I’ll admit, I’ve had doubts in recent months about whether PBO would be re-elected. I was way more confident the last few weeks. After tonight, I seriously have no doubts at all. None.
Love the fella. That was magnificent.
Night everyone, see you tomorrow.

Night all!
Congrats on 1st!
The President will be even more FIRED UP tomorrow! He thrives on telling the truth!
Thank you, Chips, for a rousing evening!
Thank you PBO! Thanks Pamela, see you tomorrow – night everyone.
Night Chips. Thank you so very much for all that you do and for giving us a positive and loving place to hang out
I second that. Chips does good work.
G’nite Chips. It’s been one hell of a day! xoxox
Must be those solar flares!

Chips – You kept us moving tonight! Thanks for adding so much to the wonderful “enjoyment” that was the SOTU!
You know, JO’B, I am thinking what a relief to all those people out there who have been scratching their heads wondering what the heck the GOP contenders have been talking about for weeks now, to see this amazing man, The President Of The United States, to hear his determination, his conviction, witness his dedication. I imagine many of them will sleep much better knowing an adult is sitting in the White House right now!
So true! We’ve got to get the count of how many people saw the SOTU. Of course, many watched online, but I’d like to hear the ratings.
Yes, Pamela, and could we permanently put to rest the delusion among some people that either Newton LeRoy or Willard could “best” PBO in a debate. Newt can have LIncoln-Douglas fantasies til the cows come home, but the fact is our president would be wiping the floor with the him in the first half hour. Those who think their great debater is a Republican should feel very a very uncomfortable about now.
100% concur Pamela.
SOTU Reaction
by John Cole
I gotta say, every time I get some one on one time with that guy, which is basically what the SOTU is- an opportunity for the President to speak to America, I just want to vote for him early and often. The contrast between Obama and the crowd of miscreants in the GOP running to replace him is just striking.
http://www.balloon-juice.com
This is the second or third article I’ve seen where it’s just a short paragraph or two, stating the obvious. Some of these well-intentioned people just said “He was great” and didn’t go on to say “but he should have … ”
How refreshing.
Amen. Everyone’s a critic. It is possible to just enjoy PBO without being a killjoy. The constant nitpicking by folks who’ve been elected to nothing is so annoying.
I could not agree more. Sick of it.
But we got to hear the President, so – with that happy thought in mind – I’ll say goodnight, y’all!
Spot on L3…
Every silly person with a pen and or a computer suddenly feels qualified to critique and direct the awesome President of the United States…
It is sickening…
“The constant nitpicking by folks who’ve been elected to nothing is so annoying”
is worth repeating
John Cole, despite being boneheaded at times and sometimes critical of Pres.Obama’s policies, is 90% Obot. He donates monthly and buys campaign gear.
hehe…First..!!
I mean 1st to point out that I am NOT 1st…lol..!!

New England Patriot Chad Ochocinco gets into the SOTU
By DONOVAN SLACK | 1/24/12 11:33 PM EST
The Patriots may be headed to the Superbowl, but star player Chad Ochocinco said it was the State of the Union address that rocked his world tonight, POLITICO’s Caitlin McDevitt reports.
During a seemingly spontaneous live-Tweeting of the speech, he pronounced it “awesome” and at one point wondered how the president memorized so much material.
When a Twitter follower posited “i feel like this is @ochocinco ‘s first time experiencing politics,” he offered a surprising response, saying it was “like losing virginity all over again.”
So Ocho hasn’t heard the teleprompter jokes?
Father, as our Beloved President heads out on his day of visiting various cities tomorrow thank You, Sir, for keeping him safe in every way, shape and form. Surround him with Your love and complete protection. Let the angels keep him safe along with the Secret Service. Let him continually be in the right places at the right time. In Jesus Mighty Name. AMEN!!
I join you in prayer for our beloved President, thank you, vitaminlover!
Amen, Amen and Amen.
Good Nite Chips and all of my lovely TOD Family members. This was so wonderful. He hit it out of the park. I knew he would. His Mother and Father, Grandmother and Grandfather came out of him tonight. I love this man. Thanks the beautiful angels who watch over him, and thanks for the Divine wisdom that graced his spirit tonight.
We are Moving with him to keep him for 4 more years!!! We can’t allow this great gift to not be a major part of our lives.HZ
Standing with you in prayer for our President.
Amen, amen and amen…
Amen, and thank you for this lovely prayer.
Let me say Amen too.
Amen, VL, amen. I’ve prayed a similar prayer ever day since PBO first announced he was running.
Amen
Yes, JG, on his first election day I made a committment to pray daily for him and his precious family. God has His Hand on him and I know there are prayers going out for him continually. Remember the picture of all of the men with their hands on him in prayer and he was in the center? People cannot say that he is not humble. He is very receptive to God and a Christian. I do so admire the man and his family.
Aw, Chips. It gets tough. Sometimes we need reboots like these to remind us. Thanks for keeping us together and sane, especially when things weren’t all rosy. Much love, babe. Much love.
Thank you so much for tonight’s threads Chips and thanks to everyone who made it so interesting.
Comment on sully’s reaction found on Benen’s blog..
“N. Bates on January 24, 2012 11:20 PM:
Sully’s panning really bums me out. There was some excess ornamentation and maybe too much playing to conservative tastes here and there, but Andrew made a major gaffe. I wrote him, try it, see if I was right:
“Andrew,
You wrote: “When, for example, will this president actually make the case for his own healthcare reform – a moderate, sane, historic reform that is the centerpiece of his first term – and which he didn’t mention tonight?” But he did. I don’t have a transcript, but Obama pointedly noted how he won’t let insurance companies turn people down for PECs, and how he built his plan on reformed private services (“such as it is”) instead of a “government health care” plan, etc. Go look at a transcript and issue an apology, please. You owe it to the President, to your readers, and to yourself. You need to tighten up, that was careless and will mislead people.”

EXCELLENT.
I think Ruth Bader Ginsburg reminds Pres. Obama of his grandmother “Toot” I think they genuinely like and respect each other.
I love them together.
You are so right isonprize and lisa. I can’t recall exactly what event at the White House Justice Ginsburg was in attendence, POB mentioned her as one important guest in the audiencce, and his remarks about here were so lovely. “I must confess that she has a very special place in my heart, she is so very special to me.” And then FLOTUS said out aloud, “Yes, she does.” It was so special and very sweet.
So I concur with both of you. Their is a beautiful respectful very close relationship between them for that reason that maybe so true about reminding him of his beloved grandmother.HZ
FIRED UP…!!
READY TO GO..!!!

I just had to bring this comment over from BJ:
Zagloba – January 24, 2012 | 10:46 pm
Shorter SOTU: y’all motherfuckers in congress haven’t found your asses with a treasure map and a Klieg light in the year since you took office, so we’re doing this in the Executive branch now. Feel free to join the party whenever.
Ha! That comment nailed it!
Hahahaha. Fuck yeah!
Rewatching SOTU!! Once was not enough!!
I missed the beginning…thank g-d I get to watch it now.
Lisa and proundmemberofglobalzero, I am on my third watch. Everytime, I hear something that hits me so. This was great. I have always said that these people take President Obama for granted, and that is a very dangerous thing to do with this president. He is a master at what he does and believe in, and he will find a way to come out of top. He will win this, if we are willing to work with him to get it done.
I am fired up and ready to go with my TOD family and Chips.
Chips, you are the best, and I give thanks for you each day of my life that we all found you. You are a master as doing this great work, and I will stand with you as long as you allow me to have the honor to come here. ((((((((Hugs to you, Chips))))))))))HZ
Hugs back, HZ!
You’re not the only one Lisa. I’ve already watched the SOTU six times!
It’s just that bloody fantastic.
5 states in 2 days? Really?
I’m so OVER this shit I could SCREAM!! Please retweet the shit out of this:
Get ‘em Tally! Well done!
You need some relief – it’s in the top right corner.
This Melz idiot sounds like one of those kind who was at that other idiot Rick Santorum meeting the other day. You know the idiot woman who said POTUS wasn’t her President because he is not qualified and he is a Muslim. There are some people who is so dam stupid you can’t talk too. This Melz idiot said name one thing he stands for and has follow through on, it’s a waste of time to list the things our POTUS has done because like that woman he or she will refuse to believe it. These people believe what their hate tells them to believe.
Agree, Anniebella. When hate takes hold of your mind, truth can’t enter in. People like Melz belong in the “can’t reach” category because racism has stopped their ears and closed their eyes.
So let me guess…
Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry were all half black?
I will be in attendance for his remarks at the Intel facility.
Lucky you! Please tell him “Jackie from Illinois says hello”!
And that everyone at TOD HAS HIS BACK.
Yes, please tell him exactly what Tally said, Lockewasright. We are a team here for him. Our TOD family has his back.HZ
Hi Lockwasright!
You lucky duck. Hope you, wife and kiddies are doing good.
Locke, take down every detail and tell ALL when you get back. We all wish we were there.
OMG. I was SO happy to hear that he was coming to PHX . I was ready to take a personal day and grab my son out of school. And then I heard it was at Intel. My heart sank because I knew that it wouldn’t be open to the public. I am So glad for you
You must come back and tell us what happened ….every last detail! I certainly hope that he gets back here before election day…I’ll be waiting! Have a GREAT TIME!
How did you get an invite?
THANK YOU CHIPS! FANTASTIC THREADS
John Cole
“But most of all, every time I hear him speak, I am still aware of all the things I disagree with him on, but think “That is a good man doing what he thinks is best.” That is really all you can ask for from someone, because as far as I can tell, I’m the only one who agrees with me 100% of the time. And as you all know, if you give me a week, I’ll disagree with myself.
We really don’t deserve him. We really don’t.”
I love that comment from John Cole. Heartfelt and true.
Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) is getting close to unveiling a proposed “clean” electric power standard – a plan President Obama admitted Tuesday night has not gained the traction that Obama had hoped.
“We are still finalizing what we are going to propose. I am planning to do that in the next few weeks,” Bingaman told E2Wire in the Capitol after Obama’s State of the Union address.

Newts Suoer PAC just put in a 6 million dollar ad buy, for Florida.
That is pretty significant.
Go Leroy!!
More money for Leroy = More ass kicking for Willard………. Point me in the direction of Leroy’s campaign page so I can donate……..Screw Willard!
That super pac is funded by the dude who owns The Venetian – Sheldon Adelson, who apparently is working with Bibi N to get a GOP into the Presidency so we can go to war with Iran.
Pretty scary shit – and definitely TREASONOUS.
Heard this on my way home tonight – FF to min 22:30 for the interview with Max Blumenthal:

Somebody should know about this! I can’t access this via my computer, but I certainly can read what you wrote!
If we as a country are so stupid to not re-elect the best POTUS in my lifetime, then I seriously need a hot foreign man to marry me and get me the fuck out before we become Amerikistan and I’m forced to wear whatever the fuck the insane faux-xtian right will force me to wear, and rent my uterus out for cannon fodder.
Amen! I’m moving to France if that happens……. Screw Romney, selling us off piece by piece to China and other godawful countries.—–nothing against the people of China, but China’s economic greed is ridiculous. Paraphrasing Ghandi: I like your people but not your greedy economics.
Good one – our people are good but the greed is bad.
Heading for Canada, myself.
A place for you here, Jackie.
I need to go with you Tally and Lisa. Seriously.HZ
Believe me, I’ve explored this Plan B scenario and the problem is most countries want younger people or very rich retirees. Getting into Canada is tough if you’re older unless you’ve got a huge portfolio. The only welcoming countries for seniors are in SA and a few other places. So we have to stand our ground here and fight like hell.
Tally, my son is 27, loves older gals and is a Canadian; bonus, we live in Vancouver.
raotflmao
Tally – Beautiful Princess Potty Mouth – you certainly have a way with words.
lololol Don’t ever change.
You’ll have to adopt me because I’m coming with you.
That milk joke wasn’t bad. It wasn’t hilarious, but it wasn’t as bad as some said….. It was more corny and cute than bad. I actually laughed again even though I was expecting it.
Right, Lisa. He knew it was cute and corny also. I know he and FLOTUS will have a good laugh on that one when they get home tonight.HZ
She’s really gonna tease him about that joke!
I loved the collective groan, and it just took everyone by surprise and took everyone out of character for a split second. It was great – the joke was corny, but the moment was great.
The joke was okay. Like someone said before we have a dam good President and America better realize it..
I’m sure POTUS and FLOTUS laugh about the split milk joke on their way home.
The milk joke broke the tension. He wasn’t trying to be Letterman, he was just trying to lighten things up a bit before he plunged on into the tough stuff. Our PBO can run up and down all the strings on the Stradivarius of his communication skills. One day he’s singing Al Green and playing with the audience, the next he’s delivering hard truths to his political enemies and giving hope to the American people. This is a man in control, a master of his formidable skills.
I thought it was cute. Made me think about his kids rolling their eyes at jokes told by Dad. My kids do it all the time and it never fails to crack me up.
It was cute.

A COMMENT FROM BALLOON JUICE ON WHY ANDREW SULLIVAN IS MAD
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
DCLaw1 – January 24, 2012 | 11:08 pm · Link
Oh DEAR GOD, Sully wanted to make sure Barack knew that he has a new boyfriend and he likes him sooooo much more.
http://andrewsullivan.thedaily…..ponse.html
“It was that rare event when the GOP response surpassed the actual State of the Union. It was what a sane Republican critique of this presidency would be. It began with a grace note on Obama’s courageous assault on bin Laden and the quiet dignity of his family life – avoiding the personal demonization of a well-liked president. …But by reminding us of the debt, and the deep need to tackle it, he reminded us that conservatism at its best is about bringing us back to reality. And the president’s maddening refusal to tackle the long-term debt and entitlement insolvency in the Bowles-Simpson opening – and his decision to keep these themes buried under a wave of new tax breaks in his speech tonight – gave Daniels an opening, where he outclassed the man who just left the stage.”
You’ll be sorry you alienated me, Barack! You’ll be sorry! Look how happy I am with Mitch now!
Unsurprising, but so disappointing. Poor Sully. Poor, poor, Sully…….. I won’t miss you. Good luck with the new baby daddy.
He does this all the time. All. The. Time. He can’t let go of those failed policies.
Funny how he spent time talking ’bout PBO’s long game and how dumb PBO’s critics were, but less than one week later he gets lumped into the “dumb critic ” section…….how sad.
They are all 2 penny flakes…fickle as hell…
It was always about them exploiting anything at all they can writing about this President…
It’s never been about truth, integrity or what’s best for our country…
Who knew Andrew Sullivan was this huge a coward…
It was clear by the time he started making the rounds to discuss his Newsweek article that some people had gotten to him and he was already lobbing disclaimers and weak defenses of what started off as a bold and almost spot on assessment of a great President…
Shame on Andrew…but then again, are people like him even capable of feeling these calibrating emotions any longer…
Someone need to tell Andrew that he and Mitch can go strolling down the road hand and hand to “H” as far as I’m concern. Or maybe Andrew want Newt or Romney, I really don’t give a dam. Either you support President Obama or you don’t. I’m sick of the B.S.
Sully has a short memory. He forget to mention that Daniels is responsible for some of this massive debt as George Bush’s inept budget director who did not include the wars in his budget.
Last night I read, don’t remember where, that Sullivan was reprimanded by the WH for not respecring the embargo on the SOTU. I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, this could explain Sullivan’s tantrum.
I want Krispy Kreme and Chick Fil A, right now, right now, right now!!! PBO’s passion made me work up an appetite.
Hello? Hello?! Am I alone in this room?………geez! Is it my breath?
Hey Lisa
Hey Iso!! How you doing?
I’ve just been scrolling back and forth over the threads, Kinda taking it all in. I’m getting ready for bed. I plan to watch it again tomorrow and read it to get the full meaning.
Awesome sauce!!! doesn’t even begin to describe Pres. Obama’s address this evening. How many times did he tell Congress
“STFU and do your jobs!!!”
It gets better the more you watch it…….sleep tight, see you tomorrow
Peace
Reading some reader reactions and emails to Sully – MOST taking him to task for his crankiness… one in particular:
“It did exactly what it needed to do, which was to make him sound like the reasonable adult in a town full of insolent children. So…what? He should have proposed another hopeless grand vision that would proceed to go nowhere and play right into a Republican narrative about his ineffectual, overreaching nature? Or he should frame himself, and democrats at large, as the sober party in Washington.
My 84 year old grandmother, who has been taking a 20 minute break from Fox news every week to call me and comment bitterly on what “that boy” (yeah she goes there) is doing to this country, just told me that she found it refreshing after listening to the Republican candidates’ insanity for 7 months. “He’ll get the job done,” she tells me! If she votes for him, the Republicans are in more trouble than they know.
You know when the grand vision will come? A year from today, when Obama’s back in office with, Newt willing, a democratic majority and republicans who may finally see that rank obstructionism isn’t a key to electoral success. You’re telling me that Obama’s second inaugural wouldn’t be one for this history books? You think we have a better chance at tax reform under Mitt Romney?
Buck up, Andrew! Have some faith in your own thesis – Obama’s playing the long game and doing it rather well.”
That’s right!
I have to say I have been scratching my head about the whining from Andrew Sullivan. I expect to get whiplash from Tweety because of the violently swings back and forth. But this nitpicking outrage from Andrew is just perplexing. Especially after he so aptly described President Obama’s strategy of taking the long view. It sounds like he is doing exactly what he was criticizing others for doing. So the commenter was spot on and the last line really sums it up perfectly.
Buck up, Andrew! Have some faith in your own thesis – Obama’s playing the long game and doing it rather well.”
Just WOW…this just an icing on the cake…..Our President was taking care business…While schooling the kids in Congress…
Like he said “BAD ASS”…lol

This is only a GOP fantasy!! And i’m sure they are burning up with jealousy over the competence and awesomeness of our President!!
How many ways does PBO have to say “don’t fuck with the kid?” In addition to point-by-point take down of all the talking points; he throws a new SEAL Team action into the mix just in case they say “OBL was soooo last year.” Damn, the repubs need to just give it up.

AP sources: U.S. military helicopter raid into Somalia frees American and Danish hostages
By Associated Press, Updated: Wednesday, January 25, 1:22 AM
MOGADISHU, Somalia — Two Western officials say that an American military helicopter raid into Somalia has freed an American and a Dane held hostage in Somalia.
The overnight raid by at least two U.S. helicopters resulted in a shootout with the pirate captors and the freeing of the two hostages. That is according to two Western officials who spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.
This POTUS is a badass. While morons are bitching at insane Santorum events that he’s not legitimate, he got OBL and then minutes before the SOTU he sent our seals to rescue the U.S. and Danish hostagez from Somalia. It’s like he keeps telling the ignoramus: How many times do I have to tell you; don’t fuck with me. He’s a foreign policy juggernaut.
There was a hostage rescue in Somalia that happened tonight apparently!!
Our President kicked butts here tonight for the world to see, and still was completing a mission while he spoke. That is what I love about him. He can chew gum and walk, and sing, hug, look fine, love our First Lady, go to school for Malia and Sasha’s Teacher Conference, take Bo shopping and still be a great CIC, wow who would not want to keep such a great leader. We love you, Mr. President.HZ
Thank you, Chips, for that photo! I was so touched by that hug when I watched SOTU, and kept hoping that photo was captured. Simply Beautiful. I’m sure Magnificent Souza caught all that we saw in that moment.
Pete, if you’re hearing me, could you share those fab snaps of that particular moment w/ us? Pretty please!

Weren’t you guys sick of Mitch McConnell. I mean just to look at that man, YUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The camera kept showing on him, Cantor, and since that thing Boehner were sitting behind the President we couldn’t help but see his face, but this will be the last time, because next year when POTUS give his SOTU speech Speaker Pelosi will be sitting back there with VP Biden. HURRAY HURRAY
it was so funny to see poor boner trying to decide when he should applaud. i think he was sleeping or just is such a dope, he couldn’t stay focused–you’d hear the crowd start to clap, and then you’d see boner’s hands come up, sort of tentative. you’re right, we’ll remember him, but not miss him.
Funny- that is why Halperin gave the Presudent a B- he thought the Presidents worst moment was when the camera kept showing Cantor!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday night endorsed President Obama’s call to change Senate rules to ensure up-or-down votes on judicial and executive branch nominees.
Obama requested the rules change during his State of the Union address.

The U.S. military rescued two hostages, including one American, from Somali criminals, the White House announced Wednesday. According to NBC News, two Navy SEALs teams conducted a helicopter raid on the compound where the two hostages were held.
“Thanks to the extraordinary courage and capabilities of our Special Operations Forces, yesterday Jessica Buchanan was rescued and she is on her way home. As Commander-in-Chief, I could not be prouder of the troops who carried out this mission, and the dedicated professionals who supported their efforts,” President Obama said in a statement.
The raid helps explain a moment during the State of the Union address, where President Obama stopped to thank his Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta on his walk up the aisle.

This should be on every channel, fucking crickets!
Well, our President gives a speech, cool and calm, and we have a raid going on. Is he the best or what?
He is a cool customer! Btw- CNN said right before the speech on an open mic, he thanked Leon and said good job tonite. Hmmm!
Bob Woodward? Really? What a prick!
And he is coming out with book this fall, so we need to be prepared for that mess!
He is Pompous..

The Wall Street Journal reports that GM will attack critics during a Capitol Hill hearing Wednesday.
“General Motors Co. Chief Executive Dan Akerson is preparing to go on the offensive against Congressional critics who say GM’s battery-powered Chevrolet Volt is a government-financed misfire, according to people familiar with the company’s plans,” the paper reports.

Wow! That high! Sweet!
Maybe they should take a look at the Blueprint For An America Built to Last for details.
and they would know because . . . .
Exactly!
Okay, I watched the SOTU twice now. Between all the GUM CHEWING by congress and having to watch the Speaker behind the President…I am convinced the Speaker had a little “dip” just between the teeth and gum.
I agree. He was smacking and licking his lips like a true lush.
Safe travels Mr. President. I sure do wish that I worked at Intel. I would love to see our President in person.
Me too
Time for Mikas Dad. Doom and gloom. He is part of that big global group. Google it!

Poll: Florida lurches toward Newt
By ALEXANDER BURNS | 1/25/12 6:26 AM EST
The latest numbers from Quinnipiac Univeristy show Newt Gingrich overtaking Mitt Romney in a state Romney led by 12 points earlier this month:
The final tally is 36 percent for Romney to 34 percent for Gingrich among likely voters in the Florida Republican presidential primary, but Gingrich gets 40 percent to 34 percent for Romney among likely voters surveyed after the South Carolina primary.
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum receives 13 percent to 10 percent for Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul. …
Romney is viewed by more likely primary voters as best able to handle the economy and most sharing voters’ values, while Gingrich is seen by more voters as having the knowledge and experience to be president, being a strong leader and better at handling foreign policy.
Romney’s vote share has been essentially stable since Jan. 9, when Quinnipiac found him drawing support from 36 percent of likely Florida primary voters. Whether Gingrich can sustain his South Carolina bounce, and whether that bounce is large enough to wipe out Romney’s advantage in early votes, remains to be seen.
Go Noot Go
He will need a big turnout to take out Romney but I think Nootie can do it.
An article on income inequality that merits a second look? Some 1%-ers want to dialogue…
Jan. 25 (Bloomberg) — Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk wants to talk about income inequality. So does Irish billionaire Denis O’Brien and Indian billionaire Vikas Oberoi.
The three are among a contingent of at least 70 billionaires who are joining more than 2,500 business and political leaders at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, this week, according to a list of attendees and promotional materials obtained by Bloomberg News. A half-dozen of the richest participants, interviewed in advance of the conference, say economic disparity needs to be addressed.

“We have seen in 2011 what ignoring this aspect can result in,” Premji wrote in an e-mail. “If we don’t take cognizance of it and try to solve this problem, it can create a chaotic upheaval globally.”

Good morning TOD. I just perused the Internet this morning and the conventional wisdom is that President Obama’s SOTU speech knocked it out of the park. It put the Repubs back on their heels and again showed who the “brilliant” adult in the room is.
Happy Trails(Safety & Blessing) to our President as he travels the country and presents his vision to the public.
DD4 you are so correct. Morning Joe is so distraught he won’t let anyone on his panel speak. Keeps interupting them with GOP talking points. HE KNOWS PBO ….hit it out of the Park compared to Cayman Islands Mitt.
Goodness gracious, our President really IS Superman!!!
I love waking up to great news..here are a couple
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
As President Obama delivered his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, a group of 50 swing voters armed with dial meters recorded strongly favorable reactions to his proposals on taxes, renewable energy, overcoming partisan divisions and defending the middle class, according to the pollsters who supervised the study.
The group, made up of Democrats, Republicans and independents, including both McCain and Obama voters from 2008, gave the president significantly higher marks after the speech than before on whether he will stand up for the middle class, whether he can be trusted on energy policy and on measures of empathy, such as whether he shares voters’ values and “makes me hopeful,” said Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg.

BREAKING NEWS! The Navy Seals that rescued the woman and Danish man from Somalia are the same ones that took out Bin Laden. Holy Shit don’t screw with them!!! Good Job Seal Team!!!!!

The President called that girls Dad from the Capitol after SOTU.

Okay so excited I am gonna burst. I am OFF all day on Friday…it seems the “Newt” will be speaking to a Jewish Republican Group not a MILE from my house that day. I am going with a huge group early to take up all the parking spaces. We are also going to protest with signs.
I am taking suggestions for the sign I will hold..in Hebrew of course. You all are a very talented group with a huge wit. Please post your best and I will translate them to Hebrew and carry those.
Thank you in advance.
OH! What fun! let me ponder……
Fir me, your sign can say: “NEWT, IT’S OVER, YOU CAN GO HOME NOW”.
Hi, All! I’m checking to see what is being talked about, so I haven’t officially signed in here yet today. Here’s another excerpt on ‘income inequality’, found at BBC World.
…
The writer Francis Fukuyama – who once spied the end of history – has in a recent essay pointed out that globalisation has eroded the middle class which is the bulwark of a liberal democratic society. He argues that democracy is put at risk if the middle class senses the system is not working for them.
President Obama’s clarion call is “to bring manufacturing back”. There are echoes of this in Francois Hollande’s pledge to overturn the dominance of finance in favour of real industry.
…..
In the United States President Obama senses that globalisation has not delivered for the middle class and unashamedly wants to to use the tax system to keep jobs in the United States. The question is whether Europe, with 27 million out of work, will offer incentives to keep jobs in Europe? French unemployment figures are already at a 12-year high and mounting.

A U.S. official says the Navy SEAL team that rescued two hostages in Somalia was the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden.
SEAL Team Six parachuted into Somalia under cover of darkness Wednesday and rescued an American woman and a Danish man from an outdoor camp where they were being held by Somali pirates, the official said..
The same team executed the mission last May in which al-Qaida leader bin Laden was killed.

When I saw PBO giving Panetta some love last night I wonder why. It seemed kind of unusual and HRC was standing nearby, too. Now we know the story. Amazing all around.
I can only imagine what it might be like to receive a phone call from the President of the United States, immediately after hearing him give that speech…. I would be on my knees in prayers of gratitude, and praying for his constant protection.

Political Animal – Daniels is the serious one?
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels delivered the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union address, to the delight of GOP insiders who still hope he might run for president. The national platform offered Daniels an opportunity to back up the hype — pundits routinely praise the former Bush budget director as a serious, thoughtful conservative, and this was his chance to prove it.

Rise and Shine everyone

From ThinkProgress: WTH does THIS mean??????
A top adviser to Mitt Romney told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell that if Romney doesn’t win Florida, GOP elites will try to find another candidate who can stop Newt Gingrich. “Look, if Mitt Romney can not win here in Florida then we’re going to have to try to reinvent the smoke-filled room which has been democratized by all these primaries,” the adviser said. “And we’re going to have try to come with someone as an alternative to Newt Gingrich who could be Jeb Bush, Mitch Daniels, someone.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more heartfelt hug from a President or to a President. Look at her face and how much she appreciates him. Such a genuine fondness there and a bond. Gabbi’s arrival in the chamber was the most moving moment I’ve ever seen at a SOU. Beautiful. Wish her the BEST!!
Just looked at the photo again….best Presidential hug ever
