the family also have a great 2012!

In a stark illustration of how last year’s landmark Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance has created powerful new channels for outside money to influence elections, the negative onslaught is the work of a group called Restore Our Future.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/31/us/politics/restore-our-future-attack-ads-harm-gingrich-in-iowa.html
Health and happiness to the TOD family in 2012!
Thank you, Claire, and accept the same wishes for you and your family! May you achieve your dreams in 2012!
I told you they were amateurs.

Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1211/70976.html#ixzz1i8wVIUMI
Obama backers already have formed a super PAC of their own, called Priorities USA Action.
http://www.newser.com/story/136535/romneys-super-pac-is-destroying-gingrich.html
Negative ads may work fine when it comes to Gingrich, but they will fail when it comes to our President.
Luckily, we have Bill burtOns group to fight back!
Happy New Year Chips and the TOD family!!!!! Love the videos, great way to end the year!!!

Good Morning TOD family
We are a powerful force when we set our minds and actions to it.
thanks WiW!
Yeah Baby!! Press On in 2012!!
WiW…did you get my email yesterday pointing you to the link for the site that tracks voter ID laws? If not, here’s the link again: http://www.ncsl.org/default.aspx?tabid=16602
got it thanks
Thanks for that….It is interesting that my State, Georgia, is one of the 8 with “strict photo id” laws.
I have NEVER been asked for my id when voting.

These are three senators you’d appoint to a conference committee if you want to be destructive.
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2011_12/enjoy_the_payroll_tax_break_wh034436.php
Exactly! Captains and lieutenants of the Turtle!
Then we are just going to have to make a lot of noise about Republicans killing the middle class. If they want to play games, they need to hear a large and sustained noise from all of us with lots of reminders that this is an election year and the wrath of voters will be harsh. I am so sick of these dweebs.
This seems like a good idea for consumers

Happy New year Chips and everyone at the Obama Diary!
Thanks for making 2011 a Baracktastick year.
May God bless you all and your families.

Hi Donna, I haven’t spoken to you in a while. How are things going where you are? Would you like to share my snow with me? I’m feeling particularly generous today.
Thank you for your wishes and for your videos this past year. May you have a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous 2012! God bless!
can we have some of your snow? we don’t gots any. I can’t believe it’s almost January and there is no snow!
My dear Alice, you can have all of mine,
I made it through the winter to date with my winter coat open and no show to shovel, but it seems like two days or so ago the snow and real cold decided to put in an appearance.
The mugs read “Made in the USA” under a photo of Obama, and included a replication of the president’s birth certificate.
http://thehill.com/blogs/twitter-room/other-news/201855-obama-campaign-offers-to-sell-romneys-son-a-birth-certificate-mug#.Tv9acPl0JgY.twitter
Those mugs are gonna sell out. Better get more elves in the factory!
Thanks for your good wishes, Sankofa, and may your 2012 be good in exactly the same way. Happy 2012!
Thanks vcprezofan2………

Excellent news! Thanks for sharing this story WiW. We must never forget that so many of our veterans have serious emotional and physical issues when they come home from war; far too many turn to drugs and end up homeless and go without the support they need to help them return to spiritual and emotional wholeness. I’m so glad to see this issue being addressed.
Reminds me of this very poignant clip from the best television show ever.
I especially like Toby’s response to the President’s question at 1:49. I agree completely.

At this point, anything’s possible.
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2011_12/mitt_antoinette034439.php

HAPPY NEW YEAR TOD Family!!!!
Could you add the President’s smack down to Paul Ryan Medicare Plan and Republican Caucus Speech & QA in Baltimore, Maryland. I have links if you need.
Not much planned today. I got a chance to really go thru this site and it’s awesome. Joined attack watch and re-watched the Presidents speeches. They are better the third and forth time around

Oh, There’s my comment! Oops!

BTW, half of the CROWD are photographers or “NEWS-PEOPLE” – cannot call them journalists!
Martz, that’s too funny. POTUS. I forgot how to post tweets here so they show up that way? Right click on lower left date?
Then I copy the url that appears and paste it here.
Wrong again is right!

“I don’t think he’s a bad guy, I think he’s overwhelmed and over his head,” Romney said.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/31/romney-obama-a-footnote-in-history/
Romney is a one trick pony….and always so nasty.
He mentions his concern for future generations in his family, but has trouble relating the recession to his own personal life.”
http://campaignrhetoric.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/1992-richmond-town-hall-debate-melanie-modula/
And lastly, when Bush came off as a snide bully when he called Clinton “a failed governor of a small state.”
Romney doesn’t know how to woo us. He’s got a lot of money. No charm. No style. No conversation.
And a whole heap of condescension! – “I don’t think he’s a bad guy, I think he’s overwhelmed and over his head,” Romney said.
And Romney will not be remembered in history at all! Not even a footnote…. After 2012, no one will even remember his name.

Thanks for your words, LDS and a very Happy 2012 to you!
Happy New Year Team Obama !!!
2011 has been quite a year with lots of ups and downs. Let’s re elect Barack H. Obama.
Love you guys.
Oh the irony: Newt Gingrich calls politics a ‘nasty, vicious’ business
===============================

Turned to CNN, which I had muted, and they are covering Romney in Le Mars, Iowa. Or it could have been Le Pluto. Anyway, the audience seemed to be in Le Stupor.

Wonder if nixon did?
one of my favorite clips from Love Actually:
Yay! One of my favorite Christmas movies!
Mine too. One of the best movie soundtracks ever!
Omg!! I love this movie! Been waiting for it to play on tv all this Christmas. Still haven’t seen it
Comcast had/has it On Demand in their Holiday Movies Collection.
Dot! that is a great idea! I’m going to do that!
Happy New Year everyone.
Chips dear I wish you and your Mom the best the coming year can bring.
Man I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone virtually. This has been a tail wind of a year for Obama supporters and I’m looking forward to getting to work to help re-elect him again.

Romney’s strategy: Occupy Obama
In a customarily squalid re-advertisement of Republican indifference to intellectual integrity and human decency, John Boehner’s spokesman told the NY Times:
Americans expect their elected leaders to work together to boost job creation, even in an election year. Divided government can be challenging, but that’s no excuse for [Obama] to put his presidency on autopilot when so many Americans are looking for work.
That statement, as you might have guessed, was in tailored response to the president’s announced re-election strategy of: I’ve had it with the wretched Republicans. Haven’t you?
The Times frames it a bit less colloquially:

Oh good grief!!!

Last Call
Posted by Zandar
More here: http://zandarvts.blogspot.com/2011/12/last-call_30.html
He missed the fact, college Graduates have a 4.7% unemployment rate. And the Republican House and Senate will not allow any of this. So, his answer , is to vote Republican! Huh?
They conveniently leave this out in order to smear him.
Or vote Ron Paul who wants to abolish the DoE. Ha. So funny.
Stay home and see what they get. It’s their decision. I’m voting.
Brad Chase probably has massive student loan debt.
Dah…..
Ugg the ignorance of “journalists”.
Happy New Year to you all wonderful people.
Gingrich says that Romney is a robot-
MASON CITY, Iowa – The events start when they’re supposed to.

Mitt Romney Promises To Veto DREAM Act If Elected

That is so disgusting. I hope the DOJ jumps all over this.

“A Top White House Food Story for 2011: Obama chefs are first in history to homebrew beer at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue…

I meant to post that above in the string. Let’s just say I am having one handed technical difficulties. Best wishes to all in 2012!
