Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
“The future is ours to win. But to get there, we can’t just stand still. As Robert Kennedy told us, ‘The future is not a gift. It is an achievement.’. . . .
From the earliest days of our founding, America has been the story of ordinary people who dare to dream. That’s how we win the future. . . .
The idea of America endures. Our destiny remains our choice. And tonight, more than two centuries later, it’s because of our people that our future is hopeful, our journey goes forward, and the state of our union is strong.”
–from Remarks by the President in State of Union Address, United States Capitol, Washington, DC, January 25, 2011
I just got briefed a little on SOTU, in a rare moment of outreach from WH communications team. Get some caffeine ready tonight. #meepmeep— Andrew Sullivan (@sullydish) January 24, 2012
The press pool got a brief glimpse Tuesday afternoon of President Obama’s preparations for his State of the Union address.
As he walked from the Oval Office to the residence, Obama said he was still finishing up the speech — there ”may be a few touch-ups” to make before tonight.
Asked if he was pleased with the speech, he responded with a grin: “Not bad.”
He didn’t, though, answer a question from the pool about whether Mitt Romney should pay more in taxes.
SIX DATA POINTS ABOUT CULTURE WAR AND THE CAMPAIGN PRESS
By Professor Jay Rosen of New York University School of Journalism
———excerpt———–
See what I mean? The conservative movement’s warmaking around the liberal media is a joke to the people actually running for president as conservatives. Yes, it brings supporters to their feet. It permits a skilled candidate ready access to Agnew’s resentment machine. It works the refs. It raises money for the cause. But to actually live by the logic of that critique on the campaign trail? That would be too costly and kind of dumb.
For these people are not adversaries. (“I’ve just been struck with the good humor of the group.”) And they are not going to be forcing any confrontations along the lines of: “Mister Speaker, do you really think that we and our colleagues in the national media are trying to force the country to become something un-American? On what grounds do you make this charge? How would we even accomplish that?” This would sound unsavvy. It would show the political world that the questioner does not know how the game is played.

@davidaxelrod Victims of #GOP greed must be protected from job discrimination due to their credit rating. Urge WH issue EO protecting them.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) January 24, 2012
I could hug you and kiss you right now! That was SO perfect, Bob! Thank you very much for doing that. I called OFA/Chicago today and spoke with a very nice lady there about PBO coming to Phoenix. It’s at the Intel factory, and closed to the public:( No one knows when his plane will arrive, but I just have to hope that he’ll come for a rally before the election….
Anyway, while I had her on the phone, I also told her of my concern regarding this issue of the credit report, and asked her to please let someone there know that had the President’s ear. She said they already have talked about this, and are aware. (Did I mention how flippin’ on the ball this guy is?!!) She said that she would pass along that message for me.
Anyway, many thanks again, Bob. If you think about it from time to time, just send it again…I wrote the WH, and will continue to do so.
Other Tweeters…if you can join on with this message, that would be much appreciated for SO many families who get turned down for jobs, not because they aren’t qualified for the job, but because their credit score has been tarnished by the greed and recklessness of Wall St.
Dang, DF I’m sorry to read you won’t get to see PBO. I was hoping to get the inside info from you since both Sis and I are playing ‘nurse’ to one each of our daughters. My niece broke her leg over the weekend, surgery, five pins and a plate so Sis is doing the “Nurse Nancy” routine for her. My daughter is getting her pace maker tweaked tomorrow so I’m babysitting her little ones.
I’m glad to read that you got such great response from OFA in Chicago.
And another pic added to my iPad. Chips, you’re making it really hard to choose which pics to use as my lock and home screen. My president is just too delicious.
TD, PBO’S visit is closed to the public tomorrow AZ Dems told me that they hope that he will return sometime before the election for a rally here. Guess I have to go to work tomorrow….and my son has to go to school
“Romney delivered [his State of the Union pre-buttal] at an empty plant owned by the National Gypsum Company to highlight what he characterized as Obama’s failed handling of the economy.
“In a normal recovery under strong leadership, [this plant] could now be full of workers,” he said. “This is the real state of our union. But you won’t hear stories like these in President Obama’s address tonight. The unemployed don’t get invitations to sit with the first lady.”
The company’s website says that the plant closed in June 2008. It employed 78 workers. In 2008, does anyone recall who was President and which party’s policies were in full-bloom?
This coming from a man who routinely caused factories to shut down when he was at Bain Capital. Somehow I don’t think the optics will come across the way Willard thinks they will. Factories have been closing in this countries for decades. People understand that PBO inherited a mess from Bush and they would have to be delusional to suppose the president could get every factory in America rolling again in three short years. Wandering around in an empty factory complaining about the president seems really stagey and a little looney to me. Most reasonable people are going to be tempted to laugh.
Mitt says, “The unemployed don’t get invitations to sit with the first lady”? I seem to recall a young girl from South Carolina who was so poor that she had to borrow money for a stamp to ask President Obama to help her school – it a Republican state with two Republican senators. Mitt can’t even get his lies right.
I had a very big problem with the First Lady reference. Over the last few days I have managed to get my Mitt disgust down to a low level as it has been eclipsed by the threat of Newt. But then this smarmy, mealy-mouthed, lowlife, pious, fake decides to drag the First Lady into a campaign where she is not running for office–all to make a cheap political point that fails under scrutiny. I am right where you are: I CANNOT STAND ROMNEY.
Meanwhile in the real world, here is the profile of one the First Lady’s guests this evening:
Amber Morris
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Amber Morris, a Virginia Beach resident, responded to the White House’s call in December asking Americans “What does $40 mean to you?” saying, “Forty dollars a pay check means that I’ll be able to pay my bills, but most months it’ll be a tight squeeze. It means that I’ll have no spending money which means I can’t do my part in encouraging my local economy. Forty dollars a paycheck may not seem a lot, but it could mean a steady job for me and my coworkers or unemployment.” Ms. Morris graduated from Northeastern Law School IN 2008 SHE WAS UNABLE TO FIND A JOB in her field. She was working for a non-profit in Boston, but after they lost funding SHE FOUND HERSELF UNEMPLOYED IN 2009 and forced to move back home with her parents. She’s since found work as a waitress in a local restaurant and although it’s less than ideal, she feels “lucky to have paycheck” to help pay student loans and help save up for the Virginia bar exam.
Mitt Romney’s playbook is so tired. He staged this pre-buttal in the shuttered factory of one of his donors not seeming to care that the factory was shut down under Bush. Industry-wide sales were down 60 percent for drywall companies due to the housing slump.
All of this happened in 2008 and this idiot is tries to malign the President and the First Lady in a factory emptied by an economic crisis created by his party and their policies.
.@newtgingrich tells Christian Broadcasting that his failed marriages "make me more normal than someone who wanders around seeming perfect"— Kelly O'Donnell (@KellyO) January 24, 2012
So what is Newt saying, because you do your best to remain faithful to your wife, you’re not normal. And because he cheats, he is normal. Did Newt say that his mother had some mental illness. Sounds like Newt might be suffering from it.
Newt is beginning to melt down, because of the silenced crowd at last nights debate and demanding that HE get crowds to applaud and cheer for him… similar to this moment from Fred Thompson:
Newt is that little cubby kid on the playground — can’t talk shit unless he has a crowd backing him up; runs home as soon as he gets hit; then talks shit again to his loyal friends when his opponent is no where in sight…
Can wait until PBO hits either of them with the two hit rule…
I’m staying away from the pundits (except for Martin Bashir and Rev. Al, which I’m recording but will try not to watch until later) and just gonna concentrate on enjoying the SOTU!
Deadbeat Dad will be welcomed back to Martin’s show after he’s resolved his deadbeat issues! Off to find a cloth to wipe off my keyboard, which surprisingly is still functioning!
So President Obama has become irrelevant according to this little twit? Republicans USED TO HAVE BRAINS, for Pete’s sake … up until right before Reagan, that is. Something must have happened, some UFO perhaps dropped by and sucked out all their brains with an interplanetary vacuum. Too bad it didn’t suck the Republicans’ entire corpus with them.
Now that Mitt Romney has released his tax returns for 2010, we can have a stab at answering another key question. What would Romney himself pay in taxes if his tax policies become law?
In 2010, Romney enjoyed an income of $21.7 million. Of that amount, he paid about $3 million in taxes — a tax rate of just under 15 percent.
Citizens for Tax Justice, which is liberal-leaning but nonpartisan, supplied me with its analysis of what Romney would pay out of his 2010 income in taxes under various scenarios. The column to the right is what Romney would pay under his own plan:
I just got briefed a little, in a rare moment of outreach from the White House communications team. Everything is embargoed, so no details. And being briefed about the contents is not the same as listening Obama deliver the case. But sheesh. Get some caffeine ready.
I just got off a call with Joe Biden and Sec. Salazar. Is that the same call you were on? Wow, what a thrill to hear Joe sound so revved up and Salazar so committed to everything that’s happening.
No actually that was from Andrew SUllivan. Reading it over actually, I can’t tell if that means, what he heard was boring so you need caffeine. Hopefuly not.
Thanks – Glad to know So then why do we need caffeine. Is it because we will be staying up way, way past the address just to parse through all the details of the speech?
I don’t read Sully as much as I used to – he got kinda weird there for a while – but I seem to remember he’s used that metaphor before when talking about Candidate Obama and POTUS.
Before I dash off to class I have a positive CALL TO ACTION
Let’s thank Brian Williams for his excellent commentary last night
Thank Martin Bashir for his interview with Walsh
A congratulate Steve Benen while we ask him to keep the progressive vibs going with Rachel.
If folks could post contact info for these 3 that would be great.
I sent my Thank You’s to the people you listed I love all 3!!! I also added Krystal Ball onto my Thank You’s list… and sent one to her just seconds ago.
AWESOME…MY FAVE…I’LL BE OVER…I CAN GO THRU SOME POPCORN..MY HIPS ARE A WITNESS!..HEE–HEE! OFF TO DINNER NOW AND A LITTLE NAP BEFORE THE SOTU…HAVE TO SAVE MY STRENGTH FOR PBO SWOONING!..:)
CNN graphic: "pivotal speech could make or break Obama campaign. I.e.: "let's hype beyond all reason, since no SOTU has ever done this"— Jeff Greenfield (@greenfield64) January 24, 2012
During the campaign, every major speech this man was going to doom his efforts to become President. After he was elected, every major sppech potentially doomed his ability to govern. Now every major speech will potentially doom his re-election. You would think at some point they would get crisis fatigue.
CNN: 2016
President Obama’s farewell speech potentially dooms his legacy
President Obama’s Presidential Library dedication speech potentially dooms his library
President Obama’s speech to Bo potentially dooms his fetch.
I hope nobody’s showing these to President Obama before the speech – he’ll get to laughing during the SOTU when he looks at Boehner and thinks of some of them! I know I would!
…I don’t think Romney has earned an actual paycheck since he left the governor’s corner office in Boston. He’s been a bum and a deadbeat since January 4, 2007. As for private sector work, other than some stuff he did for the Olympics (does that count?) he’s been a shiftless layabout since he left Bain Capital in 1999.
And, yet, he somehow manages to pocket in excess of $20 million a year for doing absolutely nothing productive. He’s just a parasite on society who goes around the country badmouthing people with actual jobs, like the president.
And the best part is that this freeloading loafer pays 15% on his “income” while hardworking people like Newt Gingrich pay 31%.
So, what does this idling shirker have to teach us about job creation? In Romney’s America, do we all get to sit around doing nothing while checks roll in? Who will be left to fix our cars or replace the seawater pump impeller on our yachts…
SOTU snacks made for this person by her mother… how cute:

…”The only spectacle in American politics more off-putting than Newt Gingrich in self-righteous defense mode is Mitt Romney in self-righteous attack mode.” – William Kristol, January 23rd, 2012…
These 25 companies have at least 700 openings each, totaling more than 56,000 available jobs. What are they looking for? Here are excerpts from our conversations with their recruiters.
Obama made sure we got bin Laden, saw to Iraq "Mission Accomplished", can sing Al Green, remains faithful to his first wife. Bring it, GOP.— Lawrence Congdon (@LC_Sun) January 24, 2012
My students have been briefed, given graphic organizers and advised to watch the speech on Whitehouse.gov. or C-span, or PBS. Looking forward to their ideas, analysis, and reactions. They are always much more interesting than the pundits.
How stupid can the Romney campaign and candidate be to get tripped up by the same issue they had trouble with before? What’s that saying, those who don’t learn from the past are likely to repeat it…
It may be a touch of deja vu that Mitt Romney’s campaign is being weighed down by questions about his taxes. A similar issue tripped him up during his 2002 run for governor of Massachusetts….
Double thanks Meta. I am sure we will have a need for the Naughty Mats afterwards. Our President is looking so good, and he has not even dressed for the SOTU tonight. I love how happy he looks.
I am going around the house lighting my tea candles and set a calm mood because I am all ears for our wonderful President.
Candles for all of the Guest sitting with the First Lady.
One Stand with 3 candles burning all at the same time for the 3 branches of our government:
The Executive Branch
The Legislative Branch
The Judicial Branch
May our beautiful TOD Family and our Beloved Chipsticks be a beautiful Light for all of us in my Music Room on my Meditative/Prayer Table.
May we lift up our collective energy tonight for our President and his Administration.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS and Great Energy Going Out For President Obama))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
OKay I generally don’t link to HuffyPuffy but Stein got a few excerpts of the speech. (Hint..meepmeep!) Just a sampling:
// “….The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive. No challenge is more urgent. No debate is more important. We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by. Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules. What’s at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values. We have to reclaim them.”
…
“As long as I’m President, I will work with anyone in this chamber to build on this momentum. But I intend to fight obstruction with action, and I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies that brought on this economic crisis in the first place.
No, we will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad debt, and phony financial profits. Tonight, I want to speak about how we move forward, and lay out a blueprint for an economy that’s built to last – an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values.”
…
“Let’s never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a government and a financial system that does the same. It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody.” //
I thought the speech was embargoed…so they can’t give direct statements or quotes until the embargo is released…which is usually closer to the time of the speech.
Would anyone so inclined please think some good thoughts for my son – who went to a job interview this afternoon and has a call-back second interview on Friday? He deserves the best (true story)!
Oh definitely JOBoomer! Congratulations on his having the first interview and receiving a call-back for a second interview! Hope it does bring good news and the best of luck and success on his job endeavours.
I honor of our singing President and to get us pumped up even more than we already are I think a moment of reflection at the CERB (Chips Emergencey Response Button) at 8:55 by ALL of TOD is in order.
Just to get us completely FIRED UP and READY TO GO!
Unfavorable views of Mitt Romney have soared, doubts about Newt Gingrich remain widespread and Barack Obama has advanced to his highest personal popularity in more than a year — all in advance of the State of the Union address in which Obama makes his case for a second term.
Fifty-three percent of Americans in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll express a favorable opinion of Obama overall, up by 5 points from last month to the most since April 2010. It can matter: Favorability is the most basic measure of a public figure’s popularity…..
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray offered an outstretched hand to Republicans on Tuesday in his first appearance before Congress since his controversial recess appointment.
Appearing before the same House Oversight subcommittee where Elizabeth Warren, the architect of the bureau, got into a heated dispute with a Republican lawmaker, the soft-spoken Cordray tried to tamp down the simmering partisan conflict over his agency.
“The people who work at the consumer bureau are always happy to discuss our work,” he told members. “I look forward to working closely with you.”
The President looks wonderful strolling along the Colonnade. I really don’t want him to ever leave the Whitehouse. Not even in 2016. I guess I’m just greedy huh?
Lookin’ Good, Mr. President!
Oh my, did I just luck out here and beat all the other TODers????
Yep! Congrats!
Whoa.
Whoa indeed!

woot! That is quite a prize – yea for me.

Boy, I hope John Mica doesn’t get re-elected. Time for that dog to go home.
He is very bad for infrastructure!
That’s not fair ! I’m returning home from the the 197nd meeting of the Fortran Standardization Committee in Las Vegas on Saturday the 18th – they can’t just shut down on me !!!
SNARK
IT’S SHOW TIME!
9pm eastern is 3am my time. Let´s see if I can stick to my plan of setting my alarm for that time in the night.
It.s 2 am my time and I have set two alarms and set the teas maid so I have a nice hot cuppa before I settle to watch President Obama. (What a lazy thing I am!!) Will then stay up the rest of the night to do housework as I have friends coming to stay Thursday for my birthday.
Last year the SOTU was on my bday (UK time) and made a fantastic start to the day.
Sounds great
Unfortunately I have to get up at 6.30 but oh well.
Try to get some rest before if you can. If you do manage to stick to your plan of settling your alarm, I hope you enjoy SOTU.
I will
Was kind of bummed last year. Not only did I not manage to watch it, but also did I miss a meeting / presentaiton thing at my city´s German / American cooperation society who had invited a German biographer of the Obama´s who talked about last year´s SOTU.
HAVE TO PICK UP A CAR FROM REPAIRS AND THEN I’M TAKING A NAP BEFORE IT STARTS. IF YOU SNOOZE TONITE AT THE SOTU..YOU LOSE!
Hi Nili, good to know that there will be others up in the middle of the night too!!
President Barack Hottie Obama
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL…NAUGHTY MATTTT FOR YOU THIS EVENING. I ALREADY HAVE ONE FOR MYSELF!..:)
Bringing this over from last topic:
How many followers does she have now?
“Only” 473,246! Go MO!
YES! and YES and YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Prayed for him this morning.
I wish I was going to be in your box, but I guess I will be home with afew family members watching your husband.
you all just missed the greatest smack down of a republican ever seen. Bahsirlive took joe walsh to the wood shed and closed the door. LOL!
I saw — it was a thing of beauty! Imagine, a journalist who is not afraid to push back w/facts in hand. I miss Walter Cronkite, Tim Russert, and especially Ed Bradley!
I REALLY MISS CRONKITE AND PETER JENNINGS…TO THEM JOURNALISM WAS AN ART TO BE RESPECTED FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE SCREEN!
Agreed.
Dang … I missed it and there is never any replay or podcast of Martin…..
You’re not alone. I missed it too
Linda Martin is FANTASTIC he is one of my favors he is very very smart!!!
We need to bombard MSNBC with tweets for them to add Bashir to prime time – he should take either the 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. slot, he is that good! Do we really need a repeat of Chris Matthews?
Agreed, one hour of Tweety is enough.
Sometimes it is to much !
It’s already online…..Oh it is good!! I love Martin Bashir…I so agree with you all that he should have his show at 7.
Joe Walsh is a %&”*(/&%(“*&)…..
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/46120219#46120219
Thanks… I just watched… Martin missed a huge opportunity by not asking…. If Romney is a job creator and deserves 0% on Capital Gains…. Just how many jobs has he created since he has been unemployed for over 10 years ?
No, we definitely do not need repeats of Tweety.
CTGirl: Yes, yes, and more Yes Chris Matthews sound like a used car sellsman I do not watch heim at all
I always wait for Rve Sharpton and Martin.
No, we don’t Chris as a repeat
Walsh is so dense and lacking self awareness I was not certain he realized what was done to him.
Bill, seeing this guy talk makes me want to take a shower. He’s ignorant, bigoted and has a wildly over-inflated ego. Does anyone know if his district has a challenger who can take this guy out in November? How can his constituents even stand to be in the same room with him?
Don’t sweat it. He has no chance in November.
Walsh is a real teabagger goofball. His district, mine, has been redrawn favoring Dems, and I think he will face a primary opponent and would then face either Tammy Duckworth, the Iraq war helicopter pilot who lost her legs there and was head of Vet Affairs, or Raja Krishnamoorthi (?), who has worked on Obama’s Senate and Presidential campaigns, both popular. So hopefully this will be the end of him.
Ooops! I sent Martin an email protesting Walsh appearance. I should have trusted his judgment.
and this one, too:
We really need to give the President a congress that will work with him, for us!
I THINK NANCY IS GOING TO GIVE BOEHNER ‘THE FINER SIDE OF HIS HOUSE MALLET’ THIS TIME AROUND. FORGET THE KLEENEX…PASS HIM THE BANDAIDS! OUCH!
Or, as we’d say where I come from, “the business end” of his House mallet. I look forward to the day!
No matter how you put it, Nancy Pelosi is going to bring “the pain” for the R’s. Rock on Nancy!

They are pretty stubborn over there.
Your right about that. The bill came due and they still don’t want to pony up.

Barack Obama Quote O’ The Day
Have a great afternoon, everyone!
Andrew Sullivan got prepped about the SOTU by Andrew Sullivan.
I meant to say that Andrew Sullivan got prepped about the SOTU by the White House.
Good. Sully is the biggest Obamacon out there.
He is a “must go to” blogger commentator.
Here is his tweet, I smiled at #MeepMeep
Okey dokey!!
Oh man, I hope wifey gets puppy from daycare early so that we don’t miss the speech.
Really? that’s is fantastic is Sullivan going to be there? Sullivan has PBO”s back.
Lol!
THE PROBLEM WITH THE MEDIA
============================

Excellent!!
Great response from the OFA/Chicago folk, df. I’ll certainly retweet it a time or two in the next few days.
#PRESSON
New hashtag forming on twitter:
#IWillBeDisappointedIfObamaDoesntSay
I wonder who came up with this?
I don’t know but It’s all snark.
sorry, didn’t notice that you posted this.
The PL!
It’s making fun of the PL
And another pic added to my iPad. Chips, you’re making it really hard to choose which pics to use as my lock and home screen. My president is just too delicious.
TD, PBO’S visit is closed to the public tomorrow
AZ Dems told me that they hope that he will return sometime before the election for a rally here. Guess I have to go to work tomorrow….and my son has to go to school
Bummer df! I sure was looking forward to a pic of you holding that roll of paper towels at the event.
Guess it’ll have to be next time.
In 2008, does anyone recall who was President and which party’s policies were in full-bloom?
http://ngc-heritage.com/ngc-twentyzero.htm
http://m2.tbo.com/content/2008/apr/22/tampa-drywall-maker-lay-78/
One thing’s for sure, with him standing in that empty plant it will surely be full of sh*t!
If Mitt said that, I say to Mitt: Get your hands and your remarks off our First Lady!
I CANNOT STAND ROMNEY.
I can’t stand even listening to his voice. I mute every time now. He’s despicable.
“I had a very big problem with the First Lady reference”.
So did I
Romney is toast anyway, burnt toast at that. He shall not cross the line concerning our Beloved First Lady.
She’s since found work as a waitress in a local restaurant and although it’s less than ideal, she feels “lucky to have paycheck” to help pay student loans and help save up for the Virginia bar exam.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/what-michelle-obamas-guest-list-tells-us-about-the-state-of-the-union/2012/01/24/gIQAJw4COQ_blog.html
Yeah Bone Head, full of workers with lung disease! Figging Repugnants are too ignorant for words.
Sully said to get some caffeine for tonights speech.
What is he implying?
Who?
Andrew Sullivan!
Maybe that it’s going to be a long night? Who knows.
Or maybe he was implying that after getting briefed by WH on the SOTU, that the speech is boring.
That is how I took it!
Nope. Not sure how you even imagine that.
I think he’s implying that he wants everyone to be wide awake and not miss a word!
I can only hope, that was ambiguous and not very comforting, afterall, he was just briefed by the WH!
The hashtag was #meepmeep. That’s what he does when PBO is about to spank his adversaries.
Thanks for the #meepmeep definition, LL. Didn’t know what the devil it meant but was too embarrassed to ask!
lololol Joan – given all the lingo I am positive all of us have those moments. lol
He added #meepmeep, so be comforted that it will be good. Roadrunner will once again outsmart the Coyote
Doesn’t he always hit it out of the park? What are you worried about? Added to that Sully said he got no details.
I think he got some details but isn’t allowed to speak about them.
I think you’re right – he said “meep, meep”, which he seems to use when there’s a scoop!
Chips got jokes… lol
check out: https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23IWillBeDisappointedIfObamaDoesntSay
lol funny…..
Heeeeeee.
LOL!
Go baby, kick butts!
There’s absolutely no risk of Gingrich seeming perfect in any regard. What a complete doofus.
the stench of their jealousy is something to behold!
Family values, Noot, family values
Keep spinning Gnewt.
So what is Newt saying, because you do your best to remain faithful to your wife, you’re not normal. And because he cheats, he is normal. Did Newt say that his mother had some mental illness. Sounds like Newt might be suffering from it.
This is the man who social conservatives believe should lead our nation. Newt and Mitt are not the only frauds who have been exposed in this campaign.
No it doesn’t. newt is a run of the mill asshole.
Newt is beginning to melt down, because of the silenced crowd at last nights debate and demanding that HE get crowds to applaud and cheer for him… similar to this moment from Fred Thompson:
And fitting seeing as Fred endorsed Newt.
Newt is that little cubby kid on the playground — can’t talk shit unless he has a crowd backing him up; runs home as soon as he gets hit; then talks shit again to his loyal friends when his opponent is no where in sight…
Can wait until PBO hits either of them with the two hit rule…
It’s because the silence accentuates the despicable, racist nature of his comments stand out, without cover.
He looks ready!
I’ve been singing that song since reading this on twitter… LOL
Oh god, so have I!
Me too!
Liberal Librarian, No, we’ll let Mrs. Obama tell Dowd that.
Hah! Mrs. O wouldn’t waste her precious time.
Liberal Liberarian, then I would be happy to tell her, and believe me I can say things Mrs. O can’t.
Tell her, Annebella. MD needs to hear from you.
Chips – Just love today’s photos!
I’m staying away from the pundits (except for Martin Bashir and Rev. Al, which I’m recording but will try not to watch until later) and just gonna concentrate on enjoying the SOTU!
Cannot wait!
Bang! Zoom! To the moon!!
Hah! Truth!
Oh god. #dead
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Video of Martin Bashir’s interview with the deadbeat dad:
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/the-ed-show/46120641/?ocid=twitter
Now Martin Bashir, did a STELLAR job on Joe Walsh, wowwwwwwwwwww, great Interviewing Martin, I like
Deadbeat Dad will be welcomed back to Martin’s show after he’s resolved his deadbeat issues!
The column to the right is what Romney would pay under his own plan:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/chart-what-romney-would-pay-under-his-own-tax-plan/2012/01/24/gIQAMJDtNQ_blog.html
Good chart.
I’ll bet ya 10 pennies he slaps the podium!
Oh what? You don’t have a “spare” $10,000???
Ummmmm, you think? I don’t know about that
Before The SOTU
I just got briefed a little, in a rare moment of outreach from the White House communications team. Everything is embargoed, so no details. And being briefed about the contents is not the same as listening Obama deliver the case. But sheesh. Get some caffeine ready.
GET READY YALL!
I just got off a call with Joe Biden and Sec. Salazar. Is that the same call you were on? Wow, what a thrill to hear Joe sound so revved up and Salazar so committed to everything that’s happening.
I’m so excited, just hearing all this!
JO’B, I know you’re a big fan of Joe!! He is SWEET.
No actually that was from Andrew SUllivan. Reading it over actually, I can’t tell if that means, what he heard was boring so you need caffeine. Hopefuly not.
He tweeted the same thing except he had his hashtag #meepmeep at the end. So you know what that means. Expect some ass-kicking.
Has he used #meepmeep before?
hopefruit, Sully uses “meepmeep” when PBO JUJITSU’s GOP’S ASS just like roadrunner to wile coyote.
Thanks – Glad to know
So then why do we need caffeine. Is it because we will be staying up way, way past the address just to parse through all the details of the speech?
I don’t know about Twitter, but in his column he uses “meep meep” every time PBO runs rings around his opposition, both left and right.
I don’t read Sully as much as I used to – he got kinda weird there for a while – but I seem to remember he’s used that metaphor before when talking about Candidate Obama and POTUS.
YES! THANKS LL! SUPER EXCITED!
Maybe he meant YOU’LL WANT TO STAY UP FOR THIS ONE!!!
Greetings folks

Jack Cafferty has gone hard right!
I remember he was cool with the President in 08.
REMEMBER THE TIMES HE ADMITTED TO A BIG CRUSH ON FLOTUS?
I use to like Jack too, but I don’t listen to him anymore.
Donna Dem – Did you spot this?
Very cool. She was born in Maryland so this makes total sense. Bravo!
I also think it’s great that FLOTUS invited Steve Jobs’ widow, Laurene.
FLOTUS is the best
Great about Laurene Jobs. The guest list is particularly good this year, or is it me?
I think it’s STELLAR.
Oh My I didn’t see that!
Two hunks in the same room. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stand it. ***swoon***
I know, right? I’ll take it!!
I so hate the craven media:
meta, we know the media is full of alot of B.S.
All this speech does is set the tone and reminds everybody, he is still President.
The above applies to the media, most of all!
Well, he is definitely going to spell out his budget priorities, which will become the platform for his campaign. But I take your point.
President Obama’s speech to Bo potentially dooms his fetch.
lololololol you are so right FiredUpInCA
President Obama’s speech to Bo potentially dooms his fetch.
LOL,
Oh god, old school SNL.
LOL!
I hope nobody’s showing these to President Obama before the speech – he’ll get to laughing during the SOTU when he looks at Boehner and thinks of some of them! I know I would!
Romney’s Layabout America
SOTU snacks made for this person by her mother… how cute:
What a sweet mom.
Yeahhhhhhhhh
Yummy!!!!
That looks yummy!
It’s so hot here in NZ.. we’re going to have Ice Cream and Smoothies as part of our #SOTU snack (If you can call it a snack lol) It will be 15:00 (3pm) here when the speech is on
Beautiful! That was so nice.

Ron Paul already thinks this…
I love this!
Romney’s New Anti-Newt ad
Paid for by Romney for President, Inc. ???? Romney is incorporated ??
well, he’s a person so he must be a corporation.
Corporations are people, my friend.
He’s looking to personally get under Newt’s skin. LOL
And somehow, I’m hoping he does get under his skin
Romney you are a bad bad boy!
That poll was taken in May 2011. I’m sure those numbers are even better at this point.
Boner: “Obama’s from another planet”
Yes, Boner, President Obama is from Planet Earth.
He looks fired up and ready to go. I am too.
My students have been briefed, given graphic organizers and advised to watch the speech on Whitehouse.gov. or C-span, or PBS. Looking forward to their ideas, analysis, and reactions. They are always much more interesting than the pundits.
CEB, if you don’t mind, could you let us know their reax?
Of course!
How stupid can the Romney campaign and candidate be to get tripped up by the same issue they had trouble with before? What’s that saying, those who don’t learn from the past are likely to repeat it…
Tax Questions Tripped Up Romney’s Run For Governor
Chips, I just had a large shipment of naughty mats and champagne delivered to you. I hope you can accommodate us. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Meta for being proactive.

May our beautiful TOD Family and our Beloved Chipsticks be a beautiful Light for all of us in my Music Room on my Meditative/Prayer Table.
May we lift up our collective energy tonight for our President and his Administration.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS and Great Energy Going Out For President Obama))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
Loved this one!
Best line in that movie! But we got the better President!
I’ve understood in the past that it gets released around 6PM
They’ve released just a few excerpts.
And the excerpts are, well, devastating.
Well, spank my ass and call me Charlie! Meep meep indeed.
BOOOOOOMMMMMM.
goes the dynamite!
Covering my eyes. Don’t want to see one word.
me either. I want to hear it from PO himself.

Torn between watching the SOTU at parents house or going to hang with local crowd to watch party at Ted’s Montana Grill. Decisions, decisions!
You are suffering from what is known as a “happy headache!”
Good luck my friend and enjoy the speech wherever you decide to watch it !!!
“I look forward to working closely with you.”
http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/banking-financial-institutions/206243-consumer-bureau-chief-tries-charm-offensive-on-gop-critics
Cordray was a Jeopardy champion so the man is super smart and knowledgeable.
The President looks wonderful strolling along the Colonnade. I really don’t want him to ever leave the Whitehouse. Not even in 2016. I guess I’m just greedy huh?
You’re not the only one. Just like FDR, he needs four terms!
Then again, I don’t think I want his hair to get any whiter…
