Hey, I’m signing in at just the right time to congratulate you, GGail. Congrats on being the 1st one ready! You & I know just how to sneak in when Chips Chica has tucked the trophies away.
So I have been plugging away at Election Toolkit pages we can use to get our hands on information about the causes that matter in the upcoming elections.
I have read many comment about how folks don’t understand ACA or are afraid of it. I made a page that might help. This is a rough draft, there are holes in it, but it is a start. I find that once I make a page with places for stusf (like great tweets or endorsements from the medical community), then it is easier to add stuff as it comes into this amazing blog.
This is wonderful and tremendously helpful, WIW. I feel as if you deserve a big award for modelling the president’s quote about persistence from the last thread. Two things: 1) As states publish their voter eligibility requirements, we need to post them on your site. PA still has this legislation on hold so I have not been able to get them to you. With luck, the state will stick to the old rules (please God); 2) Just a plea–as anyone runs into Spanish translations for talking points, could they please send them to you for posting? If we’re going to be making aggressive efforts with Latino communities, we need materials. Again, THANK YOU WIW, from the bottom of my heart for all you do.
It really isn’t that hard to make these pages once you have made one. Plus I have this research staff (know as the TOD blog) so it really is a snap. I am happy to implement the voter Reg. requirements and spanish versions. If I miss them as blog postings send them to whatisworking@gmail.com

Interview as Train Wreck: Susan G. Komen Foundation meets Andrea Mitchell
Professionals in crisis communication will be talking about this interview for years. Watch the clip. (It’s excruciating.) Read my analysis, which won’t capture everything. Then add your observations in the comments.
Andrea Mitchell of NBC News interviews Nancy Brinker, CEO and founder of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, about the foundation’s decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood’s breast cancer screening programs:
VIDEO OF THE INTERVIEW
Brinker was completely unprepared for this interview. She was placed in a situation that she seemed not to understand. Her estimation of her ability to re-describe an event that began two days earlier was wildly off base. To the degree that she had one, her message might be summarized as: “Forget what we said earlier, ignore what’s happening out there, for this is what I am saying now.” From her first words (“It’s a mischaracterization of our goals, our mission…”) Brinker communicated that she did not understand the forces that had brought her to MSNBC’s studios and put her in that chair opposite Andrea Mitchell.
I mean this literally: Brinker did not know what she was doing there. She thought she was going on air to correct some misbegotten story line that an excitable press, the wounded executives at Planned Parenthood and ideologues in the pro-choice movement had cooked up. In her delusional state, the decision had nothing to do with the politics of abortion. Nothing! The reality was that a board member from her own organization had told the press that it did:
Andrea was too soft on Brinker. She allowed her to use too much double-talk. And that didn’t work – we can read between the lines and hanging sentences.
SGK is gonna be watched very closely now with a cloud hanging over it’s head for a long time – especially when the PP grants expire in a year.
GGail, though I can’t stand Andrea Mitchell, I think her interviewing incompetence actually helped here because Brinker dug herself deeper in a hole the longer she spoke. She was extremely poorly prepped for this interview. As I told my husband, when she started talking about “metrics” she was dead. You do not address a topic that has touched off raw emotions among a broad swath of the American public with words like that. She looked cold, heartless and completely devoid of compassion–a female Romney. Major fail of media savvy.
They are toooo precious! Thanks aamom for posting these smart and talented young black men!
They are our leaders of tomorrow and we need to encourage them and show them some love.
I’m ordering the shirt and emailing this to family and friends!
YEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAH….I GOT HOME JUST IN TIME TO SEE PBO ON THIS INTERVIEW…AWESOME…HAD TO BUY BABY GIFTS TODAY FOR FRIENDS. I TRIED ONE ON…MY BIG TOE LOOKED BEAUTIFUL! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!
That was good.
Not to sound too emo but I do wish the fact that he ended DADT and enacting health care reform would have been mentioned, that was a big deal.
Written by Curtis Mayfield — he’s a big music producer, no?
Yep. Curtis Mayfield was an accomplished R&B producer. He died in 1999.
I love these young men’s creativity and energy. I hope this brings them a whole heaping of success as well as exposure for our youth to engage in this re-election.
UT, I’m making a good clean bet with you. No money whatsoever involved.
If Patriots lose, you have to write a short open love letter to Mitt, Rick, Newt and Paul singing their praises, expressing your love/admiration for them – The letter has to be posted here by 11:30PM tonight.
If the Giants lose, I’ll have to come up with a love letter for the GOP candidates…
DF, thank you for this information. I haven’t said anything but we use to live in AZ. My husband was born there, my oldest son was born in Phoenix and we have many relatives and friends there. I haven’t been back since this whole thing with immigration started. You are an inspiration to me. My of our relatives there are repubs. So we don’t discuss any of this. Always glad for your analysis. Thanks for all you do!!!!

Hey guys in addition to Chipstick’s link, I believe http://www.msnbc.com is airing the game LIVE. Not sure about the pre-game show but you can check if you want to.
Hopefruit, I laughed out loud when they showed the first Laurer, Obama interview. Pres. Obama had on the same shirt from back in 2008!! He so NOT cares about fashion. I love it!!!
O………..kay. We’ll have to watch the rest of the interview tomorrow on the today show. That was a very short pre interview-interview. Past years have been longer.
It’s because they can’t find anything negative to hammer him with so lets move the rest of the interview to the Today Show because they get like 3 Million viewers vs 30 Million viewers for the Super Bowl.
WASHINGTON — Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the nation’s leading anti-breast-cancer charity, has insisted that its since-reversed decision to pull funding from Planned Parenthood arose from a routine change in criteria for grant eligibility that had nothing to do with abortion politics.
But a Komen insider told HuffPost on Sunday that Karen Handel, Komen’s staunchly anti-abortion vice president for public policy, was the main force behind the decision to defund Planned Parenthood and the attempt to make that decision look nonpolitical.
“Karen Handel was the prime instigator of this effort, and she herself personally came up with investigation criteria,” the source, who requested anonymity out of concern that speaking publicly would do irreparable harm to the source’s career, told HuffPost. “She said, ‘If we just say it’s about investigations, we can defund Planned Parenthood and no one can blame us for being political.’”
Emails between Komen leadership on the day the Planned Parenthood decision was announced, which were reviewed by HuffPost under the condition they not be published, confirm the source’s description of Handel’s sole “authority” in crafting and implementing the Planned Parenthood policy.
Handel’s strategy to cut off Planned Parenthood involved drafting new guidelines that would prevent Komen from funding any organization that was under investigation by local, state or federal authorities. Since Planned Parenthood is currently the target of a congressional inquiry prompted by House Republicans into the way it uses government funds, the family planning provider would have been immediately disqualified from receiving new Komen grants.
After the initial uproar when news of the decision broke, the story that Komen told the public was that the cut-off was unrelated to a political agenda against Planned Parenthood
Linda, I’ve read a couole of follow-ups that describe the actions of SGK as NOT REALLY a reversal. It’s just spin. Handel doesn’t intend to give funds to support Planned Parenthood, regardless of what the SGK spokesperson says.
Hateful, she and the rest are just hateful. I know plenty of now grown women, who got their first gyn exams at Planned Parenthood. Got REAL instructions on birth control so that there would NOT be an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy.
I don’t have any stats, but I think Planned Parenthood does more to prevent abortions than any of these Right Wing nutjobs ever have. AND, it’s mighty funny how the RWs fight to keep women from having abortions but don’t seem to give a damn after the babies get here!
PBO IS LOOKING MIGHTY FINE…HE NEEDS TO DIP HIS FINGERS IN SOME CHIP DIP…AND GET RID OF THAT SUIT JACKET! LET’S MAKE THAT VEGGIE DIP SINCE FLOTUS IS THERE! LOL…GOTTA’ KEEP THAT BROCOLLI ON THE TABLE SO PBO ISN’T GROUNDED! I’M FOR THE PATRIOTS…WE’LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS…!..:)
Blue checked lives!!! He was in the same blue checked in the clip from 2008, lol. I think it’s his Lucky Shirt and will not be replaced. President Obama was impressive and smooth, as always. The interview seemed too short, but then I could look at and listen to him all day long, all week long. Lauer tricked a little bit, tune in Today tomorrow for the exciting conclusion. Today tomorrow, ha ha ha.
Why does every interview, press conf. have to always be about war?
The public can’t even enjoy a Sunday interview with the President before the Super Bowl w/o the first question being about starting another war.

Sue, I think you’re right b/c if a war starts the election will be about the war–not the economy.
An Willard always tries to b/s the public that PBO is not a strong supporter of Israel… With all the people dying who could be save with just a few dollars a day…we spend so much fighting war year after year after year.
Stay strong Mr. President…God’s got your back…
He looked fabulous! I hope he rips off those dress clothes ASAP and gets into some sweats or running pants and can relax with his friends and family! Maybe even splooge a little salsa on his shirt Relax and not be consumed by the world today..that’s my wish for him.

So here is my humble attempt.

Are they livetreaming the interview?
The President is NEXT!!
I’m doing cartwheels!
Hey guys in addition to Chipstick’s link, I believe http://www.msnbc.com is airing the game LIVE. Not sure about the pre-game show but you can check if you want to.
Wow, Lenny Kravitz AND Pres. Obama?? WHAT???
I don’t need a superbowl. I will have already had mine!!! WHEEEEEEW BABY!!!
I read that Lenny is 50 years old. Boy does he look terrific!
From the wiki — Leonard Albert “Lenny” Kravitz (born May 26, 1964), so that would make him 47. Not quite fifty, but STILL fine, in my opinion!!
POTUS looking fresh and rested. What a cutie.
Wow, the makeup they did on PBO look so natural on him.
POTUS is on NOW!!!
I love My President! He is wearing a nice new neatly pressed shirt today
Its the same shirt HF2
It seems likely he has several dozen or maybe a closet full…. It is the right look for his handsome self!
Hopefruit, I laughed out loud when they showed the first Laurer, Obama interview. Pres. Obama had on the same shirt from back in 2008!! He so NOT cares about fashion. I love it!!!
I know right! I laughed out loud when I saw that. He could care less. That’s our guy. There is absolutely nothing pretentious about this man
Yes, PBO I agree with you. Tom Brady is hot hot hot HOT!!!!!!!
Too funny…. President Obama has the same shirt on he had on 3 years ago.
He is so cute!!!
I noticed that also. Very funny. Groundhog day.
Oh thanks donna for reminding me – I didn’t realize it was the same shirt!
Seriously, I bet he has a huge drawerful of those shirts!! He looks GREAT. And relaxed.
That’s right Mr. President – toot your horn!!!!
swoon. and nothing else to say.
POTUS looked absolutely gorgeous.
What a hottie!
w00t that was fun! thanks for the linky chips!
Wait wait did he say they will air the rest of it on Monday.
MONDAY? That’s not fair. They leave us hanging like that? Folks want MORE.
O………..kay. We’ll have to watch the rest of the interview tomorrow on the today show. That was a very short pre interview-interview. Past years have been longer.
It’s a sneaky attempt to maintain some ratings thru monday.
You bet ya what alse, however I did not hear any sound bites that the MSM can use on PBO.
It’s because they can’t find anything negative to hammer him with so lets move the rest of the interview to the Today Show because they get like 3 Million viewers vs 30 Million viewers for the Super Bowl.
I hate our media!
Actually I think they want to drag some of the ratings thru Monday. Making money off PBO.

It ended up in a run off so I got to vote against her Twice…..

Cool, I’m okay. Now I can ‘not give a damn’ about the big game. Unless of course, Lenny Kravitz, comes back on. Woooo hooo…
I love our President.
The President looked so relaxed and peaceful.
What an absolutely gorgeous man in every way.
My heart skipped a couple beats when he came on.

I’M NOT WATCHING THE GAME…MAKING DINNER AND WATCHING MOVIES!
He looked fabulous! I hope he rips off those dress clothes ASAP and gets into some sweats or running pants and can relax with his friends and family! Maybe even splooge a little salsa on his shirt
Relax and not be consumed by the world today..that’s my wish for him.
Obama was very crisp during the interview. Good answers.

Hey donna -Thanks : ) I’ve also reposted on the next thread – let’s see if UT will take on my challenge!!!!
