First Lady Michelle Obama at the BET Honors 2012 at the Warner Theatre, January 14
….. with Maya Angelou
(L-R) Spike Lee, Michelle Obama, Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder
Best First Lady of my lifetime. What a genuine, accomplished, high-performance leader she is.
Bobfr, I agree totally.
I go back to Truman, and I agree.
As do I
And … for a little fun …
Fortunately, George Washington didn't #tebow, he just kicked British butt, which is what he'd do to @FocusFamily – tinyurl.com/ammte— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) January 15, 2012
Indeed, Bobfr! WE MUST PRESON!
100% agree Bob.
HOW BEAUTIFUL MRS OBAMA IS…WOW!!!
Lynn, I agree totally.
Lynn, she’s amazing. Imagine being able to look that good. My mind boggles.
Spot on!!! There are no words to describe the brilliance of our First Lady!!
Stunning you beat you! no other FLOTUS in my life time is as beautiful, smart in such a terrific
shape ( Sorry Jackie kennedy you were beautiful as well) , but FLOTUS OBAMA is just amaizing!!!!
Jackie Kennedy was simply gorgeous. Yes, I agree with that (and being a teen at the time, I tried to emulate her look!). But Michelle Obama is so very real, that her beauty is even more precious. She gets more beautiful every day. Amazing.
Also saw a wonderful photo of FLOTUS earlier with Maya Angelou at the event. Two of my favorite women! Maya has been my favorite poet since the mid-80s, not to further give away my age. Ha!
desertflower, I agree totally.
The Mrs. is in great shape. I love her hair and her dress.
Her skin is so lovely…
I agree with all of you about our FLOTUS.
Doesn’t look like an angry black woman to me. She looks like a fly cool, supremely confident and sophisticated lady who is what ‘s happening and people better recognize type woman!!!!
Our FLOTUS can go from hanging out with ICarly and kids, to being on a award show, or hanging with leaders of the world, and she does it with such ease. We are bless to have our President, and we are just as bless that we have Michelle Obama as our First Lady. They are a wonderful pair and we love them, and we will stand against anyone who unjustly attack them. I think that Kantor woman sees that also.
Mrs. O sure likes the one strapper.
The asymmetrical style has been pretty popular. I’m a fan of them too and have several myself.
Wish I could rock it but I feel very self conscious. Plus I don’t have a bra & strapless always feel like it will fall down
Her look is very inspiring though. I did see a top that I liked at Kohls that had one sleeve and the other side bare shouldered. Maybe I’ll pick it up and give it a try.
And the one-strapper loves her! Beautiful skin, great body; lovely inside and out.
halo, there haven’t been anyone to wear the one strapper better, than Mrs. O.
Whoa whoa whoa ya’ll need to settle down. Seriously people, you guys are on pins and needles. All I said was that she likes that design and making an observation.
halo,I’m not on any pins and neddles, all I said is there haven’t been anyone to wear the one strapper better than Mrs. O. Now if I thought you were trying to say something negative, then I would have said is there anything wrong with her wearing the one strapper. No one was going after you for what you said. I wasn’t.
And it likes her, very much, I would surmise! Lovely lovely lady!
It accentuates and draws attention to her upper body which is a really flattering part of her body. She’s pretty all over, but they don’t call them “Michelle Obama arms” for nothing…lol. I swear I think of her arms every day I’m at the gym lifting weights.
I think of her arms every day at about the same time I think of being at the gym lifting weights. I think a lot.
Beautiful photo. Beautiful First Lady. America, we are so blessed. If only we collectively appreciated our blessings. SIGH
Wow she looks hot! I love her so much I cant wait until it airs.
Guys, I totally agree with all you said about our wonderful FLOTUS. She is simply the best.
WOW…not to be superficial, but just on that basis alone (keeping in mind that there are many more important reasons), the fashion industry will see to it that PBO gets at least 4 four more years.
Good point, hopefruit2!
Not superficial to people in that industry hopefruit2. Our gorgeous, statuesque Mrs. Obama has been a huge shot in the arm for the fashion industry over the last 3 years. Dare I call it “stimulus”?
I agree 100% Dudette.
Can you imagine any one of the Republican candidate spouses having a fraction of the kind of impact she’s had on fashion? I sure can’t!
Definitely not Helmet Hair or Stepford Ann.
Hopefruit, that’s not superficial at all. Fashion is serious business!! And from a business perspective, designers have got to love how Mrs. O positively impacts their BOTTOM LINE!!!
The Runway to Win line at the barackobama.com website is already a hit.
Jobs, jobs, jobs!!
That’s a great site isonprize Lots of great stuff there. Robney to follow suit with a “designer” website in 3…2…1
Santorum got there first. He was sporting a Santorum campaign sweater vest tonight, at the Huckleberry event. (Kind of like wearing something that says Over Here. Look at Me.) He looked so fake, I could barely stand it. I then dared to listen to Sarah Palin on FOX and she was asked if she’d buy one of Santorum’s sweater vests. (Political discourse c. 2012) She responded that if the money were going to some girls sports charity, she’d certainly consider it. Huh? The money is going to his campaign, you fool. Just like your campaign money went to you. Fool.
UGH. My IQ dropped a couple of points just reading that. She’s such a fucking dolt.
Alright thats it where is my arm weiights.
Forget that…where’s the liposuction?!
LMAO! I was just about to add that my DNA will only allow me to get so far – even with the weights!!
I’m with you, Hope. DNA, age, height–all stacked against us non-Michelle Obamas. SIGH…
Jackie, we are all beautiful in our own way…
Yes, we are, Pamela! We are all extraordinary people. I’m with you!
LOL! Honestly when she got in the white house. i started paying more attention to what i eat and exercise. i walk 3ml indoors and when i can get out. I was 200pds. im 182pds. my goal is 160pds. i feel so good abt myself my problem is the butt and thighs.
Wow Tulips, I’m impressed. You should write to Mrs. O to tell her what an inspiration she’s been to you. I’ll bet she’d be pleased.
Good job! Keep up the good work Seriously…I think I’ll post a picture of Michelle Obama on my fridge. I NEED those arms!
Congrats on the weight loss.
Tulips more power to you! Congrats on your great progress so far and PRESS ON!
Congrats Tulips on your weight loss. FLOTUS inspires me too. The past few years since she’s been in the WH, I’ve been eating all types of what I call “clean” foods—I can hardly imagine that I’m eating roasted brussel sprouts, parsnips, spinach….anything and everything from the fresh produce section and very little processed foods. Whenever I don’t feel like exercising I think of Mrs. O who gets up still around 4:30 am to work out most days. The weight has been coming off me too—-she really is a great role model. She’s fit and healthy, yet still curvy which I love…..not rail thin. I working on getting more fit, but I’m keeping my curves.
Alright! Tulips, you go girl! Mrs O would be proud to know this!
You go, girlfriend! I am super proud of you for walking! I’m glad you’re seeing some benefit.
Unfortunately, with regards to arms…after a certain age, there is only one way to get rid of that…liposuction. Sad but true. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is the biological imperative behind women having to carry extra weight on the upper arm. If there is a Goddess, my first question for her would be (holding up and pointing to my upper arm) What the hell is this? What were you thinking?
Tulips, that is so beautiful that you feel so good about your inner core that you would share such a beautiful accomplishment with us. I admire that so much. Any good that our President and First Lady have done to inspire other to be there best as well is so emotional to me.
Being that I have seen many Presidents in my lifetime, I must say that this President and First Lady have touched so many young and older people all over the world to enjoy the joyful and beautiful things about their lives. I love that about both of them.
I am not putting down any President or First Lady in our past, but I am so grateful for the new technology that we can see instantly the wonderful events where our POTUS and FLOTUS make such wonderful inspirational moments come alive in so many lives.
This is a FLOTUS who can wear fashion that speaks to so many beautiful ladies inside and out. The food intake of beautiful healthy food awareness has also been such a wonderful inspiration to millions. These are the positive, good, and wonderful things that the young and old can look at immediately and converse in a positive and gracious manner, and that is a good thing. I love it when our POTUS and FLOTUS focus on the good of a person’s heart and enjoy the pleasure that all of this brings to so many in our nation while he is in the WH.
This, Mr. President gives us another reason to make sure that you and our lovely First Lady, VP Joe and Dr. Biden will continue in 2012. We will be dressed in our “lovely and handsome” bests come Jan.20,2013!!!!!!! Love my TOD Family and my Chips. ((((((Love you))))HZ
Fantastic Tulips, good on ya! Butt and thighs? Don’t want to talk about it
Chips, you and TienLe are making me laugh too hard right after dinner!
GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Way to go.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/14/obama-romney-republican-feuds Many juicy nuggets in here…they are eating their own and doing the work for PBO’s campaign….no complaints by me!
The Patriots are dominating this game. 7-27. It’s boring compared to the Niners-Saints game.
Until Tebow learns how to throw a football consistently, they will never beat a team like the Patriots.
This is like how politics is going to be post President Obama. Boring as hell.
So true, unless one finds Mark Warner (D-VA) or Martin O’Malley (D-MD) or Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), who are all good people, or someone similar exciting. Never mind.
So I am not the only one thinking that my governor, O’Malley is going to be a strong contender in 2016? It is written in the tea leaves.
I love what I see and hear about O’Malley. I also think that he will be someone to really give a serious look at for 2016. HZ
That makes three of us then. By D.C. standards, that qualifies us to be a panel of pundits. Or gaggle? Coterie? Whatever the group term!
No you are not..almost everyday I tweet Governor O’Malley about running in 2016. I think he is being groomed for it. He is also an excellent Barack Obama surrogate..he defends him no matter what.
Read My Comment: No Mario Cuomo.
Bill – I read your note to imply that Warner, O’Malley and Cuomo aren’t exciting. If that’s what you meant, I definitely agree about Warner and Cuomo, but O’Malley’s genuine smile and unassuming manner and support for the President and intelligence reel me in! I’d listen to him all day!
Halftime – 35-7 Patriots. Five touchdowns in 2 quarters.
I guess God is busy with the poor and suffering around the world.
A thought has been bothering me for awhile so I thought I would throw it out there:
Suppose Ron Paul is really laying the groundwork for his son, Rand, to run in 2016? He would come with the identical platform. He has 1000s of volunteers and contributors. When PBO wins in 2012 they will have the foil of how Romney failed and what he would do differently. I think Ron Paul will stockpile the money from this campaign and be ready to support his son. What does everyone think about this?
Re-post from last thread. Would really like some insights.
Not a lot to say to your idea, but certainly would not be surprised…..not at all. Someone on a thread earlier this week threw out Romney and Paul being so “chummy”……maybe a deal of son Rand being chosen by Romney as VP candidate. Possibility also.
Interesting. But I think Ron is really running because he thinks he can be President. He has been pushing this genda for a long time. The only reason he’s getting so much atention is because the GOP is so fractured. And, Rand is not nearly as articulate as Ron. I realize that’s not saying much.
I hope dems is planning now.
I don’t think so..here is why. 1- There are too many A squad folks on the Republican side waiting (Christie, Jeb Bush, McDonnell, Jindal, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, etc) for a one term senator who has accomplished as much as his father (nothing) to come out for the highest office in the land. Secondly, I mentioned this in the last thread..don’t you find it funny that Ron Paul never attacks Romney. Rather, he attacks Santorum, Perry, and Gingrich–which ever one is 3rd. Last time I checked, if you want to win, you knock out number 1-Romney, not the people below you. I think he and the Romney campaign have an “agreement” that Ron Paul would do the dirty work of knocking the others down, while Romney will appear above the fray, and cruise to the nomination. In return, Romney will give Paul a prime time speaking slot during the convention. Basically the third biggest slot (behind the VP pick and Romneys’ own speech). That way Paul can rant for 20 minutes about the FED and the like.
Not to go all conspiracy theory, but it just does not make sense why Paul has not said anything to Romney. In the last debate, Ron Paul went hard after Newt about not serving during Vietnam…but Romney didn’t serve, Romney’s father didn’t serve and Romney’s five sons are not serving.
Maybe Ron believes Willard will appoint him as Chairman of the Fed, and we could have a depression that would make the Great one look like fun.
I think Paul is acting as a place holder to keep the others from being threats to Romney. Similar to Herman Cain’s role. Paul is probably being bankrolled by the same donors that support Romney for the general. Paul will never be #1, but will keep the others at bay – away from Romney.
However I recently read an article that says Paul pulls more support from Romney than he does from Obama. When Paul is on the ballot, Romney drops significantly.
Rand Paul is a mini Ron Paul and talks as crazy as his father. When the country is doing great leaps and bounds beyond recognition into the 21st Century thanks to PBO, no one will sit back and let the Republicans take us back. I am hoping THIS TIME OFA/DEMS will continue to cultivate a Democratic leader to continue PBO’s vision. Whether it’s Elizabeth Warren and other up and coming great Dem leaders out there. I for one WILL NOT SIT BACK AND LET THE REPUBLICANS TAKE OVER CALIFORNIA NOR PRESIDENT, HOUSE, AND SENATE EVER AGAIN. WE HAVE TOO MUCH TO LOSE AS A COUNTRY.
smilingl8dy – Ron Paul even commented from the stage one time recently that his son is coming up right behind him. Both of them think they’re on to something. Trouble with these kind of people is that they keep multiplying. We need less of these fools – not more.
with the re-election of the President …the political landscape could be much different…esp if there is a take back in the Congress….
however….it is hard to predict the future…
That power red stunning dress is “in your face” to all the h8ters out there. Plus she has 302,000 tweeps in just 3 days. Mrs-O is a hurricane sweeping nonentities like Kantor, Tapper, Alaska Grizzly etc. out to sea. Ha!
Predictions anyone? 1 Million by the end of the month, including a nice bump after the President’s State of the Union address.
Colbert will have her on just so he can mock-cry about her besting him for followers, thus providing another bump for her.
LOS ANGELES, CA – President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign receives an early endorsement from the United Farm Workers of America, the nation’s largest and oldest farm workers union, during an 11 a.m. rally on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the UFW’s Los Angeles offices, 4545 E. Cesar Chavez Ave. in East L.A. The rally kicks off a series of union-sponsored events and rallies throughout the nation supporting the President.
“We are proud to endorse President Obama in this historic year during which the UFW celebrates its 50th anniversary,” said UFW President Arturo Rodriguez. “President Obama stands with farm workers and immigrants. His administration is fighting against mean-spirited partisan legislation and gratuitous attacks by Republican politicians against hard-working, tax-paying immigrants who are among the most vulnerable people in our society.”
desertflower, the UFW endorsement is big — and good news that it is coming this early. Their offer support, not only from unions and workers, but look at the lovely diversity on their web site header.
I like the momentum that is building!
Smilingl8dy asked on the last thread opinions on Rand Paul following his father and running for president. I think it may be their plan, but I see Rand as a crazy follower of his father and even more arrogant and unattractive. He has little future on the national scene with the Tea Party having less influence in 2016.
I agree, Bill. For reasons known only to God, Ron Paul’s quirkiness inspires loyalty. Rand, on the other hand, is so bland it’s hard to distinguish between him and a beige wall. I don’t think he would come close to inspiring the same kind of loyalty. And if this country ever moves closer to sanity, Rand’s extremism is going to seem more and more “off.”
Ever see the Tim Robbins’ movie Bob Roberts? I think it gets close to explaining the Paul and/or TP phenomenon. Or served as an instruction manual.

Michelle OBama and Maya Angelou
Ah yes, here’s the Firebaggers’ hero:
I can’t listen to that wack job. What does he say? I really think that he’s got a few boxes in his basement with all the loose screws that fall out as he walks. The elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top, if you know what I’m saying…..
He’s probably watching the Ms. America pageant right now with some nuts, beer, and a stash of weed.
He said he likes to read economic texts at night. Fun guy.
I nearly forgot that. Economics books written with a quill. How fun is he?
Yes, reading economic books written with a quill while guzzling beer, nuts, and working his stash of weed.
And only the ones written by the Austrians which us anti-colonial secular socialists are unable to comprehend.
I thought that it was so the phrase “in the original German” could be used and not have a confusing meaning!
Sure he does…..
Ron Paul and ALL THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES ARE LIARS! I wonder if any of his interviews are fact checked. It was my understanding that all of europes infrastructe is government owned and run.
I stop listening to that dam racists Ron Paul. I think that brain of his has been under to many white hooded sheets. And they might have been tied alittle tie.
Not Ron’s fault! I’m sure Obama put him up to saying that about Warren, since she’s planning to run against Obama in 2012.
Had a good Obama day working with volunteers at four different locations for a county-wide food bank drive at area Giant grocery stores. Except for one store we couldn’t wear our Obama stickers inside the store, but it did build a team spirit and volunteering always feels good. We had plenty of folks to help out and I know they are rarin’ to go for more. Next stop: SOTU parties.
Inspiring, Elly! I used to live in Northern Virginia and just loved Maryland.
Sorry I couldn’t participate–I am out of town so missed visiting my neighborhood Giant. Good for you, the other volunteers, and the folks who gave to help the less fortunate.

Don’t “F” with Tom Brady Or FLOTUS!
TB 5 TDs in 1/2 & FLOTUS over 300k followers 2days
Yes, FLOTUS looks absolutely stunning , amazing, startling, and beautiful…need I say more?
Awesome!!! Go Pats !!!
Btw, Gabrielle Union looks lovely too.
She’s an Obama supporter, isn’t she? Maybe a TOD lurker?
I’m sure Mrs. Siohvaughn Wade would disagree.
Why? Didn’t the Wades break up a while ago? Was there overlap?
Really? I thought he was tom-catting around for a while and for years during an unannounced separation. Looks like Essence has given its imprimatur as them being this year’s face of black love. But I shall segue back to the subject at hand: I can see Gabrielle playing the First Lady in the inevitable biopic.
Oh, I didn’t know.
I think that’s partly why Tavis and Corny are jealous of PBO.
Tom Brady – 5 TD’s in the first half
Tim Tebow – 3 completions
“Focus on the Family” commercial sucks, too. And using those little kids in the commercial is really low….
You are obviously not watching football. Commercial with little kids reciting John 3:16 paid for by Focus on the Family.
Oh that’s right. Didn’t Tebow do an anti-abortion commercial for them?
Yep. Last year or the year before during the Super Bowl. Him and his Mommy.
They ran commercial with little kids quoting John 3:16
I watched it and my mouth dropped open.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!

What’s Race Got to Do With It?
By LEE SIEGEL
Mitt Romney may not have officially clinched the Republican nomination, but his victory has never really been in doubt. Nor has his viability in November: the most fanatical Tea Partiers are not about to withhold their votes and risk allowing President Obama to be re-elected.
Pundits have already begun the endless debate over whether Mr. Romney’s wealth and religion are hindrances or assets. But there has yet to be any discussion over the one quality that has subtly fueled his candidacy thus far and could well put him over the top in the fall: his race.
The simple, impolitely stated fact is that Mitt Romney is the whitest white man to run for president in recent memory.
Of course, I’m not talking about a strict count of melanin density. I’m referring to the countless subtle and not-so-subtle ways he telegraphs to a certain type of voter that he is the cultural alternative to America’s first black president. It is a whiteness grounded in a retro vision of the country, one of white picket fences and stay-at-home moms and fathers unashamed of working hard for corporate America.
In this way, whether he means to or not, Mr. Romney connects with a central evangelic fantasy: that the Barack Obama years, far from being the way forward, are in fact a historical aberration, a tear in the white space-time continuum. And let’s be clear: Mr. Obama’s election was not destiny, but a fluke.
This article raises a good point, and I think that’s also an issue with some on the left as well. But wasn’t that supposed to be PBO’s biggest obstacle to not only winning the Democratic primaries in 2008, but also the general? Romney can throw out how many dogwhistles he wants. The WHOLE WORLD is watching this election – and President Obama has opened a door that won’t be closed again. This is no historical aberration – it’s the face of the 21st century and beyond. We are moving forward. Come, let’s go!
In_deed, the whole world is watching and we are totally committed to moving ever closer to the ideals of the Bill of Rights. President Obama will continue that march and, perhaps, by 2017 Elizabeth Warren will take it further.
Thank you rikyrah & hopefruit.
@MittRomney & ALL infected with the 'white privilege.' 2008 was not an aberration, it was an affirmation of the Bill of Rights. #OBAMA2012— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) January 15, 2012
But wasn’t that supposed to be PBO’s biggest obstacle to not only winning the Democratic primaries in 2008, but also the general?
Yes, that’s all we kept hearing through 2008 was how America wasn’t ready for a Blah president and how the white working class would not vote for him/
The media was wrong on both counts.
I also think Robney’s “whiteness” is not the issue, it’s that he’s just so wooden and uninspiring. What’s there to be passionate about someone who raised billions off other company’s misfortunes? Robney is doing well for himself but watching and listening to him is about as exciting as watching paint dry. And if his main pitch is that he’s a job creator, he’s running into big problems. Once that layer is peeled away, all you really have is some rich guy who has changes positions based on which way the wind blows.
Come, Let’s Gooo
She looks beautiful. Can’t wait to see more.

Hopeful for clean FAA bill!
First Lady Michelle is rocking that RED dress! she looks absolutely radiant and what a beautiful smile. I just love her and Our President sure picked a winner. They really are a fine looking couple together. We are so blessed to be a part of this inspire of the highs and lows.
Sorry….inspite of the highs and lows.
I asked my friend if he supports Ron Paul. He hasn’t answered yet, but he did write the following, which I find very educational about the mindset of, to borrow Angry Black Lady’s term, the Progressive Pauliban:
“The war of ideas will never be won this way. If RP unexpectedly gets the GOP nom, pressure would be on for Barack to shut Gitmo, end war, repeal the patriot act, and so much more. There would be no political disadvantage if the GOP nominee already held those awesome positions. Then the debate could resume to their differences on Social security, labor, and social issues.”
My take on this comment is that it isn’t so much that they want Ron Paul per se; they want a Ron Paul candidacy to force the President to the left. I find that strangely comforting. Maybe because I want them to not have gone round the bend.
Yes, I have seen this stance from a few people on FB. I think if Paul got the nod, they would 100% be behind that lunatic.
I call b.s. on your friend’s reasoning. The president doesn’t need Ron Paul in order to close Gitmo or repeal the patriot act or whatever…he needs Congress to pass laws giving him the authority to close Gitmo. And unfortunately for your friend, the president supports the Patriot Act, so that is that.
In terms of “ending wars” he has set up a situation where we can begin to extract from the mess in Afganistan soon. Only a crazy person, which I suspect Ron Paul is, would just up and leave a situation like Afganistan. So, again, the president doesn’t need Ron Paul to push him left to get us out of Afganistan…he’s doing it, just HIS way. Not as fast as keyboard commandos and twitterers want.
I’m just so over the idea that the president needs to be pushed to the left. Name me ONE thing that is “left” that he has flat out rejected, as opposed to not done because it wasn’t politically possible (i.e. Congress wouldn’t vote for it).
I know this isn’t your position, I just don’t buy the reasoning of your friend.
I don’t buy it either…think it’s completely cowardly and elitist. But now I understand why he’s pimping Paul.
I may have to ask my friend if that’s his mindset, as well.Did you read that piece by Tim Wise I linked for you? LL posted it the other day, and I thought it was right on point.
Yes I got to it from Smartypants yesterday. It was too complicated for me, but made some good points.
I’ll be honest. They scare the heck out of me. I wonder if they have ever faced any economic hardship in their lives that they would be willing to risk the public safety net for the sake of smoking dope and ending a war that is going to end anyway. Ron Paul’s ideas seem sooo radical to me I can’t imagine how any sincere liberal or progressive could be willing to take such a position. I have to believe his followers are mostly young immature men who are in that stage of development where they live mostly in their heads and politics is all theory.
Nope, they haven’t. The moment they start talking “war of ideas,” thus talking theoretical versus practical applications, they show their hands.
I wish they were just the young, undeveloped minds. They are all white, that much I can tell you. Mostly male. Big time entitled. Age range from 18 to 60+; just as many boomers as millennials. I have learned that after a certain age that if a person has not achieved adulthood (say after 45), then they never will.
I have to disagree. My friend is not white…..male, yes. I also read a disturbing blurb over at Daily Beast…telling AA’s the reasons why they should vote for RP. Not going to put that trash here…but you can go over and check it out. The mind reels.
I meant the people in my very very white county, not RP supporters in general.
AA’s will not vote for Ron Paul because he is racist. Even Tavis Smiley and likes of him would not vote for Ron Paul. Tavis maybe crazy but he is not that crazy. Just using him as an example of someone who has spoken against President Obama.
How can the most conservative member of Congress move Pres. Obama to the left? The only reason I would want to see a Ron Paul vs. Barack Obama contest is to debunk this myth once and for all. It makes no sense. They assume that Pres.Obama would not be able to defend his stances on these issues.
How many times does it need to be said or shown? If they want Pres.Obama to move further to the left then give him a liberal majority in the Senate and the House that we had when he entered office.
I’d ask your friend if he knows how the government works and try to get from him what it is he thinks the President has the authority to do and what the House & Senate’s responsibilities are. It is not to demean your friend because at 55yrs old, it just hit me that it is really the House & Senate that we really need to change along with getting PBO re-elected. The Senate took the power away from the PBO from closing Gitmo and the Patriot act has been in effect for over eight years and it has stopped a lot of homegrown terrorist in my opinion. In a way I believe it has stopped domestic terrorist that wanted and still want to harm our president, so as long as PBO is in office I am for the Patriot Act.
except to they understand that Congress is blocking Pres. Obama from closing Gitmo? Also, how do they reconcile Ron Paul’s racist, sexist, homophopic beliefs with what is best for the United States?
Easy…they argue he isn’t a racist, sexist or a homophobe. They are in complete denial.
Speaking of Angry Black Lady, if you want to listen to her on the Hal Sparks radio show: http://www.angryblacklady.com/2012/01/14/i-was-on-the-hal-sparks-radio-show-this-morning/ Highly recommended. She is so wonderful.
I didn’t know Hal Sparks was on the radio!? I’ll have to check that out! You were great ABL.
Me neither. I didn’t know he had his own show. I thought he just came on Stephanie Miller’s show from time to time. I’ll have to check it out.
Catching up after a couple of days of being insanely busy…..I read so many comments and articles in TOD just now, I don’t want to miss anything. All the information I need is here.
After this, I’m going to follow FLOTUS on Twitter…..Yessss! It makes me feel good that she is so loved.
I had a strong reaction reading about the douchebag Chuck Todd…Romney is like President Obama? ….He is the biggest joke on tv….
I can’t stand him,.
I had to google Tim Tebow, I had no idea who he was. I think I saw him once with his mother.
Is there a color that doesn’t suit FLOTUS?, She is gorgeous!…
I just read about Tulips being inspired by FLOTUS about her health….FLOTUS inspired me as well, here is what I did……I thought about it during her jumping challenge.
I have a storage room downstairs with lots of stuff….one thing I have that I never ever use is a rebounder…I don’t know if it’s the right word…a small trampoline?…
So what I did I took the rebounder upstairs and placed it in the entrance…between the living and kitchen….so it is the rule in the house now….to go in the kitchen, we have to jump on the rebounder at least 10 times…….haha I love it….
The entrance is large enough, if someone doesn’t want to do it, they can just walk in the kitchen of course but I always do it now…
My sons are very embarrassed about it….they said to me : Mom its like a circus in here…..lol.
It’s FLOTUS who inspired me to do it!….to jump and move more…..I love her
Following FLOTUS now……303K followers already? Impressive!
I figure that she’ll be at 1/2 million before the weekend is over.
Ha! Yay! She was at 301K an hour ago, still gaining about 1000 per half hour! I love it!
Hey, it’s like a circus in my house without a trampoline. That is such a cool idea!!!
I’m so used to it now, it’s fun
Going into your kitchen sounds dangerous.
lol not really
Food must BOUND out of the kitchen! how cool is that! ChristiMTL can bounce an orange over to the couch and be there before it gets there! Fun with food and people!
ChristieMTL, you keep right on jumping! It is a parents right to embarrass their children!
They go to the gym!….I don’t have time for that….well, ok, I’m too lazy for that is more like it ….after my day’s work and cleaning the house….with 4 animals, a lot of vacuuming!, upstairs and downstairs….I just don’t feel like doing anything.
In my case, it wasn’t a weight issue, it was an energy issue…
So tired at night…
so I had the idea of jumping on the rebounder when I saw FLOTUS…..I can say that my energy level increased…..it works and it’s so easy!…..
Christi, that’s a great choice — the trampoline has all kinds of health benefits! I just grabbed the top two results from a Google search.
Bouncing on a mini-trampoline may not be your idea of a strenuous aerobic exercise and it may not strike you as having significant health benefits, but, in fact, both are the case. Rebounding, as this form of safe, gentle, no-impact exercise is commonly called, burns more calories than jogging.
Trampoline bouncing also can strengthen your heart, improve your circulation, stimulate the flow in your lymphatic system, help slow the effects of aging, revitalize vision, reduce stress, and benefit children with learning disabilities and cystic fibrosis. (With regard to stress: Transcendental meditation has helped me make marked improvements in not only my health and behavior but all aspects of my life. I highly recommend you look into it ….
…This busy network [lymphatic system] circulates soldier cells to fight infections, filter bacteria, and eliminate parasites and debris from your body. Rebounding is considered to be one of the best forms of exercise to activate the lymphatic system….
….With rebounding exercise on a mini trampoline you are using the forces of gravity, acceleration and deceleration to strengthen every cell in your body, without applying traumatic stress impact to your muscles, tissues and joints…
Yes a lot of health benefits!
AND you can bounce healthy fruits and veggies to the couch!
Rebounding, as this form of safe, gentle, no-impact exercise is commonly called, burns more calories than jogging.
Say what now?
thanks so Much Chips…Our First Lady looks Regal…:-)

The following is a statement from Mayor Bloomberg on President Obama’s recently announced plans for government reform.
“I couldn’t agree more with President Obama’s call to vastly increase the Federal government’s ability to merge overlapping and duplicative agencies and deliver better services at the same or less cost to taxpayers. In New York City, we’ve implemented more than a dozen mergers affecting more than 30 agencies and offices across the City. The positive results – from public health and safety to education and economic development – could not be clearer. For instance, it used to be that the teams that helped individuals find jobs and the teams that helped entrepreneurs create and grow small businesses worked in entirely separate agencies. By merging them together into our Department of Small Business Services, our Workforce1 Career Centers have gone from only helping 2,500 New Yorkers a year find jobs to a record 35,000 job placements in 2011.
“Today more than ever, our country today needs the President to have the same powers to do more with less than every President from Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Ronald Reagan had, and I commend and thank President Obama for making the case so clearly today.”
so sayeth Mayor Bloomberg.
ugh…can’t stand him, to tell the truth.
DUNCAN, S.C. – The vote totals from Iowa’s caucuses are changing, putting Mitt Romney’s razor-thin victory in the unofficial tally in doubt, people familiar with events said.
The totals reported just after the Jan. 3 caucuses gave Mr. Romney a narrow, 8-vote win over former Sen. Rick Santorum. Now, officials are reviewing the vote as part of a certification process. Whether Mr. Romney will hold onto his win remains unclear, these people said.
“The numbers are changing,’’ Mr. Santorum said late Friday, in an interview at a campaign event here.
“We’re hearing good things,’’ he said. “It’s still up in the air.’’
His people are hearing “good things?”. Um, have they never met their own party? Box of votes in the back of a closet time!
congratulations to Miss Wisconsin, MissAmerica 2012. After what that state has been through–and still has to go through–should be an uplift.
The Lady in Red … wow! She is stunning!
Newt Gingrich battles with crowd at black church (Columbia, S.C.)
Jobs might help children in poor neighborhoods develop strong work ethics, earn some money and potentially “slow down the dropout rate and give young people an identity within the community and a desire to go back to school,” Gingrich said, defending a proposal he’s come under fire for on the trail.
“Good response,” the African-American man who asked the question said as Gingrich finished up his answer.
But not everyone in the crowd was so amenable. Minutes later, an African-American woman asked him if his views of minorities changed after he traveled the country with the Rev. Al Sharpton a few years ago to encourage cities to develop charter schools or if he is still “a racist and a bigot.”
“What I’ve said is that we want everyone … to be able to use English and be able to rise in the whole country,” Gingrich said as the woman interjected again, reading a quote about “lazy ghetto black people” that has been misattributed to the candidate.
The woman persisted, asking Gingrich how he could refer to Obama as a “food stamp president,” as he often does when campaigning, since Obama graduated at the top of his class at Harvard Law School.
Love this woman whomever she is for taking it to Newt.
Someone need to tell that AA man that Gingrich haven’t said anything AA people haven’t said. We do want jobs in our community, we want our kids to stay in school and stay out of jail. Don’t Newt come here in our community once and answer afew questions and think he has done something. This country was, is going through a hard time, people were losing jobs, then we had those national disasters, and people were struggling, they didn’t know how they were going to put food on their table, Is Newt saying our President shouldn’t have made those food stamp available to the people. Then Newt would be going around talking about people going hunger. So to heck with Newt.
New post everyone:
2mins until it’s official Tebow—sucks!
I agree Tebow the quarterback sucks, but the human being seem to be a nice young man.
I can’t believe she is 47 and popped out two kids. Her body is SICK!
itgurl_29, FLOTUS does looks real nice. It’s clear to see she exercise, and it’s paying off. She take care of her body. FLOTUS will be 48 Tuesday Jan. 17th and she don’t look a day over 35. Gosh I am so proud of our lovely First Lady.
Thanks for the new pictures, can’t wait to see the show, please don’t let me forget when it comes on.
First Lady Obama looks FABULOUS.
FLOTUS is STUNNING!!!
How many women in her position would assist an elderly lady, no matter who it is. They would point for some assistant to come out of the wings and help Ms Angelou into her seat. Not withstanding MO’s loveliness, graciousness and elegance, one has to appreciate her respect for her elders, something the president also shows. This is how we teach out children, by example!
