I had to post this here. Its how I’m feeling now. Like a huge boulder of heat lifted off me.
I’ve just listened to that after those previous hours of nonsense before, and there is no better contrast to who would be the better leader for this nation. There is no way in hell those four men on that stage tonight could knock this man down. No way in hell. They don’t have it. They have nothing but hatred and envy in their hearts, while our Commander in Chief has both the strength and compassion which has led our nation through trying times. Hate never wins in the end.
Having that level of energy and spunk at 9PM after a super-long day (traveling from DC to Florida, then back to NYC) is NO EASY FEAT. He makes it look a lot easier than it is that’s why all these Republican Klowns thought they could run and do well.
I cried like a baby, especially when he got really quiet, serious and passionate about what was at stake. You could hear a pin drop in the room at that point.
Oh Betsy, I was there with you. I cried so hard, my heart skipped a beat. He was so moving. I also saw the tiredness in his eyes, but he was willing to stand there with the people who love him so and pour out his heart. I know why I cried so hard.
Confession to make: Sometimes I feel that we do not deserve such a decent, hardworking, caring man as President Barack Obama. It hurts like hell to feel the pain that these clowns put out in his path each day.

Hi Lisa. Yes,, he was very hoarse. I started out with him this morning in Fl., and I could see the difference. I think that is what started the tears flowing for me. You could hear the fatigue in his voice and see it in his eyes. That is what made his singing those few bars so very special for me.

Well, Meta, thank you for sharing yet another example that proves President Obama is so aloof that he does not know how to connect with ordinary people. I wish you would share this with Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell. I am sure they would be delighted to air this on their programs to support what they’ve been saying about the President. Any one who watche the President’s singing to-night, or watched him sing for Dionne Warwick knows that President Obama is so aloof that he can’t connect with ordinary people. The fact that he connected with all the people at TOD is certainly no proof that he connects with people. The only way for President Obama to prove that he can connect with people is for him to sing one Bing Crosby’s songs. Something he should have done on Christmas.

I grew up at a good time musically — late 70s / early 80s. I had soul, disco, early rap, AOR, punk, new wave. I feel so sorry for kids today who have plastic, mass consumerist music to grow up on.
Well, Well, LL, you really missed out on the real good, and socially conscious, musical times of the 60s! Not only R&B, but also Jazz, Blues and Gospel! But then again I am biased because by late 80′s and early 90′s I was middle age and it took me time to really catch on the message of hip hop. I did, however, like rappers like Tupac.

When the audience booed him about the tax returns, you know the base won’t come out. It’ll still be a hard fought election, but I think we’re a bit closer to Bobfr’s prediction of a 1936 landslide. Courage folks. The wind’s in our sails.

I don’t think he will be able to get away by just releasing only the 2011 tax return after April. Most people will know that it was rigged to satisfy the demand. We obviously have to work hard because nothing in politics can ever be taken for granted, but Willard has indeed “mortally wounded himself for the general.”

Fareed Zakaria: Well, I’ve never found him cold and aloof. I think he’s actually a very real, very normal person. Most politicians, to be completely honest, Brooke, are kind of weird. You wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time with them. Obama is a kind of very unusual in that he’s very normal.
You also get that sense of his being a very dedicated father. I’ve had the honor to meet him a number of times. And I think that almost every time he has talked about his children. They just naturally come into the conversation for him. It’s obvious they’re on his mind all the time. Part of it is that I have kids about the same age. But he always brings them up. I mean we started the interview, we were talking about he had a cold. And he says, ‘I think I got it from Sasha. You know how it is with kids, they pass things on.’ They’re always part of his thinking. (from the CNN interview with him about his interview; and yes PBO did have a cold which he got from Sasha)
Zakaria captures what is so different about our President: he’s human! Not so far removed from the struggles we all face (he remembers struggling to pay mortgage and student loans; having credit card declined for a rental car; being asked to get someone a drink when he was a little-known state senator at a fundraising party. He’s real, loves his family, loves his country, and loves the American people.
Two good pieces this week with Andrew Sullivan on the cover of Newsweek and Zakariah’s excellent interview in Time. Always encouraging when a little truth slips through.

Well, Meta, thank you for sharing yet another example that proves President Obama is so aloof that he does not know how to connect with ordinary people. I wish you would share this with Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell. I am sure they would be delighted to air this on their programs to support what they’ve been saying about the President. Any one who watche the President’s singing to-night, or watched him sing for Dionne Warwick knows that President Obama is so aloof that he can’t connect with ordinary people. The fact that he connected with all the people at TOD is certainly no proof that he connects with people. The only way for President Obama to prove that he can connect with people is for him to sing one Bing Crosby’s songs. Something he should have done on Christmas.
He also sang for Dionne Warwick back when he was running for Senator. He sounded really good then as well. Love him!

Fareed Zakaria: Well, I’ve never found him cold and aloof. I think he’s actually a very real, very normal person. Most politicians, to be completely honest, Brooke, are kind of weird. You wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time with them. Obama is a kind of very unusual in that he’s very normal.
You also get that sense of his being a very dedicated father. I’ve had the honor to meet him a number of times. And I think that almost every time he has talked about his children. They just naturally come into the conversation for him. It’s obvious they’re on his mind all the time. Part of it is that I have kids about the same age. But he always brings them up. I mean we started the interview, we were talking about he had a cold. And he says, ‘I think I got it from Sasha. You know how it is with kids, they pass things on.’ They’re always part of his thinking. (from the CNN interview with him about his interview; and yes PBO did have a cold which he got from Sasha)

You all crack me up, and even though I am 57 years old, the magic of seeing & hearing OUR President makes me feel like 16 again. You are so spot-on, Isonprize! At the ceremony honoring the St. Louis Cardinals baseball champions, Michelle introduced him as the “sports man in chief.” He is really up on all the sports. I remember how he was able to connect with young Brazilian soccer players from poor communities. Yet, these self important pundits, like Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell, who are mad because he does not hang out with them, keep spreading the false meme that he is aloof and does not connect with people.
PBO singing is beyond great! Maybe someone already asked, but was his choice of that particular Al Green song a coincidence? Just saying;)

The president was expected to appear at four fundraisers in Manhattan tonight with a total haul of at least $3.1 million.
According to guest counts and ticket prices released by the White House, his first event at swish, Upper East Side eatery Daniel will net $500,000 for Obama’s reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
The second event, also at Daniel, was expected to draw 60 guests for at least $15,000 each.
Obama is then scheduled to motorcade to the home of movie director Spike Lee, where another 45 people paid $35,800 each — by far the most lucrative stop of the night with a potential take of $1.61 million.
Finally, the president will appear at a fundraiser priced more for the masses at the Apollo Theater. Tickets there range from $100 to $200.

Al Green’s not easy to “do” because of his unique tenor style… but Prez Obama had him down. I’m very much into music personally and professionally and I will validate his “flow”. It was smooth and his tone was pitch perfect.
