What an absolutely amazing video. Happy Bday to the bestest, most beautifulest first lady evahhhh.
No but seriously, whenever I am feeling down and overwhelmed, I just think about her. What she went through to get where she is. Michelle LaVaughn Obama….Happy Birthday :)
SHE MAKES AN AWESOME DIFFERENCE. IS MORE ACTIVE THAN ANY FIRST LADY WE HAVE HAD IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND SHE DEEPLY CARES ABOUT EVERYONE. HER ‘LET’S MOVE’ CAMPAIGN HAS DONE WONDERFUL THINGS FOR OUR CHILDREN AND HER LOVE FOR THE MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES IS FELT THOUGHOUT THE WORLD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FIRST LADY!
Through more tears, what a beautiful and touching moment in history to have your precious mother, loving brother, and outstanding and loving husband to allow us to have a part of such a beautiful woman, our First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Oh, Mrs. Robinson has to be so very grateful and so very proud. Happy Birthday, First Lady, Michelle Robinson Obama. I am so blessed to be living to wish you this happiness. May you have many more, and especially 4 more in the White House as our First Lady.HZ
WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO MICHELLE…INDEED…HER FATHER IS WATCHING! HAPPY BIRHTDAY DEAR FIRST LADY AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES FOR THIS COUNTRY. IT IS NOT EASY LIVING IN THE FISH BOWL THAT THE WHITE HOUSE CREATES FOR YOU!
Your luminous and loving presence in the White House does honor to our country. We need you and President Obama to keep leading us in the path of righteousness. Happy Birthday!
Sam here, Bob. As a 67-year old, I’ve sen a lot of them and our FLOTUS is the most loving and genuine with people. Eleanor Roosevelt was a great woman, but, though her heart was in the right place, she could not exude warmth. MIchelle has it all.
Amen to Bobfr and Jackie Grumbacher. I am also in this wonderful group, and I have seen some very wonderful women as our First Lady, BUT none have presented us with the grace, the lovely personality, the natural sweetness, the geniune hugs of caring, and the heart of so much compassion, and the intelligence to handle her position all around the world with such grace. What a gift. HZ
Happy Birthday Mrs. Obama. Thank you for your realness, compassion, empathy and for sharing your husband with us for the greatness of this country. We will honor the trust you placed in us to “have his back” by working, supporting and donating to his re-election this year. Thank you for being the secure and strong woman needed for this journey. Enjoy your day and the next 4 birthdays in the White House, we respect, admire and adore you!
First Lady Michelle Obama, We love you, we respect you, and we thank you. And we’ve got your husband’s back and yours too. May the good Lord continue to watch over you, your husband, your family, and may he bless you with many, many, many more happy birthdays.
Logging in this morning reminded me that it is one of my brother’s birthdays today too. I always give him his bday gift when I see him at Xmas so struggle to remember to call or email him a birthday greeting. This was an excellent reminder. I sent my greeting to Michelle on the email notice for her card.
Happy ,Happy Birthday First Lady Michelle Obama who has brought empathy, passion, caring , love, sharing beauty and a sense of family to the USA and the world.
Thank you.
I just want to share something that I think is really important and something that I think the TOD family and all PBO and Mrs Obama’s supporters should think about and mobilize.
I just recently had an encounter with a PBO supporter who expressed this disappointment and kept saying he did not see what had been done.
He is not alone and I have seen many posts saying the same thing.
Having seen the Andrew Sullivan interview, read the ongoing insightful comments of BWD on the failure of the PBO political team ‘s messaging , I think she is right.
I think that David Axelrod and all the persons in the political people in the White House, the DNC, Debbie Wasserman-Schulz and the Chicago political team need to be bombarded by us to say that yes, negative ads against Mitt Romney et al are good BUT the story of the BO Presidency needs to be told to the public in a big way.
Alongside any attack ads, there needs to be a blitz about the LONG list (yes LONG list) of things PBO has accomplished with a Democratically controlled Congress. All the things don’t need to be highlighted but then independents and Democrats will hear of the hundred/two hundred things done that may/might benefit them. The ads could highlight some og
f the big things and then say that you can visit whitehouse.gov or some other source to see a full list. This needs to be a mainstream effort. Too many Democrats and independents DON”T know what this administration has really accomplished and they need to.
PBO’s political team may have been busy staffing up, setting up offices etc but they have to get out now and get the message out and fight these reprehensible Republicans with their catastrophically backward and dangerous proposals and the lazy, unworthy journalists.
We should make our voices heard (in a nice way ) and let PBO’s team know.
Their is a nefarious campaign from the left against this President.
Michael Moore, Smiley and West, And the PL, that just works consistently against allowing the Presidents Team to get his message out.
First, that has to be addressed. Maybe talk to all of them and air out differences.
Otherwise, you will have the Hippeees looking for an alternate route.
They want something! Obviously!
While it’s true that many people don’t know the list of PBO’s accomplishments, it’s also true that there will be some on the Left who don’t care for PBO, the man. They are either single issue or have unrealistic expectations without fully understanding how our government truly works. It’s an odd and dangerous mix of idealism and cynicism. We can only hope that providing a list will help to persuade them but there will be some who cannot be reached.
You nailed it about some not understanding how our government works. My pet peeve is that the number of Americans who don’t know basic US government 101 is astonishing. The interview with Andrew Sullivan was amazing because he actually got a little bit of that in the interview when he said that President Obama is not a magician or a dictator. He has to work within the confines of our government Constitution. There is just so much he can do from the executive branch. It infuriates me when people talk as if congress does not exist. The blame for anything that’s not getting accomplished in Washington seems to always be President Obama’s fault. Meanwhile, we have three distinct branches of government with distinct roles and responsibilities. I would love to sees an initiative where there was some focus on educating the public on the basics of how our government works. It more Americans really understood how our government is supposed to function, maybe the light bulb would go off and they would see that the reason there is so much gridlock is because the actions of the Republican Party (obstructing, filibustering, delaying, hostage taking) has rendered the government dysfunctional.
Exactly, meta! We can also refer people to WhiteHouse.gov, which in my opinion is underutilized as a resource tool for information about what has been achieved.
Another source which pertains to President Obama’s accomplishments is the comprehensive list of achievements that was compiled by Milt Shook, which updated on a regular basis. It includes actual links within the article so that individuals can see that what has been said is accurate.
WhatISWorking has been tireless in her efforts to provide a database packed with valuable information. Another underutilized resource tool that we have available to us.
At the end of the day it’s up to ALL OF US to get the information out there. Whatever your feelings on the matter, the truth is that this administration can only do so much! Rather than throwing stones at the President and/or his administration for “poor messaging,” “not responding to MSM bias more aggressively,” or “not doing enough on X, Y,” we should be asking what else can WE do to ensure that the general public becomes informs and proceed from there!
We have the information we need and we have the numbers (prag blogroll and lurkers ) to make it happen. WHERE IS OUR RESOLVE AND DETERMINATION TO GET IT DONE?!!
Here’s the excerpt and link to the article that I mentioned:
One of the most irritating things I hear these days is the idea that President Obama is really no different than Bush, or that he’s a “disappointment.” Both of those characterizations are flat ignorant. If you truly believe that, you’re in serious denial, and you can’t be paying very close attention. In fairness, perhaps you were in a coma for the eight Bush Years, and if so, I forgive you. But please join the real world. So far, this president has done most of what he said he would do if elected, and he’s not even through his first term. Imagine what he could have done by now if we supported him, and gave him a Congress that doesn’t look at him as if he’s the demon seed. What follows is a PARTIAL list of Obama’s accomplishments so far. Unlike many such lists, there is a link to a citation supporting every single one. The first section alone should make them sit down and shut up:
You can also check out this site, which includes @miltshook’s list, filled w/all sorts of pertinent info: (It will be updated, again, this Spring 2012 by @Shoq and Team #owiki. And, it’s located on TOD’s sidebar.—> ;) )
I would also add that WE are the message carriers. Sing it out to everyone you meet and never let a comment like, “I don’t know what he’s done,” go unchallenged. When you start listing PBO’s accomplishments and show your enthusiasm, it’s amazing how people back off.
When someone tells you they are disappointed in President Obama here is my response.
It’s unfortunate you are disappointed. Perhaps from your view point it looks like Obama betrayed working people.
From my perspective, he rescued the country from a Great Depression, saved the auto industry, passed health care reform, strengthened financial oversight, ended the war in Iraq, ended Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, reversed eight years of anti-labor and anti-environmental regulation, expanded student aid to millions of young people, made the largest investment in clean energy in our history, and started enforcing our civil rights laws again. And this all in the face of hysterical opposition from the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans.
Have I gotten everything I wanted when he was elected? No. But that’s not how a democracy works. So rather than give up hope, I’d encourage you stay involved and keep working with like minded folks to bring about a fairer, more prosperous America.
This is the mistake that all his opponents keep making - thinking that he’s not doing anything. We are not close enough to the general to be spending money on ad blitz’s and the Obama campaign is doing more than staffing and opening up offices. If the campaign isn’t talking to people how do you explain the turn out in Iowa? or his rising poll numbers? or the thousands of events and hundreds of thousands of phone calls and door to door visits? I see push back and listing of O’s accomplishments all the time. Anytime you hear someone say they don’t know what Pres.Obama has done stop fretting and use it as an opportunity to send them to barackobama.com or to twitter or to Democrats.com. TienLe, created cards that we can print out and give to people like your friend.
I think some of you are also missing Andrew’s point (Andrew missing it also). He says the left doesn’t understand Pres.Obama’s long game or that he’s thinking way ahead of the rest of us and we tend to get frustrated by thinking he’s not doing enough of this or that . Yet I’m seeing more and more of you getting panicky and demanding that Obama’s team do something, anything NOW!
THIS!!!!! Thank you for expressing so well how I feel. Hardly anything was reported on his Iowa turnout and organization by MSM. If we’re always in panic mode from day to day we will tire out quickly. We need to stay steady for the long game.
If people choose to be willfully ignorant that is not PBO or his team’s fault. Think about it, those of us on this blog know of his accomplishments and I am certain we are no different than your friend. Have they ever sought out information on PBO’s accomplishments or are they waiting for a phone call from the President himself? Do they have access to a computer? Can they read? Do they even want to know what PBO has accomplished? Sorry for the sarcasm, but I am just not impressed or moved by these kinds of statements from people who probably should know better.
L3, I’m with you, everyone has made some great points, but to those who talk of being disappointed, I want a list of what he hasn’t done. Don’t say to me he hasn’t done anything, tell me what it was you wanted him to do. And we can talk from there.
PBO to give acceptance speech Sept. 6 outside at 74,000 seat Carolina Panthers stadium:
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/01/17/2933423/obama-to-accept-at-stadium.html#storylink=cpy
On the final night of this fall’s Democratic National Convention, President Barack Obama will deliver his acceptance speech at Bank of America stadium, party sources told the Observer on Monday night.
Convention officials are expected to announce the venue this morning at a news conference at the stadium. Two party sources say the decision to use the stadium was made months ago.
The president will accept the nomination Sept. 6. So far, organizers have said only that plans call for holding the convention at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Not just that though. BOA tried to stick us with that ridiculous fee last year. Initial optics just look weird if your campaign will be about income inequality. We’ll see whether it plays a role in Sept.
Sadly, we have a BoA hall which used to belong to the University of Washongton. Perhaps they sold the former name to finance the renovation of the stadium, which was falling down. Don’t like the new name…
Jovie- Luv the amazing links you report in with ,but please quit reporting the constant polls. Good grief, isn’t one of the house rules no constant downers? Thanks in advance.
Did Fox News ever study math at school! Even my 11 year old knows that 45 and 57 add up to more than 100!!! Gotta pity them though, not only can they not cope with the fact that PBO is President and has a good chance of regaining the presidency but they are dumb to boot!!
Could you provide a link? That way we can actually see their reasoning behind their so-called grade? What grades they have given to previous presidents?
I went on their website, and while I don’t have all the facts, I view with a side eye the sudden drop in grade from B in the previous two years to a C- in an election year. They provide their justification and all but I am still skeptical - those grades (and justifications) are highly subjective. I will now be looking more closely at sources of their funding/donations.
If you have voter suppression laws pending, but not passed in your state, it’s not too late to act. I have heard that some legislatures are balking at the cost of implementing the suppression laws and don’t want to be accused of wasting money in an election year. Money complaints resonate with Republican reps and certainly with tax payers, so start calling and writing LTEs about the expense of these suppression tactics. In PA there have been exactly TWO voter fraud cases since 1982, which means the problem is non-existent. Find out your state’s history and start making noises about the way legislatures are spending dollars irresponsibly. Holder’s speech yesterday about our obligation to expand, rather than restrict, voting was good and needs to be distributed far and wide. But even those who could care less about fairness and justice, don’t like it when their legislators overspend. So let’s press some hot buttons. Some of the states that have already passed the suppression laws are being challenged by the Justice Department, so let’s hope that gives other states pause about proceeding further. If the laws are on the books, then we have to deal with the consequences by helping our voters get the appropriate IDs. If they’re “pending” we have a chance to kill them and limit the damage. Let’s do it.
If the laws require voters to pay for their ID, it is a poll tax and can be challenged legally. However, if local offices impose a fee, people will have to be knowledgeable about the fact that the fee is illegal and fight it. This puts a lot of onus on the voter, who has to make the effort to go to wherever the ID is issued and then know enough to argue about the charge. There is so much potential illegality and cost involved in these proposed laws and so much disruptions of current systems that many legislatures might pull back on passing them. That’s why we have to keep making noise.
Morning Jackie & TODville! Wishing all TODvillians, around the world, a great day!:lol:
This post from yesterday, even if previously shared, fits right in here…
“So, here’s one small thing you can do. Support Rep. Keith Ellison’s effort to raise awareness about this disenfranchisement campaign by signing on as a supporter of the two bills he is introducing:
The Voter Access Protection Act and the Same Day Registration Act will:
- Ensure that no American citizen is denied the right to vote because they don’t have a photo ID on Election Day
- Ensure that all Americans will be able to register to vote on the same day they cast their ballot
Give your support to those two bills and then you can do something even cooler. On Monday Jan. 23rd at 8:00PM EST Democracy for America will host a Telephone Town Hall with Rep. Keith Ellison to discuss the Republican attack on voting rights and what you can do about it. You can be on that call. Just sign-up and they’ll phone you and put you directly on with the Congressman.”
Note to animal owners: When it comes to road-tripping with your pet pooch, the ASPCA and PETA say don’t do as Mitt Romney did and strap Fido to the top of the car.
A lot of critics have been barking about the gross-out story the GOP presidential candidate told The Boston Globe in a 1997 interview about a 12-hour family trip from Boston to Ontario.
At the grocery store yesterday, I saw that one of the sleazy tabloids that always carry an anti-Obama story had the Romney/dog story. That means it’s reaching into the generally underinformed portions of the population and is getting legs. It’s one thing when PETA and a few blogs talk about it, it’s entirely different when a tabloid headline says that Romney “abused” his dog.
Given the racist audience Newton Leroy won it with an A-. He turned up the heat on his children as janitors program and received a standing ovation. Willard was really bad but Dick gave him a B.
Birthday wishes to the First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama.
May you live to see many, many, many more.
May the heavenly father shine all blessings on you and your family.
May you have peace and continued prosperity as the year progress.
Happy Birthday First Lady Obama!! Your beauty, intelligence and love for others makes you such a huge inspiration. You are truly one in a million. Wishing you many many more to come.
Morning! A very Happy Birthday to the MOST INCREDIBLE First Lady in my lifetime:) She truly is an inspiration to the world.I hope that she has a very happy day, filled with love and surprises. Surrounded by her family and friends. Happy Birthday, Michelle Obama!
Good morning TOD Family. I have wished our First Lady a very happy birthday on twitter, and have also lit a candle for her. If you would like to join me, here is the link.
Mitt Romney lies with such ease. His dishonesty knows no bounds. His lack of integrity is a major character flaw for someone who thinks they are qualified to be the leader of free world. I’m having a hard time figuring out where he fits in the lying category. Is he habitual, pathological, or compulsive? Whichever it is, it just makes sense that he will eventually be the nominee of the Republican Party since they have turned lying into art form.
Ppp sent out an email that said Oba is cleaning Robneys clock, and it will be out this morning.
Somebody must have gotten the memo, it ain’t online this morning, yet.
Colorado governor endorses civil unions
By Scot Kersgaard| Friday, January 13, 2025 at 9:10 am
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, in his State of the State address Thursday, called on the state legislature to pass civil unions legislation. While there was never any doubt as to whether he would sign such a bill, the governor told the legislature to get to work: “As we strive to make Colorado healthier, we believe in equal rights for all regardless of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation. We don’t believe we should legislate what happens inside a church or place of worship, but government should treat all people equally. It’s time to pass civil unions.”
Ron Paul one of only four House Republicans to request earmarks for 2011 budget (UPDATED)
By Patrick Caldwell| Wednesday, December 08, 2025 at 5:12 pm
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) was one of only four House Republicans to break rank from the party and request earmarks despite a Republican Conference earmark moratorium. Paul sent 41 earmark requests totaling $157,093,544 for the 2011 Fiscal Year. His largest single request was $19,500,000 for a naval training ship at the Texas Maritime Academy in Galveston, followed by a $18,126,000 to provide maintenance on the Matagorda Ship Channel.
Roger Simon has been doing a very decent job covering all the absurdities of the debates and campaigns writes about how excited the Repub audiences get when any of the candidate talk about death. They cheered Perry’s 234 executions and letting a person without health insurance die. And last night they went wild when Newt said, “Andrew Jackson had a pretty clear idea what to do about America’s enemies. Kill them!” Simon concludes, “This excited the members so much I thought they might burst out of the debate hall, charge down the coast and shell Fort Sumter again.”
Who are these sick people?

I want to wish FLMO a very HAPPY, BLESSED, 48TH BIRTHDAY and many more…
And, in honor of her bday, I donated $48 to TOD’s OFA Grassroots Fundraising Page! (It’s located at the top of its’ sidebar.—> ;) )
By the way, it’s now at $11,0014 (12,000)…GO TOD GO!

YES.WE.CAN, Again…Obama/Biden 2012!
WE CAN’T WAIT/WE CAN’T GO BACK…PRESS ON!
I would also add that WE are the message carriers. Sing it out to everyone you meet and never let a comment like, “I don’t know what he’s done,” go unchallenged. When you start listing PBO’s accomplishments and show your enthusiasm, it’s amazing how people back off.
Talking Points > Disappointed in Obama
So rather than give up hope, I’d encourage you stay involved and keep working with like minded folks to bring about a fairer, more prosperous America.
http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/07/talking-points-disappointed-in-obama.html
TienLe, created cards that we can print out and give to people like your friend.
http://otrainofthought.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/memory-cards/
Happy Birthday Michelle, you are a true ‘Shero’- love, grace and compassion personified. God bless and keep you.
Lots of LOVE and Happy Birthday wishes to our FLOTUS, the best First Lady this nation has known. Her heart is with us.
Good morning, TODville!!
FLOTUS twister followers at about 360 K, way above willard’s 265 K.
PBO to give acceptance speech Sept. 6 outside at 74,000 seat Carolina Panthers stadium:
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/01/17/2933423/obama-to-accept-at-stadium.html#storylink=cpy
Terrific!!
The actual name of the venue is Bank of America Stadium.
And the Weather better be good. Risky! But, 74k could be a good boost. Does not the democratic convention happen after the Republican convention?
Maybe I’ll go. Not sure about the huge crowd but to actually be there when he speaks would be wonderful.
It’s true-
On the final night of this fall’s Democratic National Convention, President Barack Obama will deliver his acceptance speech at Bank of America stadium, party sources told the Observer on Monday night.
Convention officials are expected to announce the venue this morning at a news conference at the stadium. Two party sources say the decision to use the stadium was made months ago.
The president will accept the nomination Sept. 6. So far, organizers have said only that plans call for holding the convention at Time Warner Cable Arena.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/01/17/2933423/obama-to-accept-at-stadium.html#storylink=cpy
Luckily, Warren Buffett is a major stock holder of Bank of America!
There were 84,000 people at Invesco when PBO accepted the nomination in 2008.
This is a 360 degree video of that night:
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/08/28/us/politics/20080828_OBAMA_PANO.html
Turn up the sound and click on “full screen” to get the full effect of what it was like to be there that night!!
I still get goose bumps thinking about that night.
Sigh!
Wow. They couldn’t find another name for that stadium?
Unfortunately, Bank of America spent $140 million to purchase 20 year naming rights to stadium 7 or 8 years ago.
Fox news latest poll has the President at 45% approval, 57% disapproval.
Hopefully, it’s viewers can’t add
Lol!
Well, you have to poll all 102% of Americans in the country.
Jovie- Luv the amazing links you report in with ,but please quit reporting the constant polls. Good grief, isn’t one of the house rules no constant downers? Thanks in advance.
What is do we expect from Fox?
Did Fox News ever study math at school! Even my 11 year old knows that 45 and 57 add up to more than 100!!! Gotta pity them though, not only can they not cope with the fact that PBO is President and has a good chance of regaining the presidency but they are dumb to boot!!
Blessings for a Happy Birthday to a wonderful FLOTUS - we love and appreciate you. Hope she has a fab day with her loved ones. Sending (((FLOTUS)))
Happy Birthday to our wonderful First Lady!
US humane society gives this President a C for animal protection.
Huh?
No grades for Robney.
Seriously?
Could you provide a link? That way we can actually see their reasoning behind their so-called grade? What grades they have given to previous presidents?
http://www.khou.com/community/blogs/animal-attraction/Animal-Attraction—137408218.html
I knew you would. PETA and ASPCA are good!
Bo gives the Obama family an A+.
Doesn’t this amount to a de facto poll tax? It’s an undue hardship for many to purchase ID.
Wishing all TODvillians, around the world, a great day!

This….
Note to animal owners: When it comes to road-tripping with your pet pooch, the ASPCA and PETA say don’t do as Mitt Romney did and strap Fido to the top of the car.
A lot of critics have been barking about the gross-out story the GOP presidential candidate told The Boston Globe in a 1997 interview about a 12-hour family trip from Boston to Ontario.
http://thehill.com/capital-living/in-the-know/204411-aspca-peta-criticize-romney-for-dog-on-top-of-his-car-
It’s about time!
Happy Birthday Mrs. Obama! May God bless you and your family.
so who won the rethugs ‘debate’ y’day ? did hackperin do the usual mittens asskissing ?
Karl Rove is on Today spinning like a top for Willard. He’s being allowed a double segment to lie to his heart’s content.
I watched Morning Joke for a few seconds and apparently the talking points are to spin for Romney today. They were doing the same.
Given the racist audience Newton Leroy won it with an A-. He turned up the heat on his children as janitors program and received a standing ovation. Willard was really bad but Dick gave him a B.
uugghh. It figures.
Birthday wishes to the First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama.
May you live to see many, many, many more.
May the heavenly father shine all blessings on you and your family.
May you have peace and continued prosperity as the year progress.
Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday Madam First Lady.

A “SHAMELESS” FLIP FLOPPING LIAR
Mitt Romney lies with such ease. His dishonesty knows no bounds. His lack of integrity is a major character flaw for someone who thinks they are qualified to be the leader of free world. I’m having a hard time figuring out where he fits in the lying category. Is he habitual, pathological, or compulsive? Whichever it is, it just makes sense that he will eventually be the nominee of the Republican Party since they have turned lying into art form.

And happy birthday to DDD, fabulous musician and creator of YouTube! Are you on TOD with us?
Roger Simon has been doing a very decent job covering all the absurdities of the debates and campaigns writes about how excited the Repub audiences get when any of the candidate talk about death. They cheered Perry’s 234 executions and letting a person without health insurance die. And last night they went wild when Newt said, “Andrew Jackson had a pretty clear idea what to do about America’s enemies. Kill them!” Simon concludes, “This excited the members so much I thought they might burst out of the debate hall, charge down the coast and shell Fort Sumter again.”
Who are these sick people?
