HEY, Just got off my volunteer team leader call. WOOOO HOOOOTTT!! If you haven’t already, now is the time to get involved with the campaign ya’ll!
YOU won’t regret it!
Me too! My team has two meetings this week. We hope to double the size of our team! Wish us luck.
Good luck to all of you!
How are you doing VC, is life insanely busy these days???
Me too! It’s hard work to devote time to OFA Neighborhood Teams, but this is how we will beat their $ machine.
Yes indeedy, first for you, Arnie! Well done!
Thanks — this is the second time I’ve done it, just passing by, and what do you know — a new thread to inaugurate!
1st maybe ? good evening TOD family..Hey Chips
oooh, so close!!! Good job, Arnie!!
Oh well maybe next time :0) ..really don’t care for Chris Hayes..filling in for Maddow..t.v was on mute
Yep, saw CH was hosting and changed the channel to HGTV until LO comes on.
USA – So, Rove, who outed a CIA Agent & enabled a President to lie Americans into an illegal war is upset by the truth about Detroit. #SICKO— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 07, 2012
We must never forget.
Well said Bob!
Just have to say I love reading your tweets. Big fan!
Thank you Julie & Kari!
I still hope against hope that one day, Rove ends up in jail. Could be for a future or past offense, I don’t care.
As do I.
That makes at least three of us!
Congrats Arnie..way to go isonprize..let’s go !!
Bringing this over from the last post, in case you missed it:
One of our Australian friends here asked me to post this:
She runs a company that is currently looking for Telesales and Appointment Setters whose job would be to cold call businesses in Australia (working Monday to Friday Sydney local time).
She’s a seriously major PBO supporter, and would love to find someone from the blog – or a family member/friend – who is qualified in this area and who would be interested in one of the jobs.
If you’re interested, just email me at email@example.com and I’ll hook you up with her.
Our friend would also love to buy some items from the OFA store, but needs the help of someone here to do so – again, if you can assist, email me
Chica, you little minx, you. That last ten seconds is what has the ReThugs tied up in knots!! Their heads are exploding!! LOLOLOLOL
Isonprize, are you alleging I added that 10 seconds??
NO, nope, uh uh, not you. Never the innocent, “I don’t know nothing ’bout makin’ YOUTUBE videos” Chica.
NOT OUR CHIPS!!! You wouldn’t adulterate someone else’s hard work like that. Nah, not you.
Thanks for believing me isonprize, trust is very important to me
And this year’s beat actress award goes to ……
And the year hasn’t even started yet.
Pardon me — I’m the party pooper — but is this an actual endorsement by Clint Eastwood? If not, it’s just the sort of thing the wingnuts will latch on to. You know: “Obots falsify Eastwood endorsement!” etc. Besides, if Eastwood hasn’t endorsed Obama/Biden, he could make a lot of noise about being misrepresented.
Oh my, Chips!!!
This will sting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
USA – If you think Rove was upset at the Eastwood ad, then be sure to watch the last 10 secs of youtube.com/watch?v=HPz2RJ… #LandslideOBAMA2012— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 07, 2012
Get ready to rumble
Seriously, is that going to be a new ad? I wish it could be true. Tell me it is true.
Okay bob I retweeted at least 3 from you tonight! You are on fire! Keep going my friend!
Press on my friend!
And, so I must …
@davidaxelrod @Messina2012 @BarackObama @pfeiffer44 Just in case you missed the last 10 sec of Chrysler ad – youtu.be/HPz2RJBt3e8 — Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 07, 2012
Obama/Biden & Chips\Bobfr 2012! Legendary!
You’re very kind, l&l!
Long long day, very grateful to be home and here!
LOVE the new ending, Chips!! Hope the NFL police don’t come after you.
I keep watching this ad. It’s really such an interesting set of visual and audio cues from start to finish. It’s very dramatic in every frame. He says it’s not a game. The image of the WH with protestors really threw me. That’s what makes it political along with the allusion to the partisan rancor on TV. The idea that we all pull together is a very Democratic – and very PBO – theme. It’s certainly NOT a GOP theme in any way, shape or form. Rove and crew are wetting their beds because it so obviously expresses the Democratic point of view of out of many, one, and HOPE.
“LOVE the new ending, Chips!! Hope the NFL police don’t come after you.:
They will Meta, they will!!!!
I saved me a copy just in case. And the NFL police can pry it from my cold hard drive before I give it up.
Yeah, the ReThugs are apoplectic over this ad. I firmly, firmly, FIRMLY believe, to my core, that Clint Eastwood knew exactly what he was doing.
You can not tell me that Clint saw the final cut of that ad and didn’t know the impact that it would have. I’m not buying it. HE KNEW. And that’s what is eating away at the ReThugs. CLINT KNEW!!!
I was thinking when I just saw this latest 1/2 Time In America Ad a la Chip’s remix that it only helps Eastwood and everyone else who wants a lot of people to see their movies..to have a strong effervescent America!
CNN’s feeder healine.. “Were Politics Buried Inside Eastwood’s Half Time Commercial?” Poor widdle rove the pig stye was “offended by it”. Bwawawawawaaa
Ah Tien, you have me roaring!!! Jeez, better save it to my hard drive too …. hopefully it’s not gone already
TienLe, I am ready to sacrifice everything to make sure the NFL police will never get their hands on you or your hard drive.
I forgot to add a caviar: Provided that you will share with me your saved copy because I still haven’t figured out how to save it on my hard drive.
You and I are on the same wave, meta. I just re-watched that video 2x, and the wording is just too Obama-like PBO has continuously used that same wording pre-election and afterward. Has anyone seen any indication from Eastwood himself in light of all the indignation from rethugs, as to whether his message is non-partisan, pro-Obama, or whatever? I’d really love to know what he thinks of the effect his commercial has had on everyone.
I love it too, Meta! Excellent ending, CC! Way to wrap it up for any viewers who might have been in doubt.
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you, Chips.
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you back!!
What made this half-time commercial soooooo sweet is that Clint Eastwood is a republican. That alone is what set the RW noise machine into Gin-rich’s space. )
Oh Chips, love the last 10 seconds! Now how could I have missed before during that the 5 other times I watched the ad? Well done!
I missed those last 10 seconds the first time too lovingandlaughing, I just don’t know how. Maybe my eyesight is failing me?
Luckily your creativity, sharp mind and quick wit are all going strong! Make an eye doctor appointment though please. Love ya!
Love it…Love it…..I was actually looking for Obama logo last night…then..I was thinking just today after watching the video about 100000000000 times…..Chip may just do the trick…..and what do you know…here it is…and this Is the One I will be sharing with friends and family
Thank you Chips.. (hugs)
i know–we watched the ad last night and were stunned when the closer was chrysler logos! we thought for sure it was a pbo ad!
Totally seconded! Chipsticks is unbelievable! I hope the OFA is paying attention to the TOD and the exceptional creativity that Chipsticks displays, daily, on this site.
I gotta figure out a way to save a copy to one of my hard drives.
Jonathan (Capehart) is on Lawrence NOW, and that dude from the newspaper in Vegas, Jon Ralston.
Hahahahahaha. Good one Chips. GOP clowns / teabaggers / birthers / rightwingers heads exploding in 3….2…..1.
Truly “Mourning” in America for those trolls!
Good evening, TOD family. I have kept up with all the threads, but no time to post anything. We are in VA this week with our daughter. However, for the weekend we went on to northern VA to see friends and go to an annual Super Bowl party. Had an experience I want to share…..made me feel good.
I had to go to the grocery store (local Giant) to get ingredients to make my salad for the party. As I was going in, a man (holding a clip board) asked if I would sign a petition for George Allen. I said, “I don’t live here now, but even if I did, I wouldn’t sign your petition for George Allen.” I think he was so shocked he had no reply. Fine by me……..made my day!!!
George Allen has a primary challenge from a tea partier. She’s not really doing much, but at least he’s got some heat on him from his right before he faces Tim Kaine.
I bet that felt good!!!! Hope you are having a good time!
I wish the last ten seconds could have been seen by the millions who watched the superbowl – GREAT JOB!
Oh they will be seen by many. Chips has a special touch when it comes to YouTube videos going viral!
Even if they didn’t see it the logo at the end, they GOT the message.
you little minx. will the youtube police now descend on you ?
Awesome commercial — I didn’t see the game, not a football fan, so I’m glad I god to see this.
Wow…President Obama…won Big…without spending a dime on this ad…:-)
LOL. Dirty harry went ahead and made his (and ours) day.
A little more on the ad.
It’s impossible to plumb Mr. Eastwood’s intent. One can read his statement to Fox several ways, as we all have. But, yes, whether or not he considers himself “affiliated” with PBO is almost irrelevant. The ad was what it was. They could’ve gone in any number of different directions with the ad, but instead made the ad we saw last night. No, it didn’t have “Obama/Biden 2012″ at the end. But it didn’t have to. There was one political party that wanted to save Detroit, and with it millions of jobs and possibly the world economy, and one party that wanted to let the industry go bankrupt and be swept up in a Bain-type “reorganization”. Who was on which side is well known. And if those on the “let it die” side had had their wish, last night’s ad would not have been made. The ad speaks in a way that statements after the fact don’t and can’t.
Nail (or rethugs), meet the hammer.
And if those on the “let it die” side had had their wish, last night’s ad would not have been made.
I really do appreciate you and everyone else’s outlook on the ad. I liked the ad. And I guess you summed up my main point as well – Eastwood is almost irrelevant to the ad, IMO. I guess I cannot get passed my side-eye view of Eastwood. He is a right-winger in my book, who had some kind of scheduling issue and couldn’t go get an award from the WH given to him by POTUS. So, he landed on my shitlist. And no Super Bowl ad can erase him off my list.
But alas, that should not deflect from the impact of the ad. I hope the people of MI have wised up from their rightward swing from the midterms and will land back on our side. Romney is not his father.
I too, vero, I too. What were they thinking in 2010 ?
I hope the people of MI have wised up from their rightward swing from the midterms and will land back on our side.
Quite frankly, I think the Democrats had a very incoherent message leading up the midterms and didn’t give a strong and compelling reason to keep them in power. Folks were feeling so frustrated and insecure that the “sky is falling” Republicans played into the insecurities of the American people at that time, very slyly. Then all year the emoprogs were screaming that POTUS has failed us, the Democratic Party is weak, and blah blah blah. It was a bad scene for our side.
I didn’t see the ad; as of yet I did not even rerun it from this site.
However, I did read the transcript.
To me it looked like it was lifted verbatim from a PBO speech.
@ByronTau @politico Why did u post 8-day old PBO poll story by Josh Kraushaar on ur blog today & ignore his PBO story from today?? contd..— Chips (@___Chips___) February 07, 2012
@ByronTau @politico contd…. Was it because his 8-day old poll story was negative and today's was VERY positive? Just curious.— Chips (@___Chips___) February 07, 2012
@___Chips___ Actually, you're correct. I did not mean to post an 8 day old story. That was sloppy.— Byron Tau (@ByronTau) February 07, 2012
Ok. Here u go: tiny.cc/9m72x MT @ByronTau @___Chips___ Actually, ur correct. Did not mean to post 8 day old story. That was sloppy— Chips (@___Chips___) February 07, 2012
@ByronTau Will u correct today's @Politico blog & replace 8-day old Josh Kraushaar story with his post today? Thanks. tiny.cc/9m72x— Chips (@___Chips___) February 07, 2012
Awesome! LOL. I used to read politico44 daily, throughout the day. Then they got Julie Mason and I stopped. She was so snarky and passive aggressive. Glad you’re messing with this guy.
Oh crikey Vero, Julie Mason made my skin crawl …. if she heard about Michelle Obama eating a burger it was her lead story. That was her definition of political reporting. Pulitzer stuff.
Go get ‘em Chica, GO GET ‘EM!!!!
Thank you Chips for your continued bugging of Mr. Tau. Can’t believe he acknowledged his mistake.
Yeah Marilyn, the acknowledgement was wacky – and it’s not the first. I have a strong feeling he’s beginning to feel very uncomfortable about his Politico orders, but so far he’s obeying them. I suppose if he stops, he’s out of work.
Chips to tau – Go ahead and make my day, you punk. Bang, bang.
I read that on my timeline and YAYAY’d for you!! He’s such a little twerp and you smushed him flat. I wonder when he’s graduating from high school?
A leaping Hi-Five and Chest Bump to you Chips!! You are FI-YAH!!!
Ms Chips, you are awesome for confronting this jerk! And the “new” version of the video is perfect! Thanks again for all you do.
When I saw that ad, like so many, I thought “Thank you President Obama”. This was a Chrysler ad and they can do whatever the “F” they want with THEIR MONEY, after all, PBO bailed them out and they should celebrate the fact that they have recovered against the wishes of Robme and the GOP.
What is THIS-
The Obama campaign has organized an emergency conference call of its National Finance Committee to announce a major change in the campaign, Democratic sources say. The nature of the changes was being closely held by campaign officials, pending completion of the call.
patience Jovie. Patience….
Ok, ok , what is it? I want to know! LOL!
Just saw that too Jovie …. but it was Byron Tau’s Politico blog, so I wouldn’t be alarmed.
Then, take us off of DEFCON 4 and recall our Bombers!
PBO will announce Byron Tau is his 2012 VP pick??
Not to judge a book by its cover, but Mr. Tau has as much of a “punch me” face as Glenn Beck. Something about the fleshiness and that insipid grin.
Not only that but, he thinks he is being fair!
I think it’s about the super pacs.
Perhaps it’s about this – just received via email:
“I wrote something for our blog about our decision to support Priorities USA, the Super PAC that can help neutralize the avalanche of special-interest spending to defeat President Obama. Every supporter should read it; it’s pasted below.
I just want to add something for you specifically about your role in all of this.
We decided to do this because we can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads.
It’s a real risk.
In 2011, the Super PAC supporting Mitt Romney raised $30 million from fewer than 200 contributors. Ninety-six percent of what they’ve spent so far, more than $18 million, has been on attack ads. The main engine of Romney’s campaign has an average contribution of roughly $150,000.
That’s why it’s up to us — the grassroots organization — to win this election where we have the real advantage, and that’s on the ground. More than 1.3 million Americans have already donated. Our average donation is $55, and 98 percent are $250 or less.
The stakes are too important to play by two different sets of rules. If we fail to act, we concede this election to a small group of powerful people intent on removing the President at any cost.”
And, my response to Jim Messina:
@Messina2012 Regarding "Priorities USA" – FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE. We are in a fight unlike any since 1861-1865. You made the correct decision.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 07, 2012
More than once, and without an ounce of hyperbole, you’ve seen me write that what the Republic faces in 2012 is the gravest threat since 1861. It’s not a joke. It’s real, and it’s being funded by the Koch Brothers and others. We know it. We know SCOTUS enabled it with Citizens United. We are not going to allow them to win. No way. No how. Ever.
USA – if you think the threat to our Republic is any less than it was in 1861, you're delusional. theobamadiary.com/2012/02/06/hal… #LandslideOBAMA2012— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 07, 2012
The only difference is, the Confederates are afraid of today’s Union Army!
They certainly are, Jovie.
I wrote something similar in one of rootless_e’s articles over at TPV. Since the GOP forced Newt to stop running the Bain ads, Romney has been lying like there was no tomorrow. The primaries give him a perfect platform. The Dem Super PACs need to pick up where Newt stopped and hammer him about Bain and his offshore accounts. However the rich guys on the left don’t seem to be contributing that much. We need people like Soros, Buffet, Gates, Spielberg etc. to step up and match Adelson and the Kochs.
Vice President Joe Biden went after two Republican presidential candidates during a stop in Tallahassee Monday, casting Mitt Romney as a cold, bean-counting businessman and Newt Gingrich as something a bit worse. From the pool report:
“Mitt Romney says the best way to deal with foreclosures is to let everything hit the bottom.” (The crowd muttered loudly) “No, no, no, no – by the way, from purely a dollars and cents standpoint, he could get ready to argue that, that’s right out of the business school manual. But guess what? We’re not reorganizing and purchasing companies, we’re trying to rebuild a country.”
He said the GOP candidates are showing true colors in debates and that the DNC ought to sponsor 19 more so the voters can see them. …
“Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, I think they’re slightly different, and I mean this sincerely. I think it’s more about obstructionism for them. For them, their actions say what they really believe … These are the same guys who are calling the president a ‘food stamp president’ – a thinly veiled, I don’t know what it is, but it’s inappropriate. It’s inappropriate.”
Chips – awesome end to the 1/2 time for America. Way to go!
TALLAHASSEE — Vice President Joe Biden was on his way to prom years ago when he saw his father pacing outside.
Had something happened to Mom? Was something wrong?
His father, it turned out, had just returned from the bank, where he was turned down for a loan to pay for Biden’s education at the University of Delaware. “I’m so ashamed,” Biden recalled him saying.
The anecdote, delivered in a speech Monday to students at Florida State University, was used to promote President Barack Obama’s new college affordability plan — which would reward states for keeping costs low.
Read this and tell me he does not connect?
The ping pong baby
This is so cute – a phenom right before our eyes!
That dad is thinking about college scholarships!
Eastwood’s comments on commercial:
Eastwood, a longtime Republican who now describes himself as a libertarian, told Fox News on Monday he was “certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama.”
The ad was meant as a message “about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it,” Eastwood said, according to a transcript on Foxnews.com.
“If Obama or any other politician wants to run with the spirit of that ad, go for it,” the actor added.
I hope someone told him that PRESIDENT Obama has been running with the spirit of that ad since he first came on the scene. That’s why people so quickly identified that ad with President Obama.
Oh, I think he knows Theo. I would be surprised to hear that this ad wasn’t made with that in mind. IMO this ad is a non-partisan patriotic ad, and I find it hard to believe that its content was a fluke. In fact, his quote above is clearly saying ‘Here you go , President Obama, run with this message.”
Of course he didn’t write the ad, he was just paid to be in it.
Clint Eastwood indicated that he donated the funds from the ad to charity. Trying to find the link.
I thought Romney had a double-digit lead in Minnesota….I guess not any more!

WTH is going on here?!?!?!?
You know, Jake Tapper looked positively pizzzed on World News tonight as he lamented Romney’s low (er than PBO) approval rating…
mittmentum baby, mittmentum. Loving it. The more this coreless cretin is campaigning, the deeper his numbers fall.
Is this for real? What happened to the unstoppable Willard”Mitt” Romney?
mind boggling mittmentum ?
Am i allowed to say “Holy fucking crap”? Well, I think I will anyway. Where the hell did this come from?? Mittens, inevitability, most electable…
Feel free LL, feel free!!!
If Santorum (giggle, I said “Santorum”) wins MN and MO, that pretty much upends Mittens once more. Man, people would rather vote for a guy whose name is an Internet punch line than for Willard. That has to hurt.
Giggling back at ya! Seriously, if those numbers are right, then …….. I dunno? PBO doesn’t have to leave the Oval office to campaign??
LOL! I just love the way your mind works.
Ahem, you’re asking the wrong person. I won the netiquettes award for 3 consecutive years.
Our very own TOD Emily Post. *eye flutter*
F..k yeah. It’s a f…king hard work, ya know…
yep that’s right. bring on the crazy. it’s minnesota…..sigh……
Yep. I was thinking Michelle Bachmann. However, there are some sane folks in Minnesota.
And they vote Dem. Which is why, if I’m not mistaken, PBO is leading the state. The GOP is a nest of vipers.
Why the @’s at twitter are all suddenly red ?
It’s blue on my browser, as it has always been.
Mine were always black till now. ummm.
Twitter has probably sent out a red alert on amk, hard to blame them.
But, but…I won the netiquettes award for three fucking times….
Obama Campaign To Step Up Super PAC Fundraising
The Obama campaign announced on Monday night that it will launch a new fundraising campaign for unlimited money Super PACs supporting Democrats, concluding that despite the president’s opposition to the Supreme Court decision that sprang them into existence, they can’t afford to avoid them.
With Republican Super PACs, including Karl Rove’s Crossroads, Mitt Romney’s Restore Our Future, and Newt Gingrichs Winning Our Future, raising tens of millions of dollars — one donor alone, Sheldon Adelson, donated more than $10 million to the pro-Gingrich group — the campaign told supporters in an e-mail that they had to act.
“With so much at stake, we can’t allow for two sets of rules in this election whereby the Republican nominee is the beneficiary of unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina wrote.
Bill Burton’s Priorities USA will be one of the Super Pacs.
Well alrighty then!!! Love it.
wow that was one of the best democratic ads I’ve ever seen.
yeah that’s what they had that meeting for. I don’t blame them. We can’t afford to lose this year because of Citizens United.
Booyah! You want a fight? We’ll give you a fight.
But Buddy Roemer said…
You don’t bring a butter knife to a war. The important thing is this: “We will do so only in the knowledge and with the expectation that all of its donations will be fully disclosed as required by law to the Federal Election Commission.”
which emoprog would be the first to start whining about this ? I’m betting on joan walsh.
You mean wealthy democrats were holding out?
They have to do it. There’s too much at stake. When you’ve got the likes of the Koch brothers, that Adelson lunatic and the rest of the right muckety-mucks pledging a minimum of $100 million – plus, the complete disregard for truth in what passes for journalism these days – they have to do it.
It’s kind of the same thing he did in the ’08 campaign when he pulled out of the campaign financing limitations and McCain was so mad. I’m all for him getting all the money he needs.
Good, what else could they do but fight back. Now the screaming will begin, hypocrital gop.
Anyone who thinks Obama didn't "bring change" fast enough is living in a fact-free dreamland frank-schaeffer.blogspot.com/2012/02/presid…— Frank Schaeffer (@Frank_Schaeffer) February 05, 2012
I’ve been following the FAA bill. Some on the left are saying that the Senate dems “caved” to republican union-busting efforts and Ed Schultz said the same thing. I read about the bill, and heres what I found regarding unions: “Several labor issues over the years have frustrated efforts to pass a bill. Most recently, a Republican-drafted bill that cleared the House last spring included a provision that would have overturned a National Mediation Board ruling allowing airline and railroad employees to form a union by a simple majority of those voting. Under the old rule, workers who didn’t vote were treated as “no” votes.
The labor provision, which was opposed by the Democratic-controlled Senate, became the principal issue holding up the bill. A compromise reached two weeks ago by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, allows the mediation board’s rules to stand, but it also toughens some lesser requirements that must be met in order to hold a union organizing election.”
The National Mediation Board rules are still intact, and the only difference I can see is a toughening of “lesser” requirements related to union elections. Am I wrong in thinking that the changes don’t “bust up” the rights of unions affiliated with the airline industry to bargain collectively? Maybe someone here could explain exactly what is in the bill that is considered “union busting?” I’m hoping this isn’t something that some dems will take and run with to turn other dems against the president. I’ve already seen some tweets calling on PBO to veto the bill.
It was a compromise- now employees have to have 50% of the vote to form a union.
The House had been holding out for absolutely NO unions.
Ed schultz is a fool!
Thanks, Jovie. I knew there’d be someone at TOD who could clarify for me why some dems are ginning up the dems “caved” nonsense again.
I simply do not understand when “compromise” became a dirty word that means “caving in”. My two children think this is how government runs – with people refusing to compromise at all. They don’t remember when probably 80% of the stuff just got done and people argued about the 20%. And by people I mean Republicans and the far left who want us all to behave like Republicans.
I think ppl sometimes do not hold unions accountable. I am a union person, but some of their rules have to revised with the changing times. Times are different from when the union beging. they also have to make adjustments.
Especially during a Depression!
We really need a ROFLMAO emoticon in WordPress.
@ppppolls What happens in 30 years when you and the establishment are dead? The 20 yr old Paul people take over and we piss on your grave— Austin Phillips (@AustinPhillip17) February 06, 2012
Then you also have to hold unions members accountable for their over whelming support of the gop. this is a lesson learned.
